ABOUT THIS EPISODE
The thought of eating creepy crawlies isn't always appealing, but it's been happening across the world for tens of thousands of years. According to the CSIRO insects are currently eaten by two billion people from 130 countries.
So, should we be eating more here in Australia? It was a question presented as part of National Science Week, with three insect species approved for commercial human consumption.
To find out how these tiny critters could improve the bigger picture, including our circular economy, The Wire spoke with Kerry Wilkinson, Professor of Oenology.
