ОБ ЭТОМ ЭПИЗОДЕ
Krakatoa Resources CEO Mark Major talked with Proactive about the latest assay results from the company’s Zopkhito Antimony-Gold Project in Georgia, where drilling has returned further high-grade antimony and gold mineralisation.
Major said the latest results provided further validation of the historical geological model, with continuity emerging as an important feature of the drilling campaign. He highlighted both the high-grade nature of the mineralisation and indications that gold may be more extensive within the system than previously understood.
The latest work has also identified a new gold-rich zone and mineralisation beyond the area currently incorporated into the resource. Major noted that more than 60 veins have historically been recorded across the system, while only 17 have been used for the resource. Krakatoa Resources is now gathering additional information on these areas, including veins enriched in gold.
Major said these additional zones could ultimately contribute to the economics of a future mining operation. The drilling campaign is progressing towards a maiden JORC-compliant resource, with the company moving from testing and validating the historical system towards establishing its potential scale and development pathway.
Krakatoa Resources plans further drilling this year and expects to move a second rig to the project soon. Metallurgical work is also due to begin, while Major said the company expects to have a JORC resource early next year before progressing further studies associated with project economics.
