WEBVTT
00:00:08.400 --> 00:00:11.039
Welcome back, everybody, the Mission to Mobilize Podcast.
00:00:11.119 --> 00:00:17.359
This is Jay, your host here, and today I have a special guest here from Calisbell, Montana.
00:00:17.600 --> 00:00:18.239
Crazy story.
00:00:18.320 --> 00:00:23.920
We story we met in a coffee shop about six months ago, Taylor Werfelman.
00:00:24.160 --> 00:00:30.160
Taylor is in media marketing and he also is a pastor of a Young Devote Ministry.
00:00:30.399 --> 00:00:32.719
Taylor, welcome to the podcast today.
00:00:33.039 --> 00:00:34.000
Thank you for having me.
00:00:34.079 --> 00:00:34.960
I'm happy to be here.
00:00:35.119 --> 00:00:36.399
Really excited.
00:00:36.880 --> 00:00:39.600
Taylor, you didn't grow up here in Montana.
00:00:39.679 --> 00:00:44.320
I'd like to hear just a little bit of your journey of how you got here.
00:00:44.880 --> 00:00:45.280
Sure.
00:00:45.439 --> 00:00:46.000
Yeah.
00:00:46.320 --> 00:00:48.399
Um, man, that's that's a great question.
00:00:48.479 --> 00:00:53.679
I'll try to keep it brief, um, but also give a couple clear points along the way.
00:00:53.920 --> 00:00:56.479
So, a little bit about me.
00:00:56.640 --> 00:01:02.159
I grew up in the church all my life, um, non-denominational Protestant church.
00:01:02.399 --> 00:01:11.439
Um parents came out of the Lutheran church, but yeah, I knew non-denominational megachurch growing up and uh kind of lived my whole life under that.
00:01:11.519 --> 00:01:15.920
Um, loved Jesus in my own way, um, if that makes sense.
00:01:16.079 --> 00:01:24.480
But around the age of uh, well, around the age of 18 to 20, I started to have my eyes open that I was not living for the Lord.
00:01:24.560 --> 00:01:30.480
I was going to church, raising my hands, doing all the Christian things, but not actually bearing the fruit of God.
00:01:30.640 --> 00:01:32.000
I was living in sin.
00:01:32.319 --> 00:01:39.920
Um, even if they were justifiable sins or like the Christian acceptable sins, they were still sins that were in rebellion towards God.
00:01:40.400 --> 00:01:51.040
And man, the Lord just came in in his grace and started to reveal that um to me and in such a beautiful way to my family at the same time.
00:01:51.120 --> 00:02:03.680
It was actually very unique that it happened to all of us around the same time and started to just open our hearts up to the truth of the gospel that you know there is so much more to be experienced in God.
00:02:03.840 --> 00:02:08.800
And then there's also so much more that He's calling us to that we didn't we were not aware of.
00:02:08.879 --> 00:02:23.759
And so I'm sure we'll get into the story more, but to keep this first answer brief, um we decided at a certain point, hey, we have to stop living lukewarm, we have to turn away from the world and choose Jesus fully.
00:02:23.919 --> 00:02:27.599
Um, like truly give him our lives, give him our yes, surrender.
00:02:27.680 --> 00:02:28.400
It's your plan.
00:02:28.560 --> 00:02:29.599
We're dead, Lord.
00:02:29.759 --> 00:02:46.000
And we'll talk more about this, but that turned into um that one yes just multiplied into many yeses, ministry opportunities, helping other people to make that same yes, helping other people to be free from sin, all sorts of things.
00:02:46.159 --> 00:02:53.919
Um, but the way that I ended up in Callus Bell was as we did that, the Lord began to speak prophetically to mainly to my sister.
00:02:54.159 --> 00:02:56.080
Um, and that was new to me.
00:02:56.240 --> 00:03:00.479
We had never, we didn't grow up knowing about the gifts um in that way.
00:03:01.120 --> 00:03:04.400
And uh my sister started to hear things and they would come to pass.
00:03:04.479 --> 00:03:08.159
And so God started to show us, hey, you can trust that I actually speak today.
00:03:08.400 --> 00:03:13.919
Well, that kind of culminated to Emma, my sister, receiving that we were to move to Caliswell, Montana.
00:03:14.000 --> 00:03:17.759
We had never been to Caliswell, Montana, didn't even know what that was.
00:03:17.840 --> 00:03:24.960
Um, but she heard it clearly and had it tested by some friends, and it was very clear that this was where the Holy Spirit was calling us.
00:03:25.120 --> 00:03:27.360
And so we packed up our lives.
00:03:27.520 --> 00:03:29.280
My dad left his job of 35 years.
00:03:29.360 --> 00:03:31.759
I left my dream of being a film director.
00:03:31.919 --> 00:03:49.039
I lived in LA um before this, so I was on the way to fulfilling my dream, um, working with already big names and things, but walked away from that and moved up to Little Calisbell and started trying to find out why God had called us here.
00:03:49.120 --> 00:03:52.639
Um, so I guess I'll leave it there, and yeah, I'm sure there's other questions from that.
00:03:52.719 --> 00:03:56.479
But yeah, well, I want you to, that's an amazing story.
00:03:56.639 --> 00:04:08.960
And um, I know sometimes local people here aren't always a fan of all these people moving in from the West Coast, but I want to just say to all the local people, uh, we got some gems in the Werfelmans here.
00:04:09.199 --> 00:04:11.199
I'm so glad you guys chose to move here.
00:04:11.360 --> 00:04:14.639
You will make the flashball and already have made it a better place.
00:04:15.039 --> 00:04:15.840
Um praise God.
00:04:16.160 --> 00:04:20.000
Yeah, but I want I want you to unpack a little bit what that was like.
00:04:20.160 --> 00:04:26.639
You guys, you guys come here from California, you've had by the world standard successful lives over there.
00:04:26.800 --> 00:04:34.480
Um and you arrive here and you know, did things just take off right away, or was it a bit of a process?
00:04:34.879 --> 00:04:35.759
Talk about that.
00:04:36.079 --> 00:04:37.600
That's real, that's a really good question.
00:04:37.759 --> 00:04:39.600
No, things did not take off.
00:04:39.759 --> 00:04:56.240
Um, so when the Lord began to speak to us to move, you know, what what always happens, especially when you're you know younger in the faith and you haven't taken a huge step of faith, like moving to another state, is you start to figure out how it's all gonna play out.
00:04:56.480 --> 00:05:01.040
So we thought, okay, we're gonna sell our house and we'll buy a house sight unseen.
00:05:01.279 --> 00:05:04.560
And you know, by the time all that happens, we'll move to Montana, we'll have a house.
00:05:04.639 --> 00:05:11.040
And it'll just and we'll just keep doing ministry the way that we've always done it, because we did ministry out of our house and helped disciple people.
00:05:11.360 --> 00:05:13.680
Um, well, that was not how things went.
00:05:13.759 --> 00:05:18.480
Uh, we never found a house before we left, and our house 90-day escrow, done.
00:05:18.720 --> 00:05:19.680
We had to leave.
00:05:19.920 --> 00:05:22.319
So we all packed up in our vehicles.
00:05:22.560 --> 00:05:26.319
Luckily, we had God had led us through another whole crazy story.
00:05:26.399 --> 00:05:28.399
Uh, but to buy this passenger van.
00:05:28.480 --> 00:05:34.160
We just thought we bought it as like something to go on vacation as a family because uh we were always into camping.
00:05:34.319 --> 00:05:44.959
Um, but God had made it very clear to buy this, even miraculously, we got it for sixty thousand dollars cheaper um than asking price off of the new lot, which was insane.
00:05:45.120 --> 00:05:46.480
So the Lord totally opened the door.
00:05:46.560 --> 00:05:51.600
Well, we had no idea it was because we were about to live in that van for the next three months without a house.
00:05:51.839 --> 00:05:58.240
Um, so for grown adults, because me, my sister, my parents, we lived in this van in Montana.
00:05:58.399 --> 00:06:02.399
And see, I can make it sound luxurious and wow, we had so much faith.
00:06:02.560 --> 00:06:04.319
But in that moment, we were questioning everything.
00:06:04.480 --> 00:06:05.199
Are we crazy?
00:06:05.360 --> 00:06:07.439
We just moved, we left everything.
00:06:07.600 --> 00:06:09.279
Like, are we hearing from God?
00:06:09.360 --> 00:06:16.160
Now we're in this little van living on random people's properties and in campsites, and it did not take off.
00:06:16.319 --> 00:06:21.439
And and a lot of people we tried to connect with, it just didn't seem like anything was materializing.
00:06:21.680 --> 00:06:24.959
But I think it was the moment where God was saying, Do you trust me?
00:06:25.040 --> 00:06:26.879
It's not about your plan anymore.
00:06:27.040 --> 00:06:37.279
Like, we had a ministry in California where, and all glory to God for this, but literally at the end of it, we were having people over at our house every single night, seven days a week.
00:06:37.519 --> 00:06:42.639
And my dad was working full time, and then we'd have people over at night, and it was like, wow, so fruitful.
00:06:42.720 --> 00:06:47.920
And I think a lot of us are tempted to say, This is the Christian life.
00:06:48.000 --> 00:06:48.560
This is amazing.
00:06:48.639 --> 00:06:51.600
We have the good job, we have the nice house, we have people that we're helping.
00:06:51.759 --> 00:06:53.439
And God's like, leave all of that.
00:06:53.519 --> 00:06:55.519
And so getting here, it's like, there's no fruit.
00:06:55.600 --> 00:06:58.160
Why did we leave all this amazing fruit behind?
00:06:58.399 --> 00:07:01.199
But it was God saying, Will you trust me?
00:07:01.360 --> 00:07:05.920
And it took a couple years of processing that, and we did find a house and la-di-da.
00:07:06.480 --> 00:07:11.120
But once we decided, okay, God, we trust you, we we just want to follow you.
00:07:11.600 --> 00:07:15.839
Doors started opening, and now obviously there's a lot more ministry opportunity.
00:07:15.920 --> 00:07:17.759
But at the time, we're like, Why are we here?
00:07:17.920 --> 00:07:19.360
I don't know why we're here.
00:07:19.519 --> 00:07:24.000
Um, so I don't know if that answers your question, but that was it, definitely did not just go smoothly.
00:07:24.079 --> 00:07:25.199
It was hard.
00:07:25.680 --> 00:07:26.000
Yeah.
00:07:26.079 --> 00:07:35.279
Well, I I wonder as you're sharing that, what comes to my mind is I believe there's some listeners listening to this that are in that place where they've had these doubts.
00:07:35.439 --> 00:07:42.720
They've had these doubts because they've taken a some type of radical step with the Lord, whether it's a move or something else.
00:07:42.959 --> 00:07:44.879
What advice would you give them?
00:07:45.120 --> 00:07:56.000
Because I and I think that's what I was trying to unpack there, when you're in that place where you obeyed, and we're gonna hear the rest of the story in this podcast, but the the rest of the story hasn't come yet.
00:07:56.240 --> 00:08:02.319
You know, the Abraham leave your place and go, and then there's famine in the land type of thing, you know.
00:08:02.399 --> 00:08:04.800
And there's yes, it's not the rest of the story.
00:08:04.959 --> 00:08:09.600
What would you say to our listeners who feel like I've obeyed, but I haven't yet seen the fruit?
00:08:09.839 --> 00:08:13.120
Wow, yeah, that's such a good, deep question.
00:08:13.360 --> 00:08:16.560
Um I have so many thoughts on this.
00:08:16.720 --> 00:08:21.279
This has actually been like kind of my last three years work of just studying this.
00:08:21.519 --> 00:08:26.639
Um I think number one, studying the scripture.
00:08:26.800 --> 00:08:33.840
Because in my life right now, I've had things that God has spoken that have come to pass, and I have other things that God's spoken years ago that have not come to pass.
00:08:33.919 --> 00:08:35.759
I'm still waiting on those things.
00:08:36.080 --> 00:08:58.720
And the only thing that has kept me waiting and kept me believing that God is gonna come through and not start doubting and going down these crazy rabbit holes of maybe I don't hear from God and all this, is by studying the scripture and saying, wait, it it is not um see to most Christian circles, especially in America, it's abnormal the story that I'm telling, right?
00:08:58.799 --> 00:09:00.559
Like leaving on faith, doing all this.
00:09:00.639 --> 00:09:02.559
But in the Bible, this is the norm.
00:09:02.720 --> 00:09:03.600
This is what we see.
00:09:03.759 --> 00:09:08.240
David, he is he is anointed as king, and then he gets chased for over 10 years.
00:09:08.399 --> 00:09:11.440
And and he's probably in the cave thinking, I'm never gonna be king, right?
00:09:11.519 --> 00:09:12.879
Like he had to have doubts.
00:09:13.200 --> 00:09:14.799
Um, Joseph, right?
00:09:14.879 --> 00:09:17.360
He's in he's in prison, they think, for 13 years.
00:09:17.519 --> 00:09:19.519
And there's this great psalm.
00:09:19.679 --> 00:09:22.879
It's um oh man, I gotta find it real quick.
00:09:23.039 --> 00:09:24.960
I think it's Psalm 105.
00:09:25.759 --> 00:09:31.600
Um but this psalm completely changed my outlook on everything.
00:09:31.840 --> 00:09:37.840
Uh Psalm 105, uh verse 19, it's talking about Joseph.
00:09:37.919 --> 00:09:44.559
It says, Until the time that his word came to pass, meaning God's word, the word of the Lord tested him.
00:09:44.879 --> 00:09:52.320
And so God will always call you to something and say, Oh, there's there's there's this there's beauty that's going to take place here.
00:09:52.480 --> 00:09:56.799
And then you step out of the boat, and all of a sudden you're like, I'm not seeing it, Lord.
00:09:56.879 --> 00:10:00.000
Like Abraham, you're gonna have a son, okay, 25 years, what's going on?
00:10:00.159 --> 00:10:07.120
But it's in that time that God actually tests your character to make you be able to hold and handle what he's giving you.
00:10:07.360 --> 00:10:12.720
He grew in David that godly character, so that when he became king, he became the best king.
00:10:13.039 --> 00:10:22.399
And so studying that helped me to actually see that what I was experiencing was not anti-biblical, it was actually extremely biblical because we had family members, friends.
00:10:22.559 --> 00:10:24.559
Oh, you guys are crazy for believing this stuff.
00:10:24.639 --> 00:10:29.279
And then I'm looking at scripture and I'm like, are we the crazy ones or or are they?
00:10:29.360 --> 00:10:35.200
Because I see it all over scripture, people going on faith, walking out of in things.
00:10:35.279 --> 00:10:39.679
I mean, Hebrews 11 says they believed in things that they never saw come to pass.
00:10:39.919 --> 00:10:56.480
Um, so I think being rooted in the scripture, obviously, secret place, prayer, all those things, yes, but the scripture helped to bear witness that my experience was not, I was not alone in it, that this was very natural, um, that there is a waiting period, there's a testing period.
00:10:56.559 --> 00:11:01.360
Uh, I'll say one last thing because it's something that the Holy Spirit spoke to me a lot in that time.
00:11:01.519 --> 00:11:07.120
Um, God does not value the destination over the journey, he values them the same.
00:11:07.279 --> 00:11:12.320
So he will use the journey every step to get you to the destination.
00:11:12.399 --> 00:11:14.559
It's not just about going from point A to point B.
00:11:14.720 --> 00:11:16.000
He loves the middle.
00:11:16.159 --> 00:11:19.600
It's like you go from glory to glory.
00:11:19.840 --> 00:11:30.240
There's that middle of testing and trials and growing your faith so that in the future you can step out in even greater things, and you're like, I know that the Lord will will come, will come through.
00:11:30.399 --> 00:11:31.759
So yeah.
00:11:32.639 --> 00:11:41.360
One of the things that's interesting about uh your situation, your life, Taylor, is your family, you you guys minister together as a family.
00:11:41.519 --> 00:11:50.799
And before we unpack that a little more, um, could you speak of in the midst of this crazy faith journey of moving to Calisbell and going through all of this?
00:11:50.879 --> 00:11:53.279
You're you're you're in this van together.
00:11:53.440 --> 00:12:00.960
Um literally, how did journeying together as a family um strengthen your relationship?
00:12:02.559 --> 00:12:03.840
That's a great question.
00:12:04.080 --> 00:12:09.360
It man, when you're that close with people, uh I had a rooftop tent.
00:12:09.440 --> 00:12:17.120
So just to make it clear, I slept in the rooftop tent, but our means of transformation, the where we hung out, our kitchen, everything was in this fan, this 18-foot fan.
00:12:17.279 --> 00:12:28.799
So um, but man, it it grew us, and not only did it grow us, it exposed a lot that was there that could not be hidden because we were together.
00:12:28.960 --> 00:12:40.799
And I'm not just talking about um intentional sin, but things just like irritation and offense and um you know our doubts and our desires, right?
00:12:40.879 --> 00:12:43.279
We have one vehicle, we can only do one thing.
00:12:43.440 --> 00:12:45.279
We had we had to stay together.
00:12:45.519 --> 00:12:48.159
Um, so it really strengthened us.
00:12:48.240 --> 00:12:57.759
I mean, we look back on that time and we are so thankful for it because we grew so close together because it was not my dad's faith that got us here.
00:12:57.840 --> 00:13:01.200
It wasn't my faith, it wasn't my sister's, it wasn't my mom's, it was all of ours.
00:13:01.360 --> 00:13:07.120
Every time one of us had a low moment, we had to be there to step in to say, wait, guys, let's believe what the Lord said.
00:13:07.200 --> 00:13:08.559
Let's look back on these words.
00:13:08.720 --> 00:13:11.360
Remember, he spoke this, la-da.
00:13:11.919 --> 00:13:16.720
And um, it yeah, it absolutely grew us, and that's that pressing.
00:13:16.799 --> 00:13:19.120
God, God's like pressing in on us.
00:13:19.360 --> 00:13:35.120
Um, and when you go through real life circumstance with those you love, it allows you to go a lot deeper in in your relationships, and I think that's really benefited us in ministering as well.
00:13:35.519 --> 00:13:36.159
Yeah.
00:13:36.559 --> 00:13:37.200
Sure.
00:13:37.519 --> 00:13:57.360
So talk about your media marketing job, how you got that, a little bit about how um what God's done through that, both from this from the standpoint of provision, but also just from the standpoint of um kind of the platform that gives you with other people in its question.
00:13:57.600 --> 00:14:01.840
Yeah, well, it's actually a really I'll say the coolest story about my my job.
00:14:02.000 --> 00:14:16.480
I've only had it for three or four years, but when I moved here, I didn't have a job and I felt I didn't feel the Lord was telling me to just like walk away from these skills that I had grown in for 10 years of of filmmaking.
00:14:16.559 --> 00:14:19.279
And so I was a little bit in a rock and a hard place.
00:14:19.360 --> 00:14:24.399
I the joke is you don't go to Montana to be a filmmaker, um, especially not from LA.
00:14:24.480 --> 00:14:32.159
And so I heard the Lord whisper to me, um, seek first the kingdom and all these things will be added, you know.
00:14:32.240 --> 00:14:36.879
And he's talking about that in the context of worrying and worrying about you know how you're gonna eat.
00:14:37.360 --> 00:14:43.039
And and I saw my debt, which is not good, I admit that this is not this was sin at the time.
00:14:43.200 --> 00:14:48.320
Um, but my debt was rising, like credit card, and I had things I had to pay, and I don't have a job and I don't know what to do.
00:14:48.399 --> 00:14:49.279
We're in a new place.
00:14:49.360 --> 00:14:52.639
And the Lord just said, seek first the kingdom and all these things.
00:14:52.799 --> 00:14:53.120
Okay.
00:14:53.279 --> 00:14:58.080
So I really submitted myself to serving God, ministry, podcasting.
00:14:59.200 --> 00:15:05.919
And at the time, I was also just making silly little adventure videos in Montana of me just going camping.
00:15:06.159 --> 00:15:09.279
And at the very end of the video, I would put all glory to Jesus.
00:15:09.440 --> 00:15:11.440
Very simple, nothing too crazy.
00:15:11.759 --> 00:15:14.240
Had like 400 subscribers, nothing.
00:15:15.120 --> 00:15:17.440
This guy finds my YouTube channel.
00:15:17.600 --> 00:15:20.240
He loves that it says all glory to Jesus at the end.
00:15:20.320 --> 00:15:21.919
So he reaches out to me on Instagram.
00:15:22.080 --> 00:15:24.879
Hey, we have this client, we need this work done.
00:15:25.039 --> 00:15:27.840
Would you like to do a test run with us for X amount of dollars?
00:15:27.919 --> 00:15:29.120
I was like, sure.
00:15:29.840 --> 00:15:35.360
And from there, praise be to God, that video that I made saved the relationship with the client.
00:15:35.600 --> 00:15:38.639
And I have worked for that person ever since.
00:15:38.799 --> 00:15:39.840
We are great friends.
00:15:40.000 --> 00:15:49.200
He's a he's a Catholic brother, but um, when I first met him, I told him our whole story, everything, visions, demons, all the you know, craziness.
00:15:49.279 --> 00:15:50.720
And here it is.
00:15:50.960 --> 00:16:02.960
And um man, God has used that as a blessing, and God has also used that story to for me to use for younger people to say, Hey, listen, truly, if you seek God, seek the kingdom, he will provide.
00:16:03.039 --> 00:16:04.320
Like that job came.
00:16:04.639 --> 00:16:11.840
I mean, that there's no way anyone should find my YouTube, which had no subscribers, and I get hired for an awesome job that I've had for four years.
00:16:12.080 --> 00:16:15.360
And so um, that's been that's been amazing.
00:16:15.440 --> 00:16:20.480
So the way that I found it has been good, and the conversations that have come out of it have been really great as well.
00:16:20.559 --> 00:16:29.679
Actually, the guy who hired me, he started listening to my podcast and would like talk to me about it, have questions, and we've we get into it's mainly me and him all always together.
00:16:29.759 --> 00:16:46.080
So we've had some really great deep talks and just like challenging um conversations, and you know, I'll say this as the last thing because we work so closely together and we work with a lot of people we know, it's it's not like the best mission field.
00:16:46.159 --> 00:16:50.480
We get there, we we film, and then we leave, and it's like people that we know and that are Christian most of the time.
00:16:50.720 --> 00:17:11.200
But what has been cool is um the way that God has used this job in order to grow us closer to him and and also to make sure that we give glory to God in everything that we do.
00:17:12.400 --> 00:17:31.200
So when we see favor in in our workplace, I'm always trying to remind him, like, dude, this is this is the Lord, and if we ever begin to dishonor him or take jobs that are not in alignment with who he is out of fear or out of oh, I need the money, he will absolutely cut this off because we're not honoring him.
00:17:31.359 --> 00:17:34.160
And so it's been a really cool relationship.
00:17:34.240 --> 00:17:41.039
And I I think the best is yet to come with me and the guy that I work for, but um yeah, so many great opportunities to share with him.
00:17:41.119 --> 00:17:42.400
And oh, I know what I was gonna say.
00:17:42.480 --> 00:17:45.039
There's one other thing that I want to encourage all the listeners.
00:17:45.119 --> 00:17:54.000
You know, when you do something radical in your life, like shift and move from everything you know, there's no other story to hide behind.
00:17:54.640 --> 00:18:01.119
It's it makes sharing the gospel so much easier because when people ask you any question about your life, it's all funneled through the Lord.
00:18:01.200 --> 00:18:02.559
It's like, well, why are you in Calspot?
00:18:02.640 --> 00:18:03.440
Well, God told me to move here.
00:18:03.519 --> 00:18:04.240
Why do you have this job?
00:18:04.400 --> 00:18:05.279
Well, let me tell you this story.
00:18:05.359 --> 00:18:06.640
Well, why do you have this vehicle?
00:18:06.720 --> 00:18:08.240
Well, God gave me this dream.
00:18:08.480 --> 00:18:14.400
The more that you do life with the Lord and you live radically for Him, it just it just flows.
00:18:14.559 --> 00:18:19.119
It just flows out wherever you're at, you know, and it's it's awesome.
00:18:19.680 --> 00:18:22.319
Well, that's that's money right there, what you just said.
00:18:22.400 --> 00:18:24.240
That's powerful, powerful statement.
00:18:24.559 --> 00:18:35.680
Yeah, when we when we do things radically that God asks us to do, you know, that's testimony right there and opportunities to share about the God that we serve.
00:18:35.839 --> 00:18:36.240
I love that.
00:18:36.319 --> 00:18:37.119
I love that so much.
00:18:37.279 --> 00:18:42.400
Yes, yes, good, so good, such good motivation for for me as well, as I hear that.
00:18:42.720 --> 00:18:51.279
Um, one thing I've noticed as you've been sharing so far, and I've been reflecting on is I know that you pour into a lot of young adults.
00:18:51.359 --> 00:19:12.079
Um, and you've mentioned this already a little bit, but I I really feel like the experience that you had following God in this journey, and I'm sure also back in California as well, but especially in this transition, is has positioned you to be so effective at discipling people, um, just from your own journey.
00:19:12.240 --> 00:19:13.039
Am I correct?
00:19:15.119 --> 00:19:16.319
I hope so.
00:19:16.559 --> 00:19:31.759
I yes, I I I definitely believe um so, because something that I tell some of the young people, especially the young people that want to be leaders and stuff, is um you can't uh you can't buy history with God.
00:19:31.839 --> 00:19:34.960
Uh, it's only something that you get over time.
00:19:35.279 --> 00:19:46.799
Um, so you can know the scripture, you could read the Bible, speed read it, get it done, you know, and be on fire in your first year, but history with God has developed over time and testing and walking out in faith.
00:19:46.880 --> 00:19:50.720
I mean, the Bible is clear, like the only way to please God is through faith.
00:19:50.960 --> 00:20:15.920
So I really have been trying to encourage these kids that or these young adults, I should say, they're not all kids, but if the highest view of life that I have is white picket fence, house and wife, I'm limiting um my view to what society tells me is amazing and not what the Bible tells me is is God's will.
00:20:16.079 --> 00:20:17.519
And so that's the biggest problem.
00:20:17.599 --> 00:20:24.400
I think one of the bigger problems we have in America is our dreams and our ideas of success are based upon culture, right?
00:20:24.480 --> 00:20:40.559
Like I think having retirement is great, but just because the society tells us to have a retirement doesn't necessarily mean God is telling you to work your absolute butt off for 40 years just so you can enjoy a cruise when you're 65.
00:20:40.799 --> 00:20:42.559
I'm trying to get that into kids' mind.
00:20:42.640 --> 00:20:53.599
I'm not saying that retirement's not a good idea, but if we are thinking heavenly minded, we will be able to do far more for the kingdom and experience the glories of God.
00:20:53.680 --> 00:20:57.519
I never thought I would enjoy moving to Montana and completely changing my life.
00:20:57.680 --> 00:21:00.079
I have more joy than I've ever had.
00:21:00.319 --> 00:21:03.680
And I'm doing none of the things that I wanted to do.
00:21:04.079 --> 00:21:16.319
And so absolutely going through that has encouraged people because for anyone of you listening, whenever you do something radical, people will start to look at you like a unicorn, meaning they don't understand it.
00:21:16.480 --> 00:21:21.119
They're like, you don't fit in my mold because they have an idea of what a Christian looks like.
00:21:21.359 --> 00:21:27.440
And when you start to be a real radical follower of Christ, they're like, that that doesn't make sense.
00:21:27.519 --> 00:21:28.240
And that's good.
00:21:28.480 --> 00:21:40.400
People need people like that in order to reveal to them their comfortability or their maybe lack of faith, not in a condemning way, but to open their eyes to whoa, there's more.
00:21:40.640 --> 00:21:44.400
Um, and so that has been a huge part of the discipleship.
00:21:44.559 --> 00:21:50.319
Um, because if we want to see radical things, uh it requires radical change.
00:21:50.640 --> 00:21:52.880
Radical change requires radical change.
00:21:53.200 --> 00:21:59.200
Um, but you can't, you know, yeah, you you you have to you have to be all in.
00:21:59.279 --> 00:21:59.759
So yeah, that.
00:22:00.079 --> 00:22:16.799
If that answers your question, I do have more that I would like to talk about with discipleship, but that that journey absolutely um has helped to see to help to show the kids that there is so much more than just church on Sunday and adding God to your life.
00:22:18.000 --> 00:22:21.359
You guys are new to the valley, or you were a few years ago.
00:22:21.519 --> 00:22:26.079
Um, we say the valley because that's the language we use for the Flathead Valley here.
00:22:26.240 --> 00:22:35.119
Um talk about how you started to actually be able to disciple people when you when you don't have a lot of relational connection.
00:22:35.200 --> 00:22:37.039
How did God open those doors?
00:22:37.839 --> 00:22:39.359
That's a great question.
00:22:41.759 --> 00:22:58.079
Well, when we got here, uh there was a ministry that we had been loosely affiliated with, and they had a couple people here that uh were loosely affiliated with it as well, to keep that brief and broad, um, that we connected with.
00:22:58.160 --> 00:23:01.920
So we just said, hey, like we have a mutual interest in this ministry.
00:23:04.160 --> 00:23:08.720
And that led to some prayer meetings and and just meeting people.
00:23:08.799 --> 00:23:15.759
And I think what was important is when we were invited to those prayer meetings, we just showed up.
00:23:15.839 --> 00:23:20.480
And like, like I said, when you have a radical story, all glory to God, but you can't hide.
00:23:20.559 --> 00:23:22.079
It's like, oh, why are you here?
00:23:22.240 --> 00:23:26.480
It would just come out, and people would be like, wait, I've never heard of that before.
00:23:26.640 --> 00:23:27.519
Wait, that's crazy.
00:23:27.599 --> 00:23:28.720
Wait, hold on.
00:23:28.799 --> 00:23:39.599
And and we would also share about our ministry what we had seen with um healing the sick, casting out demons, seeing lives completely change, and people are like, Whoa, I've never, I've never seen this in church before.
00:23:39.839 --> 00:23:44.960
And so that would spark interest, and little fires would start, but it it still was bumpy.
00:23:45.039 --> 00:23:51.440
It's like, okay, there'd be a good moment, we'd have a great conversation, we'd have a great meeting, and then you never hear from that person again or whatever.
00:23:51.599 --> 00:23:56.480
But I think it was the culmination of just being obedient with every door that God opened.
00:23:56.559 --> 00:24:01.440
I mean, you know just as well as me, sometimes open doors can be very awkward.
00:24:01.599 --> 00:24:11.200
And we went through a lot of awkward situations with people, meeting new people, but it was just we're gonna be faithful, we're gonna share what we know, we're gonna share what we've experienced, we're gonna share the love of Christ.
00:24:11.440 --> 00:24:19.039
And eventually, uh, I was at a movie, funnily enough, a movie about casting out demons, would you would you imagine?
00:24:19.279 --> 00:24:23.279
And uh there were a couple kids there, and I and I'm like, okay, this is weird.
00:24:23.359 --> 00:24:31.759
And I look look behind me, and in the movie at the end, the guy on the screen was praying for people in the audience, and one of the girls starts getting delivered of a spirit of suicide.
00:24:31.839 --> 00:24:35.200
And I'm like, we're praying over her, and then I'm like, hey, who are you guys?
00:24:35.359 --> 00:24:38.799
And from there, so many doors opened up.
00:24:38.880 --> 00:24:41.039
It was a little scary, but I was like, hey, who are you?
00:24:41.200 --> 00:24:44.480
Work, I'm a kid, you're a kid, like, let's connect, you know.
00:24:44.559 --> 00:24:47.920
And and um, we started doing house church from from that meeting.
00:24:48.079 --> 00:24:51.359
One of the guys was like, I want to know how you guys worship.
00:24:51.519 --> 00:24:56.640
Um, and I told him my whole testimony of how God had set me free from pornography and all these things.
00:24:56.799 --> 00:25:04.960
And finally it was like the damn broke, and just there was so many people now that were hungry, and people started inviting people and word spread.
00:25:05.039 --> 00:25:11.039
And so I think just being faithful with every opportunity, you know, like you're not gonna get to preach to a hundred people day one.
00:25:11.119 --> 00:25:15.359
Sometimes you got to just meet everyone where they're at and just share the love of God.
00:25:15.920 --> 00:25:19.519
Yeah, it's it's like the the picture that comes to me as you're sharing that.
00:25:19.680 --> 00:25:28.400
It's like where you where you pile stuff on higher and higher and higher, and eventually the last little bit's enough to just break things open, right?
00:25:28.799 --> 00:25:30.319
And that's exactly how it feels.
00:25:30.480 --> 00:25:32.160
And that's what seems like it happened there.
00:25:32.240 --> 00:25:42.240
You know, you just kept being obedient, kept being obedient, even if it didn't turn out like you liked, and eventually it just bursts bursts free and and leads to your ministry.
00:25:42.559 --> 00:25:43.440
Well, it's cool too.
00:25:43.519 --> 00:25:45.519
I'll say one thing to that, if you don't mind.
00:25:45.680 --> 00:25:54.240
Um, one of the people that we ministered to super early on, some of them actually might even listen to this, but that's totally okay because this is an amazing story.
00:25:54.400 --> 00:25:55.680
Um, it was kind of like that.
00:25:55.759 --> 00:26:01.839
I remember we were at a prayer meeting, and my sister got this word for this family, and the word was God's gonna redeem your whole family.
00:26:01.920 --> 00:26:03.759
And a lot of them were lost.
00:26:04.079 --> 00:26:05.359
And we don't even know them.
00:26:05.519 --> 00:26:12.319
And okay, cool, you know, pray over them and would see them once in a while, and nothing seemed to really flow.
00:26:13.039 --> 00:26:21.279
And then little by little, slowly, God started bringing every single person in their family, not not by us, by just the glory of God, back to himself.
00:26:21.839 --> 00:26:36.559
And now those people who we met day one, who we are just faithful to share what we knew, pray for them, help them in whatever way we could, are some of the most solid people that are we're actually doing ministry hand in hand with now, which I never saw coming.
00:26:36.720 --> 00:26:39.920
Um, I mean, literally just saw both of them today.
00:26:40.160 --> 00:26:44.079
So um it just shows like never underestimate obedience.
00:26:44.160 --> 00:26:46.160
I've had people that we preach to.
00:26:46.480 --> 00:26:53.119
Five years later, they message you, hey, I know I didn't receive it at that time, but like I'm open now.
00:26:53.279 --> 00:26:54.240
I actually do want it.
00:26:54.319 --> 00:26:59.440
Like I'm thankful for what you guys told me, even though in the moment it was hard, I was offended, whatever.
00:26:59.680 --> 00:27:04.000
Never give up on people because every open door is open for a reason.
00:27:04.400 --> 00:27:05.599
So good, Taylor.
00:27:05.759 --> 00:27:06.400
So good.
00:27:06.880 --> 00:27:14.160
Um, I want to get more into your heart for disciple making, um, what you think is really key in that.
00:27:14.319 --> 00:27:23.200
I know one of the things when in one of the first conversations that I had with you, you you talked about how you were discipling quote unquote Christians.
00:27:23.359 --> 00:27:32.880
And it's you know, people that are that are churched, that have a church background, but that haven't haven't really taken that step forward to be a full-on disciple.
00:27:33.039 --> 00:27:45.839
So if you could unpack a little bit of how you help people see what it really means to be a disciple, and then just some of your um just history with that, thoughts on that, just take that wherever you want to.
00:27:46.240 --> 00:27:46.720
Awesome.
00:27:46.799 --> 00:27:48.079
Yeah, I love that question.
00:27:48.319 --> 00:27:53.440
Um yeah, so let me take this back a little bit to kind of where I started.
00:27:53.599 --> 00:27:58.400
Um, when we kind of got on this journey eight years ago of really saying we're gonna follow God.
00:27:59.039 --> 00:28:02.400
This can be controversial, but I I know that it to be true.
00:28:02.559 --> 00:28:05.039
I, if anyone asked me, like, oh, how long have you known the Lord?
00:28:05.119 --> 00:28:05.839
I would say eight years.
00:28:05.920 --> 00:28:13.920
Now I've grown up, I grew up in church, I did all the things, um, but according to scripture, I did not know him um until eight years ago.
00:28:14.240 --> 00:28:18.480
And so when that happened, my eyes were open to sin.
00:28:18.720 --> 00:28:20.720
The fear of the Lord filled me.
00:28:21.039 --> 00:28:33.039
And I also saw um how one not only was I being disobedient to the word, but I myself, besides from you know, just growing up, had not been discipled.
00:28:33.279 --> 00:28:36.240
And because you kind of look at your own progression, like, wait, how did I get here?
00:28:36.400 --> 00:28:48.079
Obviously, it's my fault, but also there was no program for me to be discipled to keep myself away from falling into porn, cursing, demonic music, um, bad friends, all the things, you know.
00:28:48.880 --> 00:28:52.400
Um so I think that was where my first heart was.
00:28:52.559 --> 00:28:56.160
And kind of when God showed us this, it was twofold.
00:28:56.240 --> 00:28:59.759
It was you're lukewarm, you're living in sin, you're not living for me.
00:28:59.920 --> 00:29:02.799
You you confess me with your mouth, but your heart is far from me.
00:29:03.039 --> 00:29:07.759
And then two, you have disobeyed the great commission, which says to go and make disciples.
00:29:07.839 --> 00:29:14.319
And my especially for my parents, like we we're 50, we've never made a disciple besides our kids, you know, huge conviction there.
00:29:15.200 --> 00:29:23.680
And a lot changed, but when we got here, we had already been doing discipleship ministry, but the Lord started opening, no, I'm gonna be 28 here in a couple weeks.
00:29:23.759 --> 00:29:38.400
So the Lord kind of brought me into overseen by my parents, but doing my own ministry with my sister of discipling young people and what my heart is there's there's a lot here.
00:29:38.720 --> 00:29:43.599
Um, people my age need to know truth.
00:29:43.680 --> 00:29:45.200
So here's here's what we've done.
00:29:45.599 --> 00:29:52.640
Not we just I think generally what I see it at least in American churches, but there's two ways of giving the gospel.
00:29:52.960 --> 00:29:55.759
There's a palatable way, and then there's a watered-down way.
00:29:55.839 --> 00:29:56.640
They're not the same.
00:29:56.880 --> 00:30:05.519
It's not bad to make the gospel palatable to where someone's at, but it is bad to remove parts in order for them to receive it easier.
00:30:06.799 --> 00:30:10.640
So my sister got this prophetic word uh over five years ago.
00:30:10.720 --> 00:30:19.200
She said it said, um from the Lord, he he spoke don't compromise the truth thinking that you're helping people.
00:30:19.680 --> 00:30:26.400
And I told some people even today, if the truth sets you free, then if I give a half truth, it only sets someone half free.
00:30:26.799 --> 00:30:28.480
And half freedom is not freedom.
00:30:28.720 --> 00:30:30.079
That's the joke, right?
00:30:30.319 --> 00:30:39.920
So what I realize is people don't know the truth, they don't know the scripture, they don't read the Bible, or if they do, they read it through the lens of, yeah, yeah, but I'm fine.
00:30:40.079 --> 00:30:40.720
It's okay.
00:30:40.880 --> 00:30:47.279
I can live my way, I can live in sin, I can live apart from God, and I I'm still gonna be with him for eternity.
00:30:47.440 --> 00:30:56.799
And I see in scripture strongly the opposite that actually a true encounter with God will lead to holiness flowing out of your life, that every good tree bears good fruit.
00:30:57.039 --> 00:30:59.759
Any any tree that bears bad fruit is a bad tree.
00:30:59.920 --> 00:31:01.440
Just read it in 1 John last night.
00:31:01.599 --> 00:31:04.160
Anyone who continues in sin is of the devil.
00:31:04.480 --> 00:31:10.319
And um, not in a condemning way, but I felt the power of the glory of God say, like the fear of God, I should say.
00:31:10.480 --> 00:31:13.279
We need to help these young people to know the truth.
00:31:13.839 --> 00:31:18.480
And along with that, I'm sorry, this is going to be a bit of a longer answer, but I I feel this is very important.
00:31:18.720 --> 00:31:33.599
Along with that, God showed us in ministry that the reason so many people are struggling, for one is because they haven't surrendered, sure, but they're also lacking the tools in which they need to overcome sin.
00:31:33.839 --> 00:31:35.519
So Hebrews 6 makes it very clear.
00:31:35.599 --> 00:31:37.200
Here are the elementary teachings of the faith.
00:31:37.279 --> 00:31:40.960
Now, elementary school, you can't go further unless you went to elementary school.
00:31:41.039 --> 00:31:42.720
It's l it's elementary.
00:31:42.799 --> 00:31:44.319
That's why we call it that.
00:31:44.559 --> 00:31:47.039
And he says the elementary teachings are these six things.
00:31:47.200 --> 00:32:05.839
He says, um uh repentance from dead works, belief in God, uh, uh water baptism, uh, the laying on of hands, which I believe is talking about the praying for the Holy Spirit, because in the the first church they would lay the hands and the Holy Spirit would come, the resurrection of the dead and eternal judgment.
00:32:06.000 --> 00:32:08.640
So to me, I said, I have six hills that I'll die on.
00:32:08.880 --> 00:32:11.359
Those those things are fundamental, elementary.
00:32:12.079 --> 00:32:18.799
And as we started to do ministry, I found we found sadly, some people didn't even know what the word repent meant.
00:32:18.960 --> 00:32:26.960
They had never repented, some of them had never been baptized, Romans 6, they had never been buried with Christ and risen into a new creation.
00:32:27.119 --> 00:32:30.160
Some of them didn't have the Holy Spirit, they had no fruit of the Holy Spirit.
00:32:30.240 --> 00:32:34.079
You see in Acts 19, uh, these men, Paul's like, hey, did you receive it when you believed?
00:32:34.160 --> 00:32:37.200
They're like, we don't even know there's a Holy Spirit, but they believed in Jesus.
00:32:37.440 --> 00:32:39.680
Same thing happens in uh Acts 8.
00:32:39.759 --> 00:32:53.119
And so we would find when we actually equip them with all the tools that they needed and give them a clear gospel of, hey, Jesus came not just to get you to heaven, but to set you free from sin so that you could be the righteousness of Christ here on the earth.
00:32:53.359 --> 00:33:13.519
When we would give them that full package, I'm telling you, Jay, hundreds of people, their lives were changed overnight, suicidal, addicted, um, depressed, anxious people, changed in one night, living a completely free life, not saying they don't sin, but a free from constant rebellion towards God.
00:33:14.079 --> 00:33:14.799
And guess what?
00:33:14.960 --> 00:33:17.839
The gospel would start to spread like wildfire, domino effect.
00:33:17.920 --> 00:33:22.880
They would tell three friends, and now those three friends are, hey, can you walk us through the gospel?
00:33:22.960 --> 00:33:23.839
Can you help us repent?
00:33:23.920 --> 00:33:27.680
And what we did with that, it wasn't just here, come and let me tell you.
00:33:27.759 --> 00:33:32.640
We would start to train up those who we had just baptized to teach other people.
00:33:32.960 --> 00:33:35.359
Because, like Paul said, I didn't I didn't come to baptize.
00:33:35.440 --> 00:33:38.160
I I'm I want to teach others to do the same thing.
00:33:38.319 --> 00:33:47.839
So I know this is a bit of a long answer, but discipleship is it can't be the pyramid scheme of bring everyone to the man of God because no one is equipped.
00:33:47.920 --> 00:33:58.880
I lived in church, not equipped, didn't know I could pray for the sick, didn't know I could cast out a demon, didn't know I could preach the gospel, but we need to equip everyone to say, you can do this too.
00:33:59.119 --> 00:34:02.799
You have the power, not you, Christ in you.
00:34:03.039 --> 00:34:08.159
Um, and the last thing I'll say what was amazing about this whole process is all these people I'm talking about were Christians.
00:34:08.320 --> 00:34:15.199
They all came out of the church, but they had not been told the gospel, they had not been told the penalty for sin, they had not been told the truth.
00:34:15.360 --> 00:34:17.039
And once they got the truth, what happened?
00:34:17.199 --> 00:34:19.119
They got set free and on fire.
00:34:19.360 --> 00:34:33.199
And so my goal is man, if you can get that to the youth who are way less brainwashed and way less um stubborn, you know, because as we get older, we get more set in our ways, which is good in a sense, but they're so open to the truth.
00:34:33.280 --> 00:34:35.440
They're just dying for something real.
00:34:35.840 --> 00:34:39.360
When we give them what is real, man, you see so much fruit.
00:34:39.440 --> 00:34:41.039
It's it's absolutely insane.
00:34:41.199 --> 00:34:42.480
Um, maybe you have a question.
00:34:42.559 --> 00:34:47.519
I don't want to hog the mic too long, um, but that's a lot of my heart expressed.
00:34:48.320 --> 00:34:52.239
No, I didn't want to cut you off because it was really good to hear all that.
00:34:52.400 --> 00:34:57.599
Um I'm gonna ask you a another question slightly different.
00:34:57.840 --> 00:35:07.440
Um when you come to an area like this, and this is true of a lot of um the United States, um, we are heavily churched.
00:35:07.599 --> 00:35:11.199
So there's a lot of ministries, there's a lot of churches that are already here.
00:35:11.360 --> 00:35:14.719
And you mentioned when you first came, you know, doing some collaborating.
00:35:14.960 --> 00:35:31.039
Um I believe what you're doing is is really awesome when everything you're describing, but how do you keep your heart pure when you are experiencing people that have been in church that aren't really where you they need to be?
00:35:31.360 --> 00:35:39.039
Um and um, you know, how do you not how do you not get upset at some of these other ministries or churches?
00:35:39.199 --> 00:35:42.000
Um, you know, how do you keep your own heart pure on that?
00:35:42.079 --> 00:35:44.320
And you know, just share any thoughts you have on that.
00:35:45.039 --> 00:35:46.960
Yeah, that's so good, Jay.
00:35:47.280 --> 00:35:51.519
Um, yeah, I'll be 100% uh confess.
00:35:51.679 --> 00:35:56.719
I would say the last two years have been amazing, and I really have not felt that anger towards the church.
00:35:56.880 --> 00:36:07.199
But there were many years in ministry that I think I felt a lot of anger and frustration towards the church, which was wrong, and the Lord corrected me on that because of what I felt was an injustice.
00:36:08.000 --> 00:36:10.880
And and I think some of the anger actually was righteous anger.
00:36:10.960 --> 00:36:13.840
I don't think God likes when people are fully deceived.
00:36:14.000 --> 00:36:37.679
Um, but I think God started to show me kind of like how he showed um, was it Elijah when he went and he's like, Lord, I'm alone, and God's like, No, there's a remnant, like he showed me, no, there are really good people in the church, and there are people who really want to do good by these people, but they they've also been taught maybe incorrectly or they don't know the full truth, but doesn't mean that their heart is wrong.
00:36:37.920 --> 00:36:42.159
And so I think what the Lord has overarchingly taught me is stay in your lane.
00:36:42.239 --> 00:36:45.920
It doesn't matter what they're doing, what are you doing?
00:36:46.400 --> 00:36:53.360
Before, even I would say years ago, it was very cannibalistic in a way.
00:36:53.519 --> 00:36:57.519
It was like, we have the truth, they don't leave that and come here.
00:36:57.840 --> 00:37:08.719
Um, and it obviously we did that in good intention, but now looking back, we have people we have I have a host I host a Bible study on Monday nights, anywhere from 25 to 30 people, they're all different churches.
00:37:08.800 --> 00:37:11.280
We had a Catholic girl show up for a while, it was awesome.
00:37:11.599 --> 00:37:14.800
Never once did I tell any of them, leave your church.
00:37:15.039 --> 00:37:18.880
Now, if I think the Lord very much well could tell them to leave their church.
00:37:18.960 --> 00:37:28.320
And listen, if your church is preaching a heretical gospel, I mean, uh obviously, but it's not about we're all on mission, whether it's in the church or out.
00:37:28.800 --> 00:37:31.599
The gospel's for the church, the gospel's for the unchurched.
00:37:31.840 --> 00:37:41.039
And so, anymore, I'm like, I just want to see people get on fire and get right with God, whether they come to my house church, my Bible study, any church in the valley here.
00:37:41.119 --> 00:37:43.039
I it doesn't, it doesn't matter.
00:37:43.360 --> 00:37:48.960
I want to get them to find the man because let me tell you, you'll just get churched out.
00:37:49.039 --> 00:38:03.599
You'll get tired of the worship music, you'll get tired of the pastor, you'll get tired of if you don't find the man behind these pages, if you don't find Jesus in the secret place, it's all just man stuff, anyways.
00:38:03.760 --> 00:38:06.880
And so God's really shown me, Taylor, it's it's not about you either.
00:38:07.039 --> 00:38:14.400
Just because maybe you have more truth or however you want to say that, or or you know, your method works, it doesn't matter.
00:38:14.639 --> 00:38:20.000
Move with compassion like Jesus did, love the people and don't worry about all the other ministries.
00:38:20.159 --> 00:38:22.800
God will judge them, God will do what he wants with them.
00:38:22.960 --> 00:38:24.320
Just help the people.
00:38:24.480 --> 00:38:27.039
Um, and that's really helped me to just clear keep a clear mind.
00:38:27.199 --> 00:38:28.079
Like, it doesn't matter.
00:38:28.159 --> 00:38:31.840
I'm in my lane, I know what God told me to do, help them.
00:38:32.239 --> 00:38:34.079
So I hope that answers your question.
00:38:34.159 --> 00:38:34.880
But it is hard.
00:38:34.960 --> 00:38:44.239
You do have to pray a lot, and you really um you have to confess the Lord when there does come that competitive spirit over you in ministry of like, nope, it doesn't, it doesn't matter.
00:38:44.320 --> 00:38:45.199
I don't care.
00:38:45.440 --> 00:38:50.400
It's not about me, it's about these kids, it's about these young adults knowing him, you know.
00:38:51.039 --> 00:38:52.960
So it's hard, but yeah.
00:38:54.159 --> 00:38:55.920
Yeah, no, that's really good.
00:38:56.159 --> 00:39:03.599
Um Taylor, I'm wondering if you just have one or two stories that you want to share.
00:39:03.760 --> 00:39:16.639
Uh, it could be anything just over the last few years, or even back in California, of just your your journey with God and miss ministering to others um that just you think would be impactful for our listeners to hear.
00:39:17.440 --> 00:39:18.239
Yeah, sure.
00:39:18.320 --> 00:39:20.880
Let me Holy Spirit.
00:39:21.119 --> 00:39:24.559
There's so many stories that sometimes it's hard to remember all of them.
00:39:28.639 --> 00:39:30.800
I don't know why this one's coming to my mind.
00:39:30.880 --> 00:39:32.639
I there's a couple that come to my mind.
00:39:32.800 --> 00:39:54.480
Um this one's less of like a it's more just reality of what's going on right now, but um it kind of goes along with what I was speaking earlier, but for so long, I think especially young people, because um we have less wisdom, we have less time in this, and even for myself, I'm still young in this.
00:39:55.199 --> 00:40:07.360
Um the temptation would be when a lot of people start showing up to your gatherings to st to not say certain things because it might offend people, it might make them leave, it might make them not like you.
00:40:08.320 --> 00:40:13.440
And what God is showing you about his grace and his goodness, this is not always the case.
00:40:13.599 --> 00:40:18.960
But I made the joke at Bible study last time, like that the more radical I preach, the more people are showing up.
00:40:19.599 --> 00:40:20.800
Now, that's not always the case.
00:40:20.960 --> 00:40:31.519
You read the old testament, that's not always the case, but one of the stories I want to share is truly do not hold back the truth thinking that you're helping.
00:40:32.559 --> 00:40:36.320
So the truth has the power to set people free.
00:40:36.400 --> 00:40:41.840
I mean, last night I preached on intentional sin versus accidental sin.
00:40:42.000 --> 00:40:42.719
It got serious.
00:40:42.800 --> 00:40:49.280
We went to all the scriptures that are scary and hard, and I prayed, Lord, help no one to feel condemnation.
00:40:49.360 --> 00:40:49.920
I don't want that.
00:40:50.000 --> 00:40:55.039
I want us to be awakened, though, to the importance of turning and the importance of repentance.
00:40:55.119 --> 00:41:05.440
And man, we got 25 kids in there, it ended, and there was a joy that filled the room, and everyone was going around the room saying, I'm convicted, I want to change, I want this, I want that.
00:41:06.239 --> 00:41:10.079
There were so many times I was tempted, Jay, to say, I'm sorry, because I know this is heavy.
00:41:10.159 --> 00:41:14.719
And God's like, Don't say sorry, why would you apologize for the truth?
00:41:15.119 --> 00:41:17.920
Last week at Bible study, this is such a cool thing.
00:41:18.159 --> 00:41:26.960
I taught on confession, and uh what we like to do before we take communion is we have everyone, well, not everyone, but if you feel like you want to confess, people confess.
00:41:27.119 --> 00:41:30.960
But in this room we preached on confession, and it was so clear from scripture how powerful it was.
00:41:31.039 --> 00:41:33.280
I said, everyone tonight needs to confess.
00:41:33.440 --> 00:41:44.800
It was 25 kids, and I sat there in silence, watched 25 kids, all mostly under the age of 24, confess their sins to one another.
00:41:45.599 --> 00:41:54.880
I mean, that was I was blown away at the beauty of the truth transforming lives and and the love of Jesus penetrating people.
00:41:54.960 --> 00:42:00.639
And that was like, and then again, I have so many stories of like demons getting cast down, people getting supernaturally healed, and all this stuff.
00:42:00.719 --> 00:42:05.920
But there was something about that that I was like, oh my goodness, they're they're getting it.
00:42:06.000 --> 00:42:15.039
They're they're reading the scripture and not just saying, Oh, it's a good idea to confess, but then they're they're doing it and they're applying it and they're seeing the power of it.
00:42:15.519 --> 00:42:19.440
Um but one other cool story I'll share that was pretty awesome.
00:42:19.599 --> 00:42:41.199
A lot of them come from Bible study because this is one of the main places where the youth gathers, but um we've been doing this Bible study for over a year, and I always try to say, guys, I don't want this to just be a time where we come and learn things, I want it to be an experiential time where we learn, but our learning takes us deeper into knowledge himself because knowledge is a person, is the person of Jesus.
00:42:41.360 --> 00:42:43.199
You cannot understand anything without him.
00:42:43.679 --> 00:42:45.760
And so when you know, it's it's weird.
00:42:45.840 --> 00:42:51.360
Let's say you give a teaching on healing, and then a bunch of people walk out still needing healing.
00:42:51.760 --> 00:42:52.400
That was a great teaching.
00:42:52.480 --> 00:42:55.360
I'm like, okay, you're not you're not getting it.
00:42:55.599 --> 00:43:00.480
I want this to go beyond good teaching, I want it to go beyond lifestyle, you know, to lifestyle.
00:43:00.639 --> 00:43:12.559
And a couple weeks ago or months ago, we were preaching on deliverance, and people um, I shared a ton of stories about people who have um had demonic uh encounters, demonic problems, myself included.
00:43:12.639 --> 00:43:14.559
I was addicted to porn for years.
00:43:14.719 --> 00:43:20.719
Um, I literally got demons cast out of me, and I have not gone back to porn in almost seven years.
00:43:20.960 --> 00:43:22.159
Praise be to God.
00:43:22.639 --> 00:43:26.159
And um, a girl came up to me, she said, I have really bad anger.
00:43:26.320 --> 00:43:26.960
Can you pray for me?
00:43:27.039 --> 00:43:30.079
I've been trying to repent every single day, but it will not go.
00:43:30.320 --> 00:43:34.079
And I was like, Yeah, I was like, Have you ever been prayed for, you know, for deliverance?
00:43:34.239 --> 00:43:34.559
She said, No.
00:43:34.639 --> 00:43:36.159
I was like, Okay, is it is it okay?
00:43:36.239 --> 00:43:36.800
She's like, Yes.
00:43:36.880 --> 00:43:41.039
I call uh my sister over, like, because I didn't want to be a guy doing it on a girl.
00:43:41.199 --> 00:43:45.679
And we just started praying for her Holy Spirit, come, Holy Spirit come and set her free.
00:43:45.920 --> 00:43:47.840
And she started manifesting a demon.
00:43:47.920 --> 00:43:48.800
She started crying.
00:43:48.960 --> 00:43:50.000
The demon left.
00:43:50.159 --> 00:43:53.280
I hear from her the next week zero struggle with anger.
00:43:53.440 --> 00:43:54.719
I'm free, it's gone.
00:43:54.880 --> 00:43:59.280
It's it's like bizarre, Taylor, like how easy it is now to overcome.
00:43:59.440 --> 00:44:03.280
And I was like, yes, someone took the teaching and didn't just say, Oh, that's cool.
00:44:03.519 --> 00:44:04.960
They said, Wait, I need this.
00:44:05.119 --> 00:44:05.920
I believe for this.
00:44:06.079 --> 00:44:07.679
I know that Jesus can set me free.
00:44:08.000 --> 00:44:12.400
They had the the strength to ask, and they got set free right there.
00:44:12.800 --> 00:44:14.480
You know, we've become so intellectual.
00:44:14.559 --> 00:44:16.719
It's like, what about just praying for each other?
00:44:16.960 --> 00:44:18.559
What about asking the Lord?
00:44:18.639 --> 00:44:19.039
You know?
00:44:19.280 --> 00:44:27.039
So man, God is doing something in the youth, and um, we want to be literate in scripture and we want to be literate in the spirit.
00:44:27.280 --> 00:44:29.199
We don't want to favor one side.
00:44:29.760 --> 00:44:32.320
So I don't know, those are just a couple stories that came to my mind.
00:44:32.400 --> 00:44:33.760
Hopefully, those are cool.
00:44:34.159 --> 00:44:36.239
No, they're wonderful, so good.
00:44:36.719 --> 00:44:40.480
Yeah, and I'd also say about discipleship to your question about discipleship.
00:44:40.639 --> 00:44:50.559
Um I try to make discipleship uh is extremely um easy um for people to understand so that they can apply.
00:44:50.719 --> 00:44:57.679
Um when when people uh share the gospel with someone and they say they'll call me or text me, hey Taylor, have this guy interested.
00:44:57.920 --> 00:44:58.480
Can you talk to him?
00:44:58.559 --> 00:44:59.039
Can you this?
00:44:59.119 --> 00:44:59.760
Can you that?
00:45:00.320 --> 00:45:06.800
I'll discern sometimes yes, but sometimes, hey, actually, no, I think you should meet with them and I think you should tell them.
00:45:07.280 --> 00:45:17.119
And um, training people to not go to the pastor, although it's good and it's healthy to have um authority over you, but to say, wait, I I can actually do this.
00:45:17.280 --> 00:45:29.760
And how I always describe discipleship to people is discipleship is basically being one step ahead of someone and encouraging them, exhorting them, and correcting them when necessary in life.
00:45:29.920 --> 00:45:32.159
It does not mean you have to be a Bible teacher.
00:45:32.239 --> 00:45:34.480
It does not mean that you have to know everything.
00:45:34.639 --> 00:45:39.039
It just means that you know a little bit more and you can help the last person.
00:45:39.199 --> 00:45:55.440
And what I see, this is my vision for the church that I hope we see in our day and age, is you'll see this beautiful train then of discipleship that I'm discipling X, X is discipling Y, Y is discipling Z, Z is discipling A, so on and so forth.
00:45:55.599 --> 00:45:59.360
And so we're all learning top down in this chain.
00:45:59.599 --> 00:46:03.920
So rather than A coming to W, A just goes to Z.
00:46:04.239 --> 00:46:08.800
And then there's no more superstar Christianity of oh, the holy man of God.
00:46:08.880 --> 00:46:11.360
It's no, we all have the Holy Spirit.
00:46:11.440 --> 00:46:13.920
We all have the same Holy Spirit, no one gets a junior holy spirit.
00:46:14.000 --> 00:46:15.440
We are all anointed.
00:46:15.920 --> 00:46:16.320
Yes.
00:46:16.559 --> 00:46:20.159
Do some are some people needing to just be discipled and not disciple anyone?
00:46:20.320 --> 00:46:20.559
Yes.
00:46:20.639 --> 00:46:24.559
There's some you you need a time of just becoming solid with the Lord for sure.
00:46:24.639 --> 00:46:26.000
Don't just go out discipling.
00:46:26.159 --> 00:46:47.840
But I would encourage everyone listening, ask the Lord, is there anyone that God is highlighting in my life, whether they know the Lord or they don't, that they need someone to just come alongside of them and say, hey, let's get coffee once a week or or once every couple weeks or once a month, where you encourage, where you dig into their life, where you ask them intentional questions.
00:46:48.000 --> 00:46:49.519
Hey, how are you doing with lust?
00:46:49.760 --> 00:46:51.199
Hey, how are you doing with prayer?
00:46:51.360 --> 00:46:52.880
Hey, how are you doing with reading the word?
00:46:53.119 --> 00:46:54.639
And you keep them accountable.
00:46:54.880 --> 00:46:57.679
Because, man, if we were all accountable, we would be on fire.
00:46:57.760 --> 00:47:01.119
But unfortunately, so many of us, no one's checking in on us.
00:47:01.280 --> 00:47:03.920
And so we're just slowly dying.
00:47:04.159 --> 00:47:07.679
And I'll tell you, listening to a sermon on Sunday is not being discipled.
00:47:07.840 --> 00:47:09.280
You're being taught, and that's really good.
00:47:09.360 --> 00:47:10.400
And teaching is awesome.
00:47:10.559 --> 00:47:14.239
I love teaching, but being taught and being discipled are two different things.
00:47:14.400 --> 00:47:29.679
Discipleship, in my opinion, is something that happens one-on-one, or you know, a very small group where you get into every intimate part of your life and you allow someone to speak into that and teach you how to grow into the image of Christ.
00:47:29.920 --> 00:47:32.320
So I hope that helps everyone listening.
00:47:32.639 --> 00:47:33.119
For sure.
00:47:33.360 --> 00:47:36.480
Taylor, I just really want you to pray for our listeners now.
00:47:36.719 --> 00:47:43.760
Um, you've you've shared a lot of this stuff, you've really been exhorting us, and I'm challenged by what you're saying in a really good way.
00:47:43.840 --> 00:47:44.880
It's motivating me.
00:47:45.039 --> 00:47:47.440
And I just I know that's our listeners would say the same.
00:47:47.599 --> 00:47:51.920
I'd love for you to just pray for our all of us right now, yeah as we hear you.
00:47:52.320 --> 00:47:52.719
Absolutely.
00:47:52.880 --> 00:47:54.239
I'd love to do that.
00:47:57.440 --> 00:47:58.239
Yes, Lord.
00:47:58.320 --> 00:47:59.679
Thank you, Jesus.
00:48:00.639 --> 00:48:09.440
Thank you, Lord, so much for Jay and the opportunity that he gave me to come today and just speak just about what you've done, Lord.
00:48:09.519 --> 00:48:10.639
All glory to you, God.
00:48:10.719 --> 00:48:16.559
It's it's the beauty of the message today, Lord, is that it no one has a superpower, Lord.
00:48:16.639 --> 00:48:18.719
The superpower is your spirit.
00:48:19.920 --> 00:48:31.599
And Jesus, Lord, you said, Go out and make disciples, baptizing them and teaching them to observe everything that I have commanded.
00:48:31.679 --> 00:48:34.719
Lord, this is the command that you left with us.
00:48:34.880 --> 00:48:41.920
And even going all the way back to the Old Testament, the law is summed up in this love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength.
00:48:42.000 --> 00:48:43.679
Love your neighbor as yourself.
00:48:44.639 --> 00:48:53.679
Jesus, I feel strongly that you are saying conferences are great, church is great, even on the street, evangelism is great.
00:48:53.760 --> 00:49:06.320
But if no one checks up on those people, those things can make us feel really good, but sometimes be at a disadvantage for those who are attending or being encountered.
00:49:06.480 --> 00:49:22.960
And I pray, Holy Spirit, right now, that you would fill every person listening, including me and Jay, Lord, with more of this, fill them with a fire to go out and make disciples, baptizing them and teaching them to obey everything that you've commanded, Lord.
00:49:23.039 --> 00:49:32.239
You said um through the writer of Hebrews, as long as it is called today, encourage the brethren that they may not fall into the deceitfulness of sin.
00:49:32.639 --> 00:49:33.840
Wow, Lord.
00:49:34.159 --> 00:49:38.559
All it takes sometimes is just us encouraging each other to keep us from sin.
00:49:38.880 --> 00:49:44.000
I pray God that a discipleship um movement would begin.
00:49:44.239 --> 00:50:01.679
Lord, a discipleship revival would start, Lord, not one that starts in in a uh a huge amphitheater, but one that starts at a coffee shop table, one that starts at a you know dining room table, or just talking to a neighbor, to a friend, to a family member and saying, Hey, do you need help?
00:50:01.840 --> 00:50:03.440
Do you need to be discipled?
00:50:03.599 --> 00:50:09.440
Do you need someone to keep you accountable with this sin issue or with your personal spiritual life?
00:50:09.760 --> 00:50:22.400
God, fill us with the ability to go out, preach the gospel, make disciples, and as you did, Jesus, move with compassion for those around us who just need us.
00:50:22.559 --> 00:50:24.159
Lord, all you're asking for is our time.
00:50:24.239 --> 00:50:26.159
We don't even need to know all the answers.
00:50:26.400 --> 00:50:30.719
People just need the love of God manifested by us just showing up.
00:50:31.440 --> 00:50:40.400
So I just pray, Jesus, you would help us to have a missional heart, God, for your people and for the lost collectively.
00:50:41.119 --> 00:50:42.719
In Jesus' name.
00:50:43.920 --> 00:50:50.639
And as you're listening to this podcast now, um, there's a lot we heard in this time.
00:50:50.800 --> 00:51:00.559
There's things that probably convicted your own soul that the Holy Spirit wants to work on as you're reflecting, as you're meditating on what was shared.
00:51:02.480 --> 00:51:11.599
And there's also probably people that as you hear all this, you're realizing, you know what, I actually do need to reach out to this person.
00:51:11.840 --> 00:51:15.599
I might have just thought they were okay, but I'm not really sure where they're really at.
00:51:15.760 --> 00:51:28.079
I feel like some of you, as you're hearing this, it's like you're recognizing, okay, in a fresh way, that there to be a disciple of Jesus is a radical thing.
00:51:28.719 --> 00:51:30.000
It's a radical thing.
00:51:30.079 --> 00:51:31.440
It's to be all in.
00:51:35.199 --> 00:51:38.719
So, Lord, would you come and minister to us personally?
00:51:39.039 --> 00:51:46.719
And as we think about how to help others truly be your disciples, we just wait on you, Holy Spirit, right now.
00:52:49.519 --> 00:52:51.599
Thank you, Lord, for your presence.
00:52:52.480 --> 00:52:58.000
We thank you for your kindness that leads us to repentance.
00:52:58.320 --> 00:53:04.239
We thank you for your truth, which cuts through lies and brings us to freedom.
00:53:04.639 --> 00:53:12.079
Lord, who help all of us to know the truth and continually meditate on the truth that sets us free.
00:53:12.400 --> 00:53:15.440
We say yes to your great commission, Lord.
00:53:16.239 --> 00:53:21.760
We say yes to being your disciples and taking up our cross and following you.
00:53:22.239 --> 00:53:25.039
All for your glory in Jesus' mighty name.
00:53:25.360 --> 00:53:26.000
Amen.
00:53:26.800 --> 00:53:27.440
Amen.
00:53:28.000 --> 00:53:28.639
Amen.
00:53:29.840 --> 00:53:33.199
Well, Taylor, it's been awesome having you on the podcast.
00:53:33.280 --> 00:53:35.760
Uh, I think I'm gonna have to listen to this one a couple of times.
00:53:36.000 --> 00:53:36.639
So good.
00:53:37.119 --> 00:53:38.000
Oh, praise God.
00:53:38.159 --> 00:53:39.199
Thank you, Jay, for having me.
00:53:39.280 --> 00:53:41.280
So much fun, and thank you guys, everyone who listened.
00:53:41.360 --> 00:53:42.320
Um, appreciate it.
00:53:42.400 --> 00:53:43.760
Yeah, love you all.

Welcome back, everybody, the Mission to Mobilize Podcast.
00:00:11.119 --> 00:00:17.359
This is Jay, your host here, and today I have a special guest here from Calisbell, Montana.
00:00:17.600 --> 00:00:18.239
Crazy story.
00:00:18.320 --> 00:00:23.920
We story we met in a coffee shop about six months ago, Taylor Werfelman.
00:00:24.160 --> 00:00:30.160
Taylor is in media marketing and he also is a pastor of a Young Devote Ministry.
00:00:30.399 --> 00:00:32.719
Taylor, welcome to the podcast today.
00:00:33.039 --> 00:00:34.000
Thank you for having me.
00:00:34.079 --> 00:00:34.960
I'm happy to be here.
00:00:35.119 --> 00:00:36.399
Really excited.
00:00:36.880 --> 00:00:39.600
Taylor, you didn't grow up here in Montana.
00:00:39.679 --> 00:00:44.320
I'd like to hear just a little bit of your journey of how you got here.
00:00:44.880 --> 00:00:45.280
Sure.
00:00:45.439 --> 00:00:46.000
Yeah.
00:00:46.320 --> 00:00:48.399
Um, man, that's that's a great question.
00:00:48.479 --> 00:00:53.679
I'll try to keep it brief, um, but also give a couple clear points along the way.
00:00:53.920 --> 00:00:56.479
So, a little bit about me.
00:00:56.640 --> 00:01:02.159
I grew up in the church all my life, um, non-denominational Protestant church.
00:01:02.399 --> 00:01:11.439
Um parents came out of the Lutheran church, but yeah, I knew non-denominational megachurch growing up and uh kind of lived my whole life under that.
00:01:11.519 --> 00:01:15.920
Um, loved Jesus in my own way, um, if that makes sense.
00:01:16.079 --> 00:01:24.480
But around the age of uh, well, around the age of 18 to 20, I started to have my eyes open that I was not living for the Lord.
00:01:24.560 --> 00:01:30.480
I was going to church, raising my hands, doing all the Christian things, but not actually bearing the fruit of God.
00:01:30.640 --> 00:01:32.000
I was living in sin.
00:01:32.319 --> 00:01:39.920
Um, even if they were justifiable sins or like the Christian acceptable sins, they were still sins that were in rebellion towards God.
00:01:40.400 --> 00:01:51.040
And man, the Lord just came in in his grace and started to reveal that um to me and in such a beautiful way to my family at the same time.
00:01:51.120 --> 00:02:03.680
It was actually very unique that it happened to all of us around the same time and started to just open our hearts up to the truth of the gospel that you know there is so much more to be experienced in God.
00:02:03.840 --> 00:02:08.800
And then there's also so much more that He's calling us to that we didn't we were not aware of.
00:02:08.879 --> 00:02:23.759
And so I'm sure we'll get into the story more, but to keep this first answer brief, um we decided at a certain point, hey, we have to stop living lukewarm, we have to turn away from the world and choose Jesus fully.
00:02:23.919 --> 00:02:27.599
Um, like truly give him our lives, give him our yes, surrender.
00:02:27.680 --> 00:02:28.400
It's your plan.
00:02:28.560 --> 00:02:29.599
We're dead, Lord.
00:02:29.759 --> 00:02:46.000
And we'll talk more about this, but that turned into um that one yes just multiplied into many yeses, ministry opportunities, helping other people to make that same yes, helping other people to be free from sin, all sorts of things.
00:02:46.159 --> 00:02:53.919
Um, but the way that I ended up in Callus Bell was as we did that, the Lord began to speak prophetically to mainly to my sister.
00:02:54.159 --> 00:02:56.080
Um, and that was new to me.
00:02:56.240 --> 00:03:00.479
We had never, we didn't grow up knowing about the gifts um in that way.
00:03:01.120 --> 00:03:04.400
And uh my sister started to hear things and they would come to pass.
00:03:04.479 --> 00:03:08.159
And so God started to show us, hey, you can trust that I actually speak today.
00:03:08.400 --> 00:03:13.919
Well, that kind of culminated to Emma, my sister, receiving that we were to move to Caliswell, Montana.
00:03:14.000 --> 00:03:17.759
We had never been to Caliswell, Montana, didn't even know what that was.
00:03:17.840 --> 00:03:24.960
Um, but she heard it clearly and had it tested by some friends, and it was very clear that this was where the Holy Spirit was calling us.
00:03:25.120 --> 00:03:27.360
And so we packed up our lives.
00:03:27.520 --> 00:03:29.280
My dad left his job of 35 years.
00:03:29.360 --> 00:03:31.759
I left my dream of being a film director.
00:03:31.919 --> 00:03:49.039
I lived in LA um before this, so I was on the way to fulfilling my dream, um, working with already big names and things, but walked away from that and moved up to Little Calisbell and started trying to find out why God had called us here.
00:03:49.120 --> 00:03:52.639
Um, so I guess I'll leave it there, and yeah, I'm sure there's other questions from that.
00:03:52.719 --> 00:03:56.479
But yeah, well, I want you to, that's an amazing story.
00:03:56.639 --> 00:04:08.960
And um, I know sometimes local people here aren't always a fan of all these people moving in from the West Coast, but I want to just say to all the local people, uh, we got some gems in the Werfelmans here.
00:04:09.199 --> 00:04:11.199
I'm so glad you guys chose to move here.
00:04:11.360 --> 00:04:14.639
You will make the flashball and already have made it a better place.
00:04:15.039 --> 00:04:15.840
Um praise God.
00:04:16.160 --> 00:04:20.000
Yeah, but I want I want you to unpack a little bit what that was like.
00:04:20.160 --> 00:04:26.639
You guys, you guys come here from California, you've had by the world standard successful lives over there.
00:04:26.800 --> 00:04:34.480
Um and you arrive here and you know, did things just take off right away, or was it a bit of a process?
00:04:34.879 --> 00:04:35.759
Talk about that.
00:04:36.079 --> 00:04:37.600
That's real, that's a really good question.
00:04:37.759 --> 00:04:39.600
No, things did not take off.
00:04:39.759 --> 00:04:56.240
Um, so when the Lord began to speak to us to move, you know, what what always happens, especially when you're you know younger in the faith and you haven't taken a huge step of faith, like moving to another state, is you start to figure out how it's all gonna play out.
00:04:56.480 --> 00:05:01.040
So we thought, okay, we're gonna sell our house and we'll buy a house sight unseen.
00:05:01.279 --> 00:05:04.560
And you know, by the time all that happens, we'll move to Montana, we'll have a house.
00:05:04.639 --> 00:05:11.040
And it'll just and we'll just keep doing ministry the way that we've always done it, because we did ministry out of our house and helped disciple people.
00:05:11.360 --> 00:05:13.680
Um, well, that was not how things went.
00:05:13.759 --> 00:05:18.480
Uh, we never found a house before we left, and our house 90-day escrow, done.
00:05:18.720 --> 00:05:19.680
We had to leave.
00:05:19.920 --> 00:05:22.319
So we all packed up in our vehicles.
00:05:22.560 --> 00:05:26.319
Luckily, we had God had led us through another whole crazy story.
00:05:26.399 --> 00:05:28.399
Uh, but to buy this passenger van.
00:05:28.480 --> 00:05:34.160
We just thought we bought it as like something to go on vacation as a family because uh we were always into camping.
00:05:34.319 --> 00:05:44.959
Um, but God had made it very clear to buy this, even miraculously, we got it for sixty thousand dollars cheaper um than asking price off of the new lot, which was insane.
00:05:45.120 --> 00:05:46.480
So the Lord totally opened the door.
00:05:46.560 --> 00:05:51.600
Well, we had no idea it was because we were about to live in that van for the next three months without a house.
00:05:51.839 --> 00:05:58.240
Um, so for grown adults, because me, my sister, my parents, we lived in this van in Montana.
00:05:58.399 --> 00:06:02.399
And see, I can make it sound luxurious and wow, we had so much faith.
00:06:02.560 --> 00:06:04.319
But in that moment, we were questioning everything.
00:06:04.480 --> 00:06:05.199
Are we crazy?
00:06:05.360 --> 00:06:07.439
We just moved, we left everything.
00:06:07.600 --> 00:06:09.279
Like, are we hearing from God?
00:06:09.360 --> 00:06:16.160
Now we're in this little van living on random people's properties and in campsites, and it did not take off.
00:06:16.319 --> 00:06:21.439
And and a lot of people we tried to connect with, it just didn't seem like anything was materializing.
00:06:21.680 --> 00:06:24.959
But I think it was the moment where God was saying, Do you trust me?
00:06:25.040 --> 00:06:26.879
It's not about your plan anymore.
00:06:27.040 --> 00:06:37.279
Like, we had a ministry in California where, and all glory to God for this, but literally at the end of it, we were having people over at our house every single night, seven days a week.
00:06:37.519 --> 00:06:42.639
And my dad was working full time, and then we'd have people over at night, and it was like, wow, so fruitful.
00:06:42.720 --> 00:06:47.920
And I think a lot of us are tempted to say, This is the Christian life.
00:06:48.000 --> 00:06:48.560
This is amazing.
00:06:48.639 --> 00:06:51.600
We have the good job, we have the nice house, we have people that we're helping.
00:06:51.759 --> 00:06:53.439
And God's like, leave all of that.
00:06:53.519 --> 00:06:55.519
And so getting here, it's like, there's no fruit.
00:06:55.600 --> 00:06:58.160
Why did we leave all this amazing fruit behind?
00:06:58.399 --> 00:07:01.199
But it was God saying, Will you trust me?
00:07:01.360 --> 00:07:05.920
And it took a couple years of processing that, and we did find a house and la-di-da.
00:07:06.480 --> 00:07:11.120
But once we decided, okay, God, we trust you, we we just want to follow you.
00:07:11.600 --> 00:07:15.839
Doors started opening, and now obviously there's a lot more ministry opportunity.
00:07:15.920 --> 00:07:17.759
But at the time, we're like, Why are we here?
00:07:17.920 --> 00:07:19.360
I don't know why we're here.
00:07:19.519 --> 00:07:24.000
Um, so I don't know if that answers your question, but that was it, definitely did not just go smoothly.
00:07:24.079 --> 00:07:25.199
It was hard.
00:07:25.680 --> 00:07:26.000
Yeah.
00:07:26.079 --> 00:07:35.279
Well, I I wonder as you're sharing that, what comes to my mind is I believe there's some listeners listening to this that are in that place where they've had these doubts.
00:07:35.439 --> 00:07:42.720
They've had these doubts because they've taken a some type of radical step with the Lord, whether it's a move or something else.
00:07:42.959 --> 00:07:44.879
What advice would you give them?
00:07:45.120 --> 00:07:56.000
Because I and I think that's what I was trying to unpack there, when you're in that place where you obeyed, and we're gonna hear the rest of the story in this podcast, but the the rest of the story hasn't come yet.
00:07:56.240 --> 00:08:02.319
You know, the Abraham leave your place and go, and then there's famine in the land type of thing, you know.
00:08:02.399 --> 00:08:04.800
And there's yes, it's not the rest of the story.
00:08:04.959 --> 00:08:09.600
What would you say to our listeners who feel like I've obeyed, but I haven't yet seen the fruit?
00:08:09.839 --> 00:08:13.120
Wow, yeah, that's such a good, deep question.
00:08:13.360 --> 00:08:16.560
Um I have so many thoughts on this.
00:08:16.720 --> 00:08:21.279
This has actually been like kind of my last three years work of just studying this.
00:08:21.519 --> 00:08:26.639
Um I think number one, studying the scripture.
00:08:26.800 --> 00:08:33.840
Because in my life right now, I've had things that God has spoken that have come to pass, and I have other things that God's spoken years ago that have not come to pass.
00:08:33.919 --> 00:08:35.759
I'm still waiting on those things.
00:08:36.080 --> 00:08:58.720
00:08:58.799 --> 00:09:00.559
Like leaving on faith, doing all this.
00:09:00.639 --> 00:09:02.559
But in the Bible, this is the norm.
00:09:02.720 --> 00:09:03.600
This is what we see.
00:09:03.759 --> 00:09:08.240
David, he is he is anointed as king, and then he gets chased for over 10 years.
00:09:08.399 --> 00:09:11.440
And and he's probably in the cave thinking, I'm never gonna be king, right?
00:09:11.519 --> 00:09:12.879
Like he had to have doubts.
00:09:13.200 --> 00:09:14.799
Um, Joseph, right?
00:09:14.879 --> 00:09:17.360
He's in he's in prison, they think, for 13 years.
00:09:17.519 --> 00:09:19.519
And there's this great psalm.
00:09:19.679 --> 00:09:22.879
It's um oh man, I gotta find it real quick.
00:09:23.039 --> 00:09:24.960
I think it's Psalm 105.
00:09:25.759 --> 00:09:31.600
Um but this psalm completely changed my outlook on everything.
00:09:31.840 --> 00:09:37.840
Uh Psalm 105, uh verse 19, it's talking about Joseph.
00:09:37.919 --> 00:09:44.559
It says, Until the time that his word came to pass, meaning God's word, the word of the Lord tested him.
00:09:44.879 --> 00:09:52.320
And so God will always call you to something and say, Oh, there's there's there's this there's beauty that's going to take place here.
00:09:52.480 --> 00:09:56.799
And then you step out of the boat, and all of a sudden you're like, I'm not seeing it, Lord.
00:09:56.879 --> 00:10:00.000
Like Abraham, you're gonna have a son, okay, 25 years, what's going on?
00:10:00.159 --> 00:10:07.120
But it's in that time that God actually tests your character to make you be able to hold and handle what he's giving you.
00:10:07.360 --> 00:10:12.720
He grew in David that godly character, so that when he became king, he became the best king.
00:10:13.039 --> 00:10:22.399
And so studying that helped me to actually see that what I was experiencing was not anti-biblical, it was actually extremely biblical because we had family members, friends.
00:10:22.559 --> 00:10:24.559
Oh, you guys are crazy for believing this stuff.
00:10:24.639 --> 00:10:29.279
And then I'm looking at scripture and I'm like, are we the crazy ones or or are they?
00:10:29.360 --> 00:10:35.200
Because I see it all over scripture, people going on faith, walking out of in things.
00:10:35.279 --> 00:10:39.679
I mean, Hebrews 11 says they believed in things that they never saw come to pass.
00:10:39.919 --> 00:10:56.480
Um, so I think being rooted in the scripture, obviously, secret place, prayer, all those things, yes, but the scripture helped to bear witness that my experience was not, I was not alone in it, that this was very natural, um, that there is a waiting period, there's a testing period.
00:10:56.559 --> 00:11:01.360
Uh, I'll say one last thing because it's something that the Holy Spirit spoke to me a lot in that time.
00:11:01.519 --> 00:11:07.120
Um, God does not value the destination over the journey, he values them the same.
00:11:07.279 --> 00:11:12.320
So he will use the journey every step to get you to the destination.
00:11:12.399 --> 00:11:14.559
It's not just about going from point A to point B.
00:11:14.720 --> 00:11:16.000
He loves the middle.
00:11:16.159 --> 00:11:19.600
It's like you go from glory to glory.
00:11:19.840 --> 00:11:30.240
There's that middle of testing and trials and growing your faith so that in the future you can step out in even greater things, and you're like, I know that the Lord will will come, will come through.
00:11:30.399 --> 00:11:31.759
So yeah.
00:11:32.639 --> 00:11:41.360
One of the things that's interesting about uh your situation, your life, Taylor, is your family, you you guys minister together as a family.
00:11:41.519 --> 00:11:50.799
And before we unpack that a little more, um, could you speak of in the midst of this crazy faith journey of moving to Calisbell and going through all of this?
00:11:50.879 --> 00:11:53.279
You're you're you're in this van together.
00:11:53.440 --> 00:12:00.960
Um literally, how did journeying together as a family um strengthen your relationship?
00:12:02.559 --> 00:12:03.840
That's a great question.
00:12:04.080 --> 00:12:09.360
It man, when you're that close with people, uh I had a rooftop tent.
00:12:09.440 --> 00:12:17.120
So just to make it clear, I slept in the rooftop tent, but our means of transformation, the where we hung out, our kitchen, everything was in this fan, this 18-foot fan.
00:12:17.279 --> 00:12:28.799
So um, but man, it it grew us, and not only did it grow us, it exposed a lot that was there that could not be hidden because we were together.
00:12:28.960 --> 00:12:40.799
And I'm not just talking about um intentional sin, but things just like irritation and offense and um you know our doubts and our desires, right?
00:12:40.879 --> 00:12:43.279
We have one vehicle, we can only do one thing.
00:12:43.440 --> 00:12:45.279
We had we had to stay together.
00:12:45.519 --> 00:12:48.159
Um, so it really strengthened us.
00:12:48.240 --> 00:12:57.759
I mean, we look back on that time and we are so thankful for it because we grew so close together because it was not my dad's faith that got us here.
00:12:57.840 --> 00:13:01.200
It wasn't my faith, it wasn't my sister's, it wasn't my mom's, it was all of ours.
00:13:01.360 --> 00:13:07.120
Every time one of us had a low moment, we had to be there to step in to say, wait, guys, let's believe what the Lord said.
00:13:07.200 --> 00:13:08.559
Let's look back on these words.
00:13:08.720 --> 00:13:11.360
Remember, he spoke this, la-da.
00:13:11.919 --> 00:13:16.720
And um, it yeah, it absolutely grew us, and that's that pressing.
00:13:16.799 --> 00:13:19.120
God, God's like pressing in on us.
00:13:19.360 --> 00:13:35.120
Um, and when you go through real life circumstance with those you love, it allows you to go a lot deeper in in your relationships, and I think that's really benefited us in ministering as well.
00:13:35.519 --> 00:13:36.159
Yeah.
00:13:36.559 --> 00:13:37.200
Sure.
00:13:37.519 --> 00:13:57.360
So talk about your media marketing job, how you got that, a little bit about how um what God's done through that, both from this from the standpoint of provision, but also just from the standpoint of um kind of the platform that gives you with other people in its question.
00:13:57.600 --> 00:14:01.840
Yeah, well, it's actually a really I'll say the coolest story about my my job.
00:14:02.000 --> 00:14:16.480
I've only had it for three or four years, but when I moved here, I didn't have a job and I felt I didn't feel the Lord was telling me to just like walk away from these skills that I had grown in for 10 years of of filmmaking.
00:14:16.559 --> 00:14:19.279
And so I was a little bit in a rock and a hard place.
00:14:19.360 --> 00:14:24.399
I the joke is you don't go to Montana to be a filmmaker, um, especially not from LA.
00:14:24.480 --> 00:14:32.159
And so I heard the Lord whisper to me, um, seek first the kingdom and all these things will be added, you know.
00:14:32.240 --> 00:14:36.879
And he's talking about that in the context of worrying and worrying about you know how you're gonna eat.
00:14:37.360 --> 00:14:43.039
And and I saw my debt, which is not good, I admit that this is not this was sin at the time.
00:14:43.200 --> 00:14:48.320
Um, but my debt was rising, like credit card, and I had things I had to pay, and I don't have a job and I don't know what to do.
00:14:48.399 --> 00:14:49.279
We're in a new place.
00:14:49.360 --> 00:14:52.639
And the Lord just said, seek first the kingdom and all these things.
00:14:52.799 --> 00:14:53.120
Okay.
00:14:53.279 --> 00:14:58.080
So I really submitted myself to serving God, ministry, podcasting.
00:14:59.200 --> 00:15:05.919
And at the time, I was also just making silly little adventure videos in Montana of me just going camping.
00:15:06.159 --> 00:15:09.279
And at the very end of the video, I would put all glory to Jesus.
00:15:09.440 --> 00:15:11.440
Very simple, nothing too crazy.
00:15:11.759 --> 00:15:14.240
Had like 400 subscribers, nothing.
00:15:15.120 --> 00:15:17.440
This guy finds my YouTube channel.
00:15:17.600 --> 00:15:20.240
He loves that it says all glory to Jesus at the end.
00:15:20.320 --> 00:15:21.919
So he reaches out to me on Instagram.
00:15:22.080 --> 00:15:24.879
Hey, we have this client, we need this work done.
00:15:25.039 --> 00:15:27.840
Would you like to do a test run with us for X amount of dollars?
00:15:27.919 --> 00:15:29.120
I was like, sure.
00:15:29.840 --> 00:15:35.360
And from there, praise be to God, that video that I made saved the relationship with the client.
00:15:35.600 --> 00:15:38.639
And I have worked for that person ever since.
00:15:38.799 --> 00:15:39.840
We are great friends.
00:15:40.000 --> 00:15:49.200
He's a he's a Catholic brother, but um, when I first met him, I told him our whole story, everything, visions, demons, all the you know, craziness.
00:15:49.279 --> 00:15:50.720
And here it is.
00:15:50.960 --> 00:16:02.960
And um man, God has used that as a blessing, and God has also used that story to for me to use for younger people to say, Hey, listen, truly, if you seek God, seek the kingdom, he will provide.
00:16:03.039 --> 00:16:04.320
Like that job came.
00:16:04.639 --> 00:16:11.840
I mean, that there's no way anyone should find my YouTube, which had no subscribers, and I get hired for an awesome job that I've had for four years.
00:16:12.080 --> 00:16:15.360
And so um, that's been that's been amazing.
00:16:15.440 --> 00:16:20.480
So the way that I found it has been good, and the conversations that have come out of it have been really great as well.
00:16:20.559 --> 00:16:29.679
Actually, the guy who hired me, he started listening to my podcast and would like talk to me about it, have questions, and we've we get into it's mainly me and him all always together.
00:16:29.759 --> 00:16:46.080
So we've had some really great deep talks and just like challenging um conversations, and you know, I'll say this as the last thing because we work so closely together and we work with a lot of people we know, it's it's not like the best mission field.
00:16:46.159 --> 00:16:50.480
We get there, we we film, and then we leave, and it's like people that we know and that are Christian most of the time.
00:16:50.720 --> 00:17:11.200
But what has been cool is um the way that God has used this job in order to grow us closer to him and and also to make sure that we give glory to God in everything that we do.
00:17:12.400 --> 00:17:31.200
00:17:31.359 --> 00:17:34.160
And so it's been a really cool relationship.
00:17:34.240 --> 00:17:41.039
And I I think the best is yet to come with me and the guy that I work for, but um yeah, so many great opportunities to share with him.
00:17:41.119 --> 00:17:42.400
And oh, I know what I was gonna say.
00:17:42.480 --> 00:17:45.039
There's one other thing that I want to encourage all the listeners.
00:17:45.119 --> 00:17:54.000
You know, when you do something radical in your life, like shift and move from everything you know, there's no other story to hide behind.
00:17:54.640 --> 00:18:01.119
It's it makes sharing the gospel so much easier because when people ask you any question about your life, it's all funneled through the Lord.
00:18:01.200 --> 00:18:02.559
It's like, well, why are you in Calspot?
00:18:02.640 --> 00:18:03.440
Well, God told me to move here.
00:18:03.519 --> 00:18:04.240
Why do you have this job?
00:18:04.400 --> 00:18:05.279
Well, let me tell you this story.
00:18:05.359 --> 00:18:06.640
Well, why do you have this vehicle?
00:18:06.720 --> 00:18:08.240
Well, God gave me this dream.
00:18:08.480 --> 00:18:14.400
The more that you do life with the Lord and you live radically for Him, it just it just flows.
00:18:14.559 --> 00:18:19.119
It just flows out wherever you're at, you know, and it's it's awesome.
00:18:19.680 --> 00:18:22.319
Well, that's that's money right there, what you just said.
00:18:22.400 --> 00:18:24.240
That's powerful, powerful statement.
00:18:24.559 --> 00:18:35.680
Yeah, when we when we do things radically that God asks us to do, you know, that's testimony right there and opportunities to share about the God that we serve.
00:18:35.839 --> 00:18:36.240
I love that.
00:18:36.319 --> 00:18:37.119
I love that so much.
00:18:37.279 --> 00:18:42.400
Yes, yes, good, so good, such good motivation for for me as well, as I hear that.
00:18:42.720 --> 00:18:51.279
Um, one thing I've noticed as you've been sharing so far, and I've been reflecting on is I know that you pour into a lot of young adults.
00:18:51.359 --> 00:19:12.079
Um, and you've mentioned this already a little bit, but I I really feel like the experience that you had following God in this journey, and I'm sure also back in California as well, but especially in this transition, is has positioned you to be so effective at discipling people, um, just from your own journey.
00:19:12.240 --> 00:19:13.039
Am I correct?
00:19:15.119 --> 00:19:16.319
I hope so.
00:19:16.559 --> 00:19:31.759
I yes, I I I definitely believe um so, because something that I tell some of the young people, especially the young people that want to be leaders and stuff, is um you can't uh you can't buy history with God.
00:19:31.839 --> 00:19:34.960
Uh, it's only something that you get over time.
00:19:35.279 --> 00:19:46.799
Um, so you can know the scripture, you could read the Bible, speed read it, get it done, you know, and be on fire in your first year, but history with God has developed over time and testing and walking out in faith.
00:19:46.880 --> 00:19:50.720
I mean, the Bible is clear, like the only way to please God is through faith.
00:19:50.960 --> 00:20:15.920
So I really have been trying to encourage these kids that or these young adults, I should say, they're not all kids, but if the highest view of life that I have is white picket fence, house and wife, I'm limiting um my view to what society tells me is amazing and not what the Bible tells me is is God's will.
00:20:16.079 --> 00:20:17.519
And so that's the biggest problem.
00:20:17.599 --> 00:20:24.400
I think one of the bigger problems we have in America is our dreams and our ideas of success are based upon culture, right?
00:20:24.480 --> 00:20:40.559
Like I think having retirement is great, but just because the society tells us to have a retirement doesn't necessarily mean God is telling you to work your absolute butt off for 40 years just so you can enjoy a cruise when you're 65.
00:20:40.799 --> 00:20:42.559
I'm trying to get that into kids' mind.
00:20:42.640 --> 00:20:53.599
I'm not saying that retirement's not a good idea, but if we are thinking heavenly minded, we will be able to do far more for the kingdom and experience the glories of God.
00:20:53.680 --> 00:20:57.519
I never thought I would enjoy moving to Montana and completely changing my life.
00:20:57.680 --> 00:21:00.079
I have more joy than I've ever had.
00:21:00.319 --> 00:21:03.680
And I'm doing none of the things that I wanted to do.
00:21:04.079 --> 00:21:16.319
And so absolutely going through that has encouraged people because for anyone of you listening, whenever you do something radical, people will start to look at you like a unicorn, meaning they don't understand it.
00:21:16.480 --> 00:21:21.119
They're like, you don't fit in my mold because they have an idea of what a Christian looks like.
00:21:21.359 --> 00:21:27.440
And when you start to be a real radical follower of Christ, they're like, that that doesn't make sense.
00:21:27.519 --> 00:21:28.240
And that's good.
00:21:28.480 --> 00:21:40.400
People need people like that in order to reveal to them their comfortability or their maybe lack of faith, not in a condemning way, but to open their eyes to whoa, there's more.
00:21:40.640 --> 00:21:44.400
Um, and so that has been a huge part of the discipleship.
00:21:44.559 --> 00:21:50.319
Um, because if we want to see radical things, uh it requires radical change.
00:21:50.640 --> 00:21:52.880
Radical change requires radical change.
00:21:53.200 --> 00:21:59.200
Um, but you can't, you know, yeah, you you you have to you have to be all in.
00:21:59.279 --> 00:21:59.759
So yeah, that.
00:22:00.079 --> 00:22:16.799
If that answers your question, I do have more that I would like to talk about with discipleship, but that that journey absolutely um has helped to see to help to show the kids that there is so much more than just church on Sunday and adding God to your life.
00:22:18.000 --> 00:22:21.359
You guys are new to the valley, or you were a few years ago.
00:22:21.519 --> 00:22:26.079
Um, we say the valley because that's the language we use for the Flathead Valley here.
00:22:26.240 --> 00:22:35.119
Um talk about how you started to actually be able to disciple people when you when you don't have a lot of relational connection.
00:22:35.200 --> 00:22:37.039
How did God open those doors?
00:22:37.839 --> 00:22:39.359
That's a great question.
00:22:41.759 --> 00:22:58.079
Well, when we got here, uh there was a ministry that we had been loosely affiliated with, and they had a couple people here that uh were loosely affiliated with it as well, to keep that brief and broad, um, that we connected with.
00:22:58.160 --> 00:23:01.920
So we just said, hey, like we have a mutual interest in this ministry.
00:23:04.160 --> 00:23:08.720
And that led to some prayer meetings and and just meeting people.
00:23:08.799 --> 00:23:15.759
And I think what was important is when we were invited to those prayer meetings, we just showed up.
00:23:15.839 --> 00:23:20.480
And like, like I said, when you have a radical story, all glory to God, but you can't hide.
00:23:20.559 --> 00:23:22.079
It's like, oh, why are you here?
00:23:22.240 --> 00:23:26.480
It would just come out, and people would be like, wait, I've never heard of that before.
00:23:26.640 --> 00:23:27.519
Wait, that's crazy.
00:23:27.599 --> 00:23:28.720
Wait, hold on.
00:23:28.799 --> 00:23:39.599
And and we would also share about our ministry what we had seen with um healing the sick, casting out demons, seeing lives completely change, and people are like, Whoa, I've never, I've never seen this in church before.
00:23:39.839 --> 00:23:44.960
And so that would spark interest, and little fires would start, but it it still was bumpy.
00:23:45.039 --> 00:23:51.440
It's like, okay, there'd be a good moment, we'd have a great conversation, we'd have a great meeting, and then you never hear from that person again or whatever.
00:23:51.599 --> 00:23:56.480
But I think it was the culmination of just being obedient with every door that God opened.
00:23:56.559 --> 00:24:01.440
I mean, you know just as well as me, sometimes open doors can be very awkward.
00:24:01.599 --> 00:24:11.200
And we went through a lot of awkward situations with people, meeting new people, but it was just we're gonna be faithful, we're gonna share what we know, we're gonna share what we've experienced, we're gonna share the love of Christ.
00:24:11.440 --> 00:24:19.039
And eventually, uh, I was at a movie, funnily enough, a movie about casting out demons, would you would you imagine?
00:24:19.279 --> 00:24:23.279
And uh there were a couple kids there, and I and I'm like, okay, this is weird.
00:24:23.359 --> 00:24:31.759
And I look look behind me, and in the movie at the end, the guy on the screen was praying for people in the audience, and one of the girls starts getting delivered of a spirit of suicide.
00:24:31.839 --> 00:24:35.200
And I'm like, we're praying over her, and then I'm like, hey, who are you guys?
00:24:35.359 --> 00:24:38.799
And from there, so many doors opened up.
00:24:38.880 --> 00:24:41.039
It was a little scary, but I was like, hey, who are you?
00:24:41.200 --> 00:24:44.480
Work, I'm a kid, you're a kid, like, let's connect, you know.
00:24:44.559 --> 00:24:47.920
And and um, we started doing house church from from that meeting.
00:24:48.079 --> 00:24:51.359
One of the guys was like, I want to know how you guys worship.
00:24:51.519 --> 00:24:56.640
Um, and I told him my whole testimony of how God had set me free from pornography and all these things.
00:24:56.799 --> 00:25:04.960
And finally it was like the damn broke, and just there was so many people now that were hungry, and people started inviting people and word spread.
00:25:05.039 --> 00:25:11.039
And so I think just being faithful with every opportunity, you know, like you're not gonna get to preach to a hundred people day one.
00:25:11.119 --> 00:25:15.359
Sometimes you got to just meet everyone where they're at and just share the love of God.
00:25:15.920 --> 00:25:19.519
Yeah, it's it's like the the picture that comes to me as you're sharing that.
00:25:19.680 --> 00:25:28.400
It's like where you where you pile stuff on higher and higher and higher, and eventually the last little bit's enough to just break things open, right?
00:25:28.799 --> 00:25:30.319
And that's exactly how it feels.
00:25:30.480 --> 00:25:32.160
And that's what seems like it happened there.
00:25:32.240 --> 00:25:42.240
You know, you just kept being obedient, kept being obedient, even if it didn't turn out like you liked, and eventually it just bursts bursts free and and leads to your ministry.
00:25:42.559 --> 00:25:43.440
Well, it's cool too.
00:25:43.519 --> 00:25:45.519
I'll say one thing to that, if you don't mind.
00:25:45.680 --> 00:25:54.240
Um, one of the people that we ministered to super early on, some of them actually might even listen to this, but that's totally okay because this is an amazing story.
00:25:54.400 --> 00:25:55.680
Um, it was kind of like that.
00:25:55.759 --> 00:26:01.839
I remember we were at a prayer meeting, and my sister got this word for this family, and the word was God's gonna redeem your whole family.
00:26:01.920 --> 00:26:03.759
And a lot of them were lost.
00:26:04.079 --> 00:26:05.359
And we don't even know them.
00:26:05.519 --> 00:26:12.319
And okay, cool, you know, pray over them and would see them once in a while, and nothing seemed to really flow.
00:26:13.039 --> 00:26:21.279
And then little by little, slowly, God started bringing every single person in their family, not not by us, by just the glory of God, back to himself.
00:26:21.839 --> 00:26:36.559
And now those people who we met day one, who we are just faithful to share what we knew, pray for them, help them in whatever way we could, are some of the most solid people that are we're actually doing ministry hand in hand with now, which I never saw coming.
00:26:36.720 --> 00:26:39.920
Um, I mean, literally just saw both of them today.
00:26:40.160 --> 00:26:44.079
So um it just shows like never underestimate obedience.
00:26:44.160 --> 00:26:46.160
I've had people that we preach to.
00:26:46.480 --> 00:26:53.119
Five years later, they message you, hey, I know I didn't receive it at that time, but like I'm open now.
00:26:53.279 --> 00:26:54.240
I actually do want it.
00:26:54.319 --> 00:26:59.440
Like I'm thankful for what you guys told me, even though in the moment it was hard, I was offended, whatever.
00:26:59.680 --> 00:27:04.000
Never give up on people because every open door is open for a reason.
00:27:04.400 --> 00:27:05.599
So good, Taylor.
00:27:05.759 --> 00:27:06.400
So good.
00:27:06.880 --> 00:27:14.160
Um, I want to get more into your heart for disciple making, um, what you think is really key in that.
00:27:14.319 --> 00:27:23.200
I know one of the things when in one of the first conversations that I had with you, you you talked about how you were discipling quote unquote Christians.
00:27:23.359 --> 00:27:32.880
And it's you know, people that are that are churched, that have a church background, but that haven't haven't really taken that step forward to be a full-on disciple.
00:27:33.039 --> 00:27:45.839
So if you could unpack a little bit of how you help people see what it really means to be a disciple, and then just some of your um just history with that, thoughts on that, just take that wherever you want to.
00:27:46.240 --> 00:27:46.720
Awesome.
00:27:46.799 --> 00:27:48.079
Yeah, I love that question.
00:27:48.319 --> 00:27:53.440
Um yeah, so let me take this back a little bit to kind of where I started.
00:27:53.599 --> 00:27:58.400
Um, when we kind of got on this journey eight years ago of really saying we're gonna follow God.
00:27:59.039 --> 00:28:02.400
This can be controversial, but I I know that it to be true.
00:28:02.559 --> 00:28:05.039
I, if anyone asked me, like, oh, how long have you known the Lord?
00:28:05.119 --> 00:28:05.839
I would say eight years.
00:28:05.920 --> 00:28:13.920
Now I've grown up, I grew up in church, I did all the things, um, but according to scripture, I did not know him um until eight years ago.
00:28:14.240 --> 00:28:18.480
And so when that happened, my eyes were open to sin.
00:28:18.720 --> 00:28:20.720
The fear of the Lord filled me.
00:28:21.039 --> 00:28:33.039
And I also saw um how one not only was I being disobedient to the word, but I myself, besides from you know, just growing up, had not been discipled.
00:28:33.279 --> 00:28:36.240
And because you kind of look at your own progression, like, wait, how did I get here?
00:28:36.400 --> 00:28:48.079
Obviously, it's my fault, but also there was no program for me to be discipled to keep myself away from falling into porn, cursing, demonic music, um, bad friends, all the things, you know.
00:28:48.880 --> 00:28:52.400
Um so I think that was where my first heart was.
00:28:52.559 --> 00:28:56.160
And kind of when God showed us this, it was twofold.
00:28:56.240 --> 00:28:59.759
It was you're lukewarm, you're living in sin, you're not living for me.
00:28:59.920 --> 00:29:02.799
You you confess me with your mouth, but your heart is far from me.
00:29:03.039 --> 00:29:07.759
And then two, you have disobeyed the great commission, which says to go and make disciples.
00:29:07.839 --> 00:29:14.319
And my especially for my parents, like we we're 50, we've never made a disciple besides our kids, you know, huge conviction there.
00:29:15.200 --> 00:29:23.680
And a lot changed, but when we got here, we had already been doing discipleship ministry, but the Lord started opening, no, I'm gonna be 28 here in a couple weeks.
00:29:23.759 --> 00:29:38.400
So the Lord kind of brought me into overseen by my parents, but doing my own ministry with my sister of discipling young people and what my heart is there's there's a lot here.
00:29:38.720 --> 00:29:43.599
Um, people my age need to know truth.
00:29:43.680 --> 00:29:45.200
So here's here's what we've done.
00:29:45.599 --> 00:29:52.640
Not we just I think generally what I see it at least in American churches, but there's two ways of giving the gospel.
00:29:52.960 --> 00:29:55.759
There's a palatable way, and then there's a watered-down way.
00:29:55.839 --> 00:29:56.640
They're not the same.
00:29:56.880 --> 00:30:05.519
It's not bad to make the gospel palatable to where someone's at, but it is bad to remove parts in order for them to receive it easier.
00:30:06.799 --> 00:30:10.640
So my sister got this prophetic word uh over five years ago.
00:30:10.720 --> 00:30:19.200
She said it said, um from the Lord, he he spoke don't compromise the truth thinking that you're helping people.
00:30:19.680 --> 00:30:26.400
And I told some people even today, if the truth sets you free, then if I give a half truth, it only sets someone half free.
00:30:26.799 --> 00:30:28.480
And half freedom is not freedom.
00:30:28.720 --> 00:30:30.079
That's the joke, right?
00:30:30.319 --> 00:30:39.920
So what I realize is people don't know the truth, they don't know the scripture, they don't read the Bible, or if they do, they read it through the lens of, yeah, yeah, but I'm fine.
00:30:40.079 --> 00:30:40.720
It's okay.
00:30:40.880 --> 00:30:47.279
I can live my way, I can live in sin, I can live apart from God, and I I'm still gonna be with him for eternity.
00:30:47.440 --> 00:30:56.799
And I see in scripture strongly the opposite that actually a true encounter with God will lead to holiness flowing out of your life, that every good tree bears good fruit.
00:30:57.039 --> 00:30:59.759
Any any tree that bears bad fruit is a bad tree.
00:30:59.920 --> 00:31:01.440
Just read it in 1 John last night.
00:31:01.599 --> 00:31:04.160
Anyone who continues in sin is of the devil.
00:31:04.480 --> 00:31:10.319
And um, not in a condemning way, but I felt the power of the glory of God say, like the fear of God, I should say.
00:31:10.480 --> 00:31:13.279
We need to help these young people to know the truth.
00:31:13.839 --> 00:31:18.480
And along with that, I'm sorry, this is going to be a bit of a longer answer, but I I feel this is very important.
00:31:18.720 --> 00:31:33.599
Along with that, God showed us in ministry that the reason so many people are struggling, for one is because they haven't surrendered, sure, but they're also lacking the tools in which they need to overcome sin.
00:31:33.839 --> 00:31:35.519
So Hebrews 6 makes it very clear.
00:31:35.599 --> 00:31:37.200
Here are the elementary teachings of the faith.
00:31:37.279 --> 00:31:40.960
Now, elementary school, you can't go further unless you went to elementary school.
00:31:41.039 --> 00:31:42.720
It's l it's elementary.
00:31:42.799 --> 00:31:44.319
That's why we call it that.
00:31:44.559 --> 00:31:47.039
And he says the elementary teachings are these six things.
00:31:47.200 --> 00:32:05.839
00:32:06.000 --> 00:32:08.640
So to me, I said, I have six hills that I'll die on.
00:32:08.880 --> 00:32:11.359
Those those things are fundamental, elementary.
00:32:12.079 --> 00:32:18.799
And as we started to do ministry, I found we found sadly, some people didn't even know what the word repent meant.
00:32:18.960 --> 00:32:26.960
They had never repented, some of them had never been baptized, Romans 6, they had never been buried with Christ and risen into a new creation.
00:32:27.119 --> 00:32:30.160
Some of them didn't have the Holy Spirit, they had no fruit of the Holy Spirit.
00:32:30.240 --> 00:32:34.079
You see in Acts 19, uh, these men, Paul's like, hey, did you receive it when you believed?
00:32:34.160 --> 00:32:37.200
They're like, we don't even know there's a Holy Spirit, but they believed in Jesus.
00:32:37.440 --> 00:32:39.680
Same thing happens in uh Acts 8.
00:32:39.759 --> 00:32:53.119
And so we would find when we actually equip them with all the tools that they needed and give them a clear gospel of, hey, Jesus came not just to get you to heaven, but to set you free from sin so that you could be the righteousness of Christ here on the earth.
00:32:53.359 --> 00:33:13.519
When we would give them that full package, I'm telling you, Jay, hundreds of people, their lives were changed overnight, suicidal, addicted, um, depressed, anxious people, changed in one night, living a completely free life, not saying they don't sin, but a free from constant rebellion towards God.
00:33:14.079 --> 00:33:14.799
And guess what?
00:33:14.960 --> 00:33:17.839
The gospel would start to spread like wildfire, domino effect.
00:33:17.920 --> 00:33:22.880
They would tell three friends, and now those three friends are, hey, can you walk us through the gospel?
00:33:22.960 --> 00:33:23.839
Can you help us repent?
00:33:23.920 --> 00:33:27.680
And what we did with that, it wasn't just here, come and let me tell you.
00:33:27.759 --> 00:33:32.640
We would start to train up those who we had just baptized to teach other people.
00:33:32.960 --> 00:33:35.359
Because, like Paul said, I didn't I didn't come to baptize.
00:33:35.440 --> 00:33:38.160
I I'm I want to teach others to do the same thing.
00:33:38.319 --> 00:33:47.839
So I know this is a bit of a long answer, but discipleship is it can't be the pyramid scheme of bring everyone to the man of God because no one is equipped.
00:33:47.920 --> 00:33:58.880
I lived in church, not equipped, didn't know I could pray for the sick, didn't know I could cast out a demon, didn't know I could preach the gospel, but we need to equip everyone to say, you can do this too.
00:33:59.119 --> 00:34:02.799
You have the power, not you, Christ in you.
00:34:03.039 --> 00:34:08.159
Um, and the last thing I'll say what was amazing about this whole process is all these people I'm talking about were Christians.
00:34:08.320 --> 00:34:15.199
They all came out of the church, but they had not been told the gospel, they had not been told the penalty for sin, they had not been told the truth.
00:34:15.360 --> 00:34:17.039
And once they got the truth, what happened?
00:34:17.199 --> 00:34:19.119
They got set free and on fire.
00:34:19.360 --> 00:34:33.199
And so my goal is man, if you can get that to the youth who are way less brainwashed and way less um stubborn, you know, because as we get older, we get more set in our ways, which is good in a sense, but they're so open to the truth.
00:34:33.280 --> 00:34:35.440
They're just dying for something real.
00:34:35.840 --> 00:34:39.360
When we give them what is real, man, you see so much fruit.
00:34:39.440 --> 00:34:41.039
It's it's absolutely insane.
00:34:41.199 --> 00:34:42.480
Um, maybe you have a question.
00:34:42.559 --> 00:34:47.519
I don't want to hog the mic too long, um, but that's a lot of my heart expressed.
00:34:48.320 --> 00:34:52.239
No, I didn't want to cut you off because it was really good to hear all that.
00:34:52.400 --> 00:34:57.599
Um I'm gonna ask you a another question slightly different.
00:34:57.840 --> 00:35:07.440
Um when you come to an area like this, and this is true of a lot of um the United States, um, we are heavily churched.
00:35:07.599 --> 00:35:11.199
So there's a lot of ministries, there's a lot of churches that are already here.
00:35:11.360 --> 00:35:14.719
And you mentioned when you first came, you know, doing some collaborating.
00:35:14.960 --> 00:35:31.039
Um I believe what you're doing is is really awesome when everything you're describing, but how do you keep your heart pure when you are experiencing people that have been in church that aren't really where you they need to be?
00:35:31.360 --> 00:35:39.039
Um and um, you know, how do you not how do you not get upset at some of these other ministries or churches?
00:35:39.199 --> 00:35:42.000
Um, you know, how do you keep your own heart pure on that?
00:35:42.079 --> 00:35:44.320
And you know, just share any thoughts you have on that.
00:35:45.039 --> 00:35:46.960
Yeah, that's so good, Jay.
00:35:47.280 --> 00:35:51.519
Um, yeah, I'll be 100% uh confess.
00:35:51.679 --> 00:35:56.719
I would say the last two years have been amazing, and I really have not felt that anger towards the church.
00:35:56.880 --> 00:36:07.199
But there were many years in ministry that I think I felt a lot of anger and frustration towards the church, which was wrong, and the Lord corrected me on that because of what I felt was an injustice.
00:36:08.000 --> 00:36:10.880
And and I think some of the anger actually was righteous anger.
00:36:10.960 --> 00:36:13.840
I don't think God likes when people are fully deceived.
00:36:14.000 --> 00:36:37.679
00:36:37.920 --> 00:36:42.159
And so I think what the Lord has overarchingly taught me is stay in your lane.
00:36:42.239 --> 00:36:45.920
It doesn't matter what they're doing, what are you doing?
00:36:46.400 --> 00:36:53.360
Before, even I would say years ago, it was very cannibalistic in a way.
00:36:53.519 --> 00:36:57.519
It was like, we have the truth, they don't leave that and come here.
00:36:57.840 --> 00:37:08.719
Um, and it obviously we did that in good intention, but now looking back, we have people we have I have a host I host a Bible study on Monday nights, anywhere from 25 to 30 people, they're all different churches.
00:37:08.800 --> 00:37:11.280
We had a Catholic girl show up for a while, it was awesome.
00:37:11.599 --> 00:37:14.800
Never once did I tell any of them, leave your church.
00:37:15.039 --> 00:37:18.880
Now, if I think the Lord very much well could tell them to leave their church.
00:37:18.960 --> 00:37:28.320
And listen, if your church is preaching a heretical gospel, I mean, uh obviously, but it's not about we're all on mission, whether it's in the church or out.
00:37:28.800 --> 00:37:31.599
The gospel's for the church, the gospel's for the unchurched.
00:37:31.840 --> 00:37:41.039
And so, anymore, I'm like, I just want to see people get on fire and get right with God, whether they come to my house church, my Bible study, any church in the valley here.
00:37:41.119 --> 00:37:43.039
I it doesn't, it doesn't matter.
00:37:43.360 --> 00:37:48.960
I want to get them to find the man because let me tell you, you'll just get churched out.
00:37:49.039 --> 00:38:03.599
You'll get tired of the worship music, you'll get tired of the pastor, you'll get tired of if you don't find the man behind these pages, if you don't find Jesus in the secret place, it's all just man stuff, anyways.
00:38:03.760 --> 00:38:06.880
And so God's really shown me, Taylor, it's it's not about you either.
00:38:07.039 --> 00:38:14.400
Just because maybe you have more truth or however you want to say that, or or you know, your method works, it doesn't matter.
00:38:14.639 --> 00:38:20.000
Move with compassion like Jesus did, love the people and don't worry about all the other ministries.
00:38:20.159 --> 00:38:22.800
God will judge them, God will do what he wants with them.
00:38:22.960 --> 00:38:24.320
Just help the people.
00:38:24.480 --> 00:38:27.039
Um, and that's really helped me to just clear keep a clear mind.
00:38:27.199 --> 00:38:28.079
Like, it doesn't matter.
00:38:28.159 --> 00:38:31.840
I'm in my lane, I know what God told me to do, help them.
00:38:32.239 --> 00:38:34.079
So I hope that answers your question.
00:38:34.159 --> 00:38:34.880
But it is hard.
00:38:34.960 --> 00:38:44.239
You do have to pray a lot, and you really um you have to confess the Lord when there does come that competitive spirit over you in ministry of like, nope, it doesn't, it doesn't matter.
00:38:44.320 --> 00:38:45.199
I don't care.
00:38:45.440 --> 00:38:50.400
It's not about me, it's about these kids, it's about these young adults knowing him, you know.
00:38:51.039 --> 00:38:52.960
So it's hard, but yeah.
00:38:54.159 --> 00:38:55.920
Yeah, no, that's really good.
00:38:56.159 --> 00:39:03.599
Um Taylor, I'm wondering if you just have one or two stories that you want to share.
00:39:03.760 --> 00:39:16.639
Uh, it could be anything just over the last few years, or even back in California, of just your your journey with God and miss ministering to others um that just you think would be impactful for our listeners to hear.
00:39:17.440 --> 00:39:18.239
Yeah, sure.
00:39:18.320 --> 00:39:20.880
Let me Holy Spirit.
00:39:21.119 --> 00:39:24.559
There's so many stories that sometimes it's hard to remember all of them.
00:39:28.639 --> 00:39:30.800
I don't know why this one's coming to my mind.
00:39:30.880 --> 00:39:32.639
I there's a couple that come to my mind.
00:39:32.800 --> 00:39:54.480
Um this one's less of like a it's more just reality of what's going on right now, but um it kind of goes along with what I was speaking earlier, but for so long, I think especially young people, because um we have less wisdom, we have less time in this, and even for myself, I'm still young in this.
00:39:55.199 --> 00:40:07.360
Um the temptation would be when a lot of people start showing up to your gatherings to st to not say certain things because it might offend people, it might make them leave, it might make them not like you.
00:40:08.320 --> 00:40:13.440
And what God is showing you about his grace and his goodness, this is not always the case.
00:40:13.599 --> 00:40:18.960
But I made the joke at Bible study last time, like that the more radical I preach, the more people are showing up.
00:40:19.599 --> 00:40:20.800
Now, that's not always the case.
00:40:20.960 --> 00:40:31.519
You read the old testament, that's not always the case, but one of the stories I want to share is truly do not hold back the truth thinking that you're helping.
00:40:32.559 --> 00:40:36.320
So the truth has the power to set people free.
00:40:36.400 --> 00:40:41.840
I mean, last night I preached on intentional sin versus accidental sin.
00:40:42.000 --> 00:40:42.719
It got serious.
00:40:42.800 --> 00:40:49.280
We went to all the scriptures that are scary and hard, and I prayed, Lord, help no one to feel condemnation.
00:40:49.360 --> 00:40:49.920
I don't want that.
00:40:50.000 --> 00:40:55.039
I want us to be awakened, though, to the importance of turning and the importance of repentance.
00:40:55.119 --> 00:41:05.440
And man, we got 25 kids in there, it ended, and there was a joy that filled the room, and everyone was going around the room saying, I'm convicted, I want to change, I want this, I want that.
00:41:06.239 --> 00:41:10.079
There were so many times I was tempted, Jay, to say, I'm sorry, because I know this is heavy.
00:41:10.159 --> 00:41:14.719
And God's like, Don't say sorry, why would you apologize for the truth?
00:41:15.119 --> 00:41:17.920
Last week at Bible study, this is such a cool thing.
00:41:18.159 --> 00:41:26.960
I taught on confession, and uh what we like to do before we take communion is we have everyone, well, not everyone, but if you feel like you want to confess, people confess.
00:41:27.119 --> 00:41:30.960
But in this room we preached on confession, and it was so clear from scripture how powerful it was.
00:41:31.039 --> 00:41:33.280
I said, everyone tonight needs to confess.
00:41:33.440 --> 00:41:44.800
It was 25 kids, and I sat there in silence, watched 25 kids, all mostly under the age of 24, confess their sins to one another.
00:41:45.599 --> 00:41:54.880
I mean, that was I was blown away at the beauty of the truth transforming lives and and the love of Jesus penetrating people.
00:41:54.960 --> 00:42:00.639
And that was like, and then again, I have so many stories of like demons getting cast down, people getting supernaturally healed, and all this stuff.
00:42:00.719 --> 00:42:05.920
But there was something about that that I was like, oh my goodness, they're they're getting it.
00:42:06.000 --> 00:42:15.039
They're they're reading the scripture and not just saying, Oh, it's a good idea to confess, but then they're they're doing it and they're applying it and they're seeing the power of it.
00:42:15.519 --> 00:42:19.440
Um but one other cool story I'll share that was pretty awesome.
00:42:19.599 --> 00:42:41.199
00:42:41.360 --> 00:42:43.199
You cannot understand anything without him.
00:42:43.679 --> 00:42:45.760
And so when you know, it's it's weird.
00:42:45.840 --> 00:42:51.360
Let's say you give a teaching on healing, and then a bunch of people walk out still needing healing.
00:42:51.760 --> 00:42:52.400
That was a great teaching.
00:42:52.480 --> 00:42:55.360
I'm like, okay, you're not you're not getting it.
00:42:55.599 --> 00:43:00.480
I want this to go beyond good teaching, I want it to go beyond lifestyle, you know, to lifestyle.
00:43:00.639 --> 00:43:12.559
And a couple weeks ago or months ago, we were preaching on deliverance, and people um, I shared a ton of stories about people who have um had demonic uh encounters, demonic problems, myself included.
00:43:12.639 --> 00:43:14.559
I was addicted to porn for years.
00:43:14.719 --> 00:43:20.719
Um, I literally got demons cast out of me, and I have not gone back to porn in almost seven years.
00:43:20.960 --> 00:43:22.159
Praise be to God.
00:43:22.639 --> 00:43:26.159
And um, a girl came up to me, she said, I have really bad anger.
00:43:26.320 --> 00:43:26.960
Can you pray for me?
00:43:27.039 --> 00:43:30.079
I've been trying to repent every single day, but it will not go.
00:43:30.320 --> 00:43:34.079
And I was like, Yeah, I was like, Have you ever been prayed for, you know, for deliverance?
00:43:34.239 --> 00:43:34.559
She said, No.
00:43:34.639 --> 00:43:36.159
I was like, Okay, is it is it okay?
00:43:36.239 --> 00:43:36.800
She's like, Yes.
00:43:36.880 --> 00:43:41.039
I call uh my sister over, like, because I didn't want to be a guy doing it on a girl.
00:43:41.199 --> 00:43:45.679
And we just started praying for her Holy Spirit, come, Holy Spirit come and set her free.
00:43:45.920 --> 00:43:47.840
And she started manifesting a demon.
00:43:47.920 --> 00:43:48.800
She started crying.
00:43:48.960 --> 00:43:50.000
The demon left.
00:43:50.159 --> 00:43:53.280
I hear from her the next week zero struggle with anger.
00:43:53.440 --> 00:43:54.719
I'm free, it's gone.
00:43:54.880 --> 00:43:59.280
It's it's like bizarre, Taylor, like how easy it is now to overcome.
00:43:59.440 --> 00:44:03.280
And I was like, yes, someone took the teaching and didn't just say, Oh, that's cool.
00:44:03.519 --> 00:44:04.960
They said, Wait, I need this.
00:44:05.119 --> 00:44:05.920
I believe for this.
00:44:06.079 --> 00:44:07.679
I know that Jesus can set me free.
00:44:08.000 --> 00:44:12.400
They had the the strength to ask, and they got set free right there.
00:44:12.800 --> 00:44:14.480
You know, we've become so intellectual.
00:44:14.559 --> 00:44:16.719
It's like, what about just praying for each other?
00:44:16.960 --> 00:44:18.559
What about asking the Lord?
00:44:18.639 --> 00:44:19.039
You know?
00:44:19.280 --> 00:44:27.039
So man, God is doing something in the youth, and um, we want to be literate in scripture and we want to be literate in the spirit.
00:44:27.280 --> 00:44:29.199
We don't want to favor one side.
00:44:29.760 --> 00:44:32.320
So I don't know, those are just a couple stories that came to my mind.
00:44:32.400 --> 00:44:33.760
Hopefully, those are cool.
00:44:34.159 --> 00:44:36.239
No, they're wonderful, so good.
00:44:36.719 --> 00:44:40.480
Yeah, and I'd also say about discipleship to your question about discipleship.
00:44:40.639 --> 00:44:50.559
Um I try to make discipleship uh is extremely um easy um for people to understand so that they can apply.
00:44:50.719 --> 00:44:57.679
Um when when people uh share the gospel with someone and they say they'll call me or text me, hey Taylor, have this guy interested.
00:44:57.920 --> 00:44:58.480
Can you talk to him?
00:44:58.559 --> 00:44:59.039
Can you this?
00:44:59.119 --> 00:44:59.760
Can you that?
00:45:00.320 --> 00:45:06.800
I'll discern sometimes yes, but sometimes, hey, actually, no, I think you should meet with them and I think you should tell them.
00:45:07.280 --> 00:45:17.119
And um, training people to not go to the pastor, although it's good and it's healthy to have um authority over you, but to say, wait, I I can actually do this.
00:45:17.280 --> 00:45:29.760
And how I always describe discipleship to people is discipleship is basically being one step ahead of someone and encouraging them, exhorting them, and correcting them when necessary in life.
00:45:29.920 --> 00:45:32.159
It does not mean you have to be a Bible teacher.
00:45:32.239 --> 00:45:34.480
It does not mean that you have to know everything.
00:45:34.639 --> 00:45:39.039
It just means that you know a little bit more and you can help the last person.
00:45:39.199 --> 00:45:55.440
And what I see, this is my vision for the church that I hope we see in our day and age, is you'll see this beautiful train then of discipleship that I'm discipling X, X is discipling Y, Y is discipling Z, Z is discipling A, so on and so forth.
00:45:55.599 --> 00:45:59.360
And so we're all learning top down in this chain.
00:45:59.599 --> 00:46:03.920
So rather than A coming to W, A just goes to Z.
00:46:04.239 --> 00:46:08.800
And then there's no more superstar Christianity of oh, the holy man of God.
00:46:08.880 --> 00:46:11.360
It's no, we all have the Holy Spirit.
00:46:11.440 --> 00:46:13.920
We all have the same Holy Spirit, no one gets a junior holy spirit.
00:46:14.000 --> 00:46:15.440
We are all anointed.
00:46:15.920 --> 00:46:16.320
Yes.
00:46:16.559 --> 00:46:20.159
Do some are some people needing to just be discipled and not disciple anyone?
00:46:20.320 --> 00:46:20.559
Yes.
00:46:20.639 --> 00:46:24.559
There's some you you need a time of just becoming solid with the Lord for sure.
00:46:24.639 --> 00:46:26.000
Don't just go out discipling.
00:46:26.159 --> 00:46:47.840
00:46:48.000 --> 00:46:49.519
Hey, how are you doing with lust?
00:46:49.760 --> 00:46:51.199
Hey, how are you doing with prayer?
00:46:51.360 --> 00:46:52.880
Hey, how are you doing with reading the word?
00:46:53.119 --> 00:46:54.639
And you keep them accountable.
00:46:54.880 --> 00:46:57.679
Because, man, if we were all accountable, we would be on fire.
00:46:57.760 --> 00:47:01.119
But unfortunately, so many of us, no one's checking in on us.
00:47:01.280 --> 00:47:03.920
And so we're just slowly dying.
00:47:04.159 --> 00:47:07.679
And I'll tell you, listening to a sermon on Sunday is not being discipled.
00:47:07.840 --> 00:47:09.280
You're being taught, and that's really good.
00:47:09.360 --> 00:47:10.400
And teaching is awesome.
00:47:10.559 --> 00:47:14.239
I love teaching, but being taught and being discipled are two different things.
00:47:14.400 --> 00:47:29.679
Discipleship, in my opinion, is something that happens one-on-one, or you know, a very small group where you get into every intimate part of your life and you allow someone to speak into that and teach you how to grow into the image of Christ.
00:47:29.920 --> 00:47:32.320
So I hope that helps everyone listening.
00:47:32.639 --> 00:47:33.119
For sure.
00:47:33.360 --> 00:47:36.480
Taylor, I just really want you to pray for our listeners now.
00:47:36.719 --> 00:47:43.760
Um, you've you've shared a lot of this stuff, you've really been exhorting us, and I'm challenged by what you're saying in a really good way.
00:47:43.840 --> 00:47:44.880
It's motivating me.
00:47:45.039 --> 00:47:47.440
And I just I know that's our listeners would say the same.
00:47:47.599 --> 00:47:51.920
I'd love for you to just pray for our all of us right now, yeah as we hear you.
00:47:52.320 --> 00:47:52.719
Absolutely.
00:47:52.880 --> 00:47:54.239
I'd love to do that.
00:47:57.440 --> 00:47:58.239
Yes, Lord.
00:47:58.320 --> 00:47:59.679
Thank you, Jesus.
00:48:00.639 --> 00:48:09.440
Thank you, Lord, so much for Jay and the opportunity that he gave me to come today and just speak just about what you've done, Lord.
00:48:09.519 --> 00:48:10.639
All glory to you, God.
00:48:10.719 --> 00:48:16.559
It's it's the beauty of the message today, Lord, is that it no one has a superpower, Lord.
00:48:16.639 --> 00:48:18.719
The superpower is your spirit.
00:48:19.920 --> 00:48:31.599
And Jesus, Lord, you said, Go out and make disciples, baptizing them and teaching them to observe everything that I have commanded.
00:48:31.679 --> 00:48:34.719
Lord, this is the command that you left with us.
00:48:34.880 --> 00:48:41.920
And even going all the way back to the Old Testament, the law is summed up in this love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength.
00:48:42.000 --> 00:48:43.679
Love your neighbor as yourself.
00:48:44.639 --> 00:48:53.679
Jesus, I feel strongly that you are saying conferences are great, church is great, even on the street, evangelism is great.
00:48:53.760 --> 00:49:06.320
But if no one checks up on those people, those things can make us feel really good, but sometimes be at a disadvantage for those who are attending or being encountered.
00:49:06.480 --> 00:49:22.960
And I pray, Holy Spirit, right now, that you would fill every person listening, including me and Jay, Lord, with more of this, fill them with a fire to go out and make disciples, baptizing them and teaching them to obey everything that you've commanded, Lord.
00:49:23.039 --> 00:49:32.239
You said um through the writer of Hebrews, as long as it is called today, encourage the brethren that they may not fall into the deceitfulness of sin.
00:49:32.639 --> 00:49:33.840
Wow, Lord.
00:49:34.159 --> 00:49:38.559
All it takes sometimes is just us encouraging each other to keep us from sin.
00:49:38.880 --> 00:49:44.000
I pray God that a discipleship um movement would begin.
00:49:44.239 --> 00:50:01.679
Lord, a discipleship revival would start, Lord, not one that starts in in a uh a huge amphitheater, but one that starts at a coffee shop table, one that starts at a you know dining room table, or just talking to a neighbor, to a friend, to a family member and saying, Hey, do you need help?
00:50:01.840 --> 00:50:03.440
Do you need to be discipled?
00:50:03.599 --> 00:50:09.440
Do you need someone to keep you accountable with this sin issue or with your personal spiritual life?
00:50:09.760 --> 00:50:22.400
God, fill us with the ability to go out, preach the gospel, make disciples, and as you did, Jesus, move with compassion for those around us who just need us.
00:50:22.559 --> 00:50:24.159
Lord, all you're asking for is our time.
00:50:24.239 --> 00:50:26.159
We don't even need to know all the answers.
00:50:26.400 --> 00:50:30.719
People just need the love of God manifested by us just showing up.
00:50:31.440 --> 00:50:40.400
So I just pray, Jesus, you would help us to have a missional heart, God, for your people and for the lost collectively.
00:50:41.119 --> 00:50:42.719
In Jesus' name.
00:50:43.920 --> 00:50:50.639
And as you're listening to this podcast now, um, there's a lot we heard in this time.
00:50:50.800 --> 00:51:00.559
There's things that probably convicted your own soul that the Holy Spirit wants to work on as you're reflecting, as you're meditating on what was shared.
00:51:02.480 --> 00:51:11.599
And there's also probably people that as you hear all this, you're realizing, you know what, I actually do need to reach out to this person.
00:51:11.840 --> 00:51:15.599
I might have just thought they were okay, but I'm not really sure where they're really at.
00:51:15.760 --> 00:51:28.079
I feel like some of you, as you're hearing this, it's like you're recognizing, okay, in a fresh way, that there to be a disciple of Jesus is a radical thing.
00:51:28.719 --> 00:51:30.000
It's a radical thing.
00:51:30.079 --> 00:51:31.440
It's to be all in.
00:51:35.199 --> 00:51:38.719
So, Lord, would you come and minister to us personally?
00:51:39.039 --> 00:51:46.719
And as we think about how to help others truly be your disciples, we just wait on you, Holy Spirit, right now.
00:52:49.519 --> 00:52:51.599
Thank you, Lord, for your presence.
00:52:52.480 --> 00:52:58.000
We thank you for your kindness that leads us to repentance.
00:52:58.320 --> 00:53:04.239
We thank you for your truth, which cuts through lies and brings us to freedom.
00:53:04.639 --> 00:53:12.079
Lord, who help all of us to know the truth and continually meditate on the truth that sets us free.
00:53:12.400 --> 00:53:15.440
We say yes to your great commission, Lord.
00:53:16.239 --> 00:53:21.760
We say yes to being your disciples and taking up our cross and following you.
00:53:22.239 --> 00:53:25.039
All for your glory in Jesus' mighty name.
00:53:25.360 --> 00:53:26.000
Amen.
00:53:26.800 --> 00:53:27.440
Amen.
00:53:28.000 --> 00:53:28.639
Amen.
00:53:29.840 --> 00:53:33.199
Well, Taylor, it's been awesome having you on the podcast.
00:53:33.280 --> 00:53:35.760
Uh, I think I'm gonna have to listen to this one a couple of times.
00:53:36.000 --> 00:53:36.639
So good.
00:53:37.119 --> 00:53:38.000
Oh, praise God.
00:53:38.159 --> 00:53:39.199
Thank you, Jay, for having me.
00:53:39.280 --> 00:53:41.280
So much fun, and thank you guys, everyone who listened.
00:53:41.360 --> 00:53:42.320
Um, appreciate it.
00:53:42.400 --> 00:53:43.760
Yeah, love you all.
