Digger - The Most Important Movie In 20 Years

Is Digger the most important movie in 20 years?

In this episode of Chatting Script, I make the case for why Digger could be one of the most significant films in decades. Beneath its striking presentation and all-star cast lies a film with some serious things to say about the world we live in — and the responsibilities that come with it.

We discuss the film's ambitious ideas, why its themes feel so urgent, and how it balances a weighty message with an unconventional cinematic experience.

The performances are a major part of what makes it work, with Riz Ahmed and John Goodman among the standouts. But special attention goes to Tom Cruise, whose work here deserves a closer look. We also explore the fascinating way the cast is arranged and directed, and how the film's theatrical sensibilities shape the experience.

Is Digger simply an ambitious piece of cinema, or is it the kind of film that could genuinely matter for years to come?

This is one worth talking about.
