Joe: I'm doing well. And we still have a podcast, so that's an impressive feat. we're still here.
Paul: We're still here. We're still a few that listen. There's still a few that follow. Hey, thank you for everyone who does and who's doing all the stuff and following us. We appreciate the heck out of ya. we don't know how we got here all of a sudden. It seemed like it wasn't that long ago. We were so excited to get to week one and now we're staring down the barrel of the gun at the end of the year, everyone's positioning for playoffs. We're on week seven. We got Wednesday night games on a week seven. What in the world is going on with this world?
Joe: It's crazy. There's actually don't forget about a Tuesday night game that we have. some
Paul: Well
Joe: someone's gonna end their winless streak tonight. Saint Charles and Kenyon Wanamango are going at it as we speak.
Paul: Well right now we're right now we have Kenyon Wanamango is up eight to seven with
Joe: Okay.
Paul: three minutes left in the second quarter. Both teams are and six, so let's go. Somebody's getting a win tonight.
Joe: man, I'd have bet the farm on Saint Charles in this game and I still probably would. I mean they played they played Triton all the way to the to the limit and then also, you know, I feel like they played pretty decent last week, so
Paul: Well they hung forty nine on Triton. Why are they only
Joe: I know. I know.
Paul: got seven against Kenyon Wanamingo? I mean, don't get me wrong. I mean, maybe it's just a different setup here, but
Joe: They just wait for the second half. I think a lot of stuff happens in the second half. But but yeah,
Paul: Yeah, that second half's a whole different deal. Kenyon, you better be ready. Yep.
Joe: I mean here we are. It's week seven and things have kinda started to sort them things out. And man, what a what a fun season so far and and a bunch of great stuff that's getting ready to happen here that We're gonna take a shot at predicting and and be happy to sit here and and watch watch how it all plays out.
Paul: Yeah, absolutely. Well, and it's weird. we were talking, you know, what is the deal, you know? we've got the zero week, we've got the week seven with Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursdays, and then week eight with Wednesdays. And I don't know, is there maybe there's Tuesdays and Thursday games on week eight too that we're just not aware of, but it's it's
Joe: Yeah, well we we we're our Caledonia's gonna play, you know, we're gonna play tomorrow night on Wednesday. And then next week we're gonna play on Tuesday. So yeah. So
Paul: You are play Tuesday. Okay. Okay.
Joe: Carl I listened to an interview with Carl Fricte today and he said in thirty-seven years of coaching he's never played week seven during MEA. It's always been week eight. So
Paul: Yep. Yep.
Joe: so a little something different this year which kind of push which pushes everything back to that Thanksgiving prep bowl that we like. But that's just that's how it's working out this year.
Paul: It is. The nice thing was you would play your Wednesday game on week eight and if you had a buy, you probably had Saturday off for practice. So you got to go and do the youth deer hunt Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday and hunt all weekend and
Joe: A little bit, yeah. Maybe, you know, you might have missed a afternoon or an evening depending on the practice schedule, but you know.
Paul: Depending on the practice schedule, but you know, get to get out there and and go see if we could put some brown down. And and yeah, now it's just a different deal. It's a little it's a little crazier schedule, I think, for everyone. I gotta believe there's something to do with ref r you know, ref shortages, obviously. The schedule being the way it is, right? Like I think
Joe: A little bit, yeah. I mean these games there's yeah, yeah. The way they're scattered out a little bit, yeah.
Paul: Yeah, I think Labor Day was the latest it could possibly be this year. So you throw that in there and
Joe: Yeah.
Paul: yeah, you just got a whole kind of weird mess of stuff. But you know, it makes it hey, makes it fresh, makes it yeah.
Joe: Hey, we're gonna play the game. Everybody's gotta deal the same circumstances.
Paul: Exactly. Yep. And there's a whole whole bunch of fun things going on here kind of coming into the end of the season here, going into the playoffs. So
Joe: it's freaking great. I mean the you know, the forecast calls for a cooling down here a little bit. the leaves are dropping. We're heading into football weather for sure for Minnesota. And damn, I mean that's exciting right now. Let's see what all these teams got.
Paul: Well I don't know about you. I yeah, I have not worn pants to a game yet. So I have worn shorts to every game that I have gone to and I've been completely comfortable.
Joe: Well, I I yeah. Well, I put I put the pants on one night, you know, but I'm a little I'm a little more fit than you are. Might might not have enough, you know, insulation. So I had the pants on one night, but you know
Paul: Okay, okay. That's about enough. I maybe I got a little more installation yet, but maybe you're don't have as good a circulation as me since you're a little older than I am. But
Joe: That that's possible. That is possible.
Paul: yeah, that yeah, don't give me that crap. But I'm just a little tougher than you too. But
Joe: That's probably
Paul: but but yeah, but now I think that's done. I think this looks looks like here the next couple games no shorts will be w worn. to the game. So
Joe: Actually, you know, it looks it looks pretty nice next week. You know, I think we're gonna have some, you know, good weather for the you know next week's games. that Thursday game this week might get a little messy. It looks like there's some rain in the forecast, but then next week looks looks good again. So which is great. I mean let's play these games in nice weather and and see who's the best at you know what they're do the time. So
Paul: Yeah, yeah.
Joe: So no, I think right now we're sitting good weather wise. Mother Nature's doing her thing and and yeah, we'll just see how these games play out.
Paul: Yeah, I think we've turned into another n another nice fall here. We've gotten pretty lucky. I feel like we have the last few years, but never know what you're gonna get. But it's been pretty awesome and there's a lot to look forward to. A lot of a lot of interesting games coming up this week. a lot of games that we wanna cover. Well our few games from last week we wanna kinda just review real quickly for everybody and But before we get into everything, kind of a somber moment here. I just want to make sure that we throw a little love out to the Dawson Boyd community out there. had just one of the most you know horrific things happen to them here this week where they lost one of their one of their love players and love player love members of the community there, Carter Monaghan, in a in a car accident. And just one of the most devastating things that you just never, never want to imagine. And heartfelt condolences just go out to that whole entire community, the whole family, friends, coaches, everybody who you know, obviously cared for Carter and and just there's small towns out there, right? So things like this completely affect an entire community. So Hope you guys are feeling the love from from all the communities around you and there's nothing that can replace or or you know, somebody but or the words cannot express, you know, the pain that, you know, other people feel for you and it's just just unimaginable and and our hearts go out to Dawson Boyd out there.
Joe: Well, that's well said. I mean I'd we I've had a crazy busy weekend as you know and we're not gonna elaborate on that, but when you when you had pointed this out to me, it's just a kick in the nuts really to to us because we love that Dawson Boyd team and and we've we've we've we we didn't cover before, didn't know a lot about and this season we've we've fell we've fallen in love with that that community out there. And just tough, tough deal. And our thoughts and prayers and are with them guys and you know, hope they battle through the rest of the season and tough deal. I mean it's it's a very, very hard thing for their community and and our thoughts and prayers are with them. That's all we can really that's all we can really say.
Paul: Yep. Absolutely. And and I think they and hopefully they understand, yeah, the whole the whole state really, you know, when things like this happens, the whole state gets behind you as far as a football community and you know, you might stand on opposite sides of the field, you know, on a Friday night, but things like this happen together, you all stand, you know, arm in arm together and and support each other. So, just just hope everyone gets through it and know that everyone's behind you and and thinking about that community out there. So with that being said, I think we have some other games from last week that we kinda wanted to go over and and talk about some of our games the week from last week here. So we had a interesting week last week. It was the the roles were reversed a little bit here. The old Paul Ness Monster comes back in full force against again
Joe: Hey, nice to see. Nice to see you finally picked a few games right. I mean I think you had a few easy ones. I mean, geez, I mean, you you were
Paul: no, no.
Joe: beating me down over picking JCC, but you know, I mean I I could have picked these four teams easily enough. I mean, not not this wasn't even a struggle.
Paul: I don't know about that. I don't know about that. I listen, TCU. They're my that's my boys right there. That's my boys. That's my team. That's my ride or die, baby. Ride or
Joe: okay. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Okay.
Paul: die. Hey, they proved me right.
Joe: So what are you one in w are you one and three picking them right now? So
Paul: Yeah, yeah. Yeah. And it was and it was they had a tough time. I mean, they had to they had to go work for it. They were down in the fourth quarter and they come back and beat Saint Peter last week twenty one fourteen.
Joe: No no, no. They beat New Alm last week. They beat New Alm last week. They're gonna they're gonna beat
Paul: Or I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, Newall. Yep, sorry Saint Peter.
Joe: St. Peter this week just so you or no, they're gonna beat Fairmont this week. So they have Fairmont this week. They beat New Alm last week, right? So hey TCU
Paul: Yep. Yep. TCU beat New Alm. Sorry about that.
Joe: fans, I'm your guy. I'm your guy. Paul's just he's just talking over there. So
Paul: No. No, no, no, no. You
Joe: I've been with you guys the whole time.
Paul: Yeah. Yeah. Okay there, Jackson County Central. Go get back on your own bandwagon.
Joe: Hey, I picked him one time.
Paul: y well, yeah, yeah, I know, but you you basically wear the their cheerleader outfit everywhere you go, so
Joe: Yeah, all right. All right, get your get back in your comfort zone here and focus on what's going on.
Paul: I'm gonna I wanna just say I went TCU versus New Elm. TCU wins twenty one fourteen last week and which like I said they were they were down in the fourth quarter and so TCU comes from behind and they get they get They get the Eagles there and that's an impressive win, you know. Like I said, TCU's I am too.
Joe: Dude, I'm I'm I'm loving TCU. I'm loving them.
Paul: And and you know they've got I they've just gotten stronger as the years gone on. And it is. They're
Joe: Confidence is building. Yep. They're they're I like it.
Paul: feeling good, they're feeling real good right now. So hats off to TCU. That was a that was a great win. The other game that I was really excited about was that Zimbroda Mazeppa and Cotter game. And I kind of felt like that to me was as exciting of a game. as any because I as we talked last week, they were probably some of the two of the most evenly matched teams of any game last week. And
Joe: for sure.
Paul: and as far as you know offensive scoring power and then what they can do on defense. And man, they really kind of came out and showed it 'cause it was a tight game. It's twenty six twenty one, Zimbroda comes away with that win. But
Joe: Yeah, Boris performed again. I mean, he had a good game.
Paul: yeah. Yeah. Yep. Played real well. They're those guys and Zambrota's they're another team. You talk about TCU. Zambrota's getting more and more confidence as this year goes on.
Joe: They're gonna need it because this is probably a two versus three matchup, right? This is probably a semifinal section matchup because Pine Island's
Paul: Yeah, it is. Yep. Well
Joe: probably gonna lock up that other half and then it's gonna be it's gonna be Cotter and Cotter and ZM, right?
Paul: I think I think ZM has has has tied up that two seat.
Joe: The two spot, right? I mean that but it's two three. It's two versus three.
Paul: Yeah. Yep.
Joe: Cotter's gonna have to come up there and and try to beat CM at up in Zimbroda at the field up there. So it's
Paul: That's the whole deal.
Joe: it's pretty na it's a pretty cool matchup that these guys have Zimbroda's jumped in there this year and and they've been impressive.
Paul: Well, yeah, and you know, you look at with them in Pine Island, again, they only lost by ten. Cotter only lost by seven when they played Pine Island, but but I just think Zombroda they've they've really seemed to kinda come on here. And yeah, you got Tate Olsen, Hayden Voras, like those
Joe: yeah, they got something going. Yep. Yeah. Yeah.
Paul: guys, they're doing some things there and They're they're feeling good. And so I do too.
Joe: I like the I like it.
Paul: I do too. don't get me wrong, I I really still like Pine Island, but I do like Zimbrota. I do like Zambrota
Joe: yeah. Yeah.
Paul: Mazappa. the other game that I had that I that I did pick correctly was Marshall and Orno. this was a pretty you know, on paper. it's like man, this this could be a good game. Orno is the number one seed in for a And Marshall is th like I said, last week they were the I think we were talking about the seven or eight or nine. They were somewhere in there.
Joe: This is your this is your JCC pick right here.
Paul: It's yeah, a little bit. I don't know. Marshall's Marshall played with them. It was a twenty to seven finish there. And and it was a twenty to seven finish and Orno got And so I think that was a I think that's not a bad loss though on Marshall's part. Think about it. Orno beat Byron by a lot more than that. And
Joe: I don't think so either. I don't yeah. Yeah, I don't think so either. I don't think that sets Marshall back at all.
Paul: No, I don't either. And I think I think it only I think it only battle tests Marshall a little bit more going into playoffs here. Wilmer's feeling really good right now. I mean Hutchins got Hutchinson has a has a good game going into tomorrow night against Totino Grace. If they
Joe: Yeah.
Paul: win that, there's a three headed monster in foray section two that
Joe: Yeah, there is.
Paul: yeah, you know, and so I think that's gonna be freaking exciting. Marshall just I just you know, they've they've been getting beat a little bit here. I don't think I like the idea of trying to beat him again in the playoffs, is my whole deal.
Joe: Yeah, that's yeah, that's a dangerous thing.
Paul: Yes. Yes. so yeah, nobody should be getting it too confident, but you know, these teams are playing pretty well out there in four A two. So those top three teams. I'll be very interested. it is.
Joe: That's a nice section. That's a good section.
Paul: It's a fun section. It really is. And even Corey won a couple games in the last I mean, there's not a lot of game splitting, you know, other than, you know, Wilmer is six and you know, and The other teams, you know, four and two, but and then you go down from there. But you know, still it's four and two, three and three, and then two and four. So you're not separated by a lot. Recordy had a late start, and they kind of got a couple wins there later into the season. But yeah, a good section, and it'll be fun in the playoffs for sure. And then of course the last game was the Cam Byron game that you know we we talked about, you know, being casting guys. I just you know, of course I would like to go with Casson. I just I just couldn't get myself to go there last week. Nope.
Joe: I we didn't we didn't miss it. Both of us picked it. Neither one of us missed it.
Paul: Well and what's funny is, you know, it at halftime it looked like it was it was what you know, you thought, wow, okay, this is this is a game here. And then and then the the top came off here in the second half and Byron Bayern ends up scoring thirty unanswered, you know, to go thirty seven seven. So, you know, just some incredible offense. They're really good defense. Bayern just kinda shows, you know, they're they're just they're kind of at that elite level. And they and like
Joe: Yeah.
Paul: we said last week, they've kind of been building. They've been every week they've been stacking these wins and they're stacking confidence, they're stacking plays and
Joe: Just the schedule. I mean, they play a tough schedule. You know,
Paul: I'm telling ya. Yeah. It's brutal.
Joe: I mean they're not they're not shying away from anybody. They're just they're playing to everybody and they're doing what they have to do. Stewie next is it next weekend with with Stewie? Or or no, tomorrow night. Tomorrow night. or
Paul: Tomorrow night. So they got Byron and Stewie tomorrow night. Thursday night. Sorry, Thursday.
Joe: th yeah, that's the treat. That's the treat, right? We get we get we're we're gonna
Paul: Yeah, they play that's a Thursday night treat.
Joe: we're gonna get through these games and then we get to sit here and watch Byron and Stewie. all by themselves on Thursday night. So yeah the whole state
Paul: All by themselves, yep. The whole state can stream that.
Joe: can walk you know walk into Byron and buy a ticket. I think it's at Byron. so
Paul: It is at BM. Yep.
Joe: you know yes I mean that that what's awesome is these these teams that that will load up their schedules and and just go play, right? It's it's like the NCAA, you know best teams that all right, we're not afraid of taking a loss in week one or week two. We're just we're gonna go play the best. And Byron especially has seems like they they built a schedule to let's go play. Let's go play to be ready to win a state title. and we're not concerned about if we lose the game during the year, but let's go try and win a state title. So that's Stuartville, I mean they got a chip on their shoulder, but Man, I mean, without cheddar? I mean
Paul: Well we'll get to that. Let's get to your games. What was your games last week?
Joe: So we got one more left of yours, right? Northfield, Otana?
Paul: Northfield sorry. So Northfield Oatana. I didn't pick that game. yeah, that was
Joe: Yep. Yeah, I mean it's on is on the list.
Paul: it was on the list. It was yep, a battle of two teams who were who were four and one. And yeah, and it started off pretty close in that first half, but
Joe: Good first half.
Paul: yep, yep. First half started pretty good. Oatana just way too much on the on the offensive line. No, Northfield kind of comes in and they started really, really nice in that, you know, we got Davis that threw a nice, beautiful touchdown pass to Ben Imams. just another combination there, you know, just another connection. And then they
Joe: yeah.
Paul: did it again in the second quarter. so they had a couple more connections there in the first half, and then second half kind of came along and and Oatana realized, boy, we can just run all over these guys. The offensive line for Oatana is really impressive. it's led by Sam Doolis. There, he's he's awesome. And then Yep,
Joe: Yeah. We're gonna talk about their running back a little bit later. Yeah.
Paul: yep, yep, exactly. And and they just opened up they opened up all kinds of holes and so really, really nice game. really nice team that Oatana has. And so yeah, I I think we were in the you know, obviously don't wanna use it as anything. as a an excuse. Northfield's hurting a little bit. They've got some guys that were banged up a little bit and and weren't able to contribute as much as they wanted to and and you never know, you know, if you can have some of those guys. But hey, that's football. Next man up, right? And so that's just how that goes. so we did the best we could with what we had and and just came up a little short. But at the end of the day that that offensive line for Oatana was really what really was the game breaker, you know, for in that game. I mean, just just really kind of pushed our guys out of the way and and let Cade Hullapeter kinda go wherever he wanted to there. So and then he's a good runner too. So he he breaks
Joe: Yeah.
Paul: a lot of tackles and just a really nice runner. So yeah. So anyways, in a game where you say that's a pretty important game, Owatana made it, you know, when you look at it on paper, it looks like it they made it look kinda easy. So so unfortunate for Northfield, but Oatana's in the driver's seat in in five A section
Joe: Yeah, tail
Paul: one.
Joe: tail of two halves there and kinda led
Paul: Yep, it was.
Joe: led Oatana to jump out, you know, in that section. So
Paul: Yep. Yep. So they're out and they play mail the upcoming up this week. So yeah, so there's some interesting things going on there. But anyways, I didn't I didn't pick that one 'cause I just wanted to stay away from it. But definitely
Joe: Yep. Yep. Yeah.
Paul: a game of the week and and and proved to be pretty good for a half anyway, so
Joe: Yeah. Well I'm gonna jump into one that I got right. Goodhue versus Cannon Falls. And I picked kind of Canon Falls, you know, just off their physicality and and Goodhue just kinda being a little mystery this year, really. Max Reed from Cannon Falls had one twenty seven and two touchdowns and just kinda led the way and and And Cannon Falls, you know, ended up winning that game 3630. So, you know, the old wing T, power T, whatever Cannon Falls is running, calling it right now, kinda got the best of Good Hugh, and I'm a little leery on Goodhue, you know. that's that's a section that's one you know, now Cannon Falls is probably the one seed and Good Hughes the two. So
Paul: Yeah.
Joe: but We'll see, you know, we'll see if if the Russians and and you know the O'Reilly boys, you know, can mend things and kinda fix it up. It wasn't like it was a huge huge defeat. I mean they're right there in the game. So that could be one of those section finals that could go either way.
Paul: Well, it is, and I kinda feel here again though, Joe, I'm gonna say this. I think Cannon Falls is another team who's been slowly building momentum and confidence. They're just kinda sneaking, you know. Que
Joe: absolutely. Quietly, quietly.
Paul: it's kinda like, yeah, yeah, that's right, Cannon Falls. 'Cause you know why? They lost Chatfield that week. And I was a little surprised by that, to be honest. I thought I I really
Joe: Yep. No, yeah, yeah.
Paul: did think they could get Chatfield and they lost, and then everyone kinda goes, okay. But it's like,
Joe: Yeah.
Paul: no, no, no, hold on a second here. I think something that's a little bit of an outlier game. So yeah, I think that was part of it. But Cannon Falls has been sneaky good.
Joe: Yeah, I know. I th I I think so too. I mean and with the offense they run, you know, every t it gives every team a little the shivers when they gotta play you know. It just does. So
Paul: Yeah. Yeah. Well, and they've got athletes that run it very well. So
Joe: that's just it. So my next game, Nurhag and Fillmore Central. And Man, I've been so in love with Nurhag and Sean Lasan and that offense all season long. And they and I gotta give these guys props. I mean, they put them their schedule is brutal. Like they're they
Paul: Yeah.
Joe: have week after week gone up against the best of the best in that in that class. And and maybe that's a little part of this. I mean, maybe they're just running out of steam, like they came out great to start the year. But on top of that, I have to give Philmore central props. Like I mean It's not the the Yeah, I mean you know
Paul: I think you gotta apologize to him 'cause I think you're said you might be getting close to selling.
Joe: Yeah, I mean I I was I was I was right there, but you can't take away the experience that Fillmore has. Bryden Ball, Kid Dan the Daniels Kid, Quincy Case, all
Paul: Daniel's Yeah.
Joe: these guys. I mean, and the thing that Fillmore has is they've been there. They've been there, they've done that, they understand it. And I feel like maybe that little early season stumble and now they've cleaned it up and I probably won't sell on Fillmore again from here on out. I'll take Fillmore from here on out because I I I think they're a team, you know, that's battle tested a little bit too and they experience and the wisdom that they have. Probably wisdom like is probably the right word for Fillmore. They've been here before. So
Paul: Yeah. Yeah. And and and
Joe: man.
Paul: you know, I I agree. Yeah.
Joe: As much as I I like I love Nureg, what they what they've done this first half to two thirds of the season. Exciting. Sean Lasan and all those guys, like what they're doing. I mean, it's exciting. But and then now you run into the you run to the guys that have been here before. And and they know what they know what's going on right now. So and and Fillmore
Paul: Yeah, yeah. Yeah.
Joe: knows what's going on and they know where they need to be. And they just put their foot down and said, hey, you're not quite at our level yet. So great for them, great win for Fillmore. And dude, maybe we're looking at them guys heading right back to the state finals. and that's just the type of team that they have.
Paul: Well, and I can't wait to see. I mean, well let's let's see what what see what this playoffs brings, but Southland being looking at that one seed right now, you know, and and Fillmore potentially being the two seed, in a couple weeks we could be seeing those guys trying to battle for that state spot. You know,
Joe: No, it's gonna be a clash. That's a clash right there. I mean
Paul: there was only two points that separated that first game earlier this year.
Joe: It's just and and it's just a clash and it's it's like you got the Southland team that I feel like has had no respect. And even and even myself personally, I probably didn't give any enough respect earlier on. And
Paul: Yeah.
Joe: and Whisty and they're just they're coming, right? Like they're they're they're a great team. And k yeah, you know.
Paul: Yeah, you got whiskey and Cale Smith. I mean Cale Smith is just like an unstoppable force right now. I feel like Yep. Yep. I think so.
Joe: And I feel like they're trying to prove a point. So they're the they're the underdogs trying to prove a point. So we'll see it, we'll see how that all plays out. But we'll talk about one that one when I get when we get there.
Paul: Yeah.
Joe: my next game, I'm gonna skip, I'm gonna jump over one here. And I'm gonna go to Lanesborough versus Lero Standard of the Apple Chelli. And this one.
Paul: Yeah, you really you really bit it on that one.
Joe: That soon blows my mind.
Paul: That was that was a heck of a game.
Joe: And now I am a lanesboro fan. Like we're gonna find we're gonna we're gonna yes, yes, we're a borough, I'm a borough, I'm a jackass
Paul: You are, 'cause you're kind of a jackass, so now you're a burrow. Yeah.
Joe: for not picking them. And I'm
Paul: Ha ha.
Joe: gonna dig into this this borough team next week and find out who's the best these guys have. Because
Paul: no.
Joe: we've been riding lead we've been riding Reed Hunger Holt. And that Lero Stander Lyra Pachel, you know, their that offense and how good they are. We've been riding that the whole time. And Lanesboro,
Paul: Yeah.
Joe: Lanesboro comes in here and they just they shut him down. I mean, Tegan
Paul: Well
Joe: Tegan Tussum, their quarterback, he has two
Paul: yeah. Yep.
Joe: TDs. Henry Semmon, I'm pretty sure it's the coach's kid. And yeah.
Paul: He's a heck of a player.
Joe: And I think he's a big dude. Like he's a pretty big dude. He ran for one seventeen and two touchdowns in this game.
Paul: Yeah.
Joe: And and here's where we start drawing the line. Like, can you stop these guys? And obviously Lanesborough's defense is tough.
Paul: Yes.
Joe: Cause they're shutting they're shutting they're shutting down the scoring. You're Reed Hungerhold can't score against you.
Paul: Right, right. No. It'll be interesting. Yeah, no, I I agree. I mean that's it was such a statement win. Against
Joe: That's huge.
Paul: against the Leroy. No, that was a statement win.
Joe: I think Lanesbury has put their foot in the ground and said, everybody's gotta come beat us now. I d I mean, I think they're the clear fav favorites. There's no doubt.
Paul: They gotta do it again though this week. We'll talk about that in a little bit, but they gotta do it again this week. They gotta prove it.
Joe: We'll talk about we'll talk about it in a bit, but I but I think they've kind of put their foot in the ground and said, All right, let's go. So then my
Paul: that's
Joe: last game that I had that actually picked right was Cleveland versus Meryluth. Cleveland on de you know, went in there thirty five to seven win and kind of just took care of business, really. Cleveland's so impressive during the regular season. I think they got a chip on their shoulder. They're gonna carry it into the postseason. So that was my last my last pick there. And then I just want to talk a little bit about a game that we got to watch last week because of the scheduling was Springfield. I mean, we everybody got to watch Parker Keane and that whole Springfield team. and that was that was pretty impressive, pretty fun to watch.
Paul: It was. It was. I I was a little surprised at how sleepy I was keeping it as I mean, they made it really difficult for Springfield. I mean, you know,
Joe: They're dead. They're dead.
Paul: that first half, even into the third quarter, and then all of a sudden Springfield kinda seemed to come alive a little bit there. Couple big a big explosive plays that all of a sudden kind of you know opened up the door a little bit. And but Wow, Sleepy Eye was just an awesome performance. I mean, they were
Joe: They played they they played, I mean, they exposed a little something on Springfield's defense for sure.
Paul: Yeah.
Joe: On getting deep on those deep throws. the one thing I would say about Springfield, though, with the focus on Parker Keene, is, and I'm not sure what his first name is, but Jackson, the running back Jackson, was very impressive that night. Like he did a He did a hell of a job running the ball and
Paul: Yes.
Joe: being patient and hitting holes. not positive, but he had a great night. Like he he had a few touchdowns, I think, a couple touchdowns, and just
Paul: Yeah.
Joe: you know, wasn't the Parker Keene and Med Lent show. It was this this kid Jackson, their running back Jackson that had a great night that night, really, that kind of pushed him through.
Paul: Yeah, he had a nice night. Absolutely. Yeah.
Joe: A fun game. Fun game to watch.
Paul: It was. It was. Yep. yeah, I wanted to go back here quickly to that Cleveland game, just you know, kind of keeping an eye on those guys is they they seem like the most you know, they really took care of Mayor Lutheran there in that game, but they're such a complete team. So you've got guys that can score like all the time. And every one of them does a little bit every game. It's not like one guy kind of just rules the day. Do you know what I mean? You've you've got
Joe: Cleveland's dangerous. So dangerous.
Paul: and you've got yeah, you've got Tanner Simonette, you've got then they've got this Wyatt Krenick. I think he scored a touchdown here last week as well. we've got Braden Smith who we've sent a t shirt out to. Carson Lyons is the one that leads this. The offensive line. he's one of the state's
Joe: Carson Lyons, they're so good.
Paul: best quarterbacks. and then an offensive line that is really good. I mean, they really make some holes and push people around.
Joe: Absolutely. Yeah.
Paul: so they're just a really complete team. And I boy, I tell you what, I am I'm really excited to see them in the postseason here and see what happens. And if they can get to that state spot like they were hoping to get last year,
Joe: No, yeah, it's just they you know, it's just focus, head down. Clevel Cleveland's got such a great team. They do. And it's
Paul: Yeah. Yeah.
Joe: let's go. Let's get there, be in that be in that top eight teams and then see what happens, you know.
Paul: Yeah. Yeah. They're a well coached team over there. And I I really I really like them. I like their odds of getting into that state and seeing what they can do against some of these other teams. So yeah. So some pretty fun games, two and two. you went, I went four and Got a gained some ground on you there a little bit, so
Joe: Yeah, you're s you're still down by like twenty three, I think. So I haven't I haven't checked it
Paul: No, no, no, no. You y I think
Joe: ex I haven't checked it exactly, but I think it's twenty three or nineteen or something. So Okay.
Paul: Yeah, well, okay. Yeah. That's like what you always like to do is make up some stuff. Well,
Joe: All right.
Paul: I think it's pretty close. But anyways, hey, so from there, let's go into this week's games. We got form for each. We've got four games to look at, in each territory here. why don't you go ahead and kinda start us off with with a couple of yours or Whatever you want to do there.
Joe: Alright, I'm gonna I'll I'll start out I think I'm gonna go with Rushford Peterson versus Dover Yoda. both these teams heading into this, having great seasons. Rushford Peterson, I think, is just gaining momentum all the time. Dover probably kind of the same thing. and just cruising along, you know, this section one double A section is just. It's brutal. Just back and forth just beating on each other and and one team beats another, right? I'm gonna take Rushford in this one, their rushing game and what they've got going on with that wing T, Power T, I think might just get over Dover. And this might be a I don't know, twenty-one twenty game or something like that. Like I th I feel like this is gonna be a close game because Dover's got confidence right now. Dover is riding
Paul: They do.
Joe: high and I you know I'm gonna pick Rushford. I hope Dover wins this game, but realistically I think d you know, Rushford might kick clip you know, on this one. we have the Caledonia.
Paul: Yeah.
Joe: We have a Caledonia Chatfield game in here. I'm not gonna pick that one. maybe you can, but you know, that's part of our four. obvious I'm gonna go with Cal over chat, but we're not gonna talk about that too much. So I don't think
Paul: Well, hold on a second, 'cause I think we should. I mean, Caledonia, that's one of the best that's one of the best rivalries really. I mean, that's a top rivalry in Southeast Minnesota. So
Joe: Yeah, it's a hu it's a huge rifler. It is.
Paul: we need to talk about it. I know you're from there and you have you've got some skin in the game, but that is a game that everyone no matter what the s what the record is, both teams are coming to that game with the intention of of doing something big. That that one game could make one team's year. Right. So if you had a bad year and if you can just win that game, that would be like that team's year. And they go, hey, we went one and seven, but at least we beat Caledonia or at least we beat Chatfield. Right. And so that to me is and I think that's a that's a rivalry game the whole state looks at. So this is a big one. You know, you guys are undefeated. Chatfield's sitting at four and two right now. And they they kinda have some late season confidence going into it too, I think, right now. You know, they beat a couple teams and and they're feeling pretty good. They had a couple bad losses I kind of felt like there early on. But yeah, so I don't know. I still like Caledonia. I'm gonna I'm I'm gonna say
Joe: this is
Paul: it.
Joe: you know, it's kind of one of those scenario games. You know, Chatfield last year ran off to a early start, six and and then lost to us Pine Island and then Lewis in the first round the playoff. You know, they went six and to start and then and three to finish. And as a fan, I would I kinda sitting here thinking I'd like to see that same ending for Chatfield. Now, does that happen? You know, I'm not positive on that. We'll kinda see how that goes. But you know, Chatfield's got a tough finish, you know, they and and give credit. They they're not afraid to schedule, they're not afraid to put together a tough schedule. You finish with Caledonia and Pine Island on your schedule the last two years. So coach Jeff Johnson
Paul: Yeah, yeah. Right. Yep.
Joe: there, he's not afraid of you know tall tasks. So and they've been
Paul: Yeah. Well
Joe: and they've been good. It's not like they can't handle the they can't handle it. They're they're gonna be ready to play these two these two games.
Paul: For sure. Yeah. Yeah. No, I think it's gonna be a good one. I think a lot lot of people will be able to watch in that one. So what else you got?
Joe: So yeah, I mean we go Cal Chatfield, Rush for Peterson, Dover Yoda, you know those two, and then we're gonna head to let's go to Springfield or Spring Grove and Lanesborough. Okay, and nine men.
Paul: Yeah, yeah. Like we said, yeah, sure.
Joe: lanesboro has jumped off the charts. it was all about Lero, Stranger, Liapalch Liapochelli. and breed hunger hold and that offense just kind of dominating this nine man section all year and We have interference in our broadcast that that has kind of cre kinda lanes l
Paul: huh.
Joe: Lanesborough and Spring Grove, you know, have said, Hey, we're here too. So
Paul: Yeah. Yep.
Joe: Damn, I mean I I live two miles from S from Spring Grove and I I think I'm gonna take Lanesborough in this one because I think these guys are they're they're heading, like they're heading in the right direction and they're not gonna be stopped. So I'm gonna
Paul: Yeah.
Joe: I'm gonna take Lanesborough on this pick and you know I might get run out of town, you know, Saturday. So we'll s we'll see what happens.
Paul: Well, it is what it is, but you're just trying to see it objectively. And I I tell you what though, I agree with you because you know the crazy thing about Lanesboro is they're like they were another one sneaky under the radar kind of team. And, you know, they took on Alden Conger, who's been a top ten team all year. they only lost twenty eight to twenty two, and that's their only loss of the year. And so yeah, and that's it. You know, and so
Joe: That's it, that's it. And yeah.
Paul: they have just been Like you said, that the semin kid has been really good. and I think he's only getting stronger. And I just feel like this team is getting stronger and stronger as the t year goes on. So I
Joe: No I
Paul: think Spring no, don't get me wrong, Springgrove has got some studs. They have some studs on that team. Dylan Holverson's a frickin' stud. Ezra Conkel, right? He's he's plays for those.
Joe: Yeah. You know, I mean all these guys have put up points, but we'll see. I mean, this is gonna be this is gonna be the first like real, real test right here.
Paul: It is. It is. It's gonna be an awesome game. That is gonna be a good one. I'm excited
Joe: So and then
Paul: for that one.
Joe: my last pick, which you which you tell me is an easy pick, is JCC over Laverne. So boy, it may just
Paul: I didn't say that. I didn't say it's an easy one.
Joe: well you didn't, you know, if I put JCC on this list, you know, it's an easy pick. So,
Paul: Well, you've kind of been a yeah, yeah, you're kind of a you've you've been riding that wagon.
Joe: But but I I I am gonna pick JCC over Laverne. I don't know, I mean everything, all the all the video, all the everything all the things I've heard, all the things I've seen. This JCC team is probably primed to run this streak for for a while.
Paul: Yeah.
Joe: and Come from Caledonia and we're gonna have to play them at some point in time. If if if we're gonna be state champs, we gotta beat them. And they just their line, they rebuilt their line. Their quarterback is great, their wide receiver is great. we're gonna talk about them guys and Cage Johnson's is great. And I just don't I don't know. I I'm not picking against JCC. I mean, this is a great matchup against undefeated teams. But I gotta go with JCC here. I I would love to see Laver
Paul: Yeah.
Joe: Laverda kick the shit out of them and, you know, beat by, you know, forty nine to zero. That'd be it'd be effing great. But I don't think that's gonna happen. I think J C C's gonna, you know, take it to him and probably beat them, you know, thirty something to maybe fourteen. So
Paul: Yeah. Yeah. I mean, I I I don't it's really hard to go against Jackson until someone's done it, right? I mean, and I I wouldn't go against Jackson County Central anytime soon either. and what's crazy about that, you know, they're playing up in this game. you know,
Joe: Yeah, yeah.
Paul: Laverne's a three A team, they play in section three over there. the only thing that I would say Laverne's been so dominant. They've been so dominant this year.
Joe: Yeah. Yeah. Dude, I hope I'm
Paul: there's
Joe: wrong. I hope I'm wrong. I hope Laverne beats him fucking eighty eighty four to zero.
Paul: jeez, you just want the F bomb. You don't need to do the F bomb. Hey,
Joe: Yeah. Yeah.
Paul: what I would say is this what I would say is this. They have a forty two forty two point differential Laverne on offense versus defense.
Joe: Yeah.
Paul: But I just don't know, you know, the teams that they've played and I hate saying that. I don't you don't you don't want to really discount what they've done because it's not their fault what the schedule is. They just
Joe: No, not at all. No.
Paul: You get the schedule and you gotta go play it. But
Joe: They're playing it Yeah. Gotta go play.
Paul: but but that being said, they obviously have a very stout defense, and it might be what Jackson has not seen. Might be the most stout defense that they've seen all year. And I think, you know, I think Laverne can make this a really fun and interesting game. So I still would be with you though. I would still go with Jackson until somebody It was like a few weeks ago, right? I said, I'm not taking Was I'm not picking against Wasika until someone can knock him off. Well
Joe: Do you think it's do you think it's twenty or less?
Paul: I I do. I do. I don't think it's one of these fifty to three games like Jackson's been used to. you know, they've they've really knocked the socks off a lot of people here. And you know, their point differential, I'm just looking is about thirty-five. They average about forty-six and and give up about eleven. So I I think, yeah, no, I think this is a very This is just one of those games. Now I just don't know the size of Laverne. We know Jackson's big. We know that they're kinda they're
Joe: yeah. Yeah.
Paul: primed and, you know, they've got the moving company up there that that can make a lot of things happen. So
Joe: man. But here's the thing. It did last week it didn't matter about the movie company. They just threw it, right? They threw the ball. So what a great what a great mix. What a great mix.
Paul: Yeah, they did. yeah, and they had some results. Yeah. Yeah, they had some results from that too.
Joe: I I don't know. I don't know.
Paul: All right, man. I like it. So Jackson's your pick there. rightfully so. I would take that all day long, you know. But I think it's gonna be a fun
Joe: Man, I'm
Paul: game.
Joe: I'm cheered for Laverne. I mean I'm I picked Jackson but I'm cheered for Laverne all the way.
Paul: Yeah. Yeah. Like make it a good competitive game. Have a fun have a fun
Joe: Yeah. Get in there.
Paul: game. You know what I mean? Yeah. Absolutely.
Joe: Send Send your linebackers every every play. Get after him.
Paul: Yeah, yeah, well watch out for Gage Johnson out the backside. So
Joe: No, whatever. Go for it.
Paul: Alright, well I am going to head on over back to let's just start with the big one here, Bayern and Stewie. So we got Bayern and Stewartville. We're coming into this game. I think If I'm not mistaken here, I can take a look real quick. I want to say we've got Stuartville ranked number two in state. Byron is currently at six. So we've got a two versus a six going into the week seven game. this is a really important matchup here when it comes to conference and then
Joe: A little skewed by the injury though.
Paul: and then playoff. positioning and what's that?
Joe: Well, we gotta factor in Cheddar's injury.
Paul: Yeah, Cheddar's Cheddar's hurt. Yep, Cheddar's hurt. And No. They had the kid that came in for here last week actually came in and filled in quite well. And I'm sorry I don't have his name.
Joe: And Fairball. Yep.
Paul: they mm let's see, Stuartville last week. They yeah,
Joe: Fairball.
Paul: they played Fairbow and you know, he filled in pretty well. You know, Fairball's having a rough go, but Anyway, Stuartville goes to Bayern Thursday night. They're the loan loan game Thursday night. now last week
Joe: Yep. The whole state can watch.
Paul: last year in 2025, Bayern beat Stewie 29 26. So if you remember, a bunch of those games between those top three teams ended by three points. Yep.
Joe: Yeah. That's the three points. Yep.
Paul: And that was one of those games. and Bayern won on one of the like a last second play,
Joe: Yeah.
Paul: where they went down and a long long run and and won that game. So Byron Stewart play. Yeah, this is a really tough one. I I I Stewartville is playing so well right now. Bayern just to me feels like they've just got a little something extra and then the fact that Stewie doesn't have cheddar I feel like is a is a is a disadvantage. So I'm gonna go Bayern. I'm gonna go Bayern takes us at home and I think it's one heck of a game though because you still got a manual running, you still got Peyton English. You know y Yep. Yep, you've you've got yep.
Joe: yeah. Peyton English, Emmanuel. I mean it's gonna it's gonna be a challenge. It's gonna be a challenge. But I do agree I do I do
Paul: And if the quarterback can get the ball out, he's got it he's got spear out on the on the out on the wide out. you got some kids out there, so there's players out there.
Joe: I do ag I do agree with their pick though. Byron's healthy and they're gonna they're gonna do they're gonna take care of business in this one. Rhoda Meyer. Rhoda Meyer's gonna be he's dre he's he's
Paul: Rotemeyer's been playing just awesome. Rodemeyer's been so good those these last few games.
Joe: he's ready for this. This is what he's made for. So Yep. So I'm with you. Byron, yep.
Paul: Yeah. Hymer had Heimer's been on a s he's been a tear. yeah, so I I'm gonna go Bayern. Alright, and then I'm gonna go the next game we've got St. Peter and New Olm. this game is being held at Saint Peter. this has some section in implications too for playoffs. So St. Peter's currently three and three, New Olm is four and two. Both of these teams are in the middle of that they're in class three A section three. They're both kind of in the middle of that section. So this win is very important to kind of see do you end up on that top side or that bottom side? And
Joe: Yeah. Yeah.
Paul: so and they've both teams have had kind of some ups and downs this year, but at the end of the day, this game is at St. Peter. I am gonna go with new home. I'm gonna go with an
Joe: both teams we were high on. Yeah.
Paul: what's that?
Joe: Well, both teams we were high on earlier this year.
Paul: Yeah, yeah, yeah, for sure. I was. And I and I you know what, and they've they've been pretty good. They have. I mean Saint
Joe: Yeah, yeah.
Paul: Peter's five hundred right now. I am gonna go with the New Olm Eagles. I just think
Joe: Right.
Paul: they've got a little bit extra right now, but again, I won't be surprised if it goes the other way, but I am gonna go with New Olm away at Saint Peter.
Joe: those are top packs.
Paul: yeah, yep, yep. And then I'm gonna jump into that TCU versus Fairmont game. And TCU as we were talking about, they're five and one going into this game. And then we've got
Joe: So easy peck. Easy peck.
Paul: Fairmont. Fairmont who's three and two. I'm sorry. Fairmont is four and two.
Joe: That's the easy pack.
Paul: No, Fairmont is four and two right now. And and and Fairmont, they're on a three game winning streak right now. So they've been And in that time, they've scored forty six, forty five, and twenty seven. And they and actually they beat Bell Plane last week, twenty seven to seven, who we've been pretty big on Bell Plane, and Fairmont put down.
Joe: We have been. We've been big on Bell Plane, but it just that Bell Plane team just hasn't gotten out of roll. I mean, just haven't. One of our
Paul: Yeah, they have it. They've struggled a little bit. Yep.
Joe: favorite preseason teams that just dang love that Bellplane team, but they just
Paul: I know. And I they just they've had a they
Joe: it just hasn't gotten out of roll.
Paul: Yep, they've had a little tough time getting on a nice little run here, but but I at the end of the day I'm going Tri City United. Yeah.
Joe: So before b you are. Did you wa I didn't know if you wanted b me to help you pick this one again.
Paul: No, I don't want I don't wanna hear from you at all. I don't wanna hear what it is you think because I like Tri City United without your without your loud mouth getting involved in it. So yeah.
Joe: Alright. Well, any any of you any of you TC TCU fans out there that have always been with me and don't have to deal with Paul's bullshit, like I'm here. I'm here for you guys. I've been I've been here the whole time. I've talked him into
Paul: Ha ha ha
Joe: it and here we are. He's finally on your side after like, you know, six weeks.
Paul: I hey I'm there. I it it yeah. I am there now. I'm there now. So I think they take that and my last game
Joe: Alright, TCU fans. they're gonna they're gonna blow this they're gonna blow this game out. They're gonna blow it out. No, no, they're going. They're g yep, they're gonna
Paul: Well it'll be interesting. Yeah, I I think they might. I think they might. There's a chance.
Joe: they're rolling, they're doing good. TCU is awesome and they're they're rolling right now.
Paul: They are. They do. They're they're five and one. They have a lot of confidence. they're playing really well right now.
Joe: Yeah. They're awesome. They're one of my favorite teams. They're doing great.
Paul: Yep. my last it
Joe: All right, Mayo, last one.
Paul: My last one is Mao versus Oatana. this is a big game. there's some section implications on this game. Mao
Joe: Absolutely.
Paul: beat Oat or I'm sorry, Oatana beat Northfield last week. to kind of take that inside track on the number one seed in that section. which a couple weeks ago, Northfield did beat Mail. Northfield plays sentry. So there's kind of that we've got that round robin thing kinda going on right now where if this happens, that happens, and if this ha you know what I mean, there's there's a number of variables right now.
Joe: Yep. Yeah, for sure. Yeah.
Paul: but yeah, so anyways, it is at mail. Oatana played their last home game last Friday night against us, so they're the remaining games are away. which doesn't really matter tomorrow night. This next game is the last section game for class five A section one. And then the eighth game, there's no section game. So the section is basically decided after tomorrow night of what the seedings will be. Cause then everybody plays a non section game on the eighth game. So but I'm gonna go with Otana, going into mail and and beating mail or I'm sorry, yeah, beating mail. that that offensive line for Oatana, they're they're just they're pretty overpowering. really impressive. We're one of the more impressive offensive lines I've seen in a long time. So I think May is gonna have a hard time with now I will say this Mayo has improved and gotten stronger and gotten better as the years gone on because they started to finally realize that They are a running team this year. They're not a team that needs to be passing the ball around. they have Max Erickson and and Xavier Adams and Max Erick Erickson's been a tear the last two or three weeks in a row here. And why you wouldn't just keep giving him the ball, I don't know. So I I do think, you know, he's got a chance to potentially get himself some yards and make it interesting, but I think at the end of the day, Oatana takes this one. So I'm gonna go Oatana on that game. So that's
Joe: Think that's a good pick.
Paul: yeah, that rounds out that those four four games there. So those there's eight games to for everyone to keep their eye on here for the next night or two.
Joe: Yeah, for sure. Well, should we jump into the the individuals here? Talk to the town's nominees.
Paul: I just want to give an update here, in case anybody is listening. We're at the end of the third quarter and Saint Charles is now up on Kenny One and Mago twenty to sixteen. So Yeah. Yeah. So that is
Joe: Yes, I told you. I told you. I think Saint Charles has got this one. So Caddy Monemingo is gonna have to suffer through another thirty losses. I don't know. I'm not really sure, but
Paul: I don't know, but right now it's St. Charles' game, so we'll see what happens there. well hey, let's get into our talk of the town's nominees list here. And let's let everyone know who we
Joe: Alright up. I'll start off. Yeah, I'll start off with a list here. It's a bunch of local kids, I feel like.
Paul: Yeah.
Joe: Maverick Moore again from La Crescent, you know, take care of business with two hundred and four yards rushing and four touchdowns. week after week this guy's just seems to be popping up on our list.
Paul: As a quarterback.
Joe: yeah, I mean just from that QB position just tucking it and going. I you know, we'll see Kelder plays them in week eight, so we'll we'll get to see front and center.
Paul: Well and he was a guy we talked about this summer. I
Joe: Yeah. I mean
Paul: I I liked Maverick more from last year. He had an impressive year last year as a sophomore or as a as a yeah, he was a young guy last year. And so he's building. Yep. Yep.
Joe: Yeah. Yeah. yeah. Just just keeps putting up numbers there. Yep. then we've got one of your guys, Cade Hullapeter. Hullapeter. Holla Peter.
Paul: Holo Peter. The holo hoop they call him and Oitana.
Joe: from Montana. two ninety seven and three touchdowns.
Paul: Five.
Joe: Fi five touchdowns. Two ninety seven to five touchdowns. You know, just ripping it off. So against the Northfield side.
Paul: Yeah. Yeah. Yep. He had a heck of a game. He had a heck of a game. he really kind of just could do whatever he wanted there. So yeah, it was it was pretty impressive though. Like I said, the offensive line was was pretty darn good. then we've got Max Reed there, the running back from Cannon Falls. You spoke on him a little bit earlier. He had 20 rushes for 127 yards and two touchdowns to help that Cannon Falls team take down good Hugh. And so very nice. And that's the second time in a row, two weeks in a row that Max has been on that list. So that's been pretty darn good. He's he's coming into his own there. Bryden Ball, quarterback from Fillmore Central. He went fifteen of sixteen passing for 191 yards, three touchdowns. With forty six more yards of rushing and another couple touchdowns. So that was you know, but Bryden's as you know, Joe, he's kinda been doing things like that all year.
Joe: Well this is yeah, this is every week for them guys. Yeah.
Paul: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. He's he's really been doing having a really nice season. Caden Girard, running back out of Spring Grove. This is pretty impressive. Five rushes, 171 yards and two touchdowns. That's a heck of a
Joe: That's nice.
Paul: that's a heck of a night there. I'm just trying to do the math in my head quick, but that's over thirty yards or a rush. So that's pretty darn
Joe: yeah, yeah, almost yeah, yeah, thirty five.
Paul: Yeah. That's pretty darn good. this one I was pretty I was pretty happy to see. This is pretty good. Ross and Sullivan, the running back out of Cotter. you know, they had that loss against Zombrota. And so he had he had twenty six rushes for one hundred and fifty four yards and a touchdown. So he made it tough on those guys, you know. He was a big part of that close game and that Zimbroda Mazeppa game there. So
Joe: absolutely. That's not
Paul: Yep.
Joe: easy that's not an easy takeaway for some brota at all.
Paul: It is not. No. No, not at all. And so very good nice game there out of Rawson. Max Elliott from Rochester Century. He's been on this list here a couple times. has another great game. Twenty-six yard or twenty-six rushes, I'm sorry, hundred and forty two yards and a couple touchdowns. And that was you know, that was again in another they had a losing effort. You know, they had a close game against New Prague. And they just came up a little bit short, but you know, Max Elliott doing, you know, all he could do to try to help that team there. So nice game there. guy that's been on the list before, Jordan Heimer, running back out of Bayern. he had twenty three rushes for 182 yards and two touchdowns. And that's against a tough rivalry game with Cassen. So Jordan Hymer just kinda doing Jordan Hymer things. That's That's what he does. I I I think he's he gets over a hundred every game and
Joe: I just separated. Yeah.
Paul: a touchdown or two and he's just a brute. And and probably had a good game on defense too. I didn't catch what his defensive stats were, but he usually has a few tackles on defense as well. So another guy that's used to this list is Cale Smith from Southland. our one of our winners from last week, actually. six rushes for 160 yards and and three touchdowns. And then he had another catch for 26 yards. So nice all around game. Almost 200 yards of total offense there for Kale. kind of just another night for him, you know, for Southland there. Jacob Kruger. No, now we're getting into Joe. We're getting into that. Your your buddies there over in Jackson County. We got we
Joe: Yeah, we're yeah.
Paul: got him back to back here, the quarterback for Jackson County Central, which is a little different, right? Thirteen to fifteen passing for three hundred and eighty five yards and seven touchdowns. That set a single game record for passing yards and touchdowns in Jackson County Central the hype the the record books. Which is crazy if you think about some of those teams. And they just had Roman Voss there last year who was their quarterback. who was a Minnesota Gulber, the number one recruit in in Minnesota and Jake Krueger is breaking records and I think he's just a sophomore.
Joe: Yeah, he's just a sophomore, but it's
Paul: Yeah.
Joe: it's a little bit different between throwing the ball, right? I mean Roma Voss is running it all the time and whatever, but throwing for touchdown seven touchdown passes or doing what he was doing this this week is way different than what JCC's used to. So a
Paul: Yes, yes, correct.
Joe: little different situation going out there and Tough for these teams that are gonna play them to figure out what's going on.
Paul: Yep. Yeah, I agree. I agree. Because now you've mixed it up a little bit. Now you've shown you can kinda we can stir up the pot a little bit here and do some different things. And and one of his one of his favorite targets here was Brody Anderson. Five receptions, two hundred and forty two yards, five touchdowns. So that also set a single game record for receiving yards and touchdowns. So you had two two record breaking
Joe: Yeah. Good luck.
Paul: nights last week for Jackson
Joe: Yeah.
Paul: County.
Joe: So who are you gonna pick, those guys or Gage Johnson when you play Jackson County
Paul: Yeah. Yeah.
Joe: Central?
Paul: Yeah, take your pick. Good luck.
Joe: Take your pick.
Paul: Good luck. Good luck. Yeah. Unreal. Owen Lang from Rushard Peterson, the running back. Fourteen rushes, one hundred and fifty four yards and a touchdown. really nice night. That's that's that's highly efficient. So you gotta love that. we got a couple kids here from your section here, Joe. We got Chase Carroll, quarterback out of Rochester Lewards. he goes seven and fourteen for one hundred and twenty three and two touchdowns, but he also ran for a hundred and one yards and another couple touchdowns. So that's a very nice night. Four touchdowns total for Chase Carroll.
Joe: absolutely. I mean it's a great quarterback and he's he's working through a a system there where he's kinda doing a lot of stuff just based on the talent that they have there. So he's he's fighting through it and Chase Carroll's a great football player, for sure. But
Paul: Yep. I agree.
Joe: the Lewards football team doesn't have a lot a lot of depth, so he's just you know, he's doing what he's doing what he can do.
Paul: Correct. Yeah, no, he's he has he's a good leader for that team. So nice nice game there for Chase. Max Erickson, this is I think his second time on this list here, and they had a a game against John Marshall team that hasn't been doing well, but he goes eighteen eighteen rushes for one hundred and fifty two yards, scores four touchdowns. So basically he kind of just said, Hey Give me the rock, baby, and I'll take care of this thing for us. And and we'll bring home that Addington jug. So that jug was up for for grabs in this game again. And and so Mayo ends up bringing that that baby home again for this year. So and then from there we go Austin Lucky. He's been on this section on this list here a couple times, running back out of Pine Island. Fifteen rushes, 148 yards, and a touchdown. Very nice night. very nice night for Austin. one of the state's better quarterbacks is Seth Dahlberg, and he's the quarterback out of Janesville, Waldorf, Pemberton.
Joe: week after week.
Paul: Yeah, constantly putting up really good numbers. In fact, this last week might have been I can't remember if it was a school record or it a personal record, but he throws for twenty-four for thirty-six. Three hundred and seventy two yards with six touchdowns. now it it came against a winless Medford team.
Joe: Yeah, I think I think it's a yeah.
Paul: yeah, you know, I'm not gonna I'm not gonna shortchange Seth at all here. you still gotta make it happen. But
Joe: Yeah, he's doing his job.
Paul: yeah, he's doing what he's gotta do. And and and he's got, as we know, Gavin Gavin Bauer, but and
Joe: Yeah.
Paul: who also had a pretty nice night too, but Seth also had Jackson Wolfe, who's another wide receiver for Jackson, or I'm sorry, Janesville, Waldorf, Pemberton, who had four receptions, hundred and thirty-six,
Joe: Yeah. Four for four for one forty.
Paul: hundred and thirty-nine yards and two touchdowns.
Joe: Yeah.
Paul: So yeah, just a just a gorgeous night there as well. So nice, nice game by Jackson. I made a mistake here and I apologize to Rylan Ristell. I put Ryan Ristell on the list, so apologies for that. But he's the wide receiver out of Fillmore Central. He had six receptions for ninety three yards, but he had three touchdowns. So I think that three touchdowns kind of broke that barrier there, Joe. A lot of times we're looking for those triple digit kind of numbers, but three touchdowns
Joe: Well, for sure.
Paul: is pretty impressive, you know, and that's a
Joe: Yeah.
Paul: heck of a that's a k heck of an average there, you know, on six for ninety three.
Joe: Yeah, I had I had him first I hit him for six for ninety-three and three touchdowns, right? I mean, yeah. So I mean you're talking
Paul: That's what he had. Yep, yep, exactly. Yep. So
Joe: a great average right there and the three touchdowns and obviously Brad and Ball doing his thing with one ninety-one and three TDs and and then another couple touchdowns rushing. So That team is I feel like Fillmore here's what I feel like with Fillmore. They've been there before. And they kinda just for hanging out this season, knowing what they need to do as the season gets closer to the end. And they're just you know, maybe at the beginning of the season, yeah, whatever. We can we can play these games and blah blah blah. But I I think with the experience that they have now, I don't think anybody's beat these guys. I don't give a shit if it's Southland. I don't care who it is in the matchups. Like I think Fillmore is just laid in the weeds, kinda doing their thing, understanding from experience where they need to be, and they're gonna roll everybody from here all the way. possibly to the state finals because they know what it takes. They were there and
Paul: Yeah. Yeah.
Joe: they're just sitting around kind of hanging out a little bit. Like I feel like they're hanging out. For lack
Paul: Yeah.
Joe: of better terms, I feel like Firmware's just been hanging out this year. And now
Paul: Yeah. Well they're ready to go now. They're they're in it, like you said.
Joe: Yeah, and they and they understand okay, all right, now it's time to go. Yeah, they they gave up that loss earlier this year and haven't given up a loss another loss since then. And I think they're all just kinda just going like, All right, we we know we're bear we're n we know we're better than all you guys. And here we go. It's time for the postseason. So
Paul: No, I agree. I think they're I think they're in a good spot right now. And no, so that's that's awesome. We're we Fillmore Centrals. There we've got we've got our eye on you guys. We're watching you guys. here, I'm gonna hit the last few here, Joe. Owen Owen Peterson, quarterback out of Canby, he had a had himself a nice game. Twenty five of thirty seven, three hundred and twenty six yards, and two touchdowns. That's a heck of a night.
Joe: Whew. That's a good game. That's a great game.
Paul: Yeah, that's a great game. Tristan Sussner, we we're fa big fans of Tristan.
Joe: Yeah, yeah, we're huge fans of him.
Paul: yep, over at Minneota. Big fans of all these guys, but you know, hey Tristan, fourteen of twenty one, two hundred and forty-four yards passing, four touchdowns, and then he had four yards rushing and another touchdown. So a five touchdown night.
Joe: That's it.
Paul: with almost three hundred total yards. So awesome game from Tristan. Another Another Mideo to win. they're at 51, I believe. Chance CoSell.
Joe: fifty two. Fifty two.
Paul: yeah, 52. Okay. Chance Co sell running back out of Lakeview. 13 rushes for 128 yards and a couple touchdowns. Awesome game there from Chance over there in Lakeview. So Daven Van Engen, wide receiver out of Canby. So this is Owen Peterson's one of his favorite targets. six receptions for 139 yards and a touchdown there. Awesome game by Daven. Ian Mo Meyer out of Miniota, wide receiver, four receptions for 139 yards and two touchdowns. So part of that Minniota moving crew there. Tristan was hitting him up for a few yards the other night. Four for a thirty one thirty-nine. That's a good average, too. That's that's Jesus.
Joe: Yes, yes, yes, yep.
Paul: That's that's insane. That's Crazy.
Joe: Yeah.
Paul: and then we've got Henry Whisty. This is impressive. You know, he didn't have the most yards, but he went eight for eight. He didn't miss a pass. And 170
Joe: Yeah.
Paul: yards and three touchdowns. So Henry Whisty's
Joe: he's he's efficient. He's good. They're good. That's out they're good.
Paul: awesome. Yeah, this he is awesome. He's he's a heck of a quarterback. so yeah, just man, every week, you know. These these the the kids in southern Minnesota, they cease to amaze us, right? It's just
Joe: Yeah.
Paul: they always have they put up some games and make it hard on us to try to pick who in
Joe: Yeah.
Paul: the world do you do you pick for some of these things, right? So
Joe: Absolutely. Well, I'm gonna I'm gonna throw one in there before we go, before we shut this down.
Paul: Yep, yep, yep.
Joe: Bulk Newson from Caledonia. I don't know, he had a handful of rushes, less than
Paul: Okay.
Joe: five or whatever, for seventy five yards and three touchdowns. And then also re
Paul: nice.
Joe: re returned a a punt for a touchdown. And and then the guy's just a tough ass kid on defense, just sticking his nose in there all the time with a bunch of tackles. So Bol Kin Bo
Paul: Wow, that's a game.
Joe: Bol Kanozen is my guy from the Caledonia weekend or last game last weekend. So good for him and he's just he's
Paul: Heck of a game. Yeah.
Joe: just a tough ass player. He just
Paul: Nice.
Joe: you know sticking his nose in there all the time. So
Paul: That is awesome. Wow. I did not realize that. I did I I don't I don't know that I saw that. I I missed that. So he had a punt.
Joe: Yeah, you're gonna miss it because but you're gonna miss it because he only had like seventy-five yards of rushing, but he had but he had three touchdowns rushing. So and then and then had a punt return
Paul: That's awesome. That's awesome. And then a pun return for a touchdown?
Joe: and then had a punt return for a touchdown on top of that. So, you know, just one of those kids
Paul: what a night. Way to go bull.
Joe: yeah, he's just one of those kids that's just doing, you know, just take care just take care of business. Like he d he doesn't
Paul: Yeah.
Joe: care, he's just working. So,
Paul: Right, right. That's awesome.
Joe: Great weekend for Bo. you know, and he's gonna go play somewhere bigger than bigger than here when it's all done. So what
Paul: Well, I'm gonna take I'm gonna pick the first one and then I'm gonna let you finish with the last two. How about that? We'll switch
Joe: All right, let's go.
Paul: it up a little bit. I'm gonna go I have to give it to Kate Hullapeter from Oatana. I got I got to see the damage this guy can inflict on other teams. Two hundred
Joe: Yeah.
Paul: and ninety seven yards rushing with five touchdowns. He he really controlled and helped w
Joe: Yeah, that's crazy. That's good. That's that's good enough. That's good enough.
Paul: kinda helped win that game. So nice game by Holopeter there. So yeah, who's who's the last two there, but
Joe: Well, we we talked about this quite a bit and went back and forth through all the kids and we're just we're gonna head out to JC JCC. I mean Jacob Cougar and Brody Anderson, I mean, for what they've what they did. I mean
Paul: Yeah.
Joe: broke broke school records. Probably broke other records, who knows? But Jacob Kouger from JCC threw for three eighty five and seven touchdowns and then Brody Anderson five for two forty two and five touchdowns.
Paul: Basically a touchdown yeah, a touchdown every catch. So
Joe: Yeah. And and we we got a guy out there that we love. I mean Gage Gage we love Gage, right?
Paul: Yeah. Yep.
Joe: And we're Gage is gonna jump on this list as they, you know, go through the postseason or as the season ends. But for these guys to jump on there and do what they did, we're not discounting Gage for anything. Congratulations to those guys. We'll send you some t-shirts and man, it's awesome to just watch these guys put up huge stats.
Paul: Yeah, they are there's some awesome, awesome performances every week. I I might even make the prediction that we see Gage on the list here next week against the Laverne team here, so who knows what happens. So
Joe: Yeah. Man, that Laverne that Laverne JCC matchup. Yep, let's see. Let's see what
Paul: It's gonna be fun.
Joe: happens. Gage is gonna be on there. I mean, th JCC's gonna make it run through the state tournament with that
Paul: Yeah.
Joe: line that they have. And we're gonna put their line on there at some point in time, I I feel like, and god dang, they're just they're so good. So anyway
Paul: Yep. Yep. Congratulations to
Joe: That's that's where we're at. So
Paul: yeah, absolutely. Congratulations to everybody on this list. you guys put in some hard work and great efforts here in in week six and it didn't go un it didn't go unnoticed.
Joe: Let's go. Who hey, who's who's winning that six six matchup? You got that? Saint Saint Charles winning?
Paul: Alright, let me just see if we can get one more update here before we it's still twenty to sixteen. two minutes left in the fourth quarter. I think St. Charles may and they have the ball. So they may they may come out of this with a win. St. Charles, baby. Yeah. So hey,
Joe: Yes, let's go. All right. All right. Saint Charles. Let's go.
Paul: all right. That's our that's that's week six. We're we're in week seven actually. We're that's our week seven
Joe: Yeah, week seven.
Paul: show. And we'll see everybody next week. Thanks for doing it, buddy.
Joe: Alright. See ya, buddy.
