ABOUT THIS EPISODE
What does it take to bring a creative vision to life when the journey takes more than a decade?
In this episode of Just Count Me In, I speak with Sharron Rose, an independent filmmaker, author, and Qigong practitioner whose award-winning film 'Quantum Chi" has received recognition internationally.
Sharron shares the story behind creating and funding her film independently over more than ten years—a journey that speaks to persistence, conviction, and the commitment to bringing a vision into the world.
We also explore a more practical question: How can we make a little space for ourselves amid the demands of everyday life?
Sharon introduces Qi-gong, a practice combining gentle movement, breathing, and attention, and walks us through a simple exercise you can try yourself. No previous experience or special equipment is required.

00:00:00.320 --> 00:00:04.320
Welcome and welcome to Just Count Me In, Transform Your Life.
00:00:04.400 --> 00:00:05.519
I'm Sari Stone.
00:00:05.679 --> 00:00:06.240
I'm your host.
00:00:06.320 --> 00:00:09.919
If you're joining us for the first time, you are in for such a treat today.
00:00:10.080 --> 00:00:16.000
And if you're returning, you're going to learn something that you'll probably take with you and it might very well change your life.
00:00:16.239 --> 00:00:24.239
Today we have a guest, a very special person, a friend of mine who, a new friend who I absolutely loved as soon as I met her.
00:00:24.480 --> 00:00:26.239
I think maybe we're related.
00:00:26.480 --> 00:00:29.440
And her name is Sharon Rose.
00:00:30.160 --> 00:00:49.679
And she is living evidence of the fact of the way that when we stop waiting for things to happen in a certain way in our lives, and we stop waiting for permission and we really want to do something, we go ahead and take it by the reins and do it.
00:00:49.840 --> 00:00:51.920
She is living proof that this happens.
00:00:52.719 --> 00:00:53.759
This is your girl.
00:00:53.840 --> 00:01:11.439
So if you've ever felt called to do something different than you're doing, beating to a different drum, wondered how to find your own path, or maybe just wanted to feel more connected to your authentic self and not wait for somebody's permission to say, yeah, okay, I'll back this.
00:01:11.680 --> 00:01:12.400
This is it.
00:01:12.560 --> 00:01:18.560
So Sharon is a filmmaker and author, and her film is currently winning awards.
00:01:18.799 --> 00:01:24.159
Um her conversation goes way beyond filmmaking or qi gong, which is what it's about.
00:01:24.319 --> 00:01:26.159
We're going to go get into that also.
00:01:26.560 --> 00:01:34.879
We're exploring what it means because she followed her own path, and that's why she's on this podcast, because she's a shining a light for others.
00:01:35.120 --> 00:01:50.799
And then in this episode, I'm hoping that you're gonna get a fresh perspective on how you can listen to yourself more deeply, trust in the voice that you know, trust in your truth, and explore some possibilities for your own life.
00:01:51.040 --> 00:01:54.799
Maybe leave the fear behind and just try.
00:01:55.040 --> 00:01:58.000
So, Sharon, I do want to welcome you and I want to thank you.
00:01:58.159 --> 00:02:01.760
I can't even, we'd have to do a whole episode on how busy you are right now.
00:02:01.840 --> 00:02:09.039
So I'm not even gonna go there, but just for the audience, uh, I get a little snippet of it once in a while from her, and I can't even imagine.
00:02:09.199 --> 00:02:13.360
So, anyway, thank you, thank you, thank you for coming and making time.
00:02:13.759 --> 00:02:19.520
I guess being famous is busy, busy.
00:02:20.000 --> 00:02:30.560
So we're really excited for you to share what shaped your life, how you did it, and how you stepped into your life and decided to do what you do.
00:02:31.039 --> 00:02:34.240
So why don't you tell us a little bit about yourself?
00:02:36.800 --> 00:02:38.479
It's a bit of a story.
00:02:39.840 --> 00:02:42.080
I because I have never stopped.
00:02:42.240 --> 00:02:49.599
I've never stopped learning, I'm I've never stopped creating and looking and feeling inspiration.
00:02:49.680 --> 00:02:53.520
It's not just looking outside, but from deep inside.
00:02:54.000 --> 00:02:58.319
I I was born into a family in Baltimore.
00:02:58.479 --> 00:03:03.439
My mother went to college at 14 and also was a tap dancer.
00:03:03.599 --> 00:03:14.400
Her dream for me, as you know, we are the products in many ways of our parents' visions for us, uh, was to go to Broadway, to be a Broadway star.
00:03:14.560 --> 00:03:15.840
That was her dream.
00:03:16.080 --> 00:03:19.280
She taught me to dance immediately, like at nine months old.
00:03:19.439 --> 00:03:23.280
And then at three sent me to ballet, then singing lessons.
00:03:23.360 --> 00:03:34.159
I was performing in what was called nursing homes and hospitals at five years old, and then acting lessons and all of that.
00:03:34.400 --> 00:03:36.560
Uh, that was an amazing beginning.
00:03:36.639 --> 00:03:54.560
And and what has been a thread through all my research and endeavors is work with energy, understanding energy and how it moves and how it can moves between people, and particularly emotional energy.
00:03:54.879 --> 00:03:58.719
In theater, we really worked with the emotions.
00:03:59.039 --> 00:04:32.480
And when I got to graduate school, my thesis, I'd been studying uh the work of uh Wilhelm Reich and Alexander Lowen, who were really looking at the the emotional body, what we call the emotional body, and the impact of our emotions and our thoughts on how we hold ourselves, how we express, and uh something that I've been really looking at for years and years, which I call holding patterns.
00:04:32.720 --> 00:04:33.199
Yes.
00:04:33.439 --> 00:04:38.000
And so any of you think about this.
00:04:38.160 --> 00:04:49.839
If you're meditating, right, you're sitting there and you're and then you're and you're all calm, and then the thoughts start coming in and you get nervous about something, your body will like reflect that.
00:04:50.879 --> 00:04:55.759
So I've been looking at how do we totally relax.
00:04:57.040 --> 00:05:11.360
Now, in addition, so that's been a thread, but in addition, I've been a dancer, choreographer, composer for many, many years and producer.
00:05:11.680 --> 00:05:22.879
And the big shift, you know, I was in college in 66, and and it was all the feminist movement, and oh yeah, I was like, you know, we're gonna be.
00:05:23.040 --> 00:05:49.839
But I didn't really learn about being a woman, the beauty, until I had a fellowship from the American Institute of Indian Studies and a Fulbright Senior Research Fellowship to travel to India and live with an early Bollywood star who was the queen of North Indian classical dance, which is a tradition that goes back thousands of years, that has been continuously nourished.
00:05:50.160 --> 00:05:53.920
Finding your original energetic blueprint.
00:05:54.160 --> 00:05:54.319
Yes.
00:05:54.720 --> 00:05:59.360
What did you come in here to do before the conditioning?
00:05:59.759 --> 00:06:00.399
Yes.
00:06:01.360 --> 00:06:12.560
Exactly, before everything gets put on you, before you start performing and acting, the you know, with what gets the results and the reactions you want around you, just who are you before you are you?
00:06:13.199 --> 00:06:22.480
And through all these years, more and more, I'm really coming back to that.
00:06:23.920 --> 00:06:28.879
I learned all of the subtleties of being feminine.
00:06:29.199 --> 00:06:36.879
I came back and was teaching and was performing, and then I trained in many different dance forms.
00:06:37.360 --> 00:06:41.519
What do we have in common as human beings?
00:06:41.759 --> 00:07:00.480
And how can we really understand and appreciate those common threads rather than these days particularly, but it's been going on for a long time, seeing the other person as other, as different, as you know, fearing them.
00:07:00.639 --> 00:07:08.959
Where my all of my work is really about this, about helping people to heal.
00:07:09.199 --> 00:07:24.560
What I want to do, what I'm helping to do, especially with the Qigong practice, is it's the most amazing practice, actually, that I found for working with letting go.
00:07:24.879 --> 00:07:31.360
Basically, what I hear you tell me is that you're trying to help people find their truth.
00:07:31.519 --> 00:07:34.240
You're trying to help people find their way home.
00:07:34.399 --> 00:07:38.959
Some people's way home might be Buddhist, some people's way home might be Christian or Jewish.
00:07:39.199 --> 00:07:43.279
It's it's just their own personal, but it's all the same home.
00:07:43.920 --> 00:07:44.879
That's right, the source.
00:07:45.040 --> 00:07:49.759
And that you use the you're using the body because we are energetic beings.
00:07:49.920 --> 00:07:59.120
You're using the body and the energy systems, and through that you've gotten trained and become a practitioner and had the experiences of this.
00:07:59.439 --> 00:08:02.319
So we are definitely going to get into the qi gong.
00:08:02.399 --> 00:08:20.319
I am getting into who the person is that brought all this about because that's what I want you to share with the world more than anything, and then we'll share what it is, but it wouldn't be what it is to me if I hadn't been introduced to it through you.
00:08:20.560 --> 00:08:21.360
Oh, thank you.
00:08:21.519 --> 00:08:26.560
I've been I've been around a while and I've been introduced to a lot of things, so that's a compliment.
00:08:26.720 --> 00:08:30.399
Um, yeah, so I definitely want people to get a taste of.
00:08:30.639 --> 00:08:36.480
So, what do people need to pay attention to so that they can keep connecting?
00:08:36.879 --> 00:08:42.399
So, if you're a person out there that feels like you she's saying, sit for a minute and be quiet.
00:08:42.559 --> 00:08:44.879
I can't get my mind to be quiet for five minutes.
00:08:45.039 --> 00:08:47.440
They're saying, What can you recommend?
00:08:47.600 --> 00:08:59.840
They've got kids, they've got a dog, they're not going to wake up and sit in meditation, just as you had stages as a householder, you have a son where you did not just get up always, maybe, and have the opportunity to pop into meditation.
00:09:00.320 --> 00:09:02.720
So, so, or a baby needs breakfast.
00:09:02.799 --> 00:09:10.480
So, I mean, what can a person who has other people making demands on them when they first get up?
00:09:10.799 --> 00:09:12.720
How can they integrate this?
00:09:13.759 --> 00:09:33.360
The first thing to do in the morning is to take some deep breaths, feel your feet on the earth, come into your body, feel what's going on in your body, let your shoulders relax.
00:09:34.799 --> 00:09:42.000
Let your just breathe and relax and find that center of your being.
00:09:43.759 --> 00:10:05.519
And to one of the techniques that I learned through the Tibetan system, which exists in in many ways in many systems, is that imagine that in this in your heart there's this light, this beautiful light that represents the essence of who you are.
00:10:06.480 --> 00:10:09.840
And as and and feel that light and see that light.
00:10:10.000 --> 00:10:21.679
And as you go through the day and you're all scattered and having to focus and being tense and all that, just remember to come back and find that.
00:10:21.919 --> 00:10:23.519
That light's very simple.
00:10:23.919 --> 00:10:28.480
And I think that probably took about 60 seconds, if that, I think probably 30.
00:10:28.559 --> 00:10:38.720
So, in the time that I could get up, get out of bed, get myself ready to go pick a kid up out of the crib or get start waking one up or whatever.
00:10:38.879 --> 00:10:41.120
I could take a minute and do that.
00:10:41.279 --> 00:10:44.799
I could take a minute and do that as I brush my teeth.
00:10:44.960 --> 00:10:57.039
I could take a minute and do that, just taking a minute and drinking my tea while somebody is there, even if I need to, and just take a minute to check in with me with myself.
00:10:57.279 --> 00:10:59.840
Just be aware of what you're doing.
00:11:00.000 --> 00:11:02.960
If you're going, your child is crying, right?
00:11:03.440 --> 00:11:08.639
You go there and calm yourself first.
00:11:09.600 --> 00:11:31.039
And then you feel the the and you and you transmit that calm to the child and to everyone around you, constantly looking for that fluid, calm, centered place, and allowing, yeah, thoughts will arise.
00:11:31.120 --> 00:11:36.639
That's a natural part of being human, but don't get attached to them.
00:11:37.279 --> 00:11:38.799
Oh, that's a thought.
00:11:39.120 --> 00:11:39.440
Okay.
00:11:40.320 --> 00:11:48.320
You know, oh, you know, I'm I'm I I feel that I'm getting, you know, what's the word they use, triggered, right?
00:11:48.960 --> 00:11:51.200
Recognize it and let it go.
00:11:51.519 --> 00:11:52.399
It's not easy.
00:11:52.480 --> 00:11:55.759
I've been working on it for many, many, many years.
00:11:56.080 --> 00:12:03.279
And really, it's through the Qigong practice that I have come to a whole new understanding.
00:12:04.879 --> 00:12:14.399
And for those people who don't know what Qigong is, could you give a brief little explanation of that?
00:12:14.559 --> 00:12:23.279
Because I also want them to know that your journey here is so inspiring.
00:12:23.840 --> 00:12:26.480
And you've helped so many people.
00:12:26.960 --> 00:12:28.320
I guess let me back up.
00:12:28.799 --> 00:12:30.320
Why are you here?
00:12:31.360 --> 00:12:33.919
Like, why do you think you came in?
00:12:35.039 --> 00:12:37.440
I came in to help people heal.
00:12:38.000 --> 00:12:38.799
There you go.
00:12:39.200 --> 00:12:43.279
Really, it's through and it's through the art.
00:12:44.000 --> 00:12:45.519
That's my vehicle.
00:12:46.159 --> 00:12:47.679
That's my vehicle.
00:12:48.000 --> 00:12:57.360
I and it's only been, you know, since this movie that I've really understood that.
00:12:58.720 --> 00:12:59.360
Wow.
00:13:00.159 --> 00:13:20.399
It's it's uh at this age I am it's an integration, the movie and the music with it and the teachings represent in many ways an integration of all the trainings and experiences I've had in this life and probably in other lives, if we go there.
00:13:21.039 --> 00:13:31.279
You know, why why do we have an affinity for things that why did I, this Jewish girl from Baltimore, end up in India?
00:13:32.399 --> 00:13:34.879
How why am I dealing with China?
00:13:36.159 --> 00:13:46.320
Right, really, and and so it's how how how do I express this?
00:13:47.440 --> 00:14:00.080
The as I look around, and I'm very aware because I've dealt, I've lived in India, I've been all over the place, all over the world, and I'm very aware of the discord and suffering.
00:14:00.559 --> 00:14:06.240
Wherever I go, I I want to just see the beauty of everyone and the cultures.
00:14:07.039 --> 00:14:14.480
And you have such calm, beautiful, healing energy.
00:14:14.879 --> 00:14:27.519
I mean, to be honest, we've had a morning here with the electricity going on and the generator, and I thought, okay, if it was anybody but Sharon, I don't think I would have done this interview today because it was a little scattered here.
00:14:27.759 --> 00:14:31.600
And just hearing your voice, it was like, oh, it's Sharon.
00:14:31.759 --> 00:14:33.759
You have that effect on people.
00:14:34.000 --> 00:14:39.039
You've embodied it, even though you're in the midst of quite a bit with the movie.
00:14:39.279 --> 00:14:40.240
Just a little.
00:14:41.120 --> 00:14:48.480
Well, we were it's an interesting thought because I was with my massage therapist yesterday.
00:14:48.720 --> 00:14:55.200
And with all of this going on, we're launching the film right now for the for community.
00:14:55.360 --> 00:15:00.879
We're not putting it on Amazon or any of these places yet, because we really want to.
00:15:01.039 --> 00:15:08.879
I use the words engage, enrich, and empower the healing, not only the qigong, tai chi, acupuncture, etc.
00:15:09.279 --> 00:15:16.559
community, but all everyone to help them enrich, particularly.
00:15:16.720 --> 00:15:23.279
So because COVID really had did a number on everybody in terms of getting together in person.
00:15:23.440 --> 00:15:38.559
So we found this site, this platform, which allows us to have really easily for people to host community screenings, whether it's in person, whether it's virtual, or both.
00:15:38.960 --> 00:15:44.159
And so anyone can do that.
00:15:44.480 --> 00:15:48.879
And we want to really, really bring the community together.
00:15:48.960 --> 00:16:23.919
And we also encourage people to have um after they see the movie uh to do a practice, teach a practice, whether it's qigong or tai qi or meditation or any kind of self-healing practice, because the beauty of qigong and these practices is that they have a deep self-healing practice so that you can bring your healing into your own hands, not always looking outside.
00:16:24.320 --> 00:16:48.159
And they bring you way more awareness of your body and your emotions and your thoughts and your spirit, and how to integrate all of that and bring it back to that original blueprint that you came into this world with and to refin, refine and refined.
00:16:49.679 --> 00:16:50.080
Yeah.
00:16:50.720 --> 00:16:52.480
So it's remembering, not learning.
00:16:53.519 --> 00:16:54.799
Yeah, it's there.
00:16:55.200 --> 00:17:01.279
We you know, when we come in, we forget, and then we go through all these experiences of learning.
00:17:01.519 --> 00:17:01.759
Right.
00:17:02.320 --> 00:17:07.039
Every I have found like I was in a car accident recently.
00:17:07.119 --> 00:17:18.960
A guy came and just went crazy and hit my car, and I went down a ravine, and it was, but instead of, and it really affected my nervous system, I wasn't injured outwardly.
00:17:19.599 --> 00:17:29.599
Uh, but instead of seeing it as oh, right, it was it was an opportunity for me to heal on a whole new level.
00:17:29.839 --> 00:17:35.839
Now I was fortunate in that the insurance company, the the woman said, Are you okay?
00:17:36.000 --> 00:17:37.599
You know, do you need to see anyone?
00:17:37.759 --> 00:17:39.440
I said, Well, I'm physically okay.
00:17:39.519 --> 00:17:41.119
My nervous system is shook up.
00:17:41.279 --> 00:17:46.400
She said, Oh, well, we pay for acupuncture and massage and all this.
00:17:46.960 --> 00:17:49.680
And so it's been what a blessing.
00:17:50.000 --> 00:17:50.400
Yes.
00:17:50.640 --> 00:17:51.279
What a bless.
00:17:51.599 --> 00:17:59.599
So instead of, you know, the victim mentality that's around these days, it's completely different.
00:17:59.839 --> 00:18:05.599
Every challenge is an opportunity always for growth and learning.
00:18:05.839 --> 00:18:06.400
I believe it.
00:18:06.640 --> 00:18:09.039
I totally it's an opportunity for expansion.
00:18:09.680 --> 00:18:11.519
An opportunity for expansion.
00:18:11.839 --> 00:18:23.359
So if somebody has no idea what qi gong is, and they just have they just need to know a little bit about what it is.
00:18:24.400 --> 00:18:26.319
How could you explain that?
00:18:26.480 --> 00:18:33.039
And could you maybe show them maybe one or two minutes of what it might be?
00:18:33.359 --> 00:18:33.599
Yeah.
00:18:33.920 --> 00:18:34.240
Okay.
00:18:35.039 --> 00:18:38.319
Qi, the word qi in India it's a prana.
00:18:39.039 --> 00:18:41.839
In in the Jewish tradition is ruach.
00:18:42.240 --> 00:18:46.559
You know, in ancient Egypt it's called sa, it's life force energy.
00:18:47.039 --> 00:18:51.519
And the first way to feel it, all gong meets work.
00:18:52.160 --> 00:18:55.759
So it's working with the life force energy.
00:18:56.079 --> 00:18:56.559
Right.
00:18:57.279 --> 00:19:01.119
The the easiest way to feel it, this is from Mr.
00:19:01.519 --> 00:19:06.960
Master Montak Chi, um, is that you clap your hands together and you rub them.
00:19:09.599 --> 00:19:10.640
Feel that heat.
00:19:11.039 --> 00:19:11.359
Yeah.
00:19:11.519 --> 00:19:14.640
Then then take them apart and back.
00:19:15.279 --> 00:19:17.680
And you can feel this energy.
00:19:18.240 --> 00:19:18.640
Yes.
00:19:19.440 --> 00:19:20.640
That's the qi.
00:19:21.440 --> 00:19:21.920
There you go.
00:19:22.400 --> 00:19:25.119
Chi is a life force that flows through all of us.
00:19:25.759 --> 00:19:34.799
If you know anything about acupuncture or or the Hindu chakra system or anything like that, it flows through all these subtle channels.
00:19:36.319 --> 00:19:41.039
And it's the breath, it's bioelectricity.
00:19:41.200 --> 00:19:46.400
The film itself uh begins with what is qi, your question.
00:19:46.640 --> 00:19:48.319
What does qi feel like?
00:19:48.640 --> 00:19:51.200
Because it's important to experience it.
00:19:51.359 --> 00:19:56.240
So so there's exercises like gathering the qi.
00:19:57.519 --> 00:20:02.000
You're standing or you're sitting, you feel your feet on the ground.
00:20:02.720 --> 00:20:13.759
You really feel your feet, not only feel your feet on the ground, but feel as though you have roots going way, way down into the earth.
00:20:14.240 --> 00:20:18.240
So you're not all up here, but you're right.
00:20:20.079 --> 00:20:32.960
And if we're sitting now, so really, you know, feel uh the base of your spine, feel uh the contact with the chair, right?
00:20:33.680 --> 00:20:46.400
And then also uh allow your consciousness to feel into your spine, the very base of your spine, and then very slowly feel each vertebra.
00:20:46.480 --> 00:20:54.799
And you can, I like to from dance, I like to rock back and forth and feel that energy in in India.
00:20:54.880 --> 00:20:57.920
They'll call it kundalini, which is an aspect of qi.
00:20:58.480 --> 00:21:01.039
So you feel that coming up.
00:21:01.759 --> 00:21:13.200
Uh, and then let's do it like this, where in in this tradition there's three very important centers called the Dantiens, the elixir fields.
00:21:13.440 --> 00:21:22.480
So the first one is for if you take your hand like this and put it at your navel, it's right at the bottom of your pinky.
00:21:23.359 --> 00:21:25.039
That's the lower Dantian.
00:21:25.440 --> 00:21:30.880
And that has to do with uh grounding and stability.
00:21:31.839 --> 00:21:36.720
And then, so we'll we'll let the energy come into that center.
00:21:36.960 --> 00:21:42.000
You can rock back and forth and feel this uh light.
00:21:42.160 --> 00:21:59.680
We see qi as light, that's qi is light, and and you can imagine it as rainbow light or white light or the light of the divine, whatever um religious tradition you come from, and then you'll bring.
00:22:00.319 --> 00:22:10.720
It up, up, up into the middle Dantian, which is the heart, the heart center, and you feel that back and forth.
00:22:13.759 --> 00:22:33.119
And then we'll bring it up, up, up, up, up, up into your what's the uh upper Dantian, it's called your, I always call this uh your third eye, they call it, uh your pineal center, the eye that sees in dreams and visions.
00:22:34.400 --> 00:22:43.920
So where your intuition and particularly women, but men too, you know, have very powerful ability in that way.
00:22:45.519 --> 00:22:55.680
And more and more these teachings allow you, give you the we'll say permission because to really trust your own insights.
00:22:57.200 --> 00:23:22.000
So in the Qi Gong, what we do, one of the things we do is we um we gather the qi, so your arms are out, and you gather the qi into these centers, and you feel this light, like you're embracing the light, and you're bringing it in and you feel it, you really feel it, and you do it a number of times, right?
00:23:24.559 --> 00:23:37.359
And and as you're doing this so people are not watching video and they're hearing it in audio, so going out around, and then back in.
00:23:37.519 --> 00:23:52.240
Yeah, you bring your arms out way out to the side, yeah, right, and then it really it's like you're embracing, yeah, you bring that into uh your forehead, actually, right?
00:23:52.400 --> 00:23:54.400
Your third eye in between your two eyes.
00:23:54.640 --> 00:24:08.880
Yeah, right, and there is actually in uh as you do it, and then you when you breathe out, you let go of any negative thoughts.
00:24:09.119 --> 00:24:09.920
I love that.
00:24:10.240 --> 00:24:14.720
Anything in your mind that's disturbing you, right?
00:24:15.119 --> 00:24:15.839
I love that.
00:24:16.079 --> 00:24:21.440
And then you do the same thing, bringing gathering that energy into your heart.
00:24:23.519 --> 00:24:26.240
And and breathing it in.
00:24:26.480 --> 00:24:30.079
You breathe out any emotional disturbances.
00:24:32.960 --> 00:24:43.440
And then when you bring it into the lower uh anything that your physical body is pain, suffering, you just uh let it go.
00:24:44.400 --> 00:24:45.759
You let it go.
00:24:46.160 --> 00:24:54.079
So that's uh you know, a tiny tiny bit of uh this five thousand-year-old tradition.
00:24:56.240 --> 00:25:01.039
That uh t teaches you.
00:25:02.960 --> 00:25:08.319
Uh the the essence of it is a concept called uwei effortless grace.
00:25:10.160 --> 00:25:16.400
Where you are totally aligned with that source.
00:25:17.359 --> 00:25:19.119
You know, the divine in you.
00:25:20.160 --> 00:25:29.839
And when experiences they come in and they go out, and everything becomes this flow.
00:25:32.000 --> 00:25:38.160
And there's a level of a kind of detachment that you come to.
00:25:40.000 --> 00:25:53.039
So that if somebody I've worked with this a lot, if somebody is uh getting angry at you and they're yelling at you, right, you realize that's their problem.
00:25:55.599 --> 00:26:00.799
And and as you do this but you see that it's their problem.
00:26:01.200 --> 00:26:01.440
Yeah.
00:26:02.079 --> 00:26:05.279
It's it's not that, you know, you're like, oh, right.
00:26:05.680 --> 00:26:21.200
It's it's that you see that it's their problem, their issue, and they're really doing what I would call a display of overabundant cheat, right?
00:26:21.359 --> 00:26:26.240
Of energy because they're not feeling integrated and balanced in that world.
00:26:27.279 --> 00:26:34.240
Many people, and we're trained to project our problems and our issues, oh, it's that person's fault.
00:26:34.559 --> 00:26:34.960
Right.
00:26:35.200 --> 00:26:42.559
So a piece of this is really a lot of self-contemplation, a lot of self-observation.
00:26:42.880 --> 00:26:51.519
But as you go the beauty of these practices, and there's a lot of beautiful, beautiful movement, very fluid.
00:26:51.599 --> 00:26:58.559
I when I first encountered it, it reminded me of early romantic ballet, very, very graceful.
00:26:58.720 --> 00:27:19.759
So, in learning grace, because in our culture we're very ungraceful, we're very like goal-oriented and push-oriented and you know, tough and we we want to be strong and powerful, but really we're strong and powerful when we're completely balanced.
00:27:20.079 --> 00:27:25.279
Yes, and yeah, I view that as a difference between power and force.
00:27:25.519 --> 00:27:31.200
Yes, I think we're very powerful, but I do not like to feel forceful.
00:27:31.440 --> 00:27:41.599
Yeah, I don't like to feel forceful, and I think more and more, and we've talked about this in the podcast in this year in particular, 2026, there's a lot of changes.
00:27:41.680 --> 00:28:01.039
Um, and I'm not an astrologer, but I know some very smart people who are, and a lot with the divine feminine coming forward in males and females, and we've talked about this on the podcast, they both we all have both, and we're coming out of a time where it's more fluid and it's very powerful, not to be confused.
00:28:01.119 --> 00:28:04.480
I mean, water is so powerful, right?
00:28:04.640 --> 00:28:09.279
Water can erode into cliffs, but it is power.
00:28:09.680 --> 00:28:19.920
Oh, that's in the movie we have Bruce Lee, the famous martial artist, say a screen water can flow and it can crash.
00:28:20.160 --> 00:28:22.640
Yes, be like water, my friend.
00:28:23.839 --> 00:28:37.519
So, Sharon, you've written a book, you've had a career in a lot of arts, you've brought healing into your life, you've learned, learned, learned, taught, taught, taught.
00:28:37.599 --> 00:28:38.720
That's your pattern.
00:28:38.880 --> 00:28:44.480
It looks to me like every single thing you've touched has just turned to gold.
00:28:45.119 --> 00:28:54.240
And now the movie, and I mean 10 years, and it is, I just want to say, because I did get to see the screener, not like watching a movie, it's like having an experience.
00:28:54.400 --> 00:28:57.599
So if you have the chance to watch the movie, watch the movie.
00:28:57.920 --> 00:29:04.400
But when I look at you, I'm just wondering have you ever had to overcome anything?
00:29:04.559 --> 00:29:06.480
Did you ever have a breakthrough moment?
00:29:06.720 --> 00:29:10.400
Like, what was your breakthrough moment where you were like, I can't take this anymore?
00:29:10.640 --> 00:29:12.400
Or something's gotta give?
00:29:12.559 --> 00:29:14.720
Did you have to overcome self-doubt?
00:29:14.880 --> 00:29:19.920
Like, what is it when it's not all these great things that we see?
00:29:21.119 --> 00:29:22.079
What was it like?
00:29:22.400 --> 00:29:28.000
I've been from the time I came in this life, I have been extremely sensitive.
00:29:29.599 --> 00:29:46.160
And so being sensitive, and I'm sure many of you are, you feel deeply, and you can see things that, you know, maybe well, I think we all have these abilities, but it's a different.
00:29:46.319 --> 00:29:51.680
Some people take the, you know, really work with them, some people ignore them.
00:29:52.079 --> 00:29:56.799
But so self-doubt has always been there.
00:29:57.039 --> 00:29:58.799
It's getting better now.
00:29:59.519 --> 00:30:01.039
I've done so much work.
00:30:01.279 --> 00:30:19.920
I think that that pursuing the other side of self-doubt, which is empowerment, has been one of the uh paths of my life and has led me to look at and experience all these different healing modalities.
00:30:21.039 --> 00:30:52.640
I I can tell you all that after many, many years of these, slowly, slowly, I am coming to, especially after I walked into the Qigong world with its deep inner teachings, that one becomes more grounded, clearer, and really learning to stand in your own center and your own power.
00:30:53.680 --> 00:30:58.079
In work, we have faced many challenges.
00:30:58.640 --> 00:31:04.400
I have never really had sponsors.
00:31:05.440 --> 00:31:10.880
I have put my own finances into every project.
00:31:12.160 --> 00:31:16.880
And on one level, that's wonderful because I have control.
00:31:17.440 --> 00:31:19.440
I don't have someone telling me what to do.
00:31:19.519 --> 00:31:22.880
So I can really do it from my heart and my art.
00:31:23.440 --> 00:31:25.839
But here's a little story.
00:31:26.160 --> 00:31:32.720
When my husband and I started our company, our film company, Sacred Mysteries Productions.
00:31:35.039 --> 00:31:45.599
Um, you know, we were fortunate to be able to interview some well-known healers and teachers and artists.
00:31:47.359 --> 00:31:53.440
But we really couldn't figure out how are we gonna live off of this?
00:31:53.839 --> 00:31:57.759
How are we going to we went, I remember we went to this bookstore in Boulder.
00:31:57.920 --> 00:32:03.839
We said, Oh, and the guy had always been nice, and we said, Oh, we started the company, and he goes, You're never gonna succeed.
00:32:06.160 --> 00:32:30.400
And so I had made a relationship with uh a woman at this company called New Leaf Distributing, which at that point, like that was about 2002, uh, was the biggest distributor for healing, new age, you could call meditation products.
00:32:31.599 --> 00:32:42.880
And the relationship was so warm and friendly, and they really liked the quality of what we were doing.
00:32:43.279 --> 00:32:48.880
So they gave me their entire list of stores and the people to contact.
00:32:49.920 --> 00:33:03.039
So I went and called every one of them, describing you know what we were doing, and they had heard of the names of the people we had interviewed for these uh documentaries.
00:33:03.599 --> 00:33:12.000
And, you know, we even said, okay, you can do it on consignment, and that's how we got started.
00:33:13.039 --> 00:33:18.799
And then years later, so now we're at about 2007.
00:33:20.160 --> 00:33:23.119
Um, you know, we were struggling along.
00:33:23.279 --> 00:33:26.799
We lived in this tiny place and put all our energy.
00:33:26.880 --> 00:33:40.720
We had our offices in a living room, put all our energy, and I was also, uh, we had finished our first document, full documentary about 2012 and the prophecies around the year 2012.
00:33:41.039 --> 00:33:42.799
We had some wonderful people in that.
00:33:43.839 --> 00:33:48.640
And I had just had two hip replacements.
00:33:50.240 --> 00:34:00.160
Uh starting to dance at nine, dancing on concrete floors with bells and genetics, and probably other things.
00:34:00.480 --> 00:34:02.640
Um I had two hip replacements.
00:34:02.720 --> 00:34:06.079
We had finished the film, we're trying to figure out what to do with it.
00:34:06.640 --> 00:34:16.960
We looked on the web and we found that this man, Neil Donald Walsh, who actually was in one of our films, um who wrote Conversations with God, had a film out.
00:34:18.719 --> 00:34:24.800
Um, and this was the beginning of what was called spiritual cinema, conscious cinema.
00:34:25.119 --> 00:34:40.239
And I saw that every place that he was showing the film, that they had the name of the place, the email, the phone number, and the name of the person, once again, who was in charge.
00:34:40.559 --> 00:34:41.679
So we did it again.
00:34:41.840 --> 00:34:43.440
We called everyone.
00:34:44.480 --> 00:34:51.679
The big lesson in this is what I call perseverance furthers, which is from the I Ching.
00:34:52.800 --> 00:34:59.840
If you have a dream, don't let other people bring you down.
00:35:01.760 --> 00:35:06.719
They're probably projecting their problems on you and their fears.
00:35:07.039 --> 00:35:11.039
And if you're feeling those fears, because I'm still experiencing them.
00:35:11.119 --> 00:35:13.280
I mean, I'm way more grounded.
00:35:13.679 --> 00:35:19.519
But, you know, I wake up and like, oh my God, are people gonna watch this film?
00:35:20.079 --> 00:35:26.559
Those things still are they gonna get it, you know, is my is it too esoteric?
00:35:26.800 --> 00:35:28.159
Will they understand?
00:35:29.119 --> 00:35:32.239
Um, but then I do my practice.
00:35:32.400 --> 00:35:32.639
Yes.
00:35:32.880 --> 00:35:50.079
And even just stopping when my mind starts spinning like that, and just taking, you know, feeling my feet on the ground, taking some deep breaths and letting my whole body just relax and feel good.
00:35:51.280 --> 00:35:53.440
Then I can move on to something else.
00:35:53.519 --> 00:35:56.960
And it might happen again in the next half hour.
00:35:57.360 --> 00:36:03.440
But though just those simple practices, one of the things I like to do is go in nature.
00:36:03.679 --> 00:36:04.079
Yes.
00:36:04.559 --> 00:36:12.559
Take a walk, move your body, yes, so that that energy moves and you're not just sitting in it.
00:36:12.719 --> 00:36:24.239
Yes, absolutely, yes, and ground down, maybe barefoot outside, even just a few minutes of sun in the morning helps you to reset your melatonin for nighttime now, they know.
00:36:24.400 --> 00:36:31.199
I mean, just basic things that we probably had when we were growing up, but there weren't the screens that there are now.
00:36:31.360 --> 00:36:33.119
I mean, I did an episode about this.
00:36:33.280 --> 00:36:56.639
You can't even go to a gas station without there being screens or news or something, but I and I'm not gonna go there, but I'm just saying it's to the point where we really all need to start saying enough and vote with our feet and just not patronize it, not give it the attention, not you know, by setting our energy elsewhere and first honoring ourselves.
00:36:56.880 --> 00:36:58.880
And that's what's been so beautiful.
00:37:00.159 --> 00:37:00.559
Yes.
00:37:10.719 --> 00:37:13.199
That we're in this together.
00:37:14.559 --> 00:37:17.119
We see the potential.
00:37:17.519 --> 00:37:27.840
We can feel because we experience it, the power of these practices to calm the spirit, calm the nerves, you know, calm the thoughts.
00:37:28.239 --> 00:37:57.199
And so what I do if I feel, you know, if I see something awful going on on the TV, the political world, you know, I just it's like seeing that is is almost like fuel for my working with people for bringing out the beauty in in every person, and that divine spark and creative spark exists in everyone.
00:37:57.599 --> 00:37:58.079
And more.
00:37:58.320 --> 00:38:01.280
And you're definitely a testimonial for this.
00:38:01.519 --> 00:38:08.480
So I've got people who let's say, and I know someone who in our extended family, he had a heart attack.
00:38:08.639 --> 00:38:14.559
He doesn't, he's not into yoga or meditation or anything like that, anything very spiritual.
00:38:14.639 --> 00:38:16.960
I think he goes to church and that and that's good.
00:38:17.039 --> 00:38:18.480
He has some kind of things.
00:38:19.039 --> 00:38:22.719
Um, but he wasn't, you know, attuned to anything.
00:38:22.800 --> 00:38:27.280
And part of the cardiotherapy that he got was qigong.
00:38:27.519 --> 00:38:29.840
And that was the first time I heard about it.
00:38:30.000 --> 00:38:37.039
So you don't have to be just for people out there, you don't she gave me a practice, and I've been doing it, and it is changing.
00:38:37.119 --> 00:38:39.679
And I mean, I have taught yoga for a long time.
00:38:39.840 --> 00:38:40.800
This is different.
00:38:41.280 --> 00:38:44.480
This is different, it's a different way, and you can do this.
00:38:44.639 --> 00:38:48.079
It's good to do it in community, but you don't have to do it in community.
00:38:48.159 --> 00:38:53.360
You can just get a little practice into your daily routine or a couple times a week, even.
00:38:53.519 --> 00:38:55.599
And you don't have to be a yogi.
00:38:55.679 --> 00:39:00.800
You don't have to be, you know, sitting in Lotus or sitting on a mountaintop or anything to get into this.
00:39:01.199 --> 00:39:03.119
You don't even have to know philosophy.
00:39:03.280 --> 00:39:06.159
You just have to have a body and an open mind.
00:39:06.880 --> 00:39:09.920
So I would recommend, and I'm gonna put your links up.
00:39:10.079 --> 00:39:16.239
I would recommend that you check out if you're listening the trailer for the movie.
00:39:16.320 --> 00:39:35.760
There's gonna be a link for that, and then we'll put up your website and then any other links that you feel you'll you can send me, Sharon, and we'll put them in just so people can reach you, so that they can reach out and find you and see if they can somehow um take a look at the movie or at least take a look at Qigong and how it could change their lives.
00:39:36.480 --> 00:39:53.920
Because the amount that you've been through and the amount that you've accomplished without the push, without the hustle, without cutting throat to get there, that's just what it is, you know, sometimes in your gentle way, is so powerful and speaks for itself.
00:39:54.800 --> 00:40:14.239
So people would want to know what they need to do to feel calm so that they can come home to themselves, to where they started before any of this stuff happened with their lives, and just remember why they're here, how powerful they are, how unified we all are, and what they can do.
00:40:14.559 --> 00:40:17.440
So thank you so, so much.
00:40:17.599 --> 00:40:20.400
What last message do you want to leave for the listeners?
00:40:20.559 --> 00:40:22.559
What would what do you want to say to them?
00:40:23.599 --> 00:40:36.719
If if you're interested, first we'll say, if you're interested in the movie, what we're doing is we're having, we're going to engage, enrich, and empower the entire community.
00:40:37.119 --> 00:40:53.920
Instead of going the traditional Hollywood way, we are doing community screenings, which anyone pretty much in the world can host and make a little money and bring community together and teach after the movie, teach uh any kind of healing practice.
00:40:54.079 --> 00:40:59.199
It doesn't have to be qigong, it can be like a breathing practice or a meditation practice.
00:40:59.519 --> 00:41:09.119
So that not only do you see the movie and and the movie, I only have two moments in the film that are not in nature.
00:41:09.519 --> 00:41:11.039
Wow, I love that.
00:41:12.159 --> 00:41:22.320
The movie and the music bring you into a meditative state as it is, and that's what we want for the world.
00:41:22.639 --> 00:41:41.599
You know, medical system is what it is, and we are encouraging, you know, we work with doctors to the best to bring uh you know these practice, these self-healing practices uh to the to everyone, aside from the you know, Western medical ways.
00:41:42.559 --> 00:41:45.519
And to me, it's it's both.
00:41:45.679 --> 00:41:55.280
If you can if you can see the wisdom and the healing power of both, then uh you're on your way.
00:41:55.599 --> 00:41:57.280
Yes, you are on your way.
00:41:57.599 --> 00:42:00.559
All right, well, we will let you get on your way.
00:42:00.719 --> 00:42:03.840
And again, thank you so so much for making the time.
00:42:04.000 --> 00:42:12.480
You are incredibly busy woman, and I realize that, and I really appreciate what you're doing for the world, and I appreciate what you're doing for listeners.
00:42:12.719 --> 00:42:16.000
So if you're out there, all the links are gonna be in the show notes.
00:42:16.159 --> 00:42:18.000
I want to thank you again for joining us.
00:42:18.159 --> 00:42:27.519
I know there's other ways you can spend your time, and I hope that you really got something out of this that you can take away and help you to live your best life.
00:42:27.840 --> 00:42:28.559
Take care.
00:42:28.719 --> 00:42:30.239
We'll see you next week.
