OM DETTA AVSNITT
In this episode of Successfully Unsuccessful, I sit down with my good friend Skip Johnson to unpack his incredible journey from building a billion-dollar wealth management firm to discovering what true success really means. Skip shares openly about his drive for achievement, the identity struggles that came with it, and the moment he realized that outward success wasn’t bringing the fulfillment he had hoped for. We talk about how he transitioned from chasing accolades to focusing on integration—blending faith, business, and family in a way that honors what matters most.
Skip gets real about the challenges he faced, including near-burnout, marital struggles, and the process of unlearning the false narratives that told him his worth was tied to performance. He shares how counseling, deep soul work, and the transformative power of surrendering to God changed everything. Now, he’s on a mission to help other entrepreneurs and leaders find success without sacrificing their marriages, their health, or their faith. We also dive into his work with Riverbend Refuge, the retreats he hosts for men seeking renewal, and how he’s embracing a purpose-driven life that’s not just about wealth, but about stewarding what he’s been given for a greater impact.
If you’ve ever wrestled with the tension between ambition and contentment, or if you’re wondering what it looks like to lead with integrity while staying fully present in your personal life, this conversation is for you. Skip’s wisdom, humility, and honesty will challenge you to rethink your definition of success and inspire you to pursue a life of true integration. Tune in and let’s redefine what it means to be Successfully Unsuccessful.
