What happens to all the books people dream of writing but never finish?
More than 14,000 people have started a book on AIWriteBook, producing over 240 million words, yet only around 4,500 have reached a finished manuscript. Behind those numbers lies a familiar struggle for many aspiring authors: turning a great idea into a completed book.
In this episode of Beyond the Draft, Imma sits down with Mykyta Chernenko, co-founder and Head of Engineering at AIWriteBook, to explore why so many manuscripts remain unfinished and how artificial intelligence can help writers move from ideas to completed books without losing their voice or ownership of their work.
As an engineer, entrepreneur, and author of two books himself, Mykyta brings a unique perspective to the intersection of technology, creativity, and the writing process. He shares insights into the challenges writers face, the role of AI as a creative partner rather than a ghostwriter, and the systems that can help authors overcome the blank page and keep moving forward.
This conversation challenges us to rethink what it takes to finish a book—and whether the right tools and structure can help more people finally share the stories they've been carrying.
