ОБ ЭТОМ ЭПИЗОДЕ
What does it really take to remain healthy, resilient, and operationally effective after nearly two decades in law enforcement?
In this episode of The Coptimizer Podcast, I sit down with longtime friend, police officer, trainer, gym owner, and tactical performance coach Anthony Shefferly. Anthony has spent his career living at the intersection of policing, athletics, and human performance. From college football and competitive CrossFit to narcotics, violent crime investigations, and coaching first responders, he's dedicated his life to understanding what makes people perform at their best.
Our conversation goes far beyond sets and reps. We explore why so many officers struggle with their health, the hidden costs of shift work and chronic stress, and why physical fitness and mental health can never be separated. We also discuss the evolution of CrossFit, what training methods actually translate to police work, the importance of strength and conditioning, the role of jiu-jitsu and problem-solving under stress, and why consistency matters far more than finding the "perfect" program.
Most importantly, we talk about playing the long game. Because the goal isn't simply surviving a career in law enforcement. It's building the kind of resilience that allows you to thrive during your career and still have a healthy, meaningful life waiting for you after retirement.
Whether you're a police officer, first responder, coach, or simply someone interested in human performance, this conversation is packed with practical insights and hard-earned wisdom from someone who truly walks the walk.
