OM DETTA AVSNITT
Stop talking just to be heard. In this episode, former technologist turned professional speaker AJ breaks down why traditional executive presence is broken and why the future of leadership belongs to those who drop the robotic facade and choose to care. Moving past the superficial "look at me" stage dynamics, Jacinda and AJ dissect the physical and mental shifts required to step off the corporate hamster wheel and optimize for true humanism at work. From reading a room full of hungover executives to breaking the literal physical "box" of corporate body language, this conversation is an unfiltered masterclass in owning your story, taking up space, and creating a genuine ripple effect of impact.
SCENE MAP (Timestamps):
01:07 - The Noise in the Notes: Why the greatest speakers spend an extraordinary amount of time listening, not talking.
02:22 - The Melodic Instrument: Breaking down the vocal range and how corporate trends are killing our natural inflections. 04:47 - The Death of the Ego: AJ shares the exact transition from wanting 300 people to look at him, to measuring success by how he supports the room. 13:58 - The 3-Step Presence Framework: Step-by-step tactics to find where your audience is at, serve them, and accept their pace.
18:47 - The Heart-Centered Differentiator: The critical operational difference between empty pandemic empathy and real, actionable care.
25:48 - The Shoulder-Line Trap: The fascinating physical manifestation of corporate compartmentalization—why executives never raise their hands above their shoulders.
36:04 - Slaughtered in the Lion's Den: The brutal reality of trying to humanize a top-tier Melbourne law firm and getting fired before reaching home.
43:24 - Garbage Industry Advice: Why the standard "speak on every stage" rhetoric will stagnate your career growth. 51:12 - The Video Ref Analogy: Why relying on AI and analytics to pre-read your audience creates a barrier to real-time performance adaptability.
Key Takeaways:
The 3-Step Connection: You must diagnose where the room is, determine how to serve them, and remain entirely at peace with their speed of execution Empathy vs. Active Care: Empathy is just understanding where someone is at; care is the physical action of getting into the trenches with them . Break the Box: Rigid corporate environments condition you to limit your physical range . Embodying authority means breaking out of "robot land" .
