OM DETTA AVSNITT
What if one of the most powerful tools for sharing the Gospel isn’t a sermon, a stage, or a social media post, but simply opening your life to someone else?
In this episode of eXchanging Eternal Truths, author Heather Lancaster sits down with Bill and Debi McCleary of Grace Sanctuary of Hospitality in Yuma, AZ, to explore the biblical foundation of hospitality and why it may be one of the most overlooked ministries in the Church today. Through personal stories, practical examples, and scriptural truth, they reveal how genuine love and intentional relationships create opportunities for discipleship, encouragement, and sharing the hope of Christ.
Bill and Debi share how God led them to open their home each week for fellowship meals, creating a welcoming environment where people from all backgrounds can connect, build relationships, and experience the love of God. The conversation challenges believers to move beyond isolation, embrace their identity in Christ, and recognize that hospitality is far more than entertaining guests. It is a lifestyle of putting others first and allowing the light of Jesus to shine through everyday interactions.
They discuss:
- What biblical hospitality is, and how it differs from simple entertaining
- Why relationships often open doors to the Gospel more effectively than programs
- How modern culture encourages isolation and why believers must intentionally pursue connection
- The role of identity in Christ and understanding God’s unconditional love
- Practical ways believers can share the love of Jesus through everyday encounters
The heart of this conversation is a reminder that hospitality begins with understanding how deeply God loves us. When we recognize that we are fully accepted and loved by Him, we become free to extend that same love to others. Whether through opening our homes, listening to someone’s story, offering encouragement, or simply acknowledging a stranger, every act of hospitality can become an opportunity for the Holy Spirit to work. As Bill and Debi emphasize, hospitality is not merely a gift for a select few; it is a biblical calling for every believer.
Key Scriptures:
- 1 Corinthians 13 — Love as the foundation of Christian living and hospitality
- Romans 12:2 — Renewing our minds and refusing to conform to the world’s ways
- Romans 8:38-39 — Nothing can separate us from the love of God
- Ephesians 2:6 — Believers are seated with Christ in heavenly places
- Hebrews 13:8 — Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever
- John 4:13-14 — Jesus offers living water that satisfies forever
- Matthew 5:13-16 — Believers are called to be salt and light in the world
Hospitality is ultimately an expression of God’s love in action. When believers choose to see people the way God sees them, barriers begin to fall, relationships grow, and hearts become open to the Gospel. Every conversation, every shared meal, and every act of kindness becomes an opportunity to point someone toward the Father who loves them unconditionally. As this episode reminds us, sometimes the most powerful ministry begins with a simple greeting, an open door, and a willing heart.
