ABOUT THIS EPISODE
Today Bonnie joins me, and we both have so much fun and get on our “soap box” about pricing and professionalism in the industry. AI wrote the following and I loved it so much I wanted to share, so here is what AI got out of this episode:
Peggy's on a mission to transform and raise the bar for professional photography into something way beyond just snapping photos. You probably already know she's all about pushing the limits, injecting a sense of passion and purpose into every shot. It's not just her, though - Bonnie's right there with her, in agreement. They're a dynamic duo when it comes to the business side of things, hammering home the point that photographers need to value their work and pointing out how lowballing fees hurts not just individual photographers but the entire industry.
Peggy makes another point: Being a decent human being is crucial in this game. It's like your personality becomes part of your portfolio, influencing every interaction and every career opportunity. And Bonnie, clearly being the practical one, chimes in with advice for the newbies. "Educate yourself, create a style that's unmistakably you, and understand the nitty-gritty of the business."
Their message is clear: Be more than a photographer. Be an artist, a savvy businessperson, a learner, and above all, a decent human being. It's a mix of passion, professionalism, and personality that sets you apart in the world of photography.
You need to know Bonnie: started her photography business in 2015, focused on maternity, families, and newborns. She also created a US portrait photographer directory 2 years ago called Happily Ever Photo, which requires all listed photographers to be profitably-priced. She lives in Nebraska with her husband and two children and spends her days dreaming of the mountains.
