ABOUT THIS EPISODE
When was the last time you made something just because it brought you joy? Not for a client, not for a deadline, not for an audience. Just for you.
Isabel Ely spent the first year of the Marketer Collaborative as Amy’s right hand. Now she coaches women from Southern California, cooks for retreats, and makes the case that play belongs on your calendar.
In this Power Lounge member episode, Amy Vaughan sits down with Isabel Ely, holistic health coach and private chef with Seasoned Soul Society, to talk about creativity and burnout. For women in digital juggling deadlines, clients and everyone else’s needs, creativity is usually the first thing to go. Isabel shares what disconnection actually sounds like, why she hates rigid wellness rules, how cooking for a room full of women builds trust, and what living in your natural rhythm looks like on a regular Tuesday afternoon.
Key takeaways
• Creativity is bigger than painting or writing. A walk without a podcast, a new recipe or simply listening to your breath all count.
• Disconnection often shows up as dropped hobbies. Not reading a book in three months can tell you more than any single symptom.
• Rigid rules push people away from their wellness goals. Education, flexibility and belief keep them going.
• Cycle syncing, the way Isabel teaches it, is information, not judgment: planning food, movement and your calendar around how you actually feel.
• One small step: find a calendar block that is not a requirement, take it off, and replace it with something that is just for you.
Quotes

00:00:00.000 --> 00:00:03.520
When was the last time you made something just because it brought you joy?
00:00:03.680 --> 00:00:08.000
Not for a client, not for a deadline, not for an audience, but just for you.
00:00:08.160 --> 00:00:12.560
And as women, oftentimes when you are busy, life is asking a lot of you.
00:00:12.960 --> 00:00:17.359
Things that are just for you are the first to go, always.
00:00:17.600 --> 00:00:21.199
Using your time for you is not selfish.
00:00:21.359 --> 00:00:25.120
Like this life that we live, like this is your life.
00:00:25.359 --> 00:00:26.800
Finish this sentence for me.
00:00:27.039 --> 00:00:30.480
Play is mandatory, my lifeline.
00:00:40.479 --> 00:00:43.200
Hello, everyone, and welcome to our weekly Power Lounge.
00:00:43.280 --> 00:00:47.039
This is your place to hear authentic conversations from those who have power to share.
00:00:47.280 --> 00:00:58.640
My name is Amy Vaughn, and I am the owner and chief empowerment officer of Together Digital, a diverse and collaborative community of women who work in digital and choose to share their knowledge, power, and connections.
00:00:58.880 --> 00:01:02.240
You can join the movement at TogetherIndigital.com.
00:01:02.479 --> 00:01:05.760
And today's episode continues our Power Lounge member series.
00:01:05.840 --> 00:01:08.640
And I want to start with one question for you all.
00:01:08.879 --> 00:01:12.560
When was the last time you made something just because it brought you joy?
00:01:12.719 --> 00:01:17.200
Not for a client, not for a deadline, not for an audience, but just for you.
00:01:17.359 --> 00:01:21.200
If you had to think about it, if you had to think about it, you're not alone.
00:01:21.359 --> 00:01:28.799
When our days revolve around deadlines, responsibilities, showing up for everyone else, the things that we love are often the first things that we set aside.
00:01:28.959 --> 00:01:32.560
Even creativity can start to feel like more of a deliverable.
00:01:32.719 --> 00:01:35.120
That's why I'm excited to welcome Isabel Ailey.
00:01:35.280 --> 00:01:43.439
She is uh one, hey, I know you guys can't see us if you're not on the podcast, but we're like so excited to be here together, and I'll explain more here in a minute.
00:01:43.680 --> 00:01:46.640
Um, but she, this one, because this one is personal for me.
00:01:46.799 --> 00:01:52.239
Um, when we opened the Marketer Collaborative, as many of you know, is now a co-working space in downtown Cincinnati.
00:01:52.400 --> 00:01:57.760
Isabel was my Gow Friday, my right-hand woman and honesty, honestly became my spirit daughter.
00:01:57.920 --> 00:02:02.159
Uh, for that entire first year, she was right there beside me, building something from the ground up.
00:02:02.319 --> 00:02:22.719
And today, Isabel has made a big leap to the other side of the country, coming to us from sunny California as a holistic health coach and private chef with Seasoned Soul Society, where she helps women reconnect with their bodies, their cycles, and their feminine energy through one-on-one coaching and her group program Flow Society, which you all need to check out.
00:02:23.039 --> 00:02:24.639
We have links in the show notes.
00:02:24.800 --> 00:02:30.639
Her approach is about building a life that moves with your natural rhythm instead of against it with no rigid rules.
00:02:30.800 --> 00:02:37.599
And when she's not coaching, Isabelle is in the kitchen cooking for retreats, wellness and events and gatherings.
00:02:37.759 --> 00:02:42.080
She brings creativity, love, and real playfulness to every table that she sets.
00:02:42.240 --> 00:02:43.599
I can speak to that firsthand.
00:02:43.759 --> 00:02:45.680
She always has like the best ideas for food.
00:02:45.759 --> 00:02:47.759
She can take anything and make it yum.
00:02:48.319 --> 00:02:52.479
That word, though, playfulness, is what today's conversation conversation is all about.
00:02:52.639 --> 00:02:56.879
Somewhere along the way, many of us filled filed creativity under optional.
00:02:57.039 --> 00:02:59.599
Isabel sees it as a way to get back to ourselves.
00:02:59.680 --> 00:03:09.919
So today we're going to talk about how stress and burnout leave us feeling disconnected and how creativity in play can really help us reconnect to bring back the things we love into everyday life.
00:03:10.159 --> 00:03:11.599
So good to see you, girlfriend.
00:03:11.840 --> 00:03:13.360
Welcome to the Power Lounge, Isabel.
00:03:14.479 --> 00:03:15.759
Thank you for having me.
00:03:15.919 --> 00:03:18.719
I'm so excited to be here on a different side.
00:03:18.960 --> 00:03:22.240
I've been there, you know, watching you, but it's fun to join.
00:03:22.560 --> 00:03:23.759
Yeah, absolutely.
00:03:23.840 --> 00:03:24.879
And you're gonna crush it.
00:03:24.960 --> 00:03:25.360
I know it.
00:03:25.439 --> 00:03:25.840
All right.
00:03:26.000 --> 00:03:28.639
So, as I mentioned to y'all, we have a history here, us too.
00:03:28.719 --> 00:03:29.520
So don't mind us.
00:03:29.599 --> 00:03:32.800
If we get a little weird and nerdy on you guys, you're just gonna have to deal with it.
00:03:32.960 --> 00:03:36.400
Um, but you were with me for that very first year of building the marketer collaborative.
00:03:36.479 --> 00:03:45.919
In fact, yesterday, so aligned, like we didn't do this on purpose, but yesterday was our one year uh of since we did our grand opening, um, which is amazing.
00:03:46.000 --> 00:03:47.360
Yeah, I don't know if you realize that or not.
00:03:47.439 --> 00:03:49.199
It was literally yesterday, and then we're doing this today.
00:03:49.360 --> 00:03:49.759
Perfect.
00:03:49.840 --> 00:03:50.879
It was meant to be.
00:03:51.120 --> 00:04:00.080
So, what did that season in particular teach you that you have now carried into this next chapter of your life with uh seasoned soul society?
00:04:00.400 --> 00:04:01.919
Yeah, so many things.
00:04:02.080 --> 00:04:05.439
I mean, starters, like it was a startup business.
00:04:05.759 --> 00:04:11.280
So being able to watch and be a part of that has taught me so much.
00:04:11.680 --> 00:04:32.079
And the community itself, like working for a community as the community manager, like obviously that is like the experience that I bring forth, like trying to grow a community of my own, a community of women who care about wellness, care about their bodies, and who feel like when someone says something, it isn't like, oh my god, I'm being crazy.
00:04:32.160 --> 00:04:35.600
It's like, oh my God, I feel you, I hear you, I see you.
00:04:35.759 --> 00:04:44.480
And being able to relate and bring together people who understand each other, that was the exact same mission in parallel.
00:04:44.720 --> 00:04:50.319
And even like working, you know, at the marketer with you invited me into Together Digital.
00:04:50.480 --> 00:05:01.519
And there's so many things I learned about like I built my website through Together Digital, and I might not have like even made one if I hadn't had help from Danelle.
00:05:01.759 --> 00:05:03.680
Respect to her, she's awesome.
00:05:04.000 --> 00:05:04.639
Yep.
00:05:05.199 --> 00:05:06.319
Hello to Danelle.
00:05:06.399 --> 00:05:10.319
She just did a masterclass, by the way, on uh creating website accessibility.
00:05:10.399 --> 00:05:13.279
So if you haven't watched that yet, friends, definitely go back and watch it.
00:05:13.360 --> 00:05:15.120
It's so good, so good, so informative.
00:05:15.199 --> 00:05:17.920
She's both her and Robbie wicked smart, all these women are.
00:05:18.000 --> 00:05:21.439
So I'm so glad that you got a lot out of it in the time with the group as well.
00:05:21.680 --> 00:05:26.560
All right, so you do two things that don't normally go together, I would say coaching and cooking.
00:05:26.800 --> 00:05:29.600
Which came first, and how did the other one find you?
00:05:29.839 --> 00:05:31.600
Yeah, it's like the chicken and the egg.
00:05:31.759 --> 00:05:34.399
Honestly, cooking has always been a thing.
00:05:34.560 --> 00:05:38.000
I think my parents are actually on here, so shout out to them.
00:05:38.319 --> 00:05:40.160
But we of course they are.
00:05:40.399 --> 00:05:41.839
Hi, mom and dad.
00:05:42.879 --> 00:05:46.079
We loved cooking um for me growing up.
00:05:46.319 --> 00:05:53.279
And we had, you know, if you guys are Cincinnati locals, like Jungle Gyms, that was our regular grocery store.
00:05:53.360 --> 00:05:55.759
So we would buy crazy stuff and make it.
00:05:56.000 --> 00:06:06.959
And I was an only child, love it or hate it, but I was like, like honestly, like always around them, learning how to do things and then doing them myself because if they weren't there, who was gonna do it?
00:06:07.040 --> 00:06:08.160
It was gonna be me.
00:06:08.480 --> 00:06:10.240
So I've always been cooking.
00:06:10.319 --> 00:06:13.839
That's like how I express my creativity, honestly.
00:06:14.160 --> 00:06:18.319
And it also is like the gateway into wellness for me.
00:06:18.480 --> 00:06:29.040
I care about how I feel my body, and I just learned like how to use it to like better myself, which led me to want to become a health coach.
00:06:29.199 --> 00:06:32.240
I really wanted to take my health coaching certification.
00:06:32.720 --> 00:06:39.279
And they say, you know, you can start a business or you can just use that information for yourself and move forward.
00:06:39.519 --> 00:06:49.279
I decided to start a business and I wanted to be a health coach, but that cooking, like that's a calling, and I had to figure out how to weave them together.
00:06:49.519 --> 00:06:59.600
And I found that when I cook for my community, I get to invite them into like why I do this, why I care about wellness, and that invites them into coaching.
00:07:00.480 --> 00:07:03.120
Food's a good way to bring people together.
00:07:04.079 --> 00:07:05.680
And food is medicine, right?
00:07:05.759 --> 00:07:06.800
Like it, you're so right.
00:07:06.879 --> 00:07:08.480
It definitely changes.
00:07:08.560 --> 00:07:14.319
And the older I get, you know, the more I realize the things that I put into my body make a huge difference.
00:07:14.639 --> 00:07:21.360
One glass of wine or a cocktail goes over very differently than it did when I was younger, or sugar, like carbs, all that kind of stuff.
00:07:21.519 --> 00:07:22.800
It definitely hits your body differently.
00:07:22.959 --> 00:07:26.319
And I'm sure you could say the same even for where you are in your cycle, right?
00:07:26.639 --> 00:07:26.959
Yes.
00:07:27.120 --> 00:07:27.519
Yeah.
00:07:27.839 --> 00:07:34.560
I love like the opportunity to teach anyone about like when you give them a meal, it's like, oh my God, this is amazing.
00:07:34.639 --> 00:07:35.199
What is this?
00:07:35.360 --> 00:07:37.759
I'm gonna tell you what it is and why we're eating it.
00:07:37.920 --> 00:07:49.120
And if I'm sitting with a table of women, like that's where I get the opportunity to talk about cycle syncing, like your nutrition to your phases, which if you're like, pause, let's like take a time out.
00:07:49.279 --> 00:07:50.240
What even is that?
00:07:50.399 --> 00:07:57.920
Cycle syncing is just understanding as a woman, you have four phases of your cycle, and there's different things that your body needs.
00:07:58.079 --> 00:07:59.279
Like, we are not the same.
00:07:59.600 --> 00:08:02.879
Men, they start over every day, 24-hour clock.
00:08:03.040 --> 00:08:04.959
Women, we have like a whole month.
00:08:05.199 --> 00:08:11.439
So if you're like, oh my gosh, I'm completely different this week from last week, you are hormonally, you are different.
00:08:11.600 --> 00:08:19.920
Your body wants different nutrients, your body wants to move differently and all of those pieces: movement, food, your emotions, your symptoms.
00:08:20.160 --> 00:08:23.519
If you take those all into account, that cycle sinking.
00:08:23.680 --> 00:08:27.839
So being able to say, like, well, this meal has, you know, a lot of magnesium.
00:08:28.000 --> 00:08:33.039
This would be really good for this time to help ease, you know, cramping, or maybe you're really sore.
00:08:33.679 --> 00:08:40.000
That is what I love to like teach when it's just like, I thought we were just sitting down eating food, but now you're gonna eat all TED Talk.
00:08:40.240 --> 00:08:40.960
I love it.
00:08:41.120 --> 00:08:44.559
That's and it's definitely your zone of genius in the space that you love to be in.
00:08:44.639 --> 00:08:48.559
And so that passion obviously comes through and that also draws people in.
00:08:48.799 --> 00:08:53.039
Let's talk a little bit though about the play and creativity of all of this, since that's today's theme.
00:08:53.200 --> 00:08:57.679
When a woman comes to you feeling disconnected from herself, what does that usually look at look like?
00:08:57.840 --> 00:09:00.480
And how would she normally describe it to you?
00:09:00.799 --> 00:09:07.679
Yeah, I think it's honestly the exact same as when you go to your friends and they're like, How you doing?
00:09:07.840 --> 00:09:10.080
And you're like, honestly, girl, I'm not good.
00:09:10.240 --> 00:09:16.799
Like, I'm tired or I'm frustrated, maybe I'm bloated, I'm not getting good sleep.
00:09:17.039 --> 00:09:22.480
Like all of those cues that like you know in your body are not your normal for you.
00:09:22.639 --> 00:09:28.960
Of like, I remember when I was working out and I love my workouts, now I don't really like them anymore.
00:09:29.200 --> 00:09:37.360
Or I love my children, but like all of a sudden everything I do is for them, or like just all those little things.
00:09:37.519 --> 00:10:00.320
Like when you don't feel connected to your body and what you actually love, if you're not doing your hobbies, like those kinds of things, like that's when you're disconnected, and that's like the clear sign of like we need to take a step back and like look at where we're spending our time, and like that's why I think creativity is so important because that's what I always draw it back to, because that's what people desire.
00:10:00.559 --> 00:10:05.840
Like, your hobbies lie there, your passions lie there, and that's really where you can connect.
00:10:05.919 --> 00:10:25.200
Like, yeah, no one wants to be bloated, but like bloated is common, but you know, it's not common, saying, like, I haven't read a book in three months, and I read like 12 books a year minimum, like those kinds of things where it's about you and you can really connect to that.
00:10:25.360 --> 00:10:26.960
That's what I always listen for.
00:10:27.200 --> 00:10:28.559
Yeah, that makes a lot of sense.
00:10:28.639 --> 00:10:30.799
And I'm sure those who are listening can really relate.
00:10:30.960 --> 00:10:36.559
There's like this sense of dissociation almost, where it's like you're just kind of like you're watching your life from the outside.
00:10:36.720 --> 00:10:47.519
And I've also described it as like living from the neck up, where it's like you're just so in your head and you're never in your body and you're never resting properly or finding a way to just learn how to relax.
00:10:47.679 --> 00:10:52.240
So yeah, I think a lot of people can um relate to what you're sharing.
00:10:52.559 --> 00:11:03.360
So, you know, in that, in that kind of along that thread, you know, a lot of us kind of, especially in this digital marketing and advertising space, we kind of file creativity.
00:11:03.440 --> 00:11:22.480
And when I say creativity, I want to make sure I'm making it clear that we're talking about creative for the sake of being creative, not for the sake of solving a problem, you know, helping somebody's business, painting a room, like true creativity just for the sake of creating something and kind of getting again out of your head and into your body.
00:11:22.720 --> 00:11:25.440
Um, but we've really kind of put that as optional.
00:11:25.600 --> 00:11:32.320
Why do you think that it's often the first thing that we let go of when stress and burnout take over?
00:11:32.399 --> 00:11:35.279
Like, why do we not turn to creativity despite?
00:11:35.360 --> 00:11:36.879
I mean, a lot of us love the data.
00:11:37.039 --> 00:11:43.440
There's so much data that shows creativity and expression are really great ways to combat that.
00:11:43.919 --> 00:11:56.960
Yeah, I think there's the two biggest factors of like if you are a woman, like a lot of times creativity falls under something that is only for you.
00:11:57.120 --> 00:12:01.679
And as women, oftentimes when you are busy, life is asking a lot of you.
00:12:02.080 --> 00:12:06.639
Things that are just for you are the first to go, always.
00:12:06.879 --> 00:12:16.879
It also creativity, like you think about it as that like childlike energy, that the things you loved when you were younger, it comes from an area that isn't.
00:12:17.039 --> 00:12:24.799
I mean, if you're like wonderfully skilled at like composing or drawing, and like that's your job, that's your life, like that's a little bit different.
00:12:24.879 --> 00:12:33.440
But like a lot of times, creativity comes from just that like inner playfulness that can be that more childlike personality.
00:12:33.679 --> 00:12:39.679
And like when you grow up, you have all these huge responsibilities, you're like, I don't have time for that anymore.
00:12:39.919 --> 00:12:44.320
So, those two, especially in this community, that's often both.
00:12:44.480 --> 00:12:46.480
You're feeling both of those.
00:12:46.799 --> 00:12:54.480
So when you have all of these things on your plate, you're saying, you know, I don't, this isn't a priority for me.
00:12:54.799 --> 00:13:15.200
But what you're not understanding is like those things, those small hobbies, the just like, you know, going on a walk and like not listening to a podcast or like running and listening to hardcore music, like maybe just looking at the flowers or just like listening and breathing, like when was the last time you just like listened to your breath?
00:13:15.279 --> 00:13:17.039
Like, even something simple like that.
00:13:17.120 --> 00:13:21.919
That's a really like abstract view of creativity.
00:13:22.159 --> 00:13:28.159
But then there's like the obvious of like, do you like to like paint or do you like to write?
00:13:28.320 --> 00:13:32.879
Maybe you love like poetry, like you love playing music.
00:13:33.039 --> 00:13:38.559
There's all these different aspects that are like immediately you view those as creativity.
00:13:38.799 --> 00:13:42.799
There's like a very large scale, and that's what I like to show people.
00:13:42.879 --> 00:13:51.440
Like, creativity is not just one thing, it's whatever makes you create and what makes your, you know, your left brain light up.
00:13:51.519 --> 00:13:59.840
Like, yeah, also the left side of your body, that's your feminine side, and also like that is like your creative brain as well.
00:14:00.000 --> 00:14:05.600
So I think innately women, you know, we express ourselves and we align a lot with creativity.
00:14:05.679 --> 00:14:12.879
So when you shut those out, you're really shutting out a lot of your own identity, whether you know, identify with that or not.
00:14:13.200 --> 00:14:14.399
Yeah, that's so true.
00:14:14.559 --> 00:14:15.519
It's so insightful.
00:14:15.759 --> 00:14:18.799
And I do think that perfectionism kind of comes into play there, right?
00:14:18.960 --> 00:14:20.639
People think that, oh, I'm not creative.
00:14:20.879 --> 00:14:23.200
The people that I've heard say that, like we are all creative.
00:14:23.519 --> 00:14:27.279
You can just lay down, look up the sky, and imagine animals in the clouds or something.
00:14:27.440 --> 00:14:31.519
Like there's everyone is creative in some fashion or some way.
00:14:31.919 --> 00:14:33.919
Like you said, it's just about finding that.
00:14:34.080 --> 00:14:36.320
Um, and yeah, Christy just dropped into the chat.
00:14:36.399 --> 00:14:40.080
She's like, we also feel guilty or selfish for making that time just for ourselves.
00:14:40.159 --> 00:14:48.320
So yeah, I think a time crunch and perfectionism and like the fact that we assume that creativity and play have to be perfect, it's it's such bullshit.
00:14:48.399 --> 00:14:50.879
It's like one of my favorite new activities.
00:14:51.039 --> 00:14:57.440
Um, I want a plug her for anybody who's listening from Cincinnati because it's another woman-owned business, and it's called Paint Playground.
00:14:57.840 --> 00:15:01.039
And you saw this because Isabel, because I took my kids there.
00:15:01.360 --> 00:15:12.480
And it you just go into a room and you put some canvases on the wall and you put on ponchos, and she has paint brushes, water guns, like all these different ways to just throw paint.
00:15:12.639 --> 00:15:18.799
And it's all about just letting it be messy, not making there be a process, and definitely not about perfectionism.
00:15:18.960 --> 00:15:27.600
And she's been getting not just families coming in, but groups of women who were really using it almost as like an art therapy experience to just have at the canvas.
00:15:27.759 --> 00:15:29.759
And I was like, that's such a great idea.
00:15:29.919 --> 00:15:31.919
And you don't need to go somewhere to do that.
00:15:32.080 --> 00:15:40.159
You could literally just go to the paint store or the craft store, grab a couple of things and be like, I don't even know what I'm gonna make, but I'm just gonna go at it and see what happens, you know.
00:15:40.320 --> 00:15:43.600
And it's such a fun thing to do, or those like paint and sip classes.
00:15:43.679 --> 00:15:45.519
I've seen people go like, I can't paint.
00:15:45.600 --> 00:15:50.000
And they go into those classes and they're so like just open and like here's some technique.
00:15:50.080 --> 00:15:56.159
And then people who who can't draw a smiley face so come up with some painting, and I'm like, dang, that's really cool.
00:15:56.480 --> 00:15:56.960
Yeah.
00:15:57.200 --> 00:15:59.039
I also love the paint room idea.
00:15:59.120 --> 00:16:01.840
I feel like it's like the female version of the rage room.
00:16:02.000 --> 00:16:02.399
Yeah.
00:16:02.559 --> 00:16:03.759
Oh, that's so true.
00:16:04.000 --> 00:16:08.000
And of course, like instead of breaking shit, we're like creating with our rage.
00:16:08.720 --> 00:16:09.519
I love it.
00:16:09.679 --> 00:16:11.840
It's very feminine of us of all.
00:16:12.159 --> 00:16:12.559
All right.
00:16:12.720 --> 00:16:23.039
So on that note of kind of things like paint throwing or even rage rooming, you know, um, your whole approach is built around no rigid rules, which is where most of the wellness world starts.
00:16:23.279 --> 00:16:26.960
Where would you, where you ever, were you ever?
00:16:27.120 --> 00:16:27.679
I can read.
00:16:27.919 --> 00:16:30.720
Were you ever on the rigid rule side yourself?
00:16:30.960 --> 00:16:32.639
I'm pretending like I don't know you already.
00:16:32.799 --> 00:16:34.720
And what changed your mind?
00:16:35.840 --> 00:16:36.879
It's so funny.
00:16:37.039 --> 00:16:44.799
Like, I always like I'll get asked like a question, and I'm like, I feel like there's such a dichotomy of myself.
00:16:44.960 --> 00:16:52.879
Like, if you guys know me, if you don't, like I am very OCD, very organized, very direct to the point.
00:16:53.039 --> 00:16:55.679
But then I'm also like, I need to do this and that.
00:16:55.759 --> 00:17:03.120
And I'm like very creative and spontaneous, and honestly, like the two like really fight against each other.
00:17:03.279 --> 00:17:07.039
But with rules, like I hate a rule.
00:17:07.200 --> 00:17:08.559
Like, I really hate it.
00:17:08.799 --> 00:17:17.359
I just like I don't like teaching other people rules because I know a lot of people like really get tied to that.
00:17:17.440 --> 00:17:20.880
Maybe like if you're tracking calories, a lot of people get like addicted.
00:17:21.039 --> 00:17:22.720
They're like, oh my gosh, I need to know this.
00:17:22.880 --> 00:17:25.519
Now this like really affects how I view my food.
00:17:25.759 --> 00:17:28.079
For me, I'm like, I'm not gonna do this.
00:17:28.160 --> 00:17:29.519
Like, I'm I'm over it.
00:17:29.680 --> 00:17:32.559
Like, I get really tired of stuff like that.
00:17:32.799 --> 00:17:41.680
So I have to kind of like make it a game or a lifestyle and like really educate myself on something because if I don't believe in something, I'm not doing it.
00:17:42.400 --> 00:17:47.680
So I would say, not really a rule person, but I have a rule personality.
00:17:48.000 --> 00:18:04.319
So I will honestly like educate myself on like what works best for my body, fully believe in it, like understand like what is this, why am I doing it, what are the benefits, honestly, to the point where like I can then teach it about other people.
00:18:04.480 --> 00:18:16.640
Obviously, I do that, but for people who don't, like it's the equivalent of like you're younger, you're studying for a test, and like if you can like ask someone else the questions and then like grade them, you know you're gonna get a good grade on the test.
00:18:16.799 --> 00:18:18.799
Like, that's how I view it, honestly.
00:18:19.039 --> 00:18:20.960
Yeah, that's smart, that's a good way to look at it.
00:18:21.119 --> 00:18:22.559
And yeah, that's what I was teasing you.
00:18:22.640 --> 00:18:26.960
I was like, well, I know the OCD, but I think it's what makes you good at what you do.
00:18:27.200 --> 00:18:39.680
And I think we're very similar in that way, where it's like we don't like hard and fast rules, we want flexibility over rigidity, but we love the process, you know, because we don't want to waste time and energy on the things that don't let us have fun and be creative.
00:18:39.759 --> 00:18:47.759
And that's where sometimes process clarity details are important, but it doesn't mean like rules are written there and stoned, and this is the way it always has to be.
00:18:47.839 --> 00:18:48.640
So I think that's again.
00:18:50.640 --> 00:18:56.400
Like, especially as a coach, like I can't be like, Amy, you're gonna have the exact same plan.
00:18:56.480 --> 00:18:59.759
You follow the same rules as Christy, my mom in the chat.
00:18:59.920 --> 00:19:01.599
Like, you guys are not the same people.
00:19:01.759 --> 00:19:06.160
Like, there's so much nuance to like showing people how to live, how to do things.
00:19:06.319 --> 00:19:08.960
And also, as women, we are not the same every day.
00:19:09.119 --> 00:19:17.920
I'm not gonna have you do this exact guideline when one day you're gonna far exceed that and one day you're really not.
00:19:18.079 --> 00:19:20.160
I want you to always believe in yourself.
00:19:20.319 --> 00:19:27.920
So I think oftentimes those rigid rules are what deter people from moving forward with their wellness goals.
00:19:28.240 --> 00:19:29.599
Yeah, that's fantastic.
00:19:29.759 --> 00:19:30.640
I love it.
00:19:31.119 --> 00:19:34.880
Um, and also um about the chat, please keep dropping the comments.
00:19:34.960 --> 00:19:36.880
We love hearing from you, live listening audience.
00:19:36.960 --> 00:19:42.799
And if you have questions, specific questions for Isabel that I'm not touching on, that's why we have you here listening with us live.
00:19:42.960 --> 00:19:46.640
Want to make sure that you guys get the most out of every guest we have here as our listeners.
00:19:46.880 --> 00:19:50.960
Um, you talk a lot, we've already talked a lot, actually, about feminine energy.
00:19:51.119 --> 00:19:55.519
So for the listeners who are maybe new to that idea, let's kind of come back to that for a second.
00:19:55.599 --> 00:19:59.599
And what does it mean to you and how does it connect maybe to creativity and play?
00:19:59.920 --> 00:20:02.240
Yes, this is my favorite question.
00:20:02.640 --> 00:20:08.640
I have a group coaching program called Flow Society, and we meet for eight weeks.
00:20:08.799 --> 00:20:15.759
And at the beginning, before anything, I always do a one-on-one session with each person coming in to understand where they are.
00:20:15.920 --> 00:20:17.440
How do they understand their cycle?
00:20:17.599 --> 00:20:18.720
Why are they here?
00:20:18.960 --> 00:20:22.960
And I always ask them define feminine energy for me.
00:20:23.119 --> 00:20:24.400
What does that mean for you?
00:20:24.559 --> 00:20:29.519
And I would say, you know, I have a lot of people in my community who are interested in the same things as me.
00:20:29.599 --> 00:20:34.240
They maybe have an answer and like have, you know, worked through this already.
00:20:34.559 --> 00:20:39.039
But you would be shocked about half the people are like, I don't know what that is.
00:20:39.200 --> 00:20:40.160
I can't define that.
00:20:40.319 --> 00:20:41.519
I don't know what you mean.
00:20:41.759 --> 00:20:42.799
Like nothing.
00:20:42.960 --> 00:20:44.480
And that is so common.
00:20:44.559 --> 00:20:48.400
And that like is really why I do what I do.
00:20:48.720 --> 00:20:58.960
Because as being a woman, I think it's very important to understand what you understand is what you teach others.
00:20:59.119 --> 00:21:06.319
And as a society, we have just been teaching each other that, you know, it's okay to say, Oh my god, I hate being a woman.
00:21:06.400 --> 00:21:08.160
It's so stressful, it's so hard.
00:21:08.319 --> 00:21:09.839
I hate having a cycle.
00:21:10.079 --> 00:21:12.160
I hate, you know, these expectations.
00:21:12.319 --> 00:21:18.400
Like, I understand it can be tiring, but to teach other women that is really hard.
00:21:18.559 --> 00:21:28.160
And you also shut down like the opportunity to understand, like, there is so much beauty in being a woman, in your femininity.
00:21:28.480 --> 00:21:33.599
And I think the most beautiful things are the creativity, the playfulness.
00:21:33.839 --> 00:21:46.079
A lot of people like to say, um, you know, the feminine is creation, playfulness, ideas, like all, you know, people who aren't looking like I'm moving my hands around in a spiral.
00:21:46.160 --> 00:21:52.720
Like, there's a lot flowing, and the masculine is the container in which holds feminine energy.
00:21:52.960 --> 00:21:58.640
We all have feminine and masculine energy within ourselves, but that also plays in dynamics.
00:21:58.720 --> 00:22:12.400
If you're in a relationship, If you have siblings, like co-workers, like it doesn't matter what relationship, but a lot of times, like we have all these ideas, and like the masculine has the structure in which how do we get there?
00:22:12.480 --> 00:22:13.519
How do we build?
00:22:14.079 --> 00:22:29.680
And uh I think you know it's also very important to understand that as women, we create life, we literally give birth to life, to new beings, and Mother Earth is the creation of life.
00:22:29.920 --> 00:22:37.599
So innately, like we are the creative beings, like we have the power to create, we are bringing forth that.
00:22:37.839 --> 00:22:58.319
And with everything you do, whether it's in business, whether you're literally birthing a child, you're birthing a project, like whatever you do is the creation, and that is really the most beautiful way of expressing your feminine energy of like this is my passion, this is what I care about, this is how I express myself, creativity, creativity, whatever.
00:22:58.400 --> 00:22:59.359
Y'all know what I'm saying.
00:22:59.519 --> 00:23:01.440
Creatively creatively, yeah.
00:23:02.079 --> 00:23:11.680
Like we just like that is how we move through life, and to dull that is really to dull our purpose, honestly.
00:23:12.319 --> 00:23:14.160
Yeah, that's such a good reminder.
00:23:14.400 --> 00:23:20.079
So, on that note, too, like for you, creatively speaking, feminine energy-wise speaking, cooking, right?
00:23:20.240 --> 00:23:23.519
And so you've been doing a lot of cooking for retreats and gatherings.
00:23:23.680 --> 00:23:30.240
How does feeding a room full of women teach you about them that coaching maybe alone wouldn't?
00:23:30.640 --> 00:23:36.000
And where does the playfulness come in when it comes to the making food for those retreats and gatherings?
00:23:36.640 --> 00:23:44.720
Yes, I would say when you that's this is kind of going back to the chicken and the egg of like I love cooking.
00:23:44.880 --> 00:23:50.000
This is how I share myself to others, this is how I give myself to others.
00:23:50.319 --> 00:24:01.680
So when you're in that space of like, I'm nourishing you, like I'm providing for you, like doesn't matter who you are, the you isn't you, the you isn't me, it's whoever.
00:24:01.839 --> 00:24:11.599
Like cooking for someone makes a bond of trust, of like you are supporting me, you are taking care of me.
00:24:12.000 --> 00:24:22.079
And you know, looking back, or if you are currently doing this like with your family, like sitting around eating at the dinner table, that's when you learn how was your day?
00:24:22.319 --> 00:24:23.119
How was work?
00:24:23.279 --> 00:24:24.400
How is school?
00:24:24.640 --> 00:24:26.400
What are you into these days?
00:24:26.559 --> 00:24:30.640
You know, you're sharing your life and like what really matters.
00:24:30.880 --> 00:24:35.039
And that's like the true bonding point for a lot of families.
00:24:35.200 --> 00:24:44.400
And I've noticed that a lot as like cooking at retreats, like when we're in circles learning, obviously there's very deep, important shares there.
00:24:44.720 --> 00:24:49.599
But when someone is like, hey, I'm like really hungry, can I have a snack?
00:24:49.759 --> 00:24:51.839
Like, can I come in here and get like a juice?
00:24:52.079 --> 00:25:02.960
Like, then they're just talking to me, like we're learning a lot of things, and like we're just having a natural conversation, or like sitting down at dinner, like, oh my gosh, you've been in there all day.
00:25:03.039 --> 00:25:03.680
How are you doing?
00:25:03.839 --> 00:25:04.559
Why do you do this?
00:25:04.640 --> 00:25:05.440
Where are you from?
00:25:05.599 --> 00:25:24.079
Like, you really get to know people on a level that is evil or sorry, level playing ground, not evil, level playing ground, and it's like very just like safe and comforting, and that's where those deep shares are.
00:25:24.319 --> 00:25:34.480
But to answer the other part of your question of like, yes, like this is my number one form of creativity, and I get so excited about food.
00:25:34.559 --> 00:25:40.000
Like, if I'm going on vacation, like I'm gonna pick somewhere that's you know, nice, pretty, something I like.
00:25:40.319 --> 00:25:42.960
First things I'm planning, where is breakfast?
00:25:43.119 --> 00:25:46.240
Where is lunch, dinner, like where are the gelato spots?
00:25:46.400 --> 00:25:55.920
Like, honestly, like that is what lights me up, and I get a lot of inspiration from you know, online or when I'm traveling, or just certain things.
00:25:56.079 --> 00:26:13.440
And it's really nice to like do the cycle syncing planning because it's like, oh, now I have something new again that I can focus on and sharing that with others of like knowing why I care so much, like just lights up that passion as well to like want to create for them.
00:26:14.160 --> 00:26:14.880
I love it.
00:26:14.960 --> 00:26:25.359
Yeah, you're just reminding me of all of the women in my family that cook for others and how much it means to us and to them to like sit down and enjoy their meal.
00:26:25.440 --> 00:26:45.119
And it's it's such a practice of mindfulness that we forget because we're trying to like run in a million different directions and we're trying to find like the quickest, easiest meals because we're trying to do it between practices and games and after schools and and whatnot, but to be able to just truly like spend some time cooking um for others and nourishing, like it's more than just the body, right?
00:26:45.200 --> 00:26:46.079
It's the mind and the soul.
00:26:46.240 --> 00:26:47.759
And I love that so much.
00:26:47.839 --> 00:26:48.880
That was such a good reminder.
00:26:48.960 --> 00:26:49.759
Thanks, Isabel.
00:26:50.319 --> 00:26:51.839
All right, let's get practical here.
00:26:52.000 --> 00:26:52.960
What does living?
00:26:53.039 --> 00:26:59.920
We're gonna kind of circle back to now that we're all plenty hungry, thinking about food and delicious food as well.
00:27:00.160 --> 00:27:05.440
Um, let's talk about what living in your natural rhythm actually looks like uh for a normal working week.
00:27:05.519 --> 00:27:10.480
So we're talking about kind of like the the flow kind of sinking and cycle sinking.
00:27:10.640 --> 00:27:14.400
Um, but like maybe not the theory, but like the Tuesday afternoon version.
00:27:14.559 --> 00:27:15.519
What does that look like?
00:27:15.920 --> 00:27:16.559
Yeah.
00:27:16.880 --> 00:27:18.400
So there's little things.
00:27:18.480 --> 00:27:25.039
It's your normal life, but you have more of a guide and more of an understanding and communication with yourself.
00:27:25.279 --> 00:27:29.119
So say you're new and you're at the grocery store.
00:27:29.279 --> 00:27:30.400
Maybe you have an app.
00:27:30.559 --> 00:27:32.720
I like Lively and 28.
00:27:32.799 --> 00:27:34.319
Those are both two really great apps.
00:27:34.559 --> 00:27:37.359
Maybe you're just looking at that, like, what should I be eating this week?
00:27:37.440 --> 00:27:39.519
Like, what nutrients does my body want?
00:27:39.680 --> 00:27:47.279
And it's gonna suggest, oh, hey girl, go order kale, get chickpeas, those kinds of things.
00:27:47.519 --> 00:27:50.240
And honestly, you can know why or not.
00:27:50.400 --> 00:27:54.960
Just go in and you know, start using that as an inspiration, a guy.
00:27:55.119 --> 00:27:57.920
That's how you start using nutrition.
00:27:58.160 --> 00:28:02.799
Maybe you're at the gym and you're like, oh my god, this feels so heavy.
00:28:02.960 --> 00:28:04.799
I can't even be bothered with this.
00:28:04.960 --> 00:28:07.200
Like, okay, why?
00:28:07.359 --> 00:28:09.839
Like, are we in our luteal or menstrual phase?
00:28:10.000 --> 00:28:13.680
Like, maybe naturally our body isn't wanting that right now.
00:28:13.920 --> 00:28:18.640
Lower reps, maybe some walking, swimming, things like that.
00:28:18.880 --> 00:28:38.160
Or if you're like in your ovulatory phase, like maybe that is when you're, you know, really repping things out, hitting your PRs, like understanding why it is really helps you like give yourself grace and like understand like what your body is doing, and that sets you up for success moving forward.
00:28:38.240 --> 00:28:43.920
Of like, next time I hear I'm here, like in this phase, that's how I felt.
00:28:44.079 --> 00:28:45.759
I can base that off of this.
00:28:46.079 --> 00:28:57.519
For me personally, that shows up a lot for emotions to like understand like oh my god, if you ever say to a woman, you just must be PMSing.
00:28:58.000 --> 00:28:58.400
Mm-mm.
00:28:58.880 --> 00:29:01.279
No, like maybe don't ever talk to me again.
00:29:01.440 --> 00:29:04.000
Like, that's that's just so bad to say.
00:29:04.480 --> 00:29:12.480
Because you're teaching someone that, like, this time of the month, every single month, that they're not safe to be around you.
00:29:12.720 --> 00:29:16.960
And maybe they just need support or they need a different communication pattern.
00:29:17.119 --> 00:29:31.359
Like, cycle syncing, living in your natural rhythm is being able to understand where you're at, set yourself up for success so that you can like move forward preventatively, understand maybe how should I move my body?
00:29:31.519 --> 00:29:36.240
Should I schedule this like cycle bar class or should I like ask my friend to go on a walk?
00:29:36.480 --> 00:29:39.119
Should I eat this meal prep or that meal prep?
00:29:39.200 --> 00:29:42.720
Or should I take a bath or should I like go out with the girls?
00:29:42.880 --> 00:29:50.160
It's really just understanding like, is my calendar working for me so that this Tuesday looks like the Tuesday it should.
00:29:50.400 --> 00:29:50.960
I love it.
00:29:51.119 --> 00:29:51.680
Great answer.
00:29:51.759 --> 00:29:53.200
It's almost like cycle hacking, right?
00:29:53.279 --> 00:29:57.839
It's like making the most of every phase because no phase is bad, they're just different.
00:29:58.079 --> 00:30:06.480
And when you know to listen to your body, I think the the exercise one is such a good example because you know, I'm friends with a lot of guys and they're like, oh, what's your split today?
00:30:06.559 --> 00:30:07.359
And it's like, you know what?
00:30:07.519 --> 00:30:09.440
I can't, and I don't want to lift every day.
00:30:09.599 --> 00:30:12.079
Like my body needs different things at different times.
00:30:12.240 --> 00:30:14.799
Because, and that's another thing I want to point out, fellas.
00:30:14.960 --> 00:30:24.400
I mean, I know if your dad's listening here and he knows this, but any guys that are listening, like, yeah, let's stop, let's stop um stigmatizing women in their month-long cycle.
00:30:24.480 --> 00:30:27.440
You literally go through basically a period in one day.
00:30:27.680 --> 00:30:31.200
You're saying, like, like their hormone levels, and I'm gesturing with my hands.
00:30:31.279 --> 00:30:41.279
So sorry if you guys aren't obviously seeing this, but like women's cycles, like your hormones come up and then they stay level, and then they start to like your estrogen starts to go down, right?
00:30:41.440 --> 00:30:44.079
Guys, it's up and down every day, up and down.
00:30:44.160 --> 00:30:48.000
And then you're saying we're the overly emotional ones driven by hormones.
00:30:48.240 --> 00:30:57.759
Actually, from a hormone like level standpoint, we're cycling through less hormones on a monthly, daily average than men.
00:30:58.400 --> 00:31:02.240
But somehow we just, you know, the stigma all comes back to us.
00:31:02.319 --> 00:31:03.599
But it's it's all information.
00:31:03.680 --> 00:31:04.720
It's not judgment, right?
00:31:04.799 --> 00:31:05.599
It's information.
00:31:06.799 --> 00:31:14.400
For the ladies that are that are listening who feel like they have no time for creativity um to create anything uh just for themselves.
00:31:14.640 --> 00:31:17.440
What is one small step that you could maybe take this week?
00:31:17.759 --> 00:31:19.839
Yeah, I would say take a look.
00:31:20.000 --> 00:31:25.839
I know, you know, if you're a busy woman, like Google Calendar, whatever it is, maybe use Outlook.
00:31:25.920 --> 00:31:28.720
Like, I know that is your lifeline.
00:31:29.119 --> 00:31:30.880
So take a look, what's on there?
00:31:31.039 --> 00:31:34.640
Is there something that like isn't a requirement?
00:31:34.799 --> 00:31:40.400
You don't absolutely have to do it, but you're like, you know, I'm not sure if I want to do this.
00:31:40.559 --> 00:31:41.440
Take it off.
00:31:41.680 --> 00:31:42.480
Take it off.
00:31:42.720 --> 00:31:49.680
And replace that block with a walk, with reading a book, maybe a paint by number.
00:31:49.759 --> 00:31:51.200
Like, what are your hobbies?
00:31:51.359 --> 00:31:56.880
What's your way of expressing yourself creativity that you have not done?
00:31:57.200 --> 00:31:58.000
Bring it back.
00:31:58.079 --> 00:32:03.359
Like it's so simple of like using your time for you is not selfish.
00:32:03.599 --> 00:32:07.440
Like this life that we live, like this is your life.
00:32:07.519 --> 00:32:17.359
And I understand if you have a partner, if you have kids, you have a business, like you do have responsibilities, but you have a responsibility to yourself as well.
00:32:17.519 --> 00:32:19.599
And I think that's really important to remember.
00:32:20.640 --> 00:32:21.680
Yeah, I think that's brilliant.
00:32:21.839 --> 00:32:23.359
Olivia just added that in the chat too.
00:32:23.519 --> 00:32:24.400
Hi, Olivia.
00:32:24.640 --> 00:32:26.720
Um, another Isabelle fan.
00:32:26.960 --> 00:32:28.480
We're there's so many of us here.
00:32:28.640 --> 00:32:33.039
Um, adding your cycle to a Google Calendar is it is it's genius.
00:32:33.119 --> 00:32:36.000
That's so spot on because that's going to help you to take advantage of.
00:32:36.160 --> 00:32:43.599
Because we had like, I mean, it was probably during the pandemic, we had someone else on who talked about single cycle cycle sinking.
00:32:43.839 --> 00:32:45.279
Uh yay, Friday.
00:32:45.519 --> 00:32:57.200
And um, she was talking about that from a productivity standpoint, how to really hack it and get the most out of like know what weeks to pack things in to get shit done and know what weeks to just let off the gas a little bit.
00:32:57.440 --> 00:33:00.319
So it's brilliant, brilliant, brilliant, brilliant.
00:33:00.480 --> 00:33:01.599
I love it so much.
00:33:01.759 --> 00:33:03.759
Um, and then gosh, I love this chat.
00:33:03.839 --> 00:33:04.480
It's popping.
00:33:04.559 --> 00:33:05.200
Look at you guys.
00:33:05.279 --> 00:33:07.519
And there's Morgan, Emily.
00:33:08.000 --> 00:33:10.319
Yay! Oh, it's so cute.
00:33:10.559 --> 00:33:17.279
Um, but yeah, it's like your mom just brought up the fact that like period blood is healing, it's like great for stem cells and stem cell research.
00:33:17.359 --> 00:33:20.240
And then Isabel just added it, it can even make your plants grow.
00:33:20.319 --> 00:33:21.359
That's insane.
00:33:21.680 --> 00:33:22.960
Yeah, that's just crazy.
00:33:23.119 --> 00:33:25.759
I'm in like a group coaching program.
00:33:26.240 --> 00:33:28.640
Um, this is one that I'm actually a client in.
00:33:28.880 --> 00:33:34.640
And one of the girls in the chat the other day was like, which uh, you know, this is borderline woo.
00:33:34.720 --> 00:33:37.920
If you're you know not into that, whatever, maybe get into it.
00:33:38.000 --> 00:33:39.200
It's so awesome.
00:33:39.680 --> 00:33:50.799
But there's like research that if you feed your period blood to the earth, like it will grow, it will replenish, it's giving back to the earth, whatever, you know.
00:33:51.039 --> 00:33:58.960
She's been like uh dumping her blood in her plants, and she's like, my plant that was dying is thriving.
00:33:59.200 --> 00:34:05.920
Like she's like, My plants have never looked this good in their entire life, and she's like been doing it for like four weeks, which is insane.
00:34:06.319 --> 00:34:10.639
That is so wild, but it kind of also makes sense, right?
00:34:10.719 --> 00:34:16.320
Because they talk about like afterbirth and placenta and things like that being so nutrient, like valuable and things like that.
00:34:16.480 --> 00:34:19.280
Like our bodies are meant to go back to the earth.
00:34:19.519 --> 00:34:21.039
That's all there is to it, right?
00:34:21.280 --> 00:34:26.000
The soil, everything below us is all made up of things that have died before us, you know?
00:34:26.079 --> 00:34:28.559
So yeah, it all goes back, it's all one big cycle.
00:34:28.800 --> 00:34:30.079
Ugh, so cool.
00:34:30.400 --> 00:34:30.880
All right.
00:34:31.119 --> 00:34:36.480
Looking ahead, what do you want Season Soul Society to become in the next few years?
00:34:36.719 --> 00:34:42.159
And what are you making right now in the kitchen or anywhere else that has nothing to do with business?
00:34:43.360 --> 00:34:47.039
So honestly, just moved across the country.
00:34:47.119 --> 00:34:53.920
For anyone who doesn't know, I lived in Cincinnati, Ohio, and I just moved to Southern California.
00:34:54.239 --> 00:34:58.559
So for me, that would look like building my wellness community here.
00:34:58.800 --> 00:35:08.480
Obviously, never leaving behind my people, but there's always room for more to understand, you know, who can I work with here?
00:35:08.559 --> 00:35:10.000
Like who's having retreats?
00:35:10.079 --> 00:35:18.079
Like, I'd love to be cooking at more retreats over here, finding clients over here, but also learning from people over here.
00:35:18.320 --> 00:35:21.920
Why did I move here for the food and the wellness scene?
00:35:22.159 --> 00:35:34.800
So there's a lot to learn and there's a lot to be embraced in, and honestly, just to like use that to gain more skills and put that right back into my business and my community is the goal here.
00:35:34.880 --> 00:35:40.639
So just building upon the foundation that I've already built is the goal.
00:35:40.960 --> 00:35:44.960
And I am actually a chef at a cafe over here right now.
00:35:45.199 --> 00:35:53.280
So a lot of the time I'm in the kitchen is there, and it's been really fun to get like creative with like what we have.
00:35:53.360 --> 00:36:08.159
We have a menu, obviously, but then people will come in on break, like, okay, like I want this, you know, our rosemary facaccia, I want that sandwich, you know, it's easy to order, but then they're like, Oh, wait, I saw that you made this like on your lunch break.
00:36:08.239 --> 00:36:08.960
Like, what is that?
00:36:09.039 --> 00:36:19.840
And I'm like, let me tell you, be playful with it, like having fun has definitely brought back like that spark for cooking for myself.
00:36:20.079 --> 00:36:25.760
And I think also all the food here, like, oh my gosh, I've been trying so many new things.
00:36:25.920 --> 00:36:37.679
Yeah, and I've definitely been making food that maybe makes me uncomfortable or like is a different culture to like just be you know more well-rounded.
00:36:37.920 --> 00:36:43.920
Something crazy that I, you know, I can't say that I'm the biggest fan, but I I just love to push myself.
00:36:44.079 --> 00:36:49.199
I made like a sardine like pasta, okay, and it was actually pretty good.
00:36:49.280 --> 00:36:51.840
But like, you know, I can't say I'm gonna do that all the time.
00:36:52.239 --> 00:36:52.480
Right.
00:36:52.800 --> 00:37:02.159
I love just like doing random stuff because to me, like that is being playful, like that is trying new things, like that's really important for me as a person.
00:37:02.320 --> 00:37:10.239
Like, whether like I'm gonna like insanely love it or not, I'm always gonna try it because I love to grow in no matter what I'm doing.
00:37:10.800 --> 00:37:12.000
Yeah, I love it.
00:37:12.159 --> 00:37:23.679
And again, like kudos to you, kiddo, for like getting in your car, driving across the country with Opal, like doing it with like a plan in mind, but not rigid about it.
00:37:23.760 --> 00:37:26.800
Again, it's like this whole process, like you're just betting on yourself.
00:37:26.960 --> 00:37:31.039
And again, kudos to Christy and Randy, mom and dad, for being so encouraged.
00:37:31.199 --> 00:37:32.400
I know this hasn't been easy for them either.
00:37:32.480 --> 00:37:38.079
We all miss you a ton, but we're so proud to see you taking this leap and betting on yourself.
00:37:38.159 --> 00:37:45.599
And I hope that those who are listening, like, if you don't like vibe with any of the wellness stuff, like at least take that away.
00:37:45.840 --> 00:37:51.760
That, you know, with the right people and support around you, like, gosh, like you could go so far.
00:37:51.840 --> 00:37:58.480
So whether you need that support or you want to be that support for somebody, you know, community, family, all of that makes such a big difference.
00:37:58.639 --> 00:38:00.800
Cause even though you're across the country, like you're not alone.
00:38:00.880 --> 00:38:02.559
We're all with you, we're already checking on you.
00:38:02.719 --> 00:38:06.159
Gosh, even Deb, our cleaner here, is constantly talking and asking you.
00:38:07.840 --> 00:38:08.880
Oh, I love it.
00:38:09.039 --> 00:38:10.320
That makes me so happy.
00:38:10.480 --> 00:38:11.679
It makes me so happy.
00:38:11.920 --> 00:38:14.000
So, yeah, we're all here behind you.
00:38:14.239 --> 00:38:17.199
Um, so yeah, okay, let's get to our power round questions.
00:38:17.280 --> 00:38:21.599
And then, friends in the chat, if you have a specific question for Isabel, please let me know.
00:38:21.679 --> 00:38:23.679
We'll make sure we get to it before we wrap up here.
00:38:23.920 --> 00:38:27.360
But for the power round, these are kind of rapid fire questions.
00:38:27.519 --> 00:38:32.000
Um, what is uh something that you like to cook when you're cooking for just yourself?
00:38:32.400 --> 00:38:34.559
Oh, I love anything seafood.
00:38:34.639 --> 00:38:35.840
I think it's so playful.
00:38:36.000 --> 00:38:42.159
So, like uh like a pasta à la vanguet, like with like clams, mussels, anything like that.
00:38:42.320 --> 00:38:42.880
I love it.
00:38:43.280 --> 00:38:44.400
Nice and I like it.
00:38:44.559 --> 00:38:46.400
Well, you're in the right place for all that.
00:38:47.920 --> 00:38:52.639
One creative hobby that you would pick up tomorrow if time didn't matter.
00:38:53.840 --> 00:38:56.719
Maybe like surfing, like being here.
00:38:57.039 --> 00:39:02.559
Like that would take a lot of time for me because I need to be very careful.
00:39:02.800 --> 00:39:05.599
I, you know, I got some joint pain, y'all.
00:39:05.920 --> 00:39:11.199
Uh so I would have to be really easy on myself, but that would be so cool, like to be doing that here.
00:39:11.440 --> 00:39:12.880
I could see you being a surfer girl.
00:39:13.039 --> 00:39:14.480
Surfer girl slash mermaid.
00:39:14.559 --> 00:39:16.159
It's in your future, it's in the universe now.
00:39:16.320 --> 00:39:17.039
It's gonna happen.
00:39:17.199 --> 00:39:18.159
I love it.
00:39:19.360 --> 00:39:20.960
Finish this sentence for me.
00:39:21.199 --> 00:39:24.639
Play is mandatory, my lifeline.
00:39:24.880 --> 00:39:26.000
Oh, I love it.
00:39:26.239 --> 00:39:27.199
Good answer.
00:39:27.519 --> 00:39:28.639
Your favorite memory.
00:39:28.719 --> 00:39:30.559
Oh, I've I forgot I wrote this one.
00:39:30.960 --> 00:39:36.239
Oh, your favorite memory, if you had to pick just one from your first year here at the MC with us.
00:39:36.480 --> 00:39:37.599
Oh my god.
00:39:38.320 --> 00:39:46.639
Honestly, like when I was thinking about these, the first thing that always comes to mind when people ask about like the craziest, the best, the most awesome, yeah.
00:39:46.960 --> 00:39:56.639
First week of work being asked to feel like an eight foot, 800-pound bronze lion into the main lobby.
00:39:56.719 --> 00:39:57.840
So seriously, too.
00:39:58.079 --> 00:40:00.719
Hey, Isabel, uh, this is something I need you to do.
00:40:00.960 --> 00:40:05.360
Our wonderful building owner King Jim.
00:40:06.639 --> 00:40:07.840
That was hilarious.
00:40:08.000 --> 00:40:09.599
That was definitely my best memory.
00:40:09.679 --> 00:40:11.360
And it came during Christmas time.
00:40:11.440 --> 00:40:12.079
It was snowing.
00:40:12.159 --> 00:40:13.360
It was literally like Christmas Day.
00:40:13.519 --> 00:40:14.239
It was insane.
00:40:14.559 --> 00:40:15.280
It was perfect.
00:40:15.440 --> 00:40:18.320
It was like the first or the second day of December, I feel like.
00:40:18.400 --> 00:40:20.000
And so it was like an early snow.
00:40:20.239 --> 00:40:24.000
And Jim being out there with his little scarf on, looking like a kid on Christmas.
00:40:24.079 --> 00:40:26.079
Yeah, it was amazing miracle.
00:40:26.239 --> 00:40:26.719
Oh my gosh.
00:40:27.519 --> 00:40:28.639
That was hilarious.
00:40:28.719 --> 00:40:32.320
And what an amazing, like, first challenge to be given.
00:40:32.400 --> 00:40:34.880
And you just went straight for it, girl, and you figured it out.
00:40:34.960 --> 00:40:35.760
And it wasn't easy.
00:40:36.000 --> 00:40:38.320
I had to call so many people crazy.
00:40:38.639 --> 00:40:40.559
And they were like, is it ever gonna actually get here?
00:40:40.719 --> 00:40:41.519
We don't know.
00:40:42.400 --> 00:40:43.760
But Felix is doing well.
00:40:43.920 --> 00:40:46.559
He is still the darling of the MC.
00:40:46.719 --> 00:40:48.719
He gets lots of selfies with folks.
00:40:48.960 --> 00:40:53.280
Um, and so yeah, yeah, it was definitely worth the effort because um it's paid off.
00:40:53.360 --> 00:40:59.920
You know, we had hundreds of people here last week coming through the space, and I would look up and there'd be people taking selfies with him all the time.
00:41:00.159 --> 00:41:01.599
He's a good photo op for sure.
00:41:01.920 --> 00:41:03.039
Well done.
00:41:03.440 --> 00:41:07.199
Oh, I wish we could hang out for longer, but we're gonna do a call and catch up soon.
00:41:07.360 --> 00:41:12.000
But it's so good to see so many of you in the chat joining us today to support our gal Isabel.
00:41:12.239 --> 00:41:14.400
Thank you so much for coming and listening.
00:41:14.559 --> 00:41:18.079
And it means a lot, Isabel, to watch you build something that's so completely yours.
00:41:18.159 --> 00:41:21.280
And I know our community will walk away with a little bit to more today.
00:41:21.440 --> 00:41:29.599
Um, hopefully learning to make more room for joy for themselves, bet on themselves, take that risk, play creative, no matter how big or small that is.
00:41:29.760 --> 00:41:35.599
And to our listeners, just a quick note today's conversation is about well-being and creativity, not medical advice.
00:41:35.760 --> 00:41:40.719
Um, so be sure that you talk with your healthcare provider about anything specific to you.
00:41:40.960 --> 00:41:43.280
Um, just gotta make sure we watch out for that kind of stuff.
00:41:43.360 --> 00:41:44.719
I don't need lawyers coming after me.
00:41:44.880 --> 00:41:52.880
But you can connect with Isabel on LinkedIn and learn more about her coaching, uh, Flow Society and private chef services at uh her season soul society website.
00:41:53.039 --> 00:41:54.320
Again, all that'll be included.
00:41:54.400 --> 00:41:56.719
Uh, links in the show notes.
00:41:56.880 --> 00:42:02.079
And then if today's conversation sparks something for you, uh, keep coming and listen along.
00:42:02.320 --> 00:42:06.320
Follow, like, and subscribe, as my kids always say, right?
00:42:06.639 --> 00:42:20.079
Um, and then Together Digital, you know, if you want a collaborative community of women that are going to support you through all chapters, transitions, changes, and crazy things that you might just decide to go out and do and make happen and real, this is definitely the community for you.
00:42:20.239 --> 00:42:24.159
So be sure to check us out on YouTube and anywhere else you can listen to podcasts.
00:42:24.239 --> 00:42:25.199
That's where we'll be.
00:42:25.440 --> 00:42:27.119
Isabel, thanks again, hon.
00:42:27.199 --> 00:42:28.000
It was good to see your face.
00:42:28.719 --> 00:42:29.440
Miss you so much.
00:42:29.519 --> 00:42:30.559
Thanks for having me.
00:42:30.800 --> 00:42:31.920
All right, everyone.
00:42:32.079 --> 00:42:34.800
Have a great rest of your Friday, and we'll see you next time.
00:42:34.880 --> 00:42:37.679
Until then, keep asking, keep giving, and keep growing.
00:42:37.840 --> 00:42:38.559
Bye now.
00:42:38.880 --> 00:42:39.280
Bye.
00:42:48.719 --> 00:42:50.880
Produced by Heartcast Media.
