Joe: I'm good, I'm good. week five in the books and here we go, on to week six.
Paul: We're on to week six. one thing we were just talking about here that I'm pretty excited about and hopefully a lot of people out there are too is the last couple of years the prepple had been kind of adjusted to the championship weekend being the weekend before the Thanksgiving holiday. But now with the schedule and the calendar the way it is, we're looking We're looking at being back to sorry about the neighbors' dogs over there. We're looking at being back to Thanksgiving weekend. That
Joe: Yeah.
Paul: is amazing. And I don't know what other people think. I love it. I love having it over Thanksgiving weekend. I think it's you have Turkey on Thursday, you watch NFL, and then you watch Prep Bowl for the next couple days.
Joe: it's a great setup. I mean, you have you've got the first round being the twelfth through the fourteenth that weekend, the second round is the nineteenth through the twenty first, and then and then prep bowl week weekend Friday, Saturday, November twenty seventh and twenty eighth. So yeah, lap up the turkey and stuffing on Thursday and make your way up to up to the cities and and be ready for the Prep Bowl.
Paul: Well yeah, wear your sweatpants. Put your sweatpants on after after Thursday. Wear sweatpants right to the bank, right?
Joe: She can burn some calories off cheering on Friday and Saturday.
Paul: You do walk around the stadium a little bit, maybe you'll you know, walk a little gravy off, huh?
Joe: Yeah, yeah. I park in that park in that lot that's a little farther away on on Friday morning. So
Paul: Well, yeah, I it's that's that was good news. we were talking about that, just before we started here and I love the fact that that's back towards that Thanksgiving weekend and there's a lot of tradition I feel like, you know, when it comes to that. You get you're sitting around with the family, sitting around with dad, you know, sitting around with your your son. You got kind of, you know, three generations of watching football sometimes and some houses and Just a fun time, you know, and I I remember I can always think about, you know, taking a little break and maybe a game got out of hand and we head out and go shoot a couple of pheasants and come on back for the nighttime game, you know, and and you know, things like that. It's just some sentimental
Joe: yeah. absolutely. Yep.
Paul: kind of value to that weekend.
Joe: Yeah, it's deer hunting here, you know, it's second season
Paul: Yep.
Joe: here. So we've had Thanksgiving lunch and then made a couple deer drives and and and then back in for a game and some leftovers later on. So yeah,
Paul: As
Joe: it's it's perfect. it's gonna work out well and and you know we're we're excited. It's gonna be a a great weekend.
Paul: It is. Yeah. So I'm glad we kind of discovered that. So not sure you know, who who listens and how many people we got listened out there, but I've gotta believe there's a lot of people that maybe are not even aware of that yet. So one of those things that's kind of cool to kind of know early in it in advance. but hey, leading up to that, Joe, we were kind of talking about well yeah, so we got this tournament and it's like, yeah, we've got some good games here this week, but One of the interesting things we were kind of looking at is who's undefeated anyways, by the way, kind of going into this week six. How do we how many do we have left? And we're getting right down there, aren't we? We don't we don't have just a whole ton of left anymore.
Joe: Yes, probably ten percent, right? I mean in the in the schools that we cover,
Paul: Yeah.
Joe: we're kinda hitting right around ten percent of all the teams that are that are in our area that you know that that's we've got a group of them that are undefeated. So my count is eleven. And you know, it's a it's a group we talk a lot about. I mean the teams that are, you know, their guys that are on our list, teams that are making those, you know, games of the week, you know, fairly often and and you know, they're just right there at the top. So you wanna kick it off with a couple of them or
Paul: Yeah, I was gonna say no, I think I might be off by w I I think I have twelve.
Joe: Yeah, twelve. Yeah, could be. I got all scribbled in here and it it very well could it very well could be twelve.
Paul: Yeah. I I think with some of the the groups of of teams that I that I kinda tend to cover, versus you, it's a split almost a split. I think you've got seven on your side and I've got I've got five from what I can tell here. But starting here on you know, I'm in the land of five A. we're right down to one team here and that's that's Bancada West, who They're down in section two there and they're they're at five and and they're our number three ranked team in state with good reason. They're we talked about them in the past couple weeks here. They're kind of the mancada west of the old, you know, that we're kind of used to. Boy, they they graduate some dudes and then they just reload with a bunch of other dudes and and off they go. So they're one of our undefeated Wilmer out of 4A section two. having just a fantastic year. I can't say it enough. I was pretty high on them to start this year off and they've proven me right, but they've proven a lot of people wrong. You know, I mean they're they're they're coming out strong. I don't know if a lot of people didn't agree with me and but you know, Marshall's been the printing of power there, right? For years. And they really kind of took it to Marshall a couple of weeks ago and and Kind of dominated Hutchinson here last week. So they're kind of through the gauntlet a little bit. So they might be kind of set up here, kind of going into the postseason. and then from there we go to foray section one. Stewie, they're they're the last man standing there when at Stewartville. yep. Yep. When it comes to
Joe: That's the one that's the one I was missing. Yep. I was missing Stuy.
Paul: undefeated. And so both Bayern they They had a tough loss there at Orion, which was the number one team in state. So not a real big chink in the armor there, right? But Caston had a couple two loss two losses in a row there this last couple games. So yeah, things are things are kind of tiered in that in that division right now. So with Stewie still remaining undefeated. So From there at in the three A section three, we've got Laverne because Wasika ended up getting beat by Tri-City United last week, fourteen to twelve,
Joe: Yeah.
Paul: which we'll talk about here in a little bit. But
Joe: Yeah.
Paul: Laverne, a really good team. You know, they're one of those teams way out west, but they're in that section with with that three A section three, and they're they're a really nice looking team. And then From there, my last one is Pine Island. So in section three A one. So they've kinda come back here from a dominant year last year and they've kinda picked right up where they left off. And so they're looking really good. It's it's a little bit more of a complimentary offense maybe compared to last year, you know, when they when they had Nick Tyne there kinda running up and down the field all all game long and they've got a few more contributors it feels like lucky and chills and and some of the
Joe: Yeah, yeah. Lucky. Yeah.
Paul: boys over there and and Skirska and and he's he's having a nice year as well for So I think Pine Island's been real strong and they've taken on. They've been battle tested really too. I mean, they've played some of the tougher teams in their in their conference. So so yeah, there's there's five there and then I know you've got a handful that you wanted to go over.
Joe: Yeah, just just as part of that, you know, in that group, talking about Stewie, you know, a big injury, it sounds like maybe they're the their quarterback, Chatter. hopefully he heals
Paul: Yeah.
Joe: up he heals up quick and, you know, makes it back. we talked about this earlier today. Just, you know, did put his time in waiting for to get in that spot and he's had just a hell of a season so far. So sounds like maybe a broken collarbone. And so yeah, hopefully heals up, makes it back. We were kind of projecting maybe section semis or somewhere there, not that we're his doctors by any means, but really rooting for him to get back you know, to finish this thing off and you know that section isn't maybe not quite the same without him, you know, being there. So with
Paul: Yeah.
Joe: with those matchups with Caston and Byron. So good luck to him. Hopefully he heals up quick and and and gets back.
Paul: Yeah, I hope he does. I just feel terrible for him. It's one of those it's like, Gall darn it, you waited a couple of years to get your chance here and have to have
Joe: Yeah, yeah.
Paul: an unfortunate incident like that. And yeah, you just hope he could we were talking about maybe there's a chance he can be back. They get it that they can get that by in
Joe: And Yeah.
Paul: the quarterfinals and he can be back for that semifinal match. So we'll see. We'll see. Yeah.
Joe: Yeah, yeah. Well, any doctors out there listening, maybe send us, you know, what's the recovery time? Four to six weeks or what what we're thinking four to six, but you know. So
Paul: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Joe: from there, you know, I'm gonna jump into class one a section four. we'll go to Miniota. you know on winning streak, still undefeated, kind of just rolling along. and then also in 1A section three, we've got Springfield there. kinda taking care of taking care of business so far as well. staying in 1A. We also have so that's a matchup this week. Mayor Lutheran and and Cleveland. both those two teams at five and as well. And just kind of cruising along. So
Paul: That's gonna be a good matchup. Yep.
Joe: Yeah, huge game there. section implications, you know. I'm probably gonna be I mean Martin County West is sitting right there at four and one, but you know, likely probably your one and two seeds, you know, however this game plays out. So so I think that's it in one A, those four schools, and then go to two A. We've got Caledonia sitting at five and in section one double A and then JCC still just rolling along the machine is cruising through the year.
Paul: Yep. Well oiled.
Joe: Well oiled Gage Johnson in that offensive line just doing work out there. So and then the last team that I have that's undefeated is Waterville Legion Morristown. you know survived a little scared last week. And you know, I they got maybe kind of a tough matchup this week again here, or maybe a little scary matchup for them with Blooming Prairie this week, who beat Maple River and Maple River damn near beat Waterville last week. So
Paul: Yeah, yeah. That was a game.
Joe: so we will we'll see how that one plays out. And you know that's that's kind of that group of undefeated teams right now.
Paul: So that's what we have left. obviously we're going to be down at least one, because of the Cleveland Mayor Lutheran
Joe: Yep. Yep.
Paul: this week. And you know, that we can think of. yeah, any I mean anyone can go down at any time, but when you're looking at this right now, if I had to guess, everybody else is you know I didn't see any matchups that were, you know, looked a little that looked too ominous, I guess, for for some of these others. So yeah, so we're gonna definitely lose one of those undefeated here this weekend, and I think that's gonna be a fun one. And we'll get into that here in a little bit. we'll get back into here. I continued my streak of bad picks again this this week
Joe: Sub bar X, yeah.
Paul: with with our picks of the week our games of the week from last week. And although I I I went two for five on those picks, there were some really good games there and on a couple of So if you want, I can just jump into those and swing it back over to you and
Joe: Yeah, just yeah, just pop pop through yep.
Paul: so last week was the Addington Jug contest there in in Rochester between Mail and Century. And man, the way Century had been playing, I I just kinda had this feeling like maybe they'd be able to kinda come up with something magical there against mail and bring the jug home. but they didn't. And Mail Mail really showed up in a very dominant way in one forty one to fourteen. really kind of just shut sentry down altogether. I don't I don't know even where the points from Sentry came from because it was I don't know if it even mattered. So Max Erickson for Mail, really and then Xavier Adams, I think Mail finally realized that they're not a passing team like they were last year and their strength is Grounding pound baby. And when you've got a guy like Max Erickson, he's gonna be able to do that for you. And Xavier Adams too. He's he's another he's a good runner. And yeah, they pretty much ran all over him. So forty one fourteen male over century. And that I got that one wrong. one of the other games, I'm gonna just go down with what I did get wrong. Chan Hassan played Mankato East last week and that was at Mankato East and I had picked East. I thought maybe they could kinda get into a shootout with Chan Hassan and it didn't really come to fruition as Chan Hassan comes out on top twenty one to eighteen. So it was a game. Blake Camphoff for East had a really nice game, but Jay Kaiser for Chan Hassan, the quarterback, had a really good game and commanded that offense pretty well. So hats off to those guys. But Blake Cap Blake Campoff, he's been the running back for East Tier for the last couple of years. We've talked about him in the past, past shows, and he's he's exceptional. He's a really good running back. Did a he did about what he everything he could, I think, in that game, but came up a little short. So, and then the other one that was was a stinger was TCU Tri-City United taking down Waseka fourteen to twelve. I had said last week I I did like Tri-City United, but I wasn't picking against Wasika until I saw someone prove it. Well, Tri City went in there and proved it. So
Joe: Yeah.
Paul: yeah, that was I saw that win and I thought, my gosh, somebody finally got to and
Joe: Yeah.
Paul: And I think it kinda goes back to what we were saying. Tri City United has a they can score. and they've they've they had some p really good defense, you know, that they've put to use there against Wasika, obviously. So
Joe: Well yeah, I hold Wasika to twelve points. I mean their
Paul: Yeah.
Joe: their defense showed up. that's a team that's won a lot of games over the last two seasons. So you know, hats off
Paul: Absolutely. Yep.
Joe: to TCU here. You know, that's a couple weeks in a row. I mean, they've been on this list. I mean they you had with Saint Peter, you had you picked to get beat by Saint Peter too. And they
Paul: Yeah, yeah.
Joe: went in there and scored forty against Saint Peter. So
Paul: Yeah.
Joe: you know, maybe maybe think about starting to be a TCU fan from here on out.
Paul: Yeah, TC I think TCU s starting to get not just my attention but everyone's attention here. It's like, okay, what do we got going here? And I
Joe: Absolutely. Yeah.
Paul: and I do feel bad. I should have recognized it earlier and I just you know, when you got some of these teams, you know, I mean, that's a
Joe: Well, I think I think you get a chance to to redeem yourself here in a little bit, right? I think so
Paul: I do. I do. Yes, I do. Yep. and then I did go with Mancato West over Chaska, which you know, I kinda told you last week I said I'm not that excited for this game as I would have been maybe three weeks ago. w
Joe: Yeah.
Paul: West really kinda took care of it. Thirty five twenty one. you know, another I'm sure strong performance by by the whole West crew there and The and then Wilmer over Hutchinson that I got right.
Joe: Yeah.
Paul: Wilmer went into Hutchinson and really kind of took care of business 28 to 7. Wilmer's defense obviously showed up real strong and because Hutchinson can run the ball, man. They can run on you and they they kind of got shut down. So wasn't a whole lot going on there for for Hutch. And so Anyways, that tapped off that that week for me, going two and five and and just limping along for th through the year here on these picks.
Joe: Well just a couple couple things on the on those. I mean Wilmer feels like a team kind of that was built for this season. Like they
Paul: Yeah.
Joe: they've grown in the right guys have grown in and are you know seniors and contributing at the right time. And it just feels like that team was basically made for this season right now.
Paul: Yeah. Yep. I agree with you. They they've their skill players are so good. Aidan Paulson, I think, maybe had one of the catches of the week. we did get a a video and a picture sent that I think I'm gonna get that on social media, but just an awesome, awesome one handed catch for a touchdown and then and then his his teammate Cody Schnickels and and then obviously Schoberg and and Alex Hoppe there. So they really got some dynamic players on offense there, but then man, they're good on defense. So they're
Joe: Yeah.
Paul: they're just yeah, I think you're right. I think they're built for taking on this year and being, you know, looked at as the new guy. And now they're rank three in state. So they're they're right where they're
Joe: Yep. Yep.
Paul: there where they want to be.
Joe: Then my other question for you is Chian and Chaska,
Paul: Yep.
Joe: are you buying one, selling one, selling both, buying both for the end of the season? What do you what are you thinking with these two teams? Yep. Yep.
Paul: At this point I'm selling Chaska and I'm buying Chan. Well, I'm for sure selling Chaska. I don't know that I'm buying Chan only because of the section, because I s
Joe: Gonna hold. Gonna hold on, Chan.
Paul: I'm gonna hold on Chan, but I'm selling on Chaska at this point
Joe: Yeah.
Paul: because I still believe in I believe strongly in Mankato West, but also even more in Waconia than I do Chan Hassan. So yep. So
Joe: Yeah, yeah.
Paul: I'll hold on those guys, but yeah, Chaska, man, you guys, you know, good luck to ya, but I think you've broken my heart enough through this part of the year, so
Joe: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. All right. I'm gonna jump into mine then. So I'm gonna start with I'm gonna start with JCC, Minnesota Valley Lutheran. you know, we we threw this one on there. JCC just did its you know, they just did the thing that they always do and Gage Johnson had a huge game again or three quarters. fifty three fourteen there and I I mean I had picked them you know I feel like that was kind of the pretty safe pick there with that one. and then I'll go to Sleepy Eye at Mayor Lutheran. I I picked Sleepy Eye kind of as a maybe a little upset to go in there but Mayor Luther Lutheran took care of business forty seven twenty eight and we're gonna talk about them here a little bit more with What we got coming up. in a game that Know Redwood Valley is not in necessarily in our area, but New Richland was New Richmond Hartleybo is playing them. And I I picked Nirhag in the upset. You know, I said, come on, Sean Lasan, you know, let's
Paul: Yep. Yep.
Joe: let's show us a game. And and they they really didn't disappoint. I mean, they took Redwood Valley to the limit here, two overtimes and 50 to 42 loss, but hell of a game for them. And I we were talking about This yesterday, maybe a couple days ago, whatever. New Richmond Hartland Ellen El Geneva is is battle-tested right now. I mean, they have a tough schedule,
Paul: they are yeah.
Joe: and I don't think I would want them, you know, on my schedule right now. They're just they're just playing tough and and proved it again that you know they're playing up in that game and took them to the limit. So
Paul: Right. And against the top three ranked team in the state.
Joe: Yeah, yeah, an undefeated team. You know, we didn't talk about because they're not in our undefeated list, but I'm I'm pretty sure Redver Valley's undefeated too. So so kudos. No.
Paul: Yeah, yeah, I think they are. Yeah. I would not want Nerhag going into playoffs. Because they're they like you said, they have gone through the gauntlet and they've done pretty well.
Joe: Yeah. So You know, I missed missed that one, but shout out to them guys. I mean, hell of a game there. one that I got right here was I picked Rusher Peterson over Chatfield. Rushford, you know, ends up beating twenty eight to fourteen. sounds like that game could have been a little closer than what the score really showed. a couple turnovers in there and things that didn't go Chatfield's way. That maybe this game, you know, could have been a little tighter. But Rush for Peterson still just kind of rolling, you know, doing their thing and picking up wins.
Paul: Mm-hmm.
Joe: So they're stacking wins. So it doesn't really matter if it could have been closer or not. They're still racking them up. So
Paul: Yep. Yep.
Joe: another team that I don't know if I want them on my on my side of the bracket either in the playoffs. So
Paul: Yeah.
Joe: So yeah, that that's that's it. I think I went two and two you know, for for last week, so
Paul: Alright, so you didn't did you didn't gain too much ground on me then this we both had two right, so
Joe: Yeah, yeah. Yeah, y yeah. So you're still behind by a lot, so that's really what matters. So
Paul: Yeah, but I don't get like good you know, good ones like Jackson College Sam show to pick from, so there's that.
Joe: Well you gotta sometimes you gotta build one of those in.
Paul: Yeah, I guess. Yeah. well no, that's good. All right. Where are we sitting at on the year? Do you have it? Like tally?
Joe: boy. Not really. If you wanna start I'll I'll yeah. If you wanna start kinda l yeah,
Paul: It's okay. I don't wanna yeah, I'm not we're not looking to take a bunch of time to do it.
Joe: leading into this week I'll I'll I'll add up here quick.
Paul: So for week six, I have our games my games of the week that I'm covering are Cam and Byron, obviously. that's gonna be that's gonna be a big one. Zimbroda Mazeppa versus Cotter. that to me is almost as exciting as anything. Zimbroda Mazeppa and Cotter. Marshall versus Orino. Oro isn't obviously a team that we cover. But Marshall is so that's a huge game. I think Marshall is either seven or eight in state rankings right now, where Oro is number one. Orno, you know, obviously as we know, beat Byron handily earlier this year. TCU as we were talking earlier has new ohm at new ohm this week. And then one that's near and dear to my heart, we have Northfield at Oatana here this week. So that's gonna be another big game there as well. I'm gonna do the same thing you did last week. I'll avoid making a pick in that game. We can talk about it here a little bit, but
Joe: Yeah.
Paul: you know I don't really have a I don't really w need to go into betting on on the home team or the opposite team. So what's your teams here? Do we'll just kinda intro to what we're kinda looking at here and then we can kinda I'll let you jump into your first few.
Joe: Alright, so quickly, I'm 11 and 9, and you are 10 and 14. Okay, so so one of us is above 500 and one of
Paul: okay, so alright, alright. Yeah, yeah, all right. Yeah.
Joe: us is below by a little bit. So nothing you can't work your way out of. But
Paul: Okay, well no I can work out of that yet.
Joe: I've got good hue and cannon falls to start to start with, you know, a big section match up there.
Paul: Yeah, that's an exciting one.
Joe: and then Rich and Hart, Lindell Nil Geneva versus Fillmore Central. in what likely is gonna be a good sh a good shootout between those two. And then I'll skip down to Lero Ostander, Lyle Pacelli versus Lanesborough. match up there and then we're gonna wrap it up with the game of the week from from my picks, Mayor Lutheran and and Cleveland, the two undefeated teams. So
Paul: Yep. Yep.
Joe: so so yeah, I don't know if you want me to jump in or you wanna jump in and and we we talk about these games a little bit or
Paul: Yeah, why don't you why don't you kinda jump into your first couple there and then yeah, let's kinda go through some of those bad boys.
Joe: So we start started with Good Hue and Cannon Falls, both four and one, both in the same section. And you know, this is gonna be a telling game, I feel like, with you know, Good Hugh losing early to Triton and Cannon Falls having a loss as well, you know, which one of these two teams is gonna gonna take over this section? You know, I I fell in love with that Goodhue team from last year and really liked what what they had going on. But Griffin Peterson and Cannon Falls and that Cannon Falls defense and that you know wing T, power T offense that they run, I think they might be a little bit too much for Goodhue this weekend. so I'm gonna take Cannon Falls in this one. And we'll see we'll see how that plays out. I don't know if this thing's gonna be a shootout or not. I feel like the defenses may may step up a little bit here and maybe not a complete blowout. I I don't think one team is can blow the other team out. Like I really don't. I think this is probably you know, maybe they both get in the twenties or something like that, or it's a twenty eight twenty game or something. But but I'm gonna but I'm definitely I'm gonna I'm gonna lean towards Canon Falls in here as much as I hate picking against that Goodyear team that you know We had so much fun watching last year. So but
Paul: Right, right.
Joe: I think Canon Falls maybe a little a little tougher scheduled at this point. Maybe just a little bit and and that defense maybe just overpowers that Good Who offense. So
Paul: Well, I tell you what, I am with you on that. I can't really I I was looking at that again and I'm like, I just I can't get myself to go against Ken Falls in that one.
Joe: Yeah. Yep. And I and
Paul: So I
Joe: And here's where we find out, you know, here's where we find out. Is does Goodhue have that championship kind of drive in still this year, you know, from last year. They g are they gonna w you know, if they come and win this game, that kinda changes my opinion about, you know, Goodhue and where they might be heading, you know. But
Paul: Right, right.
Joe: yeah, so we'll see. You know, that's a a proving game right there. And obviously it's probably one where whoever wins this game is probably the one seed in the section tournament. So,
Paul: Right. Yep.
Joe: And then my next game is Nurhag versus Fillmore. and and I'm a Nurhag fan at this point. I you know, I I'll
Paul: Yeah.
Joe: I mean I picked him last week against Redwood Valley and I'm I'm gonna take him again this week because I I think they probably are a little pissed they they let that one just slip away. I mean they gave it one hell of an effort, but I these guys just I they just feel like a tough, tough group. Just a group of kids that just battle. So
Paul: Jesus, I hope they don't throw like nails out in the road when they see you coming driving through here.
Joe: Yeah. I I mean and and this is also I mean this is this is a game
Paul: Ha ha ha.
Joe: where I changed my mind on Fillmore too. Fillmore beats
Paul: Yeah.
Joe: Fillmore beats Nurhag this week and and then it kind of changes okay, all right, Fillmore's they're settled that they they are that championship type team. They are that team that's gonna make that run again. but it starts by winning this game. They don't win this game, and I'm probably selling Fillmore, right? So
Paul: Okay, yeah,
Joe: but
Paul: yeah.
Joe: I'm I'm gonna take New Richland. I'm not out on Fillmore by any means. I you know, obviously they're they're close to home here and you know they got some damn good players and I just I just think New Richland's battle tested toughness and their grittiness wins out in this one.
Paul: Yep. Yep. Yep. I I oof boy. I'm on the toss up on that one. I'm glad you have to make that pick. But is it in is do we know is it at fair or is it
Joe: let's look here quick. To see where this game is at.
Paul: 'Cause
Joe: I think they went out to Redwood I think New Richland went out to Redwood Valley last weekend.
Paul: I I think you're right. I thought they did too. I thought they went to Redwood Valley.
Joe: They're so they're going to Fillmore. It's at it's in it's at Fillmore. So So yeah, they were they
Paul: Okay, so yeah, all right. Yeah, yeah, that's gonna be that's gonna be a game.
Joe: were at W Redwood Valley last week and then at Fillmore this week. So
Paul: That's kind of a boy, that's a oofta. That's a tough two week haul there.
Joe: Well, I mean just you know, they they started out with Sleepy Eye, you know, won that game forty two thirty seven,
Paul: Yeah.
Joe: being Saint Clair in in there twenty eight fourteen, then lost to Southland, you know, thirty two twenty.
Paul: Yeah.
Joe: turn around clip Lewiston, you know, pretty handily, and then have the battle out there with Redwood Valley last week. So
Paul: Yeah, yeah.
Joe: And we'll get through this one and then Medford and United South Central to kind of finish out the season. So they're gonna be up for this one, I think. And and and but it's Brennan Ball, right, at Fillmore.
Paul: Yeah.
Joe: they're they're QB and Quincy Casey and and all those guys. I mean they're that's yeah,
Paul: Grant Daniel, Sue, right?
Joe: there's it's not this is no slouch, you know, game here. I mean, and these guys know how to win. So
Paul: Yep.
Joe: it's gonna be a gre great game between these two. So
Paul: Nice, nice.
Joe: but so yeah, you wanna take a couple, then we'll come back and finish up.
Paul: Yeah. so I'm gonna go from there to one of the games that I think is pretty exciting as far as more statewide and it's Marshall versus Arnold. I I I think that's going to be a game that's really looked at across the state probably more than you know, maybe even our area. I'm sure a lot of the lot of the big big folks are gonna be looking at that game, but Marshall's coming in four and one. Orange's five and Oro, you know, they've played a couple tough teams like Byron, and they really dominated them, you know, 37 14. And you know, where Marshall had that one hiccup there with Wilmer, but they really kind of got shut down in the second half of that game. And so but they bounced back really nice last week. So I think Marshall is now in a point of they're they're working that adversity right they're they've kind of gone through some adversity that they really haven't gone through in the last year and a half and so but they average they average thirty two yards of offense scoring and they give up fourteen where or no averages fourteen forty eight forty eight a game but they also give up the same fourteen on defense and so You know, as much as I want as w as I want to pick Marshall, I don't know that I can. I just I Oro's quarterback that they brought in who replaced the guy from last year who I forget his name now, but he went and played a butler for baseball, right? Down there with Brady Grady Babcock from Casson and
Joe: Yeah.
Paul: he was a heck of a player last year for him. their quarterback is he's been phenomenal. He's been really good this year and really leading that offense. So sorry, Marshall. I mean I love you guys, but I I gotta go with Orino on this one and I hope you guys prove me wrong. So Yeah, they're I think they're seven or eight. I wanna say they're seven or eight and four A. Yeah. Yeah, they're right in there somewhere.
Joe: Marshall's sitting at like number nine. Is that is that where they're at right now? Like like seven or eight? Okay. Okay. Okay. The thing of it is though, you know, they they had the loss to Wilmer. So do they feel like they're coming to this game with nothing to lose?
Paul: a little bit, right? Because this is also not a section game.
Joe: Right.
Paul: So it's kinda like if you do lose it doesn't really hurt you anymore.
Joe: Yeah.
Paul: and so but Wilmer is also not playing a section game, I don't think, this year this weekend either. So there's you know, so the chances to kinda get back here winding down, you know, right? You got
Joe: Yeah, yeah.
Paul: this game and then two weeks and and you've gotta have a two week a two game swing really at the end of the day. if
Joe: Yeah.
Paul: you're a Marshall. So yeah, I just I just think Ornal, the way they controlled some of these teams and the way they've scored, they might just be a little too much for not just Marshall, but for really anybody that plays them this year.
Joe: Yeah, yeah.
Paul: So from there I'm gonna go to the other one that I I think is is about as exciting as anything and that's Zimbrotum Zeppa and Cotter. They're playing at Zombrota Mazappa here this this weekend and both both teams come in four and one. and here's the great part. Both teams have something in common where they've only lost their only losses to Pine Island for both of them.
Joe: Yeah.
Paul: And Zombrota lost by ten, I think it was twenty to ten. couple weeks ago and and then Cotter lost twenty one fourteen. You know, so they only lost by seven. So these teams are extremely the reason I'm excited about that they're extremely evenly matched. I think these this these two teams maybe are this might be one of the most evenly matched games of the of the week and they they both Zimbroda averages thirty five points a game, Cotter forty. Cotter gives up twelve points a game. Zombroda g Mazeppa gives up four on average. So other than Pine Island scoring and beating Zombroda, they haven't allowed anyone else to score. And I
Joe: Yeah. Yeah.
Paul: think that's gonna be my difference maker in this game. So I'm gonna go with Zombroda. I do like Cotter a lot, but I just think that defense there that Zombrota has. And not only that, this last couple weeks, I feel like Zimbroda has even kind of kind of found their groove a little bit more, and they're kind of really kind of humming along right now. And they might be a little scary to kind of get into here at by the end of the the season. So Hayden Boras over there is having just an awesome few games here. and Tate Olson as well. So there's a good supporting cast there. the defense is strong. Boy. Cotter coming into, you know, un unwelcome territory really at the end of the day and and having to try to get through that defense I think is gonna be in my mind a little too much. So I'm gonna go Zombroda on that one. But I think it should be a pretty exciting game. I think it should be close at the end of the day, really. So
Joe: I agree. I mean, I think it's probably gonna be a pretty tight game between the two. That I think the difference is is Zombrota coming up, right? This season. Zombroda's Zimbroda's put themselves in the mix where they weren't last year. Cotter and Pine Island have have been in this role, you know, the last last couple of years or whatever. Last year for Pine Island and Cotter being in the section finals. but W Zimbroda putting themselves putting definitely putting themselves in the mix. So
Paul: For sure.
Joe: you know, we'll see. We'll see how they if they're up up to the pressure of this one. I mean, this is for a home playoff game, you know, probably in that two
Paul: Okay.
Joe: two three matchup, really.
Paul: Yep, it is. Yep, exactly. Yeah, 'cause Pine Island I think's kinda gone through their gauntlet here a little bit too, so they've kinda, you
Joe: Yeah, yeah.
Paul: know, gone through the tougher part of their schedule. So yeah, so it'll be you're right. And they're trying to get down to that who's got that next seed. So I'll give you one more here and then I'll let you take your last couple and then I've got a couple after that. But we're
Joe: All right.
Paul: gonna jump back to that T C U and new game.
Joe: All right.
Paul: Yeah, Ti Tri City United. They're both coming in four and one. Now Tri City United is a three A team playing up versus New Ulm, who's a four A team. The game is in New Ulm.
Joe: So, you telling me are you making excuses of why you should pick new all? I mean, are we heading in that direction?
Paul: Well, okay, just hear me out.
Joe: Yeah.
Paul: Okay. You you you Jackson County Central, you know, bandwagon guy. And Minyota. You get all the guys. Yeah, you get all
Joe: Well, this is this is your this
Paul: the
Joe: this is your third week to try to get TCU right here. Let's go.
Paul: Well, they here's what I like. They're they average twenty six points a game on offense. They give up eighteen. Now I'm a little concerned about that against New Home. They average twenty nine points a game, so very similar, but they only give up about ten. Newholm's only loss came to Albert Lee. That to me is a very much of an outlier game. I don't know how that really happened. Tri City United beat Albert Lee, I think, earlier in the year. And but they lost to a really good Bell Plain team. you know, only by eleven. So they were in that game. But they also beat Wasica last week, so they're that team. That I said, you know, I'm not going against Wasika until someone proves me they can do it, and here comes Tri City United going, All right, we'll show ya. We'll we'll be the ones to do it. And they go and and they take care of them. So you know, I'm really hoping Tri City can tighten up on that defense a little bit. But I'm gonna go with them to go to New Olm and take down New Ulm. The new Olm Eagles. And I'm gonna go try City United. You've got you've proven me wrong two weeks in a row. Don't let this be the week that you fool me again. So can we just come on, throw a guy a bone here?
Joe: yeah. So n yeah, now you're a fan. Now you're a fan.
Paul: Well yeah. I mean yeah. I
Joe: Okay.
Paul: mean kind of. They've proven me wrong two weeks in a row. At least I don't have teams that I you know, I just ride the wave all year long like you do, but you know, whatever. So I'm gonna that's those I'm gonna let you finish out yours and then I've got a couple here to finish up on.
Joe: Alright, I'm gonna I'm gonna go to Legro, Oyster, Lyapichelli versus Lanesboro. Okay. And
Paul: Okay, yep.
Joe: interesting deal here is just looking at this. You know, everybody knows how much Reed Hungerholt and those guys can can score some points, right? but lanesboro's right there with them.
Paul: Yeah.
Joe: and Their only loss is to Alden Conger, who's 5-0. So, and that was that was a close game. So, yeah, so
Paul: And a top ten team from what I remember, right? They're like yeah.
Joe: Lero O'Strander with Reed Hungerholt, they're putting up 30.4 points per game. Lanesborough's putting up 34.4. Okay. Giving up 19.
Paul: Nice.
Joe: And the Roy's given up 13. So you've got about
Paul: Okay.
Joe: a two point differential between these two teams. So
Paul: Right. Right.
Joe: Lanesboro finds a way, which, you know, they're they're they've already played Alden Conger, who is, you know, one of the best teams. And yeah, twenty twenty-eight, twenty-two they lost in that game. So
Paul: Okay, okay.
Joe: they they have given up some points, you know, they gave up thirty to Mabel, twenty-two to Grand Medal. you know, both good teams, but their offense is able to to to score enough. So I don't know, I have a hard time picking against Reed and and that the offense that that they have. So I'm gonna go let's see here, where is this game at Friday night? Come on. Okay. So it's at Lanesborough. Ooh.
Paul: it's Donald The Burrows, boy.
Joe: That's at Lanesboro. So interesting here looking at the schedule. So Leroy plays Lanesborough this week, and then they they they host Alden Conger next week. So probably looking
Paul: geez, wow. Okay.
Joe: we could be looking at a you know so I'm gonna take Leroy because I wanna set up this huge matchup with all the Conger next week. So
Paul: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Joe: So I'm gonna go, I'm gonna go with Reed Hungerholt and the boys to go in there and score, you know, and one extra touchdown to beat Lanesborough, probably. I think it's gonna be a close game. Lanesborough's gonna be right in there with it. They're gonna put up some points too. And but I'm gonna I'm gonna take Leroy to set up a huge matchup next week against Alvin Conger.
Paul: I like it. Okay.
Joe: So you wanna finish up and then we'll talk about that undefeated game to to end it.
Paul: Yeah, okay, let's do that. So from there, I'm going into I well, you talk about Marshall and Orinoa as being one of the games that's gonna be watched throughout the state. We've also got Cam versus Byrne, that will be you know watched closely throughout the state as well.
Joe: Absolutely. Yeah. Absolutely.
Paul: as we know, Cam lost to Stewartville. Really in an instant classic, double overtime,
Joe: Yeah.
Paul: twenty one to nineteen, lost by two points there, a couple weeks back, three weeks back, and then just had that kind of just kind of crazy weird week, right? Where where Providence Academy comes in, really has no business. you know Yeah,
Joe: Homecoming.
Paul: it's homecoming. really has no business really being there and comes in and gets steals the win on on homecoming night, thirteen to ten. And so you know, but KM kinda rallies back. You know, they get a they get a nice you know, get right game here with Fairbow and and shut him out and do that whole thing. And and then you got Bayern who's coming into the game four and one and their only loss is to number one Orino that we talked about earlier. I mean Orno did kind of control that game. I still feel like something you know, I'd I'd love to be able to talk to Coach Halder and and, you know, was there was there something that
Joe: Yeah, just missing that night. Just off.
Paul: Yeah, there just feels like something just feels off. And so it feels like an outlier game a little bit, just because they beat Orno r handily last year almost by the same score. You know, and
Joe: Yeah. Yeah.
Paul: it's just like you they knew that team and I don't know what the difference was this year. You know, like I said, the quarterback for Orno is very good, but so is Rodemeyer. And and so
Joe: Yeah.
Paul: I don't know. But anyways, we have We've got and and you know and then not not only that, so they they lost those guys. Well then they brought Hill Murray at the time was number four. in foray came down to Byron and really Bayern controlled that game. I mean twenty one fourteen was the win. It sounds closer than it was, but it was really never that close. So
Joe: Yeah, yeah.
Paul: you know, they're I think Byron right now though, the the crazy thing is is I just really feel like they've hit their rhythm and they're kinda they're kinda cruising right now, it just feels like. And I think they're getting they're getting a little scary. they're super efficient on offense. They're their offense is so efficient. You got Rotemeyer, you got Bo Nicola, Jordanheimer. The offensive line is really strong. I mean, you watch some of their plays, I mean, everyone's out hitting somebody and they're making gaps and alleys for people to go run through that you know you can drive your truck down through so they're they're getting to be a a little scary at this point of the year they're only they're only allowing 14 points a game on defense so hard to score on them as well. Casson's only averaging know they're only giving up eleven points a game now the only difference here is what I want to kind of see is this is more when we talk about some of these games and it comes down to some adver adversity and you kind of getting your your chin dusted and and you know you're kind of going what just happened here this is casting now right they didn't really they had those tough games that they kind of came out on top of last year and they sub and they survived them They figured out a way to survive. Well, this year it's not happening. Now you're going through some adversity. How do you respond to that? And do you guys come back and and they're like, hey, we're gonna really this we're not doing this anymore. So that's kind of really what I wanna see. I'd love to see them come back and and control this game against Bayern because if we know, I mean, with that offense of of Casting, they could decide we're gonna control this clock and make sure you guys don't get that ball back. And go on some long drives.
Joe: Yeah. If they can sustain yeah.
Paul: if they can sustain him. you also have a very tough defense with Byron. So, you know, at the end of the day, this game is at Cassen and I just yeah, this isn't gonna sit well, but I I think I gotta go with Byron. i it doesn't sit well with the home crew here and and but When I'm looking at this game, I I just look at Byron is is really strong, but they're and it's not even that right now. I feel like they're just kind of hitting their groove. And they're just hitting their their the part of the year where that things are really, really starting to click.
Joe: Yeah, I I mean I would agree with you a hundred percent. And you know, likewise it's not gonna sit well and you know, with the home the home crowd here. But I mean maybe maybe that win at Fairbow helped right the ship, but I've I've heard there's Maybe a little little turmoil, you know, and the camaraderie isn't like perfect right now at Casson or wasn't. Maybe that Fairbow win helped put, you know, kind of bring everything back together and, you know, reset things. this Byron game's gonna tell a lot about I think more so about the Casson team than the Byron team. So does Cass you know,
Paul: for sure. I agree.
Joe: does does Casson show up here and and and do we get one of these these great matchup games that we've had? I feel like this one may be the first one of this series over the last couple of years where that's not the case, where Byron maybe handles this game. So and I hope we're wrong
Paul: Yeah.
Joe: as Casting guys and we're motivating this team somehow and and we're we're wrong and we're talking about this next week. but I I'm with you. I think Byron I think Byron maybe wins this one by a couple scores, honestly. And and breaks that trend
Paul: Yeah. Yeah.
Joe: breaks that trend of, you know, those three point three points or less wins here.
Paul: Well, and you know, it's not that crazy to think because, you know, they handled them in the first game last year. I think they beat thirty-four twenty-one, if I remember correctly, the first time around. And
Joe: Yeah.
Paul: so, you know, it's not that crazy to kind of think.
Joe: Yeah.
Paul: and so it it definitely could happen. It's it's but I guess what you're kinda hoping there's a a casting team who's looked at in high regard across the state that they can kind of bounce back from a a kind of a weird loss to a Providence team and
Joe: Yeah.
Paul: at least fight back and and stay competitive and and make this a game.
Joe: Yeah.
Paul: So I just yeah, you know, I I just think Byron is they're scary right now and I think they're just gonna have maybe a little bit too much. But so sorry Caston, sorry for sorry for that we're going against but I, you know We're kind of looking at how we see it here. So and then from there.
Joe: Hey, prove us prove us wrong.
Paul: Yep. Yep. That's right. Exactly. That's why you play the game, right? so I'm doing this last one and then we're heading it back to you there. So the last one, I'm not gonna pick the game, but it is a pretty important game. I don't think it's gonna get a lot of attention because we just that these games don't seem to, but it's Northfield Oatana. We're kind of smack dab, you know, in between Rochester and the cities where the dead zone where no one seems to care. But I I right and so
Joe: Yeah. Yeah.
Paul: this game is gonna be interesting. both teams are coming in four and one. Northfield lost to a really good Waconia team. and and Oatana lost to a very good Mancata West team. So we've both lost to a couple of those top section two five A teams and really almost by the same same score. it was interesting. So it's gonna be interesting that way. You know, Northfield ends up they swept North or Oatana last year, which hadn't happened in a while. And so Oatana is obviously, you know, they're looking for for a reason to come back here and And take care of Northfield. Or well, we're going there. So Northfield is actually gonna be an Oatana.
Joe: Yeah, you're at yeah, you're at A Watana, yep.
Paul: but yeah, so you know, so it's gonna be a really good game. And you know, obviously Oatana is very much improved over last year. So skill players, offensive line, Sam Doolitz, he's a stud. He's going to play Division II football for Sioux Falls next year. He's awesome. He anchors that line and he's a he's a dominant force. So yeah, so he'll be a problem both ways. Correct.
Joe: Does he play both ways? Does he play both ways? Yeah. Yeah.
Paul: Yep. And they've got really good skilled players. Hello, Hella Peter and and Bach and this Ralph kid and Aiden Tachman has really come on. He's he's very much improved. over last year and he's having a heck of a year. So they're skill players and they're just a solid team. They're back to kind of Oatana football, right? Last year was a little down and they got better though as the year went on last sh last year. So that was the crazy part. But they're right back there now. So it's gonna be one heck of a game on Friday night and it'll kind of it could end up determining who has that buy in five A section one, whoever wins that game Friday night. So again, I'm not gonna make that pick. I don't need to do an anything like that, but just a fun one to kinda for everyone out there keep your eye on and we'll see
Joe: Yep.
Paul: what happens. So
Joe: Yeah, well, good luck to you guys. I mean the Northfield team and and I know, you know, as a quarterback dad, you're it's this is a big game and a little nerves this week going into that thing and you know,
Paul: Yeah.
Joe: however. But yeah, it's a big game, both four and one and and you know, kinda one of those games you wanna get for sure.
Paul: Yep, absolutely. Well let leads us into this. Yeah, let leads us into this undefeated game here.
Joe: Okay, should we wrap it up? Let's let's let's wrap it up with Mayor Lutheran and Cleveland. both these teams five and This is section game, you know Probably the one seed and two seed, you know, as this thing plays out. Like I said earlier, Martin County West maybe could sneak in there somehow. But you know, definitely that home field advantage game here. And Cleveland has been dominant the last two seasons during the regular season, undefeated last year during the regular season, marching through this one. But you know, Mayor Lutheran scoring 42 points a game, only giving up eleven. But here's the difference. Maker, you know, Cleveland also scoring 36 a game, but only giving up five, you know, 5.8, 6, 6 points a game. So, you know, just their defense kind of kind of making you know the difference here. for Cleveland, you know, you got Carson Lions and Tanner, Tanner Simonette, who we've talked about in the past. You know, Carson Lyons coming off a pretty good game last week, a hundred and fifty yards passing, and then kind of finished off a few drives with some short rushing touchdowns. And then you go over to Mayor Luther's side with, you know, their QB. Gabe Shimonamansky, you know, we talked about him a little bit earlier today with two eight passing last week and three touchdowns and and and rush for another fifty yards on five carries. So a ten yard average when he's when he's tucking the ball and taking off. So
Paul: Right, right.
Joe: you know, so I you know, I don't know. I mean this is for Cleveland they're kinda heading into the the the meat of their schedule, really, here, you know, Mayor Luther this week, Lester Prairie next week, and then Martin County West to to finish. So
Paul: Yeah.
Joe: you know, they get the the tester of their schedule kind of playing out.
Paul: Coming up. Yep.
Joe: Mayor Lutheran, you know, coming off the the sleepy eye win last week, they've already beat Martin County West earlier this year and you know they so they finished with St. James and and Leicester Prairie to kinda wrap it up. So I'm gonna I'm gonna go with Cleveland in this one. I just feel like you know they're they're home and they've they've they've just controlled the regular season games here the last couple years. They're they're so good. and and I think Carson Lyon and the and the boys and Tanner Simonette are gonna show up and and take care of business here in this one and and give Cleveland the win this week.
Paul: I I tend to agree with you on that one. I would I am right there on board. I just think man you got and you got Braden Smith in there too. And
Joe: Yep. Yep.
Paul: White Krenik, he's another kid that he he he contributes a lot there too. And I just think man, Carson Lyons, he's awesome. He's a stud. And you know what? And that when it comes to This part of the the season. See, they haven't had to kinda really go too crazy. They it it they're they've had the lighter part of their schedule.
Joe: Yeah.
Paul: And now is gonna be like now now we go ball out, right? And they've got some guys who can ball out. And I know Mayor Mayor Lutheran does too, but Cleveland, they've they've kind of proven it here the last couple years, and I think these guys have got a lot of experience and I'm right there with you. I I would take Cleveland all day long, I think, on that one. Not I mean, no disrespect to Mare Lutheran at all. I just I just think Cleveland is a is a really good team that is gonna be tough to beat.
Joe: Well, I think Cleveland has a frickin' burning desire to correct what happened last year. You know, I I I mean
Paul: Yes, yes.
Joe: any of those kids that were juniors that are now seniors and and you know, guys that are back this season. have a burning desire to to get get past where they finished up. You know, I mean, they handled Gibbon during the regular season twenty nine to eight and then turnaround lost to him in the first round of sections twenty six, twenty seven. So I I I
Paul: Yeah. Yeah, that's brutal.
Joe: I'm pretty sure that goes stays with them every single day of practice in every one of these games. They're they're j they're focused and they're not gonna have any letdowns this year. So that's
Paul: Mm-hmm. Yeah.
Joe: that's my pick with Cleveland and you know they beat Mayor Luther in this game last year fourteen zero. So you know, a tough game. and
Paul: Yep. Yep.
Joe: they've got, you know, and then Leicester Prairie to to f you know went to and Martin County West to to finish it out. So but
Paul: Yeah.
Joe: so yeah, I'm gonna go with Cleveland and that kind of rounds it out. And yeah, one of those two teams is gonna have a a one behind their record for the first time this year. So so
Paul: Yep, exactly. Exactly. Well good. Well I think those are some good games to follow here this weekend. now let's jump in to finish everything off here. Some of these top performances from last week and and crown some of our Talk of the Towns players from week five. if you want here I can yeah.
Joe: You wanna kick it up yeah, kick it off here a little bit. Looks like you got some of your your guys' guys at the top, so run th run through run through a few.
Paul: Yep, yep. I'll I'll start here with some of our guys here. We've got Akeet J. Williams, the wide receiver from John Marshall. Had an awesome game. Ten receptions for 190 yards and a touchdown. And that was in a really tough game, a tough loss to Owatana.
Joe: Yeah.
Paul: I that is impressive as heck. I mean Yeah, they
Joe: It's it's very impressive. To have that to have that many catches and a nineteen yard average is impressive. You know, it's one thing when these guys go three for
Paul: Yeah. Yep.
Joe: a hundred and break three big ones, but to have that many to have that many catches impressive.
Paul: Yeah. To do it consistently all night. I mean you were burning you were burning the Oatana secondary all night, which is insane to me.
Joe: Yeah. Yeah.
Paul: so that's a really that's a very impressive game by Mr. Williams there. So great game. Max Erickson, running back out of mail, who we got to experience here the week prior. He is one heck of a running back, really good really good player. 18 rushes for 130 yards and scores three touchdowns against century and they really kind of decimated century really for the most part took care of them a guy we kind of been talking about all year a little bit here is Carson Herman quarterback out of Waconia has a really nice another nice game fifteen of twenty three passing for three hundred and twenty seven yards and four touchdowns. pretty darn impressive you just don't see a lot of numbers like that. most weekends so impressive by him then we've got Isaac Kaler the running back out of Wilmer another one of those guys we were talking about some of those other dudes right for Wilmer here's just another dude he went nine rushes for 131 yards and two touchdowns so that's another impressive night there you know for Isaac so and then I'll let you take the next few here we'll go from there
Joe: So take I've got Austin Lucky, running back from Pine Island, 17 rushes for 187 yards and a touchdown. And I mean pushing over ten, eleven yards a carry. good night for him. and then we'll head over with Tate Olson. running back for Zimbroda nine for two two and he got noted in here 22.6 yard average and two touchdowns. So you know just really breaking it open. So and then a game I got to watch with Grant King quarterback for Caledonia had a great night threw the ball very well put played some really really nice passes on our wideouts 12 for 13 for 252 and two touchdowns and looked comfortable in there, you know. threw a couple back shoulder passes for touchdowns and just, you know, and and threw a couple into some tight windows. so nice game for Grant and that that Caledonia offense on the on the passing game. So, Then I'll hit a couple Byron guys here. Eli Rodmeyer, Byron QB, eleven for fifteen, two sixty and four touchdowns. And if that wasn't enough, he ran the ball three times for fifty two and another touchdown. So five touchdown night for Eli and just impressive. You know, I mean he seems to put up, you know, good numbers all the time. And then his favorite his favorite target, Bone Nicklay, Thank you. Three for three for one one and two TDs. So you know, I mean first or
Paul: Yeah.
Joe: third and thirty-three. Let's just throw it to Bo for 34, I guess, you know. so
Paul: Yep. Exactly.
Joe: so yeah, I mean he's you know, just just doing doing work there. So and then Jaden Patchell from the Crescent. these the Crescent guys keep finding ways on this list here every week.
Paul: They do. They do.
Joe: throwing up some numbers. he w he had ten receptions for 114 yards. So just a busy night for him just being productive. you know, 10, 10 yard, eleven yard average and and just, you know, probably getting first downs and and moving the sticks. So
Paul: Exactly. Yep.
Joe: I'll take one more here. Max Reed running back from Cannon Falls, just part of that stable. I mean you and I are talking off air, you know, just the stable of guys they have running the ball. So ten
Paul: Yeah.
Joe: ten carries for one two and four touchdowns. So a couple of those guys are probably, you know, wondering why they couldn't couldn't punch one end or two. So
Paul: Well, I think if I remember correctly, looking back here, he had four touchdowns, but I think four other guys had a touchdown in that game. They scored that many, you know, they really, you know, handed it to I can't
Joe: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Paul: remember, did they play Norwood Young America? I think that's who it was. Central. I think they played Norwood Young America. But yeah.
Joe: yeah, I don't I'll I'll I'll check on that. If you wanna take a couple.
Paul: Yep. another familiar name here is Cale Iken, running back on Mabel Mabel Canton. He had 36 rushes, so they really leaned on him last week for 235 yards and two touchdowns. So very, very busy night for for Kale. And I feel like he's used to those kinds of nights there. He Kale, he yep,
Joe: Yeah. absolutely. Yeah.
Paul: he's that's nothing for him. heading down the road here a little bit to Spring Grove and Dylan Helverson, the quarterback over there, goes five for ten passing. for for sixty eight yards and a couple touchdowns. Well then he rushes eighteen times for a hundred and eighty yards and two touchdowns for a ten yard average while running the ball. So really impressive. Plus he got himself interception on defense just to add to it. So they end up winning I want to say right around forty to twenty or forty to twenty one or something like that. So That's kind of one of those performances there where you go, Well if you don't have that, where are you sitting? kind of deal, right? So
Joe: Yeah, for sure.
Paul: impressive game. Kale Smith,
Joe: I think that was against Kingsland, you know, I think they played Kingsland. So, you know.
Paul: I think it was. Yeah, that sounds right. Yeah. Cale Smith out of Southland. Southland having another they're having a really good year. Kale had a just an awesome night. Twelve rushes for two hundred and forty three yards and two touchdowns. throws in a couple of receptions for thirty two yards and another touchdown, but then gets himself a couple interceptions on defense. So just a stat master on
Joe: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, just a ball hawk.
Paul: last Friday. Yeah. Yeah. So and he's had a really nice year. I mean boy,
Joe: Yeah he has.
Paul: I mean he he could have who knows, he probably could have been on this list, you know, multiple times. So yeah.
Joe: Yeah, I mean h him and Westie together, things are things are clicking.
Paul: It they really are. and then and then we've got Gage Johnson who's you know we we've known him very well running back out of Jackson County Central Runs for a hundred and forty four yards, and then seventy six yards receiving. Ends up with four touchdowns on the night, and then he f he recovers a fumble on defense, but he only played three quarters in that game. So, you know, I don't think Gage has played a full game yet. And, you know, he he might be one of the leaders in yards from scrimmage. He's getting he's close to one of those guys, you know.
Joe: Yeah. And and y and yards per average, right? I mean, we're talking about it I mean,
Paul: yeah.
Joe: not a ton of carries. He's not I think he's gonna go into the postseason pretty fresh. They're not he's not getting beat up. He's not pounding twenty five, thirty carries a night. J C C sitting a good place. I think their line has has rebuilt itself and you got a guy like Gage sitting back there, racking up the yards. So and and healthy and and and not overworked.
Paul: Exactly. And that's the thing. They they're they haven't had a a a real crazy schedule as of yet as far as what they're used to. So they kinda been able to kinda Yeah, keep him ready to go and keep him fresh. So he hasn't had to get overworked at all. So I'll let you kind of finish this out here, Joe.
Joe: Okay, so we finished that gauge. I'm gonna take Pierce Roman from Martin County West. he had 12 rushes for 141 yards and three touchdowns. So really nice night for him. Parker Keene multiple times on this list. quarterback from Springfield, 18 for 24, 514 yards and seven touchdowns. just insane numbers this kid just keeps footing up so shout out to him and you know for just you know continuing to do what he does gabe bergstrom running back from bold 24 rushes for 179 yards so great night for him And we go to we go to Parker's favorite target, Madden Lent, wide receiver from Springfield, six receptions for two fifteen and three touchdowns. so it just I mean, lighting it up those two together.
Paul: Yeah.
Joe: and Madden's had a great year. I mean, great season. Parker gets a lot of the attention, but Madden's the guy, you know, a lot of times on the receiving end of of what Parker's doing. So
Paul: Yep. Yep.
Joe: Great night for him. And then we go to one of our other kind of favorites, you know, Colton Bothan from Dawson Boyd with another impressive night. 24 rushes for 153 yards and two touchdowns. And then, you know, top it off with, you know, catch and three passes for 39 yards and another touchdown. So
Paul: Yeah.
Joe: You know, damn near 200 yards total offense for him and and three touchdowns. So just just another the kid's a beast. So I mean fun to
Paul: Yeah, he is. He is. Yeah.
Joe: watch and and just keeps rolling up the stats. So but after we
Paul: Yep. Yep. For sure. Well
Joe: calculated this all out, you know, who do you like this week?
Paul: what let's you take the first one?
Joe: Well, we're gonna I'm I'm gonna start with Kale Smith, right off
Paul: Yeah.
Joe: the top. You know, this this team just keeps performing. And like I said, him and Whisty, you know, them guys are clicking. and and he's been a really good player throughout. So, you know, the 12 for 243, two touchdowns, the receptions for another touchdowns, and then backing it up on defense with a couple of interceptions. So Cale Smith, you know, you're you're one of our talk of the towns.
Paul: Well, and you talk about consistency. I mean, I feel like this is just another game for him a little bit. I mean, this is this is one heck of a game. This was his best game of the year, I feel like, but he's a consistent performer, you know, on defense and offense, you know, so yep.
Joe: Yes he is. Yeah. Yeah. Tough kid, yeah.
Paul: Yep, yep. Very all right, I'm gonna take the next one then and I will head over I'm gonna I'm gonna go to the r the teammate of the guy we handed it out to a couple of weeks ago in Madden Lent. And Madden with six receptions for two hundred and fifteen yards and three touchdowns. Again, wide receiver out of Springfield. Amazing game. you know, I know they pounded it to bold, but you've got an offense there with Parker Keene that he's pretty good at spreading the ball around too. You know, so it's not like Madden's their only guy, but you know, you know Madden is he's definitely
Joe: yeah, yeah. I mean he th he he threw for five hundred. So three hundred of three
Paul: Yeah. Yeah, exactly.
Joe: hundred of went elsewhere. So
Paul: Exactly. You know, and so Madden's though another one of those guys. He's been pretty consistent, you know, all year long. And
Joe: Yes, he has. Yeah. Yeah.
Paul: you know, so anyways, it's we're gonna go with Madden on that one. I mean six for two fifteen, over thirty yards, reception. That's that's that's pretty tough to beat, you know, on multiple receptions, you know. So yeah. Great game by him, congratulations there. So What's that third one there, Joey?
Joe: Yeah. Well, hopefully them two throw those T shirts on and send us back a pick. So
Paul: We'll see. Yeah. Yeah. We love getting
Joe: we're we're gonna I'm gonna take this one close to home here, just down just down County Road 17, and give this one
Paul: Ha ha ha.
Joe: to one of my neighbors, Dylan Halverson from Spring Grove. And and he's a kid that's been on this list now a couple times, I feel like, and and the quarterback for Spring Grove and just you know just keeps tallying up these numbers. You know, 68 yards passing last week for two touchdowns, and then rushed for 180 yards and two touchdowns. So 240, 250 total, with the four TDs, and then also added a an INT on the backside playing defense. So just an all-around, you know, another another st you know, great week for him. So
Paul: Yeah.
Joe: it's it's guys that we have on our list that just keep doing this over and over and over and putting up these great weeks. so but Dylan Halverson, you're gonna also gonna make the talk of the town list this week.
Paul: Congratulations, man. Yeah, congratulations to really to to everybody on this entire list. you know, having performances like this are are not easy to do. And some of you guys make it easy. Seems like you make it easy to do and but then there we've got a lot of guys that have that we get new guys every week and so congratulations to everybody that you do everything you can do to help your team and and show out and and try to get a winner. Sometimes, yeah, you might come up a little short, but you know what? You're doing what you can and it's pretty awesome to recognize you guys and so congratulations to everybody out there.
Joe: Hey, we're over halfway. I mean three weeks left. Three weeks left in that regular season to to show what you got. I mean that's we're getting down there. So you know, it's
Paul: We are. We're getting down there.
Joe: time to start really trending in the right direction and putting putting your best best games out there to get ready for the postseason.
Paul: Yep, and it's it's all about getting that best position for playoffs here now and and and it gets tough for some teams and like we said, some teams kinda went through it already. But if you're in that gauntlet right now, good luck to ya, you know. bear down and and do whatever you can, you know. So, again, thanks to everyone for listening and to following us on social media.
