Speaker 1: It's camp.
00:00:00
Speaker 2: I am sixty and you're listening to the Conway Show on demand on the iHeartRadio app.
00:00:08
Speaker 1: Homeless camping bands are being lifted. Thank god, I'm more places for homeless guys and gals to slide into the park. Get the kids out of there. Why should the kids use the park? It should be for you know, grown adults who have said no to housing for the most part. And LA for a long time had banned homeless camps under freeways, near schools and in parks, and now they've reversed it, which is fantastic news. If you live in Burbank or Glendale or West Hollywood, there's another one. Santa Monica, you know, Inglewood, you know all these cities that are not part of the City of La. These homeless people are now being welcomed back into the City of La. So they're going to be leaving Burbank, Glendale, Pasadena, Arcadia, West Hollywood and they'll be going home again. They're going home.
00:01:14
Speaker 3: I wonder if I could find my old tree.
00:01:16
Speaker 1: Yeah, maybe right, that would be interesting. We should do a video looking for you know, Crozier's tree. Do you remember where it was in that park? Because I overlooked that park for a while. I lived in an apartment for two years overlooking that park.
00:01:29
Speaker 4: There is in the I want to say, southernmost corner.
00:01:33
Speaker 1: Of the park there is a like a were you're near the seven eleven.
00:01:39
Speaker 3: I don't remember being near a seven eleven though. There wasn't really anything there.
00:01:41
Speaker 4: It was kind of like the backside of businesses and then the freeway on the other side of me. But there was there was a building. There was a structure. I don't know if it was like like a brick building for like bathrooms or like some sort of community set, but it was something small like that that the tree was right beside, and it was the bottom end of that park.
00:01:57
Speaker 1: It was the library. There is library is probably north for you.
00:02:00
Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't remember, so.
00:02:02
Speaker 1: I know where you were. You were down near where that's seven. There's there's a Starbucks down in that south entrance to that park, and that's probably where it was. But that'd be interesting to find your tree. Krozier when he moved out to la he was homeless for how long? Three months May to October. Oh, are this a whole summer?
00:02:21
Speaker 3: Yeah? Oh yeah, wow, whole summer? Yeah. In my car.
00:02:24
Speaker 5: Any chance you carved your initials in the tree, that would really.
00:02:29
Speaker 3: Never been a good idea.
00:02:30
Speaker 1: No, And how comfortable could you have been? It couldn't have been, you know, r E M.
00:02:35
Speaker 4: Well the first the first night, it was like I was really unsure about the area. So yes, I climbed up in the tree and I was sleeping on a branch on the tree that was too nice. And then after that there was a there was a picnic bench there, one of those one piece picnic bench you know in the tabletop as well the concrete ones, And so I sat there and I literally just put my head down on my arms to sleep. And I don't know what time of the night it was, but some cops had pulled up onto the grass and driven right up to where the picnic best and shine their lights on me.
00:03:05
Speaker 1: And they hale you.
00:03:06
Speaker 4: Yeah, they said, hey, what are you doing out here? And in my half sleep days, I was like, oh, I'm waiting for my car to get fixed.
00:03:12
Speaker 3: It's over here, like a couple of blocks away. And they looked at me and they went, all right, be careful. They got back in the car.
00:03:18
Speaker 6: Wow.
00:03:18
Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, I wish i'd known you back then buddy, you could have come over to my house. I could have given you a blanket and a ride back to the tree. Well, thank you very much. All right, but anyway, we are back with homeless. They are now camping again in the in the parks of Los Angeles.
00:03:39
Speaker 7: Some of these no camping zones have been in place for about five years, and now they're being removed.
00:03:44
Speaker 4: I want the city that I grew up in, where you didn't need.
00:03:48
Speaker 8: Forty one eighteen A major decision at LA City Hall ten nights three knows, the council voting to end a dozen forty one eighteen no camping zones across Hollywood, Silver Lake and Echo Park.
00:03:59
Speaker 1: All right, your homeless, this is where you're gonna be welcomed again. Got your map out.
00:04:03
Speaker 7: Happing zones across Hollywood, Silver Lake and Echo Park.
00:04:07
Speaker 1: Okay, that's where they're going to welcome you back with open arms. So get on the RTD or Metro as they call it nowadays, and get back to your home. Your park is open again. Get a good spot. You know, there's me a lot of fighting for prime spots at the park. You want to get there early, and the cops aren't going to hassle you anymore in Hollywood's hollywoods Silver Lake, Silver Lake, and Echo Park. Congratulations.
00:04:34
Speaker 9: As far as I know, I don't think I've ever heard of a forty one eighteen zone being removed.
00:04:38
Speaker 7: The motion from District thirteen council member Hugo Soda Martinez passed in a ten to three vote.
00:04:43
Speaker 10: When I put up a forty one eighteen to protect the parks and to protect kids, it's for a reason.
00:04:48
Speaker 7: One of those no votes District six councilwoman Samelda Padilla.
00:04:52
Speaker 1: Yeah, Imelda Padilla's got a head on her shoulders, but she's being worked by these by the rest of the council.
00:04:59
Speaker 10: La Well, I think forty one eighteen is one of those tools that we need. I have asked for some forty one eighteens in my district. He generally votes, know, so I saw this as one of those days where you know, treat your colleagues as you wish to be treated.
00:05:13
Speaker 7: This is one of the twelve spots that the counsel member is resenting. It looks like there's already people camping here.
00:05:18
Speaker 1: Oh yeah, no, they've already they're coming back. We're coming home, We're coming home. The world needs a home. You know, you got to get there early. The best spots are going to be gone by this weekend. If you're homeless. You've got to get back to those parks tonight. Leave Burbank. We'll miss you. We got used to you, enjoyed a lot of you. There, saw a lot of you. But we'll come visit. I'll come visit you and I in you know, Hollywood and Echo Park. Where were the other.
00:05:49
Speaker 11: Cities, Hollywood, Silver Lake and Echo Park.
00:05:51
Speaker 1: Yeah, Hollywood, Silver Lake and Echo Park. I'll swing by. I'll help you even move if you need that to get you out of Burbank. But I I I will miss you, I really will. I miss the late night screaming, the defecation on the streets. I thought that was interesting. I'm stealing, uh, you know, breaking my car, stealing my crap. I'll miss that.
00:06:17
Speaker 11: It looks like there's already people who camping here.
00:06:19
Speaker 1: Oh no, the good spots are going You got to get back there tonight. Leave all these stupid cities that hassle you, and get back to Hollywood, Echo Park and that Silver Lake area.
00:06:31
Speaker 11: It looks like there's already people who can't. Have they been enforcing that no, I don't think so. Nearby worker Jazz wonders what will happen next?
00:06:39
Speaker 12: Some people like hanging out around the area, and it just doesn't feel good about us going home at.
00:06:47
Speaker 1: Yeah, I know it's gonna be hassled for you.
00:06:48
Speaker 12: But.
00:06:51
Speaker 11: On the street many are curious too. Well, good luck on them.
00:06:55
Speaker 10: Get real, then it's gonna turn into another bad area because it's not getting any better.
00:07:00
Speaker 9: Think ground Game for always being there on the front lines with folks. Sila Democratic Socialists of America.
00:07:07
Speaker 7: SODO Martinez tells Fox eleven that forty one eighteen makes it more difficult to engage with and support people experiencing homelessness.
00:07:14
Speaker 1: Right, I'm with the guy. I like they should open more parks in La.
00:07:18
Speaker 7: Well, the city's new chair of the Homelessness Committee, Councilwoman Isabelle Herado, says, I am open to a serious and transparent conversation about how forty one eighteen is being used, what results it is producing, and what its future should be.
00:07:31
Speaker 4: Sending the police to give people tickets in my community almost always makes the thing worse.
00:07:36
Speaker 1: Well, okay, yeah, that's the mentality of a great city. Silverlake, Hollywood and Echo Park.
00:07:42
Speaker 7: Well Tuesday's vote impacts twelve no camping zones across LA.
00:07:46
Speaker 13: Council member Sodo Martinez, if you don't want those protections in your district, that's a decision you can make and explain to your constituents.
00:07:54
Speaker 1: Some council members believe ouch man, that woman went nuts on this guy.
00:07:59
Speaker 11: Some House members believe it could spread. This Today's decision worry you.
00:08:04
Speaker 14: It does worry.
00:08:05
Speaker 10: It worries me to the extent that I don't want to see more council members rescind this.
00:08:10
Speaker 7: Sodo Martinez was unavailable to speak with us tonight.
00:08:14
Speaker 1: Yeah, why doesn't he open up his district right now?
00:08:16
Speaker 7: It's unclear how much it could cost to remove those no camping signs.
00:08:20
Speaker 1: Okay, the signs are coming down.
00:08:22
Speaker 11: Well in Kellywood, Matthew Seed or Fox Loven.
00:08:25
Speaker 1: We're coming home. We're coming home. The homeless are coming back. Ah Man, that's gonna be should be suld. There should be a parade for these people and watch them bring all their stuff back to Silver Lake, Echo Park and Hollywood. They're coming home. They're coming home. Whether you like it or not, you have no say. Citizens. You guys are just scumbags. The ones that are really important in this town are the homeless. Yeah, they control the joint in last you live in Burbank, Glendale, Pasaden Arcadia, and then it's the other way around. But everyone, if you're homeless and you're listening right now, I know a lot of homeless people listen to the radio, and I appreciate that. Time to go to Hollywood, Echo Park and Silver Lake. That's where you're going to be welcomed back with open arms. But again, good spots going quickly. Got to get back there tonight.
00:09:16
Speaker 6: You're listening to Tim Conway Junior on demand from KFI AM six forty.
00:09:23
Speaker 1: You know Bellio. We have a lot of beautiful listeners at KFI and one of them just sent me a book that I flipped out when I opened it. It's the history of Agua Coliente. Oh that was nice remembering Mexico's legendary racetrack. I've been there with my dad. Yeah, we were in San Diego. My dad and I were in San Diego and Delmar wasn't open. It was off season and he says, hey, you want to go to a Agua Coliente racetrack. I'm like, you bet. It's like late eighties, early nineties and just before they closed. I think they closed around nineteen ninety two ninety three, and they didn't run thoroughbreds there anymore. They just ran dogs. They ran dogs until twenty twenty four. How about that. Everybody said, no, they're dog racing in like, you know, nineteen ninety three, ninety four and they said, f that, We're going to go to twenty twenty four with the dogs, the greyhounds. That was some move but that place, I remember it burned down. It was kind of sad, but there's a great history and I know the history of Agua colle Antics. My dad would always tell me. And I remember my dad sitting me down, not setting me down, but we were having a I don't know, a hot dog or you know, hamburger burrito or something at this park in Tijuana, and my dad said, I don't know if you know this, but this is where the starting gate was created. The starting gate for horse racing was created at Agua Caliente in Mexico's great racetrack. And it was great, fact it was great. They also started to pick six there. I remember my dad telling me that he goes this is where the pick six started and in the early nineteen hundreds, this was the very first track to have an announcer where the you know, a guy would come on and tell you who's winning and who's not. And that's where all of this, all this great rich history with horse racing, a lot of it started in Agua Coliente in Tijuana, and then the Americans, you know, stole it from the Mexicans. But this is the home of the first woman jockey, Aqua Coliente. The first great woman jockey started there. I think the last great woman jockey also wrote there. But but running dogs until twenty twenty four was such a bold move. It really was great. So I can't thank you enough. Greg m A. R Ye, Marie Maria, Maria, I can't thank you enough.
00:11:47
Speaker 3: Man.
00:11:48
Speaker 1: I'm going to go home and read this whole book. I had such a great time with my dad there at Agua Colliente. I know there's a casino in you know, I think it's Palm Springs that's also named after that. There's no there. But this is an unbelievable book. I will cherish this forever, man. I love this book. And he wrote a nice note here. He says, Tim I'm a longtime listener. My son turned me on to you on KFI twenty five years ago, which I wasn't here. Oh he probably thought. He probably thought I was Chief Daryl Gates for the first six six years. Yeah, yeah, you know. But anyway, he says, my son, you've met him. Also, my granddaughter Ava graduated from Burroughs last year, and he's a big fan. They moved to San Clemente at the end of twenty twenty four. Yes, they love it, he wrote. I'm a history buff, so I found a book interesting. And on the racetrack, I'm the racetrack guy, so I thought you might enjoy it. Oh, Greg, you have no idea. This is one of the great gifts ever ever, he said, I love that you're back to your old schedule. Belly. Oh hello, see I know they know it. Mark Thompson is the best, and you have a great crew. Don't retire. Exclamation point comes from a guy named Greg in m O. Is that Missouri Fenton, Missouri six'. Three oh, OH i GUESS i shouldn't give his address, up but that drive out. That all, right all, right let's get some more. News and what is? That oh you won't see the. Book oh look at, this you'll enjoy. That look at. That it's not, beautiful it's. All they got a bunch of. 00:18:56
Speaker 11: Good?
00:18:56
Speaker 5: OH i just, yeah it's.
00:18:58
Speaker 1: Delicious Trader joe, says great. Food they really. Do no response to. Anybody, okay we'll move. On but this woman who won last, night she became The democrat nominee For senate In, florida and her name Is Angie. Nixon she's A, democrat, socialist and she beat that vinmin beat him. Outright she was a super super underdog and she was going to lose To Alexander. Vidman this is what kind of underdog she. Was a month before that that that, race before the people went to vote In, florida one month before he had a ninety six point three percent chance of winning In. Florida so you'd have to put up ninety six dollars to win one hundred, dollars and that's not a very good. Bet but if you bet on, her On Angie, nixon she was a a point four percent, underdog point four percent at one. Point so what does that? Mean if you put up one hundred dollars on somebody who's four tenths or two fifths of one, Percent if you put up one hundred dollars on polymarket for her to, win you would have won twenty five thousand, dollars twenty five. Grand she was a point four zero point four percent. Underdog and If i'm reading this, correctly WHICH i THINK i, am that for every forty cents that you put up you would have won one hundred dollars because if you would have to put up one hundred dollars on, vidmin and you would have if you had to put eighty ninety five dollars on, vidman and you would have won one hundred. Bucks, huge, huge. Favorite now, Again i'm not into, polymarket and Maybe i'm misreading, this but my math skills with gambling are pretty. Good and she, Won so you kicked. Ass if you bet On Angie nixon to become our next senator or The democratic, NOMINEE i should, say but, man what an. Underdog this woman was point four. Percent that's not even a one percent chance of. Winning and she won. Handily she won by thousands and thousands of. Votes but if you cleaned, up, man if you Got Angie, nixon The democratic socialist In, florida you made a ton of. Money just, huge huge. Move that is. Great all, right let's sud we have time. HERE i don't think we. Do all, right let's recap what we've. Done that always waste about a minute or. So but oh, no It's dodger. Read let's go with The dodgers, here all, Right So dodgers your official home For Los Angeles Dodger baseball HIS am five to SEVENTY La sports and tomorrow night you're back to Back world champs take on The. PIRATES i think first pitch is at seven o'clock right right on That listen ON am five to SEVENTY La sports and stream The iHeartRadio app live from wherever you. Are and it's all thanks to the Gallpin Ford Broadcast. Booth Gallpin Ford Broadcast.
00:22:32
Speaker 6: Booth you're listening To Tim Conway junior on demand FROM KFI am six. Forty the math is.
00:22:40
Speaker 1: Right if you bet last night on Poly market and you bet That nixon was going to Beat, Vidman Angie nixon was going to win that The democratic nominee FOR Us senate In, florida a one one hundred dollars buy would have only cost you forty cents because she was at point four, Percent so it would cost you four tenths of one cent to buy a one dollar by one dollars worth of. Action what does that? Mean that means that whatever money you put, down you got two hundred and fifty times your. Wager so if you put down ten bucks On Angie nixon last, night you'd have got twenty five. Hundred if you put down one hundred, dollars you would have gotten twenty five. Thousand if you put it one thousand, down you'd have gotten two hundred and fifty thousand. Back and if you were really a gambler and you bet twenty five thousand dollars last, night you would have to have bet it before because she was a long shot about three months, ago two months. Ago but if you put twenty five grand On Angie nixon to, win then today you could have cashed out for six point two million. Dollars and we blew. It we didn't do. It we didn't do. It maybe you did, it BUT i didn't do. It I'm i'm not On calshi or polymarket BECAUSE i KNOW i would spend every penny of my daughter's college fund and be up till four am. Gambling SO i had to slow down And i'm not on. It i'll talk About. Costco they're rolling out a medicare plan in a partnership with a health. Insurer let's find out what's going. On maybe get your health insurance Through.

00:24:55

00:25:06
Speaker 16: That the company says that these three target markets include about five Million medicare eligible, enrollees but they are not naming yet specific states or timing while they wait for the government approval that they.
