SOBRE ESTE EPISÓDIO
In this episode of the Ultimate Dental Podcast, Dr. David Moffet interviews Jordon Comstock, the founder of BoomCloud, a software company that helps dental practices create membership programs. This conversation dives deep into the challenges faced by dental professionals and how innovative solutions can enhance patient care while improving practice profitability. In this interview you will discover how membership plans can revolutionise dental practice revenue, reduce dependence on insurance, and build patient loyalty.Jordon shares his insights on the current state of dental insurance in the U.S., highlighting how it often hampers both patient experience and practice revenue. He explains:"Dental practices become the unpaid support department for insurance companies."This statement captures the frustration many dentists feel when dealing with insurance companies that dictate terms and prices, often at the expense of quality care.Jordon's journey into the world of dentistry began with a family legacy. He managed his family's dental lab for nearly a decade before identifying a significant gap in the market. This frustration of having dentist clients of the lab asking for financial discounts because of their agreements with dental insurance companies [nothing to do with the lab] propelled him to explore alternative revenue models, leading to the creation of membership programs that empower dental practices to thrive without the constraints of insurance. The spark for BoomCloud came from a pivotal moment when Jordon visited a practice that had just launched its membership program. Intrigued by its success, he recognised the potential to develop a software solution that could streamline and scale these programs for dental offices. This curiosity and proactive approach were key to his transition from dental lab manager to software entrepreneur.Jordon emphasises the importance of technology in modernising dental practices, contrasting outdated methods with innovative solutions. He notes how many practices were still using manual systems to manage membership programs, which is neither efficient nor scalable. This shift in thinking for dental practices is needed for them to embrace technology for better patient management. What you will learn:[02:30] Jordon's entry into dentistry and the influence of insurance[03:20] The concept of membership programs in dental practice[04:40] How Jordon developed BoomCloud and its impact[06:24] The benefits of membership plans over insurance[08:30] Scaling and managing membership programs effectively[11:26] The ecosystem and support team behind BoomCloud[14:20] Why software and systems matter in membership success[17:28] The financial benefits and ROI of membership plans[20:28] Case studies and real-world results[23:28] Patient behaviour and spending with memberships[26:25] Market opportunities and the future of dental memberships[31:15] Getting started with membership plans and timelines[38:29] Overcoming challenges and building momentum[43:31] Simplifying patient communication and staff training[48:28] The importance of giving to get in practice relationships[51:18] How to connect with Jordon and implement a planTakeaways The impact of insurance on dental practice profitability How membership plans replace traditional insurance models Steps to implement a successful dental membership program The benefits of recurring revenue for dental practices How to scale membership programs efficiently The psychology behind patient loyalty and spending Strategies for dropping PPO plans and increasing profit The ecosystem of education and software supporting memberships Advice for practices starting their membership journeySound Bites "Insurance is crushing our margins" "Membership patients spend two to three times more" "Why are we giving discounts just because they have cash?""
