00:01:37.120 --> 00:01:38.640
What you changed.
00:01:38.879 --> 00:01:42.560
Just got I know it's you I know you're not gonna tell me you just got a job.
00:01:42.799 --> 00:01:45.840
There is something else that changed in the middle there.
00:01:46.079 --> 00:01:47.359
What was the bridge?
00:01:47.519 --> 00:01:49.040
What were you missing?
00:01:49.359 --> 00:01:49.840
Yeah.
00:01:50.079 --> 00:01:59.120
I I mean I and I use this in my with my clients in my communities as well, but I believe that there are three pieces to transformation, especially for men.
00:01:59.200 --> 00:02:02.319
And and I talk a lot, so a lot of this language is gonna be tailored toward men, right?
00:02:02.400 --> 00:02:04.239
But if you're listening, you're a woman, this is gonna be amazing.
00:02:04.319 --> 00:02:07.280
It's gonna help you connect with your with your husband and your partner on a deeper level.
00:02:07.359 --> 00:02:07.920
Yeah, it's gonna be.
00:02:08.159 --> 00:02:09.360
Yeah, we need to know this stuff.
00:02:09.680 --> 00:02:10.240
Totally.
00:02:10.479 --> 00:02:11.120
Totally.
00:02:11.360 --> 00:02:16.800
Uh the three pieces are are information, implementation, and accountability, right?
00:02:17.039 --> 00:02:20.560
And so the the big mistake a lot of men make is that they just need information.
00:02:20.719 --> 00:02:25.919
I just need an I need to read another book, I need to listen to another podcast, I need to watch another YouTube video.
00:02:26.159 --> 00:02:27.039
Well, that's great.
00:02:27.120 --> 00:02:32.879
But without inform without implementation, implementing that information, you're not gonna get anywhere.
00:02:33.039 --> 00:02:36.719
But even then, when you start to implement it, that's only gonna last so long.
00:02:36.879 --> 00:02:39.280
And you need accountability, which is the third piece.
00:02:39.439 --> 00:02:41.439
You need a community or mentors, you know.
00:02:41.599 --> 00:02:44.159
I had five men that surrounded me.
00:02:44.319 --> 00:02:48.319
And it was so powerful that I created a framework around it called the Iron Five.
00:02:48.479 --> 00:02:51.360
And a lot of my clients have their own Iron Five.
00:02:51.520 --> 00:02:56.960
It's the five strategic relationships that help every man to transformation in these different areas.
00:02:57.120 --> 00:03:04.560
Because for me, it was finances, it was in my marriage, it was in my fitness, it's my emotional health, and my spiritual life.
00:03:04.800 --> 00:03:16.400
Welcome to the Transform Your Mind Podcast, where we bring you conversations that transform your mind, improve your health, and help you create the life and relationships you deserve.
00:03:16.639 --> 00:03:23.840
I'm your host, Life Coach Rennie Young, and today's episode tackles a question so many women ask.
00:03:24.080 --> 00:03:26.159
Why wouldn't he talk to me?
00:03:26.400 --> 00:03:38.240
Many women feel frustrated because the man in their lives seems emotionally unavailable, avoid difficult conversations or shut down completely during conflict.
00:03:38.479 --> 00:03:41.520
But what if this isn't because they don't care?
00:03:41.840 --> 00:03:48.240
What if they're simply never learned how to process emotions in healthy ways?
00:03:48.479 --> 00:03:53.680
My guest today is Michelle Michelle, how can I speak?
00:03:53.919 --> 00:04:00.560
Michelle Osmond, uh leadership coach, speaker, and host of the Dad Nation podcast.
00:04:00.800 --> 00:04:16.319
After experiencing burnout, emotional shutdown, Michelle rebuilt his life through emotional mastery and now helps entrepreneurs, executives, and fathers become emotionally present leaders at home and at work.
00:04:16.480 --> 00:04:29.600
Today we're going to explore why men think differently about emotions, how women can foster healthier communications, and what book partners can do to create stronger, more connected relationships.
00:04:29.920 --> 00:04:33.600
Michelle, welcome to the Transform Your Mind Podcast.
00:04:33.839 --> 00:04:35.120
Wish I had a live audience.
00:04:35.279 --> 00:04:35.839
Yay.
00:04:37.839 --> 00:04:38.879
Thank you, Myrna.
00:04:39.120 --> 00:04:40.079
So good to be here today.
00:04:40.160 --> 00:04:43.120
I'm glad I'm I'm looking forward to having this conversation with you and you're listening.
00:04:43.439 --> 00:04:45.199
Yes, I'm looking forward to it too.
00:04:45.360 --> 00:04:56.079
You know, I just published um an episode uh for Father's Day on similar topics, you know, how um, you know, how fathers can build better relationships with their children.
00:04:56.240 --> 00:04:57.279
So this is kind of good.
00:04:57.439 --> 00:05:02.240
I wish that I could have piggybacked this conversation, but um uh this is good.
00:05:02.399 --> 00:05:02.800
All right.
00:05:03.040 --> 00:05:10.639
So as we dive in, Michelle, you often say that you almost lost everything before changing your life.
00:05:10.800 --> 00:05:16.800
What happened and what was the turning point that made you realize something had to change?
00:05:17.120 --> 00:05:18.800
Oh yeah, thank you for asking, Myrna.
00:05:18.959 --> 00:05:26.639
And and I think um that's a great place to start because a lot of people listening to shows like this can, it's easy to assume that the people talking have it all together.
00:05:26.800 --> 00:05:31.120
And and I want to be the first person to let your listeners know that that was not me.
00:05:31.199 --> 00:05:32.879
Uh that was not my story.
00:05:33.040 --> 00:05:38.240
Uh so real real quick, a bit of the context, the background, you know, I came from a very dysfunctional home.
00:05:38.399 --> 00:05:44.079
Father was an alcoholic, um, drugs, crime, abuse in my home, you know, were littered throughout my childhood.
00:05:44.240 --> 00:06:03.439
And, you know, I spent most of my life just convinced that I would become the man that I needed as a child, you know, had this real passion and really kind of thought I had it dealt with and got married um until about three years into marriage.
00:06:03.759 --> 00:06:06.800
Um, I I'd always been in leadership positions.
00:06:06.879 --> 00:06:08.399
Uh it made sense to me.
00:06:08.560 --> 00:06:10.000
I was a high performer.
00:06:10.160 --> 00:06:15.439
Um, used to that because, you know, I I learned from a young age I had to try and perform for my love, right?
00:06:15.519 --> 00:06:18.480
So that was a bit of a psychological thing that I worked through.
00:06:18.560 --> 00:06:21.839
But as a as a result, I just that was sort of my tendency.
00:06:22.079 --> 00:06:26.000
But three years into marriage, I was let go of my position.
00:06:26.639 --> 00:06:33.920
No, I was in the uh one of the fastest growing organizations in the country at the time, and I spiraled completely.
00:06:34.160 --> 00:06:34.480
All right.
00:06:34.560 --> 00:06:39.040
And so within just a few months, I was, you know, 60 pounds overweight.
00:06:39.199 --> 00:06:40.879
We were 100 grand in debt.
00:06:40.959 --> 00:06:45.439
Um, I was drinking every day, just trying to cope with with the life that I had made.
00:06:45.600 --> 00:06:51.120
Um, me and my wife uh were on the verge of divorce, like it was on the doorstep.
00:06:51.279 --> 00:06:58.079
Now, our first three years of marriage were tough, don't get me wrong, but but it got real hard once I lost my job.
00:06:58.240 --> 00:07:02.720
Because as a man, I found a lot of my identity wrapped up in what I do.
00:07:02.800 --> 00:07:03.040
Right.
00:07:03.120 --> 00:07:10.800
And and and culture does in a lot of in a lot of senses value a man by what he can produce, what he can provide, what you know what I mean.
00:07:10.879 --> 00:07:15.680
That's why the second question we always ask each other is men, the first question is what's your name?
00:07:15.920 --> 00:07:18.079
The second one is what do you do?
00:07:18.240 --> 00:07:18.560
Right?
00:07:18.800 --> 00:07:19.040
Really?
00:07:19.199 --> 00:07:21.120
Um David Ware goes.
00:07:21.519 --> 00:07:22.560
100%, 100%.
00:07:22.800 --> 00:07:23.680
What do you do?
00:07:23.920 --> 00:07:29.360
Um, and so um, you know, we we the there's two turning points for me, Myrna.
00:07:29.680 --> 00:07:32.160
Number one was the fight, number two is a funeral.
00:07:32.319 --> 00:07:34.079
Okay, number one, the fight.
00:07:34.240 --> 00:07:44.879
So if you can picture with me, I was sitting on the couch in our living room, gray couch, white room, a small little condo, and me and my wife had a huge, huge fight.
00:07:44.959 --> 00:07:49.120
And it started about money, and it started, and then it spiraled into something else, and something else.
00:07:49.199 --> 00:07:56.639
And before you know it, it it you know it was yelling, and and and I walked away from that fight that day.
00:07:57.040 --> 00:07:58.879
And I had a I had a gut feeling.
00:07:58.959 --> 00:08:04.079
I just knew if I didn't change, that I was about to lose everything that I'd worked so hard for.
00:08:04.319 --> 00:08:08.720
Remember, keep in mind that I was so determined to become the man that I needed, right?
00:08:08.879 --> 00:08:12.639
And so the fight was actually about children because I said, hey, babe, I want to have kids.
00:08:12.879 --> 00:08:14.399
And and when can we start?
00:08:14.480 --> 00:08:18.000
And because I'm one break generational curse and yada yada yada, right?
00:08:18.160 --> 00:08:19.680
And she looked at me, she's like, Are you kidding me?
00:08:20.240 --> 00:08:24.720
There's no sh not a chance for having kids, we're bringing kids into this relationship.
00:08:25.279 --> 00:08:26.879
It was a real eye-opener for me.
00:08:27.279 --> 00:08:39.679
And um and so I'd be going out looking for work every day, and I'd be coming home earna, and I'd be sitting in the driveway praying that that this wouldn't be the day that I walked in and found the ring on the counter, you know, and with what Furfee had gone.
00:08:39.759 --> 00:08:42.159
It was a dark, dark time in my life.
00:08:42.320 --> 00:08:46.080
Um, overweight, broke, drinking, on the verge of, of course.
00:08:46.480 --> 00:08:49.440
Um and then I the second part was seven days later.
00:08:49.679 --> 00:08:51.200
This is the funeral part of the story.
00:08:51.360 --> 00:08:54.399
I was invited to sing at the funeral of this very wealthy man.
00:08:54.480 --> 00:08:55.600
He was a philanthropist.
00:08:55.840 --> 00:08:57.360
There's about 2,000 people in the room.
00:08:58.559 --> 00:09:06.480
And um and I'm strapping on my guitar and I'm just getting ready to sing the last song in this in this memorial service.
00:09:06.960 --> 00:09:14.799
And after the minister had spent all this time talking about all this man had done and the people that he'd helped, he asked the congregation a question.
00:09:14.960 --> 00:09:18.320
He said, Are you living a life worthy of imitation?
00:09:19.120 --> 00:09:22.399
If you were to die today, would you be proud of the legacy that you left?
00:09:23.360 --> 00:09:31.759
And Myrna, for me, like I as I was trying to choke out the lyrics to the last song, you know, I knew the answer.
00:09:32.240 --> 00:09:43.039
As I was trying to sing the song, staring at the casket of this other man, I was faced with the reality that if if this were my funeral today, no one would be saying, I want to imitate his marriage.
00:09:43.200 --> 00:09:47.919
I want to imitate his bank account, I want to live like he did, I want to, you know, I want to love others like he did.
00:09:48.159 --> 00:09:52.960
They just would have said, Yeah, he died too soon and he didn't get a chance to turn it back around.
00:09:53.039 --> 00:09:55.440
Like it was a very visceral moment for me.
00:09:56.320 --> 00:10:01.279
So that day I went home and I had a conversation with my wife, and and I made a commitment.
00:10:01.440 --> 00:10:13.120
I said that I I will die to whatever it is that I need to die to to become the man and the husband I need to be, and hopefully the father I need to be for my children one day, should my wife, you know, give me this chance.
00:10:13.360 --> 00:10:31.840
And within 18 months, I I I I brought in mentors, I hired specialists with about a year and a half, completely turned my life around, paid, um, we paid off the hundred grand of debt, um, lost 60 pounds, rebuilt my body, um, got clean, sober, focused, uh, and then restored my marriage.
00:10:32.000 --> 00:10:44.240
And then so from that point on, that after that 18 months, because I'd been in positions of leadership my whole life, people saw what was going on, and they would ask me and they would say, Mitch, like what's going on, man?
00:10:44.320 --> 00:10:45.679
What you know, you're on fire.
00:10:45.919 --> 00:10:47.279
Would you would you be able to help me?
00:10:47.440 --> 00:10:57.600
You know, and so I spent the next five, six years walking with other men, building budgets, um, going to the gym, designing training plans, uh, helping them reconnect with their lives.
00:10:57.840 --> 00:11:08.240
Until one of my mentors challenged me and he said, Mitch, if you really want to take that question seriously, if you really want to live a life worthy of imitation, you need to decide what that looks like for you.
00:11:08.399 --> 00:11:14.480
What what does it look like for you to commit your life to something that's just gonna give you so much fulfillment and peace?
00:11:14.720 --> 00:11:17.360
And uh he said, You know what I think you need to do?
00:11:17.519 --> 00:11:22.000
You need to turn this mess into a message and start a podcast and tell the world your story.
00:11:22.240 --> 00:11:25.600
So I launched the Dad Nation podcast about two and a half years ago.
00:11:25.840 --> 00:11:29.519
And within six months, we became, we were up in the top five percent in the world.
00:11:29.679 --> 00:11:36.399
Um, and then had listeners listen from all around North America and guys reaching out with a similar story as mine.
00:11:36.559 --> 00:11:41.120
High performing man, career-driven man, just you know, winning network but losing at home.
00:11:41.360 --> 00:11:43.360
And they were like, Hey Mitch, could you help me?
00:11:43.440 --> 00:11:45.840
Could you, you know, so that's what I did.
00:11:45.919 --> 00:11:49.600
I I hired somebody to help me essentially start my coaching business.
00:11:50.159 --> 00:11:55.200
And I had always been mentoring and I'd always been developing people through leadership positions.
00:11:55.279 --> 00:11:57.120
So it was something was very natural to me.
00:11:57.279 --> 00:12:06.080
And I had studied like a madman for almost a decade on performance, um, psychology, relationships, finances, all these different things.
00:12:06.320 --> 00:12:08.159
And then launched my coaching practice.
00:12:08.240 --> 00:12:13.200
And a couple years later, here I am today, and that's exactly what I do, Myrna, is I is I help.
00:12:13.279 --> 00:12:16.080
I mean, I'm a big fan of Ed Milette, and he says this all the time.
00:12:16.240 --> 00:12:19.440
You are the most qualified to help the person you used to be.
00:12:19.679 --> 00:12:20.639
And that's what I do.
00:12:20.720 --> 00:12:28.960
I help high-performing or career-driven men reclaim their home, their health, their happiness without sacrificing their career success.
00:12:29.120 --> 00:12:34.559
So a lot of my clients are guys who have seen success in business or professionally, but they're struggling personally.
00:12:34.639 --> 00:12:43.759
Maybe they feel disconnected from their marriage, they feel like roommates, or maybe they've gained 30, 40 pounds, or, you know, maybe they're feeling disconnected from their kids, is you know, that's that kind of thing.
00:12:43.840 --> 00:12:45.200
That's so that's the work that I do.
00:12:45.360 --> 00:12:45.759
Yeah.
00:12:46.080 --> 00:12:47.679
Well, that's an amazing story.
00:12:47.759 --> 00:12:50.159
And um, I'm very interested in this conversation.
00:12:50.240 --> 00:12:58.559
But before I get to um, you know, what is actually the disconnect, because I I don't get it.
00:12:58.720 --> 00:13:10.480
I can understand where men have a problem emotionally connecting to their their wives if they had trauma, because this this podcast is really about trauma and trauma recovery.
00:13:10.559 --> 00:13:14.960
And I spend a lot of time with guests about, you know, their childhood trauma.
00:13:15.200 --> 00:13:22.480
But I don't understand what makes a successful man not be successful at home.
00:13:22.720 --> 00:13:26.480
So before I get to that question, let's get back to your story.
00:13:26.720 --> 00:13:28.960
I want to I want to bridge the gap.
00:13:29.200 --> 00:13:41.360
You lost your job and you're having, you know, a fight with your wife, your five, you, and you were drinking because your identity was in the title, your identity was in the providing.
00:13:41.600 --> 00:13:45.679
But I don't understand what you changed.
00:13:46.000 --> 00:13:49.600
Just got I know it's you, I know you're not gonna tell me you just got a job.
00:13:49.759 --> 00:13:52.879
There is something else that changed in the middle there.
00:13:53.039 --> 00:13:54.320
What was the bridge?
00:13:54.559 --> 00:13:56.080
What were you missing?
00:13:56.399 --> 00:13:56.879
Yeah.
00:13:57.120 --> 00:14:06.159
I I mean, I and I use this in my with my clients in my communities as well, but I believe that there are three pieces to transformation, especially for men.
00:14:06.240 --> 00:14:09.360
And and I talk a lot, so a lot of this language is gonna be tailored toward men, right?
00:14:09.440 --> 00:14:11.279
But if you're listening, you're a woman, this is gonna be amazing.
00:14:11.360 --> 00:14:14.320
It's gonna help you connect with your with your husband and your on a deeper level.
00:14:14.399 --> 00:14:14.960
Yeah, it's gonna be.
00:14:15.200 --> 00:14:16.399
Yeah, we need to know this stuff.
00:14:16.639 --> 00:14:17.279
Totally.
00:14:17.519 --> 00:14:18.159
Totally.
00:14:18.399 --> 00:14:23.759
Uh the three pieces are are information, implementation, and accountability, right?
00:14:24.080 --> 00:14:27.600
And so the the big mistake a lot of men make is that they just need information.
00:14:27.759 --> 00:14:32.960
I just need an I need to read another book, I need to listen to another podcast, I need to watch another YouTube video.
00:14:33.200 --> 00:14:34.000
Well, that's great.
00:14:34.159 --> 00:14:39.919
But without inform without implementation, implementing that information, you're not gonna get anywhere.
00:14:40.080 --> 00:14:43.759
But even then, when you start to implement it, that's only gonna last so long.
00:14:43.919 --> 00:14:46.320
And you need accountability, which is the third piece.
00:14:46.480 --> 00:14:48.480
You need a community or mentors, you know.
00:14:48.639 --> 00:14:55.360
I had five men that surrounded me, and it was so powerful that I created a framework around it called the Iron Five.
00:14:55.519 --> 00:14:58.399
And a lot of my clients have their own iron five.
00:14:58.559 --> 00:15:11.759
It's the five strategic relationships that help every man to transformation in these different areas because for me it was finances, it was in my marriage, it was in my fitness, my emotional health, and my spiritual life.
00:15:12.320 --> 00:15:19.360
So I looked around my life and said, Who do that I know has the best marriage that I know of?
00:15:19.519 --> 00:15:20.399
Who's in the best shape?
00:15:20.480 --> 00:15:22.080
Who's the most jacked guy I've ever met?
00:15:22.159 --> 00:15:25.200
You know, who's got the most money that I've ever met in my life?
00:15:25.360 --> 00:15:26.879
And I'm just like legit, Myrna.
00:15:27.120 --> 00:15:30.399
It was like I just reached out and I said, Hey, I really respect you.
00:15:30.639 --> 00:15:40.000
And uh and I would love to learn from you because you're living where I want to go, you know, and these men, like my ceiling was their floor, you know what I mean?
00:15:40.159 --> 00:15:42.080
Like they were living where I wanted to go.
00:15:42.159 --> 00:15:43.840
And so, and then they they responded.
00:15:44.159 --> 00:15:45.679
I like that we started, yeah, yeah.
00:15:45.919 --> 00:15:52.399
We started mentorship, and these guys showed me what was possible uh and then held me to that standard that I set.
00:15:52.559 --> 00:15:55.039
And so that was the accountability piece, right?
00:15:55.279 --> 00:15:56.799
And so for me, what changed?
00:15:56.879 --> 00:16:07.759
Well, it was this desperation, this real honesty of I am and this was a crazy full circle moment, Myrna, because I'm a huge believer in generational cycles.
00:16:07.919 --> 00:16:14.480
Um, and and I had spent my entire life being determined not to become my father, right?
00:16:15.200 --> 00:16:18.799
But you weren't yet because you didn't have any children, so you're beating yourself up.
00:16:19.360 --> 00:16:22.240
I wasn't, but I was on that path, right?
00:16:22.639 --> 00:16:24.559
Yeah, you're on the bad thing, you caught it.
00:16:24.799 --> 00:16:25.600
It's just yeah.
00:16:26.240 --> 00:16:33.120
As I was singing that song, I was like thinking to myself, you're overweight, you're in debt, you're in a terrible marriage, you know what I mean?
00:16:33.440 --> 00:16:35.279
You're you're drinking every day.
00:16:35.759 --> 00:16:38.480
You look a lot like somebody you know really well.
00:16:38.720 --> 00:16:45.440
And so the crazy thing was, I even even though I tried my best, I I didn't have those other pieces.
00:16:45.840 --> 00:16:51.840
I didn't have the implementation, I didn't have the accountability, and so I was setting on this trajectory and it felt so impossible to break off.
00:16:52.080 --> 00:16:59.120
And so that's I think that's you know, the significance of that moment for sure, uh the desperation of it, right?
00:16:59.200 --> 00:17:08.000
Which is usually what happens with men, but it takes them one uh one um traumatic event to shake them to change.
00:17:08.559 --> 00:17:12.480
But the other two pieces, like I said, were that accountability and and the implementation, right?
00:17:12.640 --> 00:17:21.519
So yeah, that was I think for me that's what it was, and um and that's this I've used the same model to help countless other men since there, right?
00:17:21.920 --> 00:17:29.519
Very hands-on, it's very uh high accountability, high community, you know, strategies, tools, all that stuff.
00:17:29.680 --> 00:17:43.839
So well, I the the the thing I got from that, what you just said, it's not necessarily the uh the knowledge and accountability and implementation, it was the five pieces.
00:17:44.480 --> 00:17:46.240
Because you talk about Ed Milette.
00:17:46.400 --> 00:17:49.119
I don't I know him, but I don't really follow his work.
00:17:49.279 --> 00:17:56.480
But I follow Tony Robbins, and Tony Robbins always says that you have to have, I think his was the seven pieces.
00:17:56.799 --> 00:18:08.640
And if if if one of like, you know, how many very successful people, which is going to be one of the questions, my next question really, very successful people that are unhappy, right?
00:18:09.039 --> 00:18:12.160
Because they're only ticking off that one box, right?
00:18:12.319 --> 00:18:15.759
But you and you mentioned, you know, your relationship with your wife.
00:18:15.920 --> 00:18:17.599
That is a huge piece of happiness.
00:18:17.680 --> 00:18:22.960
This relationship comes from 85% of your happiness comes from your your close relationships.
00:18:23.039 --> 00:18:24.319
So you just talked about that.
00:18:24.480 --> 00:18:27.440
Who who are who are the people that's in your corner?
00:18:27.599 --> 00:18:29.839
Um, and uh, you know, fitness.
00:18:30.000 --> 00:18:34.480
Yeah, if you don't feel well, you can't, you know, Dr.
00:18:34.640 --> 00:18:36.160
Wendwyer says that.
00:18:36.400 --> 00:18:39.279
If you don't feel good, you you can't you can't show up.
00:18:39.359 --> 00:18:42.079
You gotta feel good, and fitness makes you feel good.
00:18:42.240 --> 00:18:48.319
And spirituality, people don't understand that you've got to be connected to something on outside of yourself.
00:18:48.480 --> 00:18:57.680
So the five things is is is pretty good, and that's where I was looking for when I asked you the question, because I knew it wasn't just getting a job, right?
00:18:58.000 --> 00:19:03.119
And you know, that'll make you feel better for like a month and then you'll be right back into the spiral.
00:19:03.279 --> 00:19:13.920
So let's talk about why exactly this high-performing men um have such struggle with an emotional connection at home.
00:19:14.079 --> 00:19:19.200
If I were gonna make a stab at it, I'll be thinking that I don't know.
00:19:19.359 --> 00:19:31.359
I can't even make a stab at it because if I were gonna make a stab at it, I would be saying, oh, because they're bosses at work and maybe there can't be bosses at home, maybe because their wife don't listen to them.
00:19:31.519 --> 00:19:32.000
I don't know.
00:19:32.079 --> 00:19:34.000

That is M Y H E L P S dot U S slash P A R T N E R.
00:21:57.039 --> 00:21:58.160
That's a very good question.
00:21:58.240 --> 00:21:59.599
That's the million dollar question.
00:22:00.160 --> 00:22:00.319
Right.
00:22:00.480 --> 00:22:00.720
Yeah.
00:22:02.559 --> 00:22:09.359
Why is it that I am so and legitimately got off a a client call with a client uh yesterday who was like, Why is it that we just started working together?
00:22:09.519 --> 00:22:14.720
He said, Why is it that I'm so respected at work and I feel like a complete nuisance at home?
00:22:14.960 --> 00:22:15.279
Right?
00:22:15.519 --> 00:22:16.559
High performing guy.
00:22:16.640 --> 00:22:26.160
Well, let me let me unpack I because I think in order for us to answer that question, we have to un unpack our wiring and understand how we're wired and our drivers.
00:22:26.240 --> 00:22:26.559
Okay.
00:22:26.880 --> 00:22:37.599
So, for example, um, you know, number one, it's important to understand that men universally struggle with uh their emotions and talking about their emotions, you know.
00:22:37.680 --> 00:22:39.680
So let's get that out in there and in the opening.
00:22:39.759 --> 00:22:46.480
If you're a woman and you're listening to this and your man is like a robot and he doesn't talk about how he feels, that's just actually part of the male expression.
00:22:46.720 --> 00:22:49.519
He's not broken, it's a it's a nature and nurture.
00:22:49.599 --> 00:22:56.480
But there's a term for this actually, psychologists have coined, and it's called normative male alexithymia, which is a bit of a mouthful.
00:22:56.640 --> 00:23:00.720
But if you if you Google the word um if you Google it, you'll you'll read all about it.
00:23:00.799 --> 00:23:12.880
But the word alexithymia, broken down from the Greek is alexythymos, which directly translated means uh to be without words for emotion.
00:23:14.079 --> 00:23:21.920
So if you put all that together, normative male lexithomia, it's normal for a male to be without words for emotion, right?
00:23:22.400 --> 00:23:31.119
So when a woman talks to a man and and asks him how he's feeling and wants to connect emotionally, okay, well, we got something to talk about here, right?
00:23:31.279 --> 00:23:44.000
Because universally, now this is the generalization, it's not there's always exceptions, but generally speaking, most men really feel uncomfortable, even understanding what's going on for themselves, let alone being able to make space for their wives.
00:23:44.319 --> 00:23:48.400
Now, let me bring up some more statistics, which you would know some of this stuff.
00:23:48.640 --> 00:23:54.000
Up to 70% of divorces in the uh US today are initiated by the women in the relationship.
00:23:54.559 --> 00:23:55.039
70%.
00:23:55.599 --> 00:24:02.559
In in if you dig into that data in high income households, that number actually jumps to 90%.
00:24:03.279 --> 00:24:05.920
Nine out of every 10 divorces are initiated by women.
00:24:06.160 --> 00:24:09.279
Now, let's look at the data, the reasons why.
00:24:09.599 --> 00:24:28.240
When you look at all the reasons why, 80% of the time, the main reason cited for these up to 90% of women initiating a divorce is not sex, it's not cheating, it's not abuse, it's not kids, it's some variation of emotional disconnect.
00:24:28.640 --> 00:24:29.759
Unavailable, right?
00:24:30.000 --> 00:24:32.240
Emotional unavailable, meaning I married a robot.
00:24:32.319 --> 00:24:34.240
I didn't feel like his marriages too.
00:24:34.480 --> 00:24:34.880
Exactly.
00:24:34.960 --> 00:24:36.319
I didn't, I didn't feel like a priority.
00:24:36.400 --> 00:24:37.759
He didn't talk to me, he didn't connect with me.
00:24:38.319 --> 00:24:39.759
So yeah, what do we got here, Myrna?
00:24:39.839 --> 00:24:42.400
We've got we've got these crazy statistics.
00:24:42.640 --> 00:24:45.759
80% of divorces are because of an emotional disconnection.
00:24:45.839 --> 00:24:47.759
What's the biggest thing men struggle with?
00:24:48.000 --> 00:24:50.240
Emotional understanding intelligence, right?
00:24:50.319 --> 00:24:51.279
Connection, all that stuff.
00:24:51.359 --> 00:24:54.720
Yeah, so uh duh, no wonder that there's this big issue.
00:24:54.880 --> 00:25:00.799
90% of the you're saying they're wired that way, or I'm saying it's a childhood trauma.
00:25:01.119 --> 00:25:05.039
No, it's it's it's a combination of nurture and and nature, right?
00:25:05.359 --> 00:25:12.960
And so, because I'm gonna talk about the nature piece, the wiring piece, um, but but but let's just acknowledge this for what it is.
00:25:13.039 --> 00:25:15.200
I think it's important to to to state that.
00:25:15.279 --> 00:25:17.680
Um, so now we've got something to work with, right?
00:25:17.759 --> 00:25:19.680
We can say, okay, well, my husband's like this.
00:25:19.839 --> 00:25:22.799
That's actually that's okay, that's he's not broken, right?
00:25:22.960 --> 00:25:26.720
Or if a husband's listening, it's like I feel this way, right?
00:25:26.880 --> 00:25:28.720
But here's the thing, I say this all the time.
00:25:28.880 --> 00:25:33.519
Your wiring may uh explain you, but it does not excuse you.
00:25:33.759 --> 00:25:34.079
Okay.
00:25:34.400 --> 00:25:42.160
We're living in a time and age where we have tools and resources to be able to develop this ability, right?
00:25:42.240 --> 00:25:50.079
So let's, I mean, now I could talk about the nurture uh piece all day with culture and how it's evolved and all that stuff, but let's talk about the nature for a moment.
00:25:50.319 --> 00:25:53.279
When we talk about like masculine versus feminine, right?
00:25:53.359 --> 00:25:58.559
So a man, and I'm talking again, there's always gonna be men who are more feminine and women who are more masculine.
00:25:58.720 --> 00:26:06.960
Let's just talk about generally speaking, the the the man has a masculine essence, the the the wife or the female has a feminine essence.
00:26:07.200 --> 00:26:23.200
Now, the drivers of a of a of a man of a masculine essence are accomplishments, are excellence, very purpose-driven, um, very strategic, very analytical, uh, data-driven, right?
00:26:24.160 --> 00:26:35.839
The driver of uh the feminine essence are things like um emotions, um, intuition, nurturing relationships, you know, like okay, so let's let's let's pull up an example.
00:26:35.920 --> 00:26:40.559
Uh, I want you to picture, and all of your listeners, I want you to picture a Super Bowl party for a moment, right?
00:26:41.200 --> 00:26:48.880
And when you walk into a Super Bowl party, men and women, where do you typically see the men gathered at the Super Bowl party?
00:26:50.000 --> 00:26:50.960
Around the TV.
00:26:51.200 --> 00:26:52.880
Around the TV, around the TV.
00:26:52.960 --> 00:26:53.359
Why?
00:26:53.599 --> 00:26:57.839
Because they're watching some of the best athletes in the world do what they do.
00:26:58.079 --> 00:26:58.720
Excellence.
00:26:58.880 --> 00:27:00.799
They're on a mission, they're purpose-driven.
00:27:00.880 --> 00:27:04.079
It's like, it's it's like we're like moths to a flame, right?
00:27:04.559 --> 00:27:07.839
Where do you typically see the women at the Super Bowl party?
00:27:08.400 --> 00:27:09.839
Around the food.
00:27:10.160 --> 00:27:10.960
Standing around the aisle.
00:27:11.119 --> 00:27:12.880
I've never been to one, so I can't answer that properly.
00:27:13.200 --> 00:27:20.640
No, but but standing around the aisle and maybe sipping a glass of wine, catching up with the girlfriends, hey honey, hey Jessica, how how's Jason doing?
00:27:20.720 --> 00:27:21.440
How are the kids?
00:27:21.599 --> 00:27:22.240
What are they doing?
00:27:22.720 --> 00:27:25.680
They're nurturing the relationships, they're connecting on an emotional level.
00:27:26.240 --> 00:27:26.480
Right?
00:27:26.720 --> 00:27:30.640
So, this is we just gotta understand, like this is generally speaking, this is how we're wired.
00:27:30.799 --> 00:27:38.000
So, okay, now that we understand the big disconnect and how we're wired typically, now we think about this.
00:27:38.319 --> 00:27:43.200
A man's greatest need is actually not to feel loved.
00:27:43.519 --> 00:27:44.720
It's just crazy.
00:27:44.960 --> 00:27:49.440
A man's greatest need is to feel respected and to feel competent.
00:27:49.759 --> 00:27:51.279
Now, Myrna, I've done this before.
00:27:51.440 --> 00:27:59.119
I've I've been in a room of a thousand men and I've said, Hey, would you rather hear the words I love you or I respect you from your wife?
00:27:59.440 --> 00:28:02.559
99% of the room are gonna say, I respect you, right?
00:28:02.799 --> 00:28:06.480
So that's a big piece, but women are wire completely differently, right?
00:28:06.559 --> 00:28:08.400
Obviously, respect is they want love, right?
00:28:08.720 --> 00:28:09.680
We want love, right?
00:28:09.839 --> 00:28:11.200
Yeah, they want to be seen.
00:28:11.359 --> 00:28:18.799
My my whole model is I have something called the attraction triangle, which is the uh a woman's three core needs, is to feel seen, to feel heard, and to feel safe.
00:28:18.960 --> 00:28:22.160
And we can unpack those at another time, but but that's the idea.
00:28:22.240 --> 00:28:25.200
So so now we got completely different drivers.
00:28:25.359 --> 00:28:27.759
So a man comes home from work, yeah.
00:28:28.000 --> 00:28:31.839
Let's get to that part because she's not disrespecting him, you know.
00:28:32.079 --> 00:28:33.599
Yeah, he just comes home and anyway.
00:28:33.680 --> 00:28:34.720
Go ahead, let's hear yourself.
00:28:34.880 --> 00:28:36.880
Here is where the rubber meets the road, right?
00:28:37.039 --> 00:28:38.480
Here's where the tension comes in.
00:28:38.640 --> 00:28:40.960
So the husband comes home from work and he's been at work.
00:28:41.039 --> 00:28:42.160
What is he doing at work all day?
00:28:42.240 --> 00:28:42.720
For the most part.
00:28:42.880 --> 00:28:44.799
He's working getting solutions, right?
00:28:44.960 --> 00:28:52.240
He's thinking strategically, he's using that masculine essence to uh provide strategies, you know, fix at the end of the day.
00:28:52.400 --> 00:29:00.480
So he comes home and his wife has a conversation, and maybe he's talking about the kids are driving her nuts, or maybe she got a fight with her sister or mother-in-law, whatever.
00:29:00.640 --> 00:29:01.680
What does the husband do?
00:29:01.839 --> 00:29:13.200
Well, he immediately does what he always does, what he gets paid very well to do, and what he's kind of wired to do is to is to solve, is to bring a solution, is to shove a strategy down her throat, right?
00:29:13.359 --> 00:29:14.640
And what's the first thing she says?
00:29:14.799 --> 00:29:15.680
Well, I don't need you.
00:29:15.759 --> 00:29:16.880
Stop trying to fix this.
00:29:17.039 --> 00:29:18.000
I don't need you to tell.
00:29:18.319 --> 00:29:19.119
I just want you to listen.
00:29:19.200 --> 00:29:20.799
Would you just listen to me for once?
00:29:20.960 --> 00:29:22.400
You know, but what happens here?
00:29:22.559 --> 00:29:23.200
What happens here?
00:29:23.359 --> 00:29:23.680
Okay.
00:29:23.839 --> 00:29:27.440
Woman's need to feel seen, heard safe, man's need to feel confident, respected.
00:29:27.599 --> 00:29:29.920
So she all of a sudden doesn't feel seen.
00:29:30.079 --> 00:29:34.000
She doesn't feel heard, she doesn't feel emotionally safe to share what's going on.
00:29:34.160 --> 00:29:36.799
Because the first thing the husband does says, Ah, just don't worry about it.
00:29:36.880 --> 00:29:37.119
Just get over.
00:29:37.279 --> 00:29:38.000
It's not a big deal.
00:29:38.079 --> 00:29:39.039
Here's how you can fix it.
00:29:39.119 --> 00:29:40.000
Get over it, whatever.
00:29:40.079 --> 00:29:40.880
Like, don't worry about it.
00:29:41.119 --> 00:29:41.279
Right.
00:29:41.680 --> 00:29:44.000
My husband said, It's none of my business.
00:29:44.240 --> 00:29:45.279
I don't care.
00:29:45.599 --> 00:29:46.319
Exactly.
00:29:46.559 --> 00:29:46.880
Right.
00:29:46.960 --> 00:29:50.480
So what you hear is, um, don't why don't you care?
00:29:50.640 --> 00:29:51.200
Like, you should care.
00:29:51.680 --> 00:29:52.640
Like, don't you want to protect me?
00:29:52.720 --> 00:29:53.839
I shouldn't, you know what I mean?
00:29:54.079 --> 00:30:02.000
And so, what happens then is a wife when she's not feeling seen, hurt, or safe, she starts to potentially say things that may feel disrespectful or make a man feel incompetent.
00:30:02.240 --> 00:30:02.640
I got it.
00:30:03.519 --> 00:30:04.079
What's wrong with you?
00:30:04.160 --> 00:30:05.119
Why can't you figure that out?
00:30:05.200 --> 00:30:06.640
Well, why are you why are you a robot?
00:30:06.720 --> 00:30:09.279
Blah, blah, blah, blah, bright, which makes sense because she's hurt.
00:30:09.359 --> 00:30:10.640
But then what does he feel?
00:30:10.880 --> 00:30:14.960
He feels incompetent as a husband, and he may feel disrespected.
00:30:15.119 --> 00:30:16.160
So what happens?
00:30:16.400 --> 00:30:23.440
Okay, now we got a situation where men think, Well, where can I go to find respect?
00:30:23.599 --> 00:30:25.519
Where can I go to feel competent?
00:30:25.759 --> 00:30:26.799
At work, right?
00:30:27.039 --> 00:30:37.039
So, what happens is men just go back to work and they get more comfortable and more confident because that's where they get respected and that's where they feel most confident, and that's where they get their needs met.
00:30:37.200 --> 00:30:44.480
Where does a woman typically go to get those emotional nurturing needs met, typically into the children or nurturing other relationships, right?
00:30:44.720 --> 00:30:46.559
Girlfriends, girlfriends, exactly.
00:30:46.720 --> 00:30:49.920
So what happens then is this is what we call the drift.
00:30:50.079 --> 00:30:56.960
And we call we also call this the crazy cycle, where like you got a husband trying to fix it, you get a woman trying to, I don't need you to fix it, right?
00:30:57.039 --> 00:30:59.200
And so it's just this is this is why.
00:30:59.359 --> 00:31:04.400
And it's it's not a problem unless you don't understand.
00:31:04.559 --> 00:31:07.920
Once you understand the drivers and how we're wired, then it makes sense.
00:31:08.079 --> 00:31:18.240
And so what I do, Myrna, is create systems and frameworks for men to help see past their wiring and to help connect with their wife on an emotional level, right?
00:31:18.480 --> 00:31:24.400
So, for example, I talked about that attraction triangle, the the need to feel seen, heard, and safe.
00:31:24.559 --> 00:31:27.359
So, all three of those needs can be broken down.
00:31:27.759 --> 00:31:52.640
Anyways, I just teach men about the core needs of their wife and then how to flip that switch when they come home so that they're not going into fix it mode, so that they're learnt learning that the most important thing that they can do when they get through the front door is to just to not check their emails, to not walk past their wife, but put the phone down and make a deposit emotionally to connect with her on an emotional level.
00:31:52.720 --> 00:31:53.839
And then everything else comes after.
00:31:54.079 --> 00:31:56.559
The kids come after a lot of the emails come after whatever.
00:31:56.799 --> 00:32:00.880
But like that singular transaction is huge.
00:32:01.039 --> 00:32:04.160
What are you doing in that first five minutes when you get through the door?
00:32:04.240 --> 00:32:07.039
And how are you connecting with your wife on that deep emotional level?
00:32:07.200 --> 00:32:10.559
So if she feels seeing her safe, does that make sense?
00:32:11.039 --> 00:32:13.119
Yeah, that makes so much sense.
00:32:13.200 --> 00:32:20.240
But I will tell you that, yes, uh, as women are in trouble, because how many people are going to be going to your program?
00:32:22.000 --> 00:32:22.880
You know what I'm saying?
00:32:23.599 --> 00:32:30.880
Because I am I'm going through, you know, my experiences, and uh that is exactly it, you know.
00:32:31.039 --> 00:32:39.920
Um, yeah, men don't seem to, you know, know to express themselves if you ask them how they're feeling.
00:32:40.079 --> 00:32:42.799
They're not even really in touch with their feelings.
00:32:43.039 --> 00:32:52.079
But you're right, uh the alpha male is driven to um to achieve and to be great at work and to get respect.
00:32:52.160 --> 00:32:54.400
And and we all know we have to respect them.
00:32:54.480 --> 00:32:55.519
And I love what you said.
00:32:55.599 --> 00:33:12.640
I mean, they're thinking she's not disrespecting him when he walk in, but I understand where you're saying now because yes, if she's not feeling seen or heard, or she thinks he's broken or unemotionally available, that so many of them are, then she might start saying things that hurts his feelings.
00:33:13.119 --> 00:33:15.519
And that's where the disrespect comes in.
00:33:15.759 --> 00:33:27.359
So I I I understand um better now, but wow, but that was great for me um uh to learn um to understand that.
00:33:27.759 --> 00:33:28.000
Yeah.
00:33:28.160 --> 00:33:30.319
Can I give you a couple more simple things there?
00:33:30.480 --> 00:33:30.960
What was that?
00:33:31.680 --> 00:33:39.279
I'll give can I give you a couple simple um uh practical things that they can do, husbands can do and wives can do to sort of bridge this gap?
00:33:40.319 --> 00:33:50.400
So, one of the first questions as a husband, if this is something that's new to you and you and you feel like I don't even know where to start, you know, when when it comes to connecting with my wife, I don't even know how to stop providing solutions.
00:33:50.720 --> 00:34:00.480
One one simple question that you can ask is when you come home and your wife starts talking about to you about her day, number one, she's she's giving you her heart, right?
00:34:00.559 --> 00:34:02.960
She's she's she's saying, Hey, can I trust him with this?
00:34:03.119 --> 00:34:09.840
I want to tell him about my feelings, because you know, this can this emotional connection is like oxygen, you know, to a woman's soul, right?
00:34:10.159 --> 00:34:17.760
And so the one simple question a man can ask is whenever his wife starts talking, simply just say, Hey, hey, hold on a second, babe.
00:34:17.920 --> 00:34:23.519
Um, before we jump too far into this, is this something where you want me to help you fix it?
00:34:24.000 --> 00:34:25.920
Or is this are you just wanted to listen?
00:34:26.239 --> 00:34:28.079
All right, okay, you let me know.
00:34:28.559 --> 00:34:30.000
Because here's what this does.
00:34:30.320 --> 00:34:32.559
It simultaneously says to his wife, hey, I'm listening.
00:34:33.119 --> 00:34:35.039
So it checks off that oh, he hears me.
00:34:35.519 --> 00:34:36.079
He sees me.
00:34:36.480 --> 00:34:36.880
That's great.
00:34:36.960 --> 00:34:38.400
It's a great psychological sign.
00:34:38.559 --> 00:34:40.480
But for the man, it turns it into a mission.
00:34:40.880 --> 00:34:42.239
It's like, okay, game on.
00:34:42.400 --> 00:34:43.280
What do I need to do?
00:34:43.440 --> 00:34:45.599
Okay, well, I just want to she just wants me to listen.
00:34:45.840 --> 00:34:46.800
Sweet, pressure off.
00:34:46.880 --> 00:34:48.480
I'm just gonna, I'm just gonna walk in.
00:34:48.880 --> 00:34:52.480
Or if she says, I actually, you know what, babe, I do want you to fix it.
00:34:52.800 --> 00:34:53.599
All right, let's go.
00:34:53.679 --> 00:34:54.960
I'm gonna provide a solution.
00:34:55.360 --> 00:35:04.400
But just one simple, simple question can change that trajectory, that conversation where where all of a sudden what would have been, well, I don't need you to fit why you blah blah blah.
00:35:04.480 --> 00:35:07.360
And then he feels disrespected and it turns into a flight, it mitigates all that.
00:35:07.519 --> 00:35:07.599
Right.
00:35:07.760 --> 00:35:10.559
Because then she gives him the instructions on how to respond.
00:35:10.880 --> 00:35:11.199
Right.
00:35:11.360 --> 00:35:14.000
And him by asking that question tells her that he's invested.
00:35:14.960 --> 00:35:23.199
Second thing um you can do is is when you start to get to that place where you're having this conversation and you're learning to connect.
00:35:23.679 --> 00:35:31.840
We talk about um that the man's need to feel uh respected and competent, and and the wife's need to feel seen, heard, and safe.
00:35:32.320 --> 00:35:35.679
Um a beautiful thing you can do is have a conversation.
00:35:35.840 --> 00:35:36.639
I get this.
00:35:36.719 --> 00:35:46.079
I when I explain the breakdown of those three needs of a woman to a man, um I usually get the man to go to have a conversation with his wife.
00:35:46.320 --> 00:35:56.400
Maybe they want to go out on a date, pour up a glass of wine, put the kids down, whatever, and say, hey honey, what does it make what does it look like to make you feel more seen in our home, in our relationship?
00:35:57.039 --> 00:35:58.079
And let her answer.
00:35:58.400 --> 00:35:58.639
Right?
00:35:58.880 --> 00:36:01.519
What is it what does it look like to make you feel more heard?
00:36:01.840 --> 00:36:04.480
Where what are areas where you don't feel like I'm hearing you?
00:36:04.880 --> 00:36:11.440
And lastly, what is it what does it look like to make you feel more safe with me, with us, in our home, whatever?
00:36:11.760 --> 00:36:15.360
And and I say this all the time, she's giving you the playbook.
00:36:15.840 --> 00:36:18.719
She is the coach, she's telling you exactly what she wants.
00:36:18.800 --> 00:36:21.599
So take notes, write it down, and follow through.
00:36:21.760 --> 00:36:23.039
Turn it into a mission, right?
00:36:23.280 --> 00:36:26.320
Now on the flip side, he gets all that information.
00:36:26.480 --> 00:36:27.360
That's awesome.
00:36:28.079 --> 00:36:39.440
If a woman can say to her husband, honey, what is it, what does it look like to make you feel more competent as a husband, as a father, you know, as a as a leader, what does it look like to respect you?
00:36:39.599 --> 00:36:41.679
Or how have I disrespected you in the past?
00:36:41.920 --> 00:36:44.960
What are things that I do that make you feel disrespected?
00:36:45.119 --> 00:36:45.440
Right?
00:36:45.519 --> 00:36:53.199
And and and and honestly, and and share that in a safe place where you both swear that you're not gonna get defensive, you make a deal.
00:36:53.360 --> 00:36:55.199
Um, but that's that's the idea.
00:36:55.360 --> 00:37:08.320
And and if if a wife can have that approach with this husband or with her husband, and a husband can have that approach, or my mission is to meet your three needs, and her mission is that it's a your your marriage can transform you know in a week, right?
00:37:08.400 --> 00:37:10.320
If you if you're intentional about that.
00:37:10.480 --> 00:37:16.159
And I say to women that I say this to women all the time stop telling your husband you love him.
00:37:16.639 --> 00:37:18.400
It doesn't really mean a whole lot to us.
00:37:18.559 --> 00:37:18.960
All right.
00:37:19.039 --> 00:37:21.440
I get into trouble for saying this all the time.
00:37:21.840 --> 00:37:23.039
He doesn't need to hear it.
00:37:23.280 --> 00:37:24.800
You know what he would love to hear?
00:37:24.960 --> 00:37:31.199
And you know, the most powerful thing you can say to your husband is, I believe in you, I think you're incredible.
00:37:31.360 --> 00:37:32.800
You are a phenomenal reader.
00:37:32.960 --> 00:37:35.920
I'm so proud of the man that you are, and and I'm so proud of you.
00:37:36.159 --> 00:37:36.719
That's a good one.
00:37:36.960 --> 00:37:37.519
That's a good one.
00:37:38.880 --> 00:37:40.079
You're an incredible father.
00:37:40.239 --> 00:37:46.880
What is the what is it is communicating respect, it's communicating competency, forget this, right?
00:37:47.119 --> 00:37:49.760
Right, forget that throw it out.
00:37:49.920 --> 00:37:50.400
We don't need to.
00:37:50.880 --> 00:38:00.000
Yeah, well, you know, it's it's really interesting, and I know personally, when I wrote my book, my pastor said to me that he was so proud of me.
00:38:00.239 --> 00:38:12.079
And that was the first time I had a heard a man say that because my father never said that, and now I know it is what what everybody needs because I remember how good it felt for me.
00:38:12.320 --> 00:38:22.559
So now, you know, even my friend just opened up a school a couple of days ago, and the first thing I said to her, I'm proud of you, because I know how great that feels.
00:38:22.719 --> 00:38:26.159
So, yeah, saying that to your man is powerful.
00:38:26.320 --> 00:38:27.039
I like that.
00:38:27.280 --> 00:38:32.880
And he can live off of that one comment for six months, right?
00:38:33.119 --> 00:38:39.039
Yeah, but it's especially if he thinks you mean it, because some people can you know teach you bullshit.
00:38:39.360 --> 00:38:44.000
No, but I tell you what, if you start communicating a little bit, but if you think you mean it, yeah.
00:38:44.320 --> 00:38:48.079
You watch him soften up and all of a sudden want to meet your needs, yeah, right?
00:38:48.159 --> 00:38:48.719
It's crazy.
00:38:49.920 --> 00:38:52.320
Yeah, you know, hopefully that makes sense.
00:38:52.559 --> 00:38:53.920
No, it makes a lot of sense.
00:38:54.079 --> 00:38:56.559
Actually, that's pretty powerful what you said.
00:38:56.800 --> 00:39:02.079
So the the woman can ask, the man can ask the woman, what makes her feel seen.
00:39:02.159 --> 00:39:15.679
And um, I bet if I asked, I mean, uh just a couple of days ago, I was having a conversation about the, you know, what um what most marriages have a problem with is communication.
00:39:15.840 --> 00:39:20.239
This is and you know, and I and I said communication is beaten to debt.
00:39:20.400 --> 00:39:30.000
Everybody throws it out there, communication and money, but you have to have real communication, not hey honey, what what are you doing tonight or where do you want to go?
00:39:30.239 --> 00:39:32.559
This is real communication, you know what I mean?
00:39:32.719 --> 00:39:37.199
This is debt, getting into people's feelings, getting into change.
00:39:37.360 --> 00:39:38.800
That's what you just talked about.
00:39:39.119 --> 00:39:49.039
Transformation, because he's asking his wife, she's gonna tell him, then she asks him back, he's gonna tell her, and and then they do it.
00:39:49.760 --> 00:39:50.800
You know what I mean?
00:39:51.039 --> 00:39:55.039
Then they have to do it, and that is that is very powerful.
00:39:55.199 --> 00:39:56.559
I'm gonna try it.
00:39:56.960 --> 00:40:00.480
Do it, you know, and I'm gonna I'm gonna try it.
00:40:00.639 --> 00:40:10.000
So uh this is great because I have one of those men that um you know he doesn't like to talk, you know, very unemotionally available.
00:40:10.239 --> 00:40:12.320
So I don't even bother with him anymore.
00:40:12.400 --> 00:40:15.599
I just, you know, when I want to talk, I call my daughter.
00:40:16.000 --> 00:40:17.119
Well, yeah, but you know what?
00:40:17.199 --> 00:40:20.000
Try try asking him about his job, right?
00:40:20.320 --> 00:40:20.960
Try asking him.
00:40:21.360 --> 00:40:24.400
He doesn't want to talk about his job because he says, I do the same thing every day.
00:40:24.559 --> 00:40:25.679
I still I tried that.
00:40:25.760 --> 00:40:27.679
I want to talk, he doesn't want to talk about his job.
00:40:27.840 --> 00:40:33.039
When he comes home, he wants to relax, you know, and um doesn't want to hear me babbling.
00:40:33.679 --> 00:40:34.400
But exactly.
00:40:34.559 --> 00:40:35.599
Here's the thing, right?
00:40:35.679 --> 00:40:39.360
Like we're not driven by emotions, we're not driven to emotionally connect.
00:40:39.519 --> 00:40:44.239
And so I'll say a lot of times to my clients, I'm like, your wife wants to talk just for the sake of talking.
00:40:44.400 --> 00:40:46.880
Like, there's no agenda, they just they just can't connect.
00:40:46.960 --> 00:40:51.440
And to a husband, that does it just you can see their brain is just smoking because they're like, What do you mean?
00:40:52.480 --> 00:40:54.719
There's no agenda, there's no final point.
00:40:55.039 --> 00:40:55.840
What's the point?
00:40:56.000 --> 00:40:59.199
Right, and so we just are not wired that way.
00:40:59.440 --> 00:41:02.559
Men are doers, they're not really talkers in that sense.
00:41:02.800 --> 00:41:20.320
And so I thought, again, caveat, there are some very emotional men and men are very very emotionally intelligent, which is great, but the vast majority of men, this is the way we are wired, and so this is why so much of my coaching is tactical and very, very practical because you talked, you just said it.
00:41:20.559 --> 00:41:23.119
All we do is we talk about communication and feelings.
00:41:23.280 --> 00:41:24.320
Well, what does that even mean?
00:41:24.480 --> 00:41:31.599
Like the moment I start talking about um like using therapeutic language, like we just gotta process and we gotta talk about this.
00:41:31.679 --> 00:41:38.239
We're gonna sit in a circle, we're gonna, you know, the guys are just like just way over their head, like I have no idea the glaze over, right?
00:41:38.320 --> 00:41:43.360
So it's like we don't, we don't like men don't want to do that, they want strategies, they want tactics.
00:41:43.440 --> 00:41:45.360
They what can I do about this?
00:41:45.519 --> 00:41:49.199
And this is why so much of my work was built up in around frameworks and systems.
00:41:49.440 --> 00:41:51.440
When your wife says this, this is how you respond.
00:41:51.599 --> 00:41:56.320
This is the acronym, this is the framework, this is the tool, because that's what we need at the end of the day.
00:41:56.400 --> 00:41:58.960
We don't want to sit around in a circle, talk about our feelings, right?
00:41:59.119 --> 00:42:01.039
And so it is is what it is.
00:42:01.360 --> 00:42:09.199
90% of the men in my programs have already been through therapy and it didn't work for them because they didn't just sit around and talk.
00:42:09.280 --> 00:42:09.519
Yes.
00:42:09.840 --> 00:42:12.000
That wasn't a model that they were comfortable with, right?
00:42:12.079 --> 00:42:12.639
Right, right, right.
00:42:12.960 --> 00:42:15.360
And I said, Hey man, here's the attraction triangle.
00:42:15.440 --> 00:42:16.800
Here are the three core needs of your wife.
00:42:16.960 --> 00:42:20.159
She needs to feel seen, her safe, and here are here's how you can do that.
00:42:20.400 --> 00:42:23.519
Her need to feel safe is broken up into four quadrants.
00:42:23.679 --> 00:42:28.239
She needs to feel emotionally safe, relationally safe, financially safe, and physically safe.
00:42:28.480 --> 00:42:34.400
Okay, here's how you meet those four points of safety, and they eat it up because they're like, Oh, I can do something with this.
00:42:34.639 --> 00:42:37.840
Yeah, because they like to do, yes, they're doing so.
00:42:37.920 --> 00:42:41.760
That's why they like strategies, and they're like, that's actually pretty good.
00:42:41.840 --> 00:42:43.679
Yeah, I like that.
00:42:44.400 --> 00:42:51.519
So, um, you said about men are wired a certain way, and you you talked about nature versus nurture.
00:42:51.840 --> 00:43:01.360
So, how does childhood programming um fit in to um uh these family dynamics and cultural expectations?
00:43:01.519 --> 00:43:06.880
And you know, you does your program help change these patterns?
00:43:07.199 --> 00:43:08.000
Oh, yeah, 100%.
00:43:08.320 --> 00:43:14.320
I've got something called the mindset matrix, um, which is in my um third module that deals with your emotions and your psychology.
00:43:14.480 --> 00:43:24.400
But the mindset matrix is this three three-dimensional look on why, like how you think or why you think the way you do, how you think, and really kind of extracting some of those embedded beliefs.
00:43:24.559 --> 00:43:28.400
And and the three-dimensional look is the past, the present, and the future, right?
00:43:28.559 --> 00:43:30.000
And so we look at the past, okay.
00:43:30.079 --> 00:43:31.280
Well, what what happened?
00:43:31.360 --> 00:43:33.599
What where where were some of these triggers for you?
00:43:33.760 --> 00:43:38.480
What where were, you know, what was your um what was your in male influence, right?
00:43:38.800 --> 00:43:40.960
How did he teach you about emotional connection?
00:43:41.119 --> 00:43:42.000
What does that look like?
00:43:42.159 --> 00:43:44.960
Did you feel safe, you know, as a young boy, and all these different things?
00:43:45.119 --> 00:43:46.880
And then the present, what's your current reality?
00:43:46.960 --> 00:43:47.840
And then, of course, coaching.
00:43:47.920 --> 00:43:50.480
And that's what I love about coaching, it's always future focused.
00:43:50.639 --> 00:43:59.679
Okay, now that you understand where you came from and you've and you've kind of given this new, you've re rebuilt it in a way that serves you, you know, and you understand.
00:44:00.159 --> 00:44:04.239
Who you are now, then let's create a strategic plan as to where you want to go, right?
00:44:04.480 --> 00:44:09.519
And so the reality is for a lot of men, Myrna, is yeah, we're not wired that way.
00:44:09.599 --> 00:44:13.440
Um, you know, when I said nature, which is great, is fine.
00:44:13.679 --> 00:44:20.480
But we've also let's talk about the nurture, like you were just you're just saying, like uh let's think about uh you know, World War II.
00:44:20.639 --> 00:44:36.639
I mean, we're just a few generations removed from from something like that, which which you know, millions of men came home and and and and saw things that no man should ever see, you know, um, and had no tools really to to process it and to deal with it.
00:44:36.800 --> 00:44:40.639
And they had the bottle, you know, they had the VA, they had whatever, but like that's about it.
00:44:40.800 --> 00:44:43.360
And so what they did was they didn't talk about it, right?
00:44:43.440 --> 00:44:46.639
They stuffed it down because real men don't cry, I mean, just deal with it, right?
00:44:46.800 --> 00:44:51.199
And so those men raised boys and they didn't model this for them, right?
00:44:51.280 --> 00:44:59.760
Because they didn't have the tools, and those boys grew up to be men and raised more boys, which is myself and maybe another generation.
00:44:59.920 --> 00:45:07.440
Um, but we're just like two, three generations removed from extreme, extreme trauma and suppression of our emotions.
00:45:07.599 --> 00:45:09.440
And so are we wired that way?
00:45:09.599 --> 00:45:17.840
Yes, we are, because of the like we talked about normative male oxythonia, but then we're also conditioned that way because the vast majority of us have not had a good role model, right?
00:45:18.079 --> 00:45:23.920
And the reality is mass, and I get in trouble for saying this all the time, but masculinity cannot be taught.
00:45:24.480 --> 00:45:25.360
It has to be taught.
00:45:26.400 --> 00:45:28.079
You have you can't you have to catch it.
00:45:28.320 --> 00:45:28.800
I like that.
00:45:29.119 --> 00:45:37.599
Yeah, a bunch of right women can't women can't teach men how or women can't teach a young boy how to be masculine.
00:45:38.800 --> 00:45:43.280
Even men can't teach it, they have to catch it, they have to model it.
00:45:43.760 --> 00:45:45.760
Yeah, boys have to catch it.
00:45:46.559 --> 00:45:53.119
Living in close proximity with small, courageous, compassionate men who are you know what I mean?
00:45:53.440 --> 00:45:55.039
And so that's how they get it.
00:45:55.199 --> 00:46:00.239
And the vast majority of us of men have never caught a good message.
00:46:00.480 --> 00:46:06.239
No, so this is because in the olden days uh it was not any kind of the men didn't ask their wives.
00:46:06.400 --> 00:46:08.639
How can I help you be seen?
00:46:08.800 --> 00:46:13.280
They just they just went to work and brought the money, and that's all they did.
00:46:13.599 --> 00:46:15.199
Exactly, exactly, right?
00:46:15.280 --> 00:46:38.639
And now you got maybe a couple a couple decades in, and now all of a sudden men have to be emotionally aware and and sensitive and and intelligent, which is great tools for us to learn, but you got to remember we come from a long lineage of uh a lack of tools, a lack of resources, a lack of education, and the wiring is just not it's just not natural, and so um that's that's why we find ourselves in this situation, right?
00:46:38.719 --> 00:46:46.480
But but when we use some of these frameworks like that question, hey, is this hey honey, is this something you you want me to do where you want me to do something about this, or you just want me to listen?
00:46:46.639 --> 00:46:49.039
Or hey, how can I make you feel more seen, heard safe?
00:46:49.119 --> 00:46:55.679
And her asking that question about respected and competent, like these are just tools to help you understand the wiring of your husband and the wiring of your wife.
00:46:56.079 --> 00:46:56.719
That's a good start.
00:46:56.800 --> 00:46:58.880
That's it's a great start, yes, right?
00:46:59.039 --> 00:47:00.000
It's a great start.
00:47:00.480 --> 00:47:01.760
And I mean it might be a good idea.
00:47:02.719 --> 00:47:14.159
And it also makes your husband know that you want the marriage to work, or you you're interested in what he thinks, and it's that's deep, it's psychological.
00:47:14.320 --> 00:47:15.360
That's deep, right?
00:47:15.599 --> 00:47:17.199
Yeah, well, and it works.
00:47:17.519 --> 00:47:18.480
It works, you know.
00:47:18.559 --> 00:47:20.639
Um yeah, I I can I can see it working.
00:47:20.719 --> 00:47:22.239
I told you, I'm gonna try it.
00:47:24.239 --> 00:47:30.400
My when my wife, when my wife says things like, I'm so proud of you, like you're an incredible leader.
00:47:30.719 --> 00:47:32.000
I mean, I'm feeling it.
00:47:32.239 --> 00:47:34.639
It's a beautiful thing to say, right?
00:47:34.960 --> 00:47:37.119
Especially if you know she means it.
00:47:37.519 --> 00:47:38.079
Yeah.
00:47:38.320 --> 00:47:43.840
Or to like the the word encourage, the word encourage literally means to inspire courage.
00:47:44.000 --> 00:47:51.679
So to say to your man something like, You can do this, like I I know you're gonna crush this, is just like, whoo, that puts air in his tank.
00:47:51.840 --> 00:47:53.039
Like it's it's amazing.
00:47:53.199 --> 00:47:54.880
Anytime a man says anything like that.
00:47:55.119 --> 00:47:58.800
I you know, my husband doesn't do good with compliments, but I I try that.
00:47:58.880 --> 00:48:03.599
And and I mean when I mean it, you know, because he works very hard at work and he does an exceptional job.
00:48:03.679 --> 00:48:06.000
And I, you know, I tell him things like that.
00:48:06.239 --> 00:48:12.639
You know, I'm not sure if I use the word I'm proud of you, but I'm I say that you are, you know, you're exceptional.
00:48:12.800 --> 00:48:18.320
You um that you do an awesome job and you're built for this job or something like that.
00:48:18.400 --> 00:48:20.960
Those, you know, but I I understand what you're trying to say.
00:48:21.119 --> 00:48:22.400
Make them feel real good.
00:48:23.199 --> 00:48:28.639
And here's the thing they may not they may not respond the way you think they should.
00:48:28.800 --> 00:48:38.639
So if you do something that you say, you say words of encouragement or respect for installing competence, and they don't if they don't gush and be like, oh honey, thank you so much for supporting it.
00:48:38.719 --> 00:48:39.679
It means the world to me.
00:48:39.840 --> 00:48:43.679
And they're just like they just kind of like take it and they just don't really process it much.
00:48:43.840 --> 00:48:45.039
No, it doesn't respond.
00:48:45.519 --> 00:48:47.519
But that's the thing, you but they're hearing right.
00:48:47.679 --> 00:48:52.480
Yeah, you can't let that throw you off because remember, they don't have that emotional intelligence like you do.
00:48:52.800 --> 00:48:53.679
So they don't even need to be able to do it.
00:48:53.840 --> 00:48:54.960
They don't have the words, right?
00:48:55.119 --> 00:49:03.920
They don't have the words, and they don't know how to express if even if they are grateful, which they are, trust me, they are you will fill their bucket, but they won't even know how to respond.
00:49:04.000 --> 00:49:12.480
So the worst thing you can do, the button, the worst thing you can do is is is is say something like that, like, I believe in you, you're incredible, blah, blah, blah, blah.
00:49:12.719 --> 00:49:14.719
And then all of a sudden they don't respond the way you want to.
00:49:14.800 --> 00:49:16.000
I'm like, what's wrong with you?
00:49:16.079 --> 00:49:17.360
Why can't you just say thank you?
00:49:17.519 --> 00:49:17.760
Right?
00:49:17.840 --> 00:49:20.719
Because that just retracts everything you just said.
00:49:22.079 --> 00:49:23.039
Happens all the time.
00:49:23.280 --> 00:49:26.639
Well, I might have done that in the olden days, but I don't do that now.
00:49:26.800 --> 00:49:29.119
Yeah, you know, because I'm accustomed to it.
00:49:29.280 --> 00:49:31.119
But I want to ask you a question, though.
00:49:31.280 --> 00:49:50.159
That um, so we're talking about men that are not wired to talk and respond and be they're um unemotionally available, emotionally unavailable, which is the mass majority of them, but there's some that maybe start to talk and then they shut down.
00:49:50.320 --> 00:49:54.480
So, what is it that women do to make men shut down?
00:49:54.960 --> 00:49:56.000
They talk too much.
00:49:56.800 --> 00:49:59.199
They talk too much, they talk too much, yeah.
00:49:59.280 --> 00:50:02.000
And and and I don't mean any dis disrespect by this.
00:50:02.079 --> 00:50:15.599
I'm using general generalization because they're so invested emotionally, because they love, because they care, because they want to nurture, they want to embrace, they they want to connect emotionally, they talk and they start, and it just goes and goes and goes, and it's overwhelming.
00:50:15.760 --> 00:50:17.199
It's so overwhelming for a man.
00:50:17.519 --> 00:50:25.920
And so you you have to just let them sit and just let them just slowly draw them out, and it's excruciating for a woman who has this a level of emotional intelligence.
00:50:26.000 --> 00:50:26.960
It's it's painful.
00:50:27.119 --> 00:50:38.480
But at the end of the day, what happens is we say, Okay, we're gonna help them, we're gonna help them, but then we just kind of start talking and going and going, and then what happens is he gets overwhelmed and he didn't even know where to begin and he shuts down, right?
00:50:38.639 --> 00:50:42.159
Yeah, the very fact that he even attempted is huge.
00:50:42.320 --> 00:50:50.800
But then what happens is women come in and sort of stomp all over it, kind of in the way that a husband brings a solution that you're not looking for, it's the same kind of thing.
00:50:50.880 --> 00:50:54.400
It's like you asked me to talk, but then you just talk a lot, and now I die, I don't know.
00:50:54.480 --> 00:50:56.400
I there's no space for me, right?
00:50:58.880 --> 00:51:00.320
Wow, wow, that's good.
00:51:00.400 --> 00:51:01.760
My husband tells me that all the time.
00:51:01.920 --> 00:51:04.480
I need to shut up exactly, right?
00:51:04.559 --> 00:51:07.760
And so that's a sign that maybe maybe you've just been talking a little too much.
00:51:08.000 --> 00:51:08.639
Yeah, that's right.
00:51:11.360 --> 00:51:13.519
And that's not I don't mean any disrespect to any women.
00:51:13.840 --> 00:51:14.800
No, it's not disrespect.
00:51:14.880 --> 00:51:15.920
Listen, we're here to learn, right?
00:51:16.079 --> 00:51:18.800
We're having a conversation about men.
00:51:19.599 --> 00:51:25.760
It's because it's your wiring and and it's beautiful, the feminine is beautiful, and the masculine is amazing.
00:51:25.920 --> 00:51:31.199
And when they're both operating in tandem like they're supposed to, it's it's it's incredible.
00:51:31.360 --> 00:51:47.440
And and when your children get a beautiful combination of the assertiveness, of the drive, of the logic, of the uh the mission that of uh of the masculine, but also the the intuition and the a connection and the warmth and the nurturing of the feminine together.
00:51:47.599 --> 00:51:48.800
Oh, it's amazing.
00:51:48.880 --> 00:51:49.840
That's why we call a stable.
00:51:51.599 --> 00:51:52.719
It's beautiful.
00:51:52.960 --> 00:51:59.119
Yeah, those are in um uh their those type of homes are in short demand.
00:52:00.159 --> 00:52:02.079
They're there's not a lot of them.
00:52:02.320 --> 00:52:04.079
Um awesome, awesome, awesome.
00:52:04.159 --> 00:52:11.119
Well, I enjoyed this conversation because I love talking about men, I love understanding how their mind works.
00:52:11.360 --> 00:52:18.639
Um, it's my favorite thing to do is to talk about men and and and how they're different and how we can connect with them.
00:52:18.800 --> 00:52:20.639
And so this was a great conversation.
00:52:20.800 --> 00:52:23.679
So tell us about your Dad Nation podcast.
00:52:23.920 --> 00:52:26.880
Do you interview guests or is it solo print?
00:52:27.119 --> 00:52:36.960
Is this if it's solo, um, tell our listeners how they can connect with you after this interview, your website and your your coaching programs, things like that.
00:52:37.280 --> 00:52:38.079
Yeah, for sure.
00:52:38.159 --> 00:52:43.039
Yeah, I'm just um I mean, thank you for asking, and I really appreciate it.
00:52:43.199 --> 00:52:50.000
Um, my my podcast is called the Dad Nature Podcast, and this is what we talk about in every single episode.
00:52:50.079 --> 00:52:51.119
So it's bi-weekly.
00:52:51.199 --> 00:52:55.920
So one week I do solo teaching, the next week I bring in an industry expert or you know, whatever.
00:52:56.079 --> 00:53:02.960
We brought in neurologists, doctors, famous authors, relationship experts, psychologists, all kinds of stuff.
00:53:03.039 --> 00:53:08.880
Um, and we talk about everything and anything that would challenge you as a man, as a husband, and as a father.
00:53:09.039 --> 00:53:19.679
And we get into parenting, you know, relationships, marriage, fitness, business, money, like literally everything that would that would cause a man any way that he would want to grow.
00:53:19.760 --> 00:53:21.119
You know, it's it's powerful.
00:53:21.360 --> 00:53:22.960
And uh, so that's the podcast.
00:53:23.039 --> 00:53:25.599
And again, the same thing, it's very tactical.
00:53:25.760 --> 00:53:33.199
There's a there's a powerful framework in every single episode that I teach because again, it's all about what can I take away from this, what can I do, right?
00:53:33.599 --> 00:53:42.079
Um, and then I'll tell you what, a free gift that I'd love to give your listeners is uh just something called that framework that I just talked about, the attraction triangle.
00:53:42.800 --> 00:53:49.920
Now, if you just go to dadnationco.com forward slash triangle, and I'll give you the link that you can put in the show notes.
00:53:50.159 --> 00:53:52.480
But it's it it's this model broken down.
00:53:52.559 --> 00:53:56.639
Your your wife's core three core needs to feel seen, to feel heard, and to feel safe.
00:53:56.800 --> 00:53:59.840
And again, even in those three, there's quadrants, right?
00:53:59.920 --> 00:54:04.639
And so it very much explains if you can understand these three pieces.
00:54:04.880 --> 00:54:13.119
Oh my goodness, it's she will feel I've had women email me personally, like after their husbands have learned this and been like, Thank you so much.
00:54:13.280 --> 00:54:14.960
I don't even know who this man is anymore.
00:54:15.039 --> 00:54:16.239
You know, like he's amazing.
00:54:16.480 --> 00:54:22.320
So yeah, if you go to that, uh link and you can put it in the show notes below, it's my free gift to you just for just listening today.
00:54:22.559 --> 00:54:25.920
Um, and then yeah, the the coaching piece, I do group coaching.
00:54:26.000 --> 00:54:29.360
Um, it's called the high performance husband accelerator.
00:54:29.599 --> 00:54:34.159
And what men do is they sign up for 12 months and we journey together for an entire year.
00:54:34.400 --> 00:54:39.920
It's mentorship, it's like what we just talked about information, implementation, and community or accountability.
00:54:40.000 --> 00:54:41.599
Sorry, it's all those three pieces.
00:54:41.760 --> 00:54:47.440
I've got a training program, program in there, there's bi-weekly group coaching calls, and there's accountability.
00:54:47.599 --> 00:54:51.679
And we spend 12 months mentoring these guys and they just turn it all around.
00:54:51.840 --> 00:55:01.280
They lose fat, they pack on muscle, they turn their marriages around, they become confident, they see business breakthrough because they're showing up more powerfully on a personal level.
00:55:01.440 --> 00:55:05.599
And so, yeah, I mean, honestly, if you just Google Dad Nation or Google my name, you'll find me.
00:55:05.760 --> 00:55:07.679
Um, and then just I'd love to connect.
00:55:07.760 --> 00:55:17.199
If you're listening to this and you're uh you're a man and you're like, oh man, that feels like you you've been preaching my language, like you've been in my head, then let's have a conversation.
00:55:17.519 --> 00:55:18.079
Be happy to jump on.
00:55:19.679 --> 00:55:24.880
If you're listening and you know a man, which is 100% of you, um send on the podcast, all right.
00:55:25.199 --> 00:55:26.400
Yeah, that's great.
00:55:26.480 --> 00:55:29.039
I can think of a few people I'll be sending this to.
00:55:29.280 --> 00:55:32.239
So is your website dadnation.com?
00:55:32.480 --> 00:55:34.480
Yeah, sorry, dadnationco.com.
00:55:34.559 --> 00:55:34.719
Yeah.
00:55:34.960 --> 00:55:35.119
Co.
00:55:35.360 --> 00:55:35.519
Okay.
00:55:35.679 --> 00:55:37.199
Yeah, dadnationco.com.
00:55:37.280 --> 00:55:37.519
Yeah.
00:55:37.840 --> 00:55:38.239
All right.
00:55:38.480 --> 00:55:54.639
So I will uh, you know, have a um article on my conversation with Mitch on the my show page, which is myhelps.us, and I will have the link to the free gift, um, his website.
00:55:54.800 --> 00:55:56.880
And what are your social media handles?
00:55:57.199 --> 00:56:00.480
Just add dadnation co if you go on co-ho.
00:56:00.559 --> 00:56:01.519
That's where I hang out a lot.
00:56:01.679 --> 00:56:04.719
You can find me on LinkedIn and Facebook too, but I'm not I'm not there a ton.
00:56:04.800 --> 00:56:07.679
My Instagram is the big one that I'm that I'm on and YouTube as well.
00:56:07.760 --> 00:56:09.440
So everybody should be in Instagram.
00:56:09.519 --> 00:56:11.039
That's where I hang out the most too.
00:56:11.280 --> 00:56:11.840
Okay, all right.
00:56:11.920 --> 00:56:18.320
So yeah, so I will I will link out to your Instagram handle and your website.
00:56:18.639 --> 00:56:21.920
And um, thank you for offering the free gift.
00:56:22.079 --> 00:56:24.400
Um, yeah, because this is powerful.
00:56:24.480 --> 00:56:37.199
We you know, we're saying it's dad nation, but it's really wife nation, communicating, you know, communicating, having better husbands, having better relationships.
00:56:37.440 --> 00:56:47.599
And yeah, the um the family benefits, you know, the the nucleus of the family benefits because yeah, we get rid of those 80% of divorces.
00:56:47.679 --> 00:56:49.119
So yeah, that's amazing.
00:56:49.199 --> 00:56:54.880
Uh yeah, I and I um I would say, Myrna, you know, if you don't mind me jumping in here, you're exactly right.
00:56:54.960 --> 00:56:59.760
And I wanted to jump on what you just said, uh, you know, how everyone benefits.
00:57:00.000 --> 00:57:03.280
I I say this in in the beginning of every single podcast episode.
00:57:03.440 --> 00:57:05.440
When the dad gets better, the whole family wins.
00:57:05.599 --> 00:57:12.079
And I say another sentence as well that this is not just for the men, this is for the women, the children, the and the generations to come.
00:57:12.239 --> 00:57:24.079
Because when a father steps in and gets these tools and resources and chain and improves his marriage and raises his kids in a loving, healthy home, man, then those kids grow up because they caught this.
00:57:24.320 --> 00:57:24.960
They caught it.
00:57:25.199 --> 00:57:25.920
Oh, I love that.
00:57:26.000 --> 00:57:27.760
I got that from you, and I'm gonna use it.
00:57:27.920 --> 00:57:30.559
Yeah, you can't teach, you they gotta catch it.
00:57:30.719 --> 00:57:31.280
I love it.
00:57:31.360 --> 00:57:32.079
Yeah, yeah.
00:57:32.239 --> 00:57:35.920
Masculinity can't be caught, or it can't be taught, it must be caught.
00:57:36.000 --> 00:57:36.239
Yeah.
00:57:36.480 --> 00:57:36.719
Yeah.
00:57:36.880 --> 00:57:39.920
I was just having a conversation about this just yesterday.
00:57:40.079 --> 00:57:42.400
Um, you know, with my son-in-law.
00:57:42.639 --> 00:57:43.519
Um, amazing.
00:57:43.679 --> 00:57:44.000
All right.
00:57:44.159 --> 00:57:46.960
Well, listen, um, what a powerful conversation.
00:57:47.119 --> 00:57:58.559
And one of the biggest takeaways for me is that emotional connection isn't just about being having a better marriage, it's about creating healthier families, healthier minds, and even healthier bodies.
00:57:58.719 --> 00:58:00.159
I like that you put that in there.
00:58:00.400 --> 00:58:03.679
When we understand each other better, we communicate better.
00:58:03.920 --> 00:58:10.880
When we communicate better, our stress levels decrease, our relationships flourish, and our overall well-being improves.
00:58:11.039 --> 00:58:15.519
You know, thank you, Mitch Mitchell, for being on the show and sharing your wisdom with us today.
00:58:15.679 --> 00:58:17.440
And thank everyone that's listening.
00:58:17.519 --> 00:58:24.880
And if you enjoyed this episode, please subscribe, leave a review, and share it with someone who could benefit from this conversation.
00:58:25.119 --> 00:58:28.639
And I know each and every one of you knows someone that you can send this to.
00:58:28.800 --> 00:58:33.679
I'm sitting here and I will, you know, I will send it off to my inner circle, right?
00:58:34.000 --> 00:58:39.679
Um, and remember, your greatest transformation always begins with transforming your mind.
00:58:40.480 --> 00:58:44.000
So, Mitch, thank you for being on the show.
00:58:44.239 --> 00:58:46.800
Thank you for this amazing conversation.
00:58:47.199 --> 00:58:55.599
And um, you know, yeah, I will um listen to your podcast too, because as a woman, I can learn, you know, to understand my man better too.
00:58:55.760 --> 00:58:57.280
So I love it.
00:58:57.440 --> 00:59:00.159
So as we wrap up, any final word?
00:59:00.880 --> 00:59:11.199
Yeah, no, I would just say um, don't if you're listening to this and you're a a a man and a husband and a father, just know there's a place for you in your family, you know.
00:59:11.280 --> 00:59:18.800
Uh no matter how far things are gone in your relationship or your, you know, how how far you feel like you've spiraled, there is a way back.
00:59:18.880 --> 00:59:22.239
Um, and I've I've helped hundreds and hundreds of men restore it.
00:59:22.320 --> 00:59:25.199
And so don't doubt for a second your significance in the home.
00:59:25.360 --> 00:59:28.960
Don't doubt for a second your significance as a father and as a husband.
00:59:29.119 --> 00:59:30.639
It is not too late.
00:59:30.880 --> 00:59:37.840
And uh, and I love this phrase, you know, this is an old uh Chinese proverb, but a lot of guys say, I think I missed the moment, I think it's too late.
00:59:38.079 --> 00:59:44.639
That old Chinese proverb says, the best time to plant an oak tree was 20 years ago, the next best time is today, right?
00:59:45.119 --> 00:59:46.719
So let's let's do it today.
00:59:46.880 --> 00:59:49.119
Um, thank you so much for having me on the show, Myrna.
00:59:49.199 --> 00:59:50.960
This has been an honor and a privilege.
00:59:51.360 --> 00:59:52.239
Yeah, yes.
00:59:52.559 --> 00:59:54.320
Thank you, Mitch, for being in the show.
00:59:54.400 --> 00:59:54.800
I love it.
00:59:54.880 --> 00:59:57.039
Like I said, it's one of my favorite things to do.
00:59:57.280 --> 01:00:00.559
Talk about how we can um have better relationships with men.
01:00:00.719 --> 01:00:02.960
I love it, and understanding them better.
01:00:03.199 --> 01:00:03.920
I love it.
01:00:04.079 --> 01:00:06.239
So thank you guys for tuning in.
01:00:06.480 --> 01:00:11.440
Until next time, stay healthy, stay curious, and keep transforming your mind.
01:00:11.599 --> 01:00:15.119
Thank you, Mitch, for being in the show, and um, we will connect.
01:00:15.760 --> 01:00:16.239
Thanks.
01:00:16.559 --> 01:00:17.360
Namaste.
