ABOUT THIS EPISODE
In this first episode of a three-part series, Winston walks through his three favorite arguments for the existence of God: the contingency argument, the Kalam cosmological argument, and the fine-tuning argument.
Rather than starting with Christianity specifically, this episode takes a step back and asks a more fundamental question: Is there something beyond the material universe? Winston explains why he thinks the existence of contingent things points to a necessary reality, why the beginning of the universe points to a cause beyond the universe, and why the precise conditions necessary for life raise questions about design.
These arguments don't by themselves prove Christianity or Catholicism, but they provide a philosophical foundation for believing that reality extends beyond the material world. In the next two episodes, Winston will build on these arguments and explore where the evidence leads from there.
