Alabama State Auditor Andrew Sorrell joins Greg ahead of Election Day to discuss his reelection campaign, his record in office, and the importance of fiscal responsibility and government accountability.
Sorrell explains how he has reduced his office's budget, improved the tracking of state property, and worked to strengthen election integrity through appointments to county boards of registrars. He also discusses his plans to give the State Auditor's Office greater authority to investigate the loss or misuse of taxpayer property and pursue accountability when state employees damage or mishandle public assets.
The conversation also addresses negative political advertising, Sorrell's response to attacks involving a failed personal investment, and his argument that Republican candidates don't have to abandon conservative principles to win general elections. Sorrell shares his views on government surveillance, including Flock license-plate cameras, and explains why he believes candidates should energize their conservative base before trying to appeal to independent voters.
With Election Day approaching, this conversation examines fiscal conservatism, political integrity, and the responsibility of elected officials to serve Alabama taxpayers rather than Montgomery insiders.
