Compassion 26

Wesley Broadway, Palmerston North, includes a hymn by John Paisley (d. 1985) who has spent much of his life in a mental institution, is Cherry Farm on edge of Dunedin and now closed. Colin Gibson (d. 2022) has written a hymn to honour a Week for National Chaplaincy. With his own wife spending much of her own life in a wheelchair, Colin was a frequent visitor to the local hospital. His hymn ‘In the name of Christ’ uses poetry many hospital visitors will respond to: I will offer you, I will offer all/the sacrament of presence/in the busy ward or the lonely place/I will hold you in remembrance.
A programme of church news, guests, and a variety of music hosted by John Thornley on behalf of the Wesley Methodist Church on Broadway in Palmerston North, produced by Manawatū People's Radio with the support of New Zealand On Air.
