Rizzi: Okay.
Devy: Bay Packers. Jets going into this game one and We're feeling good right now. this game feels very winnable after the week that the Packers had. A couple injuries, and you know, there's a just a lot of positivities following week one for the Jets. most of us will be in attendance on Sunday. We're still waiting on word. If Matt's gonna be there, it's gonna be a rainy one. It's gonna be a whiteout. It's gonna be electric. I'm really really anticipating a really good c crowd for Sunday. but fellas, how are you feeling going into week two?
Rizzi: Okay.
Devy: Feeling confident, feeling scared? I don't think we're feeling scared at all against the Packers, but how are you feeling?
Rizzi: honestly, I feel good. Like I like what the Jets did last week. I think if you like were a true a true Jets sicko and you actually watched like the all twenty-two highlights, watched the full game, went back and like combed through everything, you see that they dominated
Devy: Mm-hmm.
Rizzi: the Titans physically on a whole nother level. But there's still that Jets trauma where it's like I've experienced enough excitement in my life where I can't let myself get too excited because there's like that shoe always drops and it always goes wrong for us. So like even up until like last week, like until Garrett recovered that onside kick, in my head I was still thinking about how the Titans could come back in this game and we would look like idiots. So I'm excited, but I'm cautiously excited. Like I I I'm
Devy: I was just too optimistic.
Rizzi: cautiously optimistic. I'm not You know, I'm not fully I'm not depressed. I'm more on the optimistic side. I'm cautiously optimistic. I think we will at least compete in this game. Right? We're not gonna go and get blown out like it's you know, butt fumble Thanksgiving.
matt: I think we're definitely gonna compete. That's what I'm excited about. it's not gonna be I mean, if it if it is a blowout like last week, I mean we're I think we're throwing a parade in the parking lot, but I don't think that's what we're gonna get. But I think we're gonna get a nice nice game. like you were saying, when you when you go back and really watch, you come away even more impressed with how well they were coached up and all the things that were wrong last year with this team, even even week one after last year. We were encouraged by what we saw. But there was also so many faults. Like the defense gave up thirty-four points. All that, you know, all that bullshit. But
Devy: Mm-hmm.
matt: it was just exciting to see that they outphysical the team. They outcoached the team. They tackled soundly the whole game. There was really no penalties on defense. And the offensive line is the real strength of the team. And I think that plays big time into their favor against Green Bay, whose offensive line's a complete turnstile. And You know, Lucas Van Ness is in concussion protocol. They got Micah out. Like you can really take advantage of where your advantage is. And we really never have done that in the past, so it's gonna be cool to see if they could do it against the real team.
Rizzi: Yeah. No, ahead. No, go ahead. Yeah, yeah, go ahead, 'cause it it's irr kind of
Devy: Yeah, I'm I'm Go ahead. You sure? I was
Rizzi: irrelevant what I have to say, but
Devy: No, you're good. I I was just gonna kinda piggyback off of that. Like I felt like everything like if you're comparing last year to this year, week one to week two, I feel like everything they did in week two last year, they kind of got away from what they did well in week one. The play calling they played scared essentially. Like they played scared to win. Like we've talked about it for years with Zach. We've always called the game scared to win. And I think that lot of that has to do with who's in the quarterback position. I think that it's they don't fully trust them. They don't wanna have them make mistakes for their confidence to go down. They they want to call a perfect game and they can't afford to make up from a mistake if they if if the quarterback makes one and it it it ends up biting you in the ass. But I think that that's gonna be very different with Gino because you know, obviously Gino is not an elite quarterback by any means. You know, we we know that for sure. But we do know that he can make throws when he needs to. He knows to take the easy play when it's there. He knows to evade the sack. he's he's really his biggest struggle is, you know, is actually when he's in the pocket for too long is when he tends to make mistakes. which is okay. I mean th for what he is, that's totally fine. But in week one last year they ran the ball so well and then in week two they didn't because they just got away from that game plan. Week one this year they ran the ball extremely well. All aspects of the game, everything. There's explosiveness, there was the play calling, they were just committing to it. They were, they were knowing like this is working, we're just gonna continue to run it down their throats. And I think that Sunday, with the way the forecast is looking, I think it's gonna force them to kind of commit to that game plan again. And it's the right game plan. I think it's gonna let them realize that you know, this duo of Brees Hall and Breeland Allen is could be a legit duo. This could be your Gibbs and Montgomery, you know, obviously. I would I don't think it's gonna be to that level because Gibbs is arguably the best running back in the NFL. I I think Reese is good, but don't think he's the best running back in the NFL. But I think it's gonna let them see that game plan a lot. And it also it takes a lot of pressure out the quarterback position when you can run the ball. Again, I think I said it last week. The the key to winning games is dominating the time of possession, dominating the field position and keeping your defense off the field. especially in a game like this where it's gonna be really messy. you you need to keep your defense off the field as much as possible. and you have to set yourself up for the best chance to win. I think that's the way to do it. so I'm I'm actually feeling really good. I wasn't feeling as good last week when it was like the first half of that Packers Vikings game 'cause the Packers were kind of they were just rolling over the Vikings. But then they crumbled. You would think that when Carson Wentz came in that they were gonna, you know, just continue to put their their foot to the gas and just and just roll them over. But like they They crumbled and they were pretty terrible down the stretch. Like really, really bad. Like to the
Rizzi: Yeah.
Devy: point where there's Packer fans are saying LaFleur shouldn't have even been able to leave the the stadium that day. Like he should have been fired right then.
matt: Bro, apparent that seems to be like the big time consensus among Packer fans. They fucking hate him. They hate him.
Devy: Insane, first of all. They hate him. It's insane.
Rizzi: Yeah. Yeah.
Devy: It's insane.
Rizzi: And like I don't want to call Matt LaFleur a bad coach, but like he's very lucky he had Aaron Rodgers when he had him at the beginning of his career. Because if he didn't he
Devy: For sure, but
Rizzi: he's d he's done nothing really with without Aaron Rodgers.
Devy: Okay, they I don't want to make this like a defending Matt LaFor podcast episode, but
Rizzi: Yeah, this is not a defending amount of floor.
Devy: to be fair, I don't think Jordan Love is anything spectacular and they are a pretty good team with Jordan Love. Like, you know, it's like Rogers
Rizzi: Yeah. They are.
Devy: I think set him up for sure. but you know, I don't think I think if he had anybody better than Jordan Love, like they would be insane.
Rizzi: Yeah. I I have a few points.
matt: I was gonna say the opposite. I was gonna say I I think Jordan looks really good.
Rizzi: Yeah, I th I think
Devy: I I'm not sold up.
Rizzi: well, I don't know, like
matt: I th I just think I think I think he has been Enlafour. I think I think them together have really masked issues that have been around since
Rizzi: The rest of the issues.
matt: Rogers left. And like there was no reason if you like when you watch last week, I feel like there's absolutely no reason for them to be in that game. Like Jordan loves running for his life and he's hitting these scramble drills on the money and I he makes quick decisions. Like he'll have like the goofy turnover. But
Devy: Yeah, but my thing is Jordan Love is if you put Jordan Love in any other team, I don't think he's probably not LeFour is so good at scheming bad receivers open. You know what I mean? Like that's like his you
matt: No, that's you. Yeah.
Rizzi: Yeah.
Devy: know I mean that that's his thing. like none of those got those receivers they have are good receivers in my opinion. None
Rizzi: Yeah. Well I I have a few points to to or a few piggybacks off of your points, Dev. Like going back to last year when we played the Bills week two and we looked horrendous and we basically crumbled under the pressure, like the Jets looked so good last year, week one, and I think they had all this pressure on them going into week two that they were such a young team that they could not handle it. Where if you look at this year, like all the pressure was on week one. Like everyone was talking about how if this team lost to the Titans last week, the season was basically over. So in my mind, they've
Devy: Yeah.
Rizzi: they've already passed that like pressure test to where now they're almost playing under like this free mindset coming home. Because they already beat Salah and like sure, if you go home if you come home Sunday and you lose twenty seven nothing to the Packers, yeah, that's a problem. But You could come home and lose twenty-seven twenty-four on a last second field goal, and no one's gonna fucking be crucifying anybody. Right? Like they already took care of the pressure last week to where I think this is a much different team this year coming into this week, coming into this home opener. To where I feel confident, obviously cautiously confident as a Jet fan. And on a second note, like Even though we're going to the game, bring on the rain. I want the rain. I think we fare better in the rain. We could run the ball. We could impose our will in the rain. Like if our secondaries our secondary hasn't been exposed yet, I think they will eventually be exposed. The rain can help our secondary, right? Like the rain is a good thing for us, I think. Even though even though
Devy: N now it is.
Rizzi: we're going, I think the rain is a good thing.
Devy: Yeah, I mean, I don't really care for the ring. It doesn't I mean it's it's just water, we'll be fine. You know what I mean?
Rizzi: Right. Right.
Devy: They're giving out clear ponchos, they're giving out white towels,
Rizzi: Yeah.
Devy: we'll be fine either way. but yeah, I mean I definitely it plays our hand better compared to years past where I think it was the opposite. You know, we we really couldn't rely on a game plan like that. and you know, what's kind of works in our favor too is the Packers don't have that same part of their game. anymore. You know what I mean?
Rizzi: Yeah.
Devy: Josh Jacobs prison. You know what I mean? And they they just don't have anybody that can kind of fill that role to where they can kind of hand the ball off twenty five, thirty times and be like go go ahead and win us a football game. They don't have that anymore. You know, at least that they can rely on and trust. You know what I mean they're still trying to figure that part of their game out. but yeah, I mean I totally agree compared to last year. I mean last year I think the ex expectation was that week one just don't get blown out. You know what I mean? Like it was in you know They they shocked us all. Like there there was n
Rizzi: Yeah.
Devy: nobody anticipated a game like that, like at all.
Rizzi: R and then and then in week two they felt that pressure and they crumbled. So where this year I think they've already felt that pressure, like you already had your pressure week one, like you could not go to Tennessee and lose. The team already
Devy: Right.
Rizzi: felt that and they accomplished what we wanted from them. So I think coming home is almost like you're like you're playing with house money, so to speak, this week.
matt: I also
Devy: Yeah.
matt: like when comparing to last year, the biggest thing that I saw in difference between the diff between the week ones and how I feel going into week two. Like yeah, they surprised us, but like I was saying, there were so many things you could pick on that they did wrong. But this game there really wasn't. And you just see it differently right now. They're they're playing as a team. Like everyone on both sides of the ball, that's where you notice it the most. that they've all taken on the same identity. Like the defense was playing fast and physical and big and like the receivers are blocking and putting people into the ground. And the offensive line, like Memboo's talking shit to the what are those what are they called? The end zone boys. This video is so funny. But I just like, you know, they have a swagger about them. They're not just like, you know, it's not like offense defense. It seems like it's a cohesive thing. And it showed up you know, like you said on Rizzy on the on the tape, like watching the all twenty-two, watching everyone, you know, the combo blocks and just all that stuff. It that makes me more it makes me more confident going to the game, but it also makes me more excited to see where they really stack up. Because of course they could
Rizzi: Hmm. And like
matt: like I'm I'm like I'm not worried that they're gonna go and get blown out and I'm not like even if they lose, I'm just excited to see where they you know, where they do stack up against a legitimate team, even if they do lose, it's like where do we really stand? And then if
Devy: Yeah.
matt: they win,
Rizzi: Right.
matt: it's like, you know, that really does prove something. As much as Green Bay has its faults, you know, going two and and beating up on the Packers, right. You they
Rizzi: They're still a good team with a good head coach and a good quarterback.
Devy: yeah, yeah.
matt: yeah, right. As like they have they have the better quarterback, they have the better head coach. If you can go impose your will on them and play the play your style of game and
Rizzi: Yeah.
matt: win, that's impressive.
Rizzi: Yeah. It it's it's interesting, like
matt: So that's what I that's what I'm excited to see. I I wanna I like I
Rizzi: Yeah.
matt: said, I wanna see where they where they stack up, if they can translate the style of play, yet improve. Let's
Rizzi: Yeah. Like,
matt: see.
Rizzi: me and Devin have been at plenty of games where we are the, you know, we're the last twenty-five percent of the people in the building, 'cause whatever, we're just gonna hang out and watch the l the fourth quarter because we're down by twenty-seven. Like I would be very, very shocked if that's how Sunday plays out for us. Like truly. Like we might not win,
Devy: I w yeah. I totally agree.
Rizzi: but I think we'll at least be in it. Like whether we lose by a touchdown or we lose by a field goal, I think we'll be in it. And you know, to Matt's point, like if you go back and watch the film, like as optimistic as I am, like I left Sunday being like shit, like this Titan team is pretty bad and like from the box score it didn't look that great. But then, you know, as Tuesday Wednesday comes out or c like Tuesday Wednesday the week goes on and you watch the rest of the film, you're like, actually like we dominated these guys. Like they're lucky that we only beat them twenty through to ten. Exactly. Exactly.
Devy: Boxware box score doesn't tell everything. Box ball does not tell the story of a game at all. I think that's defin definitely that's a game that does it. I mean, like they weren't they didn't need to throw for 350 to 400 yards. You know what I mean? Like they didn't have to do that. They didn't have to score five touchdowns to win that game. they knew how to how to beat the Titans and they they executed a flawlessly that could be sold last week. Now, I think it could be a very similar game plan again this week for the the Packers. the I don't even see it's like a like the concern for me is Honestly, I don't really have many concerns going into the Packer game. Just 'cause like I just feel like the I don't know, like the Packers to me just seem kind of messy. Like that's just the way I look at them. Like they don't seem like a team that Pip is calling me. they don't seem like a team that's like
Rizzi: I think you might you might want to answer that. Just see what he says.
Devy: Are you like good for the night? No, we're we're like kind of like we're
Rizzi: We're on the pod, Pip!
Devy: we're kinda just getting started. okay. Yeah, everybody say hi to Pip. Pip is calling in right
Rizzi: Hey Pep!
Devy: now. He's coming onto the pod. I'll be home in like ten minutes. Alright, we'll probably still be here. Alright, cool. Alright, bye.
Rizzi: Pip is just buckled after his grandma's birthday dinner. That is
Devy: but no I was
Rizzi: Mike
Devy: saying but the Packers it's just like they're just I don't know like I'm just I don't think anyone's ever been totally sold on the Packers and I think like this is a game
Rizzi: No.
Devy: that I mean like I look at it you look at it back I think it was 2022 when we went into Green Bay beat Rodgers. That was a game that everyone was saying there's no way the Jets are winning this game. The Packers weren't even that good then. And they weren't even that absolutely
Rizzi: And they and they dominated them with Rogers.
Devy: Absolutely blew them out. And that was continuing. It was the same thing moving on from there. You know, in Pete and Denver. Like there was just so many. You just go on a little bit of a run there. You know, I'm not gonna go out and say that I think this is a must win game, but it's a game that
Rizzi: No.
Devy: if you have the chance to win this game, you have to do everything you can to win this game. because you win this game, but you start off 2 0, you'll probably lose the next two. Maybe not. You know, but if you I call this a None of must win a must compete game. Because if this is a must compete game, if you can come out of this game feeling good of where you're at, going to Detroit, in my opinion, looks very beatable right now. Very beatable.
Rizzi: Yeah. I I agree.
Devy: With the way they're playing tonight against Buffalo, they look absolutely terrible. And honestly, the way they looked against the Saints, they were not good against the Saints at all. And I don't think we're very far away from the Saints. I think the Saints quarterback, they have a young quarterback that's run, but I don't think we're far from that team at all. You know, it's a it's a very winnable game. you know, it's they just need to just commit. And I I honestly I've been hearing so much out of this this week across the board from every single player that has spoken. And I think a lot of it has to do with there's so much veteran leadership now on this team compared to last year. Like we said a couple episodes ago, you have a veteran player at every position in every position. Which i is a huge, huge benefit. And you can s you can really see it in how it's playing a role. And it you know, there's somebody that's leading each unit here and it's holding players accountable. It's they're they're all buying into the mentality. Honestly, even like I don't know if everyone's gonna agree with this, but you can see from Brees too. Brees is looks like he's like fucking happy to be here. Like he's fucking bought in.
Rizzi: Yeah. Right.
matt: Brees and Garrett, Brees and Garrett look like the
Rizzi: Yeah.
matt: happiest they've ever been.
Rizzi: Right. And I was gonna say, like,
Devy: There you're fucking bought in.
Rizzi: everybody thinks of DiMario and Mika and Harrison Phillips and Gino as a veterans, but like think of how long Garrett and Brees have been around. Like they are veterans at this point. Like they've they have been
matt: They are they are now too.
Devy: They've been into the fucking trenches.
Rizzi: through the ringer with this Jets organization and and now they're on this
Devy: Yeah.
Rizzi: side of it. And obviously, yeah, maybe it's too early to say that this is the good side of it, but at least, you know
Devy: It's a sign of things to come is what it is. It's it's you're not you're not out of it yet, but you're it's you're you're seeing the light at the end of the tunnel and
Rizzi: When you walk it yeah, it and w right. Yes. Yeah. Right. And when you walk and when these guys walk into the facility every day, there are adults in every single room. And you don't have to worry about Rob Sala and his sixty percent T shirts and and the bullshit that comes along with it. Right. Right. Exactly. Yeah.
Devy: The cro the cr the the crows the crows nipping up their tails and then all that bullshit with it. You know, yeah, I mean it it's the one
matt: Did you know? Did you know?
Devy: thing you know
matt: I'm not gonna do it.
Rizzi: Matt, I'm not kidding Matt, I'm not kidding. I have memorized the entire Marcelino Marcelino Macrary ball speech, bro. Like
matt: I was gonna do it, but I'm not going to. the McRae.
Devy: I have it s
matt: I thought you were talking about I was. I'll go get the
Devy: I thought you were talking about the solid speech.
Rizzi: No, no, no, that that that speech I've I've wiped from my memory. It's the Marcelino McCurry ball. Like
matt: I go get the ball, bruh.
Rizzi: Yeah, every time I'm on that field bro I wanna get that ball, bro. You got you
Devy: Dude, so insane.
Rizzi: gotta talk about three now, I'm talking about one and out, bro. Like I would
Devy: Yeah.
Rizzi: die f like, get me his jersey, bro.
matt: It's so awesome, dude.
Devy: my god, dude. But
Rizzi: But
Devy: no, but I was gonna say is like kind of leading into that, you know, I mean you're walking into that building and you know it's also like I feel like in years past, like it was kind of like they Garrett and Brees were looked at like the guys to kind of turn it around. Whereas I feel like now that pressure's not there anymore, you know, the stick on what you were saying earlier, like there's not as much pressure anymore on it. They're here, you know, they both got their extensions, so they're not playing for the extension anymore, so it's not really about them. Now it's really about the team. but it but's interesting is I'm not sure if you guys saw, but I definitely wanna have to talk about this for a couple minutes. I know it doesn't really relate to this week's game, but the EDT stuff on how I felt like a loser every single time I was there, and now I don't feel like loser. All I want to say to that is guess what, bud? You were part of the fucking problem. What were you doing to contribute to not being a loser with your two torn triceps and back to back
Rizzi: Yeah.
Devy: seasons, your torn Achilles, you you're on the IR. every s every year you were drafted. So you're gonna
Rizzi: Right.
Devy: sit there and say that you're you felt like a loser, but you did nothing to change that. You looked out for yourself the entire time.
Rizzi: And and and listen, like I'm not gonna fault somebody for being hurt like you're hurt, like whatever it is. But but the fact
Devy: The lay off the skull cushers.
Rizzi: that you go to another franchise and then talk about the franchise that you were just with about how they're losers, that makes you a loser. Like you are a loser, right.
Devy: You're a loser. You focus on your home team.
matt: Dude, I was just gonna I was just gonna say I don't even I literally don't even have anything to say about the people
Rizzi: Like if Brady was still on the Patriots, he would not let AVT say that at all. Like that is loser shit. He's speaking like a loser to blame the organization that you were just with. Sorry, Matt.
matt: People the people that are still hung up on the I was like, I don't even want to like give it the time of day. It's just I feel like I'm so over all those guys. I don't even like like what did any of you
Devy: They're losers. They
matt: do? What did you like what did any of you do? Nothing, that's it. End of story. Goodbye. Dude, I don't like I don't I don't even remember
Devy: When w when was the last time you heard Sauce Gardner's name called? When like generally.
matt: A V T. I
Rizzi: Two
matt: don't care, Jermaine J like, goodbye. That's it. Like turning a new leaf, like
Devy: The the one g the the one guy
Rizzi: Dunchie
Devy: the one guy that I actually like kind of am like I'm excited to see and you know, he's actually played pretty well last week is Quinn Williams.
Rizzi: Yeah, like I love Q, man.
matt: And you know what? He's a gr and he's a great guy and he was excited for them when they won. He was commenting on Gary V's posts. That's a real leader.
Rizzi: Exactly.
Devy: Yeah, like
matt: That's why.
Devy: I I like me love
Rizzi: Like it
Devy: the trade, great trade, but could you imagine he was on that D line right now? Like it would be nice, dude.
Rizzi: Yeah, be and you gotta
matt: I love him.
Rizzi: think like you can't re No, you can't because you can't hate him because like Q was here with Todd Bowles. Like Q was here for all
matt: Yeah, I should not I should I'm I should not rope him in with those other schmucks. No. Never. Never.
Devy: No, you can't.
Rizzi: of it. And even up until he was traded, like he kept everything as private as possible. Like he never brought
matt: Absolutely.
Rizzi: it to the media, he never shit talked to Jets. He still hasn't shit talked to Jets. So it's hard for me to hate Q. Like I I think I'll always love Q, man. I really will.
Devy: No. yeah, I agree. Yeah.
matt: No, I would never no. I yeah. He's in my mind he doesn't even count for the guys that were gone like he's totally excluded from everything I said. Yeah. Yeah.
Rizzi: But dude and his trade was so beneficial for us too. Like
Devy: He's the type of guy I can see he I think he just signed a contract though, like when he is like a later older free agent, like coming back. Like
Rizzi: Yeah. He'll be like the Harrison
matt: Hundred percent. Mm-hmm.
Rizzi: Phillips in like three years.
Devy: Yeah, like I can I can I can totally see that.
Rizzi: Like how Harrison Phillips came to us, he'll come back as like the Harrison Phillips role. As like the unk. Yeah.
matt: I can see that.
Devy: Yeah. I know, but
Rizzi: Should should we get into what we want to see this week and like kind of our Yeah. Sorry.
Devy: Does I was just about I was just about to get there, it's kinda like
matt: I was gonna say we could do we could
Devy: what we wanna say.
matt: do a quick a quick what we wanna see and what we're worried about, something like that.
Devy: Yeah, Brizzy, I'm gonna have you kick us off and kind of like what do you wanna see from the team this weekend? do both what you want to see and what you don't wanna see in from the team this weekend,
Rizzi: Yeah.
Devy: and then they're like, We'll go from there on.
Rizzi: Yeah. Well like we've touched on it before, like Robert saw like the past teams we've had, his teams will come out completely unprepared and you would you would see it from snap one. Like you would know it from the jump. I wanna see this team prepared. If it's raining, or even if if it's not raining, or if it's raining, I don't care. I wanna see this offensive line impose their will. I want us to focus on the run. I want Gino to have like max like thirty pass attempts. and I think we will. Like I think this this Packers defensive line without Mika Parsons, they're terrible. Their secondary has issues. Like, I think we could run the ball on them. I expect a big game from Braylon Allen. And in terms of what I'm worried about, like I still am a little gun shy about our secondary. Like I'm just waiting for our secondary to get exposed. I think they will at some point. That doesn't mean that like we're gonna look like we're not gonna be embarrassed, but I think our secondary will get exposed. We're gonna give up points like We're just not skilled enough right now, right? So I am a little worried. I think I know Dev you said like Packers receivers are overhyped, but like I I I honestly I think I like I like the the guys that they have. I I think Jordan Love is maybe even a little bit underrated. so yeah, I think if I'm worried about anything, it's our secondary. Like eventually that dam is gonna break. Sure, if you have to bring in Dane Belton and Sean Wright against the Titans, that's fine. But if you have to do that against the Titan or against the Packers and the Lions and the Bears, like eventually you will get somewhat exposed. So I think that's probably what
Devy: Yeah.
Rizzi: I'm most worried about. But I think from a positive standpoint, run the fuck out of the football. And that's it.
Devy: Two Matt.
matt: Yeah. Yep. For me, what I wanna see is exactly what I was saying before. I wanna see well, clean up on offense, clean up the pre snap penalties. They did in the second half, but the first half, you know, i it's week one. But we don't I don't wanna see pre snap penalties in the rain, you know, lose killing drives. The timely penalties is what is what the real issue is, but I digress. But I wanna see You know, like you said, pound the rock, but I also want to see the ball pushed down the field a little bit like they did last week. And then my main issue, Rizzy, you kinda hit on it, the defense. I do think if you get Jordan Lub in those scramble drills, I think like, you know, Watson and Golden are gonna be good for a couple big plays. So I wouldn't be you know, they're gonna give up more points than three, I would I would guess. I think this is gonna be a little more higher scoring, but
Devy: Mm-hmm.
matt: but close. But you know, the Packers are a team, they've lost six or s what is it? Yeah, six games without Micah. And if they lose this one, their season's really in jeopardy and things start to get hot. So I think they're they're gonna come out ready to play. So I wanna see us come out ready to play and just battle start to finish. I don't wanna see you know, coming out losing seventeen nothing and then having to claw back and I don't wanna see blowing a lead either. Just Play four quarters as a team. That's it.
Devy: Yeah, the num the the thing I really want to see the cup come week one is when that coin goes up and that coin hits the grass, I want us to win that toss and I want us to take the ball. I don't want us to defer. I want us to
matt: Score first. Yes. Yep.
Devy: get the ball, I want us to control the game around the rip, run the run the ball down and just, you know, you set the tempo of what that game needs to be. And from there, you know, let your defense do it. I think that that gives your offense so much confidence if that you can just take it and you can just run it down the throw something there. Put seven up on the board, do exactly what you did last last week. Score a touchdown on your first drive and build a habit out of that because that's going to be the difference of, you know, what this offense was in the past and what this offense is going to be moving forward. what I what I don't wanna see is play scared, like I said earlier. I don't want them to play scared because of the weather. I don't want them to play scared because of who their opponent is, thinking that their opponent is better than they are, so they need to be careful of how they play. I love how aggressive that they were last week fourth and one, fourth and two, wherever they were in the in the field position. I want them to do the same thing again this week, especially with it being potentially raining, very windy. We know how the wind gets in there. I don't want us forcing a field goal kick if we don't have to do it. If it's fourth and five and you're kind of there, go for it. You know what I
Rizzi: Yeah.
Devy: mean? Like i you more than likely you're gonna miss that kick in that weather. I'd rather us turn the ball over on downs and miss a kick there. Because at least we tried to get closer to either putting up seven or setting us up setting ourselves up for, you know, a better field goal attempt there. so that that's the big thing that I want to see. is you know, show show your confidence, show your aggressiveness, and you know, build off of what it was last week. Because, you know, obviously the Titans aren't the Packers. It's like we've been saying the entire time. they're you know, they're a bottom team in the league. The Packers are considered a Super Bowl contender. You know, we're a team that's looking to, you know, turn heads, you know, and make people say, damn, you know, the jets might be for real. you know, my next just one more question before we finish up here. And I'm sorry, Pip up I'm probably not gonna wait for because it'll end up being an hour episode.
Rizzi: Okay.
Devy: but who is who on the Packers right now concerns you the most? Because there is no Michael Parsons, there is no Josh Jacobs. So that definitely changes things a lot. Who is it on the Packers that you really think is gonna be the one the person that we really need to watch out for? Rizzy?
Rizzi: I not sorry, Matt, if you had the same idea, but like I think it's the receiver. I think it's Matt Golden and Christian Watson. Like I said, I as much
matt: I was gonna see yeah, I was gonna say Watson.
Rizzi: as I, you know, I'm an A G Glazer and I believe in A G and I believe in the defense, like this secondary will break down at some point and maybe it's not this week, but these receivers do have a chance to take advantage of our secondary. Like if the pass rush doesn't get home And if we don't scheme it up properly and if if love is seeing the field really well, he could take advantage of our secondary being, you know, for lack of a better term, S. Like so I think it's Christian Watson and Matt Golden. Those are probably the guys that worry me the most. I don't worry about anything on on the like on our offensive side of the ball, I don't really worry about nothing. I don't worry about their O line. It's more so their secondary. But if our pass rush can get home against their shit O line, then it might not matter at all.
matt: Yeah, mine's yeah, I was gonna say completely agree. Watson and Golden, but I was gonna say mainly Watson, but kind of in the same sense of what happened last week. You know, if we're gonna be blitz happy and love evades some pressure, buys himself time, Watson gets open and that's kind of his calling card. Those deep ball jump balls down the field. You even drawing a P I with, you know, Pons is gonna make his debut, Stevens who's grabby, like you don't Like that's that's where I think things can get dicey and that's what I'm looking out for.
Devy: Yeah, I can definitely see where you guys come from on that. Mine's actually a dark horse. Kind of like I don't think anyone's really thinking about him being someone that can beat us, but mine's Tuckercraft. I I don't have much faith in those over the years defending tight ends. I feel like tight ends chew us up and spit us out every single time. And he's a guy he was hurt towards the end of last year, minor towards ACL, I forget. but you know, I'm definitely he's the type of guy that I can see him trying to have an impact game here. so I'm definitely that's who I am. I can I see your guys' points as well. but you know, we'll just have to see. That that's that's pretty much it. I'm not worried about their run game. I'm not worried about anything on defensive.
matt: And we all got the same we all got the same concern.
Rizzi: Yeah, I I think I think that Tucker Kraft fear is kinda like some like that solid trauma is like still baked into us about how we could just never cover the tight ends. Like that might
Devy: Yeah, I mean
Rizzi: be where it's sent from but but you're right, like our defense is vulnerable in certain spots and I at some point it's gonna beat us, right?
Devy: I but but the reason the reason the reason I say that is because I can see them looking at the film this week and seeing what you know Christian Watson did Matthew Golden did last week and then Glenn saying they can't beat us to speak with these guys. And then that this leaves everything for Tuckercraft right there for the taking. You know what I mean?
Rizzi: Right. And you know what?
Devy: Like that's that's what I can see there. Which is listen, if they beat us with just Tucker Kraft that meet Will Watson and Golden down, kudos to you. You know what
Rizzi: And you know what? Like
Devy: I mean? But I just don't want it to happen, essentially. I I I
Rizzi: Yeah.
Devy: really just don't want I want our secondary to improve.
Rizzi: And you know what, I know everyone's tired of like the Detroit comparisons, but like those Detroit teams were very much of a bend don't break, they're gonna give up some points, but ultimately they're gonna win type of defense. And if you get beat with a tight end and you're not letting anything over the top and the receivers aren't killing you, then so be it, right? Like that's fine. Pippy, look at
matt: Pip here as we're wrapping.
Rizzi: you, you beautiful
Devy: Peppy, we're
Rizzi: bastard. Where'd you guys go for dinner, Pip? Where'd you go for dinner?
Pip: Claritios and Friold.
matt: I never
Rizzi: I'm gonna knock.
matt: tried that place. I gotta try it.
Rizzi: Clarizios,
Devy: Yeah.
Rizzi: hey? What'd you have? Cacho Pepe or what here, Pip? Cacho Pepe I'm gonna nut.
Pip: Nah, we gotta Yeah, exactly. Spicy vodka chicken parm with some pasta was fantastic.
Devy: Nice, nice, nice. All right, we'll pip we're we'll wrap it up in a in a few minutes, but we're glad that you're here to you're here
Pip: Sounds good.
Devy: to film it in. So
Rizzi: Deb, can you can you give us the spark notes of everything that we just talked about in in your version of what you're worried about, what you're excited about, who you think is gonna beat us, who you think is gonna be important for the Jets. Give us those spark notes within like five to ten minutes.
Pip: Alright, just quickly for this yeah yeah. This upcoming week. Gotcha. This upcoming week right now. The first two minute drill. All right. On the clock. All right. All
Devy: No, you have five minutes. You have five minutes, Max. Timer starts now. Actually, no. Two minute drill. You have two minutes. Two minutes. Two minutes clock starts now.
matt: Think even l yeah, I was gonna say five minutes. Jeez.
Pip: right. The first thing that we have to worry about the most is gonna be Christian Watson on the outside. We have to make sure that we cover him completely and he can't be the one to beat us. The next thing that we have to do is win the battle on the inside. This isn't about strength versus strength and who's better. This is gonna be about their weakness against our strength. If we win on the inside on both the offensive line and the defensive line, we have no problem winning this game at all. All right. You let Matthew Golden beat you. I like Matthew Golden. I think he's a good receiver, but if he beats you, so be it. Marshawn Lloyd is fucking horrible. And that offensive line is a joke. That run game shouldn't be a problem whatsoever. You get David Bailey going on the edge. It's gonna free up Will McDonald on the other side. Jordan Love has no time to throw. I mean, we already showed the way. We already know that the blitz works against them. We don't have to do it at the rate that the Vikings did to do it. We have better edge rushers, I think, than the Vikings. I think at the end of the day, those two guys are specials down there. You get there, you get pressure. Game's done in one. Brees Hall, just keep running it down their throats. I don't trust their defensive line for shit. Garrett Wilson will get his time. As soon as we rush it, we'll get open on the outside. We just take shots deep at some point. Garrett's gonna get open at some point deep in the game. AD Mitchell, you what he's gonna do. You're gonna get three or four catches for 50 to 60 yards. Done deal. And those tight ends, boy, those tight ends are fucking good. I cannot wait for Sunday.
Rizzi: Let's fucking
Devy: pretty good, but that was two minutes two minutes on the dot.
matt: That was that was the two minutes on the dot and I think hit on things that we brought every every
Devy: Yeah.
Pip: Mm-hmm.
Devy: You you hit you hit on everything, but no, that that was that was sick. So that's gonna be a new segment moving forward at the end of every pod. Pipp Pip's two minute drill is gonna be
Pip: jeez, yeah I'll just I'll just pop in at the the thirty minute mark and send it.
Rizzi: Pip's two minute drill.
Devy: that's gonna be what it is.
Rizzi: Yeah.
Devy: That's all he has to do is for his two minute get his points across. But with that being
Rizzi: Should we to incorporate Sharp, we should we do like a podcast parlay kind of like our favorite prop for for the guys that are on? I know mine. I
Devy: Yeah, what's what's what's for the guys that are on
Rizzi: have mine, I've been thinking about mine all week. I got Braylon
Devy: Yeah, you can kick us off and start with yours first.
Rizzi: Allen touchdown.
Pip: Mm-hmm.
Rizzi: That might be the loser right away, but I don't know. I got Braylon
Devy: Yeah.
Rizzi: Allen. He looked so good last week, but it just didn't pay off for him. Yeah.
Pip: I mean he did have the touch, I just got called back.
Devy: Matt, what's yours?
Rizzi: Or to Mario Davis interception to the house.
matt: Hmm. My prop for the week.
Rizzi: I'll go over the ledge if if Demario picks Jordan level off and goes to the house, I will legitimately nosedive off the ledge.
Pip: Ha ha ha.
matt: Off the ledge. Gimme the whatever whatever the whatever the yards
Rizzi: Ha ha ha.
matt: are, give me the eighty eighty Mitchell yards. I don't care.
Rizzi: Add that to my card.
Devy: eighty Mitchell yards. Pip.
Pip: Give me the Jets money line.
Devy: Okay, Jets Money Line.
Rizzi: Add that to add that to my card.
Devy: Jets money line and mine is going to be Huh, this is tough actually. Cause mine would have been interception, but can you even take that?
Rizzi: You could take like a defensive inter you could take an intercep you could take Jordan Love over zero point five interception, probably on some sports book.
Devy: Alright, I'm do I'm do I'm doing that. Whatever the pro whatever the prop is for the Jets have an interception on Sunday, I'm taking it. That is a problem. We're getting it.
Rizzi: It's gonna be DiMario. It's gonna be like Dev, obviously you where two thirty one A is, right in that end zone. The Packers gonna be backed up at like the five yard line. DiMario's gonna bluff a blitz. Jordan Love's not gonna see him. He's gonna throw it where he thinks the slant's gonna be. De Mario's gonna be right there and take it back to the house. So we're gonna go fucking nuts.
Devy: There you go. Perfect. All right, guys. Well, this is our our our our Jets our Jets sharp predictions here. You you got Rizzy with Braven Allen touchdown, Pip, Jets money line, Matt AD Mitchell yards, whatever it is. We don't know what it is, but he's he's gonna take that, and I'm gonna take a Jets interception. We got Pips two minute drill, he wrapped that up for us, and that's gonna be our new segment moving forward. But guys, let's win a fucking football game again this week. Two and like I said last week, continue to shock the world. The Jets are gonna be roll beaters, you know. I wanna be coming on this pod I guess late Sunday night if if we're at the game and recapping this. I don't know how we're gonna do this, but we'll have Marco here next week with us. you know
matt: If I'm there and if I'm
Rizzi: We gotta
matt: there and they win if if I if
Rizzi: get him in we gotta get him in the post game, 'cause he'll be with me so I could just put the camera like, force him to be in the pod.
Pip: Yeah, have fun Sunday, guys.
Devy: Yeah, yeah.
matt: I'm at the game and we win, we're doing postgame from Laj. Yeah, we are.
Rizzi: I'm saying in the lot. We could do it in the lot. I don't know how the
Devy: yeah, yeah, okay, that's good. We'll beat we can beat the trap with
Rizzi: the the service is kind of shit, but I don't know. We can figure it out. Yeah, we'll figure it out. Well Matt proved
matt: Who cares? If they win we're drinking and recording in the lot and we're saying
Devy: We'll f we'll figure it out. Yeah. We'll figure we'll we'll figure it out.
Rizzi: that it doesn't matter what your service is, Riverside still transmits it pretty clearly. So
matt: Dude, dude, I don't understand, but we'll take it.
Pip: Yeah, I'll dial in guys, don't you worry.
Devy: Yeah, but
Rizzi: I don't know how that happened, dude. You like I literally could not hear you. Like your voice was your screen was gone and your voice it sounded like you were like in space. Yeah, legit. Legit.
Devy: It sounded like you're being abducted by aliens, but alrighty
matt: Who says I wasn't?
Devy: guys. Well, let's do it. Buffalo's up big right now, so it looks like we
Rizzi: Fuck
Devy: won't have sole position at first place after we win next week, but DJ Moore did die tonight, so rest
Pip: Yeah, but DJ Moore's dead.
Rizzi: Doesn't matter. It doesn't matter. We're worried about ourselves.
Devy: rest in peace to DJ Moore. And I will see you guys at the rainy whiteout on Monday. Later. See you later.
Rizzi: Sounds good fellas. Let's go Jets.
Pip: I won't see you there, but good luck.
Rizzi: Love you boys.
Pip: See ya.
