ОБ ЭТОМ ЭПИЗОДЕ
Storyteller series takes a deep-dive into Black Music genres. Today's episode looks at Congolese Rhumba and its pioneers from the mid1960's to the present day. The storyteller, Dr Glen Yearwood, indulges his passion for Congo Rhumba by focussing on his three heroes: Tabu Ley Rochereau, Franco Luambo Makiadi and Sam Mangwana and their innovation and contribution to the global musical phenomena.
The history of Rhumba is least understood and the storyteller joins the dots and historical narrative from Zaire's independence in 1960 from Belgium to the Republic of the Congo today, the only thing that is constant during the next 60 minutes is the power of the Congo river. A must for music lovers who require meaning and context behind their music.
