MORBIUS MOVIE REVIEW
Sony’s grip on Marvel characters extends largely to Spider-Man adjacent villains and anti-heroes and they continue down this ‘MCU is not directly involved’ film path with Morbius. Jared Leto plays Michael Morbius, a brilliant scientist who is dying from a rare blood disease who is determined to crack it, to help both him and his childhood friend suffering from the same problem, Milo (Matt Smith). Through gene combination he comes up with a serum based on vampire bats but that essentially turns him into a super-vampire, with crap-loads of mega-powers, but also a tendency to turn into a raging and indiscriminate blood sucker when he’s not fed blood often enough. It’s bad enough he’s got to race against time and his own needs to come up with some sort of cure for his cure, but now there’s another one like him in the city with considerably less taboos about killing at will. AND he’s got an investigator tracking him (Tyrese Gibson) although, only sort of. It felt like maybe there was more of that in an earlier cut that we saw a lot of the scenes of in the trailers. In fact, there’s a LOT missing from this movie including fun. Listen to Chris, Mars, Sarah, and Mike take a bite out of it.

Christopher Lawrence Cox (Founder, Da Boss)
Born in the wilds of northern Virginia, Chris managed to put all of his survival skills to use and barely escaped with his life to Austin Texas in 1992 where ever since he’s dabbled in everything from plumber’s assistant to sandwich maker, from band to bar management. An opportunity to see theatrical release films for free by becoming a critic on a local public access show called “The Reel Deal” turned into a full-time job when Chris and his friends decided to take it to the internet. They built the site Spill.com, adding multiple podcasts and animated features, to no small amount of success. During this time, a fortuitous friendship sprung up between Chris and young Brian Salisbury, who was also a local film critic, and they merged their forces of will, and their laundry list of ideas for shows, to eventually build this community of critics. While Brian eventually followed his heart to a new family, Chris continues on with a cast of colorful folks from all over the country (and a few others). You can also check out Chris in his videocast, along with Martin Thomas and Danni Danger, that One Of Us does with our friends at Bell of Lost Souls: Crossover Event. He also regularly guests on the video game website Rage Select. Follow Chris on Twitter and Facebook and check out his Amazon Wish List.
Mars Garrett (Highly Suspect Reviews, Screener Squad)
Mars enjoys bad movies, motorsportsball, and the internet. She’s been the resident pop-culture and toy/collectibles editor at BoLS for the better part of a decade. An ardent action and horror fan, she takes pride in the number of movies she’s seen with a 10% or lower RT rating. Just don’t ask her to watch a rom-com.

BELOW SERIES REVIEW On an island in Canada called Newfoundland, winters are hard, but the people are harder. With rod and sail, they mastered the elements and found wealth in the Cod. Back in the 80’s, the Penney family was relocating their home from harbour to harbour, when the sea took their hous…
CLAYFACE MOVIE REVIEW The comic books to movie train keeps chuggin’ along and the results have been of late, hugely varied. But if you fall on the ‘not into those’ camp, you might reconsider your stance for Clayface. Telling the origin story of the DC comics supervillain, writer Mike Flanagan (The …
CARRIE SEASON 1 REVIEW Legend tells that Tabitha, an editor of a spooky scary author, fished a manuscript out of the troubled scribe’s trash can. Reading what had escaped the author’s mind onto crumpled pages, she demanded the story be completed. Thus the novel Carrie was born. Fifty years later an…
SACRIFICE MOVIE REVIEW A year after its premiere at TIFF, and a brief theatrical release in Italy, co-writer/director Romain Gavras’ film Sacrifice has found a home on Netflix. It tells the story of Mike Tyler (Chris Evans) a washed up movie star who had a nervous breakdown and (literally) torched …
WUTHERING HEIGHTS: THE HOUSE OF THE DAMNED MOVIE REVIEW Upon the windswept Yorkshire moors, where passion turns to obsession and the dead refuse to stay buried, Wuthering Heights: The House of the Damned offers a decidedly bloodier interpretation of Emily Brontë’s Gothic classic. When the unfortuna…
