Rick Mullen: Hey everybody. Welcome to Hatrix Unofficial Flyers Podcast. I'm Rick Mullen and we're gonna talk a little bit about the status of the Philadelphia Flyers after the last three games. So since our last podcast, the Flyers were on a tear there. They went three and they were playing some good hockey. They bounced back from a really bad start. And then these last three games, since the last time we spoke, the Flyers went the other way again. they look Not as bad as the original nine games, but they they had a lot of holes in their games and they you know they haven't been playing well at all. They lost to the ducks five to four, they lost to the Columbus Blue Jackets four to three, and then they just lost to the Capitals five to two. And in each game, the it was something a little different. It was just you know, against the Ducks, they came out. And they scored two quick goals. And then I think they shut down thinking we got this team. And and they didn't. You know, the Ducks came out hard and they started playing and scoring. And the Flyers had to turn it on and you know they were able to get two more goals. But ultimately they fell to the Ducks five to four. So I think they took the Ducks for granted and kind of played down a little bit the rest of that game. And that could be because they have a young team and the young team needs to ki stay consistent and they just kinda use this as a learning tool, which okay, whatever. we shouldn't have lost, but we did. That game sh the Flyers should have won. And then we go out against the Blue Jackets, who are a terrible team. And within that first period, the Flyers gave up three goals. It was three to nothing. Three to nothing. From my understanding of from what some of the Players had said that Tocket really handed it to them in between periods that game. And the Flyers fought their way back. They had a better second half of the second period. They had a good third period. They ended up tying Columbus. And then ultimately, bad, bad decision by Mavy Mishka. Unfortunately, he was last man back. And instead of staying back and covering the point in overtime, he rushed the net for a rebound. And it was there. If you watched it live, it was hard to see. You just saw Mattvey Mishkov crashing the net. But if you actually went back and looked at the tape on that, Matve went in because the puck was just sitting there and he thought he could get in there and knock it in the open net, but he couldn't get there. The puck came out and the Columbus Blue Jackets went down on a two and and they ended up scoring on Flodar. So Flyers lose that game in overtime, four to three. And then yesterday they ended up playing the Capitals and they lost five to two. And that was a totally different game. The Flyers definitely didn't look good. but what was more so the reason why they lost was because they did not look like a confident or a a or they don't look like a team that was confident in their physical abilities. Hopefully that made sense. They look nervous, they look scared. Washington is a little bit of an older team and they are a much bigger team. And if you watched most of those plays, this team looked scared to play against them. And that I mean, maybe that's not the right word, tentative, possibly, right? but they were definitely aware of Washington's bigger players. If they had a chance to go into a corner. If they were in a foot race with a a capital, they didn't. They let the capital go there first, they didn't want to get hit. when they got hit, it was you know, they got hit, they got knocked down. I mean, Tyson Forster, I don't know what happened to him, but he got knocked over by a guy maybe half his size and just went right down like a sack of potatoes. I mean, it was it was ugly, it was just Everything that could go wrong physically for that team yesterday did. And they have to learn from it. They gotta learn that they you have to fight through your checks. Like nobody's gonna do it for you. And if you don't fight through these checks, you're gonna lose the game, period. it was it was an ugly game and there and there was a lot being said after that game. Katourier was in the locker room calling the team soft, that they're playing soft and I I said it a few times at the beginning of this year that the team had no heart. they were playing soft other than a few guys. And they looked soft yesterday. Almost every one of them looked soft yesterday. It was not it was not a good game. They were tentative, afraid, a little nervous at that again from what it looked like. And you know, Couturier obviously noticed it too, and he actually called the team out on it. more intriguing was the interview with Nick Sealer, which I I I think I I think we got an inside glimpse of some problem that's happening inside that locker room. And we've been talking about, or at least I have, I've been talking about it a little bit through this year, that there's something going down in that locker room that they absolutely need a new voice in that locker room. It this is too long. This these things have been happening with this team for a long, long time. And I I think From what Sealer says, in his interview, which was pretty much that everyone has to stop worrying about me, me, me and points and start playing for the crest on your jersey. And once they do, they'll be better off. There'll be a better team for it. So it it sounds like, and you're only speculating, it it sounds like he's mad or upset because there's guys who want points or they're more worried about getting a goal or a point than the Bettermen of the team. That's a that's that's that's a big thing to say. That's a big thing to say on TV. And I've seen this through the years on on quite a few teams. Like it even happened with teams I played for. You know, there's there are guys who are like Nick Sealer, and you know, sorry, forgive me, but there are dime a dozen. They play a role, and and Nick plays a role good on this team. He does. I like Nick Sealer. I'm not talking poorly about him, but Nick Sealer's job is to not give up a goal, to block some shots, and be physical. And he's good at it. His job is not to score goals. His job is not to skate the puck up the ice. And he doesn't. He doesn't. He knows his position and he plays his position the way he's supposed to. So I give him kudos for that. However, there's a lot of guys who play positions like that and and I hate to say it, but they they do resent some of these other guys who have a skill set different from theirs. And if you read between the lines with what, in my opinion, just in my opinion, but if you read between the lines with what Nick is saying, you know, who could he be talking about? Like what guys on this team when when he says something like that, would come to your mind about wanting goals and points and Mavvey Mishkov, Trevor Zegris, maybe, right? Guy like two of our best forwards. I mean, and that's basically what it comes down to because no nobody else is getting goals or worrying about points. You know, you're not seeing a cherry light it up or Coots light it up or anybody else. It's those two guys. So when he says something like that, my mind goes directly to those two players. And this this is where locker rooms or have issues, right? Because again, I I've seen it before. I've seen guys who are gritty guys, work harder guys, blue collar guys, just not gel with a guy who has skill because they just can't relate to their games. And in all honesty, it is not Nick Sealer's job to relate to that guy's game. It's Nick Sealer's job to play his position well and do it good and focus on himself. That's Nick Sealer's job. To be a good teammate, focus on himself and do what the coach is asking of him. When when you look at guys like Zegris and Mishkov and Martone, they have a totally different, totally different skill set. They have a totally different plan of attack that you may or may not agree with when you're one of those gritty guys, like dump it in if you don't have a play, back check, right? That's not what wins games. It's not what wins games. These skilled players need the ability to take chances. They do. They they you're not going to win a game unless you let them have the chances that they take. And some they're going to fail one and some they might turn over the puck badly. But you need to know that that's a possibility when this guy's carrying the puck. But you also need to know if that move or that play that that player is trying to make he makes it Chances are the puck's in that net. So you can't take away from a Zegris, a Martin, a Mishkov. You can't take away from them that opportunity to try something. Because them trying is what's winning games. And let's go back to what Mishkoff does. Mishkoff skates that puck around that zone. And yeah, he holds it probably more than most players on this team. And I'm glad he does. And I think more guys on this team should because he waits and he waits and he waits and he creates that play that no one else sees coming. And that's why he's our leading scorer on this team. Because he has to create. And the only way to create is by taking chances. Now, don't be wrong, some chances are obviously not what you should be doing. And maybe Nick Sealer is saying, if Mishkov wasn't you worried about scoring that overtime goal and racing in there as the last man back and trying to put that loose puck in the net, and if he just stayed back, more than likely we wouldn't have lost that game. Maybe that's what he's trying to talk about. Maybe. Maybe that makes sense. And it kind of does. When I watched that play live, I couldn't believe Mishkov went in. But after looking at the replay and seeing the puck kind of floundering over there, I was like, you what? Maybe, you know, he could, he could, he could have definitely knocked that puck in the net. So I I I get what Nick hopefully is trying to say. Is like on a play like that, maybe not don't do that. I I get it. But it just seems like for him to say it out in public and not after the game with the Blue Jackets when they lost, but when to say it against the Capitals, after the Capitals game, there there's a disconnect in that locker room. And one of the main things that, you know, if you look back, now we're gonna jump over to Tocket. Just seems to have these teams that have these locker room issues. And I don't know what it is. I don't know if like Tocket is the good old boy, those gritty guys, they're there, there's guys, they're his boys, and that's it. And he can relate to what they're saying, and he gives them a little too much rope. And because of the he gives them a little too much rope, you have other guys that are too willing to say things, right? Out there and calling people out, but maybe not exactly by their name or their number. This this team is struggling right now. There's no doubt about it. And I'm sure there's every player in that locker room doesn't want to be in the position they're in right now. But but but they are. And I think not rightfully so, they're blaming maybe each other or starting to. And that's creating a divide that you can kind of see in the press conferences, you can kind of see across the board here, you know. So There's a there's again, there's things happening in that locker room that shouldn't be happening. And it's not for the betterment of this team. So what do the Flyers do? And this is where I like we talked about it a a few episodes ago. Is Tocket the right coach for this team? Well, since last we spoke, Tockett's been letting Mishkop play like 18 plus minutes a night. I think he got twenty one minutes the other day. Which is good, he should be playing. And and and in in all honesty, he should be. He should be getting that time because he's not really that overtime, okay, maybe, right? Maybe. But most of the time he's playing pretty good. Every now and then he makes a bad pass or he turns the puck over, but most of the time he he's doing what he's supposed to be doing within his role. He's supposed to be creating offense and he is he's creating goals. He's doing well. So I think Tocket maybe, maybe turned the page, maybe he was told this is what you got to do, and this is what He's doing because he's told what he's got to do. It's hard, it's hard to tell. we're not in that room. We don't know if Danny's talking to him, but strange that he throughout the whole year, he's like using Mishkaf 14 minutes, 14 minutes. He starts getting called out on it and he then he defends it and says, we're trying to hide him, we're trying to protect him, we're trying not to put him out there at certain situations. And then there's a little bit of blow up in the media and what he's being used at, and now of a sudden talk it's like playing him over 18 minutes. And and that's what Takett should have been doing all year long. Okay. And then he wouldn't have this wouldn't be an issue. But it it you look at that and you think, okay, why is he doing that now? Should we just be happy that he is and move on? Or is it because Danny Brere went and told him, Yo, this has to stop. You got to start playing Mishkov. So is that that little piece in the back of my head is always thinking Tucket's only doing this because he was told to do it. So I don't have full confidence in Tacket believes in what he's doing. He's just doing it because he has to. And and that's a horrible way to think about Tocket all the time, but that's what it feels like. That's the position Tacket kind of puts you in. You know, Tocket has a game that's kind of getting carried away and instead of slowing down the pace and calling it a calling a timeout or something, he doesn't use it. So he's like coaching poorly on the bench. He's putting wrong guys out at the wrong time. That still hasn't changed. It's it's weird. It's just weird. It's weird watching him coach and I I I don't I don't quite enjoy it. His system isn't working on this team. And it's not his fault, right? Per se. Per se. You know, if he is trying to coach a certain way and that's it, like you hired me. You know my system. You know, we went over it in an interview. This is how I play. This is what I think. This is what what I want. And you know, Danny Briere and Jonesy hired him. They knew what they were getting, but now that he's here, maybe his system doesn't work with these. Players. these players just are not the right players for a system. So now what do they say? Six seven, right? Six seven. What do you do? What do you do? A, you try to force the players you have to play it and it's not working. You know, B, you're the GM and you fire the coach because the system doesn't work with the team you have. Or C, you start getting rid of some of your team and start replacing them with people who will fit the coach's system. There's really no other way around it. Either play through it and then hope the guys can do it or and they don't and they just fail. Or you fire the coach or you get different players. This you know, that's not rocket science. This is this is it. You know, and it sounds like right now they're trying to play through this. They haven't made really any big moves. They couldn't, right? Like they had guys hurt and they had to bring up people from the the phantoms and know I guess those guys are getting close to coming back but now when they come back you know what what happens here and maybe maybe a lot happens here maybe you know Tippin and TK come back there aren't any moves they keep the coach and just those two guys coming back alone solidifies the forward lines a little bit better puts a vet on each team each line and the team plays better because they have a little bit more veteran players up there like who helping these kids. And I guess that's what we're gonna see. That's what I'm assuming is going to happen. There's tons of rumors out there that Danny Briere is looking for that center and he's trying to trade from a position of strength in his wings. you see one report coming out that they're looking at Nazer or Nazar from Chicago or Moore. they're looking at Strommel. There's been a little bit of talk about Shane Wright, but I don't think really from the Flyers. I think that's just reporting, hope wishful reporting out there. you know, that it there's also reports that the Flyers have on multiple, multiple times have gone to the Red Wings trying to get Larkin to come over here. And Larkin keeps turning them down, not once, not twice, not three times, but like four, five, six, seven times. Like It it's like it's like a guy asking a girl out on a date and she re you know, refuses they date him, keeps telling him no, eight, nine, ten times. That's what the Flyers in the media sound like right now with Dylan Larkin. He will not come here, he won't even think about it. And would you want to come here? You know, Dylan Larkin's trying to get out of the Red Wings because they don't make the playoffs. And why, why would he come here? We're not ready yet. This team has not proven consistency yet. And guys like him are not going to want to come here. Just not going to want to. So there's a lot of work to do on this team. And I and in all honesty, and we've talked about this too. this team probably isn't made up correctly. And I said it before like we have we have pieces of players that just do not gel together. And how do you how do you go? And fix it when you have guys with no trade clauses, you have other guys who are like third line grinders with no trade clauses. even if they didn't have a no trade clause, who wants them? Probably nobody. Like, who wants Bunny? Nobody who was Wave, we signed him late. Devorac, do you think he would get anything like that would help this team? And he's got no trade clause, I believe, right? Achari, I don't I don't think anybody would even want him either. it's the the Danny buried himself into this mess, sadly. And now he's kind of a little bit right back where he was. Unless something happens and we don't see coming, which I'm praying is out there. But he's got some not long, long contracts, but he's got some longer contracts than what he probably wants. And some of these have like limited or no movement causes. And you can't get rid of them. There's there's no way to fix it, except if they these guys agree to go and somebody wants them. So I think looking at this from up high, right? Who's like the one guy everybody wants from this team? It seems like everybody wants them. And and it's Tippett. Tippett's name is there all the time. I I really like Tippett. I I think, Tippett gets a really bad rap from most people. I think Tippett is a prototypical power forward. He's got size and speed that these this team doesn't have. you could see it in the Capitals game last night. my guess is if Tippett played, he would have been burying some people last night and it would have changed some things up. But they're gonna end up, in my opinion, probably moving Tippett because he's the only one really movable that. Isn't named Tyson Forrester, who, dear lord, what what do they see in this kid? I don't know. I don't know. Could he be better down the road? Sure. But in this season here that we're in right now, he should be playing well. He should be strong on the puck. He just gets knocked off the puck so simple. Like someone leans into him, he falls down. He can't skate. He's got no wheels. He shoots wide, high. He got a goal the other day because he kind of just tossed it on the net. It was Lucky as hell, just slipped through the goalies pads and went in. Like this this kid may have something down the road. However, in my opinion, if there are teams like are being reported that they're after TK, obviously somebody likes him. They see something in him and they think probably just like the Flyers, like this kid's got a future. But we have a bunch of those kinds of players on this team. If that other team's willing to give us like a two C, take it, man. Take it and run. We don't have anything on this team close to a true decent center. You have Noah Kate centering Martone and Mishkoff. every day it's painful to watch. Yeah, he scored the other day, but could you imagine if we just had one good center on this team that could play? with Mishkov and and Martone or one one two punch. if you had a s a a good number two that could play with Ziegris. but instead you gotta try to turn Ziegris into a center, and he's not, he's not. Z Ziegris is I like Ziegris, he's got some skill sets. I wouldn't trade him in for the world, but zegris is soft. He's soft, he's scared, he's one of those guys that doesn't want to go to the corner. He may muck it around and act tough after a thing after a play and like yell at somebody or whatever, but he can't back it up, he can't fight, he's he doesn't throw big hits, and and he can, and that's fine, man. That's fine. Fine, I don't worry about Ziegress. I'm not gonna compare him to Panterin, but think of Ziegress like that scoring winger. everybody needs that scoring winger. And I and I truly think there's another level to Ziegris' game. If they could put a good center with him that he himself can score, that would take some pressure off of Ziegris. Because in all honesty, what are these what do these other teams do? Like They see Zegris' line getting on the ice and they say, okay, just everyone defend Ziegris because nobody else can do anything. And that's it. They shut him down. It's too, it's too easy. At least with like Mishkov and Martone, you know, a lot of times it's one or the other that's actually getting, you know, opportunities. Yeah, most of it's coming from Mishkov. And let's talk about that because that's kind of what happened last night. You know, you have Mishkov Martoni out there skating with Cates, and the Capitals were just like, you know we're gonna do? We're just gonna check these guys. they're not really fleet of foot, neither of them. they're not super fast. Every time they hitch puckle, just put you know, put them into the boards. And they and he did. And and and and they pretty much shut that that line down. That line didn't really have much going at all all night long. Mishkoff did get a power play goal, which was great. You know, he's he's leading the team, but it was very easy to shut them down. Now, if they had a center that could play, right? If they had like Maddie Breniers in the middle. That that may be different. And what's funny? like the the Flyers fans are so desperate for a center that Maddie Beneers is exciting. And he really isn't. He doesn't have great points. But to us, he's phenomenal. Like, we need Maddie Beneers. We need Maddie Beneers. He's a good player. He would absolutely be a half-decent number two, better than probably everything we have. But We're so hungry for that one C that we're turning this Maddie Beneers into a Leo Carlson type center. We need him. He's a must, right? Because we can't get our hands on a real number one. So it's it's it's really gonna be an ugly year if it stays the way it is. It really is. the bright spot on this is a little bit is like Cole Kane Kanoble, watching him play. I really like the kid. The kid's got some guts. He gets out there and he goes into all the dangerous places. He skates hard. He four checks. he's trying his best. He's crashing the net. Like he definitely, definitely, in my opinion, he deserves a spot on that third or fourth line for sure. No doubt about it. It's just a shame that you have guys like Koots are at the end of his career. All due respect to Koots. I loved him on our team for the years we've had him. Did we slate him up too high on lines that he shouldn't have been in through his career? Yeah. Because again, we didn't have a one C. We'd move him up. And he wasn't. You know, Ko Koots was always very good, defensive forward, not a big, huge scorer. Gave his heart. I respect that. I really do. But right now at this stage of his career, coots is toast. He just is. He scored last night by a tip in, which was great. You know, we'll take it. But he don't have an upside here. His really slow. Him trying to skate with the puck with a decent winger, he can't keep up with him. It's it's very hard for for this team to develop offense or create offense when you have Cates, Devorak, Coots as your top three centers. It's almost impossible. I don't see how that changes anytime soon. I think the Flyers are going to be living like this for a long time here, unless they can get rid of them, which I don't know if they can, probably not. The these centers don't want to come here. You know, they they just don't want to play for this team yet. And a lot of it has to do with how we're playing and our history and not making the playoffs, which makes sense. And I'm okay with it. We are what we are. You know, every fan out there wants us to get better. know Danny and Jonesy wants us to get better. again, Danny right now though, he is looking at this team and he is scared to pull the trigger on any good trade. He's scared. He just is. Like he doesn't want to make a mistake. He's afraid, like, hey, I'm gonna get rid of Forster. nail for this guy and then Forster is going to be incredible next year and it's going to come back and bite me in the butt. Right. And that's his mentality. He doesn't want to overpay. He rather takes he'd rather take chances on you know like a bunning, a chari, a Eurochek, a Benoit. That's got to stop. Like that, that right there, all of that has to stop. Like if you don't have a good person to bring in, don't bring in that garbage. Bring your kids up and just let them play because it does nothing for us to put bunning on the ice and then get rid of them next year when a bump or a Lechenko could have learned this year. So again, I'm not saying these guys are all ready for the NHL, but Danny is not helping this team by bringing in players like that. He's actually hurting the development of this team because those guys are god awful. We can't get rid of them. And they're blocking kids from learning. It'd be different if the team was winning and you could say, okay, well, they got to keep playing because we're winning. But getting our butts kicked almost every game, let the kids come up and let them play. You know, I I would love to see Jet Lichchenko right now up here on the first line with Martone and Mishkoff. Not that it would be fantastic, but the kids got wheels. He sees the ice well. And and I do think he'd be better than Kate's. I I I I do. I think he'd be better than Kate's he may not score goals, but I think he would create more than what Kate says with his speed. We ain't doing it though because they want him to cook, they want him to get better, they want him to play in the AHL more and learn more. Okay, I get it. I get it. But I was thinking I was listening to a podcast a little earlier today and they said that they do think that Lechenko will be up in couple weeks, just giving him an opportunity. I hope so. There's no there's no reason why not to. There really there really isn't. What what's the worst that we can happen? We can lose? you're gonna tell me it's gonna stun his growth? No, it won't. You think it's gonna stun his growth by leaving the AHL when he could come up here and play center with Martone and Mishkov? Come on, man. come on. This team is not built to win in any way, shape, or form. They played pretty damn good in the in the playoffs last year. before getting to the playoffs, they really did. They went on a run, but they had to play like perfect hockey to get there, and they did. But then you go and you bring in Benoit, Yurichek, Bunting, Achari. That was it. Everyone else bought in guys that helped their team get better. So it's not surprising when you look at it and say, Man, these teams are beating us this year. Well, yeah, because they went out and got some guys that helped their team. Where we stand, we actually went backwards. We went backwards. We went backwards. How do you expect to win when you just about barely won last year? Right? When you get worse players to fill in the holes. So anyway, I'm I'm ranting here because I I'm getting getting to the point where something has to give. It's either gotta talk it's gotta go, or we gotta start making trades and just giving up on some of these kids to bring in different kids that have potential. And I think that's what Danny's got to look at. Like if you give up a a a Forster, but you're getting a Beneers, it's worth it. You know what I mean? Do you really think Tyson Forster is going to have like that much more numbers than Beneers? Probably not. And veneers will help this team way more, I think, probably than Forster will. Now, I could eat my words two, three, four years down the road, but that's my opinion. I think it'd kind of be a wash and more so in our favor because we need that center. We need them. That'll give us the ability that, like, if we can still hunt for a center, right? For that number one, but we don't have to rely on Kate, Coots, and Dvorak. Like, we can let one or two of those guys go. that's the goal here is to get rid of those guys. So let's see what Danny does. There's a lot of speculation out there. you're listening to these podcasts and reading these articles, and it sounds like the Flyers are well and this is the X guys out there that are following, right? He's trying, he's trying, he's trying. Yeah. I I hope he is, and I hope he I hope he does more than try. Because he either has to come out and and I know it I know a GM won't say this, but just by looking at what they do, you can tell what he's doing. So if he gives up on this year, Danny, right? Danny needs to try to figure out a way to get rid of these Benoit's and Eurochaks and Bunnings and just let them go and bring the kids up and let them play. That is enough to signal that you're trying to just get younger and you're trying to let them grow. And and the expectations on this team would be a little different because we would all look at it and say, okay, we got a bunch of kids here and they're trying to grow and it's understandable. But Playing these other guys and not letting these kids play, I think it hurts. Some people will say, hey, they need to develop down the AHL. That's where you learn everything. And, you know, there's some, there's some definite what's the word I'm looking for? That it's it's true to a degree. It really is. But there comes a point in time where they need to come up. They need to come up because they need to They need to feel how much stronger these guys are. They need to see how much faster these games are. They have to figure out their timing, how fast they have to make a play or a decision. And if your team's bad, the way it's built, the these some of these kids should be getting a shot more so than not. Right. Again, going back to Luchenko. I I don't think Lechenko is really any worse than Dvorak or Kate's. Not that bad. Not not that much of a difference. he looked okay in his power play game or that pa I'm sorry, the penal playoff game that he played. Like he didn't look horrible. He did exactly the same stuff that you know Cateson did nothing, right? But he got a chance to skate. He got a chance to get some of the bugs out of his game. I I I bring him up, man. Let him let him let him get on that line with Martone and Mishkov and let's see what this kid can do. And worst case scenario, you send him back down. You know, can send him back down. This this isn't gonna hurt his development. It might actually help him play with better people. I mean do you think like a Playing down there with the AHL, playing what, with Aston Reese and what's his name? Foot. You you you mean you think he's learning more down there with those two? I I don't know. I I have a different mentality. If you're not going to win games, then just bring them up. Let them learn. Let him let him get games under his belt and let them learn here. You know, if have a chance of winning here and you think he's gonna hurt you, okay, maybe it makes sense. But the way this team is right now, there ain't no reason not to bring this kid up and let him let him get some games under his belt. So anyhow. what do I think is going to happen? This is my call. maybe I'm wrong. We'll see soon, maybe, but I do think that there are teams that want to make trades. I do think though everybody is waiting for Larkin to go before anyone else is willing to give up assets that think they're in the running for Larkin. So I I really think most of this is stagnated by Larkin not being moved yet. I think once teams know Larkin's gone, they didn't get him. I think that changes our our mentality here. I think there's gonna be other teams that are gonna say, All right, I missed out on Larkin. Let me go back to the Flyers and talk about TK or talk about Tippet or maybe a Tyson Forster or maybe a package of something. They'd be more than willing to try to tweak it if they're not getting the guy they want. So I really think the NHL is trying to just on hold right now until this Larkin mess. Fixes itself. There was just a report out there this morning that Larkin is not playing. He'll never play another game for the Detroit Red Wings again. That they are holding him off the ice for trade purposes. He done you know, obviously they don't want him to get hurt. They want to make sure that they're gonna get a return for this guy. And Larkin's team is supposedly upset because He feels that there have been plenty of decent offers within that 10 team list that he gave that Detroit just is choosing not to accept. So Larkin's camp is you got plenty of offers for me and you just chose not to take them because I keep waiting for a bigger or better offer, right? But Larkin feels that that's like that's it. Like the pressure is on Detroit now. Get him out of there, make the move, accept one of these positions. I hope it happens fast because I do think that once he goes, there's going to be more opportunity for other teams to finally make some tweaking trades of their own. All right. So flyers are off until Sunday, I believe. we got a couple days off. A couple days for Tippet, TK, everyone to get a little bit healthier, maybe get back on this roster. I do see that I think they sent Gaucher back down. And again, it's probably because the f I I don't and I don't know, I didn't look, but probably because the fans are playing and the heat they could use them down there, but also probably because three days from now they ain't gonna need One of these or two of these guys will be back playing and they're gonna keep them down there. So we will try to get another podcast out once either something happens, maybe Danny Brer pulls off a nice trade, or we'll get one out after the game on Sunday. Until then, let's hope, let's hope something changes on this team. Let's hope, let's hope Rick Tocket maybe changes his system. Maybe he changes the system to fix his team or Danny Brera fixes the team to fit Tocket's system. I don't know. What I do know though is I'm not really confident in Tocket. I really am not. I I don't think watching him that he's a good head coach. I think he's a good guy. He's got a lot of buy-in from the team, but I think he's more of an assistant than a head coach. So I hope Danny sees this and Danny gets better players. Not necessarily the fit tockett system, but hopefully gets better players, gets a one two C one or two D. And then next year in the offseason, maybe they move Tacket and get somebody else in here. Because Tacket does not have a great reputation, in my opinion, to develop youth. He he's he doesn't like everything that followed Tocket prior to getting here was like this locker room drama and this and that, the other thing. And it's here now. It's here now with the Flyers. So there's something off man, and it's Gotta, it's gotta fix itself. The Flyers have so much drama on this team year after year after year, and it's hard to handle. It's either an inept GM, a bad coach, one or the other. It's always something, it's something, it's something. Picking the wrong people in the draft, like we could have had Caulfield, instead we have York. Like, come on, how do you make that mistake? Hextal, I think, right? Hextal, he could have had McCar. He picks Patrick Nolan. Or Patrick, right? Forget his name, Patrick, right? Nolan. I forget his name, Patrick. it just seems to happen over and over and over again. Like there's a curse here that needs to go. They they they, you know what? They need to bring in somebody to get in there and bless that room, do whatever they have to do, like sage it, put smoke in there, clear it out, go up to the front offices, clear it out. Start the heck over, man. Start using your brains and not just picking up trash, everyone else's trash. Develop this team correctly. Give them the right coach that's gonna help them play correctly. And right now, this is just not it. It's either again going back to what I said, they have pieces, but they all don't gel together. That has to change. That comes from your GM. Your GM has to put together. a line up that gels. He has to. He needs two. And what he bought in here was just a bunch of slugs at this point over this last offseason. Besides Wall. Wall Wall, I know has had some bad games, but Wall was a better upgrade to Erson. It made sense. But everyone else it's not panning out. Be awesome to wave him, scratch send them down. Do whatever you got to do. It's just not going to It just doesn't help. None of them help. So, anyway, again, let's talk again next week. Let's get through the games this weekend. Let's hope Dylan Larkin gets traded before Friday night and the rest of the league can move on and start tweaking their lineups as well. And until then, go Flyers.
