ОБ ЭТОМ ЭПИЗОДЕ
According to her legal team, Christa Pike tried to help the IV team find a vein in her own arm during the September 30 execution attempt. She cooperated with the people executing her. It still failed. Two doses of pentobarbital, multiple needle sticks, blown veins, arms blistered and swollen. May Martinez — the mother of Colleen Slemmer, the nineteen-year-old Pike murdered in 1995 — was reportedly in or near that witness room. She waited thirty-one years. Retired FBI Special Agent Robin Dreeke and Tony Brueski walk through the human wreckage of what happened in that chamber — from a condemned woman helping the people trying to end her life, to a mother whose decades-long wait just got extended with no new date and no guarantee it would work the next time.
