Tomorrow Comes Movies: Hello, filmworld. I am the Patrick, your host of Tomorrow Comes Movies, the podcast that spoiler talks movies. And each episode I'll be joined by a guest co-host from a roster of movie fans to varying degrees. Welcome back and thank you so much for tuning in. And of course, no matter what episode of Tomorrow Comes Movies you listen to, you can always join the conversation doing one to two different ways. Way number one, hashtag TLC movies. Wherever you're at on social media. And then way number two, once again, hashtag TLC movies. And of course, at us. Our handle across the board is the same at TOC Movies on TikTok, Instagram, Threads, Blue Sky, and Twitter. Did I get them all? I think I got them all. So what are the announcements? More movie series are coming, different ones, some that have already been released and some that are still being teased. I'm not gonna go through the whole thing, but definitely working on putting out more. Horror films, part of our horror movie series. And of course, we are tackling a lot more new movie releases that are coming out in theaters. So those are the two I'm prioritizing, but there are still a ton of episodes coming out. And that's all I got for the announcement. So this episode features a returning guest co-host. She hasn't been on since I believe May or June. It's been a very long time, but I had a blast talking with her on the last episode where she helped me cover One of the other biggest movies of the year, because this episode features a movie that probably is in most people's top five, maybe top ten films of the year. And I couldn't wait to tackle this movie and she was the perfect person to do it with. So please welcome back to the show, my dear friend Lua. How you doing, Lua? I'm doing good. Glad to be back. We really feel that enthusiasm, don't we, people? yeah, well well welcome back. And it's it's been a while. You know, we did the backrooms and I I think I've shared this with you, right? That I love our episode, but I was so terrified for the rest of the people to listen to our episode because people have found out how I am in terms of what the back rooms talked about. I think I kind of revealed a lot. And I remember talking to This particular listener who was like, This is your best episode, like Lou and you are really funny and like you were yourself a hundred percent and I said I I kinda wanted to cut it and they were like, Why? No, don't do that. And did you ever listen to it? Yeah, yeah, I did. Did you like it? Yeah. I hate hearing myself, but you know other than that, it's a good episode, I'd say. Yeah, I it is. Let me ask you, 'cause you've known the Patrick for a long time. Is that a hundred percent unfiltered? Yeah, for the most part, yeah, I would say. Okay, yeah. yeah, I'm proud of it. I just want to say that it's just it's just like I'll never forget this, but one person listened to it and they're like, Yeah, it was you know, they they said it was the first half was real good and then like the second half got kinda weird. And I didn't know how to respond 'cause I was just like, to be young and not have to feel shit shit worthless like I have to be that again I would I would kill to be like that. But no, in all seriousness though, I like the the backrooms episode. I just think it you know what the thing about it is I I feel that I'm just honest. So are you in that episode. I just feel like I'm not I mean you would know this better than them. Yeah, I w that there was that period was not yeah, that was a really you were like I experienced that for a long time. But yeah, that was me being like, I'm I'm down on my luck kind of thing. That's why the backrooms I think are related. The only thing I regret on the backrooms really is my rating of it. 'Cause I really rated it really low. Do you remember this? Like and I look back on going like I think that was probably the only time that I I did a podcast and I'm not satisfied with my rating. 'Cause I think I would rate it higher. I don't know why I was like that. But anyways, welcome back. And we'll come to we'll come back to the movie we're gonna review because I have a thing that I feel like you and I are are destined to do podcasts based off these kind of things. But before we do that, we got some things to talk about. Part of the warm up, because we did your introduction. If you haven't already, check out the backrooms episode. It's good. I promise you don't believe anything I just said in the first three minutes. It really is good. It just was it was hard to put yourself out there, I guess. But now I don't really care. And with the warm up we're gonna do something called the preferences. We'll start with because by the time this comes out it's gonna be the Halloween season. And even though this would qualify for my horror movie series, it's not gonna be part of it, but still gonna bring this up is what are some of your favorite horror movies? I think one of my favorite horror movies is probably Strangers. That one was pretty creepy. But I also really like I know a lot of people don't like these movies, but I really like the paranormal activity movies because those actually freak me out. You know. I I don't mess with demons and stuff. That's that's terrifying. People don't like the paranormal activity movies anymore? I get a lot of flack for it whenever I bring it up and they're like, that sucks. It's so dumb. I'm like, that is terrifying. You know, a demon coming at you trying to kill you and take over your and possess yourself? What? I don't know. Curious to see what the demon does to me if it takes over. Yeah, I'm just gonna leave it at that. no, I think the Paranormal Activity movies, yeah, I guess they have gotten to a period now where they're they're almost twenty years old. You know, 'cause I think the first one was really filmed in two thousand seven, but doesn't come out really until two thousand nine. And yeah, I think they they were they were a cultural phenomenon. I love I personally love I rode with them all and up up until that one they they rebooted on like par I don't I think it's through Paramount. Like it was like a streaming exclusive. It's like a whole new story and it was terrible. I I think I remember shapes or something. Yeah, it's it's like it's like they go to this this like Amish community. I don't know if you saw that. Yeah. Okay. Yes, I remember that. Did you like it? Yeah, I saw that. Yeah, it yeah. I think I did. I think I preferred like the earlier ones where it It's more like the things that you don't see that really scare you. Like with the growling and stuff, things moving. I don't know. Yeah. I mean no, I I I love Paranoia. I I also am a huge fan of the strangers. Those are we're both in sync on this. I think you had to be there for those, to be honest. Yeah. I think with the strangers it's it's just because of those new ones that came out. They're just absolutely not it. They're just not it. I I saw I saw two of the three in theaters and I started laughing by the third one 'cause I just was like, This is not The strangers that I that I saw. Okay. but paranormal activity I think is still a cultural phenomenon, like I was saying, but I think it's a really good The first one for sure is still king. It is so good. It's like if you didn't really live the Blair Witch project, this was your version of it, was paranormal activity. You know? And I I agree with you. I I don't believe in any of that, but I'm also terrified of the unknown. But also I believe in the motto, don't start none, won't be none. So for me, I would say those The Strangers is definitely one. Definitely the paranormal. I love I I even even the marked ones was so crazy to me. I love all. other horror movies that I like. Original Halloween. I'm a huge fan of found footage ones. So obviously like well not or like the pe the that kind of stuff is Wreck. Have you seen Wreck? I have not. But you've seen Quarantine, right? Yes. Okay, so Wreck is the original version of it. It's it's So I guess I guess quarantine basically just is an American remake of Wreck, which I believe are films from they're in Spanish, but I believe they're from Mexico. And it's a if you watch Wreck, it's just complete and you watch quarantine, there it's like shop for shot. But I prefer I I I saw quarantine first. But looking at Wreck, Wreck is way better. It's just it's just way better. but I see that that would be one I do love quarantine. And then is there anything else? Anything else? Well, I do like this movie called Oddity and Stop Motion. They're like these indie horror movies, and you would really dig both of them. They're just they're really fucked up. But yeah, that that concludes horror movies. I basically just went off the top of my head. I know you did too. And then this is this is really not a preference question, just kind of just gonna ask you just because it pertains to the movie series is are are you a fan of award season? Like do you watch the Golden Globes or the Oscars or any of that? Do you care? Not at all. No. I don't watch. So profound. We love those answers. I have to ask you, but yeah, I know the answer, but you know me. I am I am I'm all in on that. I I would do ballots, I I love award season. It's like my favorite time. It's my Super Bowl. Like when like when people are like, I can't wait for football, or I can't wait for the World Series or the NBA Finals or the Stanley Cup Finals or like whatever golf's equivalent is, you know, I'm and I'm over here like. Fuck all that, man. Like, it's the Oscars. Like, like, we should begin. Like, I I treat it like the Super Bowl. Like, I I have, I'm ready to go. And then I remember telling somebody this and they were like, what? Like they looked at me like I was like, they looked at me like I was a leper. The way that that they were like, really? And I'm just like, fuck you, man. Like, I like what I like. Like, you know, it's funny how people judge that, right? They'll judge that, but if I liked. sports or something that is normal, I guess. Like, you what I mean? Like if I was watching the Daytona 500, nobody would be like, really? You know what I mean? But I'm over here like I'm watching the SAG awards and like, what is that? Is that like a sh a award show for pants? Like what? Like you know what I mean? Like, but you're gonna help me kick off a brand new movie series. It's my most ambitious movie series because it requires people to actually show up and help me do this. And I've been struggling getting people to review newer movies. But this is part of a movie series called Talk movies presents. Now wrap up that speech already. Movie series that tackles the highs and lows of all the potential films in competition for this year's award season. Where will your favorite films end up at the end? Will they win big, get nominated and go home empty-handed at times? Or they got snubbed completely? And you are helping me review a movie that would be my version of like development hell in terms of getting somebody on this podcast to review this movie. I went through at least two other people before I originally wanted you, but I didn't know if you would do it because I know you don't you don't have the the ability to go to the movies as you used to because you're you're you're an adult now. You know, you have a kid and you're married, you got things to do. But I had pitched this to somebody Two different people. Well, I pitched it to one person, then I o did an open call, and then somebody agreed to come on, and then that never came out. Then the other person I pitched it to was like, Yeah, I'll come on. And then messaged me later, was like, Can we do a different movie? And so then I remember telling you, I was like, whenever it comes on digital, let's do it. And then finally, we're here now and we're gonna be reviewing Obsession, which is like probably the biggest, most talked about movie. prior to the Odyssey coming out, right? It w it's probably top three movies that everybody has seen and talks about. And so before we get into this movie review, let's give the movie facts. This came out May fifteenth, twenty twenty-six. This is written and directed by Curry Barker, the stars Indy Neveretti, Michael Johnston, Cooper Tomlson, and Meghan Lawless. And the synopsis of this film, according to IMDB, is this. After breaking the mysterious One wish willow to win his crush's heart, a hopeless romantic I don't know if I like that wording, finds himself getting exactly what he asked for, but soon discovers that some desires come at a dark, sinister price. And so if you have not seen Obsession, don't believe that's even possible at this point. But if you haven't, I would stop or if you need to rewatch it, stop this podcast now. Go watch it. Then come back or don't, and Lou and I are just gonna spoil it and bounce around with no fucks given. So Lua, are you ready to tackle obsession? I'm ready. Let's talk movies. So we're gonna start with the initial phase. And you did not see this in theaters, correct? I did not, no. Okay, but you saw the trailer for this coming out, right? Coming soon. Okay. So I wanna ask you, was this a film that you wanted to see? Yeah, I really wanted to see this. Especially since I watched the like the director and Cooper on TikTok all the time. I used to see their videos. And then so finding out that, you know, they were in a movie and he directed a movie. it made me interested in it for sure. Okay, so you're familiar with with c director Curry Barker and his collaborate actor Cooper Tomlison, I think I'm saying I don't think I'm saying that right. But so you saw did you see Milk and Cereal? No. you should watch that. I just saw that a couple weeks ago. It's on their YouTube channel. It's pretty good. It's a it's a really interesting one hour movie, I believe. It's and it yeah, it's it's it's very popular. But I I I didn't know who these guys were. So I'm glad that you know. And so you so you find these guys to be very talented and funny, correct? Yeah, I like their videos on TikTok and stuff. Awesome, awesome. Okay. So would you say that those two were on top like outside of those two, what what was there anything else about obsession that would you would say was a selling point for you? Was it the trailer or maybe like the trailer definitely was intriguing, you know, to see that many interested into watching it? You know? All right. Wow. I I I I I didn't expect any of this, so this is good. This is no, this is this is what we want. Okay. And then here we go. Obsession time. So if you can try to remember the first time you saw it as best as you can, including up to this rewatch, it's like kind of a two and one question, but from the first time you saw it as best as you can remember to the rewatch, what was your initial thoughts after obsession ended? I really thought that Bear was a pussy. But I feel like he should have just, you know, took his shot b without the wish, you know. you know. She even gave him an out saying like, You like me? before he even made the wish. And no, he went and took the wish and basically changed her life for his benefit. Wow. Wow, you were the perfect person to come on here 'cause you know I'm about to get real with about Barry. I've had enough of his nonsense. my my initial thoughts was this is fucked up. Like, this is the definition of foobar, right? Fucked up beyond all recognition. I I remember sitting in the theater, because I saw it twice. I saw it that Thursday, and I think I saw it that Saturday, the the that Saturday of that weekend. I remember when it ended, I was like, this like my jaw dropped because. I didn't know where they were gonna take this movie. And I think that the way they went with the ending was really insane. So I I I was like, this is an insane movie that also was very that really struck a nerve with me personally, which I think you you're gonna you I think you have an idea why. And I was just like like it w it was very frustrating, but it's a fantastic film. I think it's one of the best films of the year. I I will say that. What a what a What a way to break a lot of breakouts in this movie. You know, not just not just acting, like directing. Like it's it's incredible. All right. So we're gonna move over to another section. And I don't know if you're familiar where where I got the inspiration of this, but I'll just say this. But we're gonna start we're gonna move over to the great, the lame, and the abysmal, which is basically my version of the Sergi Leone film, The Good, the Bad, the Ugly, which stars the iconic Clint Eastwood. I just didn't want to get sued. So I just I came up with this. So we're gonna start with the great. Not too much different from the last time when you did backwards, but the great like what were the best parts of obsession, in your opinion, that you really enjoyed, like anything that stood out? I always thought the best parts were probably when just how creepy she was. You know? She like really portrayed being creepy, like super well, where it made me actually uncomfortable, like just standing in the corner staring at her him while he's, you know, sleeping, or like moving slowly and weird. I don't know. I thought that was really cool. It really had an effect on me. Wow. Okay. Anything else or is that that was the the the main one that stood out? That's all I can think of right now. Hey, you know, that's why you're on the podcast. We love that honesty where you're like, I don't have anything else. and then watch me do it all. Like, okay, so obviously the great would be for me, obviously acting. Indy Neveretti gave w probably the breakout performance. I mean, talk about star making performance. She's extremely talented. As an actor, I I'm what I'm seeing is bold choices being made. And you highlighted th those choices for her, t how she portrayed creepy aspects of Nikki through the obsession phase, but also like her, you know, it's just her mannerisms, her facial expressions, the way she delivers lines, even beforehand and even after it. It's just she really I mean, she really aced the assignment. Like she was incredible. the other actors are great too. the one that you were talking about, that is his collaborator, but Cooper Tomlison. He's great as Ian. Megan Lawless is great as Sarah. And then also Michael Johnson is great as Bear. I mean, he plays such a great character that you don't I mean, I can't imagine anybody likes him. I fucking hated him. Yeah. Curry Barker is another great great highlight for me. He he's just a really great director, you know, like I think this is his first feature, like his first actual big movie, like Hollywood movie, and he he really does a great job. in terms of how he wrote the story were and then his direction with the cinema and then you know his direction that went in collaboration with the cinematography. But another highlight for me is the score that really enhances the the horror aspects. But this is something I really, really loved was the lighting. yes. Yeah. Like like the lighting and then like how they also use the lighting to make like Nikki dark. Like when she's in the shadow. Like it's incredible And this is why like I always tell people like how if you don't really love movies like some of us that really are passionate about it, if you can notice those things, like I s as soon as I brought up I your you're like, yeah, that's when you know that storytelling can really go places where it doesn't have to be dialogue. Like that really says a lot. And so I I really liked that I also love that that Curry Barker didn't do any cop outs in this when terms of where the story could go. Like he was like, All we're This is fucked up. We're gonna keep going this route. And then the my last great is the themes and messages and about like you take out the horror aspects and the comedy aspects, and you really think about this movie in terms of like human element, dealing with shooting your shot, the psychological aspects of like you you're afraid to do things. Like there's a lot of like things that we can all relate to about what we should. And should not do. And I think that is brilliant because that gets a conversation going about real aspects of this movie. 'Cause it obviously it's not a real, you know, like it's it gets crazy, but like there are there are real human elements to this that are horrible and that need to be explored and people really need to start handling business because it's crazy. So we're gonna move over. Is there anything else or are you good? no, I'm good. I mean, I really like the way she could snap in and out. different emotions, that was crazy to see too. But yeah, that's it. No, it's all it's all good. It's all good. That you know, like I said, you know. All right, we're gonna move over to the lame. And this is like things that you didn't hate, but you're like, you know, maybe it was a little disappointing, you didn't think it was the greatest. Is there anything about obsession that you considered the lame? I honestly can't find anything that I really didn't care for or anything like that. I I enjoyed the movie. From start to finish. I think everything just added to the story and worked well together to me. I love that people can come on my podcast to say that and not me be like, Are you fucking kidding me? Like like, you know, 'cause there's people that really want to find things. the only th there are some lanes for me. It's really what it comes down to and and it's I don't hate it. It's just it's just so funny to look at it. Is what I noticed was and I noticed it in the first time I saw and then the second time I saw it in theaters was I just cannot believe that these four friends work at this music store. Like it can't be that poppin'. Okay. Like Okay. Yeah. Okay. But here's the here's the thing though. It's a it's a minor detail because I can let it go because it fits the story. But it's not believable because I'm like, are you familiar with Sam Ash, the music store? Yeah. Okay. Well yeah it's yeah it was a big it was big in the two thousands and like there's still one around. And I would go in there and even I I even when I would go in there there weren't that many employees And it was a bigger store than that. And I was just like, you know, like something like that. And then let me see. I do have some other things in my notes that like I wonder if this is this is the only time I ever pull out the notes. Because I like I said this could be an audio only podcast, so who knows? I also let me see here. Is there anything else? No. Actually, you know what? There is no yeah, you know what the other thing is? There's certain parts of the story that I wish they would have addressed, but it can't because it they can't really deal with it. Like like like Bear not really processing the fact that that reveal about Ian and Nikki hooking up on and off for two years because he can't really deal with it because there's more crazy shit. But I wish that that would have got maybe addressed because that is just fucked up as a friend. Friend to friend, not cool. But see, minor detail that you can let go because it doesn't fit the story. Like if they do that, w it might take you out of what happens toward the end 'cause you know I mean, 'cause it's gonna come up around the end. So those are like things about I don't know if that that those are things that you thought of, but yeah, I I just wished that was maybe more addressed because it was a big focal point for a lot of the movie. And it I don't know if you like you start noticing things with with Ian's character when things are going down and I'm just like, this guy's a piece of shit, man. So is Bear. Actually all the guys are a piece of shit, to be honest. You know, even y even that music even Sarah's dad who's Andy Richter's character who's running that music store like you're an asshole for having that many employees because you there's not that there's no there's that there's no way that you're you're in business like that. I didn't 'cause when I there's like one scene where Nikki and and and Bear enter after like she's been at his house and then he walks and then Ian meets up with him if and I don't know if you notice I don't know if you know this, but when he they walk there's that guy by the drum set. That's Curry Barker's dad. no I didn't know. Yeah, the only reason I know this is because of film Twitter and I was like, that's so and so, but yeah, it's not popping. I don't I don't see any customers in that store. So Yeah. And then we'll move over to the abysmal, which is I don't really think we're gonna have anything, but the abysmal's like there's parts of it that you're like, I absolutely hated. Anything with that for obsession? No. I really can't think of anything that I hated. Same personally. Same, yeah. And that's okay. 'Cause we that that means we enjoyed this fucking movie. Like, trust me, if there w if there was something wrong, I know you would hide highlight it. I I'm sure you're shocked I even found something that bothered me in the lane. It's funny 'cause when you brought it up, that whole how many employees they need, like yes, I actually thought the same thing. I was like, they're like, I'm gonna have we're gonna have a busy day tomorrow. I'm like thinking, How? How are you having a busy day? Are you having a clearance bail or something? Like There's five employees for a tiny five by five store. Get out of you. Yeah, and not in this day with gas being six dollars, there's no way people are like, I can go get a drum set after this. Absolutely not. But see you can let it go because when a movie is so good, those things can still be in your mind, but they don't they don't deteriorate your enjoyment of the film. But th I just wanna point out 'cause I was like it was l it always made me laugh. Okay, let's go over to let's start with the need to know's. So we're gonna go we're gonna get to the technical parts first. Is what did you think of the writing? Like, you know, obviously the writing with the story, like, you know, what did think of that? I thought it was good. I mean, I yeah, I don't really have a lot of complaints. I don't have a lot of experience also with writing and stuff. To my knowledge, I and my, you know, what I saw and stuff, I thought it was good. Love that honesty. Yeah, I mean, you know, I don't expect to get like super into it, but You'd clearly you clearly like the movie. I I the writing's good because the story, like I said, Curry Barker doesn't really outside what I mentioned with with with Ian and Barrett, for the most part, well, for majority of the part, he really does commit to the story. Like he's like, Okay, we're gonna tell this story about this guy who can't seemingly be vulnerable and just tell this girl how he feels. So he's gonna do he's gonna go get a one wish willow that he doesn't know if it's real and then It's gonna snap, he's gonna make a wish that he wants her to love her more than anything in the world, and then it goes haywire. And no point in that movie does he cop out. And you can. You you've seen movies like that where the the they'll cop out and then you're just like, Really? This movie he commits to it. That and that's why the ending is so powerful and also fucking outrageous. so I think the writing's good. Now cinematography, I wanna know what you think of that. And that's basically just what you know, like the visuals, you know, like how they film certain things, you know. And you know, and also it'll be like a two in one is the cinematography and the score. Did you what did you think of those two? I thought they were great. I mean you brought up the whole lighting thing, we thought like that was awesome. The way they did the lighting. really brought more emotion and stuff to the video. I also thought like it was cool when Bear and Sarah were in the car and you know, the video is obviously pointed at Sarah and all of sudden Nikki comes out running and just breaks into the you know, window. I thought that was cool too. Unexpected the first time I saw it. Of course. Look at you. You're a film expert right there. Th honing in on that. The way that they filmed it. Yeah. the lighting goes really in hand with the cinematography because if you think about it, there's a lot of great shots with Nikki in in this darkness vibe that kind of makes you wonder like who is that? It's not Nikki. And it's it really gets your mind going. cinematographers, I love their there's these really cool shots of them panning left to right. The first one that I really love is when He when Bear takes a call from Ian, who's called twice when they're at when she they're at that restaurant and it just pans from my left to right. So like we don't see what what's going on with Nikki as she's sitting there and then like it kind of moves back and we see her standing and it's just so creepy. And then they do it again when it's at Ian's party when I guess I've never seen this before, this Jenga thing where like they pick up they it's like a Jenga set, but it has like things that you're supposed to do. I I've never seen that. I think that's pretty cool. It's like it and then I think Bear picks up one that's like Kiss the person on your left and it moves over and you're just like, God. It it's and there's a lot of zooming in shots. Like, like we're we're narrowing on these on these kind of like these characters to see what's going on. And happens a lot in this movie. And I think those zoom shots really set the tone, especially like a lot of times in Bears' perspective, because you're just sitting there looking at him and it's just like You're not Yes, yes. the the score, the score works. It's not it's not as powerful. It doesn't overtake things. It does show up when it needs to be. And I think that's what works for me. So let's move over to the horror aspects, because you did highlight that scene in the in the van with Sarah and Michael. What did you think of the horror aspects of this movie? And did any of the jump scares get you? Is there any of that your were your favorite jump scares? Definitely the biggest jump scare for me was the car scene. 'Cause it was so unexpected, you know, it's just Sarah and Bear having a conversation. And all of a sudden you just see Nikki, you know, coming in and killing the killing her. but yeah, there is a lot of scary aspects to it, just her Nikki's creepy vibe, her weird facial expressions changing where it's almost demonic. It's creepy, you know? Yeah. Yeah, the the van got me both times in the theater and I fucked I tried not to 'cause like I I'm not scared of it, but I think you know this fr is I I because we've played games, is that you've heard me jump at some things and it's not scary. I just don't like surprises. Like but that that one was so well done. Like the horror aspects of this movie are actually I mean, I'm no horror expert. I think you're better I gotta say, make sure I'm saying horror because somebody said I once sounded like I was saying horror, but horror aspects, I'm not an expert. I think you are a little bit more than me. For mo for me, I think it's pretty good. There's a couple I'm trying to remember what other ones got me. I think the one that really got me was the one I it's a jumpscare was her screaming like, Don't leave. That one got me badly. Yeah, that one got me badly too, because that was ugh I didn't like that. And then I think those were the only maybe the only two that really got me. But the horror aspects of like her creepy mannerisms and her character doing sporadic things that don't make sense. Like her when she's in the corner. That one got me too when she was screaming like, Why don't you love me? Like I was and then her movie with the what that got me was the was the her holding the plant too, 'cause that fucking freaked me out. 'Cause I was like, Whoa, what's going on here? Like like, whoa, like really big into earth day, huh? Like really big into earth day. Like, we need to get back on the ground floor of this this relationship. Like, please. Like, please put your plants away. Like I like the horror aspects. Now, this movie does benefit because Curry Barker and and Cooper Tomlison, I think I I can't I'm probably butchering that, but they they do come from a comedy background. And there's a lot of comedy aspects in this. There's a lot of really good humor in this. What did you think of the comedy aspects and and did you like the humor? Is there any standouts of the humor? Yeah, I like the humor. I like that it didn't like overpate the you know, I wasn't trying to be too funny. There's just humor throughout the movie, at the right time. times. So yeah. Yeah. I I love how like there's these really serious parts and then they'll just throw in a little bit of humor. And they did it with Nikki at one point too, where she's like getting crazy and she's like, okay. And she just goes away. You're just like, wait, what? And then when he went to buy the necklace and then he went back later on to get more one more get two more one sh willows. Th those scenes were really good with the humor. And then there was another one I think with Ian's character in the beginning was ri f was pretty funny. And then there's some other things. But yeah, the humor the humor does work. I don't think yeah, it definitely doesn't feel like too much. It definitely works and and learning I learned this. I didn't think about this, but I I learned this. So shout out to Patrick Vicious who just did Resident Evil with me. Is him bringing up there's a the reason why I always wonder why comedians are doing horror and he broke it down to me and it's really not that like it should have been obvious to me, but I as somebody I guess who people think is funny is is timing. That's why with with comedy and horror, it comes down to timing. And he was saying that's why Jordan Peel and Zack Krager and now Curry Barker are these comedian backgrounds, the com comedic backgrounds are succeeding in horror because they understand how to do timing. I don't know if you've ever thought of that, but Yeah No, but that makes sense. Yeah. And I wish I w I wish I could claim it as mine, but see I couldn't because you would you could just listen to Resident Evil and he would say it. You know, yeah, I'd be a fraud. No, I'm just kidding. But no, it's really good how he brought that up because now I think about it, yeah, the timing of this of the horror and the comedy aspects really work well. I didn't laugh as much this time around, but the first two times it it was pretty funny. It was like when she's like when that girl's on the phone, she's like, What the f like something she's like, That's fucking crazy. He's Wait, what? He's like she's like, I'm not talking to you. Anyway, here's the necklaces. Like, or the other guys are, hey man, I don't I don't I don't need that energy in here. Like like tone it down. Like, you know, like it's it's so ridiculous. and then of course we're gonna move over to let's let's talk about let's talk about here. I'm gonna ask you s this is part of the need to know's, okay? Well, this was all part of the need to knows, but I didn't announce it, but let's get into the actual need to know's. And the first question I need to ask you this is real serious, real thought provoking question here. Is would you look at me weird if I ordered a pina colada at the bar? Yeah. What like what what is your what it like when you saw a bear order that when Nicky's like, you want that? And he goes, I want a pina colada and and he's kinda like, I what is like he l she kinda looks at him and he's like, Is you know, is it too feminine? Like that that they they start talking about like is it too feminine Is it too feminine for a guy to order a pina colada? 'Cause it was a big eighties song. You're at the beach, like at a resort? Then I can kind of, you know, I'll let that slide. But if you're just at a bar and you order a pino colada, I mean, I said he was a pussy in the beginning, I'm gonna say it again. When he orders a pino colada. Well, I'm about to look like even one worse when you're like the guys like you're like, Hey, you want anything at the bar? And I'm like, Yeah, can I get can I get a a Coke Zero and rum? But I have a legit excuse. Like I can't drink sugar, but you know, but like even me, I would I don't know, I've never had a pina colada, but was thinking like have Lou and I ever been to a bar? When are we when are you and I going to a beach? No, like but like how can I like if I want a pina colada, I have to invite you to the beach. So I have to be like, Hey, would you mind driving like six hours to California so I can get a pina colada? You can definitely order a pina colada, but I will make fun of you. That's that's it. Okay. Well, th that was a real serious question. We need to know what you thought. I don't know. I mean, when I look at you weird if you ordered a peanut clot, I'd just be like, wow, is it eighties night at trivia night? Like the way I'd be like, really? Like d do you want a like a hottie toddy or whatever next? You know what I mean? okay, like you know, here's one thing I need to know is is this is the million dollar question because everybody has a different interpretation of this. And to give a little background before I ask the question is Curry Barker and had had Indy Neveretti who plays Nikki, he gave her some direction of like some takes I want you to make it seem like you like Bear and some takes we don't really think you like Bear and he kind of combined them in into this f final film. So he had her do different takes for certain scenes. And I wanted to ask you the million dollar question because everyone has a different opinion. Do you think that Nikki liked Bear prior to the one wish willow situation? No. No. No, I don't. Okay. Why? She wasn't giving off the vibes of that she likes him. But she also did say if she has a crush, people wouldn't know, so I could be wrong. Y y this is why. This is why you came on the podcast. We can't have two guys do a podcast on obsession 'cause they would be like she's totally into a bro last Now, I I think you know this, but I've always been the the the guy that would give advice and I do had a lot of women friends, so I had the ability to learn from you ladies, including you, how to kind of expand my mind where I don't sound like a a dumbass. Cause you know, you've been there when when guys would say things to us at work and I'd be like, Why? Why did you think that that needed to be said? Why do don't do that, please? And I would ask you, I would be like, What what are you thinking? You would tell these guys, no, don't do this. They most likely did it, right? I'm pretty sure they did it, yeah. Or they may have listened and been like, Wait, but why why should I say it like that? And you're like, Because they'll talk to you if you do if you do it your way, they're never gonna speak to you again or go out with you. I believe that she did like him. And the reason why I think this is is something you bring up was in the car scene. She does want to tell him prior that he didn't want to go to Trivia Knight, and we'll come back to why because of something that happens. But she says she needs to share something with him on the phone before he agrees a trivia night and that she's leaving the job because she needs a a change in her life. Because she, you know, she just she's kind of feeling stuck. And in the car it gets doubled down that she wants to be a writer. She wants to write a love story, not a romance, a love story. She wants to feel love because she I guess she's not getting it. And she says in this conversation. And I'm reading this. You know I'm a reader. I love to read people. As she says, You're the only person I can talk to about this. But I did disc I did notice something this time around that makes me do think that I do think she likes him, but it's possible that she doesn't. Because then she follows up with, you know, especially at work, because it doesn't I you know, because you it doesn't feel like you're a brick wall, which would indicate that she's talking about Ian. See? Yeah, so that's interesting. So I do think because then when we get later on, you know, like she doesn't want the gift thing. Been there, done that on both sides of that argument. I've been with Ian where you don't do the gift, and I've done the thing where you get the gift, and I think you know something about this as well. We're not gonna discuss that. But it doesn't work out because she's kinda like, and I was like, okay, maybe not. And then we get to her house and he I don't even know what was going on in that when he's I need to tell you something. He just says something so stupid. And I'm just like, bro, no. No. No. Literally. But then he yeah, he he takes a bold, he does the one time in this movie, he makes a real bold decision without anything attached to it. Like him only. And he got he decides to do something that he was instructed to do by Ian. He calls her freaky Nikki. Yeah. Okay. Not I would advise him not to. I'll come back to that later, but I would advise him not to have done it. But that does spark some kind of conflict with her because she looks over at him like not happy. She's clearly not happy. And then we get the real meat of this situation, which her saying, Bear, do you like me? Now, before we get into that, let's go back a little bit further. Is in the car before she got out, she says to him that Sarah was asking about him all day. This is how much I thought about this. Okay, look at look at this is analyz this is really analyzing this is like she says, like, well, Sarah's talking about you all day because it was his day off and and he goes like, Yes, sh yeah, she's so is she's so obvious. Like he's so awkward about it. She's I know or he mentions something like really and she's like they b basically Nikki's Yeah, she's so obvious. And she's like, But like, how do you feel about that? Let me tell you, been there, done that myself, and have seen that in action. I believe that that was a test. I believe it was a test. Yeah, okay. Perfect. If that was a test, and that was just that was the test, I would say that he handled it. He did he aced that test. Okay, there's two. And he goes, Well, I, you know, I just see us as friends. Smart man. Smart man. Whether that I don't know if I fully believe that, but I I think that he does like Sarah, but I think. He li he's clearly infatuated with Vicky. So let's go back to her now saying, like, do you like me? This is the moment of truth. Okay. I'm looking at him, Lua, with daggers in my eyes. I'm like, okay, brother, this is your moment. Like I'm right next to him. Like, I don't know why, but I'm on the other side, leaning too, and I'm like whispering in his ear, like, This is your moment. Do it. Whatever happens, happens, bro. I know Lua's gonna be like, he's full of shit because I've I've been I've seen him in action. He won't do this either. Exactly. But that's a different version of me. Now I'm like, fuck it, you just gotta say it. But I'm like, bro, but I would always tell people, would I not tell people you gotta shoot your shot? You've always been like that too. You've always, I've always admired you for being like, just get straight to the point. And he fails. Miserably. Miserably fails. And then she looks distraught in that response. She kind of feels embarrassed, I think, a little bit too. And then you said something earlier where she said like if I had a crush on somebody some nobody wouldn't even know. Which these are details. And then she abruptly got out of the car after she says that, I believe. So to me, if you look at that in hindsight, very mixed signals. Very mixed signals. Very, very mixed signals from her for sure. But I do think Yeah, go ahead. That's why I'm saying like I don't believe she had one, but I could be wrong because she's all over the place. Before the wish. Like she's cold and then hot and then cold and col so it it's hard to read, but Bear should have definitely stepped up and just told her how it is, so Yeah. So I think that she liked him. So let me ask you, between the both of us in terms of reading people and the situations, who do you who do you trust more, yourself or me on on this? You can be honest. Myself. Yeah. That that's per That's a perfectly valid re Yeah, I I I I wouldn't I w I expected you to to be honest. Because she didn't seem like before the wish, she didn't seem like the type of person that would shy away from her feelings. She seems kind of if, you know, she liked somebody, she would have told him or made it clear. And also, why would she been messing out around with his best friend if she liked him? You know, that doesn't make sense either. So that's why another reason why I don't really think she had feelings for him, she'd probably just like keeping him around. Okay, here. We're about to see an over over analyzer here. Okay, yes, that's a very good point. Like, why would she mess around with this friend? But she but what if she just developed feelings? Because she does say later on, as obsessed, Nikki, so we have to wonder, you know, she does say around Christmas. So it is whether it's true or not, it could be recent development because this goes back to something later with Sarah in a conversation where she said she had friend zoned him. See, look at this. She said she friend zoned him, but Sarah that that's what Ian tells Bear, like, hey, I didn't want to hurt you, but this is what she told Sarah. He makes it sound like it's the conversation where Sarah was asking about Bear. But if you go back later on when they're having it's just Sarah and and Bear look, I'm telling you, I really thought about this. When Sarah and Bear are are at work by themselves, shockingly there's two employees instead. she says he brings it up and she says it was once said in passing. So how long ago was that said? And the reason why is that Ian and and Nikki had an on and off thing for two years. She's clearly feeling stuck right now. She wants out. She wants a change. When she says, Do you like me? She also I I held this back. She also says the caveat. Now is the time. She said earlier that they were out of time. Ian says that all you have is time. Look at this. This is me br dude. I literally have this all so I believe that my If I was a lawyer, this is how I present it. She liked him. I don't think she liked him initially. I think she friend zoned him. Then she got to experience w life with Ian by messing around with somebody who doesn't even value you, who just keeps you at surface level, doesn't really want to have the deep conversations with you, doesn't want to invest in you. So then she gravitated toward the friend zone version of Bear, but I think to develop feelings because he gave her what she was looking for. My only argument on myself is I don't know what she sees in Bear because I don't find him interesting at all. Literally. But he does give a shit about her. In the beginning. I just want to say that because clearly I'm concerned about his behavior. Isn't it so that's what I think. So I at with all those facts, I believe it she did like him recently, but I believe she friend zoned him for about seven years. And I think the way I'm looking at this is maybe six months. That she liked him. So I'm thinking that this is probably in June when this takes place. And so she liked him since Christmas. see what I'm saying? Th there's a lot of over it. You see how much I thought about this? I can kind of see that. But then I can also I think that she just really liked the attention. This is me again thinking, yeah. No, I think she liked the attention and if she were to ever have given him a shot. It'd probably last like maybe three months and then she'd get bored of him. Cause I don't imagine being able to be with her. I mean him. I think she just really liked the attention. See this is why I wanted you on the podcast because I've because as somebody who gives advice, I go to you when I need things 'cause I need you're my friend, I need you to bounce off things. And this is what I wanted was you saying what you think. Attention. That's a very good point. too. She could have yeah, he is giving her the attention that she wants. And I think also the reason why they won't last three months is because Bear by the time we actually get to see Bear open up, it's under the wrong circumstances where I'm like, maybe Yeah, and we'll come to that later. So okay, here we go. Let's get into the one wish will so he fails And he was supposed to give her that. I don't know if he was I think he was gonna try to give her that, which would have been a really weird gift anyway. That would have been super weird. Yes, because like like how old are we that we're like here, make a wish, you know, and so yeah, I I don't know. Yeah, so then he decides to make the I always I used to call it the w the one willow wish, but it's the one wish willow. And so basically he he breaks it. It opens it, makes music, he breaks it and he wishes for her to love him more than anything in the world. And it is like it is like a Thanos Snapch tonal shift where like we see her in that dark light the way the lighting is, is perfect except like you c she's in the dark and it's like you don't s you can see her shadow, her body, but you don't really see her clear. And it is very, very strange. Let me ask you, when you first saw that, before we get into them interacting, what did you think? I was shocked, I don't know, that that it would actually work out like I obviously the trailer kinda, you know, leads to that, but just the fact that something like that actually worked and then why would you wish on someone to have feelings on you for you and it feel like it wouldn't feel genuine to me. I I would rather have someone want me 'cause they want me, not because I made a wish. I don't know. Yeah. Yeah, I was startled. As soon as I saw the tonal shift, I was like, no. Like yes. Like I was like, Do you have any idea of the ramifications of what you've just done? Like you and yeah, I I yeah, and before we talk about the interaction, I will say this. I agree with you because I I needed it's funny, the the others who would have came onto this podcast, I don't know how well this would have gone with me being like really open and vulnerable, sharing my own experiences. You know, 'cause like they wouldn't know. You didn't really know me at this particular part. You would come about three years later, but I'll share this. So there was somebody in my life that I've adored more than anybody. And we had a s not a similar relationship to Nikki and Barry. It was a lot more organic. There was a lot more openness and it was something that built from like we were friends to like it it really changed over time. I didn't shoot my shot correctly. Okay. So I'm not as I at least did better than Bear. I'll say this. I sure hope so. I at least did better than Bear, but my mistake was not being not standing not fully shooting the shot and then standing my ground when when the response that came back that would end up altering my life completely because then I would end up with somebody else, which I think you know. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I I think I I like how she's like, we know, but we really they don't know. You know. and it in in in in all seriousness, it it and you know this 'cause I've told you this. It's it's it's haunted me. Because this is the only and I and I say this and and it's crazy for people to when I tell this, but still that person, she's the only person that I've ever fully connected with that I could be 100% vulnerable like what Nikki was talking about. I couldn't do that with even you or or Ray Ray. Like I remember telling Ray Ray that and he'd be like, The what the fuck are you two talking about that you can't I know. That's what I'm wondering. Like what Yeah, like she was the yeah, this person was the only one she could she could call me out on my shit. She could motivate me in ways. It was cra and I used to talk to her all the time when I was homeless l living with somebody else and they'd be like, Bro, he would like my friend Big Saj would tell Ray and this other guy like I don't know what the fuck is going on, but they those two can talk all night, dude, and like have deep conversations and then like talk shit to each other. It was crazy. But I didn't shoot my shot fully and it and it it was a regret. So when you talk about what you said, and being honest, is like I wanted her. This one wish willow nonsense, like me doing that, I I don't agree with Bear either because I'm like, dude, that's not what's gonna happen is not the person that you want. You can't force it. You can't force it. Either they like you or they don't, or they do like you and and they they're too afraid to make the move themselves. And so like with that situation, with my situation, I I wouldn't want if that was who I got, if I got the freaky version of who I was I'm talking about, I'm gonna be honest, I don't want it. Because that's not the person I connected with. Like it it it it just doesn't it's it doesn't feel the same. And you wouldn't even connect with that person more. You like then it leads you to go, okay, so do you really like that person or do you like the the physical aspect of that person or the infatuation aspect of that person? So Nikki then comes over and starts acting bizarre, clearly basically looking like Bear, except more obvious, to be honest. Where like you can clearly tell that like she wants to go to his she wants to be hang out with him. To the point where she even lies, says her cat died, and then he has to correct her. He's act he he doesn't know how to handle this attention. And then she kind of leans down again, like when she was like, Do you like me? And except this time she leans and then she's like, I don't, you know, wait, what am I saying? And then she kind of snaps out of it. She's like, What fuck? And then yes, and then snaps right back into this weird freaky n I call her the obsessed Nikki version, and does weird things like like tries to dance around his car and eventually he has to take her to the house. And yeah, he puts her in the room, he's gonna go sleep outside, but then she asks to sleep, but you sleep with me. I don't Yeah, and then it gets really weird, you know, like 'cause she she basically used by the way, I I should bring this up 'cause it's a big plot point. Is she said her dad had cancer. Yeah. That that that's what made her want to not be alone. And then she also she tried to get him to go to her house. May might have been the better off. way to go about it to be honest. I wouldn't want to bring her back to my house. To be honest. she never left. Yeah. What did you yeah, what did you think of that whole like when she walked over and then they started interacting after he made the wish? Like how strange was that? Or what what was your reaction to all that? Yeah, that that was a flip of a switch. Like it went from one spectrum to a the opposite. It it was wild seeing her just all of a sudden be so into him and wanting to be with him because she was from the beginning before she was you know the wish she wanted to go home, she wanted to go to sleep, and now all of a sudden like, No, I I wanna be with you. I I need it, you know, I wanna go. Can we go home please? Or something. I don't know. But yeah, it was weird. Crazy to see. Actually this brings up a point about my when I was talking about if she liked him or not. Here's another interesting thing I that co goes in that is This is a what the fuck moment too. What is up with all them like they so Nikki's gonna go buy drinks at the bar, right? I'll come back to this. This what we're talking about. Her and Bear go to the bar and then Ian cock blocks Bear. All right, okay. And then Sarah shows up and I go, So, this would have been part of the lame too. Why that was the other one. Why the fuck are you guys all at this bar? Who's watching the table at Trivia Night? You know somebody's gonna claim that shit. I totally thought of that too when I saw it. I was like I'm pretty sure I saw some nachos over there. Someone's gonna be eating those and why. And but yeah, Ian Cockblocking that's gonna come back later on what I wanna wanna talk about. But yeah, basically at that point, Sarah and he wants to be so so Bear wanted to be vulnerable with Nikki and share that that his cat I think I forgot what his cat's name was, but it died. Sandy. And then she ends up leaving with with Ian, I don't know if you notice it, but she grabs his hat playfully and they they they they leave the scene. Yeah. And then he's he's with Sarah, and then he's able to be he's able to talk to her easy mo way more easily than he is with Nikki. He doesn't overthink things. I know this I'm an overthinker. And he just kinda like they have this moment of vulnerability where she feels so bad for him. They think they hug maybe or she hugs him. I don't know. Yeah. And anyways, the reason why this is gonna come back in my Nikki thing, this is another plot where this could con it contradict and not contradict my belief that she liked him was when they leave the bar, he's like Are we going to Gritos for karaoke? It's a karaoke blaze. And she's like, No, I don't want to do it. And he's kind of like, they're kind of basically having a a disagreement playfully, where he's like, Come on, like, who's gonna be there when I sing this fucked up song? And she's clearly tired. And and the way I interpret was she was just tired of him. Like she's been there, done that with him on and off for two years. And then actually he you know what? I I should give Bear credit. He does another bold actually, he does two bold things before he he's an idiot. He's like, I'll take you home. Makes that move, right? And she's like, Thanks, Bear. And then, you know, she gives the homeless that money that Sarah gave her. But then he's Ian does this passive aggressive comment that you would now you you understand more later on. Is he's like, All right man, get your girl home safe. And she's like, ill. Nikki's like, ill, don't say it like that. Interesting dynamic. Because you can look at that two ways. Her being like, ill to bear, but I think it's more or less her saying, like, don't She didn't like him saying that to he she didn't like Ian saying that, if that makes sense. And so yeah, so that was really strange. I don't know if you noticed that. That that is dude how d imagine me being in that group, just watching you and I just stand there watching talking shit about that. Like, dude, they there's totally some fucked up shit going on between those four. But we go like going going back to what I was talking about after Nikki changes and she goes to the house. I want to ask you this question was Nikki comes over to his house and she says the house smells like you, which Bear responds back. Is that a good or bad smell? And she just says, It just smells like you. Let me ask you, you we're you know, like someone says that actually you know what we're gonna you know what that's gonna be a role playing scenario. You are bear in that situation. How do you handle and she says the house smells like you? What is your reaction to that? And do you think that's a good or bad thing, despite the fact that she says it just smells like you? But do you take that as a good or bad reaction? I would be weirded out for sure. And then I'd be like, What, does it smell like ass or something? I don't know. Not that I smell gas. But it's just I don't think I wouldn't think that I have a distinct smell. So that's why I would be like, What? Okay. Yeah, that's weird. I wouldn't like that compliment or comment. Whatever that was supposed to be. Yeah, I gotta be honest. I I'm bear and she says that, I I'm like Like like I'm like, do I smell like shit? Like even though she says i even though she's like it smells like you, I'm like, okay, okay, I understand that, but I need you I need you to clarify, is that a good good or bad? Because like I was I'll be honest, this is a true story. I was at I was at the gym today and I'm and I'm running. I'm I'm running, right? And this this this other gentleman comes up and he's clearly soaked in sweat. And I start getting a whiff as I'm run I immediately go like this as I smile I go like I start doing this and then I look over at the guy and I go, it's him. Like I don't I don't point at him. I just like and then I have to do that. I have to smell that for another forty minutes 'cause I did like a a ten K. Yeah. And then when he left I I thought I had a like a five minute interval and I thought, okay, this is gonna be good. Like and now it it it started getting deeper. So so imagine like so to me, I'm just like if I smell, I'm like I mean we all smell. Technically we all smell, we all have a distinctive smell, but I'm just like, I don't know if I'd be happy about that, you know what I mean? And so Yeah, no. That's so weird. And so here here's another role playing scenario in this something we just talked about. Basically when when let's say you're a bear and you failed the do you like me? This is the time to say it now thing. What do you do in that situation? Are you going to follow suit and pull out the one wish willow? You don't know if it's real or not, by the way. Or why what is or do you do something else? Like what is what is going through your mind? No, I would not pull out the one wish willow. more than likely if I you were to use that, I'd probably wish for money. To be honest. But I it's hard to say because I really can't imagine myself pussying out like that, you know? I in my experience when I've liked someone, I have told them. It's never worked out, but I've told them. And I was like I was waiting to see if you would do it and then Okay, okay. If we're being honest, because that I feel like that's our podcast, that's our friendship, we're being honest. Yeah, I I I can be honest in that. When it comes to shooting my shots, not good at it. Not good back in the day. Now, well I'm not really I'm not really looking Today this point, but now if I was this version of me, yeah, I'm just gonna be honest. Cause I'd rather just deal with it because you experienced me not doing it with with with another person and what that would have saved me all the time and effort. And by the way, I I I can say this. Lua once said to me, true story, she once said to me, we were talking, I think this was when we were playing games a couple years, like like when we first started playing games in 2023. I think you said this to me was you said. I gotta can I just ask you a question? Do you do you attract crazy or do you make them crazy? This is true. Do you remember saying this to me? Yeah. Yeah. And and I think I responded with you by saying, no, no, I I'm attracted to crazy for sure. Absolutely. Cause everyone that I've been involved in, except the the girl I mentioned that I wish I I I I really shot, she was the only non-crazy one. So What does that say? That what I w I I just doubled down on insanity after that. I was like, that's it. But yeah, let's talk about let's see here. okay, here's another role-playing scenario. let's talk about the beginning of the movie where we don't really know what's going on in the beginning. It's it just shows Bear op expressing his feelings towards some girl. And then we find out that that is a role playing that he's role playing with a waitress at this diner while his friend Ian Is trying to see is giving him critique notes on it. And Ian found it to be cringeworthy. I wanted to ask you, what did you think of that scenario? Like, like you're in that scenario, you're you're Ian, and you watch Bear do that. You gave him that direction, by the way, to be vulnerable and you hear what he says. You heard him, he really he was really sappy. What do you think? What what do you think of that if you're if you if it's you versus like you're Ian. But you, your perspective. Like what Like I thought what he said was nice, but I would not recommend starting off like that. I would say, you know, try getting, you know, I don't know, asking her on a date. Like, don't put out all your feelings like that. It just makes it for me, it's awkward. I I would like to start something low and You know what I'm saying? Not something like, God, I've been in love with you all my life. I want you to be my girl. Like I don't know. But yeah, I thought it was a little weird. Yeah, i yeah, because the way I'm okay, the way I'm looking at it, the way you're describing it, I would be like, We're I thought we were just getting lunch. What do we what? What? I just came back from the bathroom. Like w what are we what did you say? Okay, so before I answer, let me ask you, you've seen me d do these type of scenarios with people. I think at the movie theater, right? Were you did you ever see this in w when when I did this in the closet with people where they I would come in and talk about their problems and we would like talk about it? Did you ever Okay. Do you think what do you think is my reaction to to seeing Bear do this? Like what do you think is is my reaction? You think I'm happy or not happy about that? I would say not happy. Bingo. I'm looking at this and going, Whoa, my man. Yes. Okay, okay, well, hold on here. I just said to you, just express how you feel. I didn't expect you to to go into a a gigantic origin tale. Like that's something I just need you to just say, I like you and and in f a hundred words or less. And then let her speak. Because she might follow up with like how long have you felt like this? And then you can proceed. Because when you're doing a monologue. You might be saying a little too much. And here you are. I wouldn't say it's cringeworthy. Like there's no way that's coming up. I would just be like, I don't know if that's the best approach. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Exactly. And then I and then I would look over and be like, all Lua, let's get a woman's perspective here. What do you think? And you're like Don't do that. Yeah. Yeah, no, that's true. I would do it with you or or Eden. Eden, you were the two that I would go to because I would work with you guys. And then if there wasn't you you two weren't available, I'd have to go get a any other woman who worked. at the theater, you know, outside of a manager be like, I need you to come to the storage closet. I need to we need help with the inventory. And y and people would come in knowing that that's not what I meant. yeah, I I don't know. I would just, you know, but I I think but then you look at that when you look at that conversation with Ian giving him a bunch of shit, right? And saying like don't ask her out at trivia night. That's cringe worthy. Like, you know, she doesn't like the sappy gift shit. And at the time we didn't know what that meant. We just thought he, you know, he he just he was just a good advice giver. But really he knew this because he was banging her on and off. Not he he basically wanted he wanted Nikki, but he didn't want to commit to Nikki. Where Bear wants Nikki, he just can't get her to commit because she doesn't know. Very interesting. Yeah, exactly. So what did you like n bef like when you first saw Ian give that advice, what was your reaction? And then when you found out the truth, what did you really think about it now in hindsight? I can kind of see I mean I obviously d don't think that the w What he said or the way he was fair, the way he was his speech and stuff, I think it's a little too much. But I can also see that Ian I feel like he kind of was sabotaging it a little bit. Like he wants his cake but do and makes it too. What's the post? I am the bicep. He wants his cake and you can't have your cake you can't you can't was my god, now I'm getting tired. Yeah, you can't have your cake yeah. You can't have your cake and eat it too. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So he wants to bang her, but it doesn't want to date her, but he also doesn't want anybody else to really date her either. But that's kind of what I see. Yes. Yes. I w I I I first I was like, yeah, he's he seems like a good friend. I don't know if I agree with a lot of his advice. And then looking back with that conversation when he cock blocks and then he seems to be concerned with Nikki and like what's up with that. I was like, bro, you're you're a piece of shit. You're truly a a horrible friend. And high like in true in all honesty, you're a horrible friend because you you have you know that your best friend is into her, into Nikki so much so that for seven years, man, he has been torturing himself by being her friend instead of just being honest. And for two years, you were like, fuck it. I'm gonna I'm gonna hook up with my friend. That's that like it's not even bro code. That's friend code. Don't do that. Don't do that. Because listen, friends, it's hard to find friends. It's hard to find good friends. It's hard to find really trustworthy good friends. Bear might be womp womped in my br in my mind. For real though. But he is he is a good friend. Like he is clearly a good friend. as he demonstrates with all three of them, Sarah, Nikki, and Ian. You know what I mean? So yeah, I was like, Okay, here's a another let's move over back to the need to know's. This is a serious this is actually a serious one actually before I asked the ridiculous one was what was your reaction to in when Bear discovers his cat had died of an overdose from eating his prescription pills that are found on the floor and what did you think of him crying after burying the cat? How did the cap get open on the prescription? It's so weird, right? I don't know. I don't understand. Me Meet the Parents told me when she when Jinxie cat was going to the bathroom, like they don't have opposable phones, so I don't know how I I'm assuming he probably left them out and he and and she was clawing enough to or maybe he left them kind of opened. Yeah. Yeah, I don't know. But yeah, irresponsible owner. Yeah. I mean I know there's people out there that really love their pets, so I I can understand people, you know, having a hard time after a pet dies. especially if they kind of died because of you left your pills out. But yeah, I I I could see his reaction being normal. Yeah. I I I I felt I felt horrified because I was like, damn, your y your cat died and then when I find out he's responsible I was like, My man, are you really that down in the dumps that you can't put your prescription pills away correctly? 'Cause when he opens up the The cap in it in his bathroom, it looks fucking filthy. Like it's not even slack, right? Yeah. And then like him crying about the cat. I don't feel bad. I cried when my when I had to put my French bulldog. They had IVDD. I didn't cause that. Okay. That's just that's just something that happens with them. Okay. I didn't if my dog overdoses because of me, yeah, I'm probably gonna just I'm probably going out too. I ain't gonna lie. Cause I I would be so mortified. No, me seriously I'd be so mortified 'cause like I killed my my sweet, my sweet baby? Like, absolutely not, but No, I don't feel bad from crying because I think pets mean a lot. I I sure as I'll cry when my dog I cried when I got home after putting her to sleep. I was like, fuck. now here's here's a ridiculous question on the need to knows. Have you ever been in lying in bed scrolling, looking at your crush's Instagram? Like he was a Nikki? Obviously. wow, you're honest. have I ever done it lying in bed? No. Not lying in bed, but I'm kidding. What, sitting in bed? No, I like when I'm watching like like I could be watching it happened when I would stream back in the day. I would like or like or I would just play like I would just look. Yeah. But then again, I didn't really look too much because I could just I could just text them to be honest. Like I could just literally just text them. But have I done it? Yeah, but not in bed. I would you've done it? You've been opening I just want to preface. I wasn't like deep scrolling through their their, you know, Instagram or anything. It was just like One, two scrolls, maybe all right, I'm out. You know those one, two scrolls like three, four pictures to you looking at No. Four to eight photos total. But like like to me, like when I did it, I didn't I don't think I went to their page. I think I just saw it and then just was like, they put a new photo. And then I don't think I actually went on their page 'cause I'm just like I'm pretty sure I know all the photos. I see. I'm sure you would, hmm? Okay. I'm gonna leave it there. Okay. Let's see here. What else do we have in the role playing scenarios? Okay. So Nikki stays over at his house. It's very strange. It's very weird. He ends up lying in bed with it's just really weird. He gets up, she's gone. Okay, you're bear in this situation. Okay. You wake up, you go check the kitchen, you see there's a beautiful breakfast on the table, and then you're looking for Nikki. So you go to the kitchen and you discover. A memorial for your dead cat, and she did you the solid of bringing the cat back from the burial and laying it down on this like pillow thing as a memorial. And in the scene, he's pretty mortified, very upset about it. She's like, I didn't think it was that bad. let me ask you, what did you think of the original scene? And then how are you handling that if it's you? Yeah, I would be It was surprising at how calm he was. And like how sh nonchalant she was about it too, but she was, you know, possessed or something. I would be like, All right, you gotta get the hell out of here, man. I don't know what you're doing. You went out there and dig up my cat. What? And then you brought it to the kitchen? Nah, you you got to go. Like like like you're like you're like you're a bouncer or a club, you're ejected now. Like This is weird. I gotta be honest. I I've become a germophobe or I've realized I'm a germophobe. I don't know if I was when when we when we really hung out and worked either. Was I with that? Not as much now, but I know recently. Yes, after COVID, I was like, fuck this. I gotta be honest though, even even prior to COVID, dead animal in the house after I've buried it, I'm gonna start gagging because that thing probably stinks. And it's if it's my French bulldog. I don't think I'm gonna be as calm as him. I'm like, get the fuck out. Are you are you are you out of your mind? Like are you know that that yeah, I would be triggered, very angry. And I probably would be saying this as I'm eating that delicious breakfast, like, you gotta get the fuck out. It's just it's just not right. It's just not right. You know, like wow, wow, did you what kind of sausage is this? You gotta get the fuck out though, after this. No, I'm in all seriousness, though, I probably would be like, You gotta I I don't know if I would scream at her, but like, are you fucking kidding me? Like you need to leave now. Yeah, yeah. But before you leave, I'm petting Clean up the kitchen. Yeah. Well, clean up the kitchen. Clean up the kitchen by taking this and I'm gonna get where's the shovel at? You're you're you're f what you start it, you finish it. Put her put her back in the ground. Like I'm not kidding. I'm making Nikki out there, Barry. And I'm even and then I say to her, you know what? Dig deeper. 'Cause I want to make sure she's not coming back up. We don't want a memorial two, okay? You know, in fact, go get some cement, some setup, put it on top. Yeah, and then she comes out looking like John Wick in the first movie after they killed his dog and she's like breaking it like Yeah. okay, here we go. What's the next one? Okay. Another role playing scenario. How terrifying would it be if you were bear and you have to go to work, it's Nikki's day off. And she tells you she wishes you didn't go, but you're like, you know, I'll be fine. She's like, I can come you. Like, no, no, no. It's good, it's good. But you're you you turn around to leave and you are your jaw has dropped because she has taken all the duct tape possible in your house to put on the door so you can't leave. f so you don't go to work. Let me ask you okay, we want to know your thoughts on the original scene and then what are you doing in that situation? How terrifying is that for you? I think it's crazy how under The what is it called? How under He's very nonchalant about it. Yeah, like he didn't react. Yeah, he's kind of a lot, which is surprising. Like she taped up your door. That's not a normal thing to do. yeah, I would I would've kicked that bitch out too. D are you gonna go out that door still? Do I have another door or a window? I I mean you could I mean for me I'm going out through the back. Yeah, if there's a back option I'm gonna get get out of there. I mean And I'll take that bitch with me and be like, you're not coming in anymore. Like I hate to say this, but we're gonna have to we're gonna have to taper off this thing we have going on right now. You know, like this this I'm gonna have to put I'm gonna have to put some tape on this whatever's happening right now. Like like you can't come back. I would I was terrified because I looked at that was like, whoa. I I'm also very I've been c accused of being emotionless and handling like I when it comes to handling like traumatic situations, I have been known to be emotionless. So I probably would react the same way, but like, okay. You do know you do realize I have to ship some shit later, right? Like we don't have any tape. So I have to go to the store. So it's gonna now you're gonna have to wait an extra fifteen minutes not to see me later. because I was like, well, he has a lot of tape in his house to be able to do all that. I know. I would be terrified. I would just be like, all right, I'm you what? I'm just gonna go out through the back door. when you're done, can you take all this off so I can come back in? You know what I mean? I think she'll do it because she wants me to come back. Okay, so the last role-playing scenario is I think this happens before the tape. Is Nikki When he's trying to confront her about the vase situation and she was acting weird in the c you know, watching him sleep, all that. We'll come back to that. she starts like acting weird to the point where she just kind of like stops talking and just kind of like smiles, like that that iconic smile that she's gonna do after he leaves with the tape, right? And she basically asks him, like, how's this? And he's like, Not great. Let me ask you, you're in that situation. All right. Well, I want to know your initial reaction to the ri the original scene, what actually happens. There's always two parters. And then like how are you handling that when she when she's smiling creepily if you're bear in that situation? She asks you, how's this? What's the response? Same as bear or maybe maybe not so much? yeah, though that that was a creepy face that she made. Pretty impressive how creepy it was. I I would probably be like That's scary. That's creepy. What are you doing? I don't know. But yeah. Yeah. I don't know. You want okay, so I I was I I was like, that's very strange. Like I'm I'm I'm already alarmed because I don't like the her responses to me 'cause it seems like there's something not right. But when she does it, you know, if she if I'm in that situation she does it, I'd just be like, yeah, could you Could you stop doing that real quickly? Cause I'm I'm trying to talk to you. You know, like Yeah, I need I need you I know you were playing with plants last night, but I need you to plant your feet in this conversation right now because we're I I can only I I'm using an analogy to get your attention. Like, can you could you please not it's fine. Your smile's great. Like, listen. But then a part of me is like, you know, I cope with my coping mechanism is humor. And there's a part of me that's like, let's put a smile on that. wow. You wanna know how I got these scars? And she's like, What? And then like I'm like, all right, anyways, so yeah, you're acting kind of strange that night. you know, I mean and speaking of that, actually, yeah, let's talk about some of the weird, obsessed Nikki situations, you know, and the need to know. So let's go let's let's let's discuss these. Okay, let's talk about so after a while, you know, you know, her and Bear are hitting it off, right? And he wakes up one night after they've kind of He's kind of just basically doesn't give a fuck. And he's with her. And he can't find her. And then we're he's kind of looking for him. And you can kind of see something's in the in the corner, in the dark corner. It's her. And she says, like, go back to sleep. I like to watch you sleep. He realizes that she's wearing his sweater, which she says, once again, smells like you. Then starts getting crazy, like, why don't you love me? Like, and then she starts moving, disappears. Then she pops up with that vase. I'm sure there's something you know, and then she's like she then acts normal, like then she gets in bed and then I know it's a lot, but then she then he tries to get up. I is that the scene where he tries to get up and she's like Yeah, I think so. Don't leave like screams at him, Stay Okay, so what did you think of that entire scene? Like what is going through your mind through that all? I mean, she definitely portrayed creepy very well. Like It was really creepy and scary. If that were me, holy crap. I'd want to leave, for sure. Probably go to church or something. You really are that person when I used to s I don't know if you heard me say this, but when people would be I'm scared, I'm like, You're so scared, go to church. Like you are that you are that You think church is gonna save you in this situation? I don't know. That's not normal and I don't think I've ever seen any, you know, somebody somebody dealing with like mental issues act like that before. That's another level, a demonic spiritual thing. So Yeah. So when she says like she says like when she says to him like go back to sleep and he starts like going back to sleep, you're not doing that? No, I'll be like, my god, I just got a message. I think my mom's in trouble. I gotta go check on her real quick. She she's like, Can I come? No, no. She doesn't approve of you. I'm over here like it's immediate family only, so I immediately need to go. W I just want you guys to know that we really take this this review seriously, but we have to c Lou and I cope with humor. Like it's just it's this is that's just us 'cause we've dealt with mental health and you know, but so I I just want you guys to know that we're gonna get some s we're gonna get serious in a second here, but yeah, I was I was alarmed. To me, it's there's I'm looking at Bear and thinking like he knows something's wrong, but like he doesn't ha I think he's blocking out his awareness levels because he got he got Nikki finally. Because I'm like, you are noticing right that she's exhibiting strange signs of things not correct. And I know you're into her, I know you finally got her, but you don't think for a second like this is not right. It's like s this isn't this isn't Nikki that you're used to. Yeah. No, so I would be terrified, like utterly terrified, where I'm like, when she says she wanted to watch me sleep, she's in the corner, she's like all this is and then when I'm trying to get up and she's like, Stay, there's no way I am falling asleep. In fact, I I would be the next night having a knife with me because I'm like, What the fuck? Literally. Yes. All right, let's talk about here's a good one. Let's get serious here, and then also probably have some jokes in this, but let's get serious where after she leaves his house in the beginning, which you after he does the one wish will she came to his house. They go to work. Actually let's go let's start with work first. Let's talk about that work thing where they show up to work. Ian's really like what? And say what Sarah. I believe even Carter, her dad, is like pffff like it's just really weird. And Ian and him start talking in a corner and Nikki pops up and she's just staring by the register. Clearly not normal behavior to the point where like Ian and and Bear talking about like he's trying to explain to her that like her dad died of can her dad's dying from cancer, she's acting strange. May and then they think she's on Molly, which is that was a funny scene too. He's like, it's it's Molly. Yeah, that's that's it, guys. Yeah. And then he asks if like she's staring at them, right? And then like she is staring at them and then gets very uncomfortable. And then Ian eventually goes over there to talk to her. Let me ask you, you you are Yeah, how do you how do you feel about that scene? And if you're if you're Bear and Ian tells you that she's been staring at them for a prolonged time, what is going through your mind? Yeah, it was really creepy. Like he seeing her in the background just staring at him, like obviously staring, not trying to hide, that's definitely creepy, but it's something you know, it added to the scene. I would be freaked out as well. And I'm just surprised that Bear wasn't He was like, Yeah, she's just on drugs, of course. That's normal. You know, I don't know. It's weird. yeah, it's I would I I would be terrified if that was in that situ like in all seriousness, it's a very uncomfortable situation because I'd be like, What is happening? Like in all seriousness, like, what is that? And if I'm in that situation, I'm terrified. Because as as I pointed out earlier, Lewis says I'm attracted to crazy and they're not even using the one wish willow. That's just how they are. You know what I mean? Like, no. I can only imagine if you use one. I'd be my god, if I used one or if someone used one on me, god, I'd be f you wouldn't have a front anymore. Yeah, no way. I would I I would be I would be you'd be you'd be at the funeral. I can tell you that right now. It's not happened. Yeah, I I if I use it, you have every right to take me out. Which it would never happen, but like I don't think I would use it romantically though. I think I'm with you. Actually, that would go into another question. You have to use the one wish willow. Okay? We have to use it. I know you mentioned earlier money. Is there anything else that you would use it for? Besides money? my god. I don't know. Wish that there was no more w warm people are at peace. I don't know. Are you trying to get into Hollywood? That that is a great answer. That is I mean it's and all honestly, that is a really good answer if you're like i i if I I don't know if I believe that you will use the one wish willow. If you have to choose between money or war, I think you're just like every other person in America. You're just gonna be like money. what would I use it for? Money would be the easiest option. I mean, it would benefit me to be honest. but okay, here's one that it this is really messed up and I'm just gonna do it because I think it'd be interesting. Could you imagine if I had used the one wish willow to be like because I'm I'm very pessimistic and negative and I just go, I no longer wanna think so badly of myself. Break. What is happening from there? Thing. my god. I think your whole life would change. You'd probably be doing like a whole bunch of different stuff. I don't know, you probably Yeah. Damn, you would be a whole new person. If you weren't so pessimistic, maybe. But I know you've also always said that you wanted to be immortal, so I'm surprised you wouldn't wish of that wish that. Hold on, hold on, sorry. Fuck fuck mean. I I'll be negative regardless. I'm choosing to live forever. I I went through this on another podcast. So I I don't know which one's gonna come out first, but you get to hear two different times that I bring up immortality. Yeah, I would like to live forever, because then if shit goes wrong even after you're gone, I can just reset and try again. That's miserable. I would never want to be immortal. What if you were immortal but you would always be like stuck at ninety years old? Would you still do that? Okay, so there you go. This is really good. You're helping me out. You're not actually you're actually helping me out in the wrong ways. Is yeah, I I make the one wish willow or I say I want to live forever as the age I am right now. Now, will the one wish willow grant that because there's two techni there's a technicality in that. But as long as I say it, I think, as one complete sentence, I think I can get away with it. What do you think? I think that it would find a way to fuck you. You know, you probably like live forever at the age you are now, but then you have the worst luck for eternity. I don't know. So nothing changes then? Let's see here. What let's talk about another scenario. Let's talk about this is really important actually. Is I was talking about earlier, but I was talking about the music store. But after the music store, they leave work and Bear's kind of thrown off with Nikki. So she looks like she's about to get in his car to go back to the house. And he's like and he makes up he's like, I can't take you to some. I can't take you a ride. And she's like, I know. I'm gonna go with Ian. And Ian's like, I got this. I was like, Of course you got this, asshole. Because you're a backstabbing piece of shit. Yeah. And then He tells he we see Bear's house that he's talking to Ian who who c she basically conf confirms that she might have been a little intoxicated, maybe on the Molly. Then he gets a knock on the door, and the lighting the the beaut the beauty of the lighting that contributes to this darkness too is Nikki's in a and clearly looks dressed up in this beautiful red dress. She pops over, she wants to apologize for being strange, which leads into her Which is really interesting role reversal, by the way, that sh leads into her admitting that she likes Bear, clearly because of the one Wish Willow. And Bear's like, How long have you liked me? Which I did bring up. She she said around Christmas. And then sh you know, like she asked she asked him, Do you like do you like me? Which she then finally confirms, and we have, you know, and so I wanted ask you, what an interesting parallel, right? Like where when it was his time to do it, he couldn't do it. The one wish willow version of Nikki, the obsessed Nikki, is able to do it. And I still think she would have done it even as I think she would have been honest if he had shot his shot. I think she would have been honest regardless. But what did you think of that scene where she actually, you know, is vulnerable and actually admits it, though it's under, you know, false pretenses because of a wish one wish willow. And then what did you think of him being. vulnerable and and then admitting that he likes her when he had the chance to do it under pure intentions. She was more compelled. Compelled to you know, tell him how she's feeling. But it it I don't know if those were her real feelings. That's, you know, my opinion, obviously. and it's of course, Bear finally admits that he's you know, his feelings towards her, which I still think he's a pussy 'cause he should have done that before. And yeah. It was a weird weird scene, but very well done, 'cause it was still creepy. Yeah, because like you can see like this like kind of like like a like a light tint on her eyes, even though she's completely dark and it's very creepy. But it it it sh it it really demonstrates how much Bear never actually does anything. Like he he waits for things to be done to him before he reacts. Like like I'm glad that you admitted you liked her, but now it's a disaster because y you did it under the worst circumstances. So like You're not like I always thought of him as a villain anyway, to be honest. I thought he was a villain before he did the one wish willow because I like, You're a villain to yourself. You're detrimental to yourself. I know this because I've been you. I've never been the version that that one wish willows just want to say that. but like to me I'm just like, you you never you never actually You never t you never actually step up when it matters. You never step up when it matters throughout this whole movie. You can't. And so I I just was like it just was an interesting parallel because I was like, you now admit you you like her because Nikki had to do it. You couldn't do it, you couldn't put yourself out there when you had you were gonna go into the unknown. You didn't know what she was gonna react if you had told her the truth in when you dropped her off. You're such you're such a coward. You you you literally are a coward and I can't stand you. Exactly. See? Lou and I are on board here. Okay, let's get to This one I really want to get a woman's perspective on. Okay, so after that they have that romantic montage, by the way. I'm sure you noticed it in it in the romantic montage, whenever they're at work, they show they show Ian, Sarah, and her dad Carter all look at one point in the like, what the fuck is going on? And it's a cute montage, romantic montage, even though I hated it because it's not real, but it it it looks like things are going well and then We got to that whole dinner situation. We'll we'll come back to that dinner situation where she has her thing. But actually, you know what, we're gonna talk about it because it has it does go in line with what what I'm about to say. Is after he talks to Ian, or even before Ian, they're having a cute little banter where he kind of reveals that he wants to be a food critic. But he says he he's vulnerable. What he could never do with her really, he's able to do this now because this obsessed Nikki's giving him the outlet to do it, which is really says a lot about Bear as a person and he needs to he all his issues, he needs to go to therapy 'cause well, prior to all this, he should have gone to therapy 'cause he can't do anything. But I'll come back to that closed book thing that she mentioned that he mentions that about her. But yeah, they're having this cute little conversation, then the whole Ian thing. And then when he comes back, he's like, Do do you really like me? You know, like what What's going on with your dad? Because she's been really going around her dad. Anytime he gets brought up now, she's I don't want talk about it. And so then he kinda pushes back, like, Do you really like me? Like, what's going on with your dad? And we get that really creepy scene where she's like, No, no, no. And then she gets up and she's like, We're having a nice night and making this gigantic scene. What did you think of that scene? And when when when it comes to a point, we'll get to that. We'll talk about that next. But then There's a part of this scene where she's like when he's pushing back on her dad and all that and he calms her down and she's like he's like, What's going on with your dad? Seriously. She's like, Does it really matter? That's gonna come back into play and what we're gonna talk next. But what did you think of that whole dinner scene of her freaking out? I mean it's great acting, by the way. It's phenomenal performance by Indy that where she really nails all this, but what you think of this? Yeah, she did really good. I remember when I first like the first time I saw it in, you know, that scene, I was just like, my god. This chick is so creepy. Like, what kind of a reaction is that? And so yeah, she did really good in that movie, in that scene. The the entire movie she did good. but yeah, and then he's just trying to calm her down because he's all embarrassed and stuff, like, bro, you put her in this situation. This is why she's acting this way, is because of you. This is not her normal self, but yeah. Yes. Yeah, it's yeah, it's like it's like It's like he poured gasoline. He's just constantly pouring gasoline on it. I mean, I don't blame him for pushing back, but like once she starts saying that no, I'm like, okay, okay, okay, you what? I might have over I might have pushed the boundaries. But yeah, but the reason why I bring up the point where she says, Does it really matter? Basically, she says something along that line. That is a key pivotal moment for people. I love how I'm doing this by the way. That looks so strange. If you're wondering what I'm doing, Delou, I'm I'm like doing like the like you're this close kind of like hand sent Gesture, but it just literally looks weird because what I'm about to say, what's gonna happen next, is she's like, Does it really matter? And he kinda looks at her, and this is when Bear turns into a true villain when he goes, Fuck it. And the next scene is him banging her and he can't see her reaction, but she's basically just looking like she's looking like not even into it. She's like and she's fake she's basically moaning, but it's like fake moaning, but she looks completely checked out of that and also kind of horrified. And then she and then when they finished, she's like, You were so you were so good. But like w w what do you think of that scene and what do you think that says a lot about Bear as a character? I think it's he's definitely selfish. Like he made all this decision just for for his, you know, satisfaction. And even though I'm sure he knows deep down inside, this is not really what she wants. Like this is not her, he's still just gonna go along with it and bang her. You know, not knowing if the real Nicky would actually want that. He's still just gonna go and do it. yeah, that was weird too. Seeing her face just completely without emotion moaning is crazy. It's horrifying. I mean, like, it is truly like like there's a lot of horror aspects in this. That might be the most brutally honest horror aspect. That person's being raped, basically. Like, let's be honest, because that's not her. You're taking advantage of a woman that you supposedly love. That is not love. You wouldn't do that to somebody you truly love. And You you said it best. He's selfish. He's incredibly selfish and disgusting. Like I was just like the minute that happened, I was like, What a piece of shit. You know, and and I saw this with a friend of mine the second time and he told me at one point he looked he I don't know when it was, but he said he looked over, he goes, I I I you look like you wanted to rip that guy's fucking face off. I was like, Absolutely, yes, yes, I did. It was probably it's probably when he said, I just think of you as a friend. But like that whole time I'm like it it was it was a disgusting thing to see and it shows you How some people are that truly despicable that they're willing to sacrifice somebody they genuinely care about for their own selfish reasons. You know that's not her because she's had moments where she's flipped out, where she's like, Whoa, what the fuck am I doing? Like she kisses him in that when she when he first brings her back to his house, she kisses him and she goes, what the fuck? Like she's freaking out. And it's like, and she does that other times too. And it's like he knows he's tuning this out. Because he finally got her. Now he does have moments of conflict, but it's never of anything vital. It's always him just being like, fuck it. Like am I so bad? Like he always plays a victim too, and I hate v his victim bullshit too. yeah, just truly that is one of the worst things I've ever saw in that whole movie. I was like, You you deserve death. Yeah. And then he always defends like her behavior or whatever, whenever somebody brings it up, like, yo, sh this is really weird, like, w why is she like this or blah blah blah he's always defending her, you know, just trying he's clearly I don't know what I'm saying. But yeah, he's always defending her actions as if it's all okay what he's doing and he's still gonna stick with it even though he knows it's wrong. He's still defending it. Actually great, great that you point out. Yeah. So yeah, this says a lot about him as a person. That whenever it's brought up, like, hey, like something's not right with Nick. Ian does it, Sarah does it, and when they go to the party, I think people know there's something wrong. And he rationalizes it for his own selfish gain, is he's creating this th his own trauma is him trying to find ways to justify his actions. His discussing actions. He knows that he's wrong. But he is so has a such a negative perception of himself that this event of Nikki wanting him has has kind of made him made his negativity go down to something truly evil where he manifests ways to to justify his actions to help explain it to others. And it's like it's it's crazy because as like if you really think about it as a human level, like this is truly a person who needed help. prior to the one wish willow. But then this shows you what people will do, human nature when when they are get when they get what they want and they want it so badly that they'll use their own ego will justify it. Their ego will justify their behavior. Yeah, it's very concerning. Like these are real themes in this movie that I found to be very alarming, concerning and scary because I was just like, you're really like when we say you're a piece of shit, like you truly are, that you're willing to to put I could never do this to somebody I love. That that is outrageous. And you know this from it from my experience. I've been through put through hell and even then I still endured it. But this is like I I mean like no. Like it's just unacceptable behavior, right? Yeah. And then remember that part where he like calls the one wish willow place for to complain or something or try to change it and then he's like, You wanna talk to her? And then all you hear is her screaming. Like that's the real Nikki screaming because she's clearly, you know, trapped somewhere. I don't know. and he still continues. He still continues. Yeah. Yes. Glad that you brought this up. Yes, the when he calls the hotline because he's clearly not able to process things. Like when he finally gets what he wants, it's not how he actually won it's not how he actually believes he was gonna get it. When he actually gets this version, this the sinister version He can't handle it after a while. He calls a hotline and he's like, Can I alter a wish? Like I mean, like he won he first he says, Can like like he was like the guy thought he won the cancel wishes, like, do you want to cancel wish? Like, yeah, well, actually, we don't really do that. By the way, I know if you know, that's actually Curry Barker talking. Yeah, I know. I I recognize his voice. I I figured you would because of you watching the the TikTok. But yeah, like and he played it really well, by the way, like a moron. And then he's like, Well, we don't really cancel wish. He's Well, can I alter a wish? And he's Well, we don't really do that either. And he's like, Well, is it real? Her love? And he's like, Just because she d just because you wished for it doesn't mean that wish for it for her doesn't mean doesn't make it any less real. That is horrifying. That is basically that is he's basically telling you whatever you need to do to get off the phone, but that is yeah, it is not real. And then, yeah, actually he doesn't want to ever confront things. He doesn't do well with confrontation and he doesn't want to confront the reality of his choices or what could possibly happen if he made a choice. Like if he would have shot his shot with her, he's afraid to say it. I know this because I live this. I hate to say this. You just have to bite, you just have to bite the bullet. You made the choice. You sh you that's the shot you decided to do was not tell her how you feel. You gotta live with it. Okay, now you've shot your shot. Through a one wish willow that's gave you a version of Nikki that is not nothing like you actually really wanted. And then when the guy says, Hey, you can talk to Nicky, he clearly knows who you are. She's screaming. She's literally somewhere in that body in a prison. She's screaming for help. The person that you said you love for so many years that you would that she was the only person in your world that made sense. Your person is screaming for help. And you're so pathetic and selfish and disgusting that you would not even you hear that and your first reaction is to hang up the phone. We don't do that with people we love and care about, especially romantically. We want to protect those people. We want to cherish those people. We want to care for those people. We want to make them the happiest person in the world. We don't want to lock them in a prison unless you're just a fucking asshole or psychotic piece of shit. Like that is crazy behavior. And I'm glad that you brought that up because that would have been a snare I would have brought up and I and yeah like Not cool. And like as as a woman, how do you feel seeing all this? I think this is pretty scary. the length somebody would go to just to get a girl, like easily just, you know, man up and ask her out. If she says no, what's the worst that'll happen? No, okay. We'll just find somebody else, I guess. I don't know. But to go out and wish something against someone's will To be with you, that's that's insane. Abusive. Yeah, yeah. And you and I we talked we we literally talked about how we shot our shot, it didn't work out with people. And it sucks. I mean you're you're happily married now, so you should yeah, you're good now. I mean I'm I'm not. But like finally worked out. Yeah, it finally worked. But the point is like you don't you don't feel like you don't have those kind of regrets where like Well, I mean I mean, you don't have regrets shooting your shot. I know you. You're pretty like you're like I did it. I wouldn't do it. I I and I have regrets for not doing it. But like sometimes it just doesn't work out, man. And I would tell people this, like, hey, you know what, at least you could shoot your shot and you could feel better at the end of the day. I say that, by the way, and would refuse to listen to my own advice. How great was that? The biggest fraud i in history, right? I know, seriously. But I'm not wrong though. Like they like if it didn't work out with Nikki, your your only choices are cease contact and just break off everything, or you just accept what you've been accepting for seven years. You just you're just her friend. That's it. You know what I mean? let let's let's let's talk about let's talk about Sarah and and she she has a crush on Bear, clearly. And they have a connection. They really do have he's able to be more vulnerable with her. You know, like like for instance, like when when they're working together, she's kinda down the dumps 'cause she got another rejection letter. They kinda lay on each other. They have this real conversation. Like he makes a joke that she can tattoo him, you know. I wouldn't I wouldn't. She's not professional, bro, but hey, I get it. but they can have they can be vulnerable with each other. Like like they can have conversations. Like in the car, that's you know, like we'll come to that in a second. But like Do you think Bear made the wrong choice o obviously for not shooting a shot with Nikki, but also for not maybe pursuing something with Sarah? 'Cause it's clearly like she's willing to roll the dice with him, right? Yeah. she definitely liked him and it felt more natural their connection and, you know, their ability to communicate with each other felt more natural. But maybe 'cause he was not as intimidated or worried about being rejected, that's why he was more easy to talk with her and stuff like that. And obviously 2020, you know, knowing that she liked him, obviously I would be like, Yeah, go ahead and try, you shoot your shot with her. But you can't if he doesn't genuinely like her, then you can't really pursue someone you don't really see in that manner. But yeah, I think I he I think he didn't really you know, pursue anything just because he wasn't really that into her. And yeah. See, I think he did like her, but he didn't realize it until it's too late. And then that van scene happens. I think he didn't realize it. But you pr you pointed out something. Yeah, he doesn't overthink things with her. He's very just himself. With Nikki, it's constant like, and we've been there. We've all been there. When you like somebody, you're constantly overthinking. Unless you're like real smooth. God bless all of you that are smooth. You know, I I can fake until I make it sometimes, but sometimes even I overthink. But yeah, I think that he might have missed an opportunity with that. I mean, yeah, she just seemed like a really she really genuinely cared for him, and it was nice to see him not be a dumbass, because he's a dumbass throughout this whole movie. And let's talk about the van scene. So the van scene, well actually let's talk about Ian's party. We're gonna wrap this up. Ian's party. Ian's having a party, him and Bear not communicating since Nikki and Bear are having a thing. Clearly, Ian's jealous. He's not happy. and he gets a ride home with Bear and they have an argument that he's taking advantage of Nikki. It looks like he's taking advantage, and everyone else notices, and I'm just like, I think that is true, but I also think you're just saying that because you're jealous. but then he's like, You can come to my party, it's a boys' night, which though Sarah mentioned his party, so that was bullshit. He's like, Yeah, you can come, but don't bring her. She ends up having a fit. Nikki goes crazy. When she's in the shower after like my god, I don't even want to know after what she did while she was waiting for him to come home. they go to the party 'cause he has to take her. She's acting bizarre. They do the Jenga thing, right? Like, one guy won one guy pulls the Jenga thing if I'm correct, and he says he can s he can switch places with people. I guess everyone likes Nikki 'cause he wants to sit next to Nikki and she was not happy. And then like she's clearly sad and one guy made a joke, like, damn bear, what'd you do? And she's like ha ha Like it's so awkward. She's laughing too much. It's really weird tension at this party. Let's get to the real bread and butter. Is Bear picks one, and I had talked about the shot how the visually looked cool, but it's like kiss the person on your left in that cool pan shot. Like they pan, they they move they pan over to her, and it's just like everyone's just like, fuck. And then Nikki does the most one of the most iconic things in the movie. She gets up, moot, pulls her out, goes, sits next to Bear. Like n kind of kneeling, like basically on her feet and just kisses him. what did you think of Ian Ian's part? Because not just that, she also reads a very strange thing she wrote about Hanson Gretel, who are brother and sister that also bang. Whatever. It mentions a willow thing, and then everyone's kinda freaked out. She's like like she was like, I'm just kidding. There's a point where she's I'm just kidding at one point that she's like, Actually I'm not, so fuck it. you know, that whole scene with Nikki freaking Freaky Nicky acting strange and then her doing that thing to Sarah to get the kiss. Like, what did you think of that whole party? And then her eventually when she freaks out. she actually snaps out for a brief moment too, and then she ends up hitting herself in the face, which everyone's alarmed while Bear's just sitting there nonchalantly, just so checked out, and every and I and I at one point you hear Ian say, You're an asshole. What did you think of that whole entire Ian's partying scene and what she was doing? That whole scene was crazy. Like just everything that was going on and then how you can tell what she was saying was like affecting the whole group, changing the whole mood after she read that story. That story was crazy. And I like the part where, you know, she when they when Barry p pulls out the thing and it says to kiss the person on the l left And then you just see her going behind the chair behind Sarah and she's just standing there for a couple seconds. Just and you're just like waiting, like what what the hell is she gonna do? I thought she was gonna attack her like the first time I saw it. And then she just pulls her back and Sarah's just like you know, holding on to the chair all scared, like what the heck? And then she leans in to kiss Bear. Yeah, the whole scene was crazy. And then her just stabbing her face with the Bottle and Bear's just like not even responding. What the hell is going on? It was crazy. It was a crazy scene. It also shows you how desensitized he is to her behavior to the point where he doesn't care anymore. It's just so normal for him that he'll have to rationalize it in a way that will justify his behavior. It was crazy though. Yeah, it was crazy. And also I think that has to be her most iconic moment, right? Was right before she does the move, that iconic frown is so insane that I would see that all over film Twitter for like two, three months. Is crazy. Like iconic. It's just crazy how she did that that frowning thing. Let's talk about as we wrap, we're gonna get close to the dinner because I know this episode long, but let's get to the let's get to this part where after the tape situation, we never talked about this, but she just stands there when he leaves after he takes off for work and he gets through that tape door, and she's just sitting there with that creepy smile to the point where she pees. She stays there entirely until he comes home and she's got looks like I think she's shit on the floor. She pissed more, she's got shit all over her body. I think she threw up. ate something through I don't know what. no is it h I mean what is your thoughts on that that when he comes home and sees all that and then like how do you think you would have handled that differently? Yeah, that was sick. That was sick. I don't I don't know how your first reaction wouldn't be to like get the phone, call a priest, get an exorcism going on. Cause the hell who just that's not normal. Like I don't even I wouldn't know how to respond besides Just leaving and going to church, to be honest. Like that's insane. Okay. Similar to you, just a little different. How do you not just come home, see that, and call a housemaid to clean that shit up just like 'cause you know me? That's not what I was expecting to do. And and this is a true story. I guess I can reveal this is is when I worked at the movie theater, we had to clean a lot of people who had accidents. squirts, shits, like it was crazy. The reason why I'm bringing this up is is I back in the day I was so desensitized to it that I probably wouldn't gag. But now I would come in and be like freaky Nikki smooth like shit. I'm just like I mean, how do you not gag in that? But also I'd be I'd be incredibly concerned I and all honesty, I would be gagging while also being like, Are you okay? Like, why are you still here? Why are you still smiling? Are you okay? Like, do you eat something? Like, why are you all go to the shower? No, I'm serious. Like I would be I would have to clean her. I would wear a mask. I would wear a c a mask from the COVID days and be with gloves and clean her. Like I'm in all seriousness, I'd be grossed up, but also like have to take care of her. Like I'd be like, what happened? You know what I mean? it's just disgusting. But yeah, I or I just hire a maid just to do it. Like or I just be like old school like how we were back in the day where I'd be like, get the hose, meet me outside. Or just call nine and one, get the ambulance over here saying like, hey, she needs help. Take while they take her to the hospital, you go to the court, you get a restraining order and you put it on her so she can't come back. Change your locks and move. That day I'm getting I'm getting a restraining order, I'm getting a name change, and I'm getting a fucking passport, I'm getting the fuck out of there. my god. Okay. Now let's move over to as we wrap up the end, let's go to the van situation. So after Ian's party, after she went to the emergency room, looks like they didn't take her because she was acting weird. I don't know if that was her mom. I always wonder if that was her mom too. And then like she's just dancing. But anyways, they get her home. And as they're laying in bed, he he doesn't put his phone on vibrate, whatever. Not even gonna ask why that wasn't, but gets a text from her, Sarah. How's things? He's like, we're good. He once again, like you said, he cops out. We're we work things out. Bullshit. And then she says she has him she has some things she needs to tell him. It's important. And he's like, I can't just text it to me. She's I'm gonna come over if you don't meet me at this park. And they go to the park, and she has her letter, her last letter. She's been rejected at every college because she fucked up in high school. It's important. But then they kind of once again, no problems. He can have a conversation with her. He's vulnerable. And they s he you know, they somehow bring up that she was the one on the left that he was supposed to kiss. They had these really moments. Clearly she's kind of expressing that she does have a thing for him, she does care for him, and then Nikki shows up, that terr amazing jump scare, and she basically breaks the window, uses I think she has a brick in her hand and she's smashing s Sarah's face. And what did you think of that whole scene and the reaction to Sarah's death? Yeah, that whole whole scene was crazy. Definitely the first time when I saw it, I definitely jumped and screamed. Damn. Yeah, she went to town on that brick, you know what I'm saying? Yeah. that was a crazy scene and then just Bear just sitting there shocked, watching this all unfold. And then he goes along with like bearing the body or, you know, putting h putting the body away. like he still goes along with it, dude. What what is this guy thinking? Nothing but selfishness, I would say. Yeah. I I that jump scare got me so bad at the years. I I'm lucky I didn't do it like look as I jumped because that was that way it got me so bad that like I almost stood up and like punched the air. Like that type of j jumps. Like when we play the backwards. Yes. And I did that a couple times where I would like you could tell I'm doing like you're like, what's that? I I I got scared. Yeah, that it was horrific though, because like I felt incredibly bad for Sarah. She's just a casualty in this. Once again, bare selfishness. And like I was like he I think he realized right then and there that she was the one he should have went after. Like and then of course Nikki does it. And then Nikki by the way, Nikki might free obsessed, Nikki might have said the most honest thing as that version of her was when she goes, Well, you know, this is your fault, right? And it is. I don't mind. Yes. Yes. Yeah. So exactly, exactly. So All right, let's get to the ending. So I'm gonna do a little brief synopsis and then we're gonna wrap this up here. Okay. So Sarah's dead. They go to the music store, still not after hours, but there's still nobody there, so I don't know how they have five employees. and Nikki tells him he can go home. She's got this. And he goes home, by the way. He goes home, but then he goes and goes to that back to he goes to that store. And he starts crying. The guy's What did you do? The employ's I hey man, slow down that energy though. And then he buys two more one wish willows. Then he goes to Ian's house because the the employee says that if somebody makes a wish they could contradict his. Once again, you're wondering if he's gonna take accountability, right? You keep thinking he's gonna finally do the right thing. Goes to Ian's house. Ian's like, What the fuck happened? And then he tries to leave. He goes, No, seriously, what's going on with Nikki? And he tells him the truth that he Use the one wish willow, all that nonsense. Guys are stupid. Nikki maybe Nikki isn't maybe Nikki needs to get away from both these guys because they they ain't it. Is he tells him that he needs him to do something with the one wish willow. The Ian doesn't believe him. He goes, fuck it. Great moment. Breaks it. I wish for a billion dollars. Boom, it starts showering. What is your thoughts on that part before we get further in? I thought that was so it was funny and unexpected when I first saw it. Just how quickly he took that out and he says like a billion dollars, you know. I can't even wait to finish listening to Bear saying what he wants him to wish and just seeing all that money coming down. That was crazy. yeah, that was a good scene. Yeah, I I thought it was insane that like this is the guy that's supposed to be your best friend and he you're open up to him. Yeah, it sounds outrageous, but like at what point do I think this is a joke? You know what I mean? But that just shows you how stupid Ian is too, and how Ian is so upset at Bear because he has Nikki now. These guys are fucking idiots. And so basically he goes back to the house and there's like little candles lit. There's little shrine of their like a bulletin board of them. And then he sees Sarah, who's naked, smashed, naked. Not that type of smash people, but n naked. And And i I mean, I'm I'm not laughing at that part. I'm just laughing because that double entendre of the smash. But like she's just sitting there naked and he's hor that's horrifying. It's horrifying to see like, my god. And then Nikki is wearing a black dress. She's got weird drawings on her, and she's like, You don't love me. And she's screaming at him. And he's like, I gotta go to the bathroom, you know, and then like it just gets really strange. But basically she's screaming at him. She's saying, like, she's gonna she pulls out a gun, she's about to shoot him. And this is before the bathroom thing. And then Ian comes in, he's dude, I got a million dollars. And he's Whoa, Nikki, what the fuck is going on? Like and then Yeah, and then like she shoots him. By the way, she is really good with a gun, by the way. She got him headshot, baby. She must have really like Indy Never Ready really plays Call of Duty. Like she was real famous for streaming before she got her break. I I'm confident that she actually probably could have done the headshot, to be honest. Bear goes to the bathroom, she's screaming, she's getting crazy, and then she starts doing the it's okay, babe. If you need space, like let's take our time. Like it's just like whatever she can do to get him out. But he dropped the one wish willow, the the extra one he had, because he was trying to get her to make a wish. And then he decides that he's going to shoot himself. He doesn't. Then he decides he's gonna overdose. And we think that finally he's gonna set Nikki free. He's gonna do the right thing. And then he decides No, I'm gonna throw up and not and keep this going. But then we hear the the one wish willow. Sound snap. Then it turns out she wishes for him to love her the same way she loves him as he made that wish. Things are going well, right? And then he overdoses, dies. She's about to shoot herself. She wakes up, she's like, what the fuck? And I love how she just tosses his body and she's like, What did you do? And then it ends. A the kind of upside down effect we see T V credits. What did you think of that entire ending that I just basically br breezed through? Yeah, that was a crazy ending. like when Ian walked in, immediately she f shoots him in the head like that was crazy. And then when Bear's trying to basically end his life, but he pussies out and he actually tries to throw up, you know, knowing that this would free her, he still decides, Nah, I'm not gonna do that. I'm not gonna kill myself. So, and then she finally makes that wish and you could see the change in his face of clearly you know, he's not the same anymore. He's in love with her as she is with him. And they start making out and he sti he dies. Yeah. That was all a good scene, I would say. Very cool. Such a profound thing coming out of Lou's mouth. I mean, it's a long podcast. I don't believe you. But I would say my jaw dropped throughout that whole movie. That whole sequence, my jaw dropped because I was like, Curry Barker's really going there. He's really going there. And then I thought he was gonna then I was like, no, he's gonna, he's gonna let Bear. Is he gonna let Bear get away with this? Is is is Bear gonna do the right thing? No. He doubles, triples down. It is so crazy. It is such a masterclass of being like commit to the Commit to the act as like with an actor, you want to commit to the bit, right? Well, that rhymed. And this is so brilliant while it being extremely horrifying and a scary. It's just like and then it then you double down, you're like, Bear was a piece of shit. Like you everything you thought about Bear was true. And then when Nikki is snapped back into reality, wow, that sounded like I was about to do the eight mile lose yourself. Then that sounded just like sat back to reality, right? she's just mortified. She sees what's going on, and then she's like, like, my heart sank. After like the initial shock of my jaw dropping, then I'm just like, the jaw will still drop. My heart sank. Cause I'm like, she's fucked. No matter what happens now, she's lost all of all of her close friends. And now she's probably going to jail. Like Bear destroyed every part of her life. But it's such a great ending because it leaves if you've never seen it before. Well even if you have, but really when you haven't seen before, like the first time I saw my I was like, What the fuck? And then I'll never forget this. As I was as the theater was I start I started to get up to leave, a guy was a guy stood up and he goes, You can clearly tell this is his first Latina and walked out. What the heck? What? Yes. And everyone started laughing, not because we thought he we were laughing because it was so like what? Like that was what you took from this? You know what I mean? Like that's Like crazy. Like and but yeah, it's just crazy ending and I think it just it was it was a a stellar beginning and then it's just a phenot phenomenal ending, even though it's under horrific conditions. Now, as we we're gonna we're doing the wrap up here, so that's what we're talking. We start I forgot to say that. This is the wrap up. So as we continue the wrap up, want to ask you a hypothetical question. What do you think happened to Nikki at the end? Like what are your th what is your interpretation of like what do you think happens to her after all this? She either went to jail or went to like a mental psychological institution. That's what I think, for sure. Yeah, I I know there's that theory, like she goes to Ian's house, finds the billion dollars, and like, you know, goes out, but it just doesn't fit the the the tone of the movie. True truth be told, she probably call she probably just sits her panics. It's possible that she either calls the police or takes off, she's still gonna be hunted. She could be in a a facility. I also think there's another caveat. She's so horrified by this whole experience. She could end just killing herself. Because I mean like she's been through enough. I mean I I wouldn't even I'm not saying that's the right thing to do. I would feel terrible if that was the way, but like no matter what option, is there any life for her? No. I j I so I don't think it was a happy ending at all for her. I think this is just the beginning of a new nightmare for her. Now here's the next question. Out of a hundred percent, what would you rate or what would you give obsession, I should say? out of a hundred percent, what do you give an obsession? Hmm Meh I think it's pretty high. I would probably give it Ninety eight. Ninety eight, yeah. All right. Yeah, I'm gonna go with ninety five. I love it. I love this movie because I think of how much it what it really it's really about the serious elements of this movie. It's just beautifully done through the comedic horror and horror aspects and all the storytime and the visuals, but it's it's really a really good debut. Okay. Because we're doing this on a award season movie series, I have to ask you this. I know you're not big into award season, but Ever since this movie's come out, Obsession, everyone's been talking about Andy Never Ready. And they should, because it's probably the best performance of the year. It's a b a breakout. It's a star making performance. Is everyone thinks that she sh is going to get nominated or she should be nominated? Everyone believes it because they think that this movie was just that it made a lot of money too. It made box office history. It's a huge profit. what do you think are the chances of obsession during award season? Do you think it'll get any nominations? Or is there some that You think it you would give it if if you had your way with award season? I'm not super familiar with awards season and stuff, but I would say I could see it being nominated. I could definitely see it being nominated. I don't know if Phil would win a hundred percent. Or you know, her what is it, like a best actress or something, right? Yeah, that's the one that's the one that most people are thinking is gonna go. They're gonna campaign for everything. They always every movie does this, but most likely Best Actress would be the the the one that everyone wants for Indian Never Ready for Obsession. Is that the one that you would go with? I could see her being nominated, but I I don't think she would win personally. Do you think she's worthy of a nomination? Yeah, I would say. I think she did really well. Yeah. Okay. So I think she is worthy of a nomination. I do think that if they I I would like to see them give it to her. But I'm gonna be honest. I'm I'm an award season expert, and here's my issues of why I don't think it'll happen. It came out in May. It's also it's very rarely that that Oscars award horror films of anything. Now you could say Sinners, but Sinners had horror aspects, but it was really a multi-genre type of film. It was a very landmark film. I mean, it tackled all kinds of of of serious things like obsession, but You also had Ryan Kugler, you know, a a director that everybody loves, who's just has not put out one bad film, in my opinion. You have Michael B. Jordan, who's just keeps getting better as an actor, and and just the subject matter of centers, and just it's it that is a masterpiece. So and also last year or this year, the Oscars gave Amy Madigan of Zack Kregger's Weapons, Aunt Gladys, they gave her the best supporting actress award. Now, here's why I don't think Obsession is going to get it, because it came out in May. They don't tend to reward horror films. Also, if they gave if they've awarded two films last year Oscars that have horror elements or horror films, let's think about this for a second here. Rami Malik won for Bohemian Rhapsody, the Queen Biopick. When Taryn when Taryn Egerton did Rocket Man, the better performance and the better movie for Elton John, they did not award him anything. They actually snubbed him at the Oscars. They did for the Golden Globes, but like I just don't see them doing it twice. Should she be nominated? Yes. Is she worthy of being nominee? Yes. I hope I'm proven wrong, and I hope she does get nominated, but I don't see unless it's a very weak Oscar race or award season race, I don't know. There's so many films coming out, and it's very unpredictable, but it's possible. I'll say that. And anything else? Hey, have you heard of the theory that That what is possessing her is the cat. Thank you for bringing this up. This I love when when the guests were like, Hey, you didn't talk about something. Yes, I've heard that theory, but like 'cause we didn't talk about the fact that he she made him lunch with the cat. That's disgusting. And then those photos that say they're not me. It is possible because she does love him unconditionally, like a p well cats are kind of interesting because they're like nocturnal, so she's up at night. But then she said it was nightmares too. Yeah, it it's possible that it's the cat, which is even it's even stranger. I can't even make the joke. I can't even do it. Do you know there's a joke that I yes. but no, it's possible, yeah, and and that would be even more concerning, right? Like if it's the cat. God, bro. Like Yeah, that'd be really freaky. Yeah, it we got fr you got freaky Nikki and you got freaking freaky catty too over here. Fr a freaky Sandy. Yeah, that that's a good theory. Do you believe it? I feel like there are some elements where I can actually see, like, okay, yeah, that is kind of weird and cat like, you know. Hanging out in the corner in the dark just staring at somebody and then some of the movements she makes, how obsessed she is with him, like a cat would be pissing on herself, like a cat would be if when they're upset or puking, you know. There's some elements where I'm like, Okay, that's possible. It's definitely possible. I'm glad you brought that up. It's definitely possible. And that wraps up It's a longer it's a long episode, but I I feel like this one needed to have a conversation. We only did like an eight minute intro for Lua and then we we decided for two hours and four minutes or however long this is, we're gonna talk about obsession. But yes, this wraps up obsession.
