ABOUT THIS EPISODE
Every town has its own list of celebrities it cherishes and celebrates. Thus, we would think that Jesus – the greatest man who ever lived - would be a venerated figure in his hometown of Nazareth. Yet, we see the opposite. Jesus is rejected at Nazareth as a prophet without honour. Why would Jesus’ own kinsmen reject him? Why would his own hometown refuse to recognise one of their own as the Christ? And what can we learn from this for our own lives?
This sermon was preached by Rev Christopher Poshin David on August 9, 2026, at Trinity Presbyterian Church, Chennai.
Series: The Servant King, on the Gospel of Mark
In a world that prizes power, prestige and self-promotion, the Gospel of Mark gives us a portrait of a King who kneels to serve, who rules through sacrifice and who conquers not by the steel of the sword but by his love.
