Hey, Podcasters!
I talk with podcasters all the time who don't launch their shows because they think there are already too many podcasts about their topic.
They might be right; the category could be crowded.
But instead of focusing on a category, they should be focusing on their niche.
This week on Buzzcast, we break down the difference, and it’s one of those shifts that changes how you approach your entire show!
A category is broad: business, parenting, true crime.
A niche is where things get interesting. It’s who you’re talking to, how you structure the show, the tone you bring, and the promise you make to the listener at the end of each episode.
That’s why you can have dozens of podcasts covering the same topic, and they still feel completely different; they all have a different niche.
If you're ready to have your podcast stand out in a crowded space, check out this week's episode of Buzzcast!

00:00:00.160 --> 00:00:04.959
Hey podcasters, I'm Megan, and this is Buzzsprout Weekly.
00:00:04.959 --> 00:00:14.480
I talk with podcasters all the time who don't launch their shows because they think that there are already too many podcasts about their topic.
00:00:14.480 --> 00:00:22.160
They might be right, the category could be crowded, but instead of focusing on a category, they should be focusing on their niche.
00:00:22.160 --> 00:00:29.519
This week on Buzzcast, we break down the difference, and it's one of those shifts that can change how you approach your entire show.
00:00:29.519 --> 00:00:31.359
A category is broad.
00:00:31.359 --> 00:00:34.880
Think like business, parenting, or true crime.
00:00:34.880 --> 00:00:37.280
A niche is where things get interesting.
00:00:37.280 --> 00:00:44.799
It's who you're talking to, how you structure the show, the tone you bring, and the promise you make to your listener at the end of each episode.
00:00:44.799 --> 00:00:50.079
That's why you can have dozens of podcasts covering the same topic and they still feel completely different.
00:00:50.079 --> 00:00:52.320
They all have a different niche.
00:00:52.320 --> 00:00:58.079
If you're ready to have your podcast stand out in a crowded space, check out this week's episode of Buzzcast.

00:01:23.359 --> 00:01:30.719
In today's fast-paced world, both podcast guests and hosts are competing to gain more attention and traction for their brands.
00:01:30.719 --> 00:01:34.159
It seems that to stand out, we have to do more and more.
00:01:34.159 --> 00:01:36.319
But that couldn't be further from the truth.
00:01:36.319 --> 00:01:48.159
In this episode of Podcasting Made Simple, Buzzsprout co-founder Tom Rossi and Alex Sam Filippo explain how they've both built podcasting businesses by doing something that's different than the norm.
