ABOUT THIS EPISODE
The Washington Commanders are entering their bye week at 1-4-1, and with the NFL trade deadline approaching, Sean Anderson has two trades he believes Washington should seriously consider making. The Commanders need help. Terry McLaurin is out for the season after suffering a torn patellar tendon against the San Francisco 49ers, leaving Washington with major questions at wide receiver. The running back room also hasn't established a true difference-maker. So what can Washington do? Sean turns to the A to Z Sports Trade Simulator to build two potential trades that could immediately improve the Commanders' offense. The first trade sends Washington to the New York Jets for Breece Hall. Sean believes the Commanders need a legitimate difference-making running back, and he doesn't believe the current combination of Jeremy McNichols, Austin Ekeler, Rashad White and Corey Merritt is enough for the future. In Sean's proposed deal, Washington sends Corey Merritt and a fifth-round pick to New York in exchange for Breece Hall. The Trade Simulator considers the deal favorable for Washington. Hall would immediately give Jayden Daniels a dynamic running back capable of creating explosive plays and potentially becoming a long-term piece of the offense. The second trade targets Jerry Jeudy. With Terry McLaurin out for the season, Sean believes Washington needs another explosive option in its wide receiver room. Jeudy has seen his role diminish in Cleveland, and Sean believes that could create an opportunity for Washington. His proposed trade sends a fourth- or fifth-round pick to Cleveland for Jeudy, with the Trade Simulator viewing the fifth-round version as a fair deal that slightly favors Washington. Jeudy wouldn't necessarily have to become Washington's No. 1 receiver. Instead, Sean argues that the Commanders could build a deep receiving group featuring Stefon Diggs, Antonio Williams, Treylon Burks, Chigoziem Okonkwo and Jeudy. The idea is simple: Washington doesn't necessarily need another superstar. It needs more legitimate No. 2-type weapons around Jayden Daniels. Sean believes Breece Hall and Jerry Jeudy could provide exactly that. The bigger question is whether Washington should be buyers at all. At 1-4-1, the Commanders aren't in an ideal position to sacrifice future draft capital. But with the NFC East still wide open, Sean believes Washington should at least explore moves that can help both immediately and beyond this season. Could Breece Hall finally give Washington a legitimate running game? Could Jerry Jeudy help replace Terry McLaurin's production? Should the Commanders make both trades? And what other players should Washington target before the NFL trade deadline? Sean Anderson uses the A to Z Sports Trade Simulator to build potential trades and explain how Washington could upgrade its offense.
