00:00:35
Speaker 2: Nah, nah, Bro, she man did Bro? She running for president too? I think right, she's she's thinking about it. You gotta vote for a woman, right, You've been talking about women your whole career.
00:00:46
Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, I mean I voted for it. I'm just like it was. It was.
00:00:49
Speaker 3: It was an Oakland thing though, you know she's from the Bay. A lot of people got you know, there are reasons, but I'm supporting that's it.
00:00:56
Speaker 1: Yeah. I want to support the hometown sir. Too Short. Volume two Drinking Smoke. Here we are another collection another body of work man.
00:01:04
Speaker 3: Yeah, and it's actually gonna be that's two of four, so the rest are coming. So don't don't get too settled in going on the ride.
00:01:13
Speaker 1: Enjoy enjoy them as they come right, but too especial because it was completely produced by Little.
00:01:18
Speaker 3: John, Little John Front the Bat. Little John also made Shake that Monkey, Blow Over. So a lot of songs that I recorded over the years.
00:01:25
Speaker 2: Hell, yeah, you you connected with Little John not in the Bay at first, right in Atlanta.
00:01:30
Speaker 1: Atlanta, Yeah, back in ninety seven ish damn was he an intern or DJ at that time?
00:01:36
Speaker 3: He was an employee at So So Deaf That's Jermaine Dupries label, and he also was doing some production over there as a producer. But he also had just launched an artist career a Little John in the East Side Boys. But when I when I linked that, we only had one song out at the time, and his one song was moving around It was who Who You With, which later became Dureaux that ice cream paint job, that's right, the same same being. Yeah, but yeah, you know we linked up back in the late mid late nineties.
00:02:08
Speaker 1: I made a whole lot of songs together.
00:02:10
Speaker 2: Didn't you see him in the club? Was he need to like make it go crazy? And you were like, yo, we gotta do something, bro.
00:02:15
Speaker 1: Yeah, he was just a really good DJ. You know how DJ is a good DJ? You don't want it right there, man, Nico blitz d.
00:02:21
Speaker 3: I never seen Nico in action at a party, but I'll tell you what Little John did that that a lot of people weren't doing at that time. He was talking to the crowd as he DJed, and he was working him up into a frenzy little by a little by little, and then it would be the whole damn crowd was just having fun. And I was like, I like the way this guy DJ is. And I got wind of his song that he put out and that he made beats, and I was like, bro, we need to work. I really wanted to do a remix with I wanted to rap on who You Went song, and he was like, nah, let's.
00:02:52
Speaker 1: Just do some new new song. Let's start fresh, right And we never stopped.
00:02:55
Speaker 2: Yeah, it's crazy to see a DJ, you know, making the crowd move and repea everything they say.
00:03:01
Speaker 1: Is like, Yo, this guy's got a lot of power. And he still does that to this day, to this day, and he's buffers funck. Now you've seen him. He's a yogio for sure. Man. Taking this stuff, you know, it's in a good space. Man. He's one of our legends too many Little John is now officially a legend officially right. Yeah.
00:03:20
Speaker 3: So I'm I'm just really hyped to have done this project with and we really set out just to do a song. And he sent me a pack of beats and I sent him back with vocals on all of them, and he was like, oh, you're serious, huh, sent me some more, send them back all vocals. We actually, even though we have this album coming out in two days, we actually have enough songs recorded where I can.
00:03:43
Speaker 1: Do another album. Jesus Christ.
00:03:45
Speaker 3: It's like a lot, not to mention the Mount Westmore songs that haven't come out yet, a bunch of those from Little John as well.
00:03:53
Speaker 1: Produce.
00:03:54
Speaker 3: He's a part of it, but it's it's multiple producers. But me forty snoop, cue, we gotta, we gotta just it's just simmering. I'm like, come on, guys, let's put this sounds crazy.
00:04:04
Speaker 1: How have you seen Little John change his production over the years or just working with Little John over the years. I think I think he just brings in more and more people.
00:04:15
Speaker 3: He's He's done a lot of ed M type stuff, and I feel like he's he's one track minded as far as like this song has to move people, it has to rock the party because most of the stuff were here from Little John party stuff. Yeah, and you know he does all kinds of other stuff, but we love his party stuff. So when I get the studio with him, that's the energy he always brings. Its like is this going to make people feel good?
00:04:41
Speaker 1: So you know that's what it's about to move somebody.
00:04:44
Speaker 3: I think his evolution has been he showed it to all of us. His evolution has been his his spiritual vibe into like meditating, dropped the Meditation album.
00:04:53
Speaker 1: I don't even know that. Man.
00:04:56
Speaker 4: He's so good at like just any genre he touches.
00:05:00
Speaker 1: Yes, I appreciate drunk ass Little John Yogi Little John.
00:05:04
Speaker 2: He doesn't drink anymore either, I know, man. I used to see him take down bottles of Patron in Vegas easy.
00:05:11
Speaker 1: Now he will teach you how to do yoga. That's right. I'm kind of down. I'm not into yoga yet, but I definitely we all should be inspired by his changes too.
00:05:21
Speaker 2: Sure we should have get Cathy changes, head over to Lulu Lemon and get some yoga pants.
00:05:25
Speaker 1: My gene then we go, you're not down. The only thing I'm doing that Lulu Lemon is looking at the women. There you go, they got fired. They got fired close for man too. It doesn't have to be up your ass. You know.
00:05:40
Speaker 2: They got some loose fitting stuff. Drinking smoke with E forty and Tiger as well. That's how that goes crazy.
00:05:45
Speaker 1: Man. It's always great to see you a forty work together just trying to have fun.
00:05:48
Speaker 3: Man, My man, A decade from Bakersfield came with that hook and it was just it was it was just a real fun vibe. So me and little John got in there and cooked it up a little bit and pulled in John got Tiger, I got.
00:06:04
Speaker 1: Forty, and we just made it spicy. That's what it's about. Yeah, right, sir. Too short, That's that's what they called me in high school. That's what they called you in high school. So too short? Too short?
00:06:14
Speaker 2: Was that like a that was like a nickname where you break dancing rewards, that kind of like you know, tag the wall, you know, yeah, yeah, yeah, so sleepy, you know whatever. Yeah, yeah, you back in the day, So too short, that's legendary. Didn't your mom find a book like the writing book. You should, yeah, dog, and didn't she like pray for you and started crying. I wouldn't read you added some what happened to tell her?
00:06:38
Speaker 1: Praying and cry?
00:06:41
Speaker 3: Literally I had a bunch of wrap books and it was those little composition books you just writeing them, write in and write in.
00:06:48
Speaker 1: And I guess one day when I wasn't home, she started sifting through the book and what she saw was I guess him ship.
00:06:54
Speaker 3: It was shocking, yeah, real, real pimpish, and she she slipped like a long letter. Could have been four or five, six, seven pages. It was a long letter in my wrap book. So when I went to go look at it the next time, I'm like, oh, what's this And it's a letter and it was just like a real heartwarming letter of like you know, just she was sad.
00:07:14
Speaker 1: She was disappointed.
00:07:15
Speaker 3: She was like, she's like, I hope you don't really feel like this, and it was it was she was like, I raised you better than that. You're supposed to grow up and be a give a family, and you know it, it was all pamping, man. So I don't know from you know, she was trying to praying behind. You know, I never really like a lot of people like wear the dream on their sleeve. I kept it to myself as I was getting more popular as a youngster rapping. I never really told the family. I kind of just it wasn't it was. It was the early eighties. You don't you don't go home and say, guess what, I'm going to be a rapper, right, It just didn't exist exactly, So it was it was like a I guess for her, it was kind of like a letdown.
00:07:54
Speaker 1: She's like, you're not going to college, You're not going to get a degree. I'm like, am iut here? Pamping ma? Not like that for right right in the music and the music.
00:08:04
Speaker 3: Then later I pull up with like five holes and she's like, who these ladies.
00:08:09
Speaker 1: I'm like, no, they're singing group. They work with me.
00:08:14
Speaker 3: All jokes, By the way, it didn't really happen, y'all.
00:08:20
Speaker 2: At an early age, though you knew you wanted to be a player, though right like you knew you wanted to be surrounded by women.
00:08:27
Speaker 3: I watched a lot of movies in the seventies and those there's colorful characters in those movies. You know, of all the colorful characters in the movies, the pimps always stood out, pull up with the fascy cars. They got the girls all made up, and I don't know, just as a youngster, I took to this notion of uh like, they had a magazine called Jet Magazine and then every issue it would be Beauty of the Week, and you know Jet Beauty of the Week, and I just ripped the beauty out, put her on the wall, rip her, I put it on the wall.
00:08:58
Speaker 1: I was a virgin. I was even They're like, why got all these girls on the wall. I'm like, these are my girlfriends manifested, Bro, that's what we were doing. Yeah. So you know I was a dreamer.
00:09:09
Speaker 3: You know, I was also the kind of person that would make things happen with that dream and I was determined to be something like a player that wasn't you know, anything could have happened in life, but it just kept going in that direction, showing up the music, was feeling it, and then you know, the art imitates life, and then it reverses and life starts entitating the art, and it's just kind of then.
00:09:32
Speaker 1: At what age did you like get your first you know, your first taste, Like, at what age you you lose your virgin.
00:09:38
Speaker 3: It was a slow process. You know, we don't want to encourage anybody right now. It was a very slow process. I started getting it together, you know, as I was coming out of high school. And then, you know, I think it was like an accident one day. I just looked up one day and I was like, dude, you're a player.
00:09:54
Speaker 1: I don't even know it. I thought I was. I was faking it, and then one day I just started making it right a fire.
00:10:00
Speaker 3: It came true manifesting. You said it a little while ago, So it was it was destiny. I actually, you know, I wrote it on paper and I put it in my world and it just came true.
00:10:13
Speaker 1: Nah, speaking into existence, that's for sure. No, it was the cars. It was being cool, it was rocking, the stages and crowds. It was all that. Just Yeah, at what age did you start getting money? Well? I used.
00:10:25
Speaker 3: I used hip hop to fund my high school years. So I would sell tapes in the streets, have a little pocket change. Never never wanted like, oh I want those jeans, I want those shoes. I would just hustle some music and go get it. I used to DJ parties and it had a lot of ways to get pocket chained as a youngster, and then nineteen eighty five I linked that would have labeled seventy five Girls Records, and I look at that like my college years, Like I really learned how to be an independent music distributor from seventy five Girls. And at the same time I was accelerated into a player environment that was bigger than anything I ever dreamed of. These guys were like they had it all, they were doing it all, and so I went to players school. I went to you know, music distribution school, and when I came out of that era, I was ready for it. Like nineteen eighty seven, we started a label called Dangerous Music, and Dangerous Music is where you get Freaky Tales, Dophine Be, you get born to Mad, and then it just goes on. Dangerous Music. We did a deal with Jive Records, and we start putting everything out on a national scale, and then you know, just I figure it was. It was a semi never really a struggle, but it was. The dream was alive probably everywhere before nineteen eighty seven, and in summer of eighty seven when I put out Freaky Tails independently, made a lot of money really fast, and never stopped, so I never looked back. So it's been close to forty years of balling.
00:11:57
Speaker 1: That's right, that's forty years of ball in my or what would you say is your favorite record of yours? Well? I have a favorite one two punch.
00:12:06
Speaker 3: My favorite two songs have always been on the Born of Mac album, which is a Freaky Tales and dope fiend beat. They come on back to back and anytime I get lost as a songwriter or artist, and I'm just like, you know, been doing it so long, and you're like, damn you. I mean, you really like soul search while you're starting on an album and you're writing songs that come to with titles like what is Too Short? And I go listen to those two songs and they bring me back too Short. And then later, because my career has been so long, nothing has had more of an impact than the one two punch of Shake that Monkey and blow the Whistle. They do it, and then so many people have this nostalgic attachment to getting it. Yeah, it means a lot to a lot of people.
00:12:50
Speaker 1: So now you remember where you were when that song was out and doing its thing.
00:12:54
Speaker 3: So the first two is the essence of too short. The last two blow the whistle, shake that monkey are the heartbeat. That's what keeps it going all these years. It just keeps going and getting It is like, it's like my special little kid.
00:13:08
Speaker 5: What would you say is the secret sauce to your legacy man? Being in the game for so many years? Man, Like a lot of people will say collaboration being open minded, but for you specifically, what has been that thing that kind of held you on.
00:13:19
Speaker 3: For a whole lot of right place at the right time, took place, you know? And my secret weapon, hands down. I could tell it to anybody and you can either do it or you can't. But it's never fails. I grew up on Parliament Funkadelic, George Clinton, Ohio Players, you know that Cameo funk, that's just that funk, all those funk bands of the seventies. And when I got my opportunity to get in the studio and make original music, those are my influences.
00:13:50
Speaker 1: And if you listen to how you know La hip.
00:13:53
Speaker 3: Hop, the all the stuff that gravitated towards the Doctor Dre Warren gg funk and sound that also is born from the seventies funk music so the West coast, you know, up north east forty same vibe. Like we all collectively, without even talking to each other, we put that funk in the music. And if you know this, man, like I consider a lot of things that be funky, but when it's that funk where the kick, drums and the bassline are driving the song, that's the heart of the song. That funk funk songs like you know Roger and zap More bounced to the bounced the funk. It's the cheat code. And if you know it, it never goes it never gets old. It's kind of like, it's kind of like, what's the dance that won't go away?
00:14:37
Speaker 1: What they call it, which keep.
00:14:41
Speaker 3: Torking, bended over and shake that ass has been prevalent in hip hop since the young late eighties, and you go back, it's probably like it probably goes back to the to the fifties and sixties, the twenties and thirties and all the way back to the Motherland or something.
00:15:04
Speaker 1: I don't know. But well too, because it's.
00:15:11
Speaker 3: Going back to you're talking about condoms, said no, the eighties sounding song that's all right now.
00:15:20
Speaker 2: I'm just fucking yeah, talking about condoms I ain't gotten, but yeah, you're right, You're right.
00:15:27
Speaker 1: It's that sound. It's that that that uh, it just clicks.
00:15:31
Speaker 3: The funk never plays out. Whether you put it in really R n B. You can put it in eight M. It could be in house music, it could be wherever.
00:15:40
Speaker 2: And it hits kids, right because man, Yeah, out of everybody you've worked with and you've been you featured, you know, on their songs, what's been your favorite feature verse?
00:15:49
Speaker 1: Damn verse? That's that's very specific. I mean, we got jay Z, I mean, the list goes on from there.
00:15:55
Speaker 3: It's so many, I mean t I A very memorable verse is Notorious Big The work in the world is filled with pimps and hose. That's a very memorable verse that was out back up against the wall after death.
00:16:10
Speaker 1: Pressure in the studio. Everybody's in there, like what are you gonna do? Wow?
00:16:14
Speaker 3: And then Notorious Big Biggie gets in there and just wraps some incredible verse and like it probably took him two tries. Like he's he announced to the whole room, I'm gonna do this in one take. And he when he went there, he messed up, I think on the very first line and he said do it again, and the next time he just did the whole fucking verse in one take.
00:16:35
Speaker 1: And then they were like, what are you gonna do? Your turn? Hand your turn? And he can't write anything down either, right, No, he doesn't need to.
00:16:45
Speaker 3: And you know the fact that him and jay Z and those guys don't use pen and paper, you can't really gauge what they're doing when you're in the studio. So everybody's laughing. It's like smoking the air and passing around drinks and stuff. And I'm sitting there with a pin and a blank piece of paper. And then he goes, I'm ready, Like you didn't even start, how are you ready? So the pressure was on, and you know, that's just very memorable, but memorable, but versus crazy the best verse, favorite verse?
00:17:13
Speaker 1: That's that's that's tough. Who's your favorite kid? I don't know.
00:17:18
Speaker 5: I'm curious, though, man, in some in a situation like that, when you have that pressure, what motivated you not to switch up your process or your style to say, you know, let me try to go off top or let me try to do it the way they're doing it.
00:17:28
Speaker 1: Seeing how successful they were almost try to fit in right.
00:17:32
Speaker 3: Well, another cheat code outside of the funk is the game. And you know it's just it's not necessarily pimp game. It's just something that is a Bay Area ism. It's called the game. You gotta have game, and you can always lean on the game when when the pressure is.
00:17:49
Speaker 1: On that and that's walking through life period.
00:17:51
Speaker 3: So a friend of mine, I only had if we did the song in New York, and I only had one person with me, my boy P. And I was like, I confided in P. I said, dang, you heard what he just did, Like, like, man, what am I gonna do? And P is like he's gamed up. He's not a rapper, you don't make music, but he's been around me a lot and like blurted out like subjects and phrases. You know the homie in the studio that does you know, that's that's riding for the cause. And he said, well, listen to the song. Everybody's verses on there, Puffs verses on there, Big was on there. That's Carl Thomas on the hook. The beat is knocking, and he said, listen to the song. The hook says the world is filled with pimps and hose. We just talked about those I know, and he said, listen to the song, nobody said anything about a pimp or a hole yet. And I was like, give me the paper, got it and it just say and I wrote, I wrote that verse really fast. But I'm always my favorite sessions are you know with my boy pimps rest in peace? Uh, definitely Scarfaced A lot of a lot of work with him and E forty probably is the top of the list on collaborating, how easily we work to get And I don't know if you guys know it, but me and Eve forty have recorded dozens of songs together. We have a double album that we did together.
00:19:07
Speaker 1: Of course, I feel like dozens is even just an understatement.
00:19:10
Speaker 3: It might go over one hundred. But I just say dozens because you can still say dozens and being the low hundreds.
00:19:17
Speaker 1: True. Yeah, it's got to be two hundred and more to say hundreds. Crazy. I don't know if we got one hundred and niney songs? Yeah, right? How many? How many years of work do you guys have in unreleased music.
00:19:29
Speaker 3: Me and forty, Yeah, including Mount Westmore, good lord, there's a lot of songs. But I think the whole thing about making all these songs is. It's not about what is the song for, It's just about you got a bunch of music lovers working together.
00:19:45
Speaker 1: We just love making music.
00:19:46
Speaker 3: So if I was to go hang out with Snoop at the compound, it's very likely just in the midst of like a blunt getting past, he might go a dog put a verse on his beat right here and pull it up. I just put the verse on it and never even say what're you gonna use it for?
00:20:03
Speaker 1: You know, you know who who?
00:20:07
Speaker 3: I just want to say, what the fuck? Y g I swear to god. I feel like we did like at least three or four songs. I'm like, where are these songs at?
00:20:18
Speaker 1: What we're doing? Yeah?
00:20:19
Speaker 3: I remember once I did two songs with a Gucci Mane in Vegas and then they never came out, and I called these people, I'm like, hey, what do you guys do with those songs?
00:20:26
Speaker 1: They're like, what songs? You know?
00:20:28
Speaker 3: The ones we did at the Poems in the studio. They're like, I don't know, Like those songs are dope.
00:20:34
Speaker 1: So that's crazy that they don't know where. They don't know where it's at. Yeah, where's waldough? I don't know.
00:20:46
Speaker 3: I don't know if the if the songs are recorded at my studio on my computer, nothing gets lost, nothing is we find everything. But I don't know, you know it could. I'm just imagine, why did you make so many hit records? Got DJ Munster just.
00:21:03
Speaker 1: Like there's a lot going on there. That versus was crazy with game. He saw that. I gotta sat with Doctor dre It never came out. How does that hurt? Didn't he make you redo that verse over and over again a million.
00:21:14
Speaker 3: Times, a million times down to the to the last time he called me back, he said, and he just do one last thing?
00:21:22
Speaker 1: Like what's that? He's like, you gotta say the pussy. Somewhere in the verse.
00:21:26
Speaker 6: I said the pussy and he said, no, you gotta say the pussy. And I said the pussy and he's like, no, the pussy. And I just said the pussy for eight hours, Oh no, eight hours.
00:21:39
Speaker 3: We need one last thing released it already. But back to that, I did not see the verses. I only saw the clips all the the main game beating Hi stuff up.
00:21:50
Speaker 1: After that patron, they were having a good time. They were up there celebrating bro. It was looking like bloody and blood out. We're saying don Julio one that night. That was crazy. Bro.
00:22:06
Speaker 2: So these songs, yeah, like the Dre song never dropped, the YG songs you still have, the Gucci songs you still have out there as well. These may see the light of day one day, and your your your music and your legacy lives on, belong to the universe.
00:22:19
Speaker 1: Whatever happens happens. Damn Yo. You recorded with Snow the product last night on Twitch.
00:22:23
Speaker 3: We did a single song live on Live Yeah live for this happening that's coming out right now, sir, Too Short, Volume two that comes out Friday, so we're here on Friday. It was like another one of those pressure things. She described the same thing. She's like two sharking cooked in my studio to say, make a song right now, live on the strength, right now.
00:22:40
Speaker 1: But she did get that's crazy.
00:22:43
Speaker 4: One karaoke place a year ago.
00:22:47
Speaker 1: Where was the first time you might be right because you seem to know a lot. Yeah, that was there and it was like it was a two day event.
00:22:55
Speaker 4: But I when I walked in the room and saw Too Short in the product, you can get that them upside down practically the first time.
00:23:03
Speaker 1: I feel like I met her, I feel like we was at the Mantre outdoors. That was it. Okay, that was it, bro when you Biggie were recording.
00:23:14
Speaker 3: And then we we just we came up with this whole notion of doing a song. Was just downtown the other day at Pershing Square.
00:23:26
Speaker 1: Yeah was there too. Yeah, that's a secret song. So did you see her come on stage during my show? Yeah? Short, we're here to tell you that Leslie is your daughter.
00:23:41
Speaker 4: You are.
00:23:44
Speaker 3: So yeah that night when she jumped on stage Sunday night, just this past Sunday, I've been trying to like do this one last song and I'm like the tempo was like really fast and just like I was like, oh my god. She just walked up in the stadium like you're the person, and then she said she was she was wondering if she came out on the stage and like it was like weird or something, which everybody just screamed and loved her of course. But then when she woke up the next day, I had text her and said, let's do a song. So she said, all all the anxiety went out the windows.
00:24:22
Speaker 1: Wow, she's overthinking it. She was overthinking it.
00:24:25
Speaker 3: But it's funny because she text me that day, I have a number, but I guess it's the old number or something. So she text me, God, I got Sunday the product. She text me Sunday and said, this is Snow just wanting them.
00:24:39
Speaker 1: It's cool.
00:24:40
Speaker 3: I'm coming up there and me streaming and be out there. And I looked at it like, well, I wonder if that's really her. I didn't know, and my day was just going. I had to show that I was going. And then when I saw her on stage, I'm like, did you text me earlier? She was like, yeah, well, if you look, if you get seen an equips I say something to her before she walks on stage.
00:24:58
Speaker 1: That's what I said, said, did you text me earlier? And she was like, yeah, that was me. I'm like okay.
00:25:03
Speaker 3: So when I woke up, I hit that number back and it was like, let's do a song. And then we came up with the idea let's just do it live.
00:25:10
Speaker 1: That's crazy and everybody I love that. I love that.
00:25:12
Speaker 2: Yeah, that's chemistry, right, and that's like, you know, you're on the spot, you're creating that process.
00:25:18
Speaker 1: There's no AI involved.
00:25:20
Speaker 3: I never I never worked with people like a lot of people like in the room. So making a song, yeah, yeah, I mean, how many people done that?
00:25:31
Speaker 1: A lot of people do it.
00:25:33
Speaker 2: You know it's a pain, but like to have an og do it right with someone like Snow the product that I mean that means everything for people watching.
00:25:41
Speaker 1: Yeah, I also want to do they go live and make songs as dope as when we made Last Night. Man. I heard, I heard it. Man.
00:25:48
Speaker 2: I kept playing back the sample trying to figure out that sample you just told me off the air.
00:25:52
Speaker 1: But it sounds good, man, It's got a summer vibe to it. Produced by Little John Man. Wow, damn. This whole project is project.
00:26:00
Speaker 3: Yeah yeah man, And the next volumes three and four we'll have some sprinkles of Little John. I'm a Volume one has some songs from my longtime producer and Banks, and then Little John gets this volume two to itself. But then volume three and four got some more ant Banks and some stuff, some Little Johns sprinkles and now motivated Jazzy Fay and jazz Fay. When you finish with all that. So he's like Finzel, he said, when you finished with all that, come over here, let's do a project together. Yeah yeah, So I'm really gonna entertain that we need.
00:26:39
Speaker 6: A schedule for next year.
00:26:43
Speaker 3: Well as labels will tell you it's coming in November, it doesn't happen, So you know it's done.
00:26:51
Speaker 1: It's not something that I'm working on. They're all done.
00:26:54
Speaker 3: All the songs are done, three and four, all the songs of majority of songs, probably eighty five er is mixed, and then the mastering is not really like a hard process to get get it done.
00:27:05
Speaker 1: And then we you know, do some artwork.
00:27:07
Speaker 3: And I think the the the biggest adjustment I have in today's industry is you gotta.
00:27:15
Speaker 1: Do all your visuals before you even drop it.
00:27:18
Speaker 3: So there's there's always the pressure of getting a lot of assets for the visual social media, Youtubes and all the other platforms.
00:27:29
Speaker 1: So you know, it's I mean, it is what it is.
00:27:32
Speaker 5: I'd love to see a whole project between you and Pilo, like all PLO production.
00:27:38
Speaker 3: Yeah, I would say, I would say that's a good thing, and I love Pilo, but there's some producers out there that are like little little giants, and when you got big little giant, you know, I would do a million Pilo songs, But I feel like I'm little John's guy. Yeah, Pilos, a little homie, big records, big sound. Yeah, but I don't know because also we love Pilo, but he he projects a lot of people.
00:28:11
Speaker 1: What does that mean?
00:28:11
Speaker 3: What do you mean he got like five I mean, I mean duo projects. Pilo got in the works that you know of hand full you know he did that an EP or an album with this artist that So I'm Little John's guy. You loyal, That's loyal just as a formula, and.
00:28:32
Speaker 1: I got it.
00:28:33
Speaker 3: But I will do a million songs of Pilos, say I feel the same way, like about tracks a million, rest in peace, tracks a million. I would tracks, give me one hundred beats and I would rap on him. It wouldn't matter. So he got my vibe that tempo. If you don't think about making beats, it's that one hundred ppm and keep it anywhere close to that and it just feels good.
00:28:54
Speaker 1: Was there ever a beat that you passed on that became a hit later on with somebody else?
00:28:58
Speaker 3: I mean, I've had a bunch of packs where beat packs where I've heard beats. You know, people say the same thing about beats that came out way. I don't think that matters. I really don't think that matters just because the song. That's like saying it was it any girls you wanted to dance with at the party that you didn't dance.
00:29:16
Speaker 1: Beats is deaf for bro that's catalog, right, That's that's legacy. I don't know, man, it's a hot beat, wet finger. You know, hey, hey, yo, shot yo. You hear about that Snow biopic? I haven't. Everybody's like, what's your involvement? Are you in it? Like I'm not in it? No, we know you're not in it, right, but it'd be nice if you were. But all right, I should be in all the biopics because we were there, right, you were least I was there.
00:29:51
Speaker 4: Blows the whistles turning twenty this year, right, twentieth anniversary. Is there anything that stands out about making that song? Or did you know when you made it like it was going to be such a timeless song.
00:30:02
Speaker 3: I think the most important thing about that song being around for so long was that it did not come out the gate as a big hit. It might have come out as it might have came out on Fire in the Bay in La and a couple of West.
00:30:17
Speaker 1: Coast cities, but it did not instantly get.
00:30:20
Speaker 3: Released as everybody in the Midwest, down Southeast Coast, all up and down the west, around the globe.
00:30:27
Speaker 1: It's moved around the globe, and it just didn't start like that. Like I love the fact that.
00:30:33
Speaker 3: Years after it was released, it would be like a new song to somebody in New Orleans or New York or like Philly just took to it when they won.
00:30:42
Speaker 1: The Super Bowl a few years ago. And it just keeps popping up.
00:30:47
Speaker 3: And I've seen clips with like the song making Baby Stop Cry and and I know really really old ladies that wear whistles all day and night, and then every time that song come on, I'm blowing them out.
00:31:01
Speaker 1: What's up? And it's like, literally, but.
00:31:05
Speaker 3: You're talking about people who don't even know one other song I made. It's all good, it's just it's just the it's like the legend of the song outside of who too short is it has it has immensely helped me, but it also is something separate from me, Like people go up this this this is the newest latest in my life in recent years.
00:31:31
Speaker 1: People like it's too short and they're like and they're like, it's the blow the whistle guy that's crazy. Still a compliment.
00:31:40
Speaker 3: Ye, grocery store, I'm on our seven, somebody's on our six going, what's my favorite bok?
00:31:46
Speaker 1: I don't even see it. I just hear it. You just hear it. Yeah, to the most for the most part.
00:31:53
Speaker 5: Can you imagine be next to the EGGX bitch?
00:31:56
Speaker 1: I hear it? Amazing. I have to the to call me a bitch. People just walk up to say call me a bitch.
00:32:03
Speaker 2: I'm like, I only do that when I'm working, right, right, you have you had women and say can you please call me a bitch?
00:32:08
Speaker 1: Yep, I say the same thing every time. If you pay me, I'll do it. That's right. It's my job. That's part of my You got to pay me to call you a bit. That's crazy.
00:32:17
Speaker 2: That is Hey, were you excited short that you know that that rumor was going around that Lebron was maybe going to the Warriors?
00:32:25
Speaker 1: Well? I never really get excited ever, but for short man. Oh no, I mean I practiced on being cool for so long. That's right, that's right.
00:32:35
Speaker 3: My excitement it's inside. That's not a good question, man, Because I'm I'm a Lebron fan. Career wise, I'm a Lebron fan. He hasn't been on some of my favorite teams. But I'm a Lebron fan of what he does as a basketball player because I'm a basketball fan. But I was one of the people who said, you know, I don't know what it would do for the Warriors, but it wouldn't do good for him basketball anything that wouldn't You don't go a little late, right, you know. They look at the look at the fact that Kevin Durant got for playing with his supposedly like arch enemies and the playoffs you know, from the OKC when he was there and the Warriors that eliminated Okay, see one year, I guess, and then he went to play with the Warriors. He got a lot of flat for that, even though he got two chips. But Lebron and Steph are like they're never supposed to play together. It's it's not supposed to We're not supposed to do that to the sport, you know. Yeah, and then we were just talking about this yesterday. I'm gonna say it again, love Lebron James big fan.
00:33:41
Speaker 1: Uh.
00:33:41
Speaker 3: He can argue Michael Jordan Lebron all day whatever, But Michael Jordan, all these rings with the Bulls, Tim Duncan all his rings with the Spurs, Kobe Bryant all his rings with the with the Lakers, and Steph Curry all the rings with the Warriors. Like, it just means something when you get those multiples with that one franchise. So when you look back on it, and Lebron's gonna be the goat, but it's gonna be like you know, he he dated around a little bit.
00:34:11
Speaker 1: To get it. Papa was a rolling stone.
00:34:13
Speaker 2: He was.
00:34:14
Speaker 1: Yeah, no, that's right. He chased you know, it looks like he chased it. I guess right. He chased every ring. This last one is definitely a chase going to Philly him and about crazy taking that pay cut. Mm hmm, so get it.
00:34:27
Speaker 3: But but I guess he's he's also going to step in the arena where you go, well, you could argue that one team stuff, but then look, this dude went and got a ring with four different teams. You know, so if he pulls it off, that'll be a bragging bragging, right, So it's in there, you know, but you still got to pull it off though, But you know, you want your you want baby daddies.
00:34:52
Speaker 1: Yo. I think that kills the argument right there. Man, I'm just saying he I don't know, right right right, no, this but it is what it is. I know she got folk kids. I like it, but but she got four different baby doddies. I don't know. This is a hell of a segue.
00:35:11
Speaker 5: But speaking of fatherhood, right, go ahead, up, No, seriously, what is what is fatherhood taught you in your life that you haven't gotten any other lesson from?
00:35:21
Speaker 3: I think it just it steered me away from my reckless path that I was on. I was I was getting a little too a little too old for what I was doing. Somebody just asked me the other day drink and smoked a new single. I was like, yeah, They like, don't you think you're a little old for that? And I'm like, damn, drinking and smoking moderately, that's cool.
00:35:40
Speaker 1: Yeah.
00:35:40
Speaker 3: But I was reckless man in my and when I when my fifties started, I was all the way wild in my forties. When I hit fifty, and I tried to find somebody younger than me in the club and I'm like, hold on, the old guy in the club now, and I'm like, all right, we gotta we gotta slow it down.
00:35:59
Speaker 1: But I was still full speed ahead.
00:36:03
Speaker 3: And then when I saw this beautiful child, I'm like, man, you gotta ca't drinking five days a week and staying out and womanizing and running wild and stuff.
00:36:15
Speaker 1: So I did some real lifestyle changes not.
00:36:22
Speaker 3: And it wasn't like like it was like an out loud conscious thing. It just happened automatically, like it just it just changed and it just slowed down.
00:36:33
Speaker 1: Lifestyle got healthier, you.
00:36:35
Speaker 3: Know, started moving differently, and it just kind of you know, it really doesn't conflict within me as I make these songs that I'm making because I want to stay true to the character too short. But then I also don't want to put a lot of bad energy out there. After she was born, I explained her, before you was born, your daddy was crazy, But then she was like, we daddy he made all these songs after I was born.
00:37:00
Speaker 1: I'm so I'm trying to like put it all in the right perspective. It's there's a lot of a lot of.
00:37:07
Speaker 3: Tugging, tug of war within myself behind this, But if you listen to the music, I'm finding a way the.
00:37:14
Speaker 1: Fact that about it is big though, So like salute to you on that.
00:37:17
Speaker 5: But what what what what dad advice would you give to other fathers now that you're your father has been in it for for some years now, what dad advice.
00:37:24
Speaker 1: Would you give to other fathers out there? Well, I'm I'm like a rookie bro my fatherhood.
00:37:30
Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm I'm a rookie in terms of like you know, the guys who's like on their fourth fifth kid, and they can they can play PlayStation while they changed the diaper.
00:37:38
Speaker 1: With the other hand, I'm not.
00:37:40
Speaker 3: I'm not that kind of father. I've changed a few diapers. The learning curve was you know it was it wasn't too difficult. I've learned some things along the way. But I'm still claiming rookie status. And I just think that I think I would have if had I known what it was like, I would have did it at a younger age. I would have attempted to. I was really trying not to be a father on purpose at a young age. But turns out, as you know, the guys who I were laughing at who couldn't come out of the house, they were in there for a good reason.
00:38:13
Speaker 1: I didn't even know, right, And.
00:38:16
Speaker 3: You know, I think that any advice I would just be like, just you know, make sure you bring that in your life, because I missed out on that young fatherhood that probably would have been amazing. And you know, I guess automatically I would assume that second kid, third kid.
00:38:35
Speaker 1: Or fourth kids just get better. You get better, you get better.
00:38:38
Speaker 3: And those who are like terrible dads, I think it's just probably just a terrible person, Like there's nothing we can do to save you.
00:38:46
Speaker 1: Do you have any regret of not having kids earlier?
00:38:50
Speaker 3: Just the fact that like right here, as I sit here right now, I could be with my grown son or daughter like doing business and grooming them to you know, keep up the legacy, you know what I mean, or whatever, but or even just having good times. A lot of my friends they've been hanging out in the clubs with their kids and doing grown up events with their kids.
00:39:11
Speaker 1: And then you know, I've got a couple of homeboys. You got some big ass grandkids.
00:39:15
Speaker 4: Like.
00:39:18
Speaker 1: Right, like damn your grandkids twenty two.
00:39:21
Speaker 3: Exactly, And it's like, so it it's something that you admire looking on the outside looking in, just seeing somebody gather a big family and the family growing.
00:39:32
Speaker 1: So you know, it happened for a reason and timing. Man, Yeah, I lived the life I live.
00:39:36
Speaker 3: But yeah, I would definitely if you could have showed me a little peak of the future, I would have definitely tapped in.
00:39:41
Speaker 1: A little earlier.
00:39:42
Speaker 4: I know you and Little John had daughters kind of on the same age, same time as he giving you any advice.
00:39:48
Speaker 1: Little John's newest baby is a baby. My baby is like almost eight.
00:39:54
Speaker 4: Okay, so have you given him any advice?
00:39:56
Speaker 1: Well, he already had kids, you know.
00:39:58
Speaker 3: Rest in peace to his son Slave who also worked on the album, his son that recently passed away working on the album with him. But John's been a father.
00:40:07
Speaker 1: For a long time.
00:40:08
Speaker 3: I mean, he don't need my advice. If anything, we're trying to get advice from him on how to meditate and do yoga.
00:40:14
Speaker 1: Yeah, that's a witch had oga pants short, I'm telling you that, Lululemon. My get beat me there, don't beat me.

00:40:21
