ABOUT THIS EPISODE

Brian Stemmle, Olympic Skier/Broadcaster

CBC Sports ski analyst Brian Stemmle talks about his experiences representing Canada at FOUR Winter Olympic Games, choosing to follow his dream of becoming Steve Podborski instead of Darryl Sittler, his FIRST race also being Steve Podborski’s LAST race as the Crazy Canucks era came to an end, why he didn’t want the doctors to cut him out of his racing suit after his horrible 1989 crash at Kitzbuhel, very nearly losing his $20,000 winner’s cheque in temporarily lost luggage, his celebrity encounters with Lynda Carter/Joe Sakic/Janet & Wayne Gretzky, why Aurora’s StemmEL Drive signage needed a re-do, and why his initial broadcasting goal was to NOT pull a ‘Cindy Brady’ when the red light came on!
