ОБ ЭТОМ ЭПИЗОДЕ
I can’t really say enough just how fun it’s been to get to connect with Brent and Daniela Phillips. You may know them as the owners of a luxury boutique resort located in Burton, Texas, but the road to get there has been truly remarkable.
Today they share their tremendous story of how God’s hand has unmistakably been leading throughout their lives. They are open books with the best sense of humor.
They talk about how they built the farm from the ground up in the most unexpected way, after a devastating turn of events, and then how a near death accident changed everything and proved to be an opportunity for God to display his incredible power toward us.
If, like me, you’ve ever struggled to really grasp the goodness of God and all it means for us as believers in Christ, this episode is a must-listen that will shift your perspective and reframe the way you think about every circumstance that comes your way.
Memorable Quotes:
“God had taken such good care of us our whole lives without money, we lived a beautiful life without money, and the moment I got money, that became my best friend…I knew that money had become my source of trust, and it was gone.” (around 10min)
“No you don’t understand, this was all by mistake.”
“I’ve realized that if you want the best out of me, like my best self, let my family be in trouble, and you will see the very best of me. I will work tirelessly, I will have the best attitude, I will be fearless.”
“This is what I learned when the stock crashed, in every fiber of my being, that God is good. He doesn’t need an outcome to be good. You can have mud and pebbles and he can still be good.”
“I’m enjoying this so much, because it’s like having lost the most precious thing in your life and then re-finding it again. She was lost. And so I didn’t care what form I was getting her back in.”
“And the Lord just showed me how little we need for the things we are chasing. We’re chasing things thinking - and I know we all say, ‘no, no, that doesn’t satisfy’ - but we still do it. I tasted of what true satisfaction was and that took all fear away of losing everything. I was there with nothing, and my happiness and joy and everything was beyond.”
“I wasn’t worried at all, because I guess I had tapped into something I had never known my whole life growing up in church, but just once again, that God is good, and if He is good, well then anything we face, we will find his goodness in, no matter what it is. So it takes the scary part out of all this bad news.”
