Speaker 1: Chad, here is one big thing on every NFL game for Week 8. Here we go. Thursday night football. Tonight, you've got Panthers and Packers. The Panthers lead the NFC South, the only division where no team is above. 500. Meanwhile, the Packers are at the bottom of the NFC North, where all of the teams are above. 500. Bryce Young took five sacks last week, blitzed on only 24% of his dropbacks, and Green Bay is the only team yet to rush for 100 yards in a game this season. Carolina allows... five yards per carry. And five of Green Bay's seven games stayed under the total. 47.5 is the total here. Packers, minus 3.5. Check it out at hardrock.bet. Sunday night football. The Eagles are 2-5. The Commanders are 1-4-1. But they're on Sunday night football. Here's the explanation of why. They could have flexed this game. The Bills and Ravens are playing. But Baltimore plays on Thursday night football next week, and the league will not schedule Sunday night to Thursday night turnaround on a team that also eliminated the Jacksonville Jaguars. Kansas City and Denver, CBS protected that game. Don't blame them. Vikings and Lions, they're on Sunday night football in week 15, and it's a requirement that one instance of each divisional matchup must air on a Sunday afternoon network. I did not know that. So they're doing that this week because they're on Sunday night football later. Browns and Steelers, same restriction. They've already played on Thursday Night Football. So here you go with this rare occurrence where they couldn't find a better alternative given all these restrictions with broadcast agreements. So they're going with this terrible matchup.
00:02:28
Speaker 2: I mean, even the propaganda machine of an NBC that does a great job with Football Night in America and on-field hits with everyone. Mike Tomlin's going to be there on site, who's been terrific, by the way.
00:02:40
Speaker 1: Yeah, he has been.
00:02:40
Speaker 2: And some of his quotes and soundbites of what he said about the league. He's been great to watch. But even Mike Tomlin and Maria Taylor and everyone, you cannot hype up this game. There is nothing you can say about this game that's going to really get people excited for Sunday night football. But here's what I know about that primetime slot on NBC. People will watch.
00:03:02
Speaker 1: Yeah, we will.
00:03:03
Speaker 2: It's still going to do a bigger number than anything else on Sunday night. Hard rock bet we'll have it as well.
00:03:08
Speaker 1: Monday night football, Bears on the road against the Seahawks, 5-2 against 4-3. The Bears have a three-day rest advantage coming into the game. but they do have to travel. Chicago's run game, they average 150 yards per game on the ground, but Seattle just shut down Kenneth Walker III and the Chiefs a week ago. Bears have won three straight. Seattle just handed KC their first loss. Bears are 5-2 against the spread. Seahawks are favored by three over under 46.5. Chiefs and Broncos is Sunday afternoon, late afternoon. KC lost. They totaled just 213 yards on offense. The Broncos have won three straight. Congratulations, JT. Denver initially opened as a 1.5-point favorite. It's now Chiefs minus 1.5. It's flipped to the opposite, over under 40.5 there. Chargers are on the road, quote-unquote, against the Rams. Zero travel game. Both teams play at SoFi. Chargers are the league's only winless team now. They're coming off of a bye where the ownership opted to keep the coaching staff intact. The Rams are really banged up at wide receiver. The Chargers will have Joe Alt return to the offensive line this week. Rams are favored by 6.5. It was at 7.5, so it's moved down. And the over-under there is 44.5. I don't know. What does Vegas know there? 6.5. Patriots and Dolphins.
00:04:24
Speaker 2: Chargers, by the way, 0-6 still hot. Are they going to have the number one overall pick?
00:04:30
Speaker 1: Right now, they do.
00:04:31
Speaker 2: Are they going to be able to draft Jeremiah Smith? As this thing plays out, I'm not really thinking about them, even though... They're in the driver's seat right now to get the number one overall pick, which is wild to think about with the expectations coming into this season.
00:04:47
Speaker 1: They can't do anything. They can't run the football, which is crazy for who's coaching them. Patriots and Dolphins, Chad. New England has the rest advantage. They're coming off of a loss to Chicago. Dolphins won their first game on the road in New York, so now back to Hard Rock Stadium. Weather could be a big factor. Chance of thunderstorms in Miami Gardens. Patriots favored by a touchdown. Over-under at 44. New England's... The over has hit in the last five AFC East games for New England. So take that as you wish. Vrabels had a good record against them. Early afternoon kickoffs. Headlined by the Ravens and Bills. This is a 1 o'clock Eastern kickoff. Withrow's coaching advantage example is happening right here. Buffalo comes off the bye week. They come off the bye week, and you've got back-to-back divisional losses without Lamar Jackson for Baltimore. They're blown out after giving up 35 points in Cincy, and you've got Baltimore back on the road this week after you've got a team coming off the bye. Jackson is expected to return and start over Huntley on Sunday in Buffalo. Bills by a field goal here, over under 54.5.
00:05:55
Speaker 2: I knew when I saw that line of Buffalo only minus three at home, Lamar Jackson must be playing. Because if he's not playing, this thing is probably closer to 9.5 or 10 for Buffalo in this game. So that's the big difference in this one. Big moment here for Baltimore.
00:06:12
Speaker 1: Huge.
00:06:13
Speaker 2: Big, big moment where I feel like earlier in the year, the Patriots kick-started their season with a win in Buffalo. Currently the Bills only lost when the Patriots beat them. I think it's a chance for the Ravens to replicate that where they could get They could get going uphill here towards the top of the AFC if they can now go on the road and beat the Bills.
00:06:33
Speaker 1: Yes, and you've got the Ravens trying to avoid a 500 record. They're 4-3 right now. Vikings are 6-0. They're on the road in Detroit. Vikings, the last team unbeaten. Brian Flores, the defense allows just 12 points per game. It's legit. Minnesota's won 11 straight regular season games, and they average 20 points per game on offense. Lions by 3.5, though, here. And you've got over-under at 46. Detroit just 1-5 against the spread on the year. Detroit favored by 3.5 here. Browns and Steelers, first place in the AFC North happening right here. Both teams 5-2. The Browns have won five of their last six. They hold a win over Pittsburgh from Thursday Night Football exactly one month ago. And last week, Cleveland's offense had 491 yards and 26 first downs. The Steelers are coming off of that game in Paris. Totals at 39. It's the lowest of the week eight games. Steelers are favored by three and a half at home. Cardinals and Cowboys, Jack. And by the way, a good spot, I think, to.
00:07:33
Speaker 2: Pick Cleveland money line with Pittsburgh coming back from Paris.
00:07:37
Speaker 1: I think so, too.
00:07:38
Speaker 2: They avoided the riots in Paris, but they didn't avoid the long flight to and from. I see that three and a half point line right now at Hard Rock Bet, and I think it's a nice little spot to pick those cardiac Browns again to go on the road and.
00:07:53
Speaker 1: Pull off a A slight upset. Watson's playing very well, too. Cardinals are on the road against the Cowboys. This is a one o'clock kickoff, a rare one o'clock kickoff for Dallas. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is not ruling out bringing Troy Aikman back to Dallas. After they spoke on the field Monday night for like 10 minutes, Jones said, quote, he could and would want to hire him for a role with the team. It takes two there to make that deal happen. Highest total of the week eight board is at 54 and a half. Cowboys favored by six and a half. Buccaneers and Falcons. Atlanta handed San Francisco their first loss of the season a week ago. The Bucs dominated the Panthers in Baker Mayfield's return to quarterback. Bucs had four takeaways, and they rushed for 250 yards in that game. Tampa started 0-4, but a win here gives them a 2-0 start in the division. Buccaneers favored by 2.5 against Atlanta. Colts and Jaguars. Rain is in the forecast. The Colts have waved the white flag. They've traded Quentin Nelson to Seattle. DeForest Buckner's traded back to the 49ers. Jags are coming off a bye week here. Jags opened at 7.5. It's now 9 over under at 47. That keeps going up and up after all the trades. The white flag was raised. Raiders and Jets, Chad. Raiders have dropped four straight games. They're now 3-4. Jets are 2-5. But the Raiders are allowing 30 or more points in all of their four losses. Teams are putting up a ton of yards and points. Brees Hall is questionable for the Jets. He has not played since week three. There's a chance he could. I think he's back to practice. If he's not, he's limited in practice. Jets favored by a point and a half. And you're over under there at hard rock bets is at 45. What's the old ABBA song, Fernando?
00:09:43
Speaker 2: I think they sing a song called Fernando. Let's start. Let's cue that up and start playing it because I think it's quickly becoming Fernando time.
00:09:52
Speaker 1: Yeah, it's time.
00:09:53
Speaker 3: It's time.
00:09:53
Speaker 2: It's time. Kirk Cousins. Also, it's time to maybe think about the next step, the way this thing is going south for the. Raiders. We're quickly approaching Fernando Mendoza time.
00:10:05
Speaker 1: For the Raiders. I will say, though, they've already exceeded expectations based on their start. First year coach, how they've handled the first overall pick. Very good job overall because even in those 30-point games, they were in some of those games. Chad, the Titans are not in some of these games. Will they be in this game as they go on the road to face the 4-2 Cincinnati Bengals? A very telling game here for Tennessee is Tony Pollard on the trade block. Deadline is November 10th. Are they looking to acquire draft picks or do they have to keep talent around Cam Ward. Keep an eye on how many touches he receives because he's a huge part of the entire offense. Do they slow him down thinking they want to keep him healthy for a trade? The Titans will play, I guess they play Elante Taylor. We'll see. He was dressed last week, did not play a single snap, but here they've taken on Chase and Higgins. Largest spread of the week eight, looks like 10 and a half, Chad.
00:10:59
Speaker 2: I think he's the one person with the Titans that I somewhat pity right now is Elante Taylor when he has to stand in his locker room.
00:11:07
Speaker 1: I refuse.
00:11:09
Speaker 2: Because that's one guy I'm like, what do you say? He's just like, you know, I just stay ready, want to play. What did you think about not getting– now you're activated, but you didn't play a single snap. Just staying ready, trusting God. You know, just give like four-word responses. Trust in God, and they're ready to play. That's it. That's all you can say if you're Elante Taylor.
00:11:32
Speaker 1: They signed him to play outside, and now they're moving him inside to play nickel in the middle of the season. David Pollock is about to join us. Can't wait to catch back up with him. A lot of college football discussion straight ahead here on Hutton-Withrow. It's Hutton-Withrow presented by Hard Rock Bet. Chad, we've got David Pollock coming up. He goes by David, not Davey. That's right.
00:11:51
Speaker 2: Like a smart man.
00:12:13
Speaker 1: It ships fresh roasted. It's not sitting on a warehouse shelf for six months. Light, medium, dark, decaf, organic, even a mushroom blend, whole bean ground, cake cups, peak flavor, however you make it in the morning.

00:12:52
Speaker 1: David Pollack joins us here on Hutton & Withrow. Thank you for joining us, man. Hope things are well. Did you ever go by Davey?
00:13:00
Speaker 3: Yes, I did, actually. That's why I really laughed out loud when you said that, because I grew up with David Green, who played quarterback at Georgia, too. And Well, it made sense because David was an adult at like 12. And so there was two Davids and we both came running all the time and it was annoying. So literally they were like, all right, who's not the adult? And it was me and Davey. And to this day, people still call me Davey. So yeah, I have, but I haven't had Davey Crockett's coffee, but I'm always looking for some good coffee.
00:13:28
Speaker 2: You know what era you're from Hutton, by the way, with like, there were multiple Davids. So one had to be Davey when, when David was growing up, I'm now coaching my seven-year-old daughter's basketball team. And we started last night and every team has like two Ellie's or three Emmys, or there's always something with an E at the end. And I'm like, okay, how are we going to, you're going to be LEC. You're going to be this. Like we have to do the last initial to make sure we differentiate between the two. But back in the day, it was just, Hey, it's David or David or Davey.
00:13:58
Speaker 3: Yeah, you just changed the name. By the way, I coached my daughter from when she was seven years old all the way up now. She's a junior in high school. I coach at the high school with her. But girls' basketball is one of the most fun things to coach. I mean, they actually listen. They actually use fundamentals. But it's awesome. It's fantastic. So you're going to enjoy that.
00:14:16
Speaker 2: That's great.
00:14:17
Speaker 1: David, tell us about the conversation with an SEC coach who thinks Arch is transferring after this season.
00:14:23
Speaker 2: Yeah.
00:14:23
Speaker 1: Could he end up in Athens? You said everything on the internet on fire with this. Why do you think a mutual parting of ways makes sense, I guess, at this stage? And how realistic is Athens as a landing spot?
00:14:35
Speaker 3: Well, here's the thing, you know, and I'm absolutely not a newsbreaker. It kind of just came out in the show that I was doing and I was just talking because it's literally what I heard from a guy from face to face from his mouth. And I think if you, first of all, let's talk about Arch.
00:14:49
Speaker 2: Yeah.
00:14:50
Speaker 3: Look at Gunnar Stockton and look at where he is right now. We can all see he has been developed. Like that dude is, now listen, how he finishes the season, the last time he was out obviously was a bad day. But he's been developed and he has grown so much as a passer, understanding his answers. Arch is not. We can talk about all the different ways. Arch was higher recruited. Arch has a big arm. Gunner probably has a bigger one, but Arch has the height. He has the field, the savvy. He has a lot of these things that Gunner didn't have to start with. If I'm Arch, if I'm his family, I've seen that, and that's part of it. I also think that the way it's gone, obviously it's gotten a little bit, now it's like with the coach and what's going to happen. And I don't know, if they lose two more games, are they going to be, is that coach going to be there? I'm not firing the coach. I'm just saying, I know Texas spent a lot of money on a roster and they expect results. And where they've been, thank goodness they didn't lose the last one or else who knows where we'd be right now with this conversation. But the coach said Georgia to me and I was like, why?
00:15:55
Speaker 2: Why?
00:15:55
Speaker 3: Why do you say that? He's like, I just got a feeling it would be Georgia. And listen, I know he committed to Georgia coming out of high school, so I know that was part of it. Georgia was very much in the mix to get Arch. So I think that's probably why there was a connection. But he said it with his chest, and he said it firmly.
00:16:11
Speaker 1: Go ahead, Chad.
00:16:13
Speaker 2: Well, I was just going to jump in there, Hutton. That makes sense for Arch. Does that make sense for Georgia? I mean, given the quarterback market and where it is, and you've seen a guy who hasn't really been developed at Texas, and we know he's got the raw ability and all of that, David, but I also look at that and think, you know, there's two sides of this coin, right? Everybody's going to get mad when you talk about Kamario Taylor should go take $ 6 million. Pete Prisco said that. And they said, hey, maybe the kid likes Mississippi State. Maybe he likes playing for where he's from and maybe $ 2.
00:16:43
Speaker 3: 5 million.
00:16:45
Speaker 2: Is enough because he's eventually going to be a first-round pick anyways. So stop trying to plug and play somewhere else just for more money. The other side of that is there are quarterbacks who just need a fresh start. And this could be a good situation for both Texas and Arch to go get a fresh start on both sides. My question to you would be, if you're Georgia, does that make the most sense for you to bring in an Arch Manning in this hypothetical situation?
00:17:11
Speaker 3: Well, first of all, if I'm a college nowadays, regardless, This is the route I'm going. And I say that because there's so much guesswork with the quarterback spot. And there's so much that, oh, they could be this, they could be that. Okay, well, if I've already seen it, what the heck am I guessing about? Like, I can go get the guy I want that I know can process. Darian Mensah, like, that was my Heisman Trophy pick immediately because I'm like, you put him with Dawson, you put him with Malachi Toney, with Fletcher, like, I've already seen this kid at Duke and Tulane tear people up, go through progressions, make tough reads. I know what he is. So I think if I'm in the market and I'm going to get a guy, I want to get a guy that's been developed. I want to get a guy that's hardened, that's played a bunch of seasons, that's played two seasons, that has... Because here's the thing, as you play, what do you get? You get that experience under your belt. You learn the answers to the questions. Oh, I've seen that before. I know how to address it. I've seen that before. I know how to address it.
00:18:05
Speaker 2: So.
00:18:06
Speaker 3: No, I mean, that's not who I would say if I was Georgia. That's not who I would go after. Listen, I've been on record for months and months and months about Drew Mestemaker. Like, that dude probably could name his number in the portal by anybody. And he had a lot of options last year to do the same. But I think I'm looking for a guy that understands how to go through progressions from one to two to three. I don't care about talent if I'm going to the portal and I'm renting him for a year. I don't care about development. I'm not developing him. I'm paying him to go win now. He's already been developed. I'm past that point.
00:18:40
Speaker 1: Do you see the lack of development at other positions like we do quarterback going into the league now? Is it the same type of regression or is the quarterback just more glaring because of the position?
00:18:51
Speaker 3: No, it's the same type. And let's ask ourselves why. Okay, I'm coaching and I bring in this linebacker. and this linebacker can't do X, Y, and Z. Well, most of the time, guess what I do? I don't put him on the field. I take time. I develop him in practice. It's going to take a little time before I put him on the field. Well, now it's like, wait a minute. I'm paying him X. Well, here's what he does really, really well. Okay, let's hide what he doesn't do well, and let's accelerate what he does do well. Well, guess what? From that point, it's hard to develop. If I'm not giving you reps, it's hard to do. You talk about basketball. Basketball is the most affected by far. Okay, he can't shoot. I can take his shot. I can break his shot down, and I can work on this for a year, a year and a half. No, no, no, no, no. He can get to the rack. Okay, I'm going to do everything I can to make sure he gets to the rack. So I'm paying these players to come in and provide a service. So the depth piece is not the most important piece anymore. It's like, how do I get reps? on my investment quicker? And so because of that, you absolutely see where development gets strangled a little bit.
00:19:57
Speaker 2: Well, in the quarterback situation you're talking about in college football currently, where everyone is trying to replicate that, where you're going to go get the 23-year-old dude and not the 18 or 19-year-old dude. This is where I think Tennessee's actually doing exceptionally well, given that they went into a season with a 19-year-old and 18-year-old as their possible quarterback options. That's not the way of college football. I knew going into the season this could be a problem for Josh Heupel, that he didn't get Sam Levitt, let's say, who they had visiting, that they wanted to bring in. He didn't get that veteran quarterback. What do you think about Tennessee doing what they're doing with a really good defense with Jim Knowles, but doing it with a freshman quarterback where, David, as you mentioned, there's just limitations to the offense given someone who doesn't have that experience?
00:20:44
Speaker 3: Yeah, I got asked on a radio interview the other day, and somebody asked me about with Tennessee, and like, is Tennessee's coach safe? I'm like, what are you watching? Like, have you seen this, dude? Like, have you seen what they are and what they are now? Like, 10-win seasons, and this is what Tennessee– like, I know everybody wants to go to the next level, but this is what you expect. But here's the crazy thing about this season. This is obviously– a couple years ago. This is the Niko team, right? Like, where defense reigns supreme. You know, the run game was enough. Niko just had to do enough to make enough plays. But that doesn't happen very often under Heupel because he's such a great offensive coach. And what does he give his guys this year? What does he give him both those guys? A great run game, like always. Like, I think he's been top four in the SEC in rushing every season. Like, that's what they do and who they are. And because the system is so good, it allows your QB to thrive. Now, listen... I think you've made the right decision. I think McIntyre should be the guy because your passing game goes from, you know, a minus to a plus at times or not, at least not a minus.
00:21:52
Speaker 1: Right.
00:21:53
Speaker 3: And so I think they're finding and developing that along the way, but the defensive line, good Lord. I mean, Xavier Gillum is the best defensive tackle in the country. Like the best, I mean, that dude is all over the field and you watch the return on the investment on that side. You're like, okay, they made a really, really good decision, but I think Tennessee's doing exactly what you can do. You try to develop them, but you know at some point what you'll get from that position. You always get good quarterback play. So when you have youth, you take some lumps sometimes, but you know as well as I do, you take those lumps, you get through them. A lot of times now they've been hardened a little bit, just like Gunnar Stockton. Gunnar Stockton took a bunch of lumps. This year's a much better player, and that's what you're going to expect if I'm a Tennessee fan.
00:22:35
Speaker 2: How hard is it to wrap your head around someone who played in an era, Georgia, where you had great teams with guys who grew up together and developed together, and it's like, all right, boy, we're this this year, but fans can say, wait until next year or wait until the year after that or let's look two years ahead. and see what this can be. That's sort of the Tennessee predicament right now is you're looking at DGG coming in next year and, oh, they've got two five-star quarterbacks that are young, but you don't know who's going to come back. But wrapping your head around, it's a season-to-season, week-to-week league, and you can't really bank on much of what's going to happen next year because you don't know what's going to happen with the roster year-to-year.
00:23:13
Speaker 3: I don't know what you can bank on week to week nowadays either, man. There's so much parody in this sport. It's ridiculous. I mean, guys, I can't tell you the last time that we've been like nine weeks into a season. I've been doing this for a long time now. And somebody asked me the question, who's the best team in the country? And I'm like, I don't know. Like I can give you four or five or six or seven. I mean, it's funny. I was going through the playoff bracket the other day and I'm like, I'm trying to put 12 in. And how do I look at these tiers? And I'm like, all right, well, I got, One from the ACC. Let's go two from the Big 12, even though we still got three other contenders. Let's go Big 10. Three teams that are probably going to be in. Three contenders right now with Wisconsin, Iowa, Northwestern. Those are the contenders in the Big 10. I mean, because everyone else, Oregon, Michigan, USC, those guys are out of the mix to me. UCLA is in, which is crazy. But then you get to the SEC and you're like, okay, Texas is 10th in the SEC standings. They're 11th in the country, guys.
00:24:15
Speaker 2: 11th.
00:24:16
Speaker 3: Like, what are we doing? So it's just crazy. Like, looking ahead, I don't know that we want to look ahead. Like, I just think you try to get as many players to come on board, obviously, that are difference makers in the future. But you absolutely have to be in the business of development. And you have to be in the business of finding those guys and being able to coach them. I think it puts an emphasis on coaches more than ever. Like, literally, your coaching matters more than ever. The game has now been shrunk, too. Remember, with the clock that changed a couple years ago, there's two less possessions a game because that thing is now running. And so you're making tougher decisions. You see analytics and fourth downs, and it's a harder world to coach in. But there's not much you can count on and say, hey, I'm going to build for the future because now fans have also changed their expectations because there's a guy up in Bloomington, Indiana that's like, why do you need a full recruiting class? Like, we just did this in two years.
00:25:09
Speaker 1: David Pollock with us on Hunt to Withrow. So is it easier to judge teams based on your, if you determine whether or not they have an identity? Like you say LSU's found their identity up front in the trenches. A lot of other teams haven't. So like what's separating a team like LSU from others in the conference right now?
00:25:29
Speaker 3: Man, LSU is, they're just the team that I watch now and I'm like, I would not want to play them because offensively they understand who they are with their short rhythm passing game. They understand how to run the football now. Leavitt understands how.
00:25:42
Speaker 1: To run the football.
00:25:43
Speaker 3: Now, listen, I could argue they could be better in the red zone, but they understand who their number one wide receiver is. It's Harris. He's balling. If you watch four, like he's making plays all over the field. Oh, I get trade as greenback last week. That's fun. That's a fun toy now that I can also use. But I know who my one is. They didn't know who their one was. I know what kind of passes Sam Levitt does well. And then the injury for Sam Levitt to me was a blessing in disguise because it made him calm down and play within the pocket because he's not 100 percent. So they don't want him running. all over the place. And listen, when you watch the kid throw the football, he can throw it. I mean, he can make difficult throws look extremely easy. So, and then, you know, Tennessee, okay, Tennessee, for example, Byron Brown, 100 yards rushing. Georgia, almost 90 yards rushing. Byron Brown versus LSU this past week, negative yards rushing. The undesigned runs, over 100 versus Tennessee, almost 100 versus Georgia, negative versus LSU. Speed, Whit Weeks probably will come back. So you'll have both number sevens back for them on that squad. But LSU just looks to me like a team. And listen, they got some challenges too. And they've dug themselves a hole by losing two games already. But they got Bama off of a bye. They got Texas. Like they've got some games down the stretch. They got Tennessee. They got some chances to prove themselves that they're a playoff team.
00:27:04
Speaker 2: So Georgia, Florida, cocktail party this weekend. A series you know a lot about. What concerns you the most about a Buster Faulkner offense that you've seen and what he does that's different than what a lot of offensive coordinators will do in this league?
00:27:18
Speaker 3: He plays the hat game, man. It's like, you know, you put the ball underneath the helmet on the scoreboard and you just kind of go like this, you go like this, you go like this. Where is it? You know, like a lot of shifts, motions, a lot of things to look at. So here's what Buster Faulkner did. His background is a lot of air raid. Like, so it's a different background than a lot of people would think. It's pitchy, pitchy, woo-woo, throw it all over the yard, right? Like, And then he goes to George, and he's like, okay, I see how they communicate. I see what gives them problems when people start to pre-snap motion or pre-snap shift, then motion, make all these guys communicate and say something two, three times. And then, oh, the QB run game. That's a real pain in your ass, right? So now I can shift, motion, pull it, triple option type football, which Tramell Jones, I think, also is the guy. I know on the depth chart it says Philo slash– Jones, I saw enough in the Texas game out of Jones. I mean, they get down early 17-7, and they storm back. But when you watch the tape, guys, the number one, most offenses go to die on third and long. Like third and long, they go to die. They were two for ten, I think, Florida on third downs in the first half. Second half, it was exact opposite. It was like eight for ten. Why? If you looked at the average third down to go, it was third down and four point something. In the first half, it was like third down and eight something. You've got to stay out of those positions. That's your coordinator. Your coordinator tries to make sure that we don't get ourselves in bad situations. So running the football, now running the football with Jones a little bit more than Philo, I think Faulkner understands that as well as anybody in the country.
00:28:57
Speaker 1: Georgia, have they established those alpha ballers that you said that maybe they had an issue with back in the preseason?
00:29:04
Speaker 3: Yeah, I think they're finding out. I think Georgia's found out who they are. I think everybody was like, okay, Cole, Bolden, Wilson, Ellis. Like, okay, there's four or five really good ballplayers on this defense that can change the game, that can make game-changing plays. And then I think offensively, you know, again, you talk about injuries being a blessing in the sky sometimes because you find something. Like if you're not watching Phillips Jr. at their running back spot, like that is different. And I'm interested to see how they use him the rest of the season. The run game, they have to have a run game. That is who they're built on and what they are. Frazier being healthy. Bowens is still out. Their other running back, number two running back to start the season. Had some injuries, just like everybody else, but I think finding who they are. I don't expect Gunnar Stockton to be that guy that he was in Auburn. I think that's more of an anomaly, but taylor out at wide receiver has has been uh he's been proving himself williams at tight end you've known about lucky um they've got a practice they've got a bunch of guys now i think they can depend on and just like when they played alabama and beat him like gunner completed to 11 different receivers i think it's going to be a different guy most of the time for for georgia's offense but but they got enough dudes to.
00:30:19
Speaker 2: Hurt you last one for you david Does the 2014 playoff destroy the fabric of college football, like many have argued, moving from 12 to 24?
00:30:30
Speaker 3: First of all, I'm going to answer this differently probably than anybody you've had on and talk about this because I don't meet very many people that like this. I mean, I just don't. I don't. Like, literally, I did a couple touchdown clubs in a row. I did, like, three in 24 hours, and nobody raised their hand. Like, everybody hates this. So I'm going to say this. I want to propose something to actually make this better. Fine. We're going to do this because of money. I get it. I don't want to do it either. I like the exclusivity. I love the importance of the regular season. If we're going to do this, let's bring back elite rivalries like we we now have a chance to change our schedule and bring back. elite rivalries. You know what else? I'm doing away with a non-conference. If you're going to do this to me, we're doing away with a non-conference. And you know what we're going to do? Every SEC team is going to play a Big 12 team, a Big 10 team, an ACC team. That's their out-of-conference schedule. They're playing huge rivals. These games need to be Ohio State and Texas. They need to freaking matter. Fine. Give me better reasons to cheer. Give me more weeks that you're looking at the schedule and you're like, oh my gosh, this is amazing. If we can do that, there's no reason why we shouldn't, by the way, because losses aren't going to matter as much. But man, as a fan, we would win because we would get... bigger, better rivalries consistently and now bigger, better matchups. And every fan gets to go. If you're a Tennessee fan, man, you're going to Oregon for a game. Like how awesome is that? That you get to go see different stadiums, different environments, different conferences, more data points collected amongst each other. So we're not going, oh, I think this conference is better. No, this conference just beat the crap out of that conference, right? Like I know they're better.
00:32:12
Speaker 1: You just gave a nightmare to all of the SEC coaches right there.
00:32:17
Speaker 3: It might not be as much fun, but, like, listen, I want to see great games. It doesn't matter.
00:32:22
Speaker 1: It would be a blast. David, good to see you, man. Let everyone know where they can find you.
00:32:28
Speaker 3: See ball, get ball. You can see it over my head. With my podcast, not creative, not smart, so that's the best name, defensive player. You see the ball, you go get it. We do it a little bit different, man, but we have coaches. We do Saturday night recaps after the game, and then we talk. a lot of the matchups and all that good stuff. So if you want to hear some college football talk, see ball, get ball, baby.
00:32:48
Speaker 1: Absolutely. Hey, good to see you, man. We appreciate it.
00:32:50
Speaker 3: See you guys. Thank y'all.
00:32:51
Speaker 2: Thanks, David.
00:32:51
Speaker 1: David Pollak, one of the best dudes right there.
00:32:54
Speaker 2: Really good job on the recaps, too, on Saturday night, going through different games across the SEC. A lot of fun with his podcast. Doing great work.
00:33:02
Speaker 1: Absolutely. Hey, Chad, coming up, you've got a doppelganger we'll discuss. And we also have our lock of the week that's also coming up over the next 20 minutes or so here on Hunt & Withrow, presented by Hard Rock Bet. Hey, let me tell you about XXXY Athletics. That's where you can get the official Nashville Balls gear, founded by Jennifer Say, XXXY. She's a former national champion gymnast, former Levi's brand president. She walked away from a corporate job rather than to say something that she didn't believe, and she started XXXY Athletics instead. The mission, in their words, empower female athletes and take a stand for fair competition. They call it the T that launched a movement. This is real athletic apparel, and you get the official balls gear right here at the XXXY site, Jeff.
00:33:46
Speaker 2: That's right. David Pollack laughed when he saw the logo. He enjoyed it. He enjoyed it when he came on with us. They're making the official Nashville Balls gear. Tees, trucker hats, XXXY is where you can go get that. New customers get 20% off your first order when you sign up. And free shipping over $ 100, XXXYathletics.com. That's XX-XYathletics.com.
00:34:08
Speaker 1: So what's it feel like to see your doppelganger? Because I've felt this before at the Super Bowl with Trevor Simeon.
00:34:15
Speaker 2: That was an odd experience when we saw Trevor Simeon. I think his arm was in a sling. When he saw me, too, he was like, what? Yeah, you both just kind of stare at each other like, I'm looking in the mirror here. You've been accused many times of looking like Clay Travis.
00:34:30
Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
00:34:31
Speaker 2: Clay's got some more white in the hair and the beard, I think, than you do now. So a little bit of a difference with that. Hutton, on Friday night, I'm calling a high school football game, and I get a text from my buddy Vester. Vester McFarland, a guy I grew up with, great dude, played the youth sports with my whole life, played basketball with. And he just texted me and said, I'm watching the World Series. And he said, I'm watching the Miz, and all I keep thinking about is your little face back in junior high. And he looks like a junior high you. So I couldn't find a junior high photo of myself, but here's me in high school, in my high school basketball sweatshirt, you know, many pounds ago.
00:35:15
Speaker 1: Drainy threes.
00:35:16
Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, not as much age. This was before life. Came in the way of young Chad. My whole life in front of me, this Chad with right here thought he was going to be an orthopedic surgeon. Thought he was going to go to school and be pre-med. Dr. Withrow, draining threes, averaging a hefty sum of points per game. By hefty, 11 or 12 is hefty. That was me in high school. So I was like, okay, I don't see it. And during the game at halftime, I actually looked up a picture of the Miz. And I'm like, I kind of see it, but not as much. And then I saw... this profile shot of the Miz last night. And I'm like, yep, that's me.
00:35:58
Speaker 3: That's it.
00:35:59
Speaker 2: The Miz is way younger than I am, but that is a young Chad Withrow. There is no doubt about it. Same eye size, nose size. He's got tiny ears. And I've told you how my high school basketball trainer, Sherry, would sit next to me on the bench and just marvel at how small my ears were. And she was like, you've got some tiny little ears. I fouled out of one game, and I sat next to Sherry, and she's just staring and says, those are the smallest ears I've seen. The Miz has some small ears. So, yeah, I'm watching this, and I'm like, boy, my doppelganger is throwing 102 and mowing down the Rays in a decisive World Series game. So that right there is pretty cool. But Hutton, the one that made my jaw drop the first time I saw it, 2003, I'm working an internship in Atlanta. I'm living with my cousin, David Knight, and his brother, Nathan Knight. And we got really into Band of Brothers. Came out in 2001. The Tom Hanks produced, Steven Spielberg produced series about the 101st Airborne in Europe and their adventures across Europe in World War II. So we're watching this, and there's one episode, and I think the name of the episode is The Replacements. And it's about all the replacement troops that have to come in and the young guys that who are out fighting for people who have deceased or have been shipped off somewhere else. And there is one moment in this episode where one of the actors playing one of the soldiers, and I need to go back and do a deep dive and find out the name of the actor. I don't think this guy has done anything before or since that's of note. But this shot of this guy, this looks like AI put my face at 22.
00:37:35
Speaker 1: 23 years old on the face of this actor. I see both like doppelgangers, both, both people. Yeah. But yeah, that, that's, that would, that would spot on too.
00:37:49
Speaker 2: That's the shot of him looking back. And that one was crazy, but this guy is my true doppelganger, but yeah, the Miz, Jacob Mizorowski might be another doppelganger of mine. Thank you to Buster for pointing that out for the first time. And now my entire family's on a group text, cousins and aunts and uncles and everyone. And they're all talking about how much the Miz is, Looks just like me.
00:38:11
Speaker 1: See, I think if we went back to, I don't know, it could be 2011, 2012, or maybe up towards 2017 or so. I think that version, that Withrow looks like the Mids. More so than the high school Withrow. I'm just recalling some pictures that we've been in through.
00:38:29
Speaker 2: Oh, yeah. To me, that's the one. We've got the side-by-side of all three. I think also, but yeah, I think, but that one's pretty spot on with the profile look too.
00:38:40
Speaker 1: Oh yeah, absolutely.
00:38:41
Speaker 2: Like it's pretty close. Something else I noticed about the Miz last night too, long torso, shorter legs, much like me. Like I never could throw a baseball over a hundred miles per hour, but he's got like the lower half. That's a little bit more compact and powerful, but a super long torso that makes him very tall, similar to me in certain ways. Look, I can't fight it. Yeah, I look like The Miz. I only wish I had the arm strength of The Miz.
00:39:13
Speaker 1: They say everyone has their doppelganger somewhere on Earth. JT, JT, have you ever seen your doppelganger by chance?
00:39:21
Speaker 2: Mine actually came at one point from a guy on Nashville, the TV show. I'll send you guys a picture, see if we can get it for you.
00:39:30
Speaker 1: The end of the show.
00:39:31
Speaker 2: I had more hair and a beard that was bigger, but yeah, I'll find that for you, see if we can get that before the end of the show. I'll tell you right now, and if we can find a photo, great, but JT is a white version of Daryl from The Office. Oh, Craig Robinson. I have said this throughout. Now, Craig Robinson has hair. JT no longer has hair. JT had his hood up earlier, too. I didn't know if he was trying to be Eminem from 8 Mile or if he was really chilly in his place. But Daryl's entire demeanor, it's more his speech pattern, how sarcastic he is. You can't even tell if he's joking or not half the time. I'm telling you right now, strike me down if I'm wrong. JT is white Daryl from The Office.
00:40:16
Speaker 1: I agree.
00:40:16
Speaker 2: I have thought that since working with JT from years ago, and I've told him that. He is white Craig Robinson. I can hear it for sure, as you mentioned that, from the office. I just searched it. I'm looking at him sitting in the confessional where they're talking to the camera, and he's like half trying not to laugh as he talks, and he's just monotone in everything that he says, no voice inflection, cracking jokes without letting on that he's cracking a joke. I'm telling you, man. JT, Daryl from The Office. There it is.
00:40:45
Speaker 1: There he is. That's it.
00:40:46
Speaker 2: Look at that. I'm looking at JT right now. This is JT. Look at that. Take that hair off of him and we've got JT. Getting a little bit more white in the beard also at this point.
00:40:56
Speaker 1: Greg from The Office. That's it.
00:40:58
Speaker 2: Also a great cameo spot in Eastbound and Down for Greg Robinson.
00:41:03
Speaker 1: Oh, yes. Oh, absolutely.
00:41:05
Speaker 2: I got some clips that I had forgotten about where he's showing up at the strip club and That he was at outside in the car and Kenny Powers was trying to talk to him in the car. And he's just crushing Kenny Powers. Gosh, what a show.
00:41:19
Speaker 1: Oh, while he's sitting in the car?
00:41:20
Speaker 2: Mm-hmm.
00:41:21
Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah.
00:41:22
Speaker 2: He's like rolling the window down and rolling it back up.
00:41:24
Speaker 1: Yeah.
00:41:24
Speaker 2: The whole time.
00:41:25
Speaker 1: But they won't leave. The driver won't leave. Yep. Coming up, we have our Hard Rock Lock of the Week. I think Chad will believe I'm going out on a limb here, but I'm 100% behind this pick. 00:42:49
Speaker 2: And you can follow me on Friday nights where I've done very, very well.
00:42:53
Speaker 1: Chad, my Hard Rock Lock of the Week. Give me Oregon minus two and a half. Against 6-1 Northwestern. Northwestern, they haven't beaten a team with a winning record all year. Their FBS wins are against a combined record of 12-25. They've lost three straight West Coast trips by double digits. They gave up like 245 yards rushing last week. So I think that Oregon's going to give them a heavy dose of Davison and Hill. and I believe Oregon runs the ball well on Saturday. Northwestern has to throw the football to make up some ground, and I think the Ducks secondary, they're tops in the conference with 10 interceptions. Give me the Ducks to win by at least a field goal here. Hutton, the initial line I saw, Oregon was an underdog in this one also, and I think it shifted. So at one point, I think, yeah, Northwestern may have been A slight favorite. And getting it at 2.5 good, because right now I know at Hard Rocket he's crept up to Oregon minus 3.5. Okay, great.
00:43:59
Speaker 2: I like it. I like it for Oregon minus 2.5. To be honest, I don't have a lot of confidence in my Friday night picks this week.
00:44:08
Speaker 1: Oh, really?
00:44:08
Speaker 2: I'm very confident moving forward, but I have waffled more than I've waffled all season on Friday night. Every other week I have seen it. I said Tulane is going to beat. Memphis at home, or this is going to happen, or even last week I felt really good about Virginia, even though that one ended up not happening. I have gone back and forth on UCF against Baylor. UCF coming off that huge win over BYU this past week at home, double overtime, they get it done. Baylor has just fired their coach, and just like that UCF, BYU line was very small, and we said, what does Vegas know? What is happening here? Tennessee, South Carolina, Tennessee, two and a half. And then suddenly it flipped. South Carolina, two and a half point favorite. Why is UCF such a small favorite over a team that just fired their coach? DJ Lagway has gotten two coaches fired now. Billy Napier at Florida and Dave Aranda at Baylor. What is Vegas seeing here that I'm not? I'm going to go with my gut on this one. I don't think UCF has a big letdown after their big win over BYU. They're at home at the bounce house on a Friday night. Hudden, everybody knows you don't walk into the bounce house on a Friday night and walk away with a win easily. Give me the nights of UCF minus one and a half at home against Baylor.
00:45:25
Speaker 1: We're doing it right now. Let's play it up.
00:45:29
Speaker 2: Play it up. But again, I cannot say that I'm fully confident in either one of these picks.
00:45:35
Speaker 1: I'm confident in your picks just based on your records. Just based on your record, there it is. Chad Withrow, 15-2 this season on Friday night college football bets. 88% win rate.
00:45:46
Speaker 2: May I not be 15-4 on this graphic when we come back on Monday. That is my solemn prayer and hope for this weekend, that I can come back and at least be 16-3, hopefully 17-2 after these two Friday night bets.
00:46:00
Speaker 1: Yeah, so our bundle from yesterday, going for the bundle, Charlotte, Purdue, and Ole Miss. Charlotte getting 11.5. Ole Miss, I'm laying 12 against Auburn. And JT grabs 8.5 points for Purdue against Penn State. This is our bundle pick. You bet these individually. I parlayed them yesterday. Let's go. Let's go, gents. Let's win with hard rock.
00:46:28
Speaker 2: I don't feel that great about either one of my picks this week. Look, I'm the first to say I hope I'm wrong. I hope they both win, but I am not rolling into Friday night with a lot of confidence like I have been. Oh. Which is crazy to say for someone who's 15-2 on Friday night.
00:46:43
Speaker 3: I know.
00:46:43
Speaker 2: I do not have much confidence in these games. So, look, this could, I mean, prove me wrong here.
00:46:49
Speaker 1: Let's go.
00:46:50
Speaker 2: Let's go Charlotte. We need Charlotte and UCF to prove me wrong, but I am very doubtful right now about both those. Even now I'm going back in my mind and feeling like, should have taken Tulane in that game. Should have taken Baylor. They're going to get that jump start with the new interim coach situation, but I'm sticking with UCF. I'm sticking with Charlotte.
00:47:11
Speaker 1: See, I don't buy into all the interim coach stuff all the time. Not whenever you're going on the road and stuff like that. I think if they were hosting, maybe you get a little bump. I don't see that here.
00:47:21
Speaker 2: I think the bump is temporary is the thing. I'm only worried about the bump in this game for Baylor because it's usually like one game and then everybody's celebrating. Oh, our players played so free out there tonight. We were united this week and this and that. But it goes away quickly. Like the games after that, it goes downhill when you've got a lame duck interim situation. But I do fear that one game bump for Baylor firing Dave Aranda this week going into this game.
00:47:48
Speaker 1: Jed, the Milwaukee Brewers. 13 postseason games played, 11 wins, and they trailed in nine of them. That's insane. That's a buzzsaw. The Dodgers and the Rays had one win combined against them. That is nuts, man. Does this help or hurt the argument that the small market teams can't compete with the big boys? Because what we just saw was.
00:48:17
Speaker 2: Oh, it hurts him. I know.
00:48:18
Speaker 1: That's what I'm saying.
00:48:19
Speaker 2: Yeah, there's no doubt.
00:48:20
Speaker 1: They're trying to make the case for– like teams like Milwaukee trying to make the case for a salary cap. It's hard to do that when you're with World Series for the first time.
00:48:28
Speaker 2: Well, here's what the problem with it is. And, look, if the Dodgers would have won, it would have been easy. Hey, look, here's the problem. They're the problem.
00:48:36
Speaker 1: They've won three in a row.
00:48:37
Speaker 3: Right.
00:48:37
Speaker 2: And nobody can catch them. But the Brewers– You know you're going for a lockout.
00:48:40
Speaker 3: Yep.
00:48:41
Speaker 2: The Brewers got in the way and swept the Dodgers in that series. Yep. The issue, though, is, and I saw Pat Murphy, who I love, the manager for the Brewers, and I forget the player. I think it's his first baseman for the Brewers. But he was hugging someone and talking to them, and it's caught on camera postgame. And he says, you are about to be effing rich because he's about to be a free agent. And he said, and I'll be watching you when you're on that horse shit Yankees team next year, he said. He says that to him, and it's caught on camera as he's hugging him. That's the problem. Right, like he knows they have no chance to re-sign that guy in Milwaukee. And now the joke is some team that's got all the money. but isn't really a team is going to go bring him on and now he's going to be on that as he said that that horse shit Yankees team next year from Pat Murphy which is hilarious.
00:49:30
Speaker 1: I mean that's exactly what will happen Lutz has the doppelganger for me with Trevor Simeon remember this.
00:49:37
Speaker 3: At the.
00:49:40
Speaker 2: Oh, that's so good. This is pre-beard Hutton.
00:49:43
Speaker 1: Yeah, pre-beard. I don't know what kind of shirt I'm wearing there either. But, yeah, there's Trevor Simeon. We saw each other. We're like, what is going on with– who is that?
00:49:54
Speaker 2: Incredible. Spot on. I mean, we saw him across the room. It's just like yours. This is the guy. By the way, it was Jake Bowers was the player Pat Murphy was talking to on camera. And he did say, yeah, you're going to be playing for that. We're all going to be playing for yourselves on that horseshit Yankees team you're about to join, but you're going to be rich, so congratulations, is what he told him post-game after winning the World Series.
00:50:19
Speaker 1: Coming up next is the next round. Check them out right now on Sport and State.
