Speaker 1: I shift Hi, We'll see if I can get through this without having a sneezing attack. I don't know what's going going on with me. It kind of got me just a second ago.
00:00:19
Speaker 2: But we're living in the devil's dust ball over here in Tennessee.
00:00:22
Speaker 1: God, for real, it's so weird. I'm like this. My mom is like this. If I sneeze one time, I'm sneezing twenty I've.
00:00:28
Speaker 2: Never sneezed once in my life, like a single sneeze, Like I got you. It's like I'm a a like a machine gun when it.
00:00:36
Speaker 1: Comes me too. But some people are not like that. They sneeze one time and they're over it.
00:00:40
Speaker 2: Yeah, not me. And I mean I take an allergy pill three hundred and sixty five days a year.
00:00:45
Speaker 1: See, I just don't want to be on medicine like that. Like, why don't you do a supplement other than like allegra or something. It doesn't do it.
00:00:54
Speaker 2: My allergies are so bad.
00:00:55
Speaker 1: I mean, you are bad. I've heard it.
00:00:57
Speaker 2: Just it just u it helps me regulate it. And to be honest, I really started doing that after I moved to Nashville, and my allergies have gotten I'm not that my allergies have gotten better, but like I've seen a market difference. Like I used to get a sinus infection no matter where I lived at the change of the seasons.
00:01:19
Speaker 1: Do they say that you get like desensitized to the medicine?
00:01:22
Speaker 2: Though if you take it, I switch them up. I go from like Clarendon to Zertec to my favorite is as all if that's all, Yeah.
00:01:33
Speaker 1: I know what you're talking about. Yeah, I'm sure this is like so intriguing, Like.
00:01:37
Speaker 2: This is not like what did we see people?
00:01:44
Speaker 1: I mean, this is sort of where our life is though. This is the kind of ship I'm like, I constantly feel like I'm talking about, well, what supplements are you on? Because like all my friends are dealing with hormone stuff, you know, And I keep saying that on this podcast where it's like, oh, what do you do for sleep? This is is what like adult life becomes. I feel, what what medicines are you on?
00:02:04
Speaker 2: Well? You know, it's funny I said this to a friend the other day, you know how like people talk shit about talking about the weather, like, I mean, there's something more.
00:02:12
Speaker 1: Interesting, but it's all I talk about too.
00:02:13
Speaker 2: But also it's on the news every night. Like the weather is a constant conversation.
00:02:18
Speaker 1: It's an instruction.
00:02:19
Speaker 2: It has its own like, it has its own person. You know, they have to hire a person to talk about the weather, So like, why is it so embarrassing?
00:02:28
Speaker 1: Yeah, let's pretend like the weather's insignificant. Guy, Yeah, I mean it actually does make a difference in your day to day life though.
00:02:34
Speaker 2: Yeah. So I'm not going to go out on the boat if it's pouring rain and lightning, right, so, let's fucking talk about it.
00:02:39
Speaker 1: Why can't we talk about it?
00:02:41
Speaker 2: That's what I need to know, Like pro weather right now, Like, let's go.
00:02:44
Speaker 1: Weather, let's go weather. It's one hundred degrees outside. I'm like, let's cool down.
00:02:52
Speaker 2: I don't know. I kind of like the sunshine though, Like, thank god for air conditioning.
00:02:57
Speaker 1: You know what the best part about you is a is you're sitting here acting as if you've been in Nashville for more than one day to even gauge what the weather has been.
00:03:08
Speaker 2: I'm here for two weeks right now, and I'm like, oh my god, there is not a dropper rain in the forecast.
00:03:12
Speaker 1: Oh okay, well that's just the two weeks that you're here because all it's been doing is raining, and it's.
00:03:17
Speaker 2: I planned that I scheduled my whole summer round.
00:03:19
Speaker 1: You just brought the sunshine. You're just such a little ray of lights. Well, with that said, I feel like that's actually a good transition, is the ray of light that you bring us all every week. But it is an interesting podcast topic today. I'm sure you guys have noticed a little bit. We have been doing some of my favorite episodes the last couple of weeks, and then the constant conversation obviously that we're having is around where's Chip this week? And where am I?
00:03:46
Speaker 2: Like?
00:03:46
Speaker 1: What city are we in and what jobs are we working on and stuff, And we've kind of come to this place and it feels like I told you today, I was like, I've been like a little emotional, and I don't I did not really underst and that this would hit me this way. But Chip and I have decided to actually listen to what we talk about on this podcast all the time, and we're going to take a hiatus from the podcast. It may be an indefinite hiatus, it may not be. We really kind of are leaving this like open space for what is coming next and you can.
00:04:21
Speaker 2: Graduate to the next best thing.
00:04:23
Speaker 1: Yeah, like you might have such a good point. We were talking about this a little bit before we started recording, and Chip was like, you know, I think if anyone went back to the beginning of the Velvet Edge podcast and like even when you joined, it's very obvious this has always been a podcast that is like a seeking space. Like it's just the space that we've really wanted to contemplate the questions that we're having in life, the seasons that we're going through, the relationship issues we're bumping up against, the things we know, like within ourselves that we want to learn and change and grow with. And this feels like the next right step that like it doesn't feel like this ending or this pause even that it's been before, Like I've taken pauses from this podcast before, and it always has come for me breaking down in life, having a mental breakdown, whatever you want to call it, because I'm going through something. You know, I'm in a really hard space and mostly because I've let myself start being dragged by those things like I'm not I'm going kicking and screaming, I'm not listening to what the universe is putting right in front of me, and it puts me in this place of crashing, and I don't want to get there again. Like that is something I consciously keep trying to face in my life. Is like if the universe is showing me something like listen, you know, like we always say when people show you who they are, believe them, And it's a similar thing for me. It's like when the universe is presenting you with all of the fucking facts and opening up all these new worlds. Like you and I both have so many opportunities that are just coming at us right now, and it if I didn't listen to that nudge, I would regret that, you know, And I think that would put us back in this place of crash. And I don't want to be in a place of crash. And I don't feel like this podcast is in a place of crash or a place to crash, Like this is the space become and just like own our shit and ask more questions and listen to the universe and talk about what we're facing in our lives. And so that's kind of where we've gotten, is that we're in this space right now where both of us have so many opportunities that we're so excited about, and like I'm like so grateful, you know, Like I don't feel like sad about any of that, obviously, but it's just become very apparent to us that like, Okay, we're not able to show up in the full capacity that you and I want to show up on this podcast right now, and so maybe it's time to hit a little hiatus and see what we feel.
00:06:53
Speaker 2: Yeah, I was saying earlier before we started recording, like the we preach like listening to the universe nice, and it feels inauthentic for us to be presented by all these opportunities from the universe and not lean into them completely. And you know, the universe provides, but it doesn't necessarily control everything at least, Like that's how I feel like.
00:07:18
Speaker 1: We all have free will.
00:07:19
Speaker 2: Yeah, we have free will, and this is our chance to sort of take what the universe is putting in front of us and take control of those opportunities versus letting them pass or doing all of it half asked. And you know, I think the listeners have like invested just as much time in listening to these things as we have into producing them, and that is not lost on us, but it's not fair for us to expect our listeners to listen to something that we aren't putting one hundred percent into. Like that's just not a fair request. So I would much rather, and I'm sure Kelly agrees, like if and when this we we reunite, it should come with one hundred percent like fanfare and passion and commitment and all of those things. And if we're not able to do that, then we you know, we'll sail into the night. And that's fine too, you know, Like I think the opportunity that I mean, I don't even I can't even remember how long I've been doing this. I feel like I joined in the pandemic at some point at.
00:08:27
Speaker 1: Least, yeah, maybe a little bit before. I know it was before that.
00:08:30
Speaker 2: Yeah, And it's I mean, this has been my therapy, Like I'm gonna have to go find a therapist because I've like learned to talk in ways that like I didn't. I've been really open about things that like I think historically I don't even know that I would have brought up with friends. I would have just like that would have been shit that I would have just dealt with personally and I have. Like when you say things into a microphone that you have no idea who's listening on the other side. It creates a level of accountability with in yourself. That and reflection because sometimes you don't even know what you're going to say and it comes out and you're like, well, that was true. And so this has been it's been such a wild ride. Like it wasn't I never even set out to This wasn't like a dream of mine. It was just an idea that Kelly had, and it's been so fun. It's like there's a few people out there that, like I know, listen that are friends of mine for a long time, and that's the thing that's making me the saddest because like, well, text about what we've talked, what you and I talked about on the podcast, and those friends feel really connected to me because they know what's going on in my life because I say it out into the universe, and you know, there are people out there that we don't know, that our friends that we've created this bond with, and that makes me sad to think that, like we may never speak again, but you know, all the stuff that we've made is still here. If you need to go back and listen to it. I'm probably going to go back and listen, like fine, like go listen to the the eras that we went through.
00:10:02
Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, Like that's the part that's so fascinating to me. And I was getting so teary listening to you say that, because for me, the thing I told you when I first started having these kind of like pings of maybe this is the direction I wanted to go, I said, but I love, like one of my favorite things is I get like an hour to talk to you every week and we like, I know what's happening in your life, and he goes, we can just hang out.
00:10:26
Speaker 2: Yeah, we can do this. I rl we literally live like fourteen minutes.
00:10:30
Speaker 1: No, But do you know what's so fascinating about humans to me is like we had this standing I'm gonna call it a responsibility, even though like there's so much more to this than that, but we had this thing that we were both so invested in that it became like, you know, it was like our duty each week to do this or whatever. We signed up for it, and we both are very like big on following through, So like I knew regardless of how busy we were I was gonna have that like that little anchor of okay, but we'll have you know, that moment. And that's just the thing, like our lives are so busy and we both are like traveling and all these things, and so as much as you say, oh, we'll see each other every week, I know how hard it is to schedule with people. And it's like, so then you know, there's a little bit of a am We're not in a like one on one setting where we're talking about what some expert taught us this week.
00:11:24
Speaker 2: This is a little bit we're gonna read more and like be like, hey, Kelly, I read this book. Let's chat about right. Can we like just a two person book club. That's what we're going to bring this down to.
00:11:34
Speaker 1: Well, And I do want to kind of touch on that because it's like you said, like this has been your therapy and there has been so much growth, I think for both of us. So if that is a fascinating thing, Like if someone went back and listened to the beginning of this podcast, God the eras.
00:11:47
Speaker 2: Like I mean we were like trying to be shock jocks for a second.
00:11:51
Speaker 1: Well, I mean we thought we were so funny we were getting drunk on the podcast and talking about all of our sexual escapades. Like there was all those seasons. There was the seasons where I was still interviewing celebrities and like just that seemed like, Okay, this is the route I want to go with this and let me you know, the edge of the podcast was like I'm going to ask the celebrity what their favorite sex position is. Like it was just so different. And then life happens, and you know, we just decided that this podcast was going to be a space that was going with us wherever we were going in life, and where we both started going was like a little more of this seeking place and just like all right, like those things are cool and fun, but like we're facing real life shit here. And like during the pandemic specifically, is like the whole world started to change, So how are we going to not talk about that? Like that is what the era became, you know, And for me, it was more like, Okay, we can't control the world around us, so like how do we control how we feel? And like dive deeper into learning the tools that we need to learn to deal with all this shit. You know, so if anyone's still feeling that, Like, I mean, there's so I've been doing this.
00:12:58
Speaker 2: For eight years and almost weekly.
00:13:01
Speaker 1: Well, oh, I've done it weekly for eight years, and then when you started we started doing it, I started doing it twice weekly. So I'm almost to eight hundred recorded episodes, and like when that was another thing, like the producer, our producer, Houston notified me of that and it was a oh my god, like it was a positive conversation he and I had, and then I was sort of like, Okay, you are not a person that just loves to hear yourself talk, Like do you have anything else to offer the world, Like you've given this many episodes, Like what else is it that you want to say? And I think that what's really important about this hiatus that we're going on is like I think in life, we can go learn all the things we want to learn. We can read all the books, we can meet with all the therapists, we can do listen to all the podcasts, But if we don't take the time to integrate and let life happen, it doesn't really like fully complete the circle. Does that make sense? Right?
00:13:54
Speaker 2: It feels like Adele has to go live to write another record. That's what takes so long.
00:13:58
Speaker 1: What beauty is that though, Like I respect it so much because most people get caught in the like money chasing grind of this business, and the reality is creativity happens in the quiet, like for me at least, like I told when I was having this initial conversation with iHeart, which by the way, they were so amazing when I brought this to them, Like I did not know what to expect, and I thought they were going to be like, well, you know, like really next New York. They were so amazing. They really, I mean, they definitely were like the door's always open, so if you guys want to come back and start something again or whatever like and that felt comforting to me to know, you know, because you go, oh my god, like I don't want to walk away from such a big opportunity, and they're like, you don't have to, like it can be what we need this.
00:14:44
Speaker 2: To be or whatever.
00:14:53
Speaker 1: The one thing I mentioned to them was like, I just know myself and my process and like, right now I I feel like I'm doing is not phoning it in. I was actually genuinely really interested in the people I've talked to this year and so grateful for those conversations. But I didn't feel like I was like my heart was fully open, I guess if that makes sense. And I just said, I just need time to dream, like I'm a Pisce's moon. That is the way that I do it. You're the same way. Like if I don't get the quiet space and I just go on responsibilities, it ends up in the crash like I've had before, and I don't want to go through those same motions. Like I'm looking at it now. I'm seeing what the universe is putting right in front of me, and I'm gonna fucking listen this time, you know, And who knows where that will lead? Like who knows what opportunities might come in in this open space that we now have, yeah, or what this might become or whatever. Like it's just sort of like we'll see. That's where I feel. And that's a really weird place to be, I think for someone who really likes a plan and to be in control. But you and I are both really trying to like accept this space.
00:16:00
Speaker 2: Well, I mean you are taking control, you know. It's like I think there's two ways that you can look. Yeah, there's two ways that you can look at things like this, moments like this, like every end is the opportunity for a new beginning, and neither of us really know what is next other than the things that are already on our plate in front of us. And it could be a return that looks something similar to this. It might not be, but it's true. Like you know, I've been doing, you know, my real job of working in music, and you know, basically having to handle all the nuts and bolts for the artists that I work with, and it takes an immense amount of concentration and planning and strategy and all of the things. And you know, for Ll in particular, I mean, I work with a lot of amazing artists, but like LL in particular right now is like finishing up what I think is a career defining album and to me to like not have responsibilities outside of making sure that I don't leave a single rock unturned and the launch of this project is important, you know, and it's like it is a gift that like this time is sort of aligning, Like I don't think that I don't think that that's a mistake either. So there will be ways that personally I'll still be injecting myself into the world that people that listeners can enjoy. It might not be my voice, but you certainly don't want to hear me singing on a record, So I don't know. Maybe maybe I'm going to drop my tabe to say, yeah, the real story here is that Kelly and I started a band it Oh my God, because you'll style maybe you'll style it. There you go.
00:17:49
Speaker 1: I do want to like focus on the positives of this podcast, though, because there's been so many, and I wanted to ask you, like, if you had to go back, maybe let's each do two that would be like a good what were your two favorite guest conversations that we had, Things you've learned. I mean, you can take it really wherever you want to go.
00:18:09
Speaker 2: But well, I mean, Susan Bratton will always be one of my favorites. And it's not because of what she talked about. It was about the freedom that came with what she was saying. And I think it is so important, no matter if you're talking about your job, your love life, your sex life, being a parent, whatever it is, that you do it as authentically yourself as possible and keep the blinders on. So that you're not worried about what the people to your right and left are saying, Like you're following your heart in a way that fulfills your life, like that fulfills your desires, and I, you know, like, to me, she is such like a beacon of inspiration because there's something so incredibly authentic and unapologetic about her, and she's taken what she loves and turned it into a business. Like I feel like she is the example of like, if you love what you do, you're never working a day in your life. Yeah, And so I will take her with me wherever I go, like and not in the sexual way, you know.
00:19:13
Speaker 1: But for any listeners who haven't listened to our podcast with Susan Bratton, she's she was on multiple times, but she's a sex expert and I totally agree with you. She was one of the first people who helped me like embrace sexuality as a part, like an integral part of life. And I think a lot of women as we age, specifically like start to realize they're not happy in their sex life. And she took her pain actually of that, Like she almost got divorced because she was like I was with my husband for ten years and he never gave me an orgasm, and I didn't want to have sex anymore, right, And I think there are a million women out there that would relate to that. But so she they didn't get divorced, and they went on an exploration together that then turned into their business, which is helping people really embrace their sexuality in all these different forms, or you know, for women to learn about pleasure and receiving pleasure or receiving in general, what our bodies, how they work. Like She's so just big on even those base they sound like basics, but for a lot of women, like those conversations don't ever happen. We're not talking. It's not discussed the way that like men's sexuality is discussed from such a young age, and she was kind of at the forefront of that, and especially on this podcast, Like yeah, I then ended up having multiple sex experts on but she was just like the one that embraced it first, and she does it from such a fun place, and she's so funny that she's kind of kooky and like out there, but it makes you love her. She didn't feel like you said, she's so unapologetically herself and that was another teaching that she gave. Like I follow her on Instagram and stuff. I fucking love her, Like she just the stuff she puts out there. I'm like, you go, girls.
00:21:02
Speaker 2: She's amazing. And then I think my other like favorite interview, and I still follow this person and I think that her life is really interesting and like if we lived in the same city, I would like we would Melissa Hobbley. Yes, I fucking love her. She's the CEO of Tinder.
00:21:19
Speaker 1: I think when we interviewed her, she was at Bushy at Bumble.
00:21:22
Speaker 2: No, she wasn't at Bumble. It was another one of the dating apps though, and she moved over to Tender. It was okay, keep it, okay, keep it. Yeah, yeah, that's where she was, which, by the way, does that still exist. I don't know, not sure. But she's just rad and I really like her, and I think like she's an inspiring woman that has a great point of view, and so I really enjoyed Like she has stuck with me too, Like I feel like we're friends, even though we've only had a couple of conversations in our whole but we you know, sometimes we'll message back.
00:21:53
Speaker 1: I had like an instant click I felt it. Yeah, yeah, I agree. I mean Susan was going to be one of mine. Just with you, it's so hard, Like I totally get why songwriters now can't pick, because I'm like, oh, I can't pick. These are like my baby one.
00:22:07
Speaker 2: You've got twice as many.
00:22:08
Speaker 1: Right, I have so many and I really can't pick. But like with you, definitely the Susan Bratton conversations, those were really interesting. And then yeah, I've been so lucky because this podcast has brought me in connection with people who I never would have been able to connect with otherwise, like psychic John Edward, Like when would I ever get to meet him? And he's obviously someone I respect so much. I've read all his books, Like I just really appreciate how he operates in the psychic world, and obviously he's insanely psychic, like it's wild.
00:22:41
Speaker 2: So yeah, I tell you that we would go on hiatus.
00:22:44
Speaker 1: He did not, but you know, maybe I should ask him because now I have a relationship with him, and I'm just like, what in the world, Like, I've just gotten to meet so many cool people through this podcast. You said this was kind of like therapy for you, So I'm curious like, and what do you mean by that? What did it teach you?
00:23:02
Speaker 2: I mean, it just taught me to like not be scared of my thoughts and feelings. You have to be really vulnerable to sit in front of a microphone and say some of your deepest thoughts. And you know, there were times where I would talk about my struggle with my weight, or my struggle with my sexuality, or my struggle with my family or words can be really scary, but I think there's so much scarier when they're bottled up and not used, because there have been moments like and I don't know that I can bring a specific example, because a lot of times I'm just talking, like you know, I'm not really thinking about what I'm saying. I'm just talking. And that's a testament to you because you make me comfortable enough to do that. But there have definitely been moments where it's like things have come out of my mouth that I wasn't expecting to say, or even say publicly, or admit or whatever. And there's a lot of power in that because sometimes those words hold you back if you don't say them, because it's a thought loop that you're defining yourself by and no one else is thinking it about you. So if you're able to say it and you're like you'll look at me and be like, I didn't know that, Like what are you talking about? Like, yeah, suddenly it's something that I can work through. And I think like that is also the job of a therapist. A therapist isn't like their job isn't to tell you what's wrong and give you the steps to fix it. It's for them to like almost be a mirror for like what you say, to bounce all and you work through it. So it's just taught me that, like you know, words are meant to be spoken, they're not meant to like just sort of bounce around in your brain and calls you to be on a like constant, weird feedback loop about yourself, like get the shit out and grow and change. And I think that I've done that through this process, whether I was realizing it was happening it or not, or whether that was why I did it in the first place, Like I think I just did it to have fun, and then there were all these amazing benefits that came with it. Yeah.
00:25:06
Speaker 1: Yeah, it's interesting because what you're describing is something that I think I've done in my life for a long period of time. Like I try to do that with y'all, and like with my friends, like we're having you know, I'm always the one that's like, she's, yeah, well that's what the joke is, like, Oh, don't do surface, you know whatever. Obviously I can do surface too, and like just go have fun in places. But if you now just find me in life in like a party, I'm probably in a corner with one person having some sort of deep chat. That's the thing that lights me up. And I didn't really fully accept that about myself, I think in my younger days. And so I was trying on all these different you know things you just do Partie Kelly well and just see what works. You just kind of go through phases where you're like, what who am I? You know, And we've been on this journey together doing that for a really long time, and through this podcast, I've gone, Okay, you really like to deeply connect with people and like that have the conversations. I'm not scared to say what's happening inside or the weird And I didn't realize like that is scary for a lot of people. So holding space and being open to other people's fear of it and just like talking kindly or whatever has been such a cool thing. Like it's been amazing to connect with people that way. And honestly, when I was thinking about this hiatus, I was like, well, I'm gonna have to really like work on that finding places to get that need met for me in other parts of my life, because I do. It really does fuel me, like to go deep with people and to have real chats where people are expressing their true feelings and like what they're struggling with or whatever. Like I love that and I'm curious as a person too, So I've learned those things about myself as like just I used to think everyone thought that way, and then I'm like, oh no they don't. So you know, you want to integrate that into your life and go what can I do used this for? And like how can I use this in my relationships? How can I use this in my job? And this podcast has really taught me some different ways to do that, So I don't know, I mean, this might go away for like a week and I'm like, I don't know, I need to like talk to somebody.
00:27:15
Speaker 2: The shortest hiatus in the history of podcasting. Oh wait, one other thing that, like one other memory that just popped in was remember our listener when we used to have that girl, Brittany, Brittany.
00:27:25
Speaker 3: How come Britney is amazing? Brittany still listening? Shout out to Brittany, what was the story? Look at you get if you're watching on YouTube, you saw that. But Chip did like a peace sign and it brought up these like celebration balloons on the zoom for Brittany. But I just remember Brittany went to the dentist and had some weird oh.
00:27:48
Speaker 1: Second dick and he asked her he could tell or he told her he could tell that she had had some sexual escapades, yeah recently or something, and it was like it was like a childhood friend of her parents or something. This is not a real story. And then she came on the podcast and told it. It was amazing. So anyway, we've I mean, we've definitely gone through so many transitions like that and just like being a little more edgy or whatever and then being like, Okay, we're getting old. Is that cute anymore? I have realized too having a platform like this, like people from Germany will message me and telling me how you know, one interview really impacted them, and it's such an interesting thing. Now with these are the benefits we've talked about with social media, Like we hate on social media a lot, but with these platforms or with a podcast or with you know, a big Instagram or whatever you want to talk about, it's like you're connecting with people around the world. Like when would I ever have even met people from different dates? A lot of these people, you know, like we used to live in these such these small little bubbles, and now we get access to having a conversation with people around the world. And I just so, I don't know, I just appreciate every listener who's ever listened to a podcast, every person that's ever reached out and connected with us because of that, because they're listening, because we have this common bond. Like I think that's one of the things I always wanted to bring with these conversations, was going, we're all not like we're all the same, none of us we're not that different. We all have differences, but at the end of the day, it really comes down to like we are way more connected than we ever would think, and that's so important. I think as a human to realize as you're not this like there's no terminal uniqueness in this world, Like you're not worse off than all these other people and you're not better than them. Like we're all really connected if we allow ourselves to be, and I think that's such a beautiful concept. And be having access to people around the world because of this has really really reiterated that to me of just like, oh my god, literally someone with such a different life story than me, that lives genuinely across the world is relating to what I'm saying because they're going through a breakup too, where they're going through this too, you know. Like I just find that to be such a cool thing that we've gotten because of our listeners and because of people who've stayed connected with us and told us their stories too, Like us sharing opened up them sharing with us, And so that is something I'll truly truly miss. We may just have to find a different way to do it.
00:30:36
Speaker 2: Well, it's not lost on me that, Like, you know, I know you brought up how we hate on social media, Like social media is obviously a great way to connect with people around the world too, but you're doing it in bite sized chunks. Like we've asked our listeners to come on every week and listen to us talk for an hour or so, you know what I mean. It's like not a small investment, right, and that's not lost on me. That's a lot of time, Like as much time as it takes us to record, it takes you all to listen to this, and that is just proof that we are all looking to connect. That you know, our struggles are real and similar, no matter what our background is, what our heritage is, where we live in the world, it's all about just this sort of human existence. And you know, I don't know that I have a whole I really have a whole lot more to say, which is makes this like sort of timing feel really sort of spiritually placed, you know, like it's kiss me yeah. And also the opportunity that putting this sing on pause. It's also a gift to ourselves that we were giving. And it's important to be selfish sometimes and do what you need to do. And I think that's a there's a beautiful lesson in that too. It's like you know they always say, like go out on a high note. Yeah, isn't it amazing that like we got to choose that like nobody's firing us, no one, no one.
00:31:59
Speaker 1: That is, it's kind of the point, right, Like I literally would never have done this in the past. I have. I've always waited, like I used to be like this in relationship even and it's like until something terrible would happen, I wouldn't leave the relationship even though I was so unhappy. And I'm not unhappy doing this. So that's not the full perfect example, but I just am being realistic about our availability right now and what is right in front of me being presented too. And I think it's the same for you. And I think there's some beauty. And we've talked about this on this podcast before in knowing that things have seasons and like accepting that about life, Like I used to always say this about relationship. I don't know if you guys remember this, but it's just like just because a relationship ends doesn't mean it wasn't successful. Like I've truly changed my mentality. I used to think, you meet a person, you have this perfect relationship, and you get married, and if you break up, are you in the relationship? That means it was a loss all that time, all that invested energy, all that, you know, whatever you went through with them, it was just it's a waste, it's a loss, And I'd so see it differently now because I'm like, even some of my worst relationships have been my biggest teachers, So they weren't a loss because they've been like a building block for me personally of growth, and like who I've become has evolved because of those relationships. I couldn't have gotten to the next stage if I hadn't gone through such hardship with some of them.
00:33:29
Speaker 2: Yeah, you wouldn't be where you are today without your past.
00:33:31
Speaker 1: Right, And so like with this podcast, I'm going, Okay, like we're facing this moment right now where we could keep doing this and dialing it in and doing favorite episodes. If we can't get together and record, or if I can't record with a guest or anything like that, we could do that, but I don't. I just I value what we've built here so much more than that, if that makes sense, And like, I just really feel like this has been a space for an open home art and if I can't show up fully there, I don't. I don't know. It doesn't feel like it doesn't feel right to.
00:34:07
Speaker 2: Me's not fair to anybody.
00:34:08
Speaker 1: Yeah, and I'm just like I'm just leaving that ope, Like I'm just accepting that versus fighting it, like I said, going kicking and screaming to the universe like no, no, no, I've done this for eight years. We've built this amazing thing. I'm not gonna walk away. It's like, Okay, I think this is time for me to go. Wait, have we done what we needed to do? Have we like built the thing and we need to stay open to what the next thing is or you know, I don't know. I truly don't have the answer to what this hiatus fully is because the universe hasn't shown me yet. But I know it's pushing me to do this, so like I'm just gonna accept that and it can feel more like a beautiful thing.
00:34:49
Speaker 2: I think it's empowering, you know. It's like what do you want to wait till like this art calls and says we're not doing this with you anymore, and then you're like, wait, what the rug's been out from under you? Right? I mean? I like, I think some of my favorite musicians of all time they know when to they know when to not brought up at gel. Yeah, they know when to not write songs, like at a certain point, like you've said what you needed to say, and that will exist forever. These episodes will exist forever, and we're not just gonna fill the the next two hundred episodes with a bunch of fucking hot air just to do it.
00:35:28
Speaker 1: And well, that's what I think our society we've in the past, like however many years if you want to call, I think it's been decades, but we've become so committed to building businesses and everyone having like you know, now everyone's an entrepreneur, they build an online business, or they do whatever, and it's so oversaturated and it's such a like grind. And I was telling you some of the things that I was being asked to do because of the algorithm, and I'm like, I don't want to fucking chase this, Like that is not why I started this. That is not what this is. That is not what I want it to be. And if I'm only focusing on chasing the money or the growth because it would bring more money, then it's not what it is like, right, It's like if the money comes, great, if if you know, we've always made money from this podcast just and people know that. But like we know that there's ads that run you know that we're this is like a business. And also it has meant too much to my heart to be treated that way, right, and I just respect it too much. I hope that people maybe we have a shift in all the creative worlds anyway, because it's just so much chasing right now, and you see it in the music business, like we see it all the time, and I just don't have that in me, and I don't. I'm kind of tired of us all feeling so responsible to operate that way, Like, obviously you've got to pay your bills, but where's the passion, where's the creativity?
00:36:54
Speaker 2: Where's never hear the word algorithm again? Oh?
00:36:56
Speaker 1: I would right.
00:36:58
Speaker 2: I want to be a drag queen named al Garythm.
00:37:01
Speaker 1: You and your drag names, please add that that have.
00:37:04
Speaker 2: To be a drag king al Garithm. That could be algorithm al Algorithm.
00:37:12
Speaker 1: Oh my god, it's such a good drag name, it really is. I forgot about you creating all these drag names. Yeah, But anyway, all of that to say, like I genuinely miss the days where you would go post like what was inspiring you on Instagram, and I feel that way about podcasts. I'm like, everyone has a podcast now and everyone is a lot of people are booking the same guest, and like, you know, I'm a fucking four on the Inteagram, I can't be doing the same thing that ever let's do right, right, So anyway, we're just kind of at that space and we first and foremost want you guys all to know how much we have valued you listening and you connecting with us. This has felt like a big group of people just talking about things that they're going through and we're going to go live some life. Like you said, I don't have anything else to say. It's like, well, because you need to go live, and then who knows what you'll want to talk about? List of things and you can always like it's you. You brought this up earlier, like subscribing would be a way if we do another podcast, you'll get a notification, So obviously make sure to subscribe if you're not already and you're listening. But chip, do you have any like closing remarks.
00:38:24
Speaker 2: Like I didn't want this to turn into like a very special episode of Blossom, you know, but for those of you who are in our age bracket. Yeah, I mean I think, like, love your neighbors, be kind, laugh, have sex, and live, like do all the things, and that's what I plan on doing. You know, some more than others. But yeah, I'm like, I.
00:38:50
Speaker 1: Just wish one which more than that, I don't know.
00:38:52
Speaker 2: I mean, I wish the sex was the number one, but like I will promise that. I think my number one would be kindness, like that is my modest opera and die for everything. And yeah, even if I'm making fun of you, it's coming from a place of kindness. Yeah. I just think it's like the moral of this story here, if this becomes the end, is that we all have the power to make our lives and those around us better through kindness and love and seeking. And we're freeing up a couple of hours of your week go do those things.
00:39:30
Speaker 1: Or you can go listen to old episodes.
00:39:32
Speaker 2: Or yeah, if you need to hear our voices. It's not like I have a post on Instagram, but you can follow us too. But I'm really bad about that.
00:39:42
Speaker 1: I'm so emotional.
00:39:45
Speaker 2: Kelly's voice was cracking when we got when we first got on, and I was like, are you crying already and she's like, no, what's my allergies on it?
00:39:52
Speaker 1: Really, it wasn't that at first, and now it is. It's like, it's such a weird thing because you have to realize how often I'm doing this, Like this is truly every week for two times a week. You know, it's such a big part of my life.
00:40:06
Speaker 2: What are you gonna do with that big feather thing behind you? You turn it into the world's biggest duster.
00:40:15
Speaker 1: I know, what will this little space become. I'm gonna leave it. It's just gonna be the space I think. But yeah, it's I'm not like sad, like I'm not like, oh, I'm just it's a it's a change of you know, it's a season of life, and a chapter is closing. Regardless of if we ever come back or not, this season is closing. And yeah, I think there's so much beauty in that. And one of the things I was thinking as you were talking was like, Okay, one of what I would say to listeners is be present in your life, like focus on like actually being present, because I feel so often right now like we're just not present and so we can't even have gratitude because you're missing all the things you have to be grateful for, you know. And I think that's like one of the big messages for myself right now is and what kind of brought on this whole thing was thinking, like, God, I'm so excited about these opportunities, Like I have been loving life this year, like truly, truly, truly, I feel very very happy and just content, and like I feel excited, like a fire has been lit under my ass again and I haven't felt that in a really long time, and so I don't want to miss it, you know, Like I really just don't want to miss it. And I think we talk about that a lot on this podcast, and so it's just about that moment for us and just integrating into life, but also like never stopping the learning and the growth and that's always there, and just letting life be your teacher and knowing it can look like whatever it's going to look like, Like your life is your life, and it doesn't need to look like everyone else's and it doesn't need to look by the book. If you listen to your gut, you'll know where to go. And that's just what we're doing. So yeah, that's my encouragement to everyone else out there, but you can alway stay in touch with us because we can't just not have opportunities to chat with you guys. I truly feel like some of our listeners have become like family, Like I talk to them basically every week and my DMS or something, you know, just like diving back and forth between our stories and what we were connecting with. So please keep doing that, like just I don't know, talk to me about what's going on in your life. I love it. I need to find people to connect with if I'm not going to be doing this, so I'm always open for the deep chat. Probably Instagram is the best place to find me, and it's at Velvet's Edge. I post a lot of my styling and grooming work, so that's what I'm focused on right now. But I'm always in the DMS and wanting to chat with you guys.
00:42:43
Speaker 2: It hit the stalls. That's not what she's looking for.
00:42:47
Speaker 1: I'm not looking for any nuds. But I actually think most of our people are women, so I'm not sure they're wanting me to see that anyway.
00:42:55
Speaker 2: I mean, now, don't you do talk.
00:42:58
Speaker 1: A lot about liking vagina, So.
00:43:01
Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm gonna go. I'm gonna go on the search for the next perfect badge.
00:43:06
Speaker 1: You start a reality show, all right, Chip, Where can people find you?
00:43:11
Speaker 2: It's probably best on Instagram as well. I'm at Chip doorsh. It's h I P D O R S c H.
00:43:18
Speaker 1: Oh my god, I'm gonna miss that. I'm gonna make you do it, like when we're out at a restaurant next, Oh, can you do your order and you're like okay, and I'll have the chicken and my name is Hi D R S H. Oh my god. Okay. Well, for the final time, as you guys go into the weekend and you're living on the edge, I hope you guys remember to at casual.
00:43:40
Speaker 2: Bye bye
