00:00:01
Speaker 1: The frames per second podcast.
00:00:09
Speaker 2: What's going on it's your boy nick i am here with kenneth bianch hola and spike lu of the on deck tv show and another week in the books how you doing man what up dope and we'll be waiting on jaylen who should be joining us later unlike how he said about me last week i think he will actually show up um But, yeah, you're now tuned in to the Frames for Second podcast. In this episode, we are continuing on with our weekly recaps.
00:00:36
Speaker 3: Ken, is it a hit?
00:00:37
Speaker 4: Because I think it's a hit. It's a hit.
00:00:40
Speaker 1: I was looking forward to last week and the question because I got the answer in week two.
00:00:48
Speaker 4: And, yeah, the numbers, especially on YouTube.
00:00:52
Speaker 2: Yeah.
00:00:53
Speaker 4: And running it up. So it's a hit.
00:00:56
Speaker 2: The hit HBO original series coming from the DC Universe, Lanterns. This recap is being dedicated to episode four titled The Weenie. As y'all know, I wasn't on last week's episode because I was in the middle of moving and stuff like that. So my overall, quick overall thoughts. One, I did finish the notes because I listened to the episode that y'all did. I did finish the notes, but my internet, because it was in and out, it didn't update on the Google Docs. to show all the stuff. So it cut off halfway through, but I did finish the notes. Uh, cause I had some other questions for y'all. Uh, and, and I'll get into that later in this review, as far as one of the particular questions, it's been an ongoing question that I've had about this show, but overall episode three, my thoughts was it was a great episode.
00:01:42
Speaker 3: I was listening to everybody's reaction.
00:01:44
Speaker 2: Uh, Lou, you know, um, Mina comms got a podcast with, I forgot his name, but a black dude. He also does sports, but she does her own TV show reviews and stuff like that. They've been covering lanterns. And I was listening to everybody's response to this episode or episode three because it was really politically kind of debated.
00:02:05
Speaker 3: But I was thinking, Lou, I was glad you mentioned it in the comics, but John.
00:02:08
Speaker 4: Is black as hell.
00:02:10
Speaker 2: He like even in the tv show uh justice league he go back to the hood all the time they don't really say they don't say exactly where he grew up from but it's in the hood you can tell it's in the hood so him that episode being black as it was it was dope i loved um how they talk about basically how it's like to raise black boys in america but in a superhero way um And I think even that small part of Kyle Chandler at the end was just like, bro, he going to get an Emmy for 2027. He getting an Emmy off of this. It got to be. But I think that last episode was great. We finally got the backstory of John. And Ken, I was going to ask you, but I don't know if that's how you raise your kids.
00:02:52
Speaker 3: That's how you raise your kids. But hey, baby, if you want to.
00:02:57
Speaker 2: I think you mentioned it, Lou, if you want greatness at In adulthood, you have to start in childhood, and I think that's what they set them up for, and I like how they did that. So my thoughts on that was great. But this episode, the weenie, I'll start with you, Lou. What was your overall thoughts?
00:03:14
Speaker 5: It wasn't as good as coming off that last episode, but it's still on par with being a hit series. Like we said, I'm still enjoying everything. I'm still putting the pieces together. They're giving us just enough. I think I figured out who the man and hunter person was. The episode was fine.
00:03:33
Speaker 4: What about you, Ken?
00:03:36
Speaker 1: At its conclusion, I was like, this is a really, really good show. It's like every episode builds upon the previous one. Even though this one was a backstory, they still found a way to build on that.
00:03:51
Speaker 4: And the ending was really, really great.
00:03:54
Speaker 1: I have a natural affinity to the one that's before it. But this one was really good as well. So, no, I really enjoyed it. I'm locked into this series. Yeah, Ken, that was my thoughts.
00:04:09
Speaker 2: Like, after this episode, it was kind of like, because, you know, people are, I think people are going to talk about episode three so much more that it will kind of overtake the conversation about the series itself. And I like how we just got back to it with this episode and how it ended was like, I'm like, damn, I really fucked with this show.
00:04:28
Speaker 3: I'm like, I can't wait for next week.
00:04:31
Speaker 2: I can't wait for this upcoming Sunday to watch it because I didn't expect that kind of ending. It did feel like it was kind of getting a little too stale in some parts in this episode, but then it kind of just paid off with the character building that it does. I really like how the show really builds upon its characters. Um, so right now for me, this show doesn't have any flaws as far as from first episode to this, like you can, I wish I could just binge through this series. Cause I'm like, bro, I don't see any flaws right now. Um, but we start off this episode with us going back to 2016 and we pick up where I believe episode two left off, um, with how going back to the intergalactic prison where he talks to Sinestro.
00:05:16
Speaker 3: And this is our first episode.
00:05:18
Speaker 2: Well, not necessarily first official time, but this is like our official time, like having a full conversation with Sinestro, seeing how he thinks and kind of seeing their relationship between him and Hal since he was the one that trained Hal. Ken, what was your thoughts on this conversation, especially how Sinestro was kind of like informing Hal how to handle John when it comes to stopping him from being his replacement?
00:05:42
Speaker 1: I feel like we got a lot of information from very little dialogue. And one, uh, somehow Sinestro is getting information in, in this prison. I don't know how, I don't know where, but he's getting it. They, they made that very, very clear. Uh, even, even, um, Hal was like, how the hell, you know, that shit. And, um, also we've learned of their relationship. Like, why would you go to Sinestro to get Intel? That's a question. And two, he was able to kind of give him some insight and kind of have him confront the reality of what's really going on by making him say the words replacement, which I thought was really, really dope as well. But more importantly, we learned how Hal was manipulated into his situation. So all in all, I think we got some really good information about their relationship. about what's going on presently with Sinestro and about possibly what Hal's going to end up doing to, to, to John. But he has, you know, this natural human thing. Cause you know, Sinestro was, I forgot what he said. He was like, I was just being me. You just, I was always ambitious. He said, you just can see it, you know? And with, with, with, with Hal, is he going to develop a connection with him? And I'll come back to this conversation later on when, uh, in the episode, I think it comes back around, but I think in conclusion, when it was all said and done, I was like, that motherfucker gonna break out of there before it's over and done with.
00:07:24
Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:07:25
Speaker 1: Yeah, and I'm thinking it might be this season. He getting the fuck up out of there, though. I'd be shocked if he didn't get out of there.
00:07:31
Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, that's easy to tell based off, like you said, once you find out, once somebody is getting information that's not supposed to be known, it's kind of like, all right, he got some juice in the joint.
00:07:41
Speaker 4: Like, he gonna get out.
00:07:43
Speaker 2: Um, Ken, what was that first question you asked about this scene, or this part of the episode? You said something like... I was asking, what was that first question you asked about this scene? You said you had two questions. One was the.
00:08:02
Speaker 2: Because I had a response. Because I was thinking, when you were saying that, I feel like Sinestro, in this conversation... He was so prepared and like waited for Hal to come to him for this.
00:08:19
Speaker 3: And I think Hal, oh yeah, you asked why did Hal go to him?
00:08:21
Speaker 2: Because who else would have dirt on the Guardians and be willing to talk about it than Sinestro?
00:08:27
Speaker 4: You know what I mean?
00:08:27
Speaker 2: Like he's the one who was kind of like going against it. He literally tried to do a whole mutiny and he's been there longer. So he knows all that stuff and he'd be more willing to share it as opposed to everybody else who kind of like how John is in the mold of John. They're loyal to the Guardians. They're not going to really try to say anything that's going to put them in a bad spot. So I think that's why he went there because, you know, the enemy of my enemy is my friend kind of thing. At least that's how I feel. They're trying to make John look at the Guardians. But Lou, what were your thoughts on this conversation? I like this scene. It does show to both of y'all pointed to Sinestro. He ain't going to be in there long. Like he's going to be a.
00:09:05
Speaker 5: Some something more for him throughout the second half of the season. So it was good setting that up, and it seems like he's a formidable foe to them. So it was good hearing the conversation and the back and forth, knowing that he probably had something up his sleeve and that he had more information than Hal had.
00:09:21
Speaker 4: So I enjoyed this.
00:09:23
Speaker 7: They're doing a good job of setting him up as a villain.
00:09:28
Speaker 3: And you could see Hal was hurt.
00:09:31
Speaker 2: The way he was describing it, he was like, all right, bro, this is how you play John. pretend like he your buddy buddy whatever stuff like that compliment him on how good he is and then he based off his arrogance he.
00:09:40
Speaker 3: Ain't gonna know what you know when you uh switch.
00:09:42
Speaker 2: Up on him and this is kind of like how somebody in a relationship would turn on you this how you.
00:09:48
Speaker 3: Did me.
00:09:53
Speaker 2: He was like nah bro you you was he's honestly i kept it a bean with you you the one that portrayed he kind of kind of flipped on him like you the betrayed me. I was myself the whole time.
00:10:02
Speaker 3: You was just acting scary.
00:10:07
Speaker 2: After that, we then see John go on his own recon mission to get more intel on what's going on at the making compound.
00:10:15
Speaker 3: He ends up going to a gun store because he just wants the scope, Lou. He ain't want the gun. He just wanted the scope. And we see that. What was your thoughts on that scene?
00:10:24
Speaker 7: I thought it was good. You can't buy the scope without the gun. Then we know he vegan.
00:10:28
Speaker 5: You can't buy the ham sandwich or whatever it is without the tomatoes or whatever.
00:10:33
Speaker 4: How he tied it all in at the end.
00:10:34
Speaker 5: But it goes to show like as viewers, they want us to think something strange going on in the town. Like it's more than maybe one of the man, whatever they call persons. everybody in on it how like deserted the town is and how strange that people are acting so I'm not sure what that's pointing to but I understand that it's saying something and there's just more of that in that scene.
00:11:00
Speaker 1: I really like this scene cause I oh go ahead Ned no no I was gonna ask you.
00:11:05
Speaker 4: He he coming off.
00:11:08
Speaker 1: The television that conversation there was a sense of of arrogance and cockiness with him In here, but also a certain self-awareness because he walked in, he immediately saw that they were talking about him and he knew it. And it could have been off of the fact that he was black or off the fact that he was with Hal Gordon, the Green Lantern. And they kind of played it towards the Green Lantern angle, which, you know, works as well. And it was trying to upsell him on something almost like he didn't. Either he didn't know he had the bread or not because he just put the money down and just took the scope off and walked out. And then he kind of looked back and was like, hey, you guys were fun. That's some shit that Hal Jordan, Hal has been doing throughout the first couple of seasons we've seen him kind of just making fun and mocking people and doing that sort of thing.
00:12:06
Speaker 4: So it was interesting seeing him do that.
00:12:10
Speaker 2: Yeah, I took that as, that was the first time we really seen like, Or I guess we're starting to see personality out of John more than we did in the first previous two episodes. Even in the third episode, we get the background of why he's such a stiff, like a very militant by the book kind of person. But this is now him kind of opening up his personality and making jokes and all that. I think as we get to the next scene, when he uses the scope, because we see he's looking at the making compound and trying to see what's going on there essentially. Hal comes out of nowhere, flies down to him, and he kind of... They have this interesting conversation where John even makes a joke then. Like, Lou, what was your thoughts on the conversation him and Hal had at the water tower when they.
00:12:53
Speaker 4: Were coming up with.
00:12:55
Speaker 3: Pretty much.
00:12:55
Speaker 2: When John was informing Hal what was going on or what he was observing about the compound?
00:13:02
Speaker 4: I liked it because.
00:13:04
Speaker 5: Hal didn't know and Hal was appreciating the fact of how John's mind was working, how he was putting all of this together when he talked about the weenie and where it was placed. And then, well, of course the, the person wouldn't be in the helicopter. So what was being took there? I liked seeing them walk through the process of how each other's mind worked.
00:13:24
Speaker 4: Um, so yeah, that added to it.
00:13:26
Speaker 2: I would think that with that, Lou, uh, You see how much that John had to learn from Hal in episode one, and now we're in episode four. Hal was really listening to... This whole episode, John was really... He had all the plans. He had all the ideas, for the most part. For 90% of it, it worked.
00:13:45
Speaker 5: It felt like he was fascinated by how his mind worked throughout the episode.
00:13:52
Speaker 2: You're known as at least someone who's... I won't say a conspiracy theorist, but somebody who looks into shit. Did you know anything about the Walt Disney stuff with the weenie?
00:14:02
Speaker 4: I did not, but I definitely did look to see if that shit was real.
00:14:06
Speaker 1: And apparently it is. It is basically a visual MacGuffin. And it's interesting because now I'm thinking about like... And I've been to Disneyland.
00:14:20
Speaker 3: I don't know why.
00:14:21
Speaker 4: There's a couple of times when you have kids, you just go. But... Having them or him take.
00:14:37
Speaker 1: That idea that they would teach you about the sort of tricks that an enemy can do to fool people and to have their eyes focused in one area and not another makes a lot of sense because it's all about subterfuge and stuff like that. So when he said it, I was like, yo, that's actually pretty clever to do something like that because everything is a mirage. Everything is a trick. We don't want you paying attention to all the other stuff. So I thought it was good and how they actually use that in a multitude of ways in this episode.

00:15:55
Speaker 2: What's going on jaylen um we still early in this episode, but I want to get your overall thoughts.
00:16:00
Speaker 3: Did you, did you fuck with it or was it a mess for you?
00:16:05
Speaker 4: Um, I fuck with it. I fuck with it.
00:16:08
Speaker 8: Um, is it as high of a high? And we got, we talked, kind of talked about this on the last review. Is it as high as a high as it was on the last episode? No, but overall I still fuck with it. Um, some of the plot points you kind of figure out as you watching it or either they were giving it to you, but, um, Overall, good episode.
00:16:29
Speaker 6: Not mad at this episode at all.
00:16:31
Speaker 2: And yeah, they've been killing me on the lack of information that I know on the show.
00:16:37
Speaker 6: They've been well actually the fuck out of you.
00:16:41
Speaker 2: At this point, I'm going to treat it just like how I can't do it. I ain't going, I ain't saying nothing. I'm just watching the show.
00:16:45
Speaker 3: I'm just going to talk about the review.
00:16:47
Speaker 4: That's the best bet.
00:16:48
Speaker 2: And we'll get to it later because I'm like, my theory is actually better than what they've shown from what I'm seeing.
00:16:54
Speaker 3: But Nonetheless, they're going in a whole different direction.
00:16:59
Speaker 2: But yeah, I was asking him about the scene where John and Howard were talking at the watchtower or the water tower when he had the scope and he was looking around and stuff like that.
00:17:08
Speaker 3: What did you think about how he broke all that down for him?
00:17:11
Speaker 8: Man, my first thought was like, alright, he must be about to do something extravagant for not taking that rifle with that damn scope. I thought, I was like, nigga, I'm surrounded by white people right now. And this town, I don't know And I'm just going to take the scope after I paid for it.
00:17:27
Speaker 6: Nigga, you wilding.
00:17:29
Speaker 4: That ain't no shit.
00:17:29
Speaker 8: Last episode was black as fuck. That ain't no black shit there. No, that rifle is coming with me, nigga. I done spent my hard-earned money.
00:17:36
Speaker 4: Fuck the scope.
00:17:37
Speaker 6: The rifle is coming with me. So that was the main thing.
00:17:40
Speaker 8: I thought maybe he was going to do something extravagant with not taking the rifle, but that didn't show up in this.
00:17:44
Speaker 6: Episode unless I missed it.
00:17:46
Speaker 4: He didn't need the rifle.
00:17:53
Speaker 6: You broke up, Ken. You froze on us.
00:17:54
Speaker 3: Hey, that's a crazy image of Ken.
00:17:57
Speaker 4: What was you saying?
00:18:02
Speaker 1: I said he went in the store. He never needed the rifle anyway. So it kind of made sense for him. They were just trying to get some more money out of it to find a way to not sell it. So I get what you're saying, but he never needed a weapon or he probably already got weapons with him.
00:18:18
Speaker 8: Ken, as a nigga, ain't no way I go in there with a budget of getting a rifle.
00:18:23
Speaker 6: I mean, getting a scope. And then I have to pay for a rifle and I leave that shit. That ain't how that work, bro.
00:18:30
Speaker 8: That's like going in the liquor store saying, oh, damn, I just need a chaser. And the nigga's like, well, nah, you got to get some actual liquor. And I'm just going to leave the liquor on the counter?
00:18:39
Speaker 6: Hell no, nigga. I'm taking this shit with me.
00:18:40
Speaker 3: I thought I paid for it.
00:18:42
Speaker 5: The fuck?
00:18:42
Speaker 4: Nah, because one, I didn't ask for it.
00:18:45
Speaker 1: Two, I'm going to show you up by leaving this motherfucker here because this is not what I asked for. You think you're trying to get over on me. I'm going to get over on you because I don't need this shit.
00:18:56
Speaker 6: How you got over on him when you spent money?
00:18:59
Speaker 1: Because you're trying to make it... It's almost like he may have thought you didn't have the money to afford the rifle. You know, so it's just like, here, man, take this fucking money. I don't need this fucking money.
00:19:11
Speaker 4: Man, listen.
00:19:12
Speaker 8: It's that nigga logic of, like, when people say they go in stores and they get treated racist so they buy the whole store.
00:19:18
Speaker 4: Why, nigga?
00:19:19
Speaker 6: Like, you gave them money. Why?
00:19:23
Speaker 3: I'm looking at it like it's more of a.
00:19:27
Speaker 2: i'm chalking it up to like there's you know there's certain parts of this show that's like built in like the black experience there's certain parts of the show that's built into like just a superhero experience i'm leaning toward a superhero experience as far as like bro superheroes don't care about money like that for some reason like you go you always talk about how broke spider-man is when he can easily take some money anywhere doing a bunch of different things but they just don't care like money don't matter to them because i think they could they know they could easily get it if they really wanted to so i think john is just like bro i got this pension that i got from the military i'm just gonna spend whatever i want to and get for what i need i don't think he really even thinking about it like that i think for him is like it's not that deep but it is for those white people on like who's trying to quote-unquote, get all wrong.
00:20:09
Speaker 3: I don't think he give a fuck about all that. I think that's why he was fucking with him at the end.
00:20:14
Speaker 4: Yeah, I think that was Mander, buddy. I don't even know if that was his.
00:20:19
Speaker 6: I mean, I like this. I like this scene.
00:20:22
Speaker 8: There's not a scene in this episode that I really don't feel. Obviously, we're going to get to the scene that just... Yeah.
00:20:28
Speaker 3: We're going to get to it, J. Don't trust me. I got a whole subsection for it.
00:20:35
Speaker 6: That's crazy.
00:20:36
Speaker 4: Moving on. Once.
00:20:38
Speaker 2: Once george or john tells how about the plan that he has or what his theory is how you know does a surprise pivot in my opinion where he wants to loop in sheriff kelly into this um into their mission and he asked john to basically tell her everything that he just told him um when it comes to what they know about the manhunters and how they're trying to avoid further casualties from what the the other aliens are trying to do to in order to get this manhunter um.
00:21:10
Speaker 3: Jay, what was your thoughts on this scene at the bar when they were talking to Sheriff Kelly?
00:21:20
Speaker 6: Nothing major here other than I felt uneasy about the sheriff. You know what I'm saying?
00:21:28
Speaker 8: It was just something off, bro. It's just something. Something's off. It's something, Nick. I don't know what it is, but this scene right here reaffirmed like, yeah, you supposed to be the helping the good guys but for some reason your shit ain't lining up and even though how i was like yeah i did a background on you and gotham and you weren't here at that time i'm like all right and you married you married to this nigga and don't know shit about what he got going on now maybe that's how white folk work you know what i'm saying but i even know as a girlfriend like girl black women as a girlfriend they'd be all in your shit i don't know and i don't know no wife that's not gonna be like that so maybe it's maybe it's different for them but I was just like, nah, this shit ain't adding up.
00:22:08
Speaker 6: It's just off a little bit. I don't know what it is, Nick.
00:22:13
Speaker 5: I'm going to address that a little bit later. Lou, what is your thoughts? I agree with Jayla. Something awful about this. One is, why is nobody in the town at work? They kind of addressed it and they showed a little bit with the hospital. Then they showed it with the bar. She's telling us everybody multitask. It just don't make sense to me. Adding to what you guys say, about something being off of her, and she.
00:22:36
Speaker 7: Always kind of just brush it off. Like, what the fuck is everybody?
00:22:40
Speaker 5: And that was one of the main things for me to make me think something was off with her.
00:22:45
Speaker 8: Well, they addressed the hospital part later when they say that basically the manhunter came and, like, nobody is sick anymore.
00:22:53
Speaker 6: Cured everybody, yeah.
00:22:54
Speaker 5: But still, I don't know. I just, like, nobody ever anywhere? That don't make sense to me.
00:23:04
Speaker 4: I feel you. Ken, what about you?
00:23:09
Speaker 1: You were right about, I think that was, I'm pretty sure it was you about the relationship they're trying to form between her and Hal. Um, cause they, they made a little reference to it again.
00:23:26
Speaker 4: In this one. Um, I don't know her angle yet.
00:23:33
Speaker 1: Uh, it, It feels like it's somewhat sincere. I'm more suspicious of her husband just owning this bar and multitasking. I thought that that was a very interesting line that she said. But to Spike's point, there's nobody in the bar. So maybe they just don't drink, but we saw him at another bar. So I don't know what's going on. Maybe it's a nighttime bar.
00:23:56
Speaker 6: Who knows?
00:23:57
Speaker 1: But I don't know why she's so hell-bent on helping them it just doesn't make sense when it seems like when she's kind of, either she wants them out and now she's trying to help them.
00:24:11
Speaker 4: So I don't know what that is all about yet.
00:24:16
Speaker 2: To me, Jay, it's like, it's either bad writing for us to feel not convinced about her assistance or there is some type of secret she's hiding or something. I mean, she kind of addressed it and I think in the first episode when it went to the Macon's compound the first time around, she was like, you need to leave. Like, You don't want to get wrapped up in this shit. This shit is going to be more than what you think.
00:24:39
Speaker 3: And maybe we'll get that revealed.
00:24:41
Speaker 2: But yeah, she is like, okay. Because even when Hal was like, bro, you just going to say okay to all this shit?
00:24:46
Speaker 6: We just told you?
00:24:47
Speaker 2: She was like, nigga, you telling me the town about to blow up in 36 hours? What other choice I got? So logically, it's like, okay, that makes sense. But at the same time, I don't get any reassurance. This ain't like Misty Knight, how she was the black cop in the Netflix shows from the Marvel shit, where she was just like, you kind of believe that she's, um, a good cop. That's just, you know, trying to help, um, help out these supernatural beings.
00:25:12
Speaker 3: But this one is just kind of like, she seems like she's trying.
00:25:14
Speaker 2: To do good work, but also burying the secrets of the town.
00:25:20
Speaker 4: Like, I don't know.
00:25:21
Speaker 3: It's, it's a weird thing.
00:25:23
Speaker 2: Maybe that's why Hal fucked with her because she got a little mystery to her too. But, um, I'm curious to see how this all gets revealed, but, After leaving the bar, both Hal and John head back to the motel and decide to go to the making compound. After Sheriff Kelly kind of gives them the okay to do it, they decide to go at night. However, we do see earlier in this episode, I didn't get a chance to touch on it, John's been getting phone calls from his peoples. His dad calling him. I think his mom tried to reach out to have him speak with the guardians because basically the guardians.
00:25:56
Speaker 3: Trying to talk to him.
00:25:58
Speaker 4: Ken.
00:26:00
Speaker 2: What was your thoughts on when the Guardian busted up in John's room and saying, like, what the.
00:26:04
Speaker 4: Hell are you doing?
00:26:10
Speaker 1: Like how later on in the episode when he was like, you believe everything that they say.
00:26:18
Speaker 4: Now they look suspicious.
00:26:21
Speaker 1: And you want him to commit this act when you can easily just do it for him. So are you... They appear to be growing very, very impatient. It seems like they have no real discipline at all over the Guardians. Sinestro went crazy. Hal just does whatever the fuck he wants. And now Jon Stewart is disobeying orders as well. When he, as we learned in the last episode, is supposed to just follow orders.
00:26:52
Speaker 4: So.
00:26:53
Speaker 1: they set him up to either test them to see if he will follow through on the, on the commands or to see if he's actually the one.
00:27:02
Speaker 4: And now they're expressing doubt.
00:27:05
Speaker 1: So what's going to happen now that D that he didn't follow through it.
00:27:09
Speaker 4: And what's the next course of action.
00:27:10
Speaker 1: And do they even have a backup plan for how to deal with John Stewart? Now we know from the first episode, shit got sorted out. It seems like, but how do we get there?
00:27:21
Speaker 4: So that, uh, we're we're watching in real time to see what happened.
00:27:26
Speaker 2: Lou was it foul for i think the guardian's name is liana or at least that's how they say it in the show maybe but i'm just gonna portray the guardian um was it foul for the guardian say like all right bro your daddy was a bitch ass nigga and i see it's hereditary.
00:27:43
Speaker 5: She said we worried about this with your daddy oh Nah, she was well to her rights. I feel like she was telling him, like, bro, you waiting on something to happen. Like, we already done gave you permission for it. Like, why are you trying to impress him? You don't work for him. You work for us. And I think that John is on this whole I got to prove it to hell before I get in the ring thing. And she was there to tell him, like, nah, you ain't got to prove shit. We already done picked you. Get him up out of here. We tired of dealing with him. So I thought that was interesting. And I thought it was interesting that he didn't want to do it. Like, he still felt like he had to prove some shit. to Hal, which was not the mission at all.
00:28:18
Speaker 4: So this was interesting, to say the least.
00:28:21
Speaker 1: But I wonder if there's a way that he wants to go about doing it. Like, he wants to earn it. Well, why do that matter?
00:28:28
Speaker 5: If they telling him, and the people that he worked for, if they telling him, we don't need you to do that, why is he.
00:28:34
Speaker 4: Trying to prove something to Hal? It's not to Hal.
00:28:38
Speaker 1: I think he feels better if he actually earns the ring Not that they're just giving it to him as a, you know, the saying that everybody was saying since this is happening. Almost like a D.E.R. It's like, I want to prove that I actually earned this shit.
00:28:56
Speaker 2: I think it's more about he fucks with Hal.
00:28:59
Speaker 6: I think that's more so.
00:29:01
Speaker 2: He's building a relationship with him to where it's just like, I'm not trying to do buddy like that.
00:29:06
Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying? When I didn't know anything about him.
00:29:10
Speaker 2: Remember in the last episode guy was trying to break down like the mission for him he was like bro i don't give a fuck about who cuz he's just telling me about the mission like once he he's always just focused on the mission but now the mission is getting to know this person learning from this person it's kind of like same reason why hal treats sinestro it's like bro i i can deal with you a certain way but i can't go all the way with you all day with you and act like i don't know who you are and.
00:29:38
Speaker 3: I have affinity for that. I don't know if that's what you're thinking about too, Jay.
00:29:42
Speaker 8: Yeah, because him earning it, this nigga whole life has been earning it.
00:29:46
Speaker 4: Fuck all that.
00:29:48
Speaker 8: Let me prove to this white man. I proved to the people over the ring that I deserve this shit. And then the people who I've been working for to prove it to, they literally said to me, take that shit. So yeah, that can't be it. It has to be more so just a feeling of how. And maybe it's something else we're missing right now. But as of right now, I think it's just I fuck with Buddy. Even though he an asshole, he's still about the work.
00:30:17
Speaker 6: You know what I'm saying? He still is mission focused.
00:30:20
Speaker 3: He's still good at his job.
00:30:21
Speaker 8: Yeah, exactly. He's doing it in a fucked up way. And he treating me like shit, but he know what the fuck he doing. Like, and I'm like, I'm still learning about the position from him.
00:30:32
Speaker 6: So I get it.
00:30:35
Speaker 8: Cause the other part that, that as black people, we know we hate to get a job where like we put as a scapegoat, like you ain't really give us all the tools to do it. You just put us in this position just so you can like put somebody else in here.
00:30:47
Speaker 6: You know what I'm saying? Like you want us to look bad.
00:30:49
Speaker 8: So I don't want to get in this position to half-ass it because I don't know what the fuck I'm doing.
00:30:53
Speaker 6: So, yeah, let me learn from this nigga as much as possible.
00:30:55
Speaker 8: That could be it. I think it's more so he just fuck with him in a sense. But I don't think it's about I need to prove I earned this job. No, nigga, my whole life has been earning this job. Nigga, fuck all that other shit.
00:31:05
Speaker 2: It reminds me a lot of like a sports analogy where it's like the interim head.
00:31:10
Speaker 3: Coach or like.
00:31:13
Speaker 2: The hire after the coach that was there for a long period of time, we just needed somebody.
00:31:17
Speaker 3: Basically, like how they treated Gerard Mayo in New England. Belichick went out. We just needed somebody.
00:31:21
Speaker 2: To take these losses real quick before we get the guy we really want in there. And to me, it's like, I look at the Guardians differently in this scene because it's like, bro, why are y'all eager to get this shit rolling? You know what I'm saying? And like John said, he's like, bro, you asking me all this stuff, bro. You could have been done this. Why am I doing all your work for you? And it was very much interesting how the Guardians took that as a defense of like, oh, maybe you don't want it.
00:31:46
Speaker 4: Maybe you ain't built for it.
00:31:47
Speaker 2: And it's like, bro, it ain't got nothing to do with that. I'm really asking you, why are you pressed? What did he do so bad? Oh, he went to go visit Sinestro? Okay, that's not... I mean, it's a vow, but it ain't nothing that you would think as an audience. That's a deadly sin. And he's the one that put Sinestro... That got him locked up in the first place. So it's just kind of.
00:32:05
Speaker 3: Like, what's really going on? It makes me really question the Guardians.
00:32:09
Speaker 8: And we also know because they already revealed that he don't get the ring while they're discovering this shit out right here. Because, like, when Howell died, like, he was looking at Howell for the ring 10 years later, like, in present day. So we know he doesn't get the ring during this. So when he, when they were telling him to go take it, I was like, well, shit, he ain't gonna do it because we see that he really, unless there's a reason that he gives it back, he's not gonna get it and be the main Green Lantern in that moment. So, yeah, I was looking at it as, like, yeah, he fucks with Howell. Like, And maybe that's the reason why he doesn't get the ring in present day. That's more so I was putting the pieces together of, yeah, you're going to fuck yourself over by having feelings for this white man.
00:32:46
Speaker 2: What's crazy is that now that you mentioned it, bro, what if Jon Stewart don't become a Green Lantern at all?
00:32:53
Speaker 4: Hey, bro.
00:32:54
Speaker 6: Hey. Hey, man.
00:32:56
Speaker 4: Hey, man.
00:32:58
Speaker 3: And they just give it to another white man because we know he's Superman. He's a white man.
00:33:02
Speaker 4: That's the way.
00:33:03
Speaker 3: He do all this work and then give it to a white man?
00:33:06
Speaker 8: I mean, he's supposed to show up, too. But I guess it wouldn't be the craziest thing. It wouldn't be crazy because in real life, I mean, you do all that bootlicking and still be fucked over.
00:33:20
Speaker 2: I'd be sorry for my nigga John, boy. We then see John and Hal go to the compound using John's plan of digging a tunnel because, again, since he's an artist, he knows how to create certain things. And we find some crazy stuff in this compound. Lou, what was your thoughts on this scene? Before we get there, as John and Hal are tunneling through to get underneath the compound, the conversation that they had.
00:33:52
Speaker 4: A conversation at the end.
00:33:54
Speaker 3: Between Hal and John? No, no, no.
00:33:56
Speaker 2: As they're digging through the tunnel where John asked him about his dad and all that stuff.
00:34:03
Speaker 5: I still think this is a play off the towel where he's trying to figure out how Hal's trying to figure out how John's mind works, even when he was telling him the thing that they built to go through the tunnel.
00:34:14
Speaker 4: He was like, you thought of it, nigga. Go on and put it. I can't do it. You do it, nigga.
00:34:19
Speaker 5: So I just think it was still, like, just more playing off of that. And then I think he's just fascinated by his mind and how it works.
00:34:27
Speaker 6: So, yeah.
00:34:28
Speaker 2: You didn't get anything from John when he was asking him, like, more about his dad. What was your upbringing like? He was like, I lost my mom to cancer. She lived a good life. My dad did what he could.
00:34:40
Speaker 3: He died a hero.
00:34:42
Speaker 2: And he tried to show that he wasn't scared, but we knew he probably would. And to me, in that conversation, I saw this is how very similar him and John are. This is where they connect.
00:34:53
Speaker 4: You know what I'm saying?
00:34:54
Speaker 7: Yeah, I did pick up on the similarities in their stories. It didn't move me as a viewer at all.
00:35:00
Speaker 5: I was more so thought More so thinking about his thought processes of how John thinks. But yeah, now that you point that out, it does, I guess, have some significance that they both had those similar backgrounds about their dads and having a fear and things of that nature.
00:35:15
Speaker 4: So, yeah.
00:35:18
Speaker 3: Ken, what did you take away from that?
00:35:23
Speaker 1: Al was starting to work his plan after Sinestro.
00:35:31
Speaker 4: When he was like, well, you know, here, you take the ring, you go do it.
00:35:35
Speaker 1: I also think it was for us because this just came off the tail end of the other conversation to see if Hal, if John's really going to take the oath and how would he do it? Because I wanted to see him do it, but would Hal have punched him and stopped him? Like, what would have been that whole process if he did? So, and I wondered if Hal suspected that John was about to betray him and that the guardian is visiting him and that he gave him the ring to see if he was going to go through with it or not. So, um, as far as that conversation and, you know, drawing, um, you.
00:36:12
Speaker 4: Know, parallels between the two of them. Yeah. They both, um, John's dad's still alive.
00:36:21
Speaker 1: And, um, the other guy, when they both were in the military and his dad was, You know, he looked at his dad as being fearless, and he died on that thing. And the lasting image we have of John's dad is him crying in that bubble. So we know what his dad is as fearless. I don't know if that was a shot at John down or not.
00:36:44
Speaker 4: Hey, bro.
00:36:46
Speaker 2: That scene, I still rewind that scene, Jay. But that dude was like, I'm scared. I'm scared. He was such a bitch-ass nigga. The mama had to step up. She ran the house, kid.
00:36:59
Speaker 5: Yeah.
00:37:00
Speaker 4: He knew about it.
00:37:02
Speaker 6: See, this is why we didn't need Nick last week. Because we all admitted he would have did the same fucking thing. Nick trying to act like he tough as hell. He would have did the same shit. We all would have been in there. Yeah, I'm scared, nigga. Take this shit out.
00:37:15
Speaker 3: I'm not saying anything differently.
00:37:17
Speaker 2: I'm just saying no one got me on video with my reaction.
00:37:23
Speaker 3: These jokes got to fly, Jay.
00:37:24
Speaker 2: I don't care what you say.
00:37:30
Speaker 3: Now, Jayla, would you have said the oath? That was my question to you. Would you have said the oath as soon as you got the ring? Fuck yeah.
00:37:35
Speaker 4: Yeah, fuck yeah.
00:37:36
Speaker 6: I would have did it right in front of that white nigga's face, too. I would have did it right there.
00:37:40
Speaker 8: When he was contemplating it, I would have said that shit fast as hell. I would have ran in the opposite direction and started saying it. And turn around and put that nigga in a box with the fucking ring.
00:37:51
Speaker 6: Like, hell yeah, I would have said it. I don't know why he second-guessed it. But that's his prerogative, man.
00:37:57
Speaker 8: Especially after you made this design and he tells you to do it.
00:38:00
Speaker 6: It's more your training. All right, nigga.
00:38:03
Speaker 8: They already told me I'm good for the job, nigga. Let me go ahead and make sure my paycheck look right, nigga. Fuck all that. You playing around. Yeah, I would have said it immediately.
00:38:14
Speaker 3: That's funny. I get why John ain't trying to do it like that.
00:38:22
Speaker 4: You want to.
00:38:22
Speaker 2: Because that's like some sneak attack sleazeball shit, bro.
00:38:28
Speaker 3: And that's going to be on your resume. It's going to be.
00:38:30
Speaker 4: On your resume, bro. I did what I was told. Come on with that. Get out of here. Get this white man out of here, bro. Sorry. Sorry, buddy, buddy.
00:38:43
Speaker 6: He a white man. He gonna get another opportunity somewhere.
00:38:45
Speaker 4: He gonna get another job.
00:38:46
Speaker 6: He gonna get an opportunity somewhere. This ain't guaranteed.
00:38:49
Speaker 4: He probably gonna get a better job.
00:38:52
Speaker 6: Bro, we know who he is.
00:38:53
Speaker 3: He ain't that type of white man.
00:38:55
Speaker 5: He ain't got nothing to do with that.
00:39:00
Speaker 2: If you remove the Green Lantern from him, bro, he is a bum. He is a lonely bum.
00:39:05
Speaker 4: Sorry.
00:39:06
Speaker 6: But he can live on.
00:39:07
Speaker 4: That's probably why they want me to replace you.
00:39:09
Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah.
00:39:11
Speaker 5: Nah I would have said that I went Jay as soon as he gave me that ring it would have been no hesitation whatever.
00:39:16
Speaker 4: The saying need to be blah blah blah blah blah holler.
00:39:19
Speaker 1: At you would have been like twisting.
00:39:23
Speaker 8: And black this black ass nigga got the ring hell yeah nigga.
00:39:29
Speaker 2: Um As they were sneaking around, Hal ends up stepping on a trip alarm inside the compound. And we see that they got high-end, high-tech weapons, more so probably alien-type tech. But Hal fucked up, and he caused them to get captured by Will, making security. And they get brought to Will for some further questioning. Lou, what are your thoughts on this scene between Will Howell and John?
00:39:56
Speaker 7: Will Macon got me fucked up.
00:39:58
Speaker 4: I was with him. Ain't no one in the world.
00:40:04
Speaker 2: Hey, Lou, go to your head, bro. You got to draw this white man naked. I respect how.
00:40:11
Speaker 4: John handled it, though. John handled it like this is what he do.
00:40:13
Speaker 5: I guess he an artist, so it didn't bother him at all. But nah, it would have took a lot more than them standing in the corner with the gun. So they would have to, like you said, come put the gun, like, you got to draw this.
00:40:25
Speaker 1: You got to draw stick figures.
00:40:29
Speaker 8: And it would have been quick, like you said, stick figures.
00:40:36
Speaker 4: No, this was funny.
00:40:38
Speaker 8: The white man doing this shit ain't the weirdest part. It's the fact that John actually drew that shit, bro. Like, that's the part that was the weirdest part to me. Like, you just have, like, I don't even say you happily But in your normal emotional state, you drew that shit, bro. Like you said, Spike, he got me fucked up. He didn't think twice about it.
00:41:00
Speaker 4: That's what I'm saying.
00:41:01
Speaker 6: You would have got at least some pushback. Like, nigga, what the fuck?
00:41:05
Speaker 3: They got the ring.
00:41:06
Speaker 2: Neither Hal nor John have the ring. It's on the desk. And you're in a room full of guns. I think he mentioned something like, I'm going to shoot you if you don't.
00:41:15
Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying?
00:41:16
Speaker 2: It's not like John had a pen and pad that was like, sit on the desk for me.
00:41:21
Speaker 8: Again, Nick, it's the push. He didn't even give a pushback. Like, at least give some pushback. Like, something in me would just be like, nigga, fuck.
00:41:30
Speaker 6: No, I ain't drawing you, nigga.
00:41:31
Speaker 4: You naked.
00:41:32
Speaker 6: No, I'm not doing that shit. I'm like, yeah, like, you would have to bring the guns closer for me. All right, yeah, I got you.
00:41:37
Speaker 4: I got you. All right, cool.
00:41:38
Speaker 6: That nigga didn't give no pushback at all. He's like, all right, I got you.
00:41:41
Speaker 4: I'm going to do it.
00:41:45
Speaker 1: I mean, he did guide him into the right direction. He's like, you need to sit over here. Stand over here because it ain't going to work. But it was a weird scene, but I'm not surprised. He must have thought I had that shit planned out because he was already in his robe.
00:42:07
Speaker 4: As soon as he captured him, he already knew.
00:42:11
Speaker 3: He hurried up.
00:42:12
Speaker 2: He took out his clothes.
00:42:18
Speaker 3: He said, I've been waiting for this moment.
00:42:22
Speaker 4: You can draw. What's your medium of choice? Charcoal. I got you. Charcoal. Look at that.
00:42:34
Speaker 3: He was walking around for a minute before he sat down.
00:42:40
Speaker 1: Nobody else flinched. She must do this shit a lot. Everybody else was fine. Even the daughter came in and was like, hey, man, put that shit away.
00:42:47
Speaker 6: And he never did.
00:42:49
Speaker 3: Hey, bruh, he was over here making jokes. Let's address the elephant room.
00:42:52
Speaker 1: He was like, which one? Hal's stupid as hell, bro. Hal would not have done that shit. Hell nah. He looked at John a little sideways. He was like, alright, bro.
00:43:06
Speaker 4: Exactly.
00:43:07
Speaker 6: The white man looking at you sideways, bruh.
00:43:09
Speaker 3: He said, hey, yo, you told him to hurt his shoulders?
00:43:17
Speaker 1: He was standing right in front of him.
00:43:19
Speaker 2: Hey, kid, he used his finger to shade. I'm like, what you shading for? It's supposed to be an outline, my guy.
00:43:28
Speaker 4: He was concentrating. Hal did all the talking, I think.
00:43:33
Speaker 3: But to your point, Jay, this is where we get the information as far as.
00:43:37
Speaker 2: One, that Zoe or Sexy Grandma saved Will's life who had cancer. The benefactor or whoever is supplying them with This land and these supplies of weapons is able to cure cancer, essentially, and all other health issues. And they're trying to protect that. So that's why they want the Larrys to leave. They once again ask John nicely. I mean, how nicely? Like, bro, can you get the fuck out of here? And John's like, nah, I ain't doing it.
00:44:06
Speaker 3: I'm not going.
00:44:07
Speaker 2: If anything, this is making me want to stay because y'all keep trying to get me to leave. But then Sheriff Kelly comes in. and randomly saves the day, did we really get a great explanation how they was about to get killed in a weird way, and she came in and was like, I'm going to lock them up.
00:44:27
Speaker 3: Don't worry about it. They were trespassing. I got this. How did y'all take that?
00:44:31
Speaker 4: That add to what we were saying earlier. Like, it's something off with her.
00:44:34
Speaker 5: Like, it's something off with her whole relationship to this thing and how she's treating them.
00:44:39
Speaker 4: And, like, it's just weird. And, like, I feel like... still she just can walk in there and be like, hey, you know what?
00:44:48
Speaker 5: You was going to kill the most powerful man in the county, but now I'm going to come take them just because.
00:44:54
Speaker 4: It don't make sense. Nah.
00:44:58
Speaker 2: Yeah.
00:45:01
Speaker 4: Yeah.
00:45:03
Speaker 6: I'm with you, Spike. It's a little off.
00:45:07
Speaker 8: Making is a pretty about his shit dude.
00:45:11
Speaker 4: You know what I'm saying?
00:45:12
Speaker 6: As far as I do what the fuck I want. Like, fuck that sheriff shit.
00:45:16
Speaker 8: Like, yeah, you got a badge or whatever. But for some reason, she got that off. Like, yeah, she came in and did that. And the fact that she got the ring back. Like, even if he let them go, she got the ring back.
00:45:28
Speaker 4: Too, bro.
00:45:29
Speaker 6: Exactly. That's the crazier part.
00:45:31
Speaker 4: Huh? She just grabbed it, too.
00:45:34
Speaker 6: Yeah, so I'm kind of confused. Like, even as making, like, I would at least kept the ring.
00:45:38
Speaker 8: Like, yeah, these niggas ain't. Like, they can't get up out of here, but I got the ring now. So for her to get the ring is like, all right, that was strange. When they get out the car, I'm looking at it as like, all right, she got him back. Now they got to go back there and get the ring. And so when she gave it to him, I was like, all right, that's kind of strange. They gave it to her because that was the leverage that they would have if she actually just like came in there and basically like put a dick on the table as far as being a sheriff. But yeah, something's off.
00:46:04
Speaker 4: But that's, that's, isn't that her daddy?
00:46:08
Speaker 6: No, she is married to, yeah, she's married to his son.
00:46:12
Speaker 4: Yes, her dad is her father.
00:46:14
Speaker 1: Oh, so she just said because I heard her say dad put it away.
00:46:18
Speaker 4: Okay. Yeah.
00:46:21
Speaker 1: Well, I still think that does give her leeway to do that, though. She's the sheriff. You know, you've arrested them for trespassing. This ring is part of their property. So I'm confiscating that as well because, you know, we have to process it, too. Because now at that point, if you keep the ring, then that becomes stolen property. And then they can get arrested, quote-unquote, for that. In addition to murder, now that she's on scene for that as well, because now she'll be an accomplice for that.
00:46:56
Speaker 4: Possibly.
00:46:59
Speaker 2: That's a lot of lawful talk in an ill-lawful situation is what I'm trying to get to. I agree with mostly what you're saying, but in that situation, like Lou was leading to, it's like, bro, if we're in if we dealing by cowboy rules, 90% of what you.
00:47:14
Speaker 3: Said don't matter. But we'll, again, we'll figure out what Sheriff Keller is really up to.
00:47:19
Speaker 2: I feel like in the next episode or two, but we see after being saved by the sheriff, um, she drops them off at that shit ball motel. They staying at, um, tell them to be on the lookout. Cause now we'll make, and it's like, yeah, I got you out of this situation, but now he's on your shit list. So he's going to be sending more people more than likely. Um, So Hal and John go to their own respective rooms with John doing the Malcolm X, you know, peeping through the blinds with the shoddy.
00:47:46
Speaker 3: And lo and behold, a familiar person comes to visit John.
00:47:51
Speaker 2: Jalen, this is where I'm going to wait to hear y'all thoughts and then I'm going to share mine. But I'm going to start with you first, bro. What were your thoughts on the scene between John and Zoe?
00:47:59
Speaker 6: I don't know what the fuck wrong with this nigga, John. I just don't get it.
00:48:05
Speaker 8: Like, your original point as far as, like, It's like she's an attractive.
00:48:11
Speaker 6: Woman, but she ain't that damn attractive, bro. She ain't that. She ain't that, nah. You done got caught up with her being a married woman.
00:48:23
Speaker 8: And then y'all went to this bar and she done told you the bullshit she done been into. And then you go to this nigga house and he made you draw him naked. And a part of it was because you was sleeping with his wife. she ain't that bad, dude, I got it, like, I got a gun on her, but I'm, you know what, you so fine, I'm gonna put my gun down, like, like, I got it, like, I can't control myself, nah, nigga, she ain't that, bruh, she ain't, so when he did that, I was like, yeah, I don't, I don't know, man, y'all, I don't get it, but the conversation that they had, that's when it was revealed to me that she's the manhunter, like, I just, like, the conversation itself, just like, yeah, when she admitted that she was the one that was healing him and helping him, and if she tells him the truth, it tells too much.
00:49:08
Speaker 6: They're like, oh yeah, you the Manhunter. Like, all right, bet.
00:49:14
Speaker 5: What was your thoughts, Lou? Same thing, that she was a manhunter. That was the main thing I got out of the conversation. So maybe that's why he's pulled to her. Because, again, to Jay, the point of your point, she all right, but she ain't worth everything that he done been through to be having her. So maybe there's a different pull, and that's the manhunter pull in which she gives off, but It could be an obvious pool, Lou.
00:49:41
Speaker 2: Hey, that man got that.
00:49:45
Speaker 4: He's got the.
00:49:45
Speaker 3: Man on the walk.
00:49:48
Speaker 4: He's got the man on the walk.
00:49:51
Speaker 6: And she said it's so much better in there than it was in the truck.
00:49:54
Speaker 3: Hey, boy.
00:49:56
Speaker 4: Hey, bro.
00:49:57
Speaker 3: She got that. She dripping like a data center, boy.
00:50:01
Speaker 5: Yeah, so I'm wondering what the pool is.
00:50:06
Speaker 4: Now that we know she's a manhunter, is that supposed to be it? What's your thoughts, Ken? So he's sleeping with the alien. Ish. We don't even know.
00:50:19
Speaker 3: I think the man, they machines.
00:50:25
Speaker 6: I'm assuming they like androids.
00:50:27
Speaker 8: Like based off and then off of watching Justice League again, I think they like android type things there.
00:50:33
Speaker 4: So yeah. Well, hmm. At first, I thought the gun was the drone that killed her. That shit was nice. And old boy was pissed off.
00:50:47
Speaker 1: But as far as them in there, it's clear that she already told us and him that she can do whatever she wants. So her showing up there was nice. And I like how they use that to build tension of a pending threat. Because that was the other thing the sheriff was like, look, I got you guys out of that situation.
00:51:11
Speaker 4: But I can't get you out of this. You guys need to be on high alert.
00:51:15
Speaker 1: Um, so, and, and he, so he let them go with the supposed intent on killing them. And then she showed up, um, to, I guess maybe tell on herself.
00:51:28
Speaker 4: I don't know, but.
00:51:31
Speaker 1: It's, uh, but my thing is with, with him, if when did, well, I guess we'll get there, but, um, But yeah, I don't think I really have much more.
00:51:42
Speaker 4: From this scene.
00:51:43
Speaker 1: It's just, they just play more into the romantic relationship between them two.
00:51:53
Speaker 2: So for me, Jay, I've been re-watching, again, the Justice League. And again, I was wrong on my prediction on what Manhunter this was, but there is a Justice League episode about Manhunters with John Stewart is on trial and all that. So that's when we kind of get that information. So I get that back story. But then there's this episode of Justice League, and you brought it up, Jay. But John got up. John's resume lineup is insane. There's an episode that I just watched. There's an episode I just watched where the original, his mentor.
00:52:28
Speaker 3: The trainer, they're really insane.
00:52:30
Speaker 2: And I'm like, bro, you telling me this little, this sexy grandma's what getting them caught up, bro? Lou, you know, the name I just found out, I'm watching season two of The Gentleman on Netflix. First episode in season two, bro, there's this woman, real name, I think it's Maya Jamba. or J-A-M-A. If she was the one casted in this role, Lou, hey, I'm trying to tell you.
00:52:54
Speaker 3: Look it up. I'm trying to tell you. All right, I believe.
00:52:57
Speaker 2: Nick Jonas' wife, I keep going back to her, Priyanka, I didn't say.
00:53:01
Speaker 6: Her name last time.
00:53:01
Speaker 4: Priyanka, uh, Topra.
00:53:05
Speaker 3: If she was the... I understand it because it makes sense, bro.
00:53:08
Speaker 2: Ken, they not giving Aaron Pierre his dude as the guy who's.
00:53:14
Speaker 3: In line right now. Because they giving him this?
00:53:18
Speaker 2: This is basically like when Halle Berry was with Billy Bob in Monster Ball.
00:53:24
Speaker 3: We giving y'all our best and we get C-list.
00:53:30
Speaker 2: Again, she ain't... I'm not saying she's hideous. I'm just saying, bro, she ain't... We know what Jon Stewart is working with in the lore.
00:53:39
Speaker 6: Like, Hawkgirl.
00:53:41
Speaker 3: What's her name? The black woman who got all the animal.
00:53:45
Speaker 3: What's her name, Jay? It's not Link.
00:53:48
Speaker 4: Vixen. Vixen. Hawkgirl, Vixen.
00:53:51
Speaker 3: The trainer, the... I was like, Katrina?
00:53:52
Speaker 4: What was her name?
00:53:53
Speaker 3: Katina or something like that?
00:53:54
Speaker 6: Katina, yeah.
00:53:55
Speaker 4: I appreciate it.
00:53:58
Speaker 3: It don't make no sense for why he's, like, having a shotgun to this woman that he knows.
00:54:03
Speaker 2: is the trouble that's going around town and he can't do nothing but just.
00:54:07
Speaker 3: Like lay down with her. And we gonna get to another scene later where it cost him. It legit cost him.
00:54:13
Speaker 8: Man, even outside of that, Nick, this nigga went from Tiana Taylor to this.
00:54:22
Speaker 6: I'm sitting here like, nah. And again, she's attractive.
00:54:25
Speaker 4: It's just, no.
00:54:26
Speaker 7: It just don't fit.
00:54:27
Speaker 3: It just don't fit.
00:54:29
Speaker 2: Again, to me, I'm looking at it also because it's like, last episode of john he is built up as someone who does not get attached to things very quickly.
00:54:41
Speaker 3: Or like he his whole skill.
00:54:44
Speaker 2: Set and i think the thing that makes him arable is like how he can disconnect and how he can just focus how is she hold like again it must be some what's the pheromones going off with the man hunters that only affected the black man kid because you know how they say about black men on the job they'll get you my way or nothing and it's usually through women.
00:55:03
Speaker 3: And it's just like I don't understand.
00:55:06
Speaker 2: It doesn't make any sense why he is just so drawn, why he's willing to drop all his defenses and everything and be laid up in this roach-infested motel. It just grinded my gears. That's all I was trying to say. The scene itself was fine. And I love how they, again, we're four episodes in. We're halfway through the season, I think. And they're now revealing who the Manhunter is. which after everybody's been speculating on who it could be and it was just too obvious for one and two it just kind of was just like all right bro i'm ready to move on that's all after that go ahead you think it was too obvious yeah because she's the only one that stands out she's the only person of color there in that whole town um she's drawn to john mainly i think because she knows he's not a green lantern and so maybe she couldn't go to howl And John is somebody who is like, I'm just feeling your vibe and I can kind of feel like I can connect with you more than anybody.
00:56:10
Speaker 3: And again, I'm not sure why.
00:56:12
Speaker 2: Again, they're not really explaining why they've had this natural attraction to each other or any of that. But if she was Priyanka or Maya, did you see it, Lou?
00:56:19
Speaker 3: You see what I was talking about?
00:56:20
Speaker 2: I didn't see what you were talking about.
00:56:23
Speaker 4: I couldn't find it. You said, what was her name?
00:56:26
Speaker 3: Maya Jem, J-A-M-A.
00:56:29
Speaker 2: She used to date the rapper Stormzy too, bro.
00:56:33
Speaker 8: I guess for me it just wasn't obvious until she started talking to him. It wasn't obvious until she started.
00:56:44
Speaker 4: Talking about it.
00:56:44
Speaker 8: But I guess if you break it down that way, I can see from your point of view how it was obvious.
00:56:49
Speaker 2: But yeah, I didn't pick it up until she actually said it to him. It was just kind of like, all right. I'm glad we got it out the way and we can kind of move on. But what was your thoughts on the next scene when she left in the car?
00:57:04
Speaker 3: They just blew up the car. That was crazy.
00:57:08
Speaker 6: It didn't really bother me.
00:57:09
Speaker 8: I didn't really think too much because I knew she wasn't dead.
00:57:12
Speaker 6: She just revealed she's a manhunter. She ain't dead.
00:57:16
Speaker 8: Like, she's not dead. At least to me, that's what I thought. I just thought he was more heartbroken. Like, damn, I just fucked. And then she died.
00:57:25
Speaker 4: I thought that.
00:57:26
Speaker 3: Was his sad face.
00:57:28
Speaker 6: Yeah, I thought that was John. Like, damn, bro, she died right there.
00:57:32
Speaker 4: I thought, fuck.
00:57:33
Speaker 6: At least I fucked.
00:57:34
Speaker 5: Damn.
00:57:36
Speaker 6: Like, that's the part that I was thinking.
00:57:38
Speaker 8: But other than that, it was like, she alive, man.
00:57:40
Speaker 6: She definitely alive.
00:57:44
Speaker 4: When Hal came out. Go ahead, Kim. I'm not bad. Go ahead. Oh, no.
00:57:50
Speaker 1: I was just saying, I like when Hal came out, and he was like, what happened to where? He was like, 45 degrees northeast. He was like, point, nigga!
00:57:58
Speaker 3: Just wait. He just said it.
00:58:07
Speaker 2: He just said it. I looked at the captions, kid. He didn't say, nigga.
00:58:11
Speaker 3: When he came off, point, nigga.
00:58:13
Speaker 4: He felt that way.
00:58:14
Speaker 6: He felt that way.
00:58:20
Speaker 2: I wish somebody would tell me 45 degrees north, bruh, if you don't point.
00:58:24
Speaker 3: If you don't.
00:58:29
Speaker 2: Give me a grounded answer.
00:58:34
Speaker 6: That nigga, though, you can feel it. You can feel energy when you want it.
00:58:38
Speaker 4: You definitely could. You know what that shit mean, too. Uh-huh. I thought she was dead.
00:58:48
Speaker 3: I ain't going to lie. I thought she was dead.
00:58:50
Speaker 5: I don't think it made no sense for her to die like that.
00:58:58
Speaker 4: It could have. I didn't know. I didn't know. I was like, damn, they took her off the board. But also, damn, that's kind of weird.
00:59:05
Speaker 1: But also, damn, did Macon know she was going there and use this as an opportunity to kill her? And then if he did, why? So what was the reason behind it? Especially when she was like, yeah, so you're going to leave? He was like, not a chance. And then they left, so.
00:59:19
Speaker 2: Yeah, I was looking at it like, why would Macon put a hit on his own wife unless it was to confirm something that he was already, you know, thinking? Um, Because now at this point, I don't know how sane or insane Will Macon is. And based off this episode, it's kind of like, all right, but he may be a little bit more crazy than I thought. Which makes the show, I guess, a little more interesting, of course. But after being surprised that they were being tracked by satellites, we see Hal and John head to meet Hector Hammond, who is, I believe, the owner of Atlas Inc., which is the company that made the satellite that killed or that tried to kill Zoey. Ken, what did you think of the conversation they had in the car heading there?
01:00:11
Speaker 1: It was an interesting conversation because now I'm wondering if Hal was doing the thing to him when he was like, yeah, man, hey, man, you good?
01:00:23
Speaker 4: I know the.
01:00:25
Speaker 1: Girl just was blowing up and all the other good stuff. So, I mean, how you feel about that? So now the way he was asking, and it seemed like he was really kind of curious about his, his like wellbeing. And, um, you know, John was just like, yeah, I mean, it is what it is, but I'm one, I was wondering, I was like, Oh, is this him trying to do what Sinestro kind of told him to do? Like start to build a rapport and a bond and a trust with him.
01:00:57
Speaker 4: To use against him later on.
01:01:00
Speaker 3: That's how you took it too, Jalen?
01:01:03
Speaker 4: Pretty much.
01:01:05
Speaker 8: I didn't believe the switch click exactly for Kyle as far as I can for John like that. Especially with the way he taught Sinestro about how he basically getting replaced. So I don't think he really cared. Because he didn't care about her. You know what I'm saying? I didn't have any draw of Hollis asking these questions because he genuinely cares about John at all. It was more so just beginning to plant those seeds that we heard from Sinestro. And after everything that already had went on, I definitely felt that John still wasn't in a space to be open with him either. So it didn't feel like the relationship was actually growing in that sense. It just felt like John just had a, a connection with Hal, but Hal was just doing his job. He didn't, he doesn't care as much about, um, Hal doesn't care that much about.
01:02:03
Speaker 4: John at all.
01:02:04
Speaker 5: Yeah.
01:02:05
Speaker 2: To that point, Lou, for me watching this episode a second time, I kind of picked up on some things and I felt like, cause John says, bro, Hal, you never asked me how I'm doing or anything. Like this is the first time you ever asked me that. And I was wondering, I was like, to Ken's point, I was like, Oh, this is him. Like, really taking on Sinestro's advice, but I was also thinking, like, mate, hold on, the second time watching this, like, was he just really trying to set him up for how we end? Like, trying to make sure, you know how a woman will ask you one question, ask you 500 questions in between that, and then come back to that one question again? This, like, on some cop shit, like, I feel like that's what he's doing. I don't know if that's something that you caught as well.
01:02:44
Speaker 5: I definitely picked up on it because it didn't, he didn't care about that lady, like Jayden said. He was more so trying to play his hand on, okay, how can I move the chessboard a little bit and do what you said in the sense of asking these questions, asking these questions.
01:03:01
Speaker 7: Then at the end, we play it back. So yeah, I never thought that he gave a fuck about John.
01:03:07
Speaker 4: I thought he.
01:03:08
Speaker 2: A part of me kind of thought he did to a certain extent just because, again, that conversation they had in the tunnel where he was like, he was.
01:03:13
Speaker 3: Telling him about some real stuff about his family. I'm not sure. And then he.
01:03:18
Speaker 2: He mentioned in the car, he was like, bro, it's easy if you do this job and you don't have no attachments. He said it's a lonely fucking job. But I think that was the most honest advice he was giving John. Regardless, I don't think he was looking at him like, this guy's a replacement or anything. I would tell anybody who does this job, any Green Lantern. And he also mentioned how he don't talk to the other Green Lanterns. He was like, bro, one of them is Squirrel. They don't give a fuck about me. It's just me. He has no camaraderie with his fellow cops. He don't got nobody that loves him on earth. And his own family is gone. It's a lonely, like, John may be the only friend that he got at this point. And friend is obviously a loose word.
01:04:00
Speaker 8: I was about to say, if that's the case, then you really fucked up because John ain't a friend, nigga.
01:04:06
Speaker 3: That's how I be though, Jalen. You know what I'm saying?
01:04:09
Speaker 2: You don't get stabbed in the back by your enemy.
01:04:11
Speaker 3: It's mostly the people that you cool with.
01:04:14
Speaker 1: You know, I think to your point about because it seemed like John Howe got emotional, like he was thinking about a loss that we don't know about. And, you know, how does have a, you know, a significant other, a woman or a girlfriend that he used to date as well, you know.
01:04:34
Speaker 4: In the in the comics.
01:04:35
Speaker 1: So when he said that, I was I was thinking about that as well in the back of my mind.
01:04:44
Speaker 4: But, yeah, that felt like, I'm with you, Nick.
01:04:46
Speaker 1: It felt like that was the realest he's been with John this whole time. And that when he said that, he was thinking about something that happened in his past.
01:04:56
Speaker 2: Well, their bonding moment went away real quick. But first, we're going to get to the conversation we had with Hector. What was your thoughts when they got into the building of Atlas Inc. and the people that was working there, the shit that they saw?
01:05:12
Speaker 3: Lou, what was running through your mind?
01:05:16
Speaker 4: Um, it's what a cow was, right?
01:05:19
Speaker 5: They did the thing with the cow.
01:05:24
Speaker 4: I wasn't sure, to be honest with you.
01:05:25
Speaker 5: I just was wondering what was going on with how they was butchering the cows. Did they see them? They was acting like they didn't see them. So that was a thing for me that way. If they did see them, they didn't care that they was in there. So why didn't they care that they was in there? So I was really confused as to what was going on here. And with the cow shitting and butchering the cow with just lasers, that was interesting, too. So it didn't fit in the sense of, OK, this is where the story is taking me. But it was interesting in a sense of, OK, where the fuck are we going? I did think I was in a different show, Ken.
01:05:57
Speaker 2: I was just like, I was like, did we, is this, is this where we go to the real superhero?
01:06:02
Speaker 3: I know Lou was worried. Like, oh shit, they lost me.
01:06:06
Speaker 6: Yeah.
01:06:07
Speaker 5: It was bothering me to people act like they didn't see them.
01:06:12
Speaker 1: And I was like, and I still don't know what, what was up with that.
01:06:18
Speaker 4: Um, but the, the.
01:06:22
Speaker 1: Thing with the cow though, that shit was brutal. It was efficient, a little messy, but it was brutal as fuck. And I like when he said, this is why I'm vegan. But I also wonder if the cow even felt that shit or if it was just over.
01:06:37
Speaker 3: I think it was probably like a gunshot to the head.
01:06:39
Speaker 2: Like, I think it's just, if you did feel pain, it's for a quick second and it's already over.
01:06:47
Speaker 4: Yeah, well, that was brutal shit. I don't know why they put that shit in there.
01:06:50
Speaker 3: Oh, no, I'm sorry.
01:06:52
Speaker 4: No, that was it. That was it. Yeah, I'm good.
01:06:54
Speaker 2: Jay, what caught my eye was the pocket dimension thing. Like, you know, I remember in the last episode when he went to his interview, cuz dropped.
01:07:02
Speaker 3: That black ball or whatever.
01:07:03
Speaker 2: It looked like cement. And then it just kind of landed and flattened out. It was the same kind of thing that they use for the cows. And Hal was like, oh, yeah, this is where the cows are going. And it feels to me, it felt very familiar. Like, this is some Green Lantern technology. Or something that is connected to us more than just like, oh, this is just some random guy collecting random intergalactic weapons and shit like that.
01:07:29
Speaker 8: Yeah, I'm more in the camp of it didn't make sense in the moment, but I know it's going to come back up because the pocket.
01:07:36
Speaker 6: Dimension has been.
01:07:40
Speaker 8: Used in every episode at this point, except for the first episode. Because remember, the lantern was, matter of fact, that was the first episode. No, the second episode when the lantern was hidden. The hidden was in the pocket dimension. They interviewed the pocket dimension and now the cow coming out the pocket dimension. Obviously, it's a thing in this universe in general. So I was just like, all right, it's going to come back up why the cow specifically, why this is specifically happening, why it was a slaughterhouse. All that is going to matter to the man hunters or whatever else is going on. But yeah, it didn't really bother me too much to not have the answers for me right away for this part. Now, if the cows show up again next episode and, like, I don't know. It depends how it was presented to me. It could get a little annoying not knowing what's going on. But right now, I'm good just having, like, all right, in the back of my mind, there's something going on with the cows or just something going on with these pocket dimensions.
01:08:36
Speaker 2: And in that same episode of Justice League, I was telling you about, Jay, where we find out about John's original trainer, They do mention the pocket mentions because they're looking for his lantern. They go to his apartment. So pocket mentions is like, that's just comic book lore as well. Lou, I got to get your thoughts on the scene of wood hector and did you not laugh hysterically how everything unfolded bro that shit was crazy but when i rewatched it it's funny as hell.
01:09:09
Speaker 5: It was, to John's point, Hal had the privilege of being like, shit, I don't really care if it's your parents or not.
01:09:17
Speaker 7: He did the classic white man thing.
01:09:19
Speaker 4: In that scenario.
01:09:20
Speaker 5: It's like, He didn't really know, but he wasn't really worried about it either.
01:09:26
Speaker 4: And John was like, bro, that was my parents. Like, you could have killed him.
01:09:29
Speaker 3: But Lou, he was like, after he heard the recording, that's how he felt. Before that, he was like, hey, I actually fucked with him.
01:09:36
Speaker 2: But then after I heard this nigga talking shit, bro, imagine hearing somebody talk cash shit about you to your boss.
01:09:44
Speaker 3: And your boss agreeing with it. And they just cattying.
01:09:47
Speaker 6: And now you're in the moment.
01:09:48
Speaker 4: And now you're in the moment.
01:09:50
Speaker 6: On top of that, you already know your job on the line. Like, you already know that you almost getting fired.
01:09:58
Speaker 8: And then you hear this nigga say, like, you on probation at your job. And this nigga talking shit about you being on probation to your boss.
01:10:06
Speaker 6: And they trying to be your homie after that. Yeah, I'll be mad as fuck, too, dog.
01:10:10
Speaker 2: He talked to your boss some awesome years. Y'all find him on Friday. And today's Thursday.
01:10:14
Speaker 3: I'm like, yeah, I'm not helping you for shit.
01:10:21
Speaker 2: You and them fake-ass huxtables that raised you. That's what he called them.
01:10:26
Speaker 1: Yeah, that shit was volatile by them. But Ken, for me, the hilarious part was Hector, real.
01:10:33
Speaker 3: Perfect, like he the man.
01:10:34
Speaker 2: He talking about some, yeah, if you don't tell me right now, I'm killing this nigga family ASAP. And then John Howell, like, You know what? I actually know how to find out how bad it is. I'm just going to kill you for it.
01:10:46
Speaker 3: My name is Hector Zeroni. Not Zeroni.
01:10:49
Speaker 2: You got to carry that nigga up the hill. He said, I usually just dig holes and shit. I was like, bro, you over here talking to a Greenlander.
01:11:09
Speaker 3: They don't got no respect for Greenlanders, bro.
01:11:11
Speaker 2: No. Talking to a bonafide superhero.
01:11:15
Speaker 3: Like, he ain't shit. Threaten him in them old shit. And you get paid 75.
01:11:19
Speaker 4: Come on. Yeah. Nah, that shit was fun.
01:11:23
Speaker 1: But he definitely ratted out real quick when it got real.
01:11:28
Speaker 4: He was like, what color is that? I'm a sir. I don't know. It was a long time ago. I don't know if I'm supposed to remember that shit.
01:11:34
Speaker 3: Did he just say that?
01:11:36
Speaker 4: He's an alien.
01:11:37
Speaker 3: He call him an alien.
01:11:39
Speaker 4: What color is aliens? Oh, man.
01:11:54
Speaker 2: Yeah, nah, how was, hey, how was on with this episode, bruh? That's why I really like this episode, because it started off really good, then it kind of dipped a little bit when they was doing, like, the Scooby-Doo shit. But then, like, once this part came, like, once he played, he was like, oh, yeah, bro, not only do we got satellites above y'all, we got, you know we got y'all bugs. Like, y'all in a shitty-ass motel, you don't think we got this place bugged?
01:12:17
Speaker 3: When he hit play on that motherfucker, hey, bruh, that's... John was like.
01:12:21
Speaker 4: John was just like.
01:12:24
Speaker 3: It wasn't his voice. Hey, Lou.
01:12:28
Speaker 2: You remember back when they had Mari and they would do them episodes where the nigga would be in the back room talking to the decoy?
01:12:34
Speaker 3: And they would play the tape.
01:12:41
Speaker 2: He go in there talking about some Brian do shit, bruh. She over here tripping, all that stuff. They were like, play the tape. Oh, I didn't know y'all had tape. Like, y'all was salty, bruh. That shit, bruh.
01:12:55
Speaker 3: That was funny, too.
01:13:01
Speaker 2: Nah, I can't blame, again, I'm usually not this lenient with white folks, but the way that they, the situation Hal was in, I can't say I would do anything different, Ken.
01:13:17
Speaker 4: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
01:13:20
Speaker 1: Nah, I feel him. I feel him because Hal is, is about getting the job done. He's, he's, he's on some Malcolm X shit by any means necessary. And if that's what it takes, that's what it takes. And, uh, especially after you already heard, none of that shit matter. I don't give a fuck about any of that shit right now.
01:13:42
Speaker 6: Exactly.
01:13:42
Speaker 4: Because you ain't loyal anyway.
01:13:45
Speaker 6: Exactly.
01:13:45
Speaker 3: And Lou, that's what he kind of mentioned.
01:13:48
Speaker 2: I think when he had a conversation with Sinestro, he was just like, like, I'm experienced. I, like, he said, people look at it as old.
01:14:00
Speaker 3: I look at it as experienced. I've done the job enough. I can peep things.
01:14:03
Speaker 2: The way Hal worked this room, again, like, Mostly this episode, John was like the main investigator, the one giving all the clues. But the way Hal is able to break down people when it comes to interpersonal, like how to get those interrogations going and stuff.
01:14:17
Speaker 3: Bruh, it's a masterclass.
01:14:19
Speaker 7: That's what he excels at.
01:14:21
Speaker 8: Yeah.
01:14:23
Speaker 2: Yeah, so I took that as like, all right, this is why I really like this show and this dynamic. But we then see Hal and John head back to Rushville. They have an awkward-ass car ride home and some honest conversation.
01:14:38
Speaker 3: Lou, what did you think about how this episode ended?
01:14:43
Speaker 4: With him wrecking the car.
01:14:45
Speaker 5: I think there's a callback to one of the scenes in the preview, maybe episode one?
01:14:50
Speaker 2: Yeah.
01:14:51
Speaker 5: He jumped out of the car and did the same thing. So, a reoccurring theme. I did notice that part of it. And what It was leading to for the second half of the season. They own this kind of like, are they beefing? Are they not beefing? Are they playing this whole thing because they know people are listening to them now? Like, it's just it's an interesting place to have left this last episode going into the second part of the season.
01:15:13
Speaker 4: And I'm intrigued. So I'm here for.
01:15:18
Speaker 2: It.
01:15:19
Speaker 4: Yeah. Yeah.
01:15:22
Speaker 3: Did you notice that John lied to Hal?
01:15:27
Speaker 4: Yeah, he sounded weird when he said it.
01:15:33
Speaker 1: And I rewound this back a few times too because I had to figure out who he was talking about.
01:15:39
Speaker 4: Me too. Because I didn't know.
01:15:41
Speaker 1: The way Spike and Jalen picked up who had to drop off because he had to run for people listening. But when he said it, I thought he was talking about the sheriff. So when it turned out to be Oh, girl, I was like, one, it made sense because she was the one that was killed. But two, the way he, as Spike was saying, the way he can read every fucking body member. This motherfucker is really great at his fucking job. I think at the end of the day, when all this went down, I was like, this man know exactly what the fuck he doing.
01:16:15
Speaker 4: And he picked up on that shit.
01:16:17
Speaker 1: And every single thing he asked, every question has some motive to it. Everything he says, he is the perfect white guy. That's just going to sit around or perfect person that I'm just going to sit around and I'm going to just sit here and goof around and joke with you.
01:16:33
Speaker 4: I'm going to let you get your guard completely down.
01:16:37
Speaker 1: But this whole time, i'm probing you and finding out what i need to know from you and then just use it later against you and that's what he did he didn't care about that shit from earlier it was him trying to figure out some shit he was investigating and the way he used that shit against it was like god dang he was like man yeah you know what he said yeah i did believe you you know but yeah this shit was great i.
01:17:01
Speaker 3: Took it twofold one um He said, he sounded so sincere.
01:17:08
Speaker 2: He was like, because when John answered him, because the first time I watched, I was like, I didn't understand how it went from zero to 60, literally. But when John answered, when I watched the second time, John answered him, he was like, yeah, it must have been, it must have been like they said, we'll make it.
01:17:20
Speaker 3: And he could tell he was lying based on how he answered it.
01:17:23
Speaker 2: He was like, bro, I thought I, he said, he said, I actually really did forgive you. Like, I'm not, I wasn't bullshitting, but I actually really did forgive you. And I thought you would be honest with me. But I can see now that we like, Because I think he was like, let's bygones be bygones. I was told some shit about Sinestro that you probably found out. You was told some shit about the Guardians. Now we both found out everything. Now we can start from scratch. But then when we start from scratch and you're still lying, it's like, bro, I can't... I can't have you on this mission with me.
01:17:52
Speaker 3: You literally are not.
01:17:54
Speaker 2: Up until that point, we could have had a good buddy cop relationship, but now I can't. And so I really liked how sincere he was and how quickly he was able to to dissect this and like, and like really just break down, John.
01:18:08
Speaker 3: Um, and two is like, John, bro, drive you. This is your rental. Why are you not driving?
01:18:14
Speaker 2: Anytime you were in a car, you're not the one driving. Don't they tell you that when they, when you leave the counter at the rent-a-car place, you're supposed.
01:18:24
Speaker 3: To be the one driving. He loved being passenger princess. That's what it gives me. So, and he look at he got him fucked up twice first time.
01:18:36
Speaker 2: Shame on you second time shame on me shame on me exactly i'll write out on him yeah but i really just um yeah i was really just great in this scene bro like bro kyle chandler i hate bro like every show he's in he always want to get killed off I hate like we not it's his thing like he just it's a great thing to have because you can just bounce around from project to project but like facts but bro when you do when you like bro he is putting his foot in this because this is again Lou this is not a Hal Jordan like character from the comics like this is not how he normally like he's known as an asshole and he is kind of racist from what but he's not in this way it's kind of like how robert downey changed tony stark for how we look at him like in the comics before and after so it's he's really embodying this character and like the way he's able to make sincere faces and then like switch it on a dime like it's it's crazy him rolling out that car, that shit was, that car.
01:19:37
Speaker 3: I was like, bro, this shit.
01:19:38
Speaker 4: Like, woo! Like, God damn it, bro. He loved doing that shit.
01:19:42
Speaker 3: That shit was crazy.
01:19:43
Speaker 1: Your brother said, all the way back to the first episode.
01:19:50
Speaker 2: Bro, and he, bro, wrapped that motherfucker around the pole too.
01:19:54
Speaker 3: Pause. Like, you know what I'm saying? I'm like, bro, this show is.
01:19:59
Speaker 2: Like, after the end of this episode, I'm like, bro, I'm locked in, bro.
01:20:04
Speaker 3: This is probably the most locked-in show I've been in since maybe House of the Dragon.
01:20:07
Speaker 1: It's appointment television with this one. It's like 9 o'clock coming now. How the hell is what's going to happen to John? What's going to happen to their relationship that's fractured now? And what I will say is when whole boy said it's Hector making or whatever, I mean, Will making, both of them knew he was lying.
01:20:33
Speaker 4: I knew he was lying.
01:20:34
Speaker 1: I just didn't know it was the sexy grandma or whatever you call her. But yeah, I just don't know. I don't understand why John... Just didn't tell the truth. That's the part I didn't get.
01:20:47
Speaker 6: Because it's that good, Ken.
01:20:49
Speaker 3: It's that good, bro.
01:20:51
Speaker 2: He was like, you know how you leave a door over here? You leave a backdoor pilot.
01:20:59
Speaker 3: You got to leave a room for a spinoff, kid.
01:21:03
Speaker 4: But you know what, though? I'm thinking back to that hotel scene.
01:21:07
Speaker 1: That whole scene was edited a little weird. So there was some conversation we did not see. Remember it jumped from them in the bed to them sitting at the doorway to her getting in the car. There was some stuff that was cut out that we, I think they cut some stuff out and I think we'll get that the next episode. Because him just not telling the truth was odd and I didn't get it. But I'm with you guys. Nick, especially with him giving how his own personality is definitely different than any that I've seen, you know, that we've seen so far, especially with, like, what we've seen in the animated series.
01:21:53
Speaker 4: And we're reading comics. We're making shit up in our head.
01:21:55
Speaker 1: But even just the little mannerism that he does and the way he kind of has, like, a run-on sentence, and he shifts from one to the other when he was talking about, like, when they were on the tile, he was like, did you care about me or miss me, Junior? Like, the way he kind of go in and out of that shit is cool. Or sometimes he's really dead pain. It was like, did you just make a joke? Like, it's a lot of different personality types in that thing. You can never get a read on it. And that's how John, once again, couldn't see what was happening because he goes in and out. Because he was dead-ass serious in this episode. He wasn't even joking around. He was, like, serious. And then he was just like, But then just like that, he was like, he jumped back into the playful mode. He was like, yeah, sorry about the rental and smiled and then jumped out the car.
01:22:47
Speaker 2: And the thing is, though, again, I'm again, I'm not this kind of white folks, but it's on John. Like, bro, why does this woman or this manhunter have you? Like you over here doing like you're breaking all the rules, like literally breaking all the rules, all your rules. You're right there at the finish line to get this ring, the thing you've been working for, and you're risking it for this alien being that is causing you more harm than good at this point because you're in a car crash.
01:23:19
Speaker 3: Two of them.
01:23:20
Speaker 2: Well, the first one ain't really got nothing to do with this, but the second one does. It's like, bruh, what is going on?
01:23:27
Speaker 3: And Lou, we're going to.
01:23:28
Speaker 4: Have to find out.
01:23:28
Speaker 2: We're going to find out if this Manhunter is actually in woman form or.
01:23:33
Speaker 3: Whatever form it is. We may have to have an A.O. conversation next week.
01:23:39
Speaker 4: That's the other shit I want to see.
01:23:41
Speaker 3: Because we don't know the true form of this manhunting.
01:23:44
Speaker 4: It is true. I just not thought about that when.
01:23:47
Speaker 6: You said that.
01:23:49
Speaker 3: I was on the East Coast for a while. You know, the.
01:23:52
Speaker 2: Island boys, the Caribbean people, they call them gal hunters. They don't say no man.
01:23:57
Speaker 3: They don't man hunters. Gal hunters. Little know what I'm talking about.
01:24:07
Speaker 2: But yeah, any other thoughts on this episode? Do y'all think Hal actually trying to kill John? Or was this more of just like, I got to take him out so I can go do my own thing?
01:24:16
Speaker 4: I think it's a setup for another plan down the road. I don't know what it is, though. Same here. Yeah, I.
01:24:28
Speaker 2: He did start off this episode, at least Hal did, saying that he doesn't want to... He's like, just because I don't like him doesn't mean I want to kill him. but that shit changed when you hear how they talk about you behind those doors. But, um, I don't think he's, I don't think he's trying to kill. I think he's just trying to injure him. Like, like make sure that he doesn't follow him to this next part of the mission. I think he's like, this is why I'm gonna drop you off.
01:24:48
Speaker 4: Literally. Yeah.
01:24:50
Speaker 1: He's, he's a risk now to the mission, you know, because he's, uh, cause that's the other thing as we're closing out, it's like, he basically said that John was a weak point. Cause that's what he said. He said, these things are ruthless. And this is what they do. They find the weakness and they exploit it. And he basically said John and all of his forever, everything that he's been trained up for, he was bragging to the guardians about, became weak in this moment and he's been exploited.
01:25:17
Speaker 4: And he doesn't realize that. At least that's what it seems to us. Agreed. All right.
01:25:27
Speaker 2: Well, those are our thoughts on this week's episode of Lanterns. Please let us know what you guys think. FPS Podcast is the Reddit thread. That's also our handle for IG and Twitter. And we'll catch you on the next week's episode.
01:25:38
Speaker 6: We out.
01:25:39
Speaker 4: Peace.

Agreed. All right.
01:25:27
