In this episode of The Second with Scott McEwen, hosts Dave Stall and Scott McEwen are joined by USCCA representative Adam Bendis for a wide-ranging conversation about the Second Amendment, individual rights, government power, and the importance of being prepared before an emergency happens. The discussion examines the hosts’ view of why the founders placed the Second Amendment immediately after protections for speech, religion, and assembly, and why they believe an armed citizenry remains an important safeguard for constitutional freedoms.
The conversation looks back at the COVID era and the intense public debate surrounding mandates, personal choice, government authority, and civil liberties. Dave, Scott, and Adam discuss how those experiences influenced attitudes toward firearms and personal preparedness, including Adam’s observation that people who had never considered owning a firearm suddenly began asking how to buy one. The hosts also discuss gun-control policies, firearm buyback programs, and their concerns about government restrictions on individual rights.
Adam also highlights the importance of firearm education and responsible training through USCCA, emphasizing that simply owning a gun isn’t enough. The episode discusses USCCA training resources, classes, membership options, legal-defense resources, and educational programs designed to help gun owners better understand both firearms and the laws surrounding them. As Dave stresses during the show, training should be a fundamental part of responsible firearm ownership.
