SIM Ep 539 Chops 221: Chasing your dream (and some Olympic medals) with Bianca Walkden and Anna Hopkin

Earlier this month, Team GB finished the Tokyo Olympic games fourth on the medal table with a massive 65 medals, equalling our London 2012 Games haul. That makes us the first country to match its medal or better its tally for two consecutive Games after hosting – hurray! In this week's Chops, Jen chats to the winners of two of those medals, Anna Hopkin, part of the 4x100m mixed medley relay gold-medal-winning team, and bronze medalist and head-kicking extraordinaire, taekwondo fighter Bianca Walkden.

They both spoke to Standard Issue on behalf of Team GB and Bridgestone, proud partner of the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games, as part of their Chase Your Dream No Matter What campaign.

Rated or Dated: This Is England (2006)

Brace yourself for a tension bellyache as Shane Meadows’ violence-smeared, working-class coming-of-age drama gets Rated or Dated. This Is England firmly marked out Meadows as the voice of working-class realism and introduced a host of brilliant British character actors to the screen. But 20 years o…

What’s the point of pubes? asks Judy Wearing

It seems there’s scarcely a person alive, male or female, who doesn’t have some kind of hang-up about their hair. Whether we have too much, not enough, whether it’s the right colour or texture, we’re all obsessed and who can blame us? After all, human hair is fascinating, or at least that’s what au…
