1
00:00:00,160 --> 00:00:00,659
1.
2
00:00:02,960 --> 00:00:07,700
Welcome back to another episode of TNT Healthy
Families and conscious choices.
3
00:00:08,244 --> 00:00:10,664
Got a reoccurring guest, Mister David here.
4
00:00:11,125 --> 00:00:13,384
We had such a great time on the last one.
5
00:00:13,605 --> 00:00:18,230
Only touch base on some health tips and a bit
of background on them.
6
00:00:18,869 --> 00:00:22,969
And, you know, I think this is gonna be several
episodes.
7
00:00:23,829 --> 00:00:30,625
And we're gonna hear a little bit more about
what David's been doing on his side, currently
8
00:00:30,765 --> 00:00:32,625
with his value in sharing.
9
00:00:33,484 --> 00:00:35,905
Gotta talk about the Patriot's dad's side of
it.
10
00:00:36,710 --> 00:00:41,189
I personally, and I'm sure others, if they
listen to the last one, are gonna wanna hear
11
00:00:41,189 --> 00:00:49,824
more of this militant stranduous, hard, bad
ass, navy seals training that, none of us get
12
00:00:49,824 --> 00:00:54,100
to experience unless we were actually there
doing it ourselves.
13
00:00:54,100 --> 00:01:00,840
And I can only imagine the physical mental
stress that actually solidified and helped you
14
00:01:01,765 --> 00:01:03,864
stand with postured today.
15
00:01:04,644 --> 00:01:09,719
And, again, the patriots dad side of it, I'm
gonna leave it all to you.
16
00:01:09,719 --> 00:01:11,900
So, welcome back, David.
17
00:01:13,000 --> 00:01:16,520
Pleasure to have you back, and I'm sure this
will be a few times.
18
00:01:16,520 --> 00:01:17,400
So I'm pumped.
19
00:01:17,400 --> 00:01:19,414
Let let's chat.
20
00:01:19,954 --> 00:01:22,935
I wanna start off with, let's go navy.
21
00:01:23,554 --> 00:01:26,914
I've always dreamed about being a navy guide,
but then I'm like, oh, wow.
22
00:01:26,914 --> 00:01:28,099
Is that even possible.
23
00:01:28,099 --> 00:01:29,159
Could I do it?
24
00:01:30,739 --> 00:01:39,165
The the challenges and the, all the things
involved, like, I I admire for, the things that
25
00:01:39,165 --> 00:01:43,984
you've accomplished in there and not suitable
for everybody.
26
00:01:44,450 --> 00:01:49,489
But I'm sure it really does build you as the
person and the man you are today.
27
00:01:49,489 --> 00:01:49,989
So
28
00:01:50,450 --> 00:01:50,689
it
29
00:01:50,689 --> 00:01:51,909
sticks here, really.
30
00:01:52,375 --> 00:01:52,614
Yeah.
31
00:01:52,614 --> 00:01:53,094
Absolutely.
32
00:01:53,094 --> 00:01:58,534
I mean, as as I mentioned in your last podcast
on our encouraging commitment, those are core
33
00:01:58,534 --> 00:02:00,555
values instilled me in the navy.
34
00:02:00,694 --> 00:02:00,935
Right?
35
00:02:00,935 --> 00:02:02,659
I know it's interest rate views.
36
00:02:02,659 --> 00:02:04,579
I know it seems like my eyes are closing today.
37
00:02:04,579 --> 00:02:09,194
I've been up so long today, but the these are
these are core values that have just instilling
38
00:02:09,194 --> 00:02:09,435
me.
39
00:02:09,435 --> 00:02:15,594
I had values before that maybe obviously going
in, but it wasn't until I actually joined and
40
00:02:15,594 --> 00:02:19,389
had those kind of assigned that they really
were were able to be solidified.
41
00:02:19,530 --> 00:02:21,689
A lot of times, we have that issue.
42
00:02:21,689 --> 00:02:23,849
We we have these values we have in our head.
43
00:02:23,849 --> 00:02:26,030
We have these thoughts about who we wanna be.
44
00:02:26,104 --> 00:02:30,504
But sometimes we need direction or sometimes we
need a path, you know, drawn out before us.
45
00:02:30,504 --> 00:02:33,164
It's not always easy to just kinda wing it.
46
00:02:33,270 --> 00:02:36,569
Kinda reminds me of a conversation I actually
have with a client in mind.
47
00:02:36,629 --> 00:02:42,240
Literally earlier today, we were talking about,
like, some breathing exercises to help mitigate
48
00:02:42,240 --> 00:02:42,740
stress.
49
00:02:43,305 --> 00:02:47,625
And I was telling about these these exercises
that you can do, these 3 different style
50
00:02:47,625 --> 00:02:48,525
breathing exercises.
51
00:02:48,584 --> 00:02:50,104
There's the diaphragmatic breathing.
52
00:02:50,104 --> 00:02:52,639
There's a 478 and there's the box breeding.
53
00:02:52,639 --> 00:02:57,120
And these three strategies are have been proven
time and time again to reduce stress and
54
00:02:57,120 --> 00:03:02,495
increase, you know, cognitive performance help
with, you know, lung strength, all that good
55
00:03:02,495 --> 00:03:02,995
stuff.
56
00:03:03,215 --> 00:03:04,014
And he had told me.
57
00:03:04,014 --> 00:03:07,454
He said, you know, this is something that that
had kind of been unconsciously doing when I get
58
00:03:07,454 --> 00:03:09,240
stressed out, you know, I take my breaths.
59
00:03:09,240 --> 00:03:10,040
You know, I breathe in.
60
00:03:10,040 --> 00:03:12,120
I breathe out just to calm myself down.
61
00:03:12,120 --> 00:03:13,960
And I asked him, well, how often do you do
this?
62
00:03:13,960 --> 00:03:17,879
He goes, well, you know, every couple of weeks
or if I'm getting super stressed out, I'll do
63
00:03:17,879 --> 00:03:18,425
these things.
64
00:03:18,824 --> 00:03:22,185
And so it's something that you're already
doing, but it wasn't until I gave them that
65
00:03:22,185 --> 00:03:22,685
direction.
66
00:03:22,905 --> 00:03:26,844
I said, hey, these 3 drills, I want you to do
these 3 drills daily.
67
00:03:27,050 --> 00:03:28,430
At least twice a day.
68
00:03:28,650 --> 00:03:28,810
Right?
69
00:03:28,810 --> 00:03:31,310
Because they're not only just trying to
mitigate the stress.
70
00:03:31,449 --> 00:03:33,050
You're also trying to strengthen your lungs.
71
00:03:33,050 --> 00:03:37,875
You're also trying to be mentally focused for
for your day, for your job, for your family,
72
00:03:38,014 --> 00:03:39,314
the people that need you.
73
00:03:39,534 --> 00:03:41,375
And it wasn't until then that he realized,
okay.
74
00:03:41,375 --> 00:03:41,615
You know what?
75
00:03:41,615 --> 00:03:45,250
I have been thinking about these things, but
now that I have a plan of action, you can
76
00:03:45,250 --> 00:03:45,750
prioritize.
77
00:03:45,810 --> 00:03:47,750
The same thing happened with my core values.
78
00:03:47,969 --> 00:03:52,974
I had values before I went into the navy, but
it wasn't totally solidified the honor courage
79
00:03:52,974 --> 00:03:55,395
and commitment where I just really grasped onto
that.
80
00:03:55,455 --> 00:03:58,814
I would encourage anybody out there to, you
know, just have that set of core values.
81
00:03:58,814 --> 00:04:02,469
It doesn't have to be the same as mine It could
be whatever core values you want.
82
00:04:02,469 --> 00:04:02,656
Right?
83
00:04:02,656 --> 00:04:05,270
2, 3, 4, whatever the values that you have.
84
00:04:05,270 --> 00:04:09,245
But once you lock in those values, that's gonna
change you as a person.
85
00:04:09,245 --> 00:04:10,764
Because that's gonna be your guidance.
86
00:04:10,764 --> 00:04:15,324
That's my guidance for how I run my business,
run my coaching, but it's also my guidance for
87
00:04:15,324 --> 00:04:16,785
how I treat my family.
88
00:04:17,220 --> 00:04:20,199
Right, and treat my friends to decisions that I
make.
89
00:04:20,579 --> 00:04:23,620
Since I've had those values, I know when to
shut up.
90
00:04:23,620 --> 00:04:24,899
I know when to speak.
91
00:04:24,899 --> 00:04:25,139
Right?
92
00:04:25,139 --> 00:04:28,774
And I know I know when, how to how to act, how
to behave, what to look for.
93
00:04:28,774 --> 00:04:33,894
I'm more situationally aware, right, more
honest, more have the power to just do the
94
00:04:33,894 --> 00:04:34,560
right thing.
95
00:04:34,560 --> 00:04:34,800
Right?
96
00:04:34,800 --> 00:04:39,439
Not saying I was doing all the wrong things
before, but just having that compass right
97
00:04:39,439 --> 00:04:40,639
there is super important.
98
00:04:40,639 --> 00:04:42,339
And most people just don't have that.
99
00:04:42,454 --> 00:04:45,814
Most people when they don't have that set of
values pointing towards the right the towards
100
00:04:45,814 --> 00:04:50,454
the right direction, they just don't know what
to do when a when a stressful situation arises
101
00:04:50,454 --> 00:04:51,435
because they're like, okay.
102
00:04:51,689 --> 00:04:52,810
What do I do?
103
00:04:52,810 --> 00:04:53,689
I'm a good person.
104
00:04:53,689 --> 00:04:54,649
What should I do?
105
00:04:54,649 --> 00:04:55,870
That's not enough sometimes.
106
00:04:56,089 --> 00:04:58,490
Sometimes you need that honor courage
commitment.
107
00:04:58,490 --> 00:05:00,449
Just kinda rattling off in your brain and
saying, okay.
108
00:05:00,449 --> 00:05:01,384
What would I do?
109
00:05:01,464 --> 00:05:03,725
If I'm if I'm being navigated by those values.
110
00:05:04,504 --> 00:05:05,004
Yeah.
111
00:05:05,145 --> 00:05:06,425
And kids.
112
00:05:06,425 --> 00:05:12,209
So touch base, definitely, fathers, a whole
patriot father.
113
00:05:12,269 --> 00:05:16,884
So what about, how many kids you got?
114
00:05:17,045 --> 00:05:20,025
Like, what how long has your relationship been?
115
00:05:20,165 --> 00:05:24,485
How, because we all know it's all puppy love at
the start.
116
00:05:24,485 --> 00:05:24,725
Right?
117
00:05:24,725 --> 00:05:29,789
And it's all sunshine and rainbows, but it's
not always like that.
118
00:05:29,789 --> 00:05:36,735
So you're you have to carry over a lot of what
you've learned because you're the rock of your
119
00:05:36,735 --> 00:05:37,235
partner.
120
00:05:37,455 --> 00:05:38,995
You're the rockier kids.
121
00:05:39,295 --> 00:05:40,975
You're you're you're the beacon.
122
00:05:40,975 --> 00:05:46,620
It's like even though it's like, you know,
diets busy doing things that they don't always
123
00:05:46,920 --> 00:05:48,300
are a part of or understand.
124
00:05:48,519 --> 00:05:54,535
But at the end of the day, it's like, you show
up and stronghold the situation and kind of
125
00:05:54,535 --> 00:05:55,095
correct it.
126
00:05:55,095 --> 00:06:00,189
So how does that be applied to what you have to
do and what you're going through.
127
00:06:00,189 --> 00:06:00,509
Yeah.
128
00:06:00,509 --> 00:06:04,529
And and you have to have those values applied
to to lead your family to success.
129
00:06:04,750 --> 00:06:05,250
Absolutely.
130
00:06:05,944 --> 00:06:07,464
You need to be there for your family.
131
00:06:07,464 --> 00:06:10,444
It's almost be like a gentle giant.
132
00:06:10,584 --> 00:06:10,824
Right?
133
00:06:10,824 --> 00:06:15,849
You need to have the ability to defend your
family to provide to protect your family, but
134
00:06:15,849 --> 00:06:21,870
at the same time, you know, dish out that that
discipline without it being just a tyrannical
135
00:06:21,930 --> 00:06:22,329
person.
136
00:06:22,329 --> 00:06:22,490
Right?
137
00:06:22,490 --> 00:06:23,550
There's there's a difference.
138
00:06:24,355 --> 00:06:24,855
Yeah.
139
00:06:25,074 --> 00:06:30,055
You know, a man or a dad who's tyrannical and
who's angry and who's just always instructive.
140
00:06:30,915 --> 00:06:34,180
And the dad that's can be constructive at the
same time.
141
00:06:34,660 --> 00:06:34,899
Right?
142
00:06:34,899 --> 00:06:37,479
You need to be able to for the dad's out there
listening.
143
00:06:37,860 --> 00:06:41,300
And, you know, there's there's another man
that's that's said it said it better than me.
144
00:06:41,300 --> 00:06:45,055
I don't know if anybody heard of Jordan
Peterson but you need to be able to be a
145
00:06:45,055 --> 00:06:45,555
monster.
146
00:06:45,854 --> 00:06:46,095
Right?
147
00:06:46,095 --> 00:06:51,935
The difference between a good man and a bad man
is a monster that's the that's able to control
148
00:06:51,935 --> 00:06:52,435
it.
149
00:06:52,600 --> 00:06:53,000
Right?
150
00:06:53,000 --> 00:06:57,420
You need to be able to be a monster and be able
to control those feelings, control those rages.
151
00:06:57,639 --> 00:06:57,879
Right?
152
00:06:57,879 --> 00:07:01,464
But you need to be able to, if need be, rage
out.
153
00:07:01,524 --> 00:07:01,685
Right?
154
00:07:01,685 --> 00:07:02,185
Yep.
155
00:07:02,324 --> 00:07:06,324
Is if you're if you're just completely gentle
and you're you're saying I'm gonna be a
156
00:07:06,324 --> 00:07:10,460
completely gentle person, Well, if it hits the
fan, you're not gonna know what to do and your
157
00:07:10,460 --> 00:07:12,460
family aren't isn't gonna be able to depend on
you.
158
00:07:12,460 --> 00:07:16,620
I want my family to to be able to depend on me,
and that's why I have those core values to do
159
00:07:16,620 --> 00:07:17,439
the right thing.
160
00:07:17,714 --> 00:07:20,274
I'm not gonna say it was all sunshine and
rainbows my whole life.
161
00:07:20,274 --> 00:07:23,654
I know you wanted me to touch, you know, kind
of on that on that navy career.
162
00:07:23,714 --> 00:07:25,175
It wasn't a very long career.
163
00:07:25,529 --> 00:07:26,009
At all.
164
00:07:26,009 --> 00:07:27,050
It wasn't very long at all.
165
00:07:27,050 --> 00:07:29,689
I went through the budstrating to go be a navy
seal.
166
00:07:29,689 --> 00:07:33,069
And, unfortunately, when I was twenty five
years old, I had a stroke.
167
00:07:33,185 --> 00:07:34,884
While I was going through that training.
168
00:07:35,185 --> 00:07:35,345
Right?
169
00:07:35,345 --> 00:07:39,024
And that stroke actually rolled me out of the
training, so I didn't get the pin on the
170
00:07:39,024 --> 00:07:39,524
Trident.
171
00:07:39,584 --> 00:07:43,879
Now one of the that was one of the most you
know, devastating things that have happened in
172
00:07:43,879 --> 00:07:49,250
my life, one of the most stressful things, the
thing that actually turned me from wanting to
173
00:07:49,250 --> 00:07:52,365
succeed to wanting to fall into boost.
174
00:07:52,425 --> 00:07:52,665
Right?
175
00:07:52,665 --> 00:07:55,084
There was a very trying time in my life.
176
00:07:55,384 --> 00:07:55,625
Right?
177
00:07:55,625 --> 00:07:58,204
I I was about to quit everything.
178
00:07:58,789 --> 00:07:59,930
Literally everything.
179
00:08:00,470 --> 00:08:00,789
Right?
180
00:08:00,789 --> 00:08:03,509
Because I had trained for years for years.
181
00:08:03,509 --> 00:08:06,169
My dad was on the SWAT team since I was a
little kid.
182
00:08:06,314 --> 00:08:07,435
Was out in the gun range.
183
00:08:07,435 --> 00:08:08,555
I was out doing jujitsu.
184
00:08:08,555 --> 00:08:09,935
I was out doing this stuff.
185
00:08:10,475 --> 00:08:14,955
But when it came to that and I was finally at
the point where like, hey, you know what?
186
00:08:14,955 --> 00:08:16,209
I'm gonna I'm gonna do this.
187
00:08:16,209 --> 00:08:17,649
Gonna be the best of the best.
188
00:08:17,649 --> 00:08:18,930
Train super hard for it.
189
00:08:18,930 --> 00:08:20,289
Be at the top of my class.
190
00:08:20,289 --> 00:08:20,789
Awesome.
191
00:08:21,169 --> 00:08:23,089
I was up there on top with running swimming.
192
00:08:23,089 --> 00:08:23,944
Not so much.
193
00:08:24,985 --> 00:08:29,464
You know, it is it's actually funny because
when I swim without flippers, like, just our
194
00:08:29,464 --> 00:08:33,384
freestyle swimming, I was I was up front of the
pack, but when I put flippers on, I don't know
195
00:08:33,384 --> 00:08:33,929
what it is.
196
00:08:34,089 --> 00:08:34,943
Fins don't work for me.
197
00:08:34,943 --> 00:08:38,730
I it was actually not until I got out and got
my personal training certification that I
198
00:08:38,730 --> 00:08:42,065
realized that my feet pronate, and that's had
something to do with it.
199
00:08:42,065 --> 00:08:45,285
But anyways, I'm kinda rambling and going off
topic there.
200
00:08:45,345 --> 00:08:49,524
The point is I trained so hard for something
that I thought was going to be my life.
201
00:08:49,929 --> 00:08:50,250
Right?
202
00:08:50,250 --> 00:08:52,269
And it was taken away from me.
203
00:08:52,409 --> 00:08:59,204
And it wasn't till I actually, you know, got
married and had my kids that I realized This is
204
00:08:59,204 --> 00:09:00,424
what I was built for.
205
00:09:00,725 --> 00:09:02,824
This is what I've been training for all along.
206
00:09:02,964 --> 00:09:06,345
I wasn't training to be a badass navy seal.
207
00:09:06,720 --> 00:09:07,940
Like I thought it was.
208
00:09:08,160 --> 00:09:13,120
I wasn't trained to be, you know, some some
rock out there, go that the government can
209
00:09:13,120 --> 00:09:17,695
point me to and say, hey, destroy that village
Oh, that that's not what I was training for.
210
00:09:17,835 --> 00:09:21,054
I was training to be the husband and father
that I am today.
211
00:09:21,195 --> 00:09:22,575
That's what I'm training for.
212
00:09:22,670 --> 00:09:27,710
And that's why how I'm able to set aside those
times for them, but also set side times for the
213
00:09:27,710 --> 00:09:29,995
things that are also important to provide for
them.
214
00:09:30,394 --> 00:09:32,714
Being well rounded as a father is super
important.
215
00:09:32,714 --> 00:09:34,634
There's a lot of dads that I've talked to out
there.
216
00:09:34,634 --> 00:09:38,875
It's like, you know, my family comes first, so
that's why I'm away from my family all the
217
00:09:38,875 --> 00:09:39,375
time.
218
00:09:39,409 --> 00:09:40,449
Doing all this work.
219
00:09:40,449 --> 00:09:41,409
I feel for you.
220
00:09:41,409 --> 00:09:42,949
I definitely feel for you.
221
00:09:43,329 --> 00:09:49,524
But when you're when you're spending, you know,
60, 70 hours out of your week, away from your
222
00:09:49,524 --> 00:09:54,725
family and you don't have the provision to show
for that, it might be a time where you need to
223
00:09:54,725 --> 00:09:57,309
reevaluate that and start thinking, k.
224
00:09:57,309 --> 00:09:59,330
What can I actually do a little bit better?
225
00:09:59,389 --> 00:10:01,549
What not not saying you're a bad person.
226
00:10:01,549 --> 00:10:01,710
Right?
227
00:10:01,710 --> 00:10:05,470
You're not a bad person for those type of
choices, but start looking at other skills that
228
00:10:05,470 --> 00:10:06,370
you might have.
229
00:10:06,605 --> 00:10:12,125
We live in a time right now where, you know,
side hustles are just a a kind of a thing.
230
00:10:12,125 --> 00:10:15,620
And there's a lot of them out there for people
that they can do it to where they can be able
231
00:10:15,620 --> 00:10:16,580
to provide for their families.
232
00:10:16,580 --> 00:10:17,940
And I'd encourage you guys to do that.
233
00:10:17,940 --> 00:10:22,200
Don't find something that's gonna add
additional, like, 20, 30 hours to your week.
234
00:10:22,580 --> 00:10:24,279
Find something that you can do simply.
235
00:10:24,735 --> 00:10:24,975
Right?
236
00:10:24,975 --> 00:10:30,115
Because part of being well rounded is providing
protecting and leading.
237
00:10:30,815 --> 00:10:31,134
Mhmm.
238
00:10:31,134 --> 00:10:32,975
You need to be able to do all those threes.
239
00:10:32,975 --> 00:10:34,435
I'll I'll I'll three of those things.
240
00:10:34,879 --> 00:10:39,120
If you're just providing and you're spending
hours and hours away from family, where you're
241
00:10:39,120 --> 00:10:44,179
taking yourself away from them to to have the
ability to lead them and protect them.
242
00:10:44,574 --> 00:10:46,274
And those things are super important.
243
00:10:46,574 --> 00:10:46,894
Right?
244
00:10:46,894 --> 00:10:48,115
You lead by example.
245
00:10:48,574 --> 00:10:49,454
Just think about it.
246
00:10:49,454 --> 00:10:52,829
If you're listening to this, I hope it
resonates with somebody I'm not trying to bash
247
00:10:52,829 --> 00:10:53,789
on anybody again.
248
00:10:53,789 --> 00:10:56,429
I want you guys to really just look at
different perspectives.
249
00:10:56,429 --> 00:11:00,394
I always wanna encourage people to look at
their own perspective and someone else's.
250
00:11:00,535 --> 00:11:01,035
Right?
251
00:11:01,174 --> 00:11:04,615
You can give me the middle finger in the in the
if you're watching this or listening to this
252
00:11:04,615 --> 00:11:05,254
and say, no.
253
00:11:05,254 --> 00:11:05,414
No.
254
00:11:05,414 --> 00:11:05,735
You're wrong.
255
00:11:05,735 --> 00:11:06,535
That's totally fine.
256
00:11:06,535 --> 00:11:08,559
I just wanna offer you perspective.
257
00:11:09,419 --> 00:11:17,904
If your idea of leadership to your family is to
show is to is to be away to make that money for
258
00:11:17,904 --> 00:11:22,404
the family so that you can provide for them and
they can eat and have shelter.
259
00:11:22,625 --> 00:11:23,125
Good.
260
00:11:23,904 --> 00:11:25,764
What is that teaching them in the future?
261
00:11:26,299 --> 00:11:28,379
You're you're teaching your children in the
future.
262
00:11:28,379 --> 00:11:33,644
Hey, when you grow up, you also don't get to be
with your family because it's your job to stay
263
00:11:33,644 --> 00:11:34,125
away.
264
00:11:34,125 --> 00:11:36,044
It's your job to not be there.
265
00:11:36,044 --> 00:11:40,464
It's your job to go out and make them money,
which it is your job to provide for them.
266
00:11:40,845 --> 00:11:44,049
But you're also neglecting the leadership
aspect.
267
00:11:44,750 --> 00:11:44,990
Right?
268
00:11:44,990 --> 00:11:47,970
The leadership aspect means you need to also be
present.
269
00:11:48,429 --> 00:11:48,929
Right?
270
00:11:49,465 --> 00:11:52,524
You need to be present there for your family
there with your family.
271
00:11:52,585 --> 00:11:53,785
And it's not easier.
272
00:11:53,785 --> 00:11:54,105
Yeah.
273
00:11:54,105 --> 00:11:55,865
I mean, it's easy said than done.
274
00:11:55,865 --> 00:11:56,184
Right?
275
00:11:56,184 --> 00:11:59,540
Some some people out there you're you're in
this situation.
276
00:11:59,540 --> 00:12:00,899
You may be listening, Merrick, right now.
277
00:12:00,899 --> 00:12:01,540
I was like, well, okay.
278
00:12:01,540 --> 00:12:02,419
Well, how do I do that?
279
00:12:02,419 --> 00:12:05,299
I drive a truck for for 15 to 16 hour days.
280
00:12:05,299 --> 00:12:06,600
So I get it.
281
00:12:06,995 --> 00:12:07,475
I get it.
282
00:12:07,475 --> 00:12:08,675
I totally get it.
283
00:12:08,675 --> 00:12:10,215
I take all these extra shifts.
284
00:12:10,514 --> 00:12:12,274
I I'm working night jobs.
285
00:12:12,274 --> 00:12:14,134
I'm doing all these these other things.
286
00:12:14,549 --> 00:12:16,309
I'm not saying go put your job today.
287
00:12:16,309 --> 00:12:18,090
I'm not saying go put your job tomorrow.
288
00:12:18,470 --> 00:12:22,889
I'm saying take a step back, evaluate, and say,
okay.
289
00:12:23,705 --> 00:12:28,585
What can I actually do that I have the skills
on that will allow me to give the same
290
00:12:28,585 --> 00:12:31,245
provisions to my family, but also give me more
time with them?
291
00:12:31,879 --> 00:12:35,720
That's a hard question for for a lot of people,
especially if you've been driving a truck for
292
00:12:35,720 --> 00:12:40,679
16 years and you're missing birthday parties
and you're missing missing time with with your
293
00:12:40,679 --> 00:12:41,179
family.
294
00:12:41,545 --> 00:12:45,945
That's a that's a hard question to answer
because at the end of the day, in order to
295
00:12:45,945 --> 00:12:51,165
lead, in order to really bring these kids up,
right, you really have to consider, like, hey,
296
00:12:51,610 --> 00:12:54,029
Did I raise them or did somebody else?
297
00:12:54,410 --> 00:12:59,370
Are we living in a time right now where,
really, somebody else is raising raising your
298
00:12:59,370 --> 00:12:59,955
kid is.
299
00:12:59,955 --> 00:13:00,195
Right?
300
00:13:00,195 --> 00:13:04,035
If you're sending them off to school and send
them off to to this and that, day cares boot
301
00:13:04,035 --> 00:13:06,695
camps, and my and my kids, they go to day cares
too.
302
00:13:06,995 --> 00:13:08,294
I got them part time.
303
00:13:08,889 --> 00:13:12,730
In in day care and they see their grandparents
just about every week and they see me every
304
00:13:12,730 --> 00:13:12,889
week.
305
00:13:12,889 --> 00:13:15,389
So they're we we have the structure of, like,
family.
306
00:13:16,164 --> 00:13:20,345
I believe it it takes a village to raise your
kids, and I want that village to be my family.
307
00:13:20,644 --> 00:13:20,965
Right?
308
00:13:20,965 --> 00:13:21,285
Yeah.
309
00:13:21,285 --> 00:13:24,105
So I allow for that to happen so that they can
be with them.
310
00:13:24,350 --> 00:13:27,389
And and be around family, be around the people
that care about them.
311
00:13:27,389 --> 00:13:31,950
We're actually really excited because I I I
decided that we're going to probably end up
312
00:13:31,950 --> 00:13:32,990
homeschooling our kids.
313
00:13:32,990 --> 00:13:36,804
Maybe not you know, this year, it might move on
to the next year.
314
00:13:36,804 --> 00:13:38,725
And I know you asked me, like, how many kids I
got?
315
00:13:38,725 --> 00:13:43,339
I got two little girls, three and five, so one
of them just graduated VPK.
316
00:13:43,339 --> 00:13:45,259
She's going to going to kindergarten next year.
317
00:13:45,259 --> 00:13:48,639
She's excited about it, but we're probably
gonna move to that homeschool situation because
318
00:13:49,024 --> 00:13:52,865
I wanna be the one that kinda controls that
that learning experience for them.
319
00:13:52,865 --> 00:13:53,745
So it was my wife.
320
00:13:53,745 --> 00:13:55,664
Like, we wanna make sure we have that
influence.
321
00:13:55,664 --> 00:14:00,740
We wanna make sure that they have the structure
in order to succeed in the future, but also
322
00:14:01,759 --> 00:14:03,120
spend more time with us.
323
00:14:03,120 --> 00:14:03,620
Right?
324
00:14:03,679 --> 00:14:07,215
It's been a definitely more time with us
because that's super important.
325
00:14:07,434 --> 00:14:10,475
Now not everybody can do what I'm doing and
just work from home.
326
00:14:10,475 --> 00:14:11,375
I get it.
327
00:14:11,409 --> 00:14:15,190
I said, truck drivers out there, night shift
workers, people that are still in the military
328
00:14:15,730 --> 00:14:16,789
and going overseas.
329
00:14:17,009 --> 00:14:21,495
Totally get it, but you need to find those
where you can actually be there and be present
330
00:14:21,495 --> 00:14:24,315
for them because they're gonna remember.
331
00:14:24,454 --> 00:14:26,054
They're gonna remember when they grow up.
332
00:14:26,054 --> 00:14:29,899
They're gonna remember They're the things
they're not gonna remember is, yeah, my dad
333
00:14:29,899 --> 00:14:31,360
kept a roof over my head.
334
00:14:32,220 --> 00:14:32,459
Yeah.
335
00:14:32,459 --> 00:14:37,120
My dad, we all we always had at dinner every
single night because my dad worked.
336
00:14:37,404 --> 00:14:42,524
What they are gonna remember is I I don't
remember eating dinner with my dad more than a
337
00:14:42,524 --> 00:14:43,345
couple times.
338
00:14:43,805 --> 00:14:47,090
I don't I I remember 6 months at a time that my
dad was gone.
339
00:14:47,889 --> 00:14:50,389
Those are the things that they they're gonna
remember in the future.
340
00:14:50,850 --> 00:14:52,930
Those are the things that are gonna stick with
them.
341
00:14:52,930 --> 00:14:57,334
So at the end of the day, it's it's usually the
negative things that we do that people really
342
00:14:57,334 --> 00:14:57,894
remember most.
343
00:14:57,894 --> 00:15:02,794
I don't remember all the positives unless you
make those positive memories stellar.
344
00:15:03,414 --> 00:15:05,834
So I spend as much time as possible with my
kids.
345
00:15:06,379 --> 00:15:06,879
Right?
346
00:15:07,100 --> 00:15:10,220
And it it it's very simple to actually find
these times.
347
00:15:10,220 --> 00:15:12,220
And we think it's it's we can think it's
different.
348
00:15:12,220 --> 00:15:12,879
It's difficult.
349
00:15:13,419 --> 00:15:17,495
So for instance, a loan lot of families out
there and I've talked to a lot of dads about
350
00:15:17,495 --> 00:15:18,954
this who do the same thing.
351
00:15:19,014 --> 00:15:22,774
And I'll ask them what what's your what's your
and I actually even made a post on my on my
352
00:15:22,774 --> 00:15:24,054
profile one time about this.
353
00:15:24,054 --> 00:15:26,139
But how do you spend quality time with your
kids.
354
00:15:26,440 --> 00:15:28,620
And I ask usually my clients as well.
355
00:15:28,679 --> 00:15:33,019
I get a lot of answers that are, like, we just
kinda have TV night together.
356
00:15:33,894 --> 00:15:35,754
Popcorn watching some TV.
357
00:15:36,375 --> 00:15:36,615
Right?
358
00:15:36,615 --> 00:15:40,215
Or I'll just, you know, sit on my chair and
they'll play with their Legos and they'll play
359
00:15:40,215 --> 00:15:43,960
with this, or they'll they'll be playing while
cooking dinner.
360
00:15:43,960 --> 00:15:45,500
That's not the way to do it.
361
00:15:46,440 --> 00:15:48,539
What happens with TV night?
362
00:15:49,879 --> 00:15:50,779
Watch this.
363
00:15:51,399 --> 00:15:52,299
I can't hear.
364
00:15:52,825 --> 00:15:53,625
Calm down.
365
00:15:53,625 --> 00:15:54,845
Everybody be quiet.
366
00:15:54,985 --> 00:15:56,605
That is not quality time.
367
00:15:57,144 --> 00:15:58,345
That is not quality time.
368
00:15:58,345 --> 00:15:58,985
I'll tell you what.
369
00:15:58,985 --> 00:16:02,889
The TV only happens in my house once maybe
twice a week.
370
00:16:02,889 --> 00:16:05,370
They'll get to watch a cartoon, maybe 1 or 2
cartoons.
371
00:16:05,370 --> 00:16:06,190
That's it.
372
00:16:06,330 --> 00:16:07,850
They're not watching it every single day.
373
00:16:07,850 --> 00:16:09,274
They're not watching every single night.
374
00:16:09,274 --> 00:16:12,394
Now, yeah, granted sometimes at the
grandparent's house, they get to watch a little
375
00:16:12,394 --> 00:16:13,055
bit more.
376
00:16:13,514 --> 00:16:18,795
I'm not gonna I've I've said my piece to them a
few times, but I'm not gonna I'm not gonna
377
00:16:18,795 --> 00:16:20,399
fight that bottle, that battle.
378
00:16:20,700 --> 00:16:24,540
What you should be doing to find those more
those times that you can spend with them is
379
00:16:24,540 --> 00:16:27,919
start incorporating healthy things and exciting
things for them.
380
00:16:27,955 --> 00:16:30,934
Instead of TV, I sit down and and play Legos
with them.
381
00:16:30,995 --> 00:16:33,715
I have them come walk the every time I walk the
dog.
382
00:16:33,715 --> 00:16:34,595
They get on their scooters.
383
00:16:34,595 --> 00:16:36,320
They ride around the neighborhood with me.
384
00:16:36,320 --> 00:16:37,519
We go for a long walk.
385
00:16:37,519 --> 00:16:41,759
I'll just take my dog out to the to the corner
and let her pee and poo.
386
00:16:41,759 --> 00:16:44,340
We go around the entire neighborhood and there
are other scooters.
387
00:16:44,825 --> 00:16:45,725
Right and around.
388
00:16:45,865 --> 00:16:47,865
When I'm cooking something, guess what?
389
00:16:47,865 --> 00:16:49,164
They're cooking with me.
390
00:16:49,304 --> 00:16:50,825
They can stir what can be stirred.
391
00:16:50,825 --> 00:16:53,589
They can not but they can open things that can
be open.
392
00:16:53,589 --> 00:16:55,269
They can push buttons on a on a microwave.
393
00:16:55,269 --> 00:16:57,209
They just can't touch sharp and hot.
394
00:16:57,429 --> 00:17:00,009
They're too little to touch touch those 2
things.
395
00:17:00,815 --> 00:17:02,254
They love cooking with me.
396
00:17:02,254 --> 00:17:04,595
And the cool thing is they eat more of their
food.
397
00:17:04,654 --> 00:17:04,894
Right?
398
00:17:04,894 --> 00:17:10,195
Just for those I know for parents out there, if
your kids have a hand in cooking that meal,
399
00:17:10,559 --> 00:17:13,440
they're more likely to eat it because it's
something they created.
400
00:17:13,440 --> 00:17:17,299
We're more likely to consume things that we
created and be proud of things that we created.
401
00:17:18,080 --> 00:17:19,039
Give you another example.
402
00:17:19,039 --> 00:17:19,860
Physical fitness.
403
00:17:20,585 --> 00:17:21,085
Right?
404
00:17:21,225 --> 00:17:24,184
In the mornings and sometimes in afternoons, my
kids work out with me.
405
00:17:24,184 --> 00:17:27,950
They get on my back for push ups, which is very
typical that dad's like to do.
406
00:17:27,950 --> 00:17:29,710
I use a lot of resistance bands.
407
00:17:29,710 --> 00:17:33,869
So my kids, when I'm doing other things other
than push ups, like lap pull downs, bicep
408
00:17:33,869 --> 00:17:35,549
curls, all sorts of stuff.
409
00:17:35,549 --> 00:17:37,724
They're able to engage with too and do the same
thing.
410
00:17:37,724 --> 00:17:39,184
They both know the word exercise.
411
00:17:39,644 --> 00:17:43,644
They don't know exactly what they're doing,
right, if I'm doing some rows or shaking the
412
00:17:43,644 --> 00:17:49,039
bands, but they are associating the healthy
behavior of exercise with fun.
413
00:17:49,500 --> 00:17:54,320
And that's super important because if you're if
you're setting up exercise, it's a negativity
414
00:17:54,460 --> 00:17:58,494
for your kids, which it's gonna be pushed to
them all through school if your kids are still
415
00:17:58,494 --> 00:17:59,154
in school.
416
00:17:59,295 --> 00:18:05,150
I remember, back when I was in high school was
when they start moving physical fitness,
417
00:18:05,150 --> 00:18:07,730
physical education, I think it was 1 year.
418
00:18:08,029 --> 00:18:10,750
And I think it was is it like a semester or
something like that?
419
00:18:10,750 --> 00:18:10,910
No.
420
00:18:10,910 --> 00:18:13,545
I don't I don't know what it is, but don't have
to do it every year.
421
00:18:13,545 --> 00:18:13,704
I'm
422
00:18:13,704 --> 00:18:14,184
not sure.
423
00:18:14,184 --> 00:18:14,664
That's it.
424
00:18:14,664 --> 00:18:15,724
That's all it is.
425
00:18:16,025 --> 00:18:16,505
That's it.
426
00:18:16,505 --> 00:18:18,684
That that sets it up as a huge negative.
427
00:18:18,904 --> 00:18:20,365
Man, I have to do PE.
428
00:18:20,904 --> 00:18:21,884
I have to.
429
00:18:22,039 --> 00:18:25,880
And when you shouldn't be setting that up as a
negative for your kids either at, like, at
430
00:18:25,880 --> 00:18:28,680
home, I have to work out, or do I have to do
this?
431
00:18:28,680 --> 00:18:31,654
You should never pressure them and go out and
go for do a run.
432
00:18:31,654 --> 00:18:32,454
Go out and do this.
433
00:18:32,454 --> 00:18:33,515
Go out and do that.
434
00:18:33,894 --> 00:18:34,714
Make it exciting.
435
00:18:35,095 --> 00:18:36,694
They're not always exercising with me.
436
00:18:36,694 --> 00:18:38,315
Sometimes they don't feel like it.
437
00:18:38,380 --> 00:18:39,500
I'm not gonna pressure them.
438
00:18:39,500 --> 00:18:41,339
I'm not gonna say you have to do this.
439
00:18:41,339 --> 00:18:45,740
But what I am gonna do is look like like I'm
excited about my exercise, and by the way, I am
440
00:18:45,740 --> 00:18:46,859
excited about my exercise.
441
00:18:46,859 --> 00:18:50,865
I who love it, and they're gonna see it as a
positive thing too, and they're gonna be more
442
00:18:50,865 --> 00:18:55,684
inclined to actually perform those activities
and and be athletic in the future as well.
443
00:18:55,859 --> 00:18:58,900
So it's really important that you incorporate
these things with your kids.
444
00:18:58,900 --> 00:19:02,099
So there's just a couple of tips for those of
you out there that are listening that are like,
445
00:19:02,099 --> 00:19:03,174
oh, I don't have time.
446
00:19:03,494 --> 00:19:04,134
I don't have time.
447
00:19:04,134 --> 00:19:04,615
I get home.
448
00:19:04,615 --> 00:19:08,775
It's super late and I gotta cook dinner or, you
know, I gotta exercise and I and there's more
449
00:19:08,775 --> 00:19:09,654
time away from my kids.
450
00:19:09,654 --> 00:19:09,894
No.
451
00:19:09,894 --> 00:19:10,955
Just get them involved.
452
00:19:11,609 --> 00:19:11,769
Right?
453
00:19:11,769 --> 00:19:17,549
If you're if you're out there and your career
isn't body builder or Avengers or supermodel,
454
00:19:17,849 --> 00:19:20,970
don't worry about getting a gym membership and
getting away from your family.
455
00:19:20,970 --> 00:19:25,065
Could off a good set of resistance bands, work
out at home, and train with them.
456
00:19:25,065 --> 00:19:26,184
They're gonna love it.
457
00:19:26,184 --> 00:19:29,244
Get safe equipment depending on how how old
your kids are.
458
00:19:29,609 --> 00:19:30,890
I love my bands.
459
00:19:30,890 --> 00:19:33,049
I can give I've gotten big with my bands.
460
00:19:33,049 --> 00:19:34,410
I mostly use bands and kettabo.
461
00:19:34,410 --> 00:19:35,390
That's all I use.
462
00:19:35,930 --> 00:19:36,890
They love the bands too.
463
00:19:36,890 --> 00:19:37,775
It's safe for them.
464
00:19:37,775 --> 00:19:42,174
I don't take my kettlebells out and and work
out with them when they're out there because I
465
00:19:42,174 --> 00:19:44,674
don't want them to hurt themselves, but we just
use the bands.
466
00:19:44,819 --> 00:19:48,500
When they're not here, then, yeah, I'm gonna
use my kettlebells and have some fun with that.
467
00:19:48,500 --> 00:19:50,599
Usually in this room that I can lock the door.
468
00:19:51,059 --> 00:19:51,539
Right?
469
00:19:51,539 --> 00:19:53,399
They're usually not here when I'm doing it
anyways.
470
00:19:53,619 --> 00:19:59,174
But the point is that you'll you'll find more
quality time with them and more volume time
471
00:19:59,174 --> 00:19:59,994
with them.
472
00:20:00,134 --> 00:20:04,890
If you start incorporating that spare time that
you think you need, Right?
473
00:20:04,890 --> 00:20:10,089
Oh, I need to take time away from from them to
do meal prep or take time away from them to go
474
00:20:10,089 --> 00:20:10,589
exercise.
475
00:20:11,450 --> 00:20:11,769
No.
476
00:20:11,769 --> 00:20:15,295
You need to do those things, but you don't need
to take time away from them.
477
00:20:15,295 --> 00:20:16,755
They can be involved in that.
478
00:20:17,214 --> 00:20:19,535
I told you my kids are 3 and 3 and 5.
479
00:20:19,535 --> 00:20:21,339
3 and 5 they're involved with that.
480
00:20:21,419 --> 00:20:22,539
No really no excuse.
481
00:20:22,539 --> 00:20:22,779
No.
482
00:20:22,779 --> 00:20:26,640
I'm not gonna give you the excuse that
everybody has 24 hours in the day, by the way.
483
00:20:27,099 --> 00:20:31,875
But, however, there is no excuse if you have
the time and you're neglecting it.
484
00:20:31,875 --> 00:20:34,934
Like you're saying, I don't have the time to
exercise.
485
00:20:35,075 --> 00:20:36,755
Otherwise, my family has a suffer.
486
00:20:36,755 --> 00:20:37,255
No.
487
00:20:37,394 --> 00:20:38,195
No excuse there.
488
00:20:38,195 --> 00:20:39,815
They can do that stuff with you.
489
00:20:40,130 --> 00:20:40,289
Right?
490
00:20:40,289 --> 00:20:42,210
And if they're not gonna do it with you, fine.
491
00:20:42,210 --> 00:20:43,970
You can do it in the same sitting as them.
492
00:20:43,970 --> 00:20:47,350
You don't kinda get underneath the barbell to
take you some exercise in.
493
00:20:47,474 --> 00:20:49,894
And you can find fun things to do with them
too.
494
00:20:50,275 --> 00:20:52,195
Again, stop sitting down behind the TV.
495
00:20:52,195 --> 00:20:53,315
Get outside with them.
496
00:20:53,315 --> 00:20:54,214
Throw the ball.
497
00:20:54,500 --> 00:20:55,539
Do a jumping jacks.
498
00:20:55,539 --> 00:20:56,339
Do some challenges.
499
00:20:56,339 --> 00:20:57,400
Kids love challenges.
500
00:20:58,099 --> 00:20:58,339
Yeah.
501
00:20:58,339 --> 00:20:59,539
I got one client of mine.
502
00:20:59,539 --> 00:21:04,274
He started, getting his kids doing in, push up
and jumping jack challenges.
503
00:21:04,274 --> 00:21:08,674
And they're I think his kids are just a little
bit older than mine, and they do that, like,
504
00:21:08,674 --> 00:21:09,894
three times a week.
505
00:21:10,150 --> 00:21:11,269
They'll time themselves for a minute.
506
00:21:11,269 --> 00:21:16,089
How many he'll time it against his son to do
push ups and his daughter will do jump rope.
507
00:21:16,309 --> 00:21:16,950
How many jump rope?
508
00:21:16,950 --> 00:21:20,089
How many jumps can you get in, like, 30 seconds
or a minute?
509
00:21:20,454 --> 00:21:22,214
And they and that's exciting for them.
510
00:21:22,214 --> 00:21:23,575
They get to challenge their own dad.
511
00:21:23,575 --> 00:21:26,954
He gets to he gets to have the victory of
kicking his kids butts.
512
00:21:27,174 --> 00:21:28,795
He's doing that stuff.
513
00:21:29,289 --> 00:21:32,650
Challenge them, find different things that you
can do to get them involved and and
514
00:21:32,650 --> 00:21:35,549
incorporate, you know, health and fitness into
your life.
515
00:21:36,705 --> 00:21:37,605
You know what?
516
00:21:38,224 --> 00:21:39,265
Out of all of that?
517
00:21:39,265 --> 00:21:40,404
I know my experience.
518
00:21:40,464 --> 00:21:45,259
I did that with my kids too, so I have, I got a
I like to make jokes.
519
00:21:45,259 --> 00:21:46,619
I got a farm of kids.
520
00:21:46,619 --> 00:21:46,940
K.
521
00:21:46,940 --> 00:21:47,839
I got 6.
522
00:21:48,779 --> 00:21:49,819
I adopted 2.
523
00:21:49,819 --> 00:21:54,125
I got 4 of my own and, all ranging from now
currently.
524
00:21:54,505 --> 00:21:56,605
See if I can do this without messing it up.
525
00:21:57,224 --> 00:22:04,349
356 16, 18, 19.
526
00:22:05,210 --> 00:22:09,044
Now with my younger ones, I did like like you
did.
527
00:22:09,044 --> 00:22:11,464
I threw them on my back, and I was doing push
ups.
528
00:22:11,845 --> 00:22:16,750
So each time there was one time a day, every
time they're over, and challenges.
529
00:22:17,369 --> 00:22:21,629
Now, I think it's important to reintroduce what
a challenge actually is.
530
00:22:21,929 --> 00:22:25,035
Most people get afraid of the word challenge
you're like, oh my god.
531
00:22:25,035 --> 00:22:26,174
It's gonna be hard.
532
00:22:26,554 --> 00:22:28,234
And I don't wanna do it.
533
00:22:28,234 --> 00:22:33,140
Like, like, it's already made out to be a
negative thing, but it's not with the young
534
00:22:33,140 --> 00:22:40,259
ones, if you can turn a challenge into a fun
time, then they don't get programmed with, oh
535
00:22:40,259 --> 00:22:41,865
my god, challenge is scary.
536
00:22:42,345 --> 00:22:43,325
No challenges.
537
00:22:44,184 --> 00:22:49,704
Just another concept of life that we use to
help push our limits, help train for something
538
00:22:49,704 --> 00:22:50,140
more.
539
00:22:50,380 --> 00:22:52,779
So my kids love working out with us.
540
00:22:52,779 --> 00:22:55,359
We do, like, we used to record it a lot.
541
00:22:55,660 --> 00:22:59,105
We haven't lately, but we have all three of our
young ones.
542
00:22:59,265 --> 00:23:00,625
Doing the exact same thing.
543
00:23:00,625 --> 00:23:01,845
Push ups, stretching.
544
00:23:03,025 --> 00:23:06,420
The yoga, my little girl, she loves doing yoga
with Terry Lynn.
545
00:23:06,820 --> 00:23:10,840
And then the other 2 boys, they like doing,
what's that?
546
00:23:10,900 --> 00:23:12,359
I'm losing the word right now.
547
00:23:12,900 --> 00:23:13,400
Calasthetics.
548
00:23:14,100 --> 00:23:15,240
Is that the right word?
549
00:23:15,994 --> 00:23:19,134
More for, free weight, body weight kind of
things.
550
00:23:19,194 --> 00:23:23,115
So I do these weird poses and things, and then
they they mimic me.
551
00:23:23,115 --> 00:23:24,974
They copy me, and they try to do it.
552
00:23:24,980 --> 00:23:28,599
So right now, I'm kinda training for, like, the
whole Spider Man push up thing.
553
00:23:28,740 --> 00:23:32,919
And, so I'm doing different types of push ups,
and they're trying it.
554
00:23:33,059 --> 00:23:37,914
Like, 3 4 and 5 year or five and six years old,
and they're just loving it.
555
00:23:37,914 --> 00:23:42,880
But now they know and understand that working
out is not a bad thing.
556
00:23:42,880 --> 00:23:45,279
They're not afraid of it, and they love doing
it.
557
00:23:45,279 --> 00:23:49,700
And afterwards, they're all tired and then they
wanna nap or something or whatnot.
558
00:23:50,615 --> 00:23:52,634
So it's like, they're rewarded.
559
00:23:52,855 --> 00:23:56,535
And it it's such quality time that we got to
have together.
560
00:23:56,535 --> 00:23:58,490
It's like, Yeah.
561
00:23:58,490 --> 00:24:01,210
I wish I would have done it a lot sooner, but
you know what?
562
00:24:01,210 --> 00:24:08,605
Whatever passes a pass is what we do now that
is kinda like the whole pinnacle of everything,
563
00:24:08,825 --> 00:24:10,765
we can reset the stage anytime.
564
00:24:11,465 --> 00:24:15,180
And it it's like you said, when you when you
realize that maybe you weren't gonna stick in
565
00:24:15,180 --> 00:24:21,039
the navy and be an asset to the navy while
you're an even bigger asset to your family.
566
00:24:22,115 --> 00:24:22,434
Right?
567
00:24:22,434 --> 00:24:23,154
I get that.
568
00:24:23,154 --> 00:24:27,414
I I feel that because I've done lots of things,
firefighting.
569
00:24:29,075 --> 00:24:34,259
I've done a lot of labor ish stuffs and I'm
realizing now that it's only trained to me and
570
00:24:34,259 --> 00:24:36,279
put me where I wanna be with family.
571
00:24:36,900 --> 00:24:39,880
So exercising absolutely badass.
572
00:24:40,019 --> 00:24:45,085
Right now, when we offer our daughter, our
youngest daughter, a snack, you can give her
573
00:24:45,085 --> 00:24:47,505
some try to give her something from a box.
574
00:24:47,644 --> 00:24:48,365
She's like, no.
575
00:24:48,365 --> 00:24:49,380
I don't want that.
576
00:24:50,339 --> 00:24:53,160
If it's not green or colorful, I don't want it.
577
00:24:53,700 --> 00:24:54,660
So we're like, k.
578
00:24:54,660 --> 00:24:56,119
Well, go pick your own snack.
579
00:24:56,394 --> 00:24:59,214
She goes over and grabs a huge stock of
broccoli.
580
00:25:00,474 --> 00:25:02,015
It does one giant tree.
581
00:25:02,075 --> 00:25:07,220
She grabs, ah, goes and sits on a couch and
just starts much and I'd cold right from the
582
00:25:07,220 --> 00:25:07,720
fridge.
583
00:25:08,259 --> 00:25:08,819
That's it.
584
00:25:08,819 --> 00:25:09,639
She's happy.
585
00:25:09,779 --> 00:25:10,519
She's content.
586
00:25:10,740 --> 00:25:14,934
And now she's teaching her brothers, which are
older, to eat it too.
587
00:25:15,315 --> 00:25:20,275
So now the five year old, he's like, well, I'm
gonna go try that too, so he goes and grabs a
588
00:25:20,275 --> 00:25:21,015
red pepper.
589
00:25:21,619 --> 00:25:23,559
Just starts eating it like an apple.
590
00:25:23,940 --> 00:25:27,319
And then the older one, six years old, he goes
and grabs a carrot.
591
00:25:27,380 --> 00:25:31,399
Next thing, you know, each of them got their
own stock of these things, and they're just
592
00:25:32,375 --> 00:25:34,075
It's all about programming.
593
00:25:34,535 --> 00:25:41,390
We don't wanna let everything else external
program I remember a time where I thought that
594
00:25:41,390 --> 00:25:43,410
it was okay to just follow suit.
595
00:25:43,950 --> 00:25:47,390
I don't like following suit, and nor should we
follow suit.
596
00:25:47,390 --> 00:25:53,224
If we're gonna follow suit, we follow suit with
the things that align like you're talking
597
00:25:53,224 --> 00:25:53,724
about.
598
00:25:54,025 --> 00:25:55,704
And that's why I'm hitting it.
599
00:25:55,704 --> 00:26:03,140
So hitting it off so well with you is because
not only can I relate, but you're motivating?
600
00:26:03,920 --> 00:26:09,535
There's a lot of things you said from our last
episode that stick with me every day, and I
601
00:26:09,535 --> 00:26:10,654
keep replaying it.
602
00:26:10,654 --> 00:26:13,075
And it's gonna be the same with this chat too.
603
00:26:13,710 --> 00:26:19,890
It's like, well, the value and takeaway is, it
it empowering.
604
00:26:20,190 --> 00:26:20,690
Right?
605
00:26:21,214 --> 00:26:26,974
And, again, it's the whole reason why I'm
sitting here with somebody like you is, it's a
606
00:26:26,974 --> 00:26:33,179
pleasure to host, a perspective that is just
real about it.
607
00:26:33,559 --> 00:26:36,919
And I I couldn't have branded this channel any
better.
608
00:26:36,919 --> 00:26:42,845
Healthy families, conscious choices, because a
conscious choice is where we always fall off of
609
00:26:42,845 --> 00:26:43,345
it.
610
00:26:43,644 --> 00:26:45,644
We're it's like we what?
611
00:26:45,644 --> 00:26:47,664
Are we afraid that we don't have a choice?
612
00:26:47,964 --> 00:26:52,529
Are we afraid that we'll never have a choice.
613
00:26:52,529 --> 00:26:54,230
We always have a choice.
614
00:26:54,609 --> 00:26:59,109
And it's what we do now, that is gonna set us
up for later.
615
00:26:59,835 --> 00:27:03,194
So, oh, one last thing.
616
00:27:03,194 --> 00:27:04,575
We got a few minutes left.
617
00:27:05,115 --> 00:27:05,835
I'm curious.
618
00:27:05,835 --> 00:27:10,589
What's What's an exercise you did part of the
whole navy seals training?
619
00:27:11,289 --> 00:27:14,589
Tell me about something that was so, so hard.
620
00:27:15,075 --> 00:27:17,735
You're like, what the heck is this?
621
00:27:18,434 --> 00:27:18,674
Yeah.
622
00:27:18,674 --> 00:27:23,039
Probably one of the hardest things, that they
had us do was boats on head.
623
00:27:23,119 --> 00:27:25,920
We're supposed to run around with a boat on her
head, a rubber ding.
624
00:27:25,920 --> 00:27:28,019
Young had usually got a 6, 7 man crew.
625
00:27:28,880 --> 00:27:33,505
I I was lucky fortunate to have a 7 man crew if
the number of people are it that are in the the
626
00:27:33,505 --> 00:27:38,464
class, there's kind of a odd, I don't know, a
lot or even sometimes you get stuck with a 6
627
00:27:38,464 --> 00:27:39,019
man crew.
628
00:27:39,019 --> 00:27:39,820
It just happens.
629
00:27:39,820 --> 00:27:45,740
But you gotta go just based on hype, and we had
one guy that was I was in a crew where a lot of
630
00:27:45,740 --> 00:27:47,964
the guys were a little bit shorter than me.
631
00:27:47,964 --> 00:27:50,285
I would I'm 59, so I'm not that tall.
632
00:27:50,525 --> 00:27:51,884
But they're a little bit shorter than me.
633
00:27:51,884 --> 00:27:55,759
So that means I had to take a lot of the weight
in my head And so that was one of the things
634
00:27:55,759 --> 00:27:57,779
that really sucked the most.
635
00:27:57,920 --> 00:28:03,494
As a matter of fact, it sucks so bad and it
made it seem like because it would it'd hurt my
636
00:28:03,494 --> 00:28:05,994
head a little bit, and I don't know if it was
my form or something.
637
00:28:06,055 --> 00:28:10,619
I knew I was pushing that boat up, but I I I
would get screamed at It gets screamed at and
638
00:28:10,619 --> 00:28:12,140
saying that, you know, putting your weight up
there.
639
00:28:12,140 --> 00:28:15,900
I was like, I'm literally like my neck feels
like it's breaking, but it might have been
640
00:28:15,900 --> 00:28:16,140
formed.
641
00:28:16,140 --> 00:28:17,019
It might have been whatever.
642
00:28:17,019 --> 00:28:19,494
You know, it's one of those things, but Yeah.
643
00:28:19,494 --> 00:28:21,494
That was probably one of the worst things ever
did.
644
00:28:21,494 --> 00:28:23,654
You're supposed to carry that motor on
everywhere you go.
645
00:28:23,654 --> 00:28:24,535
Like, that's one of
646
00:28:24,535 --> 00:28:25,194
the things.
647
00:28:25,575 --> 00:28:27,914
Did they have, like, a set distance or
something?
648
00:28:28,240 --> 00:28:28,480
No.
649
00:28:28,480 --> 00:28:28,960
Not really.
650
00:28:28,960 --> 00:28:30,400
You'd run for miles on it.
651
00:28:30,400 --> 00:28:32,880
Like, you'd run for miles.
652
00:28:32,880 --> 00:28:34,640
You take the boat to to lunch.
653
00:28:34,640 --> 00:28:36,480
You go take it back to the beach.
654
00:28:36,480 --> 00:28:38,625
You go take it back to dinner.
655
00:28:38,625 --> 00:28:40,785
You just you just you just take the boat
everywhere you go.
656
00:28:40,785 --> 00:28:41,924
It's your boat crew.
657
00:28:41,984 --> 00:28:43,184
You have your boat crew with you.
658
00:28:43,184 --> 00:28:44,865
You just take it take it to the O course.
659
00:28:44,865 --> 00:28:45,904
Go run the O course.
660
00:28:45,904 --> 00:28:47,205
Take it to the the pick.
661
00:28:47,319 --> 00:28:48,440
Go to some of the pet.
662
00:28:48,440 --> 00:28:49,099
Take it.
663
00:28:49,399 --> 00:28:50,819
You gotta take your boat everywhere you go.
664
00:28:50,819 --> 00:28:51,099
That's all.
665
00:28:51,099 --> 00:28:52,359
That's just what you gotta do.
666
00:28:52,359 --> 00:28:53,880
It's with you.
667
00:28:53,880 --> 00:28:56,944
So that's just kinda how it was, but Yeah, man.
668
00:28:56,944 --> 00:28:59,345
That was probably the the crappiest thing.
669
00:28:59,664 --> 00:29:01,984
One of my favorite ones though was definitely
the old course.
670
00:29:01,984 --> 00:29:03,025
I love that old course.
671
00:29:03,025 --> 00:29:04,565
Like, I would kill it there.
672
00:29:04,859 --> 00:29:08,220
Was just so much fun because I was I was the
type of kid that just liked climbing trees
673
00:29:08,220 --> 00:29:09,779
anyways and doing all kinds of stuff.
674
00:29:09,779 --> 00:29:12,000
So, of course, it was super fun for me.
675
00:29:12,115 --> 00:29:15,394
But, yeah, I just I wanted to touch on
something that you did say, you know, the about
676
00:29:15,394 --> 00:29:16,054
the challenges.
677
00:29:16,595 --> 00:29:20,304
It is about, you know, setting up a challenge
as a as a positive.
678
00:29:20,359 --> 00:29:20,519
Right?
679
00:29:20,519 --> 00:29:23,880
If you could set it up for a positive, not only
for your kids, but yourself, but the way you do
680
00:29:23,880 --> 00:29:29,400
that is not necessarily just just doing
physical exercise or or or having them
681
00:29:29,400 --> 00:29:30,345
incorporate things.
682
00:29:30,345 --> 00:29:33,244
It's teaching your kids to learn from failure.
683
00:29:33,944 --> 00:29:37,784
That's what they need to understand challenges
about because there's a difference between
684
00:29:37,784 --> 00:29:40,809
people who succeed and people who don't
succeed.
685
00:29:41,429 --> 00:29:48,224
And it's there's people who look at failure or
mistakes as an opportune to learn, grow, and
686
00:29:48,224 --> 00:29:54,164
improve, and there's people that see mistakes
and failures as debilitating, and they quit.
687
00:29:54,640 --> 00:29:56,819
There's only 2 there's only 2 different people.
688
00:29:56,880 --> 00:30:00,559
The successful people in the world fail
multiple times, and I'm talking about these
689
00:30:00,559 --> 00:30:05,085
people that have multibillionaire companies or
people that are super ripped like bodybuilders.
690
00:30:05,625 --> 00:30:10,825
These people have failed multiple times, but
the people that just didn't make it, because,
691
00:30:10,825 --> 00:30:13,569
like, and they say they have these stories
like, well, I could have done this.
692
00:30:13,569 --> 00:30:14,630
I could have done that.
693
00:30:14,769 --> 00:30:16,849
They usually quit after their first failure.
694
00:30:16,849 --> 00:30:18,710
They say, oh, I guess I can't do it.
695
00:30:18,855 --> 00:30:20,234
I guess that's not me.
696
00:30:20,454 --> 00:30:20,694
Right?
697
00:30:20,694 --> 00:30:22,394
They quit after that first failure.
698
00:30:22,934 --> 00:30:25,654
You need to look at those failures and say, you
know what?
699
00:30:25,654 --> 00:30:26,934
This is an opportunity to learn.
700
00:30:26,934 --> 00:30:28,634
This is an opportunity for me to grow.
701
00:30:28,799 --> 00:30:29,599
I messed up.
702
00:30:29,599 --> 00:30:32,240
So instead of getting upset about it, instead
of saying, hey.
703
00:30:32,240 --> 00:30:32,799
You know what?
704
00:30:32,799 --> 00:30:33,679
I can't do this.
705
00:30:33,679 --> 00:30:37,759
Instead, I'm gonna look at it and say, what can
I do differently if I'm if I'm in this scenario
706
00:30:37,759 --> 00:30:38,259
again?
707
00:30:38,575 --> 00:30:40,994
What did I mess up on here that I can fix?
708
00:30:41,454 --> 00:30:45,615
I'd rather look at that and see how I can
improve myself and say, oh, I messed up here.
709
00:30:45,615 --> 00:30:48,909
That means I guess I can't even do this thing
where I'm not good at thing.
710
00:30:49,450 --> 00:30:50,569
A lot of people think that.
711
00:30:50,569 --> 00:30:53,470
That's what scares a lot of people from being
successful.
712
00:30:53,529 --> 00:30:58,815
It scares a lot of people from from pursuing
their dreams and pursuing their careers but you
713
00:30:58,815 --> 00:31:03,299
need to teach your kids this when they're young
when they fail when they mess up Stop yelling
714
00:31:03,299 --> 00:31:04,259
at them for it.
715
00:31:04,259 --> 00:31:04,740
Say, okay.
716
00:31:04,740 --> 00:31:05,960
What did you do wrong?
717
00:31:06,180 --> 00:31:07,059
How can you fix this?
718
00:31:07,059 --> 00:31:08,680
What are you gonna do next time?
719
00:31:09,059 --> 00:31:09,559
Right?
720
00:31:09,859 --> 00:31:13,785
Start and and you can do this with exercise and
nutrition.
721
00:31:14,565 --> 00:31:15,065
Right?
722
00:31:15,285 --> 00:31:19,684
Oh, I do a protein waffles with my girls
usually on Friday mornings because they love
723
00:31:19,684 --> 00:31:20,585
protein waffles.
724
00:31:20,909 --> 00:31:21,309
Right?
725
00:31:21,309 --> 00:31:24,829
Use a Kodiak protein waffles, and we throw some
sprinkles in it.
726
00:31:24,829 --> 00:31:26,849
We got the unicorn sprinkles and everything.
727
00:31:27,390 --> 00:31:27,869
Right?
728
00:31:27,869 --> 00:31:33,484
And they loved they hardly ever spill now
because when they spilled the first times, I
729
00:31:33,484 --> 00:31:34,684
didn't yell at them for spilling.
730
00:31:34,684 --> 00:31:37,725
That's just gonna make them spill again and get
nervous when they do it next time.
731
00:31:37,725 --> 00:31:39,220
And their whole measuring cup.
732
00:31:39,359 --> 00:31:42,580
Now they're more careful because it's like, oh,
you spilled.
733
00:31:42,880 --> 00:31:43,940
Let's clean it up.
734
00:31:44,240 --> 00:31:45,359
What do you gotta do different?
735
00:31:45,359 --> 00:31:45,680
Oh, okay.
736
00:31:45,680 --> 00:31:47,664
Maybe holding hold it closer to the books.
737
00:31:47,664 --> 00:31:48,345
Man, this big bowl.
738
00:31:48,345 --> 00:31:49,984
I haven't pulled the measuring cup.
739
00:31:49,984 --> 00:31:51,904
My youngest one, she kept putting it over here.
740
00:31:51,904 --> 00:31:52,944
She was tilting it.
741
00:31:52,944 --> 00:31:55,505
And I am the first time she tilted it, I didn't
correct her.
742
00:31:55,505 --> 00:31:56,690
I just poured the milk.
743
00:31:56,929 --> 00:32:01,429
And she noticed that it wouldn't fill it up and
it kept spilling and on her own she turned it
744
00:32:01,569 --> 00:32:02,549
to where's level.
745
00:32:02,690 --> 00:32:04,484
That's a big deal for a three year old.
746
00:32:04,565 --> 00:32:05,204
Well, yeah.
747
00:32:05,204 --> 00:32:09,125
If she holds it, she holds it pretty level,
lets me pour the milk, lets me pour the powder
748
00:32:09,125 --> 00:32:12,424
dumps it in, doesn't spill a thing because she
learned from that.
749
00:32:12,730 --> 00:32:17,529
I taught her that so that how when you make
mistakes or when you do something that doesn't
750
00:32:17,529 --> 00:32:22,875
turn out quite right, you gotta figure out how
to fix it instead of getting upset own a
751
00:32:22,875 --> 00:32:24,974
tantrum and saying I'm not gonna do this
anymore.
752
00:32:25,355 --> 00:32:30,394
Now she understands my three year old
understands a cup here, hold the cup here, hold
753
00:32:30,394 --> 00:32:35,019
it over the bowl, hold it level so that dedac
and pour the milk and put the powder in, and I
754
00:32:35,019 --> 00:32:35,919
can dump it.
755
00:32:36,059 --> 00:32:36,539
Yeah.
756
00:32:36,539 --> 00:32:37,039
100%.
757
00:32:37,899 --> 00:32:41,075
Speaking of challenges, and teachings.
758
00:32:41,615 --> 00:32:42,914
We got a minute left.
759
00:32:43,695 --> 00:32:47,420
How about you redirect us to this boot camp
challenge you got going on?
760
00:32:47,660 --> 00:32:47,980
Yeah.
761
00:32:47,980 --> 00:32:54,059
So, those of you that saw the last episode, I
run a a a group called Patriot Dads Fitness.
762
00:32:54,059 --> 00:32:57,734
It's all about being a strong provider
protector and leader your family's deserve.
763
00:32:57,734 --> 00:32:59,095
And I'm actually running a boot camp.
764
00:32:59,095 --> 00:33:02,315
It's gonna be starting on, July or not July.
765
00:33:02,375 --> 00:33:08,390
June 10th, Monday, June 10th, So right around
the corner Monday, June 10th is going to be
766
00:33:08,390 --> 00:33:09,109
this challenge.
767
00:33:09,109 --> 00:33:10,630
Now you can sign up for this.
768
00:33:10,630 --> 00:33:11,849
It's a dog fitness.com.
769
00:33:12,964 --> 00:33:15,924
Backslash, and I'll have to I'll have to
remember.
770
00:33:15,924 --> 00:33:19,625
I think there's a little tax and dash marks in
there, so you might wanna post it somewhere,
771
00:33:19,765 --> 00:33:22,345
but it's a fitness leadership boot camp.
772
00:33:22,710 --> 00:33:22,950
Right?
773
00:33:22,950 --> 00:33:26,789
I believe it's fitness tech leadership tech
boot camp.
774
00:33:26,789 --> 00:33:29,210
I believe when I've hit the URL, it should be
correct.
775
00:33:29,509 --> 00:33:31,285
But I'm sure you're gonna post it somewhere.
776
00:33:31,285 --> 00:33:31,525
Yeah.
777
00:33:31,684 --> 00:33:33,205
But it does start on 10th.
778
00:33:33,205 --> 00:33:36,484
Anybody that that signs up early before it
starts, I'm actually gonna be doing
779
00:33:36,484 --> 00:33:38,085
personalized nutrition for you.
780
00:33:38,085 --> 00:33:43,350
So if you do start register early, like, today
because it's gonna be the last couple of days.
781
00:33:43,350 --> 00:33:44,490
You register early.
782
00:33:44,950 --> 00:33:45,590
Get in there.
783
00:33:45,590 --> 00:33:47,483
You're gonna get access to a private face
00:00:00,160 --> 00:00:00,659
1.
2
00:00:02,960 --> 00:00:07,700
Welcome back to another episode of TNT Healthy
Families and conscious choices.
3
00:00:08,244 --> 00:00:10,664
Got a reoccurring guest, Mister David here.
4
00:00:11,125 --> 00:00:13,384
We had such a great time on the last one.
5
00:00:13,605 --> 00:00:18,230
Only touch base on some health tips and a bit
of background on them.
6
00:00:18,869 --> 00:00:22,969
And, you know, I think this is gonna be several
episodes.
7
00:00:23,829 --> 00:00:30,625
And we're gonna hear a little bit more about
what David's been doing on his side, currently
8
00:00:30,765 --> 00:00:32,625
with his value in sharing.
9
00:00:33,484 --> 00:00:35,905
Gotta talk about the Patriot's dad's side of
it.
10
00:00:36,710 --> 00:00:41,189
I personally, and I'm sure others, if they
listen to the last one, are gonna wanna hear
11
00:00:41,189 --> 00:00:49,824
more of this militant stranduous, hard, bad
ass, navy seals training that, none of us get
12
00:00:49,824 --> 00:00:54,100
to experience unless we were actually there
doing it ourselves.
13
00:00:54,100 --> 00:01:00,840
And I can only imagine the physical mental
stress that actually solidified and helped you
14
00:01:01,765 --> 00:01:03,864
stand with postured today.
15
00:01:04,644 --> 00:01:09,719
And, again, the patriots dad side of it, I'm
gonna leave it all to you.
16
00:01:09,719 --> 00:01:11,900
So, welcome back, David.
17
00:01:13,000 --> 00:01:16,520
Pleasure to have you back, and I'm sure this
will be a few times.
18
00:01:16,520 --> 00:01:17,400
So I'm pumped.
19
00:01:17,400 --> 00:01:19,414
Let let's chat.
20
00:01:19,954 --> 00:01:22,935
I wanna start off with, let's go navy.
21
00:01:23,554 --> 00:01:26,914
I've always dreamed about being a navy guide,
but then I'm like, oh, wow.
22
00:01:26,914 --> 00:01:28,099
Is that even possible.
23
00:01:28,099 --> 00:01:29,159
Could I do it?
24
00:01:30,739 --> 00:01:39,165
The the challenges and the, all the things
involved, like, I I admire for, the things that
25
00:01:39,165 --> 00:01:43,984
you've accomplished in there and not suitable
for everybody.
26
00:01:44,450 --> 00:01:49,489
But I'm sure it really does build you as the
person and the man you are today.
27
00:01:49,489 --> 00:01:49,989
So
28
00:01:50,450 --> 00:01:50,689
it
29
00:01:50,689 --> 00:01:51,909
sticks here, really.
30
00:01:52,375 --> 00:01:52,614
Yeah.
31
00:01:52,614 --> 00:01:53,094
Absolutely.
32
00:01:53,094 --> 00:01:58,534
I mean, as as I mentioned in your last podcast
on our encouraging commitment, those are core
33
00:01:58,534 --> 00:02:00,555
values instilled me in the navy.
34
00:02:00,694 --> 00:02:00,935
Right?
35
00:02:00,935 --> 00:02:02,659
I know it's interest rate views.
36
00:02:02,659 --> 00:02:04,579
I know it seems like my eyes are closing today.
37
00:02:04,579 --> 00:02:09,194
I've been up so long today, but the these are
these are core values that have just instilling
38
00:02:09,194 --> 00:02:09,435
me.
39
00:02:09,435 --> 00:02:15,594
I had values before that maybe obviously going
in, but it wasn't until I actually joined and
40
00:02:15,594 --> 00:02:19,389
had those kind of assigned that they really
were were able to be solidified.
41
00:02:19,530 --> 00:02:21,689
A lot of times, we have that issue.
42
00:02:21,689 --> 00:02:23,849
We we have these values we have in our head.
43
00:02:23,849 --> 00:02:26,030
We have these thoughts about who we wanna be.
44
00:02:26,104 --> 00:02:30,504
But sometimes we need direction or sometimes we
need a path, you know, drawn out before us.
45
00:02:30,504 --> 00:02:33,164
It's not always easy to just kinda wing it.
46
00:02:33,270 --> 00:02:36,569
Kinda reminds me of a conversation I actually
have with a client in mind.
47
00:02:36,629 --> 00:02:42,240
Literally earlier today, we were talking about,
like, some breathing exercises to help mitigate
48
00:02:42,240 --> 00:02:42,740
stress.
49
00:02:43,305 --> 00:02:47,625
And I was telling about these these exercises
that you can do, these 3 different style
50
00:02:47,625 --> 00:02:48,525
breathing exercises.
51
00:02:48,584 --> 00:02:50,104
There's the diaphragmatic breathing.
52
00:02:50,104 --> 00:02:52,639
There's a 478 and there's the box breeding.
53
00:02:52,639 --> 00:02:57,120
And these three strategies are have been proven
time and time again to reduce stress and
54
00:02:57,120 --> 00:03:02,495
increase, you know, cognitive performance help
with, you know, lung strength, all that good
55
00:03:02,495 --> 00:03:02,995
stuff.
56
00:03:03,215 --> 00:03:04,014
And he had told me.
57
00:03:04,014 --> 00:03:07,454
He said, you know, this is something that that
had kind of been unconsciously doing when I get
58
00:03:07,454 --> 00:03:09,240
stressed out, you know, I take my breaths.
59
00:03:09,240 --> 00:03:10,040
You know, I breathe in.
60
00:03:10,040 --> 00:03:12,120
I breathe out just to calm myself down.
61
00:03:12,120 --> 00:03:13,960
And I asked him, well, how often do you do
this?
62
00:03:13,960 --> 00:03:17,879
He goes, well, you know, every couple of weeks
or if I'm getting super stressed out, I'll do
63
00:03:17,879 --> 00:03:18,425
these things.
64
00:03:18,824 --> 00:03:22,185
And so it's something that you're already
doing, but it wasn't until I gave them that
65
00:03:22,185 --> 00:03:22,685
direction.
66
00:03:22,905 --> 00:03:26,844
I said, hey, these 3 drills, I want you to do
these 3 drills daily.
67
00:03:27,050 --> 00:03:28,430
At least twice a day.
68
00:03:28,650 --> 00:03:28,810
Right?
69
00:03:28,810 --> 00:03:31,310
Because they're not only just trying to
mitigate the stress.
70
00:03:31,449 --> 00:03:33,050
You're also trying to strengthen your lungs.
71
00:03:33,050 --> 00:03:37,875
You're also trying to be mentally focused for
for your day, for your job, for your family,
72
00:03:38,014 --> 00:03:39,314
the people that need you.
73
00:03:39,534 --> 00:03:41,375
And it wasn't until then that he realized,
okay.
74
00:03:41,375 --> 00:03:41,615
You know what?
75
00:03:41,615 --> 00:03:45,250
I have been thinking about these things, but
now that I have a plan of action, you can
76
00:03:45,250 --> 00:03:45,750
prioritize.
77
00:03:45,810 --> 00:03:47,750
The same thing happened with my core values.
78
00:03:47,969 --> 00:03:52,974
I had values before I went into the navy, but
it wasn't totally solidified the honor courage
79
00:03:52,974 --> 00:03:55,395
and commitment where I just really grasped onto
that.
80
00:03:55,455 --> 00:03:58,814
I would encourage anybody out there to, you
know, just have that set of core values.
81
00:03:58,814 --> 00:04:02,469
It doesn't have to be the same as mine It could
be whatever core values you want.
82
00:04:02,469 --> 00:04:02,656
Right?
83
00:04:02,656 --> 00:04:05,270
2, 3, 4, whatever the values that you have.
84
00:04:05,270 --> 00:04:09,245
But once you lock in those values, that's gonna
change you as a person.
85
00:04:09,245 --> 00:04:10,764
Because that's gonna be your guidance.
86
00:04:10,764 --> 00:04:15,324
That's my guidance for how I run my business,
run my coaching, but it's also my guidance for
87
00:04:15,324 --> 00:04:16,785
how I treat my family.
88
00:04:17,220 --> 00:04:20,199
Right, and treat my friends to decisions that I
make.
89
00:04:20,579 --> 00:04:23,620
Since I've had those values, I know when to
shut up.
90
00:04:23,620 --> 00:04:24,899
I know when to speak.
91
00:04:24,899 --> 00:04:25,139
Right?
92
00:04:25,139 --> 00:04:28,774
And I know I know when, how to how to act, how
to behave, what to look for.
93
00:04:28,774 --> 00:04:33,894
I'm more situationally aware, right, more
honest, more have the power to just do the
94
00:04:33,894 --> 00:04:34,560
right thing.
95
00:04:34,560 --> 00:04:34,800
Right?
96
00:04:34,800 --> 00:04:39,439
Not saying I was doing all the wrong things
before, but just having that compass right
97
00:04:39,439 --> 00:04:40,639
there is super important.
98
00:04:40,639 --> 00:04:42,339
And most people just don't have that.
99
00:04:42,454 --> 00:04:45,814
Most people when they don't have that set of
values pointing towards the right the towards
100
00:04:45,814 --> 00:04:50,454
the right direction, they just don't know what
to do when a when a stressful situation arises
101
00:04:50,454 --> 00:04:51,435
because they're like, okay.
102
00:04:51,689 --> 00:04:52,810
What do I do?
103
00:04:52,810 --> 00:04:53,689
I'm a good person.
104
00:04:53,689 --> 00:04:54,649
What should I do?
105
00:04:54,649 --> 00:04:55,870
That's not enough sometimes.
106
00:04:56,089 --> 00:04:58,490
Sometimes you need that honor courage
commitment.
107
00:04:58,490 --> 00:05:00,449
Just kinda rattling off in your brain and
saying, okay.
108
00:05:00,449 --> 00:05:01,384
What would I do?
109
00:05:01,464 --> 00:05:03,725
If I'm if I'm being navigated by those values.
110
00:05:04,504 --> 00:05:05,004
Yeah.
111
00:05:05,145 --> 00:05:06,425
And kids.
112
00:05:06,425 --> 00:05:12,209
So touch base, definitely, fathers, a whole
patriot father.
113
00:05:12,269 --> 00:05:16,884
So what about, how many kids you got?
114
00:05:17,045 --> 00:05:20,025
Like, what how long has your relationship been?
115
00:05:20,165 --> 00:05:24,485
How, because we all know it's all puppy love at
the start.
116
00:05:24,485 --> 00:05:24,725
Right?
117
00:05:24,725 --> 00:05:29,789
And it's all sunshine and rainbows, but it's
not always like that.
118
00:05:29,789 --> 00:05:36,735
So you're you have to carry over a lot of what
you've learned because you're the rock of your
119
00:05:36,735 --> 00:05:37,235
partner.
120
00:05:37,455 --> 00:05:38,995
You're the rockier kids.
121
00:05:39,295 --> 00:05:40,975
You're you're you're the beacon.
122
00:05:40,975 --> 00:05:46,620
It's like even though it's like, you know,
diets busy doing things that they don't always
123
00:05:46,920 --> 00:05:48,300
are a part of or understand.
124
00:05:48,519 --> 00:05:54,535
But at the end of the day, it's like, you show
up and stronghold the situation and kind of
125
00:05:54,535 --> 00:05:55,095
correct it.
126
00:05:55,095 --> 00:06:00,189
So how does that be applied to what you have to
do and what you're going through.
127
00:06:00,189 --> 00:06:00,509
Yeah.
128
00:06:00,509 --> 00:06:04,529
And and you have to have those values applied
to to lead your family to success.
129
00:06:04,750 --> 00:06:05,250
Absolutely.
130
00:06:05,944 --> 00:06:07,464
You need to be there for your family.
131
00:06:07,464 --> 00:06:10,444
It's almost be like a gentle giant.
132
00:06:10,584 --> 00:06:10,824
Right?
133
00:06:10,824 --> 00:06:15,849
You need to have the ability to defend your
family to provide to protect your family, but
134
00:06:15,849 --> 00:06:21,870
at the same time, you know, dish out that that
discipline without it being just a tyrannical
135
00:06:21,930 --> 00:06:22,329
person.
136
00:06:22,329 --> 00:06:22,490
Right?
137
00:06:22,490 --> 00:06:23,550
There's there's a difference.
138
00:06:24,355 --> 00:06:24,855
Yeah.
139
00:06:25,074 --> 00:06:30,055
You know, a man or a dad who's tyrannical and
who's angry and who's just always instructive.
140
00:06:30,915 --> 00:06:34,180
And the dad that's can be constructive at the
same time.
141
00:06:34,660 --> 00:06:34,899
Right?
142
00:06:34,899 --> 00:06:37,479
You need to be able to for the dad's out there
listening.
143
00:06:37,860 --> 00:06:41,300
And, you know, there's there's another man
that's that's said it said it better than me.
144
00:06:41,300 --> 00:06:45,055
I don't know if anybody heard of Jordan
Peterson but you need to be able to be a
145
00:06:45,055 --> 00:06:45,555
monster.
146
00:06:45,854 --> 00:06:46,095
Right?
147
00:06:46,095 --> 00:06:51,935
The difference between a good man and a bad man
is a monster that's the that's able to control
148
00:06:51,935 --> 00:06:52,435
it.
149
00:06:52,600 --> 00:06:53,000
Right?
150
00:06:53,000 --> 00:06:57,420
You need to be able to be a monster and be able
to control those feelings, control those rages.
151
00:06:57,639 --> 00:06:57,879
Right?
152
00:06:57,879 --> 00:07:01,464
But you need to be able to, if need be, rage
out.
153
00:07:01,524 --> 00:07:01,685
Right?
154
00:07:01,685 --> 00:07:02,185
Yep.
155
00:07:02,324 --> 00:07:06,324
Is if you're if you're just completely gentle
and you're you're saying I'm gonna be a
156
00:07:06,324 --> 00:07:10,460
completely gentle person, Well, if it hits the
fan, you're not gonna know what to do and your
157
00:07:10,460 --> 00:07:12,460
family aren't isn't gonna be able to depend on
you.
158
00:07:12,460 --> 00:07:16,620
I want my family to to be able to depend on me,
and that's why I have those core values to do
159
00:07:16,620 --> 00:07:17,439
the right thing.
160
00:07:17,714 --> 00:07:20,274
I'm not gonna say it was all sunshine and
rainbows my whole life.
161
00:07:20,274 --> 00:07:23,654
I know you wanted me to touch, you know, kind
of on that on that navy career.
162
00:07:23,714 --> 00:07:25,175
It wasn't a very long career.
163
00:07:25,529 --> 00:07:26,009
At all.
164
00:07:26,009 --> 00:07:27,050
It wasn't very long at all.
165
00:07:27,050 --> 00:07:29,689
I went through the budstrating to go be a navy
seal.
166
00:07:29,689 --> 00:07:33,069
And, unfortunately, when I was twenty five
years old, I had a stroke.
167
00:07:33,185 --> 00:07:34,884
While I was going through that training.
168
00:07:35,185 --> 00:07:35,345
Right?
169
00:07:35,345 --> 00:07:39,024
And that stroke actually rolled me out of the
training, so I didn't get the pin on the
170
00:07:39,024 --> 00:07:39,524
Trident.
171
00:07:39,584 --> 00:07:43,879
Now one of the that was one of the most you
know, devastating things that have happened in
172
00:07:43,879 --> 00:07:49,250
my life, one of the most stressful things, the
thing that actually turned me from wanting to
173
00:07:49,250 --> 00:07:52,365
succeed to wanting to fall into boost.
174
00:07:52,425 --> 00:07:52,665
Right?
175
00:07:52,665 --> 00:07:55,084
There was a very trying time in my life.
176
00:07:55,384 --> 00:07:55,625
Right?
177
00:07:55,625 --> 00:07:58,204
I I was about to quit everything.
178
00:07:58,789 --> 00:07:59,930
Literally everything.
179
00:08:00,470 --> 00:08:00,789
Right?
180
00:08:00,789 --> 00:08:03,509
Because I had trained for years for years.
181
00:08:03,509 --> 00:08:06,169
My dad was on the SWAT team since I was a
little kid.
182
00:08:06,314 --> 00:08:07,435
Was out in the gun range.
183
00:08:07,435 --> 00:08:08,555
I was out doing jujitsu.
184
00:08:08,555 --> 00:08:09,935
I was out doing this stuff.
185
00:08:10,475 --> 00:08:14,955
But when it came to that and I was finally at
the point where like, hey, you know what?
186
00:08:14,955 --> 00:08:16,209
I'm gonna I'm gonna do this.
187
00:08:16,209 --> 00:08:17,649
Gonna be the best of the best.
188
00:08:17,649 --> 00:08:18,930
Train super hard for it.
189
00:08:18,930 --> 00:08:20,289
Be at the top of my class.
190
00:08:20,289 --> 00:08:20,789
Awesome.
191
00:08:21,169 --> 00:08:23,089
I was up there on top with running swimming.
192
00:08:23,089 --> 00:08:23,944
Not so much.
193
00:08:24,985 --> 00:08:29,464
You know, it is it's actually funny because
when I swim without flippers, like, just our
194
00:08:29,464 --> 00:08:33,384
freestyle swimming, I was I was up front of the
pack, but when I put flippers on, I don't know
195
00:08:33,384 --> 00:08:33,929
what it is.
196
00:08:34,089 --> 00:08:34,943
Fins don't work for me.
197
00:08:34,943 --> 00:08:38,730
I it was actually not until I got out and got
my personal training certification that I
198
00:08:38,730 --> 00:08:42,065
realized that my feet pronate, and that's had
something to do with it.
199
00:08:42,065 --> 00:08:45,285
But anyways, I'm kinda rambling and going off
topic there.
200
00:08:45,345 --> 00:08:49,524
The point is I trained so hard for something
that I thought was going to be my life.
201
00:08:49,929 --> 00:08:50,250
Right?
202
00:08:50,250 --> 00:08:52,269
And it was taken away from me.
203
00:08:52,409 --> 00:08:59,204
And it wasn't till I actually, you know, got
married and had my kids that I realized This is
204
00:08:59,204 --> 00:09:00,424
what I was built for.
205
00:09:00,725 --> 00:09:02,824
This is what I've been training for all along.
206
00:09:02,964 --> 00:09:06,345
I wasn't training to be a badass navy seal.
207
00:09:06,720 --> 00:09:07,940
Like I thought it was.
208
00:09:08,160 --> 00:09:13,120
I wasn't trained to be, you know, some some
rock out there, go that the government can
209
00:09:13,120 --> 00:09:17,695
point me to and say, hey, destroy that village
Oh, that that's not what I was training for.
210
00:09:17,835 --> 00:09:21,054
I was training to be the husband and father
that I am today.
211
00:09:21,195 --> 00:09:22,575
That's what I'm training for.
212
00:09:22,670 --> 00:09:27,710
And that's why how I'm able to set aside those
times for them, but also set side times for the
213
00:09:27,710 --> 00:09:29,995
things that are also important to provide for
them.
214
00:09:30,394 --> 00:09:32,714
Being well rounded as a father is super
important.
215
00:09:32,714 --> 00:09:34,634
There's a lot of dads that I've talked to out
there.
216
00:09:34,634 --> 00:09:38,875
It's like, you know, my family comes first, so
that's why I'm away from my family all the
217
00:09:38,875 --> 00:09:39,375
time.
218
00:09:39,409 --> 00:09:40,449
Doing all this work.
219
00:09:40,449 --> 00:09:41,409
I feel for you.
220
00:09:41,409 --> 00:09:42,949
I definitely feel for you.
221
00:09:43,329 --> 00:09:49,524
But when you're when you're spending, you know,
60, 70 hours out of your week, away from your
222
00:09:49,524 --> 00:09:54,725
family and you don't have the provision to show
for that, it might be a time where you need to
223
00:09:54,725 --> 00:09:57,309
reevaluate that and start thinking, k.
224
00:09:57,309 --> 00:09:59,330
What can I actually do a little bit better?
225
00:09:59,389 --> 00:10:01,549
What not not saying you're a bad person.
226
00:10:01,549 --> 00:10:01,710
Right?
227
00:10:01,710 --> 00:10:05,470
You're not a bad person for those type of
choices, but start looking at other skills that
228
00:10:05,470 --> 00:10:06,370
you might have.
229
00:10:06,605 --> 00:10:12,125
We live in a time right now where, you know,
side hustles are just a a kind of a thing.
230
00:10:12,125 --> 00:10:15,620
And there's a lot of them out there for people
that they can do it to where they can be able
231
00:10:15,620 --> 00:10:16,580
to provide for their families.
232
00:10:16,580 --> 00:10:17,940
And I'd encourage you guys to do that.
233
00:10:17,940 --> 00:10:22,200
Don't find something that's gonna add
additional, like, 20, 30 hours to your week.
234
00:10:22,580 --> 00:10:24,279
Find something that you can do simply.
235
00:10:24,735 --> 00:10:24,975
Right?
236
00:10:24,975 --> 00:10:30,115
Because part of being well rounded is providing
protecting and leading.
237
00:10:30,815 --> 00:10:31,134
Mhmm.
238
00:10:31,134 --> 00:10:32,975
You need to be able to do all those threes.
239
00:10:32,975 --> 00:10:34,435
I'll I'll I'll three of those things.
240
00:10:34,879 --> 00:10:39,120
If you're just providing and you're spending
hours and hours away from family, where you're
241
00:10:39,120 --> 00:10:44,179
taking yourself away from them to to have the
ability to lead them and protect them.
242
00:10:44,574 --> 00:10:46,274
And those things are super important.
243
00:10:46,574 --> 00:10:46,894
Right?
244
00:10:46,894 --> 00:10:48,115
You lead by example.
245
00:10:48,574 --> 00:10:49,454
Just think about it.
246
00:10:49,454 --> 00:10:52,829
If you're listening to this, I hope it
resonates with somebody I'm not trying to bash
247
00:10:52,829 --> 00:10:53,789
on anybody again.
248
00:10:53,789 --> 00:10:56,429
I want you guys to really just look at
different perspectives.
249
00:10:56,429 --> 00:11:00,394
I always wanna encourage people to look at
their own perspective and someone else's.
250
00:11:00,535 --> 00:11:01,035
Right?
251
00:11:01,174 --> 00:11:04,615
You can give me the middle finger in the in the
if you're watching this or listening to this
252
00:11:04,615 --> 00:11:05,254
and say, no.
253
00:11:05,254 --> 00:11:05,414
No.
254
00:11:05,414 --> 00:11:05,735
You're wrong.
255
00:11:05,735 --> 00:11:06,535
That's totally fine.
256
00:11:06,535 --> 00:11:08,559
I just wanna offer you perspective.
257
00:11:09,419 --> 00:11:17,904
If your idea of leadership to your family is to
show is to is to be away to make that money for
258
00:11:17,904 --> 00:11:22,404
the family so that you can provide for them and
they can eat and have shelter.
259
00:11:22,625 --> 00:11:23,125
Good.
260
00:11:23,904 --> 00:11:25,764
What is that teaching them in the future?
261
00:11:26,299 --> 00:11:28,379
You're you're teaching your children in the
future.
262
00:11:28,379 --> 00:11:33,644
Hey, when you grow up, you also don't get to be
with your family because it's your job to stay
263
00:11:33,644 --> 00:11:34,125
away.
264
00:11:34,125 --> 00:11:36,044
It's your job to not be there.
265
00:11:36,044 --> 00:11:40,464
It's your job to go out and make them money,
which it is your job to provide for them.
266
00:11:40,845 --> 00:11:44,049
But you're also neglecting the leadership
aspect.
267
00:11:44,750 --> 00:11:44,990
Right?
268
00:11:44,990 --> 00:11:47,970
The leadership aspect means you need to also be
present.
269
00:11:48,429 --> 00:11:48,929
Right?
270
00:11:49,465 --> 00:11:52,524
You need to be present there for your family
there with your family.
271
00:11:52,585 --> 00:11:53,785
And it's not easier.
272
00:11:53,785 --> 00:11:54,105
Yeah.
273
00:11:54,105 --> 00:11:55,865
I mean, it's easy said than done.
274
00:11:55,865 --> 00:11:56,184
Right?
275
00:11:56,184 --> 00:11:59,540
Some some people out there you're you're in
this situation.
276
00:11:59,540 --> 00:12:00,899
You may be listening, Merrick, right now.
277
00:12:00,899 --> 00:12:01,540
I was like, well, okay.
278
00:12:01,540 --> 00:12:02,419
Well, how do I do that?
279
00:12:02,419 --> 00:12:05,299
I drive a truck for for 15 to 16 hour days.
280
00:12:05,299 --> 00:12:06,600
So I get it.
281
00:12:06,995 --> 00:12:07,475
I get it.
282
00:12:07,475 --> 00:12:08,675
I totally get it.
283
00:12:08,675 --> 00:12:10,215
I take all these extra shifts.
284
00:12:10,514 --> 00:12:12,274
I I'm working night jobs.
285
00:12:12,274 --> 00:12:14,134
I'm doing all these these other things.
286
00:12:14,549 --> 00:12:16,309
I'm not saying go put your job today.
287
00:12:16,309 --> 00:12:18,090
I'm not saying go put your job tomorrow.
288
00:12:18,470 --> 00:12:22,889
I'm saying take a step back, evaluate, and say,
okay.
289
00:12:23,705 --> 00:12:28,585
What can I actually do that I have the skills
on that will allow me to give the same
290
00:12:28,585 --> 00:12:31,245
provisions to my family, but also give me more
time with them?
291
00:12:31,879 --> 00:12:35,720
That's a hard question for for a lot of people,
especially if you've been driving a truck for
292
00:12:35,720 --> 00:12:40,679
16 years and you're missing birthday parties
and you're missing missing time with with your
293
00:12:40,679 --> 00:12:41,179
family.
294
00:12:41,545 --> 00:12:45,945
That's a that's a hard question to answer
because at the end of the day, in order to
295
00:12:45,945 --> 00:12:51,165
lead, in order to really bring these kids up,
right, you really have to consider, like, hey,
296
00:12:51,610 --> 00:12:54,029
Did I raise them or did somebody else?
297
00:12:54,410 --> 00:12:59,370
Are we living in a time right now where,
really, somebody else is raising raising your
298
00:12:59,370 --> 00:12:59,955
kid is.
299
00:12:59,955 --> 00:13:00,195
Right?
300
00:13:00,195 --> 00:13:04,035
If you're sending them off to school and send
them off to to this and that, day cares boot
301
00:13:04,035 --> 00:13:06,695
camps, and my and my kids, they go to day cares
too.
302
00:13:06,995 --> 00:13:08,294
I got them part time.
303
00:13:08,889 --> 00:13:12,730
In in day care and they see their grandparents
just about every week and they see me every
304
00:13:12,730 --> 00:13:12,889
week.
305
00:13:12,889 --> 00:13:15,389
So they're we we have the structure of, like,
family.
306
00:13:16,164 --> 00:13:20,345
I believe it it takes a village to raise your
kids, and I want that village to be my family.
307
00:13:20,644 --> 00:13:20,965
Right?
308
00:13:20,965 --> 00:13:21,285
Yeah.
309
00:13:21,285 --> 00:13:24,105
So I allow for that to happen so that they can
be with them.
310
00:13:24,350 --> 00:13:27,389
And and be around family, be around the people
that care about them.
311
00:13:27,389 --> 00:13:31,950
We're actually really excited because I I I
decided that we're going to probably end up
312
00:13:31,950 --> 00:13:32,990
homeschooling our kids.
313
00:13:32,990 --> 00:13:36,804
Maybe not you know, this year, it might move on
to the next year.
314
00:13:36,804 --> 00:13:38,725
And I know you asked me, like, how many kids I
got?
315
00:13:38,725 --> 00:13:43,339
I got two little girls, three and five, so one
of them just graduated VPK.
316
00:13:43,339 --> 00:13:45,259
She's going to going to kindergarten next year.
317
00:13:45,259 --> 00:13:48,639
She's excited about it, but we're probably
gonna move to that homeschool situation because
318
00:13:49,024 --> 00:13:52,865
I wanna be the one that kinda controls that
that learning experience for them.
319
00:13:52,865 --> 00:13:53,745
So it was my wife.
320
00:13:53,745 --> 00:13:55,664
Like, we wanna make sure we have that
influence.
321
00:13:55,664 --> 00:14:00,740
We wanna make sure that they have the structure
in order to succeed in the future, but also
322
00:14:01,759 --> 00:14:03,120
spend more time with us.
323
00:14:03,120 --> 00:14:03,620
Right?
324
00:14:03,679 --> 00:14:07,215
It's been a definitely more time with us
because that's super important.
325
00:14:07,434 --> 00:14:10,475
Now not everybody can do what I'm doing and
just work from home.
326
00:14:10,475 --> 00:14:11,375
I get it.
327
00:14:11,409 --> 00:14:15,190
I said, truck drivers out there, night shift
workers, people that are still in the military
328
00:14:15,730 --> 00:14:16,789
and going overseas.
329
00:14:17,009 --> 00:14:21,495
Totally get it, but you need to find those
where you can actually be there and be present
330
00:14:21,495 --> 00:14:24,315
for them because they're gonna remember.
331
00:14:24,454 --> 00:14:26,054
They're gonna remember when they grow up.
332
00:14:26,054 --> 00:14:29,899
They're gonna remember They're the things
they're not gonna remember is, yeah, my dad
333
00:14:29,899 --> 00:14:31,360
kept a roof over my head.
334
00:14:32,220 --> 00:14:32,459
Yeah.
335
00:14:32,459 --> 00:14:37,120
My dad, we all we always had at dinner every
single night because my dad worked.
336
00:14:37,404 --> 00:14:42,524
What they are gonna remember is I I don't
remember eating dinner with my dad more than a
337
00:14:42,524 --> 00:14:43,345
couple times.
338
00:14:43,805 --> 00:14:47,090
I don't I I remember 6 months at a time that my
dad was gone.
339
00:14:47,889 --> 00:14:50,389
Those are the things that they they're gonna
remember in the future.
340
00:14:50,850 --> 00:14:52,930
Those are the things that are gonna stick with
them.
341
00:14:52,930 --> 00:14:57,334
So at the end of the day, it's it's usually the
negative things that we do that people really
342
00:14:57,334 --> 00:14:57,894
remember most.
343
00:14:57,894 --> 00:15:02,794
I don't remember all the positives unless you
make those positive memories stellar.
344
00:15:03,414 --> 00:15:05,834
So I spend as much time as possible with my
kids.
345
00:15:06,379 --> 00:15:06,879
Right?
346
00:15:07,100 --> 00:15:10,220
And it it it's very simple to actually find
these times.
347
00:15:10,220 --> 00:15:12,220
And we think it's it's we can think it's
different.
348
00:15:12,220 --> 00:15:12,879
It's difficult.
349
00:15:13,419 --> 00:15:17,495
So for instance, a loan lot of families out
there and I've talked to a lot of dads about
350
00:15:17,495 --> 00:15:18,954
this who do the same thing.
351
00:15:19,014 --> 00:15:22,774
And I'll ask them what what's your what's your
and I actually even made a post on my on my
352
00:15:22,774 --> 00:15:24,054
profile one time about this.
353
00:15:24,054 --> 00:15:26,139
But how do you spend quality time with your
kids.
354
00:15:26,440 --> 00:15:28,620
And I ask usually my clients as well.
355
00:15:28,679 --> 00:15:33,019
I get a lot of answers that are, like, we just
kinda have TV night together.
356
00:15:33,894 --> 00:15:35,754
Popcorn watching some TV.
357
00:15:36,375 --> 00:15:36,615
Right?
358
00:15:36,615 --> 00:15:40,215
Or I'll just, you know, sit on my chair and
they'll play with their Legos and they'll play
359
00:15:40,215 --> 00:15:43,960
with this, or they'll they'll be playing while
cooking dinner.
360
00:15:43,960 --> 00:15:45,500
That's not the way to do it.
361
00:15:46,440 --> 00:15:48,539
What happens with TV night?
362
00:15:49,879 --> 00:15:50,779
Watch this.
363
00:15:51,399 --> 00:15:52,299
I can't hear.
364
00:15:52,825 --> 00:15:53,625
Calm down.
365
00:15:53,625 --> 00:15:54,845
Everybody be quiet.
366
00:15:54,985 --> 00:15:56,605
That is not quality time.
367
00:15:57,144 --> 00:15:58,345
That is not quality time.
368
00:15:58,345 --> 00:15:58,985
I'll tell you what.
369
00:15:58,985 --> 00:16:02,889
The TV only happens in my house once maybe
twice a week.
370
00:16:02,889 --> 00:16:05,370
They'll get to watch a cartoon, maybe 1 or 2
cartoons.
371
00:16:05,370 --> 00:16:06,190
That's it.
372
00:16:06,330 --> 00:16:07,850
They're not watching it every single day.
373
00:16:07,850 --> 00:16:09,274
They're not watching every single night.
374
00:16:09,274 --> 00:16:12,394
Now, yeah, granted sometimes at the
grandparent's house, they get to watch a little
375
00:16:12,394 --> 00:16:13,055
bit more.
376
00:16:13,514 --> 00:16:18,795
I'm not gonna I've I've said my piece to them a
few times, but I'm not gonna I'm not gonna
377
00:16:18,795 --> 00:16:20,399
fight that bottle, that battle.
378
00:16:20,700 --> 00:16:24,540
What you should be doing to find those more
those times that you can spend with them is
379
00:16:24,540 --> 00:16:27,919
start incorporating healthy things and exciting
things for them.
380
00:16:27,955 --> 00:16:30,934
Instead of TV, I sit down and and play Legos
with them.
381
00:16:30,995 --> 00:16:33,715
I have them come walk the every time I walk the
dog.
382
00:16:33,715 --> 00:16:34,595
They get on their scooters.
383
00:16:34,595 --> 00:16:36,320
They ride around the neighborhood with me.
384
00:16:36,320 --> 00:16:37,519
We go for a long walk.
385
00:16:37,519 --> 00:16:41,759
I'll just take my dog out to the to the corner
and let her pee and poo.
386
00:16:41,759 --> 00:16:44,340
We go around the entire neighborhood and there
are other scooters.
387
00:16:44,825 --> 00:16:45,725
Right and around.
388
00:16:45,865 --> 00:16:47,865
When I'm cooking something, guess what?
389
00:16:47,865 --> 00:16:49,164
They're cooking with me.
390
00:16:49,304 --> 00:16:50,825
They can stir what can be stirred.
391
00:16:50,825 --> 00:16:53,589
They can not but they can open things that can
be open.
392
00:16:53,589 --> 00:16:55,269
They can push buttons on a on a microwave.
393
00:16:55,269 --> 00:16:57,209
They just can't touch sharp and hot.
394
00:16:57,429 --> 00:17:00,009
They're too little to touch touch those 2
things.
395
00:17:00,815 --> 00:17:02,254
They love cooking with me.
396
00:17:02,254 --> 00:17:04,595
And the cool thing is they eat more of their
food.
397
00:17:04,654 --> 00:17:04,894
Right?
398
00:17:04,894 --> 00:17:10,195
Just for those I know for parents out there, if
your kids have a hand in cooking that meal,
399
00:17:10,559 --> 00:17:13,440
they're more likely to eat it because it's
something they created.
400
00:17:13,440 --> 00:17:17,299
We're more likely to consume things that we
created and be proud of things that we created.
401
00:17:18,080 --> 00:17:19,039
Give you another example.
402
00:17:19,039 --> 00:17:19,860
Physical fitness.
403
00:17:20,585 --> 00:17:21,085
Right?
404
00:17:21,225 --> 00:17:24,184
In the mornings and sometimes in afternoons, my
kids work out with me.
405
00:17:24,184 --> 00:17:27,950
They get on my back for push ups, which is very
typical that dad's like to do.
406
00:17:27,950 --> 00:17:29,710
I use a lot of resistance bands.
407
00:17:29,710 --> 00:17:33,869
So my kids, when I'm doing other things other
than push ups, like lap pull downs, bicep
408
00:17:33,869 --> 00:17:35,549
curls, all sorts of stuff.
409
00:17:35,549 --> 00:17:37,724
They're able to engage with too and do the same
thing.
410
00:17:37,724 --> 00:17:39,184
They both know the word exercise.
411
00:17:39,644 --> 00:17:43,644
They don't know exactly what they're doing,
right, if I'm doing some rows or shaking the
412
00:17:43,644 --> 00:17:49,039
bands, but they are associating the healthy
behavior of exercise with fun.
413
00:17:49,500 --> 00:17:54,320
And that's super important because if you're if
you're setting up exercise, it's a negativity
414
00:17:54,460 --> 00:17:58,494
for your kids, which it's gonna be pushed to
them all through school if your kids are still
415
00:17:58,494 --> 00:17:59,154
in school.
416
00:17:59,295 --> 00:18:05,150
I remember, back when I was in high school was
when they start moving physical fitness,
417
00:18:05,150 --> 00:18:07,730
physical education, I think it was 1 year.
418
00:18:08,029 --> 00:18:10,750
And I think it was is it like a semester or
something like that?
419
00:18:10,750 --> 00:18:10,910
No.
420
00:18:10,910 --> 00:18:13,545
I don't I don't know what it is, but don't have
to do it every year.
421
00:18:13,545 --> 00:18:13,704
I'm
422
00:18:13,704 --> 00:18:14,184
not sure.
423
00:18:14,184 --> 00:18:14,664
That's it.
424
00:18:14,664 --> 00:18:15,724
That's all it is.
425
00:18:16,025 --> 00:18:16,505
That's it.
426
00:18:16,505 --> 00:18:18,684
That that sets it up as a huge negative.
427
00:18:18,904 --> 00:18:20,365
Man, I have to do PE.
428
00:18:20,904 --> 00:18:21,884
I have to.
429
00:18:22,039 --> 00:18:25,880
And when you shouldn't be setting that up as a
negative for your kids either at, like, at
430
00:18:25,880 --> 00:18:28,680
home, I have to work out, or do I have to do
this?
431
00:18:28,680 --> 00:18:31,654
You should never pressure them and go out and
go for do a run.
432
00:18:31,654 --> 00:18:32,454
Go out and do this.
433
00:18:32,454 --> 00:18:33,515
Go out and do that.
434
00:18:33,894 --> 00:18:34,714
Make it exciting.
435
00:18:35,095 --> 00:18:36,694
They're not always exercising with me.
436
00:18:36,694 --> 00:18:38,315
Sometimes they don't feel like it.
437
00:18:38,380 --> 00:18:39,500
I'm not gonna pressure them.
438
00:18:39,500 --> 00:18:41,339
I'm not gonna say you have to do this.
439
00:18:41,339 --> 00:18:45,740
But what I am gonna do is look like like I'm
excited about my exercise, and by the way, I am
440
00:18:45,740 --> 00:18:46,859
excited about my exercise.
441
00:18:46,859 --> 00:18:50,865
I who love it, and they're gonna see it as a
positive thing too, and they're gonna be more
442
00:18:50,865 --> 00:18:55,684
inclined to actually perform those activities
and and be athletic in the future as well.
443
00:18:55,859 --> 00:18:58,900
So it's really important that you incorporate
these things with your kids.
444
00:18:58,900 --> 00:19:02,099
So there's just a couple of tips for those of
you out there that are listening that are like,
445
00:19:02,099 --> 00:19:03,174
oh, I don't have time.
446
00:19:03,494 --> 00:19:04,134
I don't have time.
447
00:19:04,134 --> 00:19:04,615
I get home.
448
00:19:04,615 --> 00:19:08,775
It's super late and I gotta cook dinner or, you
know, I gotta exercise and I and there's more
449
00:19:08,775 --> 00:19:09,654
time away from my kids.
450
00:19:09,654 --> 00:19:09,894
No.
451
00:19:09,894 --> 00:19:10,955
Just get them involved.
452
00:19:11,609 --> 00:19:11,769
Right?
453
00:19:11,769 --> 00:19:17,549
If you're if you're out there and your career
isn't body builder or Avengers or supermodel,
454
00:19:17,849 --> 00:19:20,970
don't worry about getting a gym membership and
getting away from your family.
455
00:19:20,970 --> 00:19:25,065
Could off a good set of resistance bands, work
out at home, and train with them.
456
00:19:25,065 --> 00:19:26,184
They're gonna love it.
457
00:19:26,184 --> 00:19:29,244
Get safe equipment depending on how how old
your kids are.
458
00:19:29,609 --> 00:19:30,890
I love my bands.
459
00:19:30,890 --> 00:19:33,049
I can give I've gotten big with my bands.
460
00:19:33,049 --> 00:19:34,410
I mostly use bands and kettabo.
461
00:19:34,410 --> 00:19:35,390
That's all I use.
462
00:19:35,930 --> 00:19:36,890
They love the bands too.
463
00:19:36,890 --> 00:19:37,775
It's safe for them.
464
00:19:37,775 --> 00:19:42,174
I don't take my kettlebells out and and work
out with them when they're out there because I
465
00:19:42,174 --> 00:19:44,674
don't want them to hurt themselves, but we just
use the bands.
466
00:19:44,819 --> 00:19:48,500
When they're not here, then, yeah, I'm gonna
use my kettlebells and have some fun with that.
467
00:19:48,500 --> 00:19:50,599
Usually in this room that I can lock the door.
468
00:19:51,059 --> 00:19:51,539
Right?
469
00:19:51,539 --> 00:19:53,399
They're usually not here when I'm doing it
anyways.
470
00:19:53,619 --> 00:19:59,174
But the point is that you'll you'll find more
quality time with them and more volume time
471
00:19:59,174 --> 00:19:59,994
with them.
472
00:20:00,134 --> 00:20:04,890
If you start incorporating that spare time that
you think you need, Right?
473
00:20:04,890 --> 00:20:10,089
Oh, I need to take time away from from them to
do meal prep or take time away from them to go
474
00:20:10,089 --> 00:20:10,589
exercise.
475
00:20:11,450 --> 00:20:11,769
No.
476
00:20:11,769 --> 00:20:15,295
You need to do those things, but you don't need
to take time away from them.
477
00:20:15,295 --> 00:20:16,755
They can be involved in that.
478
00:20:17,214 --> 00:20:19,535
I told you my kids are 3 and 3 and 5.
479
00:20:19,535 --> 00:20:21,339
3 and 5 they're involved with that.
480
00:20:21,419 --> 00:20:22,539
No really no excuse.
481
00:20:22,539 --> 00:20:22,779
No.
482
00:20:22,779 --> 00:20:26,640
I'm not gonna give you the excuse that
everybody has 24 hours in the day, by the way.
483
00:20:27,099 --> 00:20:31,875
But, however, there is no excuse if you have
the time and you're neglecting it.
484
00:20:31,875 --> 00:20:34,934
Like you're saying, I don't have the time to
exercise.
485
00:20:35,075 --> 00:20:36,755
Otherwise, my family has a suffer.
486
00:20:36,755 --> 00:20:37,255
No.
487
00:20:37,394 --> 00:20:38,195
No excuse there.
488
00:20:38,195 --> 00:20:39,815
They can do that stuff with you.
489
00:20:40,130 --> 00:20:40,289
Right?
490
00:20:40,289 --> 00:20:42,210
And if they're not gonna do it with you, fine.
491
00:20:42,210 --> 00:20:43,970
You can do it in the same sitting as them.
492
00:20:43,970 --> 00:20:47,350
You don't kinda get underneath the barbell to
take you some exercise in.
493
00:20:47,474 --> 00:20:49,894
And you can find fun things to do with them
too.
494
00:20:50,275 --> 00:20:52,195
Again, stop sitting down behind the TV.
495
00:20:52,195 --> 00:20:53,315
Get outside with them.
496
00:20:53,315 --> 00:20:54,214
Throw the ball.
497
00:20:54,500 --> 00:20:55,539
Do a jumping jacks.
498
00:20:55,539 --> 00:20:56,339
Do some challenges.
499
00:20:56,339 --> 00:20:57,400
Kids love challenges.
500
00:20:58,099 --> 00:20:58,339
Yeah.
501
00:20:58,339 --> 00:20:59,539
I got one client of mine.
502
00:20:59,539 --> 00:21:04,274
He started, getting his kids doing in, push up
and jumping jack challenges.
503
00:21:04,274 --> 00:21:08,674
And they're I think his kids are just a little
bit older than mine, and they do that, like,
504
00:21:08,674 --> 00:21:09,894
three times a week.
505
00:21:10,150 --> 00:21:11,269
They'll time themselves for a minute.
506
00:21:11,269 --> 00:21:16,089
How many he'll time it against his son to do
push ups and his daughter will do jump rope.
507
00:21:16,309 --> 00:21:16,950
How many jump rope?
508
00:21:16,950 --> 00:21:20,089
How many jumps can you get in, like, 30 seconds
or a minute?
509
00:21:20,454 --> 00:21:22,214
And they and that's exciting for them.
510
00:21:22,214 --> 00:21:23,575
They get to challenge their own dad.
511
00:21:23,575 --> 00:21:26,954
He gets to he gets to have the victory of
kicking his kids butts.
512
00:21:27,174 --> 00:21:28,795
He's doing that stuff.
513
00:21:29,289 --> 00:21:32,650
Challenge them, find different things that you
can do to get them involved and and
514
00:21:32,650 --> 00:21:35,549
incorporate, you know, health and fitness into
your life.
515
00:21:36,705 --> 00:21:37,605
You know what?
516
00:21:38,224 --> 00:21:39,265
Out of all of that?
517
00:21:39,265 --> 00:21:40,404
I know my experience.
518
00:21:40,464 --> 00:21:45,259
I did that with my kids too, so I have, I got a
I like to make jokes.
519
00:21:45,259 --> 00:21:46,619
I got a farm of kids.
520
00:21:46,619 --> 00:21:46,940
K.
521
00:21:46,940 --> 00:21:47,839
I got 6.
522
00:21:48,779 --> 00:21:49,819
I adopted 2.
523
00:21:49,819 --> 00:21:54,125
I got 4 of my own and, all ranging from now
currently.
524
00:21:54,505 --> 00:21:56,605
See if I can do this without messing it up.
525
00:21:57,224 --> 00:22:04,349
356 16, 18, 19.
526
00:22:05,210 --> 00:22:09,044
Now with my younger ones, I did like like you
did.
527
00:22:09,044 --> 00:22:11,464
I threw them on my back, and I was doing push
ups.
528
00:22:11,845 --> 00:22:16,750
So each time there was one time a day, every
time they're over, and challenges.
529
00:22:17,369 --> 00:22:21,629
Now, I think it's important to reintroduce what
a challenge actually is.
530
00:22:21,929 --> 00:22:25,035
Most people get afraid of the word challenge
you're like, oh my god.
531
00:22:25,035 --> 00:22:26,174
It's gonna be hard.
532
00:22:26,554 --> 00:22:28,234
And I don't wanna do it.
533
00:22:28,234 --> 00:22:33,140
Like, like, it's already made out to be a
negative thing, but it's not with the young
534
00:22:33,140 --> 00:22:40,259
ones, if you can turn a challenge into a fun
time, then they don't get programmed with, oh
535
00:22:40,259 --> 00:22:41,865
my god, challenge is scary.
536
00:22:42,345 --> 00:22:43,325
No challenges.
537
00:22:44,184 --> 00:22:49,704
Just another concept of life that we use to
help push our limits, help train for something
538
00:22:49,704 --> 00:22:50,140
more.
539
00:22:50,380 --> 00:22:52,779
So my kids love working out with us.
540
00:22:52,779 --> 00:22:55,359
We do, like, we used to record it a lot.
541
00:22:55,660 --> 00:22:59,105
We haven't lately, but we have all three of our
young ones.
542
00:22:59,265 --> 00:23:00,625
Doing the exact same thing.
543
00:23:00,625 --> 00:23:01,845
Push ups, stretching.
544
00:23:03,025 --> 00:23:06,420
The yoga, my little girl, she loves doing yoga
with Terry Lynn.
545
00:23:06,820 --> 00:23:10,840
And then the other 2 boys, they like doing,
what's that?
546
00:23:10,900 --> 00:23:12,359
I'm losing the word right now.
547
00:23:12,900 --> 00:23:13,400
Calasthetics.
548
00:23:14,100 --> 00:23:15,240
Is that the right word?
549
00:23:15,994 --> 00:23:19,134
More for, free weight, body weight kind of
things.
550
00:23:19,194 --> 00:23:23,115
So I do these weird poses and things, and then
they they mimic me.
551
00:23:23,115 --> 00:23:24,974
They copy me, and they try to do it.
552
00:23:24,980 --> 00:23:28,599
So right now, I'm kinda training for, like, the
whole Spider Man push up thing.
553
00:23:28,740 --> 00:23:32,919
And, so I'm doing different types of push ups,
and they're trying it.
554
00:23:33,059 --> 00:23:37,914
Like, 3 4 and 5 year or five and six years old,
and they're just loving it.
555
00:23:37,914 --> 00:23:42,880
But now they know and understand that working
out is not a bad thing.
556
00:23:42,880 --> 00:23:45,279
They're not afraid of it, and they love doing
it.
557
00:23:45,279 --> 00:23:49,700
And afterwards, they're all tired and then they
wanna nap or something or whatnot.
558
00:23:50,615 --> 00:23:52,634
So it's like, they're rewarded.
559
00:23:52,855 --> 00:23:56,535
And it it's such quality time that we got to
have together.
560
00:23:56,535 --> 00:23:58,490
It's like, Yeah.
561
00:23:58,490 --> 00:24:01,210
I wish I would have done it a lot sooner, but
you know what?
562
00:24:01,210 --> 00:24:08,605
Whatever passes a pass is what we do now that
is kinda like the whole pinnacle of everything,
563
00:24:08,825 --> 00:24:10,765
we can reset the stage anytime.
564
00:24:11,465 --> 00:24:15,180
And it it's like you said, when you when you
realize that maybe you weren't gonna stick in
565
00:24:15,180 --> 00:24:21,039
the navy and be an asset to the navy while
you're an even bigger asset to your family.
566
00:24:22,115 --> 00:24:22,434
Right?
567
00:24:22,434 --> 00:24:23,154
I get that.
568
00:24:23,154 --> 00:24:27,414
I I feel that because I've done lots of things,
firefighting.
569
00:24:29,075 --> 00:24:34,259
I've done a lot of labor ish stuffs and I'm
realizing now that it's only trained to me and
570
00:24:34,259 --> 00:24:36,279
put me where I wanna be with family.
571
00:24:36,900 --> 00:24:39,880
So exercising absolutely badass.
572
00:24:40,019 --> 00:24:45,085
Right now, when we offer our daughter, our
youngest daughter, a snack, you can give her
573
00:24:45,085 --> 00:24:47,505
some try to give her something from a box.
574
00:24:47,644 --> 00:24:48,365
She's like, no.
575
00:24:48,365 --> 00:24:49,380
I don't want that.
576
00:24:50,339 --> 00:24:53,160
If it's not green or colorful, I don't want it.
577
00:24:53,700 --> 00:24:54,660
So we're like, k.
578
00:24:54,660 --> 00:24:56,119
Well, go pick your own snack.
579
00:24:56,394 --> 00:24:59,214
She goes over and grabs a huge stock of
broccoli.
580
00:25:00,474 --> 00:25:02,015
It does one giant tree.
581
00:25:02,075 --> 00:25:07,220
She grabs, ah, goes and sits on a couch and
just starts much and I'd cold right from the
582
00:25:07,220 --> 00:25:07,720
fridge.
583
00:25:08,259 --> 00:25:08,819
That's it.
584
00:25:08,819 --> 00:25:09,639
She's happy.
585
00:25:09,779 --> 00:25:10,519
She's content.
586
00:25:10,740 --> 00:25:14,934
And now she's teaching her brothers, which are
older, to eat it too.
587
00:25:15,315 --> 00:25:20,275
So now the five year old, he's like, well, I'm
gonna go try that too, so he goes and grabs a
588
00:25:20,275 --> 00:25:21,015
red pepper.
589
00:25:21,619 --> 00:25:23,559
Just starts eating it like an apple.
590
00:25:23,940 --> 00:25:27,319
And then the older one, six years old, he goes
and grabs a carrot.
591
00:25:27,380 --> 00:25:31,399
Next thing, you know, each of them got their
own stock of these things, and they're just
592
00:25:32,375 --> 00:25:34,075
It's all about programming.
593
00:25:34,535 --> 00:25:41,390
We don't wanna let everything else external
program I remember a time where I thought that
594
00:25:41,390 --> 00:25:43,410
it was okay to just follow suit.
595
00:25:43,950 --> 00:25:47,390
I don't like following suit, and nor should we
follow suit.
596
00:25:47,390 --> 00:25:53,224
If we're gonna follow suit, we follow suit with
the things that align like you're talking
597
00:25:53,224 --> 00:25:53,724
about.
598
00:25:54,025 --> 00:25:55,704
And that's why I'm hitting it.
599
00:25:55,704 --> 00:26:03,140
So hitting it off so well with you is because
not only can I relate, but you're motivating?
600
00:26:03,920 --> 00:26:09,535
There's a lot of things you said from our last
episode that stick with me every day, and I
601
00:26:09,535 --> 00:26:10,654
keep replaying it.
602
00:26:10,654 --> 00:26:13,075
And it's gonna be the same with this chat too.
603
00:26:13,710 --> 00:26:19,890
It's like, well, the value and takeaway is, it
it empowering.
604
00:26:20,190 --> 00:26:20,690
Right?
605
00:26:21,214 --> 00:26:26,974
And, again, it's the whole reason why I'm
sitting here with somebody like you is, it's a
606
00:26:26,974 --> 00:26:33,179
pleasure to host, a perspective that is just
real about it.
607
00:26:33,559 --> 00:26:36,919
And I I couldn't have branded this channel any
better.
608
00:26:36,919 --> 00:26:42,845
Healthy families, conscious choices, because a
conscious choice is where we always fall off of
609
00:26:42,845 --> 00:26:43,345
it.
610
00:26:43,644 --> 00:26:45,644
We're it's like we what?
611
00:26:45,644 --> 00:26:47,664
Are we afraid that we don't have a choice?
612
00:26:47,964 --> 00:26:52,529
Are we afraid that we'll never have a choice.
613
00:26:52,529 --> 00:26:54,230
We always have a choice.
614
00:26:54,609 --> 00:26:59,109
And it's what we do now, that is gonna set us
up for later.
615
00:26:59,835 --> 00:27:03,194
So, oh, one last thing.
616
00:27:03,194 --> 00:27:04,575
We got a few minutes left.
617
00:27:05,115 --> 00:27:05,835
I'm curious.
618
00:27:05,835 --> 00:27:10,589
What's What's an exercise you did part of the
whole navy seals training?
619
00:27:11,289 --> 00:27:14,589
Tell me about something that was so, so hard.
620
00:27:15,075 --> 00:27:17,735
You're like, what the heck is this?
621
00:27:18,434 --> 00:27:18,674
Yeah.
622
00:27:18,674 --> 00:27:23,039
Probably one of the hardest things, that they
had us do was boats on head.
623
00:27:23,119 --> 00:27:25,920
We're supposed to run around with a boat on her
head, a rubber ding.
624
00:27:25,920 --> 00:27:28,019
Young had usually got a 6, 7 man crew.
625
00:27:28,880 --> 00:27:33,505
I I was lucky fortunate to have a 7 man crew if
the number of people are it that are in the the
626
00:27:33,505 --> 00:27:38,464
class, there's kind of a odd, I don't know, a
lot or even sometimes you get stuck with a 6
627
00:27:38,464 --> 00:27:39,019
man crew.
628
00:27:39,019 --> 00:27:39,820
It just happens.
629
00:27:39,820 --> 00:27:45,740
But you gotta go just based on hype, and we had
one guy that was I was in a crew where a lot of
630
00:27:45,740 --> 00:27:47,964
the guys were a little bit shorter than me.
631
00:27:47,964 --> 00:27:50,285
I would I'm 59, so I'm not that tall.
632
00:27:50,525 --> 00:27:51,884
But they're a little bit shorter than me.
633
00:27:51,884 --> 00:27:55,759
So that means I had to take a lot of the weight
in my head And so that was one of the things
634
00:27:55,759 --> 00:27:57,779
that really sucked the most.
635
00:27:57,920 --> 00:28:03,494
As a matter of fact, it sucks so bad and it
made it seem like because it would it'd hurt my
636
00:28:03,494 --> 00:28:05,994
head a little bit, and I don't know if it was
my form or something.
637
00:28:06,055 --> 00:28:10,619
I knew I was pushing that boat up, but I I I
would get screamed at It gets screamed at and
638
00:28:10,619 --> 00:28:12,140
saying that, you know, putting your weight up
there.
639
00:28:12,140 --> 00:28:15,900
I was like, I'm literally like my neck feels
like it's breaking, but it might have been
640
00:28:15,900 --> 00:28:16,140
formed.
641
00:28:16,140 --> 00:28:17,019
It might have been whatever.
642
00:28:17,019 --> 00:28:19,494
You know, it's one of those things, but Yeah.
643
00:28:19,494 --> 00:28:21,494
That was probably one of the worst things ever
did.
644
00:28:21,494 --> 00:28:23,654
You're supposed to carry that motor on
everywhere you go.
645
00:28:23,654 --> 00:28:24,535
Like, that's one of
646
00:28:24,535 --> 00:28:25,194
the things.
647
00:28:25,575 --> 00:28:27,914
Did they have, like, a set distance or
something?
648
00:28:28,240 --> 00:28:28,480
No.
649
00:28:28,480 --> 00:28:28,960
Not really.
650
00:28:28,960 --> 00:28:30,400
You'd run for miles on it.
651
00:28:30,400 --> 00:28:32,880
Like, you'd run for miles.
652
00:28:32,880 --> 00:28:34,640
You take the boat to to lunch.
653
00:28:34,640 --> 00:28:36,480
You go take it back to the beach.
654
00:28:36,480 --> 00:28:38,625
You go take it back to dinner.
655
00:28:38,625 --> 00:28:40,785
You just you just you just take the boat
everywhere you go.
656
00:28:40,785 --> 00:28:41,924
It's your boat crew.
657
00:28:41,984 --> 00:28:43,184
You have your boat crew with you.
658
00:28:43,184 --> 00:28:44,865
You just take it take it to the O course.
659
00:28:44,865 --> 00:28:45,904
Go run the O course.
660
00:28:45,904 --> 00:28:47,205
Take it to the the pick.
661
00:28:47,319 --> 00:28:48,440
Go to some of the pet.
662
00:28:48,440 --> 00:28:49,099
Take it.
663
00:28:49,399 --> 00:28:50,819
You gotta take your boat everywhere you go.
664
00:28:50,819 --> 00:28:51,099
That's all.
665
00:28:51,099 --> 00:28:52,359
That's just what you gotta do.
666
00:28:52,359 --> 00:28:53,880
It's with you.
667
00:28:53,880 --> 00:28:56,944
So that's just kinda how it was, but Yeah, man.
668
00:28:56,944 --> 00:28:59,345
That was probably the the crappiest thing.
669
00:28:59,664 --> 00:29:01,984
One of my favorite ones though was definitely
the old course.
670
00:29:01,984 --> 00:29:03,025
I love that old course.
671
00:29:03,025 --> 00:29:04,565
Like, I would kill it there.
672
00:29:04,859 --> 00:29:08,220
Was just so much fun because I was I was the
type of kid that just liked climbing trees
673
00:29:08,220 --> 00:29:09,779
anyways and doing all kinds of stuff.
674
00:29:09,779 --> 00:29:12,000
So, of course, it was super fun for me.
675
00:29:12,115 --> 00:29:15,394
But, yeah, I just I wanted to touch on
something that you did say, you know, the about
676
00:29:15,394 --> 00:29:16,054
the challenges.
677
00:29:16,595 --> 00:29:20,304
It is about, you know, setting up a challenge
as a as a positive.
678
00:29:20,359 --> 00:29:20,519
Right?
679
00:29:20,519 --> 00:29:23,880
If you could set it up for a positive, not only
for your kids, but yourself, but the way you do
680
00:29:23,880 --> 00:29:29,400
that is not necessarily just just doing
physical exercise or or or having them
681
00:29:29,400 --> 00:29:30,345
incorporate things.
682
00:29:30,345 --> 00:29:33,244
It's teaching your kids to learn from failure.
683
00:29:33,944 --> 00:29:37,784
That's what they need to understand challenges
about because there's a difference between
684
00:29:37,784 --> 00:29:40,809
people who succeed and people who don't
succeed.
685
00:29:41,429 --> 00:29:48,224
And it's there's people who look at failure or
mistakes as an opportune to learn, grow, and
686
00:29:48,224 --> 00:29:54,164
improve, and there's people that see mistakes
and failures as debilitating, and they quit.
687
00:29:54,640 --> 00:29:56,819
There's only 2 there's only 2 different people.
688
00:29:56,880 --> 00:30:00,559
The successful people in the world fail
multiple times, and I'm talking about these
689
00:30:00,559 --> 00:30:05,085
people that have multibillionaire companies or
people that are super ripped like bodybuilders.
690
00:30:05,625 --> 00:30:10,825
These people have failed multiple times, but
the people that just didn't make it, because,
691
00:30:10,825 --> 00:30:13,569
like, and they say they have these stories
like, well, I could have done this.
692
00:30:13,569 --> 00:30:14,630
I could have done that.
693
00:30:14,769 --> 00:30:16,849
They usually quit after their first failure.
694
00:30:16,849 --> 00:30:18,710
They say, oh, I guess I can't do it.
695
00:30:18,855 --> 00:30:20,234
I guess that's not me.
696
00:30:20,454 --> 00:30:20,694
Right?
697
00:30:20,694 --> 00:30:22,394
They quit after that first failure.
698
00:30:22,934 --> 00:30:25,654
You need to look at those failures and say, you
know what?
699
00:30:25,654 --> 00:30:26,934
This is an opportunity to learn.
700
00:30:26,934 --> 00:30:28,634
This is an opportunity for me to grow.
701
00:30:28,799 --> 00:30:29,599
I messed up.
702
00:30:29,599 --> 00:30:32,240
So instead of getting upset about it, instead
of saying, hey.
703
00:30:32,240 --> 00:30:32,799
You know what?
704
00:30:32,799 --> 00:30:33,679
I can't do this.
705
00:30:33,679 --> 00:30:37,759
Instead, I'm gonna look at it and say, what can
I do differently if I'm if I'm in this scenario
706
00:30:37,759 --> 00:30:38,259
again?
707
00:30:38,575 --> 00:30:40,994
What did I mess up on here that I can fix?
708
00:30:41,454 --> 00:30:45,615
I'd rather look at that and see how I can
improve myself and say, oh, I messed up here.
709
00:30:45,615 --> 00:30:48,909
That means I guess I can't even do this thing
where I'm not good at thing.
710
00:30:49,450 --> 00:30:50,569
A lot of people think that.
711
00:30:50,569 --> 00:30:53,470
That's what scares a lot of people from being
successful.
712
00:30:53,529 --> 00:30:58,815
It scares a lot of people from from pursuing
their dreams and pursuing their careers but you
713
00:30:58,815 --> 00:31:03,299
need to teach your kids this when they're young
when they fail when they mess up Stop yelling
714
00:31:03,299 --> 00:31:04,259
at them for it.
715
00:31:04,259 --> 00:31:04,740
Say, okay.
716
00:31:04,740 --> 00:31:05,960
What did you do wrong?
717
00:31:06,180 --> 00:31:07,059
How can you fix this?
718
00:31:07,059 --> 00:31:08,680
What are you gonna do next time?
719
00:31:09,059 --> 00:31:09,559
Right?
720
00:31:09,859 --> 00:31:13,785
Start and and you can do this with exercise and
nutrition.
721
00:31:14,565 --> 00:31:15,065
Right?
722
00:31:15,285 --> 00:31:19,684
Oh, I do a protein waffles with my girls
usually on Friday mornings because they love
723
00:31:19,684 --> 00:31:20,585
protein waffles.
724
00:31:20,909 --> 00:31:21,309
Right?
725
00:31:21,309 --> 00:31:24,829
Use a Kodiak protein waffles, and we throw some
sprinkles in it.
726
00:31:24,829 --> 00:31:26,849
We got the unicorn sprinkles and everything.
727
00:31:27,390 --> 00:31:27,869
Right?
728
00:31:27,869 --> 00:31:33,484
And they loved they hardly ever spill now
because when they spilled the first times, I
729
00:31:33,484 --> 00:31:34,684
didn't yell at them for spilling.
730
00:31:34,684 --> 00:31:37,725
That's just gonna make them spill again and get
nervous when they do it next time.
731
00:31:37,725 --> 00:31:39,220
And their whole measuring cup.
732
00:31:39,359 --> 00:31:42,580
Now they're more careful because it's like, oh,
you spilled.
733
00:31:42,880 --> 00:31:43,940
Let's clean it up.
734
00:31:44,240 --> 00:31:45,359
What do you gotta do different?
735
00:31:45,359 --> 00:31:45,680
Oh, okay.
736
00:31:45,680 --> 00:31:47,664
Maybe holding hold it closer to the books.
737
00:31:47,664 --> 00:31:48,345
Man, this big bowl.
738
00:31:48,345 --> 00:31:49,984
I haven't pulled the measuring cup.
739
00:31:49,984 --> 00:31:51,904
My youngest one, she kept putting it over here.
740
00:31:51,904 --> 00:31:52,944
She was tilting it.
741
00:31:52,944 --> 00:31:55,505
And I am the first time she tilted it, I didn't
correct her.
742
00:31:55,505 --> 00:31:56,690
I just poured the milk.
743
00:31:56,929 --> 00:32:01,429
And she noticed that it wouldn't fill it up and
it kept spilling and on her own she turned it
744
00:32:01,569 --> 00:32:02,549
to where's level.
745
00:32:02,690 --> 00:32:04,484
That's a big deal for a three year old.
746
00:32:04,565 --> 00:32:05,204
Well, yeah.
747
00:32:05,204 --> 00:32:09,125
If she holds it, she holds it pretty level,
lets me pour the milk, lets me pour the powder
748
00:32:09,125 --> 00:32:12,424
dumps it in, doesn't spill a thing because she
learned from that.
749
00:32:12,730 --> 00:32:17,529
I taught her that so that how when you make
mistakes or when you do something that doesn't
750
00:32:17,529 --> 00:32:22,875
turn out quite right, you gotta figure out how
to fix it instead of getting upset own a
751
00:32:22,875 --> 00:32:24,974
tantrum and saying I'm not gonna do this
anymore.
752
00:32:25,355 --> 00:32:30,394
Now she understands my three year old
understands a cup here, hold the cup here, hold
753
00:32:30,394 --> 00:32:35,019
it over the bowl, hold it level so that dedac
and pour the milk and put the powder in, and I
754
00:32:35,019 --> 00:32:35,919
can dump it.
755
00:32:36,059 --> 00:32:36,539
Yeah.
756
00:32:36,539 --> 00:32:37,039
100%.
757
00:32:37,899 --> 00:32:41,075
Speaking of challenges, and teachings.
758
00:32:41,615 --> 00:32:42,914
We got a minute left.
759
00:32:43,695 --> 00:32:47,420
How about you redirect us to this boot camp
challenge you got going on?
760
00:32:47,660 --> 00:32:47,980
Yeah.
761
00:32:47,980 --> 00:32:54,059
So, those of you that saw the last episode, I
run a a a group called Patriot Dads Fitness.
762
00:32:54,059 --> 00:32:57,734

protector and leader your family's deserve.
763
00:32:57,734 --> 00:32:59,095

the corner Monday, June 10th is going to be

767
00:33:09,109 --> 00:33:10,630
Now you can sign up for this.
768
00:33:10,630 --> 00:33:11,849
It's a dog fitness.com.
769
00:33:12,964 --> 00:33:15,924
Backslash, and I'll have to I'll have to
remember.
770
00:33:15,924 --> 00:33:19,625
I think there's a little tax and dash marks in
there, so you might wanna post it somewhere,
771
00:33:19,765 --> 00:33:22,345
but it's a fitness leadership boot camp.
772
00:33:22,710 --> 00:33:22,950
Right?
773
00:33:22,950 --> 00:33:26,789
I believe it's fitness tech leadership tech
boot camp.
774
00:33:26,789 --> 00:33:29,210
I believe when I've hit the URL, it should be
correct.
775
00:33:29,509 --> 00:33:31,285
But I'm sure you're gonna post it somewhere.
776
00:33:31,285 --> 00:33:31,525
Yeah.
777
00:33:31,684 --> 00:33:33,205
