00:00:01
Speaker 1: The frames per second podcast.
00:00:09
Speaker 2: Welcome to another episode of the frame second podcast i'm host of the evening my name is mike next to me i have spike what up crossing spike it's ken hola and on his way is rod yo and we are reviewing buddy this is the new movie from casper kelly i imagine y'all are probably not familiar with casper kelly.
00:00:31
Speaker 1: Cool.
00:00:31
Speaker 2: Nobody watched Adult.
00:00:34
Speaker 1: Swim back in the.
00:00:36
Speaker 2: No, I don't watch Adult Swim.
00:00:37
Speaker 1: I'm familiar with Adult Swim.
00:00:38
Speaker 2: So the only thing I know Casper Kelly from is he did Too Many Cooks. And Too Many Cooks, if you get the time, go home and watch it.
00:00:47
Speaker 1: It's like.
00:00:49
Speaker 2: A 13-minute long TV show intro.
00:00:53
Speaker 1: Okay.
00:00:53
Speaker 2: Which sounds ridiculous, but it is hilarious.
00:00:58
Speaker 1: But Buddy... About a unicorn Barney.
00:01:05
Speaker 2: A unicorn Barney ripoff that is terrorizing children.
00:01:09
Speaker 1: So let's go around the room. Quick thoughts. Spike, how much did you hate this? You know what?
00:01:16
Speaker 3: I could see this being a good idea. You sitting around getting high. Like you're just smoking weed. And you're like, man, what if Barney was a fucking man? And was killing kids. I could definitely see somebody having this idea and thinking it was good, but the execution just wasn't there for me. It was just too, like, it felt too sterile. It was almost like severance or something like that. The environment was just sterile. I didn't like it. I don't like those shows either.
00:01:46
Speaker 1: Did you take it too serious?
00:01:48
Speaker 3: No, I understood what it was, kind of like Night at Freddy's or whatever it may be, but it still was, I just didn't like the setting. But I've never liked those. I didn't like Barney as a child. I always hated that aesthetic.
00:02:02
Speaker 1: You sure?
00:02:03
Speaker 4: I'm positive I didn't watch Barney, bro.
00:02:06
Speaker 1: You got kids. You got kids.
00:02:07
Speaker 5: You might have been on kids. Isn't Barney a pedo or something like that? You watched Sesame Street, though, right?
00:02:13
Speaker 1: I watched Sesame Street, but I didn't watch Barney.
00:02:15
Speaker 4: Barney got on my nerves.
00:02:17
Speaker 2: I always hated it.
00:02:18
Speaker 3: So this was like just an extension of that.
00:02:20
Speaker 2: But the idea wasn't terrible at all.
00:02:24
Speaker 1: Okay. Rob, what did you think?
00:02:27
Speaker 5: I thought it was really creative I was like oh okay this is what we doing Or whatever so Once I realized that's what we were doing I was like okay I can get with this I can get this a shot And.
00:02:41
Speaker 2: Yeah yeah For the most part I thought it was really creative.
00:02:47
Speaker 5: Approach to a film And then they added the Real world element to it I was glad that it broke it up eventually Or whatever, because I'm not sure if I wanted to stay in that world the whole time, even though I thought it was really creative.
00:03:02
Speaker 1: I just didn't want it. I felt weird. You felt weird? Yeah, same.
00:03:06
Speaker 2: That's what I was trying to say, too.
00:03:08
Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah. I felt weird and weird watching it. Typically, it's like a kid show. Yeah. So it's just like watching these kids on screen interact with a killer....
00:03:19
Speaker 4: Like you know um muppet baby muppet or whatever like it's like oh this just feels weird i feel weird in here watching this like with other people grown-ups like yeah that exactly it felt weird um so but i but i i like that though i like i like the fact that they can make you feel weird about it or whatever so but um but no for the most part i thought it was really creative okay um I think creative is the good word, because I think when I was watching, I was like, the love was the word that kept coming to mind, but I think creative is the thing that I liked about it. I didn't know anything about it. I saw y'all talking about it in the chat. I thought y'all were talking about somebody specific, didn't want to say his name. And then I think I was going to... Okay, so my story is that I saw this as a palate cleanser to the Doll Stars. So this was part of the double feature that I went to. But I enjoyed it.
00:04:21
Speaker 1: It was weird.
00:04:22
Speaker 4: I was waiting for like, why are people talking about this movie and entertained by this movie? But it was funny. I did find myself laughing. And unlike you, Spike, and I think maybe you, Rod, I probably could have stayed there watching it.
00:04:40
Speaker 2: I would have walked out.
00:04:42
Speaker 4: I swear it was that close when it when it started over i was like wait are we just is this all we doing but then it kept building and building i was like oh this could be interesting if this was the movie so i love the creativeness with it i think um i think mike had mentioned before and you know i'll be going to see these bc rated horror movies before like comedy horror is kind of becoming a thing now as well so Taking something like this.
00:05:09
Speaker 1: And turning it into a killer, bro. I feel like there.
00:05:15
Speaker 3: Was rumors about this movie for a long time.
00:05:17
Speaker 1: So I liked it. There was what?
00:05:18
Speaker 2: Rumors about this movie. Like that they had a killer.
00:05:21
Speaker 3: I've been hearing about this type of movie about like a killer Barney for a long time.
00:05:26
Speaker 1: But I think you're right.
00:05:28
Speaker 4: I could see maybe, I don't know where he got the idea from, but sitting around high and they're like, hey man.
00:05:35
Speaker 1: What if Barney was crazy? You know, so- I like it, but I enjoy the movie. I enjoy the movie.
00:05:42
Speaker 2: Yeah, I had seen the trailers. I definitely had wanted to see this movie. Again, having only seen too many cooks.
00:05:50
Speaker 1: I was like, all right, well, I'm on board.
00:05:55
Speaker 2: I thought for the first half, I was like, oh, they're really going to make us stay in this little kid's land. I was like, all right, that works for me. But I think the execution was excellent. I think the kids did a great job. And I like an old girl from Penguin. I can't remember her name. But, yeah, man, I thought this was great. I thought this was great. I thought it was fun. But at the same time, it was very creepy. But, yeah, I thought they did a great job, man. So we're going to try to get through this one, y'all. So it starts with the intro to a 90s show called It's Buddy. That seems to be about a unicorn with magic powers. We meet characters, the human characters, Freddy, Wade, Josh, and Oliver. We also meet Buddy's co-host, Betty Bunny. We also have Mailman Miles and Nurse Nancy. And then the other objects that can talk or whatever.
00:06:53
Speaker 1: We have Mr.
00:06:54
Speaker 2: Mailbox, Couchy the Couch, Clocky the Clock, Strappy the Backpack, Trashy the Trash Can, and Charlie the Train.
00:07:03
Speaker 1: So.
00:07:03
Speaker 2: I guess y'all already kind of said what y'all initially thought about being.
00:07:06
Speaker 1: In this world. Did you mention the mailman? I sure did. Oh, okay.
00:07:11
Speaker 2: Yeah, y'all already kind of went over what y'all thought being in this world. So let's go ahead and jump to the next question. We get closer with Josh, who seemed to not want to be a part of a dance party that they're planning. So, Rob, what did you think about what happened to Josh? Like, did this come as a shock or were you kind of like, okay, well, here we go?
00:07:31
Speaker 1: You can kind of pause for a second. I'm sorry. Jalen, if... Oh, is he there?
00:07:37
Speaker 4: I forgot to restart the card, so I didn't know.
00:07:41
Speaker 1: Jalen, do you want.
00:07:41
Speaker 4: I think I forgot to restart the recording. Do you want me to start and stop it over? It's all rolling into one.
00:07:48
Speaker 1: I can't hear you. You just let it go? All right.
00:07:55
Speaker 2: Go ahead, Rob.
00:07:58
Speaker 5: Nah, this was really, really good because... At first, he was trying to play nice. He's like, no, I really want you to, you know.
00:08:08
Speaker 2: Wear the shoes and be part of the dance party.
00:08:11
Speaker 1: He's like, no. And he just, like, just progressively got. Like, no, put the damn shoes up. And then we put them over the cake and boom. I was like, oh, my God.
00:08:23
Speaker 5: This is wild. This is wild. The buildup was really, really good. The buildup was really, really good.
00:08:30
Speaker 1: Because I was wondering when they were going to get to it.
00:08:31
Speaker 5: You know what I'm saying? You know they're going to get to it. Because you kind of get an idea what the movie is. And I was just like, nah, nah, this is really good. I was like, dang, he's really going to kill this kid? And then I guess when he kills him, it goes to the credit store or something like that.
00:08:45
Speaker 1: Because we never saw it. We just saw the blood on the book.
00:08:47
Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah.
00:08:48
Speaker 1: And it was done so well. Man, man, this was good. This was good. This was good.
00:08:55
Speaker 2: But he wasn't having it. Buddy wasn't having it. He kept popping up.
00:09:00
Speaker 3: Right.
00:09:02
Speaker 4: But, yeah, no, I, yeah, I did like this because I'm like, okay, so how, my whole thing is, how the hell are they going to do this?
00:09:09
Speaker 1: Because we're really watching, like, a kid's show. Right. So I'm like, okay, this is already interesting.
00:09:15
Speaker 4: And, so, yeah, it was like, and I'm thinking about the characters.
00:09:21
Speaker 1: I'm with you, Mike.
00:09:21
Speaker 4: I thought the actors did an amazing job, like, embodying that old, like, retro sort of kids show.
00:09:29
Speaker 1: Like, acting like they did. And the guy busting the move and shit like that.
00:09:36
Speaker 4: And the little girl, I don't really want to dance. And then they're doing the dance and stuff like that. And then the other kid was like, man, I ain't doing any of that shit. He was like, come.
00:09:43
Speaker 1: On, you got to do it. He was like, no, I'm not doing it. I'm not doing any of that shit. He said, I'm out of it. I just want to read my book. But yeah, right. But he was like, nah. But it wasn't really like, It was subtle, though.
00:10:00
Speaker 4: You, like, heard he's frustrated, but you don't hear, like, the really angry part of Buddy that we hear later on. That's what I liked about, like you said, the buildup. It was real slow. And it's just like you know something happened, but you didn't see it.
00:10:11
Speaker 1: He was just gone. Buddy was just lying.
00:10:13
Speaker 4: Like, oh, yeah, he just– He just called to do some dance show.
00:10:19
Speaker 1: Right.
00:10:19
Speaker 3: I couldn't get out of my head, like, how many people had to be hired to get this made. Like, the people that made it, the people they pitched it to, the people that paid for it. It was like, Jesus Christ. But, again, like you said, we're here, and I wasn't mad. I was like, okay, this is what we're going to do. Again, the creative part of it was really what stood out to me, especially when I figured out we're going to be in this world, and it's just, like, where are they going to leave us?
00:10:44
Speaker 2: Yeah, so Buddy tells the kids that Josh went on a dancing tour at Diamond City. But as the episode ends, Freddie sees Josh's book is in the trash covered in blood. So did y'all think it was cool how the episodes would end and then restart? And I assume y'all caught Hannah being in the intro for the next episode.
00:11:06
Speaker 1: Yeah, I did think that was cool.
00:11:08
Speaker 4: That was one of the things that I really liked about it was that, like, we're just going to end and we're just going to start over again. And then just seeing her face, the little white girl's face, Freddie?
00:11:20
Speaker 1: Freddie. Freddie being concerned, and then it's starting over again.
00:11:23
Speaker 4: So, yeah, I thought that was dope.
00:11:26
Speaker 1: I did like that. Do you think that was cool, the way it would end and start?
00:11:30
Speaker 2: Yeah, I liked how it started over each time and how they even gave context.
00:11:33
Speaker 1: To it at the end.
00:11:35
Speaker 2: Yeah, so Freddie shows Wade the bloody book, and to explain it in a way, Buddy tells him that Betty Bunny spilled paint on the book. When they're making a card. But when they ask Betty, Betty's like, I didn't do that shit.
00:11:46
Speaker 1: I don't spill pink. I don't spill pink. And walks off.
00:11:50
Speaker 2: So Wade and Freddie go and inform the other adult, which is Nurse Nancy. But when Nurse Nancy goes to confront Buddy, Buddy had to choke a bitch, y'all. What'd you think about this part, Rod?
00:12:04
Speaker 4: I was like, yo, this is a wild movie right now.
00:12:08
Speaker 1: Like, Like, what is happening? Like, dude, I'm still feeling weird.
00:12:12
Speaker 4: I'm, like, looking around, like, yo, y'all see this shit?
00:12:15
Speaker 1: Like, it just felt weird.
00:12:16
Speaker 5: But at the same time, I was still really intrigued to see where this was going to actually go.
00:12:22
Speaker 1: But, yeah, yeah, Buddy wasn't having it.
00:12:24
Speaker 5: I was like, oh, yeah, it's about to be, like, just the trickle-down effect of, like, things happening.
00:12:32
Speaker 1: You know what I mean?
00:12:33
Speaker 5: Like, you know, like, it's just going to be thing after thing at this point. But, no, no, it was crazy.
00:12:38
Speaker 2: Ken, is you like when he punched Clocky off the wall? He rolled his little sleeves up that he didn't have, and he punched the shit out of Clocky. He was so bad.
00:12:50
Speaker 1: He was pissed. Oh, my God, I was dying.
00:12:57
Speaker 4: Man, yeah, that shit was funny, bro, because, like, Because.
00:13:03
Speaker 1: You know, Scrappy was like, oh, yeah, he's fine.
00:13:07
Speaker 2: He was like, he must really be pleased with her. He's hugging her neck really hard.
00:13:11
Speaker 4: And then he punched that thing, and then he's just sitting there walking around like this.
00:13:17
Speaker 1: And then the kids, you know, still looking. And then he turned around. Oh, my God. Did he see you? That was wild. Oh, man. Yeah, that was fun.
00:13:25
Speaker 4: But it's the escalation. So now we're taking it up a notch, which I like, too. Yeah.
00:13:31
Speaker 2: So when the next episode starts, did y'all catch the glitch in the intro?
00:13:36
Speaker 1: The glitch.
00:13:37
Speaker 2: So when the next episode starts, it has the same It's Buddy intro, but for like half a second, there's a glitch that shows the dinner table. The dinner table that Grace is.
00:13:52
Speaker 1: In the real world. In the real world? Damn. It's pretty cool. It's real, real, real, real, real quick.
00:13:58
Speaker 2: But yeah, the next episode starts with them planning something for Buddy's birthday. And it's here that we meet Charlie the Train. But Wade and Freddy decide to tell Oliver and Hannah about what's going on.
00:14:10
Speaker 1: And I'm.
00:14:12
Speaker 2: Going to say right now, I immediately got hoe vibes from Oliver. I was like, that motherfucker is a hoe. Y'all need to stop talking to him. But they did.
00:14:21
Speaker 1: Because in the.
00:14:21
Speaker 2: Very next scene, Oliver's little hoe ass dimes everybody out. So Wade, Freddie, and Hannah tried to escape to Diamond City inside Charlie the Train, but Buddy comes over. And were y'all surprised when he killed poor Charlie the Train, y'all? He tore his face off.
00:14:38
Speaker 3: I was surprised at how serious Charlie was about it. I thought Charlie was going to be like, y'all get off. I thought Buddy was in charge.
00:14:47
Speaker 1: He is there.
00:14:49
Speaker 2: But I know so when Charlie was like, all right, buddy, get out of the way. Get out of the way, buddy.
00:14:53
Speaker 1: He's got to go to the city. He's got to go to the city.
00:14:58
Speaker 3: Charlie's standing up for himself. But, yeah, I was surprised when he killed the train. I thought, like, buddy was going to be able to talk to him off of the train.
00:15:07
Speaker 1: Was the mailman there by this point? Not yet. No, not yet. Yeah, no. Because he said, I got to work him up dance moves too. Yeah.
00:15:18
Speaker 4: Man, bro, this shit was funny because people in my theater laugh. I don't know why they were laughing the way y'all were at, but they were definitely enjoying laughing.
00:15:29
Speaker 1: I was in there with kids. What? Like teenagers. Oh, man.
00:15:35
Speaker 2: Teenagers, and they were talking the whole time.
00:15:37
Speaker 1: Oh, damn, bro.
00:15:37
Speaker 2: They were laughing and stuff, but they just kept being like, man, what the fuck's.
00:15:39
Speaker 1: Going on, yo? What's happening? Man, shut the fuck up. Who you asking? None of us know what's going on. Shut up.
00:15:46
Speaker 3: It reminded me of the movie we went to go see, the one we just reviewed.
00:15:54
Speaker 2: Hope. This nigga answered his phone. First of all, FaceTime.
00:15:59
Speaker 1: Oh, Jesus.
00:16:00
Speaker 2: Whole conversation. I'm telling.
00:16:03
Speaker 1: I don't care. I'm telling.
00:16:04
Speaker 3: I was like, I really want to be petty and tell him to shut up, but then it wouldn't be worth it. Nah, he was there with his son. Yeah, like he was there with his young son. Like he having a whole conversation with his wife, bro, on speakerphone while the movie is on.
00:16:24
Speaker 1: Yeah, that's wild. Like, I'm here. I love you, babe. All right, I'll see you later. This is where we go. I was like, bro, you for real? Enjoying the movie.
00:16:31
Speaker 3: Yeah, the nigga was like, he was so unbothered. I knew it was a problem when the nigga had his shoes off, like him and his son. Post sitting there with his shoes off, just socks in the theater, phone on loud, not on vibrate. I ain't even got to ask what race he was.
00:16:44
Speaker 1: Yeah, I ain't even got to ask.
00:16:46
Speaker 2: See, that's the moment you want to be doing the plan.
00:16:52
Speaker 4: I did like this scene because, again, we're moving forward and our buddy is losing it.
00:16:58
Speaker 1: And I just love how everything was set up. I'm with you, Mike.
00:17:03
Speaker 4: That little white kid, bro, you knew he was going to snitch. They were like, we don't even say the word. We're just going to say B word. And Buddy, like you were saying, Spike, he just popped up in the window.
00:17:13
Speaker 1: That was funny as hell.
00:17:16
Speaker 4: And then, yeah, they just ripped Charlie off, bro. And they just knew they were about to get out of there, too. But Buddy, like, nah, y'all not leaving out of here, bro.
00:17:26
Speaker 3: The way that they were able to set up tense scenes and moments, it's creative. You can not like this movie, but you can't hate and say that it was bad. What they were using to create stuff, as movie moments, you're like, that was okay.
00:17:46
Speaker 2: When we see Buddy... He starts attacking Wade. And he's like, why you cutting yourself? Why you cutting yourself?
00:17:51
Speaker 1: He said, not. Everybody else. He said, y'all go back. He said, but not you, Wade. Not Wade. Everybody in the theater was like, oh. Man.
00:17:59
Speaker 2: So Freddie comes to save him by spraying him with some chemicals, which gives Wade the opportunity to light Buddy on fire. This is when Buddy murders Miles, the mailman, which pushes the kids to grab Strappy and try to escape after getting Mr.
00:18:14
Speaker 1: Mailbox.
00:18:16
Speaker 2: But then my boy Wade got got, y'all. So were y'all surprised that Wade got got? Yeah, this is where I almost left out of the theater, Spike. My boy Wade was going to make it.
00:18:26
Speaker 5: Man, everybody, because I was in the black theater, everybody was disappointed. Because you just killed a mailman who was black. Then you come around and kill Wade.
00:18:35
Speaker 1: Like, wait a minute. What is going on here?
00:18:37
Speaker 2: But they killed Josh first.
00:18:38
Speaker 1: I don't care. They did kill. I don't care. The other kid they killed was black, too. Right.
00:18:42
Speaker 2: I got all the black kids.
00:18:44
Speaker 1: What other kids? I had to remind myself of that.
00:18:46
Speaker 2: I remember it was another kid that brought me. But that was later.
00:18:48
Speaker 1: It was still a black kid. Everybody got it, though. Yeah. Except one.
00:18:51
Speaker 4: I did have to remind myself they killed the white guy first.
00:18:54
Speaker 1: Yeah. I feel you, Rob. I was in the same theater that had the same reaction. I had the same.
00:19:01
Speaker 2: And they killed him off screen. At least you got that. You don't want to see black kids getting killed.
00:19:05
Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying? They killed the white boy off screen. They didn't kill the black boy off screen. Yes, they did. You didn't see it.
00:19:10
Speaker 2: Well, you saw it coming.
00:19:12
Speaker 1: Yeah, but I mean, you didn't see the little kid die. And the mailman. You saw him kill the mailman. And the mailman. Well, he's an adult. He should have minded his damn business. He said, here's the knife if you want the knife. He said, sharing is important.
00:19:23
Speaker 2: That shit was funny.
00:19:25
Speaker 1: So I didn't like that. I didn't like that it was killing the black kid.
00:19:28
Speaker 2: I didn't either, but it paid off. And it made sense.
00:19:31
Speaker 1: I don't know.
00:19:32
Speaker 2: Because if they hadn't done it, then we wouldn't have gotten the scene we'll get to in a minute.
00:19:36
Speaker 1: Okay.
00:19:37
Speaker 2: But this is when we get pushed into the real world. This is where we meet Grace, her husband Ben, and their two kids, Timothy and derrick i was.
00:19:45
Speaker 1: Excited you were excited we're in the real world.
00:19:48
Speaker 5: Now this should slow down tremendously i was excited because i saw old girl from penguin yeah and i was just like oh man it's oh okay all.
00:19:55
Speaker 2: Right let's go yeah yeah no i'm with you i didn't know she was in it yeah i didn't know either yeah but uh but yeah she grace seems to be having issues settling in with her life um She hires a psychic, and during a ritual, the show buddy pops up on TV. However, Grace- After she acts to reveal itself.
00:20:15
Speaker 1: Right.
00:20:16
Speaker 5: In that she acts for the entity or whatever to reveal itself.
00:20:19
Speaker 1: I'm going to get there. Oh, okay. I'm sorry. See how Robby doing when I be hosting stuff? He don't trust me. I'm trying to speed along. I'm slowing it down. I'm slowing it down.

00:21:10
Speaker 2: So yeah, so the interesting thing is Grace can't seem to find any record of the show existing. And she also reveals to Ben that she thinks they had a third child. Was Ben an asshole? I'm going to ask you, Ken. Was Ben an asshole for not believing her?
00:21:26
Speaker 1: I despise Ben. Damn. This movie, bro.
00:21:31
Speaker 4: They did a good job of painting him to be this. This arrogant, male, pretentious, all the shit y'all want to use. That was him. That was him. He was all the Twitter words. Man, he was all the Twitter words, Mike. I mean, the way he talked to her about the child and taking the kids away and the way he was dismissive about.
00:21:53
Speaker 1: The psychic, which... Well, that's fair. You know, yeah. I'll kind of win him on that one. But he was still a dick.
00:22:03
Speaker 4: But when she came, it was like, yo, I think, man, I was like, yo, I hated him.
00:22:07
Speaker 2: He made fair points, though, King.
00:22:09
Speaker 1: He did. What?
00:22:10
Speaker 2: It was like, so everybody in the world.
00:22:13
Speaker 1: Right. Everybody in the world forgot about this child but you? Yeah, come on, King.
00:22:18
Speaker 2: Come on.
00:22:18
Speaker 1: Like, what are we talking about? The doctors, the teachers, the students. King, we had another child. You would think she was crazy.
00:22:26
Speaker 2: That's why I specifically wanted to start with the married folks. Because me and Spike, I already knew we were going.
00:22:32
Speaker 1: To be on the same page. You have your fucking mind. I want a favorite job. I want a favorite job. So Nate tell you, hey, bro, there's a fourth kid. I don't know. My wife gets a phone call.
00:22:42
Speaker 5: It's like, look, my wife is talking about that kid.
00:22:46
Speaker 1: And your wife came in and be like, you know what? I wouldn't have been as rude about it, though. He was extremely rude. What if you just not in the mood for this bullshit? You had a hard day. Here you go with this stupid shit. And it wasn't even a suggestion.
00:23:05
Speaker 2: She was dead ass.
00:23:06
Speaker 3: She didn't float the possibility.
00:23:09
Speaker 2: She was like, hey, I think we had another chance.
00:23:13
Speaker 1: What the fuck are you talking about? Stop talking to me right now. He was an asshole, bro. That was my whole thing. Oh, God. Yeah, man.
00:23:22
Speaker 4: I don't think I could be that rude. I think I would be a little bit more empathetic, understanding, like, okay.
00:23:27
Speaker 1: Empathetic of what?
00:23:28
Speaker 4: Because I don't remember this kid, Rob. You remember some kid that didn't exist. We need to get you some help. But I'm going to, because I don't know what's wrong with you right now.
00:23:40
Speaker 2: This ain't about empathy, man. It's like, yo, are you okay?
00:23:43
Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying? You hear how he was talking to her, though. He wasn't even considerate. He was being an asshole, but still, bro. I don't know. It was a buildup, too, though, Ken. It was a buildup. It wasn't, man. He was dismissing from the jump, bro.
00:23:54
Speaker 3: But she screamed for no fucking reason.
00:23:56
Speaker 1: First of all, we sitting here eating. I want to say, we're like, where am I at? We sitting here.
00:23:59
Speaker 3: We sitting here eating breakfast, and she just screams out of nowhere. So I'm already irritated. Yeah, you're irritated already because you got to go to the hospital, wait in the emergency room, see what's wrong with her, realize nothing's really wrong with her. She calls a psychic behind your back. Thought you wasn't going to find out. You just happened to come home, and you see this strange lady in your house, and now.
00:24:19
Speaker 2: You're telling me, oh, man, you know what? I think we got another child.
00:24:22
Speaker 1: Yeah. And my wit's in at this point. I'm taking the kids. Yeah, we're leaving.
00:24:29
Speaker 2: You got to go get some help. I'm going to find our fucking psychic tomorrow. I'm going to go find our missing kid.
00:24:32
Speaker 3: What the hell's wrong with you? I would have been rude to the psychic too. And you said the chair was cursed. Like, that's how you start it all? I think the chair is cursed.
00:24:40
Speaker 2: And he did.
00:24:40
Speaker 1: He did. He did placate her. He was empathetic. Because he moved the chair.
00:24:43
Speaker 2: At first, he was like, okay, we'll put the chair in the watchman.
00:24:46
Speaker 1: It was an empty seat, though. Why is that seat there?
00:24:48
Speaker 2: The chair should have been the step one of I need to get the hell out of here. You're over here screaming at a chair. I'm not playing this game with you. Can you move the chair because it's haunted?
00:24:56
Speaker 1: What?
00:24:57
Speaker 4: Remember when the first time we saw her and she was like, y'all come. Everybody come dinner ready. He was like, everybody's here. What are you talking about?
00:25:07
Speaker 1: He was fed up, kid.
00:25:08
Speaker 3: Yeah.
00:25:08
Speaker 1: He was fed up. He'd been dealing with this.
00:25:10
Speaker 2: For a while.
00:25:10
Speaker 1: Yeah, he was fed up. Oh, no. Okay. He was fed up, man. I remember, like, one time, like, they let some Jehovah's Witnesses in the house.
00:25:18
Speaker 2: I was so annoyed.
00:25:19
Speaker 1: You told us that. I was so annoyed. Like, what are you doing? I'd be annoyed, too.
00:25:24
Speaker 3: I think that's a man protection thing. I've had this situation where I was with a girl. We were, like, at a gas station late night. I'd stop in there and get, like, a Coke or something. And she let this homeless lady in the car. And she was like, can you just give her a ride up the street?
00:25:36
Speaker 1: I was like, what? What the fuck are you talking about?
00:25:39
Speaker 2: No.
00:25:39
Speaker 1: No. I'm telling you, Ken, you would have been annoyed, man. You would have been annoyed, bro. I get you, though.
00:25:45
Speaker 2: They did make him seem like a jerk. But again, if you really think about it.
00:25:48
Speaker 1: Exactly. That's why I asked the question.
00:25:50
Speaker 2: If you really think about it, I don't know.
00:25:53
Speaker 1: Points were made.
00:25:54
Speaker 2: Definitely points were made. So Grace is pulled into the buddy world and turned into the replacement for Nurse Nancy.
00:26:00
Speaker 1: That was wild.
00:26:01
Speaker 2: What did y'all think about that first interaction we see.
00:26:03
Speaker 1: Between her and Buddy?
00:26:04
Speaker 2: Can I go back just a little bit? You want to make the review longer?
00:26:07
Speaker 1: Sure, Spike.
00:26:08
Speaker 3: So did the husband, like, did she at that point disappear from existence? Because she went in there, and he acted like he didn't see her.
00:26:14
Speaker 1: Yes. So that's how I got it.
00:26:16
Speaker 2: I took it as if you get sucked into the buddy world, the real world just doesn't remember you anymore, which is fucking crazy.
00:26:24
Speaker 1: It is nuts.
00:26:25
Speaker 2: Because she's getting sucked into the world in that moment. And the husband was like, he didn't even hear her.
00:26:29
Speaker 1: Yeah. Okay. Yeah, that's how I took it, at least. Got it.
00:26:35
Speaker 2: But yeah, Buddy licks her face and starts groping that ass.
00:26:37
Speaker 1: Man. I was like, this.
00:26:40
Speaker 2: Is probably a stupid question, but I was like, this Buddy ass.
00:26:45
Speaker 1: His buddy was.
00:26:45
Speaker 2: Acting like he had won.
00:26:47
Speaker 1: Hey, bro. He was on that act.
00:26:49
Speaker 3: They made this so uncomfortable.
00:26:51
Speaker 1: They did.
00:26:52
Speaker 2: Oh, my God. And the way he got all mad and got the little axe and just walked out like he.
00:26:57
Speaker 1: Was fighting for the act. Right. Never mind. I ain't watching no way. Oh, my God. Yeah, that was so cringy. Even her acting was good here, too. She killed us. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, she killed us. Damn.
00:27:11
Speaker 2: Yeah, that was disgusting and disturbing. I was not expecting that.
00:27:14
Speaker 1: Me either. But might as well. We here. We here. Right.
00:27:19
Speaker 2: Also, Buddy's just like a piece of shit. Buddy's a scumbag. So we catch up with Freddie Oliver and Hannah. Was Oliver an entire bitch for blaming Freddie when he.
00:27:33
Speaker 1: Was the one that snitched? Absolutely. Oliver got on my nerves. He couldn't even pee.
00:27:42
Speaker 3: What in the R.
00:27:45
Speaker 2: Kelly was going on with that flower? He was like, hey, bro.
00:27:50
Speaker 1: Hey, darn it. Excuse me. Hold on, bucko.
00:27:57
Speaker 2: You're not going to pee in my face and say it's raining.
00:28:01
Speaker 1: Oh, shit. Yeah, that was crazy. Oliver peed all over that flower.
00:28:05
Speaker 2: Yeah, he did. I was like, yeah, what is going on with this movie?
00:28:12
Speaker 1: Like, how do you think of that?
00:28:14
Speaker 2: Like, wow, that was crazy.
00:28:17
Speaker 4: Yeah, but no, Oliver definitely was the reason why all this shit happened. And for him to act like that, it's like, bro, I would have just left Oliver to die. What I did think was funny, though, go over it real quick, when they were in the clubhouse, and what's the other girl's name? Hannah.
00:28:36
Speaker 1: Hannah? Yeah. And Hannah was.
00:28:39
Speaker 4: Like, Buddy loves us, guys. And Wade was like, how the hell you know? You just got here.
00:28:48
Speaker 1: That was funny. That was a black ass response. You just got here.
00:28:53
Speaker 2: You don't know nothing. I don't want some black shit to say.
00:28:58
Speaker 1: Oliver got on my goddamn nerves. He should have been the one to die.
00:29:02
Speaker 2: I never peed outside before.
00:29:03
Speaker 1: Bro, what the fuck?
00:29:07
Speaker 3: Even the girl was like, you ain't never peed behind a bush?
00:29:11
Speaker 1: Even the girl was like that. It did make sense, though. It did make sense, though.
00:29:15
Speaker 2: But yeah, like y'all are implying, the further away they get from Buddy's place, they start to turn it back into normal kids. So they're cursing, having to pee, etc. But while traveling, they meet George, who's an old cowboy, and his little marionette doll, Willie. They tell him about how it's Buddy used to be a western themed place but Rod do you remember the story that they told about Larry no Larry was the one that made up the the mean song about Buddy and Buddy killed him so were you were you into this part yeah yeah.
00:29:51
Speaker 4: This was real creepy too like I was like man what is going on like I don't know why I didn't think that they would be against them. I would think they would be in cahoots with them because they were somebody that escaped as well. But yeah, man, this got weird really quickly because at nightfall, they stole their stuff or something like that, right?
00:30:16
Speaker 2: Yeah, so that's the next part. Yeah, they ate some flower petals.
00:30:20
Speaker 1: Oh yeah, they gave them the flower petals.
00:30:22
Speaker 2: Yes, and then George gets a little freak nasty with Hannah.
00:30:25
Speaker 1: Oh my God. So yeah. Yeah.
00:30:29
Speaker 3: Disturbing Who thanks for this shit bro Like all this whole Thing was insane Yeah Because.
00:30:35
Speaker 2: When the doll like I thought I was the only one in your life Or something like that Yes Yeah they had the little spat Yes I was like oh my god But even the fact that he got the kids high Like that was just hilarious Didn't he.
00:30:45
Speaker 1: Start making out with the doll.
00:30:46
Speaker 2: Yeah Yeah He got the kids high On some Bill Cosby type shit Right And then started kissing the doll in front of him And then So y'all didn't feel for George.
00:30:57
Speaker 1: Feel for George Yeah.
00:30:59
Speaker 2: I mean, you feel for Michael Jackson.
00:31:00
Speaker 1: He did the same shit.
00:31:03
Speaker 2: George never left kid land. So to George, he was still a kid.
00:31:09
Speaker 1: I didn't even catch that. Wow. Yes.
00:31:12
Speaker 2: Oh, the old man thought he was a kid.
00:31:13
Speaker 1: The old man thought he was still a kid. He did? Yeah, he doesn't have a concept of what... Of being old. Yeah.
00:31:20
Speaker 2: That's why he's still wearing the kids' clothes that don't fit.
00:31:23
Speaker 1: I didn't even realize that. Oh, shit. I didn't think of that.
00:31:25
Speaker 2: Yeah, on one hand, he's on some Trump shit, but on the other hand, he's really on some Mike Jack.
00:31:30
Speaker 1: Yeah, that's crazy. Yeah, I don't think I realized that either. That makes sense.
00:31:34
Speaker 2: Yeah, so he's really getting groomed by Willie.
00:31:37
Speaker 1: Yeah.
00:31:38
Speaker 2: Wow and willie has now groomed him into being in a relationship with him that was wild holy but no i'm with you spike who the fuck thinks this shit like what are we doing.
00:31:51
Speaker 5: Yeah that was too wild and disturbing this whole part was disturbing like when they started the kids started just acting wrong what they how they say getting high this whole uh.
00:32:06
Speaker 1: Kissing thing and all that. Yeah, that was a little disturbing. Yeah, I knew that flower was going to damn. Yeah, I did too.
00:32:13
Speaker 2: Yeah. Because didn't it have like blood on it or whatever, the flower when they pulled it?
00:32:17
Speaker 1: He also just seemed like he was lying too. Huh?
00:32:20
Speaker 4: He just seemed like he was lying when he said it.
00:32:22
Speaker 1: So I was like, I don't know about that flower.
00:32:26
Speaker 2: I didn't think anything of the flower at all until they got high.
00:32:29
Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
00:32:30
Speaker 2: What?
00:32:30
Speaker 5: Yeah, I figured the flower was going to make them high.
00:32:33
Speaker 2: Damn.
00:32:33
Speaker 3: Yeah.
00:32:35
Speaker 2: Well, after a creepy nightmare involving Wade with a hole in his chest, which I thought the nightmare part was dope, the kids wake up to find that Strappy has been taken by Willie and George. And then Buddy shows up and kills Willie and George, but tortures Strappy to lure the kids out.
00:32:51
Speaker 1: But they escape on bikes.
00:32:52
Speaker 2: And continue to Diamond City. Were y'all surprised by what they found at Diamond City?
00:32:57
Speaker 1: I was. I was. I was like, damn. I busted out loud.
00:33:04
Speaker 3: Only person in my theater didn't laugh.
00:33:08
Speaker 4: That's it?
00:33:10
Speaker 1: They were so mad. I would have been mad too, Ken. You know what I'm saying?
00:33:14
Speaker 2: Where's Emerald City at?
00:33:15
Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying? I want to see The Wizard. Oh, man. Oh, my God. Yeah, definitely. I was not expecting that. I was not expecting that. Me either, and I don't know why. Because the way they shot it, it really did look like it was a city. Yeah.
00:33:29
Speaker 5: And then in your mind, you're thinking Wizard of Oz. So it's just like, yeah, of course Emerald City's there.
00:33:34
Speaker 1: Like, nah. Yeah, I did not think that was. Then they keep that shit over. Yeah, they call Canada Park. Wait, that's it? It was like a cardboard box with lights in it.
00:33:45
Speaker 4: Man.
00:33:46
Speaker 2: I'm like, what is happening here?
00:33:51
Speaker 1: I feel so bad for them. I do too. They went through all of that for nothing. Yeah, that was wild. But hear me out. I think there really is a Diamond City. Okay.
00:34:00
Speaker 2: I think there really is a Diamond City because why would Thomas the Train think that they needed to go to Diamond City?
00:34:07
Speaker 1: To make the hospital. I think this was like a A ruse?
00:34:11
Speaker 2: Like a ruse that maybe Buddy set up, which maybe we'll find out in part two.
00:34:16
Speaker 1: Okay, I can see that.
00:34:18
Speaker 2: But yeah, the next episode starts and we find that there's a couple new characters. A black kid named Tyler, as well as a new mailman named Justin.
00:34:29
Speaker 1: So what did y'all think of this part?
00:34:31
Speaker 4: Because the kid was an athlete, right? Didn't he play baseball or something?
00:34:36
Speaker 1: Yeah, of course. I was like, really? Yeah, that was a good one. Was it? Yeah, man, the black stuff in here was annoying to me. But, oh, okay. But what you like it why? I like it because it's realistic. It is realistic.
00:34:51
Speaker 2: I mean, I don't think the makers of this were being racist. I think they were pointing out the racism in these shows because there's always a DEI quota.
00:34:59
Speaker 1: And I feel like that's what they were trying to do.
00:35:03
Speaker 5: But I think two things can be true. It's what I always was thinking. So what's the second thing?
00:35:09
Speaker 1: That they were being racist.
00:35:10
Speaker 2: You feel like they were participating in it. You feel like they were pointing it out. I don't think at all they were actually being racist. I think they were pointing out that there's always this type of thing with these shows. There's always one black kid. And if it's a boy, best believe he can dance, he can sing, and or he's athletic. So I think they were pointing out the racism in this. And I think that's specifically why, because they didn't replace Josh with like, Anything that would make you be like, whoa, that's weird. They just replaced him with Hannah, who's just a girl.
00:35:44
Speaker 1: Right.
00:35:45
Speaker 2: But they specifically replaced Wade with another black kid.
00:35:48
Speaker 1: What about the mailman? The mailman was white.
00:35:50
Speaker 2: Yeah, but he was an adult, so he didn't really matter. Because the adults on these shows, you know, if you watch like Pee Wee's Playhouse, like Lawrence Fishburne, he was a fucking cowboy. And they never really, from what I can remember at least, they never really made a point of pointing out like, oh, he's a black cowboy.
00:36:05
Speaker 4: Mm-hmm.
00:36:06
Speaker 1: He was just a cowboy. Right.
00:36:08
Speaker 2: But the kids, those black kids, they're always dancing. They can rap. I mean, it even got to like Power Rangers. Remember Zack the Black Ranger?
00:36:17
Speaker 1: Yeah.
00:36:17
Speaker 2: He can fucking dance and rap.
00:36:19
Speaker 1: They always do this. Yeah, I know. So I liked it. I liked it.
00:36:23
Speaker 2: I think it points out the person of color diversity quota with these stupid ass shit.
00:36:29
Speaker 1: Yeah.
00:36:29
Speaker 5: That's why I said two things could be true. I mean, Maybe they weren't being racist, but yeah, they might have been just pointing that out.
00:36:35
Speaker 4: Or maybe that is a racist thing, you know. But it's like, damn it if you do, damn it if you don't. So you don't have a black kid on this kid's show, and it's like, where the black kid's at?
00:36:47
Speaker 2: Well, yeah, but you can have a black kid, but he doesn't have to fall into stereotypes. Why can't the black kid just be in the science?
00:36:53
Speaker 1: You know what I mean?
00:36:54
Speaker 2: Why can't the black kid be in the poetry? Why does he always have to bust a move?
00:37:00
Speaker 1: I felt that way about Wade. I'm not going to lie.
00:37:02
Speaker 4: Yeah, when he started doing that shit, I was like, oh.
00:37:08
Speaker 1: Damn, bro.
00:37:09
Speaker 2: He was the one that could come up with the song on the spot when he got a splinter.
00:37:13
Speaker 1: It's like, come on, man.
00:37:15
Speaker 4: Yeah, but now it made sense to replace with a black kid, because if they didn't, I'd be like, oh, man, y'all not even going to replace.
00:37:21
Speaker 1: Y'all just killed off a black kid, and you're not going to even put him back. You gave him a cleaner afro. I don't know if y'all noticed that. I did.
00:37:29
Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, his hair was jacked up at first. And the new kid had, like, good hair.
00:37:34
Speaker 1: Yeah, good hair. You know, that could be part of it, too. That's wild.
00:37:40
Speaker 2: So, yeah, so after they visit Nurse Grace... And we, of course, get a glimpse that Grace is actually Freddie's mom, which I didn't expect. I thought it was going to be Oliver. Because Oliver looks like those other two boys. So I thought Oliver was.
00:37:59
Speaker 1: Going to be her kid.
00:38:00
Speaker 2: But we find out that, you know, Grace is actually Freddie's mom. But outside, the kids are antagonizing Buddy by singing that mean song again.
00:38:11
Speaker 1: Which causes.
00:38:12
Speaker 2: the true Buddy, to come out when he's like this big dragon monster. We also then actually get full confirmation that Freddie is Grace's daughter. But Buddy goes on a rampage. He kills mailman Justin by impaling him on his horn. And then he beheads Buddy, Betty the Bunny. He also tears Couchy in half. And as the kids escape through the worry well, we hear Grace get murdered. So were y'all, Spike, were you shocked that Grace got murdered?
00:38:43
Speaker 1: I was.
00:38:43
Speaker 2: I thought she was going to make it out with the kids.
00:38:45
Speaker 3: I didn't expect her to sacrifice herself at the well. But again, they just did a good job of keeping this interesting with what they were doing. I liked him cutting the side off to go down the well.
00:38:59
Speaker 1: All of it worked. Yeah, I was surprised.
00:39:02
Speaker 4: I thought it was going to have kind of this hero in there.
00:39:06
Speaker 1: She go back. I told you we had a kid and that was that.
00:39:11
Speaker 4: And also, I didn't think she really had to die like you know she could have got away but you know.
00:39:18
Speaker 2: Not after buddy slapped the shit out of her buddy slapped i i wasn't gonna laugh though but why.
00:39:25
Speaker 1: Are you laughing.
00:39:27
Speaker 2: Buddy slapped the shit out of Grace, y'all. Bro, she was on the ground. I don't think she's ever been hit before. The look on her face, she was like, this my blood? He slapped the shit out of her. Grace didn't even get up after that.
00:39:41
Speaker 1: She did. She was like, kill me. Yeah, I may as well just die. I'm not going to hit me like this. Just go ahead and take me to heaven, bro.
00:39:50
Speaker 2: I can't go back to the real world talking about I got pimp slapped by a big ass unicorn.
00:39:56
Speaker 4: Right.
00:39:57
Speaker 1: Right. See, the husband ain't never put his hands on her. Right. He said you went from bad to worse.
00:40:04
Speaker 2: You should have stayed your ass here and let that damn third kid go. Now you over here getting pimp slapped.
00:40:10
Speaker 1: Oh my God, yo. Were y'all surprised that she died? I was. I was, yes. I was surprised. Yeah, I was definitely surprised. I thought she was there. They had the little tube band-aid thing going, too. Yeah.
00:40:26
Speaker 3: It had the whole reveal about the fish that she was.
00:40:31
Speaker 2: Thinking about and the other kids she got mixed up about. So, yeah, I was surprised.
00:40:34
Speaker 3: I thought they invested a lot of time into bringing her on and getting.
00:40:38
Speaker 1: Her to the story. And for her to be such a big... actor. I don't know if she's big yet, but for her to... Yeah, she's decently big.
00:40:46
Speaker 5: I didn't expect them to kill her. I still don't know how I feel about them killing her, honestly.
00:40:51
Speaker 1: I didn't really like it all that much, but it's whatever.
00:40:57
Speaker 2: Alright, well, Buddy kills Tyler ass, too. By hugging him to death. Come here, you need a hug. Which changes him back to the Unicorn. But then, like Spike mentioned a minute ago, he tries to go after the kids, but he's too fat to get down the well. So he has to get liposuction. He chops off his own hips so he can go down the well. The kids then find a secret room with an older unicorn. But it's here we get more deaths. We get Buddy pulling Hannah through the door and he eats Oliver whole. After Oliver begs him for forgiveness. So what did y'all think of this? He said, I promise it won't hurt.
00:41:41
Speaker 1: Maybe it didn't. We don't know.
00:41:42
Speaker 2: He probably ate him whole.
00:41:44
Speaker 4: I'm glad he killed Oliver. I wish Oliver had a more... That was probably the most satisfying death.
00:41:49
Speaker 1: Yeah. Like an oyster, bro. Yeah. Because he was stupid. He was. And even... Swallow. Go ahead, Mike. Yeah, I'm glad Oliver died. Yeah. And then they killed the boy Tyler. Tyler deserved to die, too. He did, man.
00:42:13
Speaker 2: Tyler punk ass came out talking about... He just got there.
00:42:15
Speaker 1: Yeah, he came out talking about, we still playing baseball. Right, right. Right. See how they did it? Yeah. Where? Where, Tyler? Do you see any baseball players? Like, the scene is red now.
00:42:26
Speaker 6: Right.
00:42:26
Speaker 4: It ain't even daylight outside anymore, Tyler.
00:42:29
Speaker 1: No, we're not playing baseball. Everybody kidding. He's like, oh, I love you, Tyler. Because I guess Tyler, like, you're like.
00:42:36
Speaker 4: Reincarnated him or whatever the song worked because he had somebody that loved him and that's what he needed.
00:42:43
Speaker 2: That joke was funny to me funny to me.
00:42:47
Speaker 5: That's a good point though because he was just like it's not working when the kids didn't love him.
00:42:52
Speaker 2: No more but it did work that one time when he had after they went to Diamond City remember the song worked.
00:43:04
Speaker 1: But no one yeah it did.
00:43:06
Speaker 2: The little boy, the little snitch was there, right?
00:43:09
Speaker 1: Yeah, so it must have been him. Oh, Oliver.
00:43:12
Speaker 2: Yeah, because when he grabbed them up, the show restarted.
00:43:16
Speaker 3: Yeah, when he got to the end.
00:43:19
Speaker 1: Oh, okay.
00:43:20
Speaker 2: That's how they got all back to the Barney land.
00:43:23
Speaker 1: That's right, that's right, that's right, that's right. Okay.
00:43:25
Speaker 2: So yeah, I took it as Oliver must be the one that was still holding on to.
00:43:30
Speaker 1: Oh, he was such a bitch. He was a bitch, bro. Damn, he was a little bitch. I hated him. He promised he wasn't going to do it.
00:43:35
Speaker 2: He promised he wasn't going to be mad.
00:43:38
Speaker 1: Oh, my God. He was so annoying. What did y'all take.
00:43:45
Speaker 2: From the one unicorn that was still in that room?
00:43:49
Speaker 1: So they were trying to help them, right? Yes. The gray one. Yeah, I feel like.
00:43:56
Speaker 5: In this world, you have some Some that are, you know, against this whole thing or whatever.
00:44:04
Speaker 1: But did y'all see... Well, I don't know if you're going to say this part. Maybe. I'll wait and see if you say it. Okay.
00:44:13
Speaker 4: I thought it was another version of Buddy that wasn't evil. And also it looked like there was some other stuff that was just put down there as well.
00:44:23
Speaker 1: Like even.
00:44:25
Speaker 4: Even the door, because I thought that they were trying to get him to fix the mailbox, because the mailbox has some information.
00:44:32
Speaker 1: It kept looking like the mailbox was trying to say something. Yeah, it did.
00:44:34
Speaker 4: But the door was fixed, but they never fixed the mailbox.
00:44:38
Speaker 1: So I thought that that's what was happening, too.
00:44:39
Speaker 4: But it looked like there were some other versions of Buddy that were down there.
00:44:46
Speaker 1: The mailbox was funny, too.
00:44:48
Speaker 5: He killed the first kid when the mailbox just looked at the screen.
00:44:56
Speaker 1: That mailbox was hilarious. Oh, my God.
00:45:00
Speaker 2: But yeah, I got a different interpretation from the gray unicorn, but we'll hold on to that for just a minute. So Freddy goes through a door which leads to a school. And it's here that we find a wall with different humans who had all been in the buddy world. Did y'all notice the Nazi that was on the wall?
00:45:21
Speaker 1: Damn, I didn't.
00:45:23
Speaker 2: I've seen the pictures, but I didn't know he was a Nazi. There's one that's literal, like he's in a Nazi uniform.
00:45:29
Speaker 1: Oh, wow.
00:45:29
Speaker 2: So at some point, they pulled a Nazi into this buddy world, which I thought was crazy.
00:45:35
Speaker 5: Say that again one more time, because I think that's the part I was talking about. On the wall, there's pictures of humans.
00:45:41
Speaker 1: Oh, there's people.
00:45:42
Speaker 2: Oh, and it's it's all the people that have been pulled into this buddy. Yeah, I know what you're talking about. We'll get that in a second.
00:45:48
Speaker 1: All right.
00:45:50
Speaker 2: There's people and they have been brought into this buddy lamp.
00:45:54
Speaker 1: There's one that's a Nazi.
00:45:56
Speaker 2: There's one that's actually in a Nazi uniform.
00:45:58
Speaker 1: Wow.
00:46:00
Speaker 2: And then we're seeing all these weird experiments in the rooms with like brains. And there's different mailboxes. So was any of this intriguing or were y'all just like, okay, this is just more weird shit?
00:46:13
Speaker 5: Well, it was intriguing. I was like, okay, how is this happening and why is it happening? So I wanted to know more as to how this whole thing is linked and tied and what's the actual end goal to.
00:46:25
Speaker 1: All of this. Yeah, definitely for me.
00:46:27
Speaker 4: I think it added, it was a funny, silly, creative, ridiculous movie, but they added a another element to it that I liked.
00:46:36
Speaker 1: It's like, okay, there's more here that's going on.
00:46:40
Speaker 4: Is this a government experiment or, uh, where somebody experimented with the occult and this demon got loose?
00:46:48
Speaker 1: Like now I want answers.
00:46:49
Speaker 4: And I think they created the entry, uh, uh, for me in terms of like, okay, what the, what is this? Is this some side of different portal? Like what is really going on here? So I really did like this part.
00:47:03
Speaker 2: Yeah, I kind of wonder if the Nazi had more meaning to this. You know, they did all kinds of weird-ass experiments in, you know, in Auschwitz and all that shit. So I don't know if they were pointing at that. Like, maybe this was supposed to be them trying to figure out a way to do, you know, brainwashing or human control or whatever, but then it got out of hand, and now you got some weird demon thing that's running. And they also have these rumors that, you know, Hitler and some of his homies were into a cult. so who knows but now we can get to that part that Rob wants to mention.
00:47:39
Speaker 1: Um about the poster or is this you're talking about something.
00:47:43
Speaker 2: Wall yeah yeah go ahead yeah yeah yeah I'm pretty sure it's the same thing okay yeah that it was more than just Buddy it was three of them it was three of them I'm like oh shit so it's definitely gonna be another part.
00:47:54
Speaker 5: Yeah yeah yeah and it seemed like Buddy was just the first one and it seemed like there were other there was two more that it's gonna be did you see.
00:48:01
Speaker 1: That part I don't remember that part.
00:48:03
Speaker 2: Yeah, they showed a wall, and there was Buddy, Benny, and.
00:48:07
Speaker 1: I forgot the other name. Shit. Buddy, Benny... I wrote it down, I thought. Damn it.
00:48:14
Speaker 2: I thought I did, but I guess I didn't.
00:48:16
Speaker 1: But Buddy.
00:48:17
Speaker 2: Yeah, I did write it down. Buddy, Bobby, and Benny. I think that the gray one was one of those ones from the wall.
00:48:25
Speaker 1: Oh, okay. Yeah.
00:48:27
Speaker 4: See, I was thinking it was more like not at Buddy's... Dead, there's going to be more that pop up. There's going to be another one that pops up.
00:48:33
Speaker 2: Oh, I think so. Yeah, there's no way they're only going to make one of these.
00:48:36
Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah. They're definitely going to make more because this movie is doing very well.
00:48:39
Speaker 3: They say that it only took 25 days to make.
00:48:43
Speaker 1: I believe it. Yeah. I believe it.
00:48:44
Speaker 2: It couldn't have been expensive to put this together.
00:48:47
Speaker 1: So, yeah.
00:48:49
Speaker 2: So, Buddy enters into this area where the school is, and he's chasing after Freddie, but the chase ends with Freddie impaling Buddy on Mr.
00:48:58
Speaker 1: Mailbox. Which the entire time they had Mr.
00:49:00
Speaker 2: Mailbox, I was like, why don't you just stab him with Mr.
00:49:02
Speaker 1: Mailbox?
00:49:04
Speaker 2: But this ends up happening. Spike, was this a fitting end for Buddy? And was Buddy foul for calling that child a bitch?
00:49:13
Speaker 1: Bitch.
00:49:14
Speaker 3: No, this was fitting, man. Like, it was a perfect end to a movie. I guess that they didn't. bring the mother alone because where would they have gone? I think this would have, it ended better this than having them go back to their home, if that makes any sense, because everybody would have forgotten about them. So, to keep track of the movie. But, you know, it was a fitting end. I like how they stabbed them. I like how they went from creativity that kept me intrigued in the beginning to the mystery part that Ken was talking about as to, okay, what are all these programs and things going on in the background?
00:49:43
Speaker 2: And then a fitting end, like, yeah, it's fine. He should die like that.
00:49:48
Speaker 1: What about y'all? Yeah, I thought it was fine.
00:50:01
Speaker 5: It's fine, but I feel like it could have been something different for whatever reason because it's just like you're just– falling on the mailbox end. I feel like you still could have swiped her or hit her or something at that moment.
00:50:14
Speaker 1: So it just, you know, didn't seem that believable, I guess. Damn. Yeah.
00:50:20
Speaker 2: You didn't believe that he got impaled on a mailbox? I did believe it, but I didn't think, I didn't, yeah, right. He would have fell on her, first of all. He would have fell all the way down on her. You ever see people that say shit on like reddit and the people be like oh y'all are fun at parties I bet that's y'all two right now I'm just saying I'm not buying this because he would have fallen all the way on top of her I wasn't going to go there but wait for Rod Rod did.
00:50:47
Speaker 4: Rod opened the door I was going to leave with a door since the door is open since we're here I might as well have a seat so that's my only part you know what I'm saying because the movie was really good up until really good you know what I'm saying the kills were good you know So I feel like his death should have been a little better, personally.
00:51:07
Speaker 1: I do. I do feel like his death should have been a little better. You agree with that, Ken? No, I think it was fine.
00:51:16
Speaker 4: You know, I think the mailbox, maybe that's some sort of payback, you know, for... Ripping his face off. And Strappy, you know, tripped him. And Buddy died. Calling her a bitch was funny.
00:51:34
Speaker 1: Everybody laughed at that part.
00:51:35
Speaker 4: Yeah, and I kept thinking that Buddy was, I didn't think he was dead, but I kept thinking just typical horror stuff.
00:51:40
Speaker 1: He was going to wake back up, but no, he was gone.
00:51:43
Speaker 4: My thing is, when she tripped running that mailbox, that mailbox killed a lot of people. Well, not a lot of people, but that mailbox was the death of Wade. Leave that mailbox behind.
00:51:56
Speaker 1: No, he was injured.
00:51:58
Speaker 2: I know, but See, if Wade was as athletic as Tyler, he could have jumped over that damn fence.
00:52:04
Speaker 4: Well, they knocked the, all he had to do was just jump over to just climb the other trash can.
00:52:10
Speaker 1: Because they just knocked the trash can over. There were two more over the other side. Yeah, Wade wasn't too bright, y'all. You know, stop cutting yourself, Wade. Stop. Yeah. I'm with you on that. Wade up, Tom. Stop cutting yourself. Stop it, Wade.
00:52:24
Speaker 2: I am with you with the mailbox, though. Because I was in a theater.
00:52:26
Speaker 1: Like, why you just? Drop that damn mailbox.
00:52:29
Speaker 2: You need to just go.
00:52:30
Speaker 1: That was her friend. Nah, bro. It's slowing you down. I liked it. It's slowing you down. It was a little annoying.
00:52:37
Speaker 5: It was like slowing her down, but it obviously ended up saving her in the end or whatever.
00:52:40
Speaker 1: Yeah, that's why you don't leave friends behind, though.
00:52:43
Speaker 3: So you like how they turn from her friends to just inanimate objects at the end?
00:52:47
Speaker 1: Y'all just jumping the fuck ahead. God damn.
00:52:50
Speaker 2: And I'm actually doing well. We're not even at an hour yet. Y'all are rushing my shit.
00:52:53
Speaker 1: I thought this was... God damn. Did you like the credits? Where the shit's rolled?
00:52:59
Speaker 2: The black text on white background?
00:53:01
Speaker 1: Did you like it?
00:53:03
Speaker 5: Well, I'll go back to him when her mom was just like, oh, yeah, you always used to pick up animals and things like that.
00:53:07
Speaker 1: Didn't she say that to her?
00:53:09
Speaker 4: Yeah.
00:53:09
Speaker 1: Yeah, probably. Yeah, it's playing it away. They made it make sense.
00:53:13
Speaker 2: Yeah.
00:53:14
Speaker 5: Yeah, her mom has said like, oh, yeah, it's just like you to be, you know, trying to save animals and things.
00:53:19
Speaker 1: I didn't catch that. But yeah, that does make sense. Yeah.
00:53:24
Speaker 2: I disagree with y'all. I think this was a pretty perfect kill for Buddy.
00:53:28
Speaker 1: Okay. Because he kept talking. Right. While he was dying. Right. And when he was like.
00:53:34
Speaker 2: And when he coughed up blood on her. Yes.
00:53:37
Speaker 1: And he's like, my heart. Do you feel all the blood draining from my heart? I loved it. I loved it. I thought it went on for so long. Yes. And for him to end with bitch. Buddy. Buddy's my boy, man. But yeah.
00:53:57
Speaker 2: So Freddie discovers a room where Buddy's been enticing the kids to come into his world.
00:54:01
Speaker 1: And she escapes with Mr.
00:54:02
Speaker 2: Mailbox and Strappy by going through one of the TV screens. But when she gets into the real world, as Spike alluded to a minute ago, this is where.
00:54:11
Speaker 1: Strappy and Mr.
00:54:12
Speaker 2: Mailbox are turned back into inanimate objects. So I assume nobody was sad about that.
00:54:17
Speaker 4: No, I'm just like, wow, that's stupid ass thinking that was going to happen.
00:54:21
Speaker 1: Like, you think you can go back to the real world, right? And it was going to still be alive.
00:54:26
Speaker 2: A talking backpack was going to be your friend.
00:54:30
Speaker 1: Y'all mean the real world. Dumbass little girl.
00:54:33
Speaker 2: Old dumbass stupid little girl with her stupid imagination.
00:54:38
Speaker 1: Brought this thing all the way with you this whole time.
00:54:40
Speaker 2: God, y'all just hate kids.
00:54:42
Speaker 4: I'm just saying, you could have left that thing behind. It wouldn't have made no difference.
00:54:46
Speaker 1: No difference, right? You could have jumped through the portal and been gone. Y'all are mean, man.
00:54:52
Speaker 2: I thought this was sad. This actually got me a little bit. When she looked at Strappy and Strappy was at the backpack, I was like, yo, they got my boy Strappy, though, bro. They got my boy Strappy. I was sad a little.
00:55:06
Speaker 1: Bit because those were her friends. Yeah, they can still be your friends.
00:55:11
Speaker 2: No, they can't. No, because she's going to end up in the crazy house with her mama.
00:55:16
Speaker 1: But, nah, so.
00:55:18
Speaker 2: The really messed up thing is, so I thought the guy outside that was cooking, I thought that was the dad.
00:55:23
Speaker 1: I knew it wasn't the dad. I knew not. I thought it was him until he came.
00:55:27
Speaker 4: Inside, and I was like, oh. They did a good job of setting it up, though. I was like, she is not back home.
00:55:34
Speaker 1: Damn.
00:55:35
Speaker 5: So, is this a good ending for y'all? It was an interesting ending. I'm like, okay, so what now? Like, what's the situation now? Because I was thinking, like, I don't know. How do you know that's still your house?
00:55:46
Speaker 1: Yep. You know what I'm saying? So... Yeah.
00:55:50
Speaker 4: I like the ending. It's not a feel-good story. It kind of makes sense. Like Rod said, you don't know which one of those is your home. And, you know, it sets up a part two. It's doing well, so they're definitely going to do a part two. Now that they have two other versions that you guys pointed out, so they can definitely, you know, use them to tell another story.
00:56:13
Speaker 1: But.
00:56:14
Speaker 4: going back to what you guys were saying earlier, and you said a few minutes ago as well, Spike, is that, and you guys pointed this out, and I didn't pick this up when I was watching it, like, once you go into that world, you don't exist. So now it's like, okay, what's going to happen when she tries to go home and tries to tell that uncaring dad of hers that that's her child?
00:56:35
Speaker 2: I guess I would assume if she makes it back into the real world, then the memories come back.
00:56:40
Speaker 1: That could work. I would assume.
00:56:43
Speaker 2: I didn't think of that.
00:56:44
Speaker 4: But then now the mom doesn't exist anymore. So how does she explain next?
00:56:48
Speaker 1: She's going to have to tell them.
00:56:49
Speaker 4: Not to that dad. He ain't trying to hear anything. Yeah, you're right.
00:56:55
Speaker 1: You ain't my daughter.
00:56:56
Speaker 2: She's probably going to have a memory of what happened to the mom.
00:56:59
Speaker 1: She is.
00:57:00
Speaker 2: I'm saying he, the dad, right?
00:57:01
Speaker 1: Nah.
00:57:01
Speaker 2: Nah, because I assume then that since she went into the Barneyland or Buddyland, that that means all memory of her is gone. Because that's why they have no memory of the child. How would you explain the child being there?
00:57:18
Speaker 1: How would who explain it? That dad? Yeah. He's just going to be like, I don't know. He can't. I don't know. He'll remember the child. I'm assuming. That's what I'm saying.
00:57:26
Speaker 2: Is that a plot hole?
00:57:28
Speaker 1: No.
00:57:29
Speaker 3: Because if she goes back home and she be like, my mom's here, he can't be like, well, no, your mom died or your mom died.
00:57:38
Speaker 1: Yeah, he's not going to know anything about it.
00:57:39
Speaker 2: Maybe she can be adopted. I'm assuming he'll just be like, I don't remember who your mother is.
00:57:45
Speaker 1: I don't know.
00:57:46
Speaker 2: I mean, I'm sure Nick Cannon every once in a while tells one of his 40 fucking kids, I'm not sure which one your mother is.
00:57:53
Speaker 1: I can't remember. I'm sure that's happened. That's funny.
00:57:56
Speaker 2: All right, okay. So y'all here for a part two?
00:58:00
Speaker 1: Yeah, for sure.
00:58:02
Speaker 2: I didn't hate this as much as I thought I would.
00:58:04
Speaker 1: To be honest with you. Man, this movie was awesome. I knew it had to be something. With people kind of talking about it, it reminded me of Obsession. When people were trying to get us to watch Obsession, I was like, it must be something about this. I was pleased.
00:58:20
Speaker 2: I think there's something to be said about a completely original idea.
00:58:24
Speaker 1: I love original ideas.
00:58:26
Speaker 2: The creativity of it was. And you didn't bring up the three different filming styles that they did to represent the different worlds.
00:58:34
Speaker 5: The three different filming styles. So you had the, like the sitcom style.
00:58:43
Speaker 2: Like the actual, it's not really aspect ratio, but like the actual size.
00:58:47
Speaker 1: Oh yeah, it's aspect ratio. Is that what that would be called? It's aspect ratio, yeah. But you didn't bring it up, Mr. Film Man. It's three? Yeah. What was the three? I know the.
00:58:59
Speaker 2: So when they're in Buddy Land, remember what it looked like there.
00:59:01
Speaker 1: The 916.
00:59:02
Speaker 2: Well, I don't know the numbers. See, that's your thing. But remember when they were in Buddyland? Remember how the screen looked?
00:59:08
Speaker 1: Yeah.
00:59:08
Speaker 2: Yeah, that's like traditional TV.
00:59:11
Speaker 1: Mm-hmm. Yeah. With a square shape.
00:59:13
Speaker 2: And then when they were in the forest, remember how the screen looked then?
00:59:16
Speaker 5: I don't remember how it looked in the forest.
00:59:17
Speaker 1: It was widescreen. Oh, sorry, Spike. It was widescreen. Oh, that was widescreen.
00:59:21
Speaker 4: Yeah.
00:59:21
Speaker 1: I wonder why they did widescreen for that.
00:59:23
Speaker 2: And then when they go into the real world, everything was cleaned up and it just looked like our modern.
00:59:28
Speaker 1: What we see now, modern. Yeah.
00:59:30
Speaker 5: I didn't realize the widescreen, and I knew it looked different, but I'm trying to figure out why they would use widescreen there.
00:59:37
Speaker 2: Just for effect, probably, because when you watch it, when they go back to Buddy Land, the screen literally does this.
00:59:43
Speaker 1: It's actually pretty cool. It's pretty creative. Interesting.
00:59:47
Speaker 2: But yeah, I mean, I watched this, and I was just like, I forget which one of y'all said creative.
00:59:52
Speaker 1: I think it was you.
00:59:53
Speaker 2: Yeah, creative is a great word for this. It's weird as hell, but it's a really, really creative idea.
01:00:00
Speaker 1: Original idea, too. Creative, original idea.
01:00:03
Speaker 2: And it's rare that we get a movie like this where it's not a metaphor for something.
01:00:09
Speaker 1: Right.
01:00:10
Speaker 2: Because the only thing I can think of, which is a stretch, is that it might be a metaphor for child stars, Because when she comes out of the buddy land and she goes back into the real world, she's just like, I don't know what to do. I'm in this place that I don't recognize. I don't know how to function here.
01:00:29
Speaker 1: I don't know what to do.
01:00:30
Speaker 2: That's what a lot of child stars say when they get out of that industry and they get into the real world.
01:00:34
Speaker 1: They're just like, I don't know what the fuck to do here. I'm just stuck.
01:00:38
Speaker 2: And the other thing that made me think of that is, because I had to Google what, because remember that book that Josh was reading? And it was called A Wrinkle in Reality, which sounds like what?
01:00:48
Speaker 1: Wriggle in time. Wriggle in time. Right.
01:00:49
Speaker 2: I had to look up what that book was about. Did y'all read that book? I didn't either.
01:00:53
Speaker 1: Or did you ever see the movie or something? I didn't either. It's all part of the movie, but yeah.
01:00:58
Speaker 2: It's about kids going into adulthood, right?
01:01:01
Speaker 1: I think so. Yeah.
01:01:02
Speaker 2: That's what I read online at least. So that, that could be.
01:01:06
Speaker 1: Oh, it could be.
01:01:07
Speaker 5: Yeah. You know, my, my whole thought was like, I used to say, say these kids shows were kind of, um, creepy oh yeah like like like um like especially like teletubbies and all that you would see all of that uh that that uh stuff that was going on behind it oh this represents dad and this yeah like it's people behind it that aren't in the best mindset like they they their um intentions aren't.
01:01:35
Speaker 2: Great that could be it too because there was that documentary i don't know if any of y'all saw it.
01:01:39
Speaker 1: Nah but i heard everybody was talking about it yeah.
01:01:41
Speaker 2: It's I can't remember the dude's name but there was that one guy that was behind all of those kid shows and he was an absolute creep yes but I can't think of his name.
01:01:55
Speaker 5: So that's what I was thinking it could be like a dig at that type of stuff so yeah cause those shows always have been kind of creepy with the exception of Sesame Street I'm sure stuff in Sesame Street that's probably creepy but that's the only one I didn't say but Teletubbies Barney all of those shows.
01:02:14
Speaker 1: Like, yeah.
01:02:15
Speaker 2: Blue School, wasn't it something about Blue School, dude?
01:02:18
Speaker 1: No, it turned out to be a lie. Yeah, we were all, we had to apologize. Oh, okay, okay, okay.
01:02:22
Speaker 4: But the only other thing I was thinking about also, Mike, or my thought was just how television, just in general, how the kids were, like, brainwashed.
01:02:32
Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
01:02:33
Speaker 4: Watching that, so that was one of the things I got when they came to the world and all the kids were just glued to the TV like this and watching it. So that was what I was thinking about, but and I don't know if they were trying to say something with.
01:02:45
Speaker 5: That and the parents like us parents gotta push their kids off to television yeah it could be all of that stuff but I'm curious to see where they go with it though.
01:02:56
Speaker 2: Cool I'm glad everybody enjoyed this I really thought I was going to be in trouble but yeah I'm glad everybody liked it and I'm glad everybody's here for a part two so thank y'all for listening make sure you share this with some friends and then go become a Patreon supporter if you're not already and All kinds of good stuff on there. So, yeah, we will see y'all next time.
01:03:17
Speaker 1: We out.
01:03:19
Speaker 4: Peace.
00:20:30
