ABOUT THIS EPISODE
Did you know a single liter of bottled water can contain up to 700,000 microscopic pieces of plastic? …We looked into it. 💧
Welcome to Valid Source? The podcast where we investigate the internet myths, viral claims, and trending gossip you've been thinking about but haven't had time to research. We're not experts. We're just two friends willing to do the extra digging.
This episode: it's Ashley and Harley's first-ever virtual recording, complete with Harley nursing a camshaft-sensor repair and Ashley clutching her inhaler mid-conversation right as a national asthma warning drops.
Then Ashley finally has to admit Harley was right, she set out to prove her wrong about plastic water bottles and ended up down a full microplastics rabbit hole instead. They break down a wild new laser-tech study on exactly how much plastic is in a bottle of water, why tap water beats bottled by a landslide, how microplastics are turning up in the air we breathe and the clothes on our backs, and why a $1,500 crystal water bottle still isn't solving the actual problem.
Then it's on to the gossip: Dakota Johnson and Machine Gun Kelly's private hang at Taylor Swift's place, a Secret Lives cliffhanger, and the very complicated, very online Lindsay Clancy case.
Valid Source? verdict on plastic water bottles: worse than we thought, impossible to fully escape, and yes, Harley was right all along.
Content Warning: This episode briefly discusses a criminal case involving the deaths of children and mentions self-harm risk.
