Speaker 1: The volume. All right, Well, good to him tonight, you're at the volume. Happy Tuesday, everybody. Hope all you guys are having a great start to your week. We are officially in the NBA Draft right now. Adam Silver. It was just at the podium saying, God knows what, I've got a muta right now. So we're gonna do the show, but I hope you guys can hang out with us. Me and Jacksoner are just gonna be hanging out really throughout the draft. We're gonna talk a little bit about the Ghana Steel. We're going to be obviously reacting to the picks as they come in. Anytime we got some downtime in between, we're gonna be taking questions from the chat. So if you guys have any questions about anything related to the NBA offseason, drop them in the chat and we'll get to them throughout and again, we're just gonna be hang out. It's gonna be pretty informal. We're just gonna have fun and watch the draft together. You guys know the joke before we get started. Subscribe to the Hoops to Night YouTube channel so you don't miss any more of our videos. We have a goal to get to one hundred and fifty thousand subs before the end of summer leak, and so we got about ten thousand more we got to get. So it would help us a lot if you guys would take a second to scroll down and hit that subscribe button. If you're already subscribed like this video, sign up for post notifications. That helps us a lot. All right, let's talk some basketball, Jackson. You are a Celtics fan or a resident Celtics fan here at hoops tonight, and this was a bizarre scenario where it felt like as soon as they actually committed to putting Jalen Brown on the table, they should just get it done right. It's kind of common sense for all the reasons we talked about this morning. But you know, you and I were textan last night whether it was them not wanting to make the Celtics into a contender, or whether they were catering to Giannis in some way. He is not a Boston Celtic. He's a member of the Miami Heat. And now there's some awkwardness surrounding this Jalen Brown situation. So just thirty thousand feet, where are you at as a Celtics fan. After all of this, I.
00:01:51
Speaker 2: Mean, we're basically in the one nightmare scenario, which is not getting Yannisinteatacombo, and potentially it seems like enough of a not ripped Maybe it's too strong of a word between Jalen Brown and the Celtics, but a situation where he maybe wants to be traded or the team feels like they want to trade him because of they feel like what the relationship has been frayed from this sort of situation. I'm, you know, personally hopeful that this has happened enough times now where Jalen Brown has been shopped and he is far enough into the league where he is certainly aware of the it's a business of it all, and he is a very smart guy and he can sort of understand that this is just sort of how it goes, and that he's comfortable enough to come back to the team and just sort of run it back at this point maybe with you know, with some tweaks here or there that said, this is the coming off of his best season of his career and also this is I would say the furthest along in the shopping Jaalen Brown process that he's the Celtics have ever gone, So it wouldn't surprise me if he was wanting to be traded, it would It would surprise me if the Celtics, some of the reporting today about them listening to offers and stuff, I'm a little bit skeptical of that. It would surprise me if they were like actively shopping him. It wouldn't surprise me as much if he wants to be traded.
00:03:03
Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, I I think there's a big difference between we've made calls about potentially trading Jalen Brown and like here's our offer, best and final, right, we want this deal to get done all of a sudden, Oh shit, it doesn't get done. And I, while there's a difference there, I tend to agree with you that, like there's a certain amount of like this is just the nature of the business. The deal I immediately thought of was the Anthony Davis for Luka Doncic deal, which is like I understand and we did here after the fact that like you know, Anthony Davis was a little queasy about like did people know beforehand, like how much of this was kind of sudden versus how much of it was more premeditated, And it kind of had this like a little bit of an awkward feel and then he gets done and it's like, what do you it's it's it's Luka Doncic, Like what do you do? It's Luka Doncic.
00:03:54
Speaker 2: And I think.
00:03:55
Speaker 1: Giannis is not quite that level of asset, just because Luca is coming off of a finals run two years, three years after Jiannis and Janis had dealt with the injury issues, although Luca obviously had had injury issues. But I just think Luca is a slightly.
00:04:08
Speaker 2: More valued asset.
00:04:10
Speaker 1: But I think Giannis was in the same tier as like this is a transformative type of asset where like you understand why they would consider making this type of move, And I just I think Jalen is of the right age where he's been around long enough that he would understand.
00:04:27
Speaker 2: Yeah.
00:04:27
Speaker 1: The other thing too, is like I don't think Jalen's under any sort of delusion like these guys don't like playing with him, or like there's a fine line between like we like I think Austin and Lebron were very close friends with Anthony Davis. Yeah, you know, like I don't think it was anything like that, And so I think there's enough strong character guys around that Derek White's like, when he gets back in that locker room, if it's Derek White there, if it's Jason Tatum there, if it's Joe Mizoula there, I don't think he's gonna feel like he's not wanted, you know what I mean?
00:04:56
Speaker 2: Agreed. And the other side of that.
00:04:57
Speaker 1: Too, is like, do you agree with me that there's not really another guy out there that you would trade a Jalen for?
00:05:05
Speaker 2: Not at all? I mean at this point, and you know the Wizard's pick is in, so once what the pick is made, we can pivot to that. But it says the pick is in hasn't been announced yet. No, I think at this point there's no way you're upgrading on a temp from a talent perspective, just no way. I did see Chris Mannix was floating the name. I don't think he was sourced. I think he was just sort of doing his personal canvassing of the teams, and he was saying, and maybe Evan Mobley is a guy as sort of a younger a guy is not as good as Jalen, but could theoretically keep getting better and fill a position of need I'm not into that as a potential deal personally, but like, that's I suppose the sort of player that I would be more interested in than some of like them, like Trey Murphy and Filler. Like I'm not, I don't really want to downgrade at the position and fill out the rest of the trade value wise with other assets. If you're gonna make a move and you baking in that you're downgrading in talent, I would want it to be at a different position. I don't really get why you would just downgrade at this same position.
00:06:01
Speaker 1: Yeah, Evan Mobley's an interesting option because you the only thing that freaks me out with Evan is I've never loved the idea of him playing the five because he's just not quite physical enough. But then again, you have this weird kind of like Celtics team that likes to play five out basketball. So Evan Mobley's an interesting option. I would want to see the rest of that deal though.
00:06:19
Speaker 2: Yeah, be really complex, as Max noted as well, because the Cavs are a second Apron team, so it's like it's very it's probably not going to happen because they are second Apron team.
00:06:27
Speaker 1: And even further, like Boston's taking pretty good care of their assets, so it's not like like, for instance, like let's say the Lakers were like, oh, we're going to trade Austin Reeves to try to get something back. It's like, well, they don't really have anything in the way of draft assets, so like you could see them being like, we have to include this guy in order to make the deal. Boston could absolutely attach a salary like Derek White to some picks and go get a good player, like they don't necessarily have to include a guy like Jayleen Brown to do that. Jalen Brown was unique in the sense that he was the asset that could get Yiannis like that. He was the asset that could trump a team that's literally giving up their entire damn roster and everybody that they have. Okay, here comes Adam Silver. Let's listen in.
00:07:13
Speaker 2: First pick is here. Aj Debonsa. There it is on the on the pregame show that he he specifically requested his full name, Anissa de Bonsa, be announced as a tribute to his father, which is why they said Anissa and not Aj Debonsa. Very cool, you know, shout out to his father. I didn't know that he was a junior. Actually, I guess that's why I didn't know that that's where the AJ comes from. Didn't really put that together until tonight. But AJ de Bonsa, there you go, a J Debonsa.
00:07:45
Speaker 1: I think this was the right move. I you know, it's curious because there's all this buzz I remember when Mike Schmid's got the GM job. We everyone was talking about how like there's this idea that feel for the game and overall offensive skill was like the new the new kind of like hot button trait that that NBA teams were interested in. Essentially, the idea that like the game has shifted a little bit away from the from the like pure athleticism. We need just the best, like apex, like ceiling. We want to see this guy lightning quick first step or completely overpowering athlete. And it's gone a little bit more towards. You look at the top of the league and like, Shay's not an apex athlete, you know, Yo kitchen in an apex athlete, Lucas not an apex athlete. Really, Wemby and Giannis are the only two guys in that tier that have like apex athletic traits and So I understand why a guy like Darren Peterson would be like considered for a spot like this because he is like flat out a better feel for the game guy than than AJ Debonca right now, like a laser beam shooter, a lot more of that like refined offensive skill. So I understand that piece. And if you were to tell me, like, does Darren Peterson have a higher floor than Aj debons I would agree, like just very simply put, Like if you told me there, like there is a version of this story we're ten years from now. Darren Peterson is like a respected pro that's in that like you know, twenty to twenty five range in the NBA, you know, fifteen to twenty range, whatever it is. And Aj Debonca is like kind of viewed like a palapunkaro, like a guy that's like, oh, you know, maybe he's got this upside, but you know, people are questioning his feel for the game, thinking he might be kind of like not as impactful on winning as as you know, his peers atop the league. I think that's certainly a possible outcome. But Darren Peterson, to me, doesn't have that like defining trait that allows him to reach that ceiling of being like a second team All NBA type of guy, a first team All NBA type of guy. The AJ Debonsa. There's a combination of the physical traits the relentless like will to score. That's what I like. AJ Debonsa like quite literally has his pedal to the metal all the time as an aggressor, and that does not mean the same thing as ballhog to me. It's like he's constantly putting pressure on the defense. He has learned a lot in recent years about how to kind of punish defenses for loading up on him. I was watching a bunch of Debontsa film over the course of the last week and a half, and I was actually impressed at how he was willing to take the double team to work the ball around the court on a team in Boiu. At that, frankly, I didn't think was very good. That like had multiple like weak links on the floor at all times, that struggled with basing spacing his basic spacing concepts, and that didn't move the ball very quickly off of his double teams. Like, I just think there's a relentless pressure that he puts on defenses as an aggressor. A willingness to make the pass that is continuing to grow. And then that's not even that's before we even get to the ceiling, which is like, if he does put together the jump shooting piece, he's just so damn athletically talented that he's going to be able to get to his spots and get to shots. And I thought the most encouraging stat from him last year was that he shot fifty three percent on pull up twos inside of seventeen feet, which is playoff shooting. That's like, he's going to be able to rise up in the short range and knock down consistently little mid range jump shots. And I just think that that's something that translates really well as like a ceiling razor for him. And I again it was close. I understood the case for Darren Peterson. I just thought aj Debonce had the higher ceiling and that's what made him the right pick here.
00:11:42
Speaker 2: Yeah, he is the thing that I like about him. And you know, there's a little bit of projection we are doing without knowing these guys actually personally, but it certainly seems like he has the higher competitive drive compared to Darren Peterson and probably the highest competitive drive in the class. Oh, he is super, super laser focused. I think his sort of insistence and persistence about wanting to be the number one pick. I mean, you hear that a lot, but he is and he plays like that though he is constantly getting to the basket, he is constantly getting downhill and he has that. I mean, he's huge, right, He's six', Nine he's a big wing and he that shows in the physicality and how he gets to the, rim and it also shows he is a lot of his shot diet in college was either at the rim or the sort of like rising over the top of you in the mid, range which he just lights out at for someone this, young and those are shots, that, yeah they're going to be more athletic, defenders better, defenders bigger, defenders all of those things in THE. Nba but a lot of those, shots especially once you get into like year, four, five, six when he's ready to really attack, switches he is going to be able to get those exact same shots and he's not getting worse at, them you, Know like that is the shot die that he can be very successful. AT i would say pretty much, immediately but especially once he really starts to become a sort of the more full fledged version of. Himself that's going to make him really tough to be and really really tough to, guard especially like to your point in the playoffs when it gets the sort of grind it out mode a little. Bit.
00:13:04
Speaker 1: So according To, synergy seven attempts per game at the rim at a very efficient sixty three, percent which is outrageous for like an upright wing saying those he was getting two point six of those mid range jump shots as well per game inside of seventeen, feet also had about one runner hook a game like this is we're talking over ten attempts per game at the rim a right pick number.
00:13:27
Speaker 2: Two that many attimes at the, rim especially for a college, player is so. Insane, okay there it Is Darren peterson to The Jazz.
00:13:34
Speaker 1: Peterson so we're going shock to start the top. Four this to me makes a ton of. SENSE i, Understand LIKE i didn't really understand his concern about being Alongside Cante, George, yeah BECAUSE i just, like, like how can you not watch The spurs this? Year and, again LIKE i understand The spur The spurs even in the scenario where Where Dylan harper was fighting Behind deer And fox And Steph. Castle he's still had probably the best guard playoff run that we've, seen like in a very long time for a player his. Age, yeah and it's, because guess, what in the MODERN nba you need lots of ball. Handling you just. Do and even in the event that you're, staggering you can stagger these dudes and play them all thirty plus minutes a game if you have three of. Them and the whole point is he would be the second, guard like he would be the second guard After Keante. George there's just no universe where he wouldn't be heavily involved in the.
00:14:30
Speaker 2: Offense and it's also like their team, build at least as currently, constructed is really big and not heavy on ball. Handling aside From Kiante, george it's basically Just Keyonte. George it's not like you're competing with. It it's not like it's a roster that has several on ball. Creators and you're even in The Dylan harper, case you're like the third guy or the fourth G, yeah you are the second guy in terms of got ball in your hands, Ability and also if You're Darren peterson and you're being drafted number. Two, overall you should have the complete confidence and ability to be out out Played Counte george respectfully to Cont County. George Aaron, peterson if he's the guy that he expects himself to be and we expect him to, be is going to be better than A Kiante. George so it's not really going to be an. Issue Past like year, Two.
00:15:15
Speaker 1: Kiante was a willing passer and was a player THAT i actually, Like LIKE i, THINK i think he's a guy that will Help Darren peterson in a lot of. Ways like for, starters he's going to take the primary perimeter defender every. Game that's going to Get Darren peterson an easier. Matchup he's going to Get Darren peterson playing against a shifted. Defense you have the immense rim pressure That Jaron, Jackson like think About Jaron jackson And Walker kessler just mashing teams on the glass and how that's going to lead to, Uh, like that's a different kind of rim pressure that's going to create openings for. Him Laurie markinen is going to space the, Floor like that's the other part of. This like we talked earlier about HOW i do genuinely Believe darren's a better player THAN aj right now as AN nba, Player like because as AN nba, PLAYER Aj debonds is a primary shot, creator which is just a really difficult job to do really, well even for the best players in the, league let alone the dudes who are like we're talking About Jaylen. Brown Jaylen brown had a rough series Against philly as a primary shot, Creator like it's a hard, Job whereas the job that he's going to Have Darren peterson is much more of like A i'm playing in the flow of like real, basketball AND i, mean this is a guy that this is a guy that. SHOT i THINK i had it like fifty nine fifty eight percent on on spot up threes this. Season i'm pulling it up, again the.
00:16:37
Speaker 2: Same level of unbelievable rim, pressure like outlier level rim pressure THAT Aj debants is putting on for someone his, Age Darren peterson is doing as a shooter.
00:16:46
Speaker 1: Fifty three percent on spot up. Threes, overall on catch and shoot threes this, season he shot forty three percent on pretty high. Volume like he is day one going to be one of the best spot up players in THE. Nba so like that is just immensely valuable within the context of what The jazz. Do, now he's gonna have a hard. Job, like here's the other part of, This Darren, Peterson your guarding the other team's best player every, night day, One like that's that's that's his job For. Utah BUT i also just LIKE i also just, think you, know you know How washington like seems like they're gonna be good because they have all this, Talent but it's just kind of, weird Right it's like this Weird Anthony davis contract. Situation It's Trey young just re upped on a new. Deal you have all these young players Like Trey johnson And Bloc pulabali And Keishn george And Alex sar who's dealing with a foot, injury and you, know you've got just a bizarre. ROSTER i don't know necessarily how they're gonna be good right. Away like it it could, be but it could also be kind of. Clunky the thing With utah is LIKE i just think they're a top six seed right. AWAY i just think they're great right. Away LIKE i THINK i think that's an extremely talented team that has a monster frontline that is going to physical pound teams that now has pretty high level guard. Play like you got everybody who's listening to the show this, Year i'm a Big Keyante george. FAN i Think Darren peterson is a like natural fit with those. Guys he's going to get his on ball, reps like When isaiah call your checks into the. Game he's either going to be the second guard off of off Of Keishawn george or excuse, me off Of he's going to be the second guard off Of Darren peterson or the second guard like he's he's going to be playing in that secondary. Role Darren peterson is gonna have large chunks of the game or he is on, ball or he is the primary shot creator with that, lineup AND i just THINK i think he's gonna BE i think HE'S i think he's gonna have more fun playing basketball there than he would Alongside Trey. Yon.
00:18:43
Speaker 2: Yeah and, also if you're gonna, say, like what's the the weak point Of Darren pearson's game at this, moment it's probably pick and roll sort of. Creation he's not an a plus creator at this, point nor does he need to. Be he's pretty awesome at everything, else so it's not like you need him to be this on ball dynamo right away like that that's just not really his best trait in my, opinion not where you want to Unleash Darren peterson, Anyways.
00:19:09
Speaker 1: YEAH i like. Him WOULD i imagine the ceiling For Darren peterson being is Like Devin, booker a player who doesn't have a lightning quick first, step who's not necessarily going to be toasting dudes off the dribble all the, time but that is a master of like understanding his, Space like here's HOW i get dudes pinned out a position and using my strength and body to get little bits of separation for a little short pull. Ups AND i do think he's got that. Upside it's just Like Devin booker's not the type of player that we view as like AN mvp candidate Like Darren.
00:19:37
Speaker 2: Peter and, Noticeably Devin booker did not become this sort of like hybrid point guard shooting guard player until much later into his. Career Sammeron Boozer number three sort of as. Expected there was a little bit Of Caleb wilson buzz, obviously BUT i.
00:19:51
Speaker 1: Didn't understand that. Personally today's show is brought to you by presenting sponsor Hard Rock, Bet florida's. It In, Arizona ohio And virginia call one eight hundred my reset gambling problem called one eight hundred gambler In, Colorado, Illinois, Michigan New, jersey Or. TENNESSEE I Cam, boozer it's kind of like a lesser version of The Darren peterson. Case to, ME i just think he's going to be a really GOOD nba player right away because he does some important things well right, Away like he's going to, rebound he's going to be able to post. Mismatches he's right away going to be a dude who can space the, floor like as like a weak side kind of scoring forward type of. Dude The Memphis grizzlies are going to be a super interesting team in the sense that they don't really have a ton of like WHAT i would consider to be reliable perimeter ball, handling but they do have a lot of WHAT i consider to be like, good good young perimeter, players you know WHAT i. Mean and what that means, is LIKE i like the idea of their offense being structured around post play and like Cam boozer And zachieedee just like matching. Teams but then you do have the ability to run pick and roll with Ty, jerome who was really good in the brief bit that he played last, Year and LIKE i Like Cedric coward a, LOT i Like Cam spencer a. LOT i like them playing off of the advantages that those guys Create, DEFENSIVELY i think it's gonna be a little tricky BECAUSE i think him And edie will just get picked on in. Space but we've seen how teams have gotten really good at like kind of structuring their defense with pre switching and like zones more to like protect their bigs in. Space and, again if If edy has to defend in space But cam's behind, him or camus the defended space but Easy EDI's behind, him and you have enough aggregate size on the, floor you can kind of like tilt a team's shot profile to a certain type of shot that you're willing to live with and at least give them an ability to compete in the regular. Season and, again it's it's just going to be like a weird and fun Like League pass team next.
00:23:36
Speaker 2: Year it's going to be such a weird team because they DON'T i, Mean cam b LOSER i think maybe has a higher ceiling than Maybe i'm sort of giving them credit. For but he, feels at least at this, point sort of like a higher, floor lower ceiling relative to the other top, guys not you, know big, picture low ceiling type of. Player and they have A so that makes him And Cedric coward two guys who are like interesting guys that you would say these are like winning type of. Play they have sort of winning mindsets and player play styles and player. Builds but they're not a winning team right, now or no one expects them to. BE i don't expect them to be any good at. All so it's gonna be really interesting to see the development of this team because usually on a team that's, bad you're, going let's go for the highest upside. Guys let's how can we attract as many of these crazy athletes and these type of players as possible when their two best, prospects AND i would Say coward Over edie even are the sort of winning style players who are not exactly this guy's going to be AN mvp candidate one, day like could be AN mvp candidate one day if it all sort of the dice, rolls, right you, Know.
00:24:36
Speaker 1: YEAH i, mean if you listen to anybody who's connected to THE nba who knows things About. Memphis they'll tell You memphis has one of the stronger basketball cultures in THE. Nba, yeah which is what's so funny about The John morant situation and, why like that partnership has been doomed to fail really since the, beginning and Like John muran's talent was, insane and if he had been able to get better instead of, plateauing if not getting, WORSE i think he might they would have been willing to put up with it. More but it They Cam boozer is such a Classic, Memphis Memphis grizzly style of. Player he's just a dude that's going to go in and like be like a professional right. Away these are the guys too that, like especially the dudes that, are you, know second GENERATION nba, Players they kind of understand how things. Work they have really good guidance. THERE i saw a stat today At. GOD i WISH i could remember who posted, it but somebody posted something On twitter that showed that like there was like a twenty three twenty four percent increase In like they're gauged through wind shares as like a catch all, metric And i'm not a big catch all metric in this you, know narrative. Thing for this, Narrative i'm, Gonna i'm, Gonna i'm gonna allow. It, uh the idea that like second GENERATION nba players tend to just outproduce their pick compared to other, players and that makes sense to me and like perfect. Sense, Yeah and SO i just THINK i just think in, General cam is a nat fit In, memphis AND i think he's going to like it's gonna be just a, weird fun. Team like you, said they're not gonna be. Good The west is too, deep they're too slow, defensively, uh and they're gonna get picked on in a lot of different, ways but like they're just gonna Be LIKE i could see The Memphis grizzlies as that team where like when your team's playing their third game in four nights and it's on the road In memphis and you're, like, fuck this isn't going to be, easy like and like you, know, uh their front line is just going to bash you in when you don't play hard and beat you up on the. Glass and, again Like, Edie edie And cam are both like really capable of generating advantages out of the. Post AND i think that's something that is going to fuel the advantage creation for their role players to kind of capitalize.
00:26:43
Speaker 2: On, Yeah i'm really interested to Watch boozard's. CAREER i, MEAN i think THE i think the son of AN nba player thing is extremely, extremely extremely, real AND i think it gives you a massive leg up on all of the non game things that come with being AN nba, player which, is you, know report some of the stuff is the toughest stuff to adjust.
00:27:03
Speaker 1: To do you want to get us a question from the.
00:27:05
Speaker 2: Chat let's do. It there's a lot of questions about who do you like for The warriors at?
00:27:10
Speaker 1: Eleven so we talked about this on the show when we broke down The warriors. Thing they're in a weird range of the draft where so much of it just depends on who's. AVAILABLE i really like there are players THAT i really like for, them LIKE i Like Braden, BURRY'S i like Jack Sea, LINENBURG i Like Keaton. WOGLER i just don't think any of those guys are going to be available for them at that. Spot and we'll. See we're gonna find out here in a little bit. More As johnson is a guy THAT i think is in the range for them THAT i actually really like AND i think he could play next To draymond AND i THINK i just think he's a legit good. Pro but it's, LIKE i just don't see a universe where he is, picked given the fact that they already have some centers they can use in the short term With. Steph the guy That i've been looking at there Is LeBaron. FILON i think he's a guy THAT i think could come in and just be an advantage creator Alongside steph and immediately some like scoring pop for. Them AND i actually think he'll be, available.
00:28:03
Speaker 2: Which is the.
00:28:04
Speaker 1: Key Caleb Wilson number, Four.
00:28:07
Speaker 2: Caleb.
00:28:08
Speaker 1: Uh you, Know, CALEB i think is a clear level above the dudes that are behind him in this, draft but a clear level below the dudes that are above him in this. Draft he Is if you were ranking like just for, instance jump shooting, skill he'd be fourth in this. List if you were ranking, uh if you were ranking like feel for the game and playmaking, talent he's fourth on this. List he does have the vertical athletics and athleticism peace, Like he's probably even a better vertical athlete than Aj. Debonsa if you're if you're looking at that specific. Trait but WHEN i watched a lot of his, film uh prepping for our draft, preview it's the first step quickness that concerns.
00:28:46
Speaker 2: Me a little.
00:28:46
Speaker 1: Bit and he's a little, upright just enough to where like he's not going to be able to, like, OH i got a little bit of an, angle So i'm going to go through and around this. GUY i think Aj debonsa plays lower to the ground and on a wider two footed base where he's able to win some of those level battles in a way That caleb. Can't and while that while he does actually have a little bit of shot creation talent as a post, PLAYER i was actually really impressed by him with just like simple moves Like i'm just gonna get you on the left. Block i'm gonna bump you and spin over my right shoulder and take a little fade, away Or i'm gonna drop step all the way to the, basket or oh you cut me, Off i'm still just gonna rise up over the top of. You and he shot well enough in, that like he was around like mid mid low forties on those little short right shoulder fades and right shoulder turnarounds WHERE i think that that's like a shot that he'll be able to lean on a little. Bit but there's just to me the thing that's like if he had like lightning quick first step, Quickness i'd be all in On Caleb wilson as like a big picture upside. Prospect it's JUST i Think Shake Gilses alexander is the perfect example of. This vertical athleticism is probably the most overrated basketball. Trade the only players THAT i actually think it can get a little underrated with is like rim protection in vertical spacing for like, fives and who, Knows like Maybe caleb can translate that into some defensive value as like a secondary rim, protector like a layered form of rim, protection and it ends up being something more, Valuable but like that's at his, position it's just less. Valuable and like you look At shay his ability to be kind of like low to the ground and change of pace first step, Quickness like even Though shay doesn't have like the best first step in the, world he's constantly able to get around, people at least in the regular season, Context and like that to me is a more valuable trait than, like, OH i can put my elbow in the rim because we've seen we've seen somebody GUY i think Like ben maclamore and Like Terrence ross and like. That we've had a lot of two guards come in that can just like put their damn elbows in the rim and it just doesn't translate to like, real you, know basketball. Value.
00:30:52
Speaker 2: Yeah The Caleb willim stuff is. INTERESTING i think he's a really fun. Prospect he gets a lot of or not or not a lot. Of but some people have made the Young Kevin garnett. COMPARISON i think from a movement pattern, standpoint like watching him run and some of the, Moves i'm, like, OH i can definitely see Young Kevin. GARNETT i think the big question or two big, questions or if he can Make i'm not expecting him to be that, good but if he can make that sort of type of leap is does he is he able to put on? Muscle he does seem like he has a decently broad, frame LIKE i do think he'll be able to put on put on some. Muscle and the big differentiator With Kevin garnett is obviously the. Mentality the most competitive guy maybe that's ever played in THE, nba right And Will Caleb wilson be able to channel that similar type of, competitiveness because that's what takes a guy with some of THESE i don't want want to use the word tweener because that feels like such an OUTDATED nba, Term but some of this guy with who's what is he actually a leade at decides being an. Athlete i'm not sure that's what takes those type of guys to being multiple Time All stars and multiple Time ALL nba. Guys is if you can translate that athleticism and pair it WITH iq and competitiveness to to really sort of level up and actually leverage those athletic trades into highly highly successful mgame, player not highly highly successful.
00:32:03
Speaker 1: ATHLETE i agree with everything you. SAID i think the other thing THAT i would add THAT i think is a little underrated here IS kg was like a legitimate four five.
00:32:14
Speaker 2: Hybrid NOW i, know.
00:32:15
Speaker 1: He played at the at the four a lot Alongside Kendrick perkins and was kind of he was from that weird era where everyone was considered a, four like Like duncan was considered a. Four he was considered a four just because of the way the game was. Structured but Like duncan's just a straight up five in TODAY'S. Nba you, Know garnet's a straight up five in TODAY'S. Nba LIKE i, LIKE i would even be curious to see what like a Young Dirk novisky would look like in TODAY'S, Nba like if they would just put him alongside like An Aaron, gordon you, know kind of in a yokic. Style i'm a, five but LIKE i play alongside a rim protecting four kind of. THING i to, Me Caleb wilson is just a four through and, Through like that's just the like he. Is i'm really curious to see this fifth pick, Here like.
00:33:04
Speaker 2: First, big big pivot. Point it feels, like really, quickly who's your favorite?
00:33:08
Speaker 1: Guard oh?
00:33:09
Speaker 2: Man it feels like they're also good at so many different THINGS i. Do i've grown to really Like woggler the more THAT i watch, HIM i just feel like his the feel for the game stuff feels it just feels more important than ever in THE nba with everyone as THE iq of the whole league is so high and the schemes are, sore so, smart and the effort is so high across the board that it does feel like there's so many swings of the ball and having guys who can make HIGH iq plays from every spot on the floor and also be, versatile and his size gives him a little bit of that potitional, versatility his ability to shoot off the catch and the. DRIBBLE i do really Like. WOGGLER i don't think he's the highest ceiling of all of these. Guards that's got to Be, ACUFF i, WOULD i would, say BUT i really Like woggler's.
00:33:49
Speaker 1: Game, Yeah acuff is, tantalizing and it's so much of The acuff thing would depend on what TEAM i, like what kind of TEAM i, Had like IF i felt LIKE i could, Anchor like IF i Was, Orlando i'd take a cuf in a, heart you know WHAT i. Mean let's see what the pick is. Here But woggler was my top pick as.
00:34:04
Speaker 2: Well, yeah he just seems like he's got he can do so many different. Things Keen.
00:34:07
Speaker 1: Woggler there we. Go so The clippers were in. Agreement there's a couple of specific THINGS i really like About. Woggler, one he's got, size and it just goes back to the idea of positional, size and like a lot of these, guards A cuff is, Tiny Kingston flemings is. Tiny Brain murrs is another guy THAT i really, like and like, AGAIN i would take a cuff over all these dudes IF i had the right, defense but IF i didn't have the right, defense LIKE i THINK i got even Take bury's over. Acuff Like burry's is a PLAYER i really, like And i'm sure we'll be talking more about him in a few. Minutes but it's that idea of positional, size like having like a guy who's big for the, position, which by the, way like look at Those spurs. Guards they're all massive for their position in a way THAT i think allows them to play in the, physicality especially THE nba playoffs as things have gotten more. Physical, Now keaton's got a little Thin he's got to put a little bit of. Muscle but WHAT i really like about keeping off of that is he can just do literally. Everything like he is a. Guy he can run ball, screens he's got a little bit of shiftiness to play one on, one he can play off of the catch off the, Ball he's got useful length on the defensive end of the. Floor, LIKE i just look at him as a guy who's gonna assuming he starts Alongside Darius garland BECAUSE i Think Ben matherin is is a stereotypical kind of like bench guard at this point in his, career a guy who's, like, hey you come in the, game you shoot the ball every time if you want, To like can't we can't have you out there alongside these other. Guys the other, thing, too is, like let's say that The clippers don't Trade Kawhi keaton is a guy THAT i think could help them win right, away WHICH i think is another useful.
00:35:39
Speaker 2: Trade, YEAH i Think woggler does just he just does so many things, well AND i find myself gravitating towards some of these guys who weren't highly, recruited but it really grew into this and became just got better and better and we're able to succeed at sort of each level that they played. At And woggler definitely fits that. Bill he definitely feels like a. GUY i, mean we'll see about the on the defensive side of the, ball BUT i think that he hasn't just enough size and just enough skill at basically. EVERYTHING i don't think he's super elite at. ANYTHING i don't think he is like AN a plus at any single, thing but he he feels just not THAT i think he's going to be like this, player but a guy we were talking about earlier that's sort of also is similar As Aaron, wiggins a guy who is, like all, right he can kind of do everything, well which is going to give him a role somewhere in THE. Nba is he going to be a multiple Time All, star which you'd kind of hope for at a number five, Pick i'm not, Sure but is he going to be a very helpful player to pretty much any, team whether it's The, clippers for his whole career wherever he ends. UP i think he's going to be a pretty USEFUL nba.
00:36:37
Speaker 1: Player totally, Agree AND i think it made a lot of sense for The clippers, There AND, i, like you, KNOW i don't THINK i think when it comes to these guys in this, tier so much of it is just like what kind of team do you have right? Now and what are you looking? For you? Know and like you, know we talked about the idea in our when we did our draft, prep like would The clippers have to Trade Darius garland if they were going to take a guy like ACUFF i Only Keen woggler steps On Darius garland's toes at all or vice, versa right like that kind of put them in The Keaton Woggler Braden burry's kind of group just because of the of the dynamic with With Darius, garland AND i think they all indications are that The clippers are high On, darius and it makes some, sense you, know given the fact that they, basically you, know traded away their foundational offensive engine last year for. Him but you, know, yeah the only thing that is interesting to me with The clippers from here is like where do they go at the center? Position And i'll be really curious to see what they do.
00:37:40
Speaker 2: There, yeah it's gonna be an interesting center for them and they what they and which side of The kawhi coin they end up on if they try to keep him and see if they can make a shake with this, group or if they try to trade. HIM i would probably lean towards trading him IF i was running the. Team but it's an interesting spot for. Them who do you think For brooklyn? Here do you think it's gonna be Acuff?
00:38:00
Speaker 1: Man considering that they were allegedly interested In Trey young And Austin, reeves it kind of makes some sense that they would go for someone Like, Acuff Kingston flemings is an interesting. Option is a guy that like just that foundational trade of like he can beat people off the dribble and that's like a trait that you look at as a foundational. Thing but specifically With, BROOKLYN i think their biggest weakness right now is that their best like go get a bucket guy Is Michael Porter. Junior AND i think getting a guy Like Darius acuff gives you are a more reliable option. THERE i think it's probably going to Be.
00:38:33
Speaker 2: Acuff, yeah as someone who my best friend is A nets fan and he has been in despair for the last couple of years with their lottery luck and especially last. Year this year they. DROPPED i Think nets fans need something to hope, for and not that a front office should be drafting on what your fans should hope, for but it does feel like they need a little bit of, juice AND i feel Like Darius acuff is a guy who can who can give them a little bit of.
00:38:55
Speaker 1: Juice, Yeah and like there's a certain amount of if like Egor, demon it gives you a little bit more of like a shot creating type of. Talent acuff gives you more of like a scoring type of. TALENT i there are players THAT i really like on this team, too Like Drake powell as a player THAT i really like at the off guard. SPOT i Think Michael Porter junior for them is a guy that they will look to move and capitalize on his valuable value at some point. HERE I brooklyn doesn't really have anybody that's great at anything, Though like even When i'm talking at, LIKE i Like Drake, powell but he's not you, know A Cedric coward level like like three and at three and d kind of GUARD i, like Like. Egor demon's got some interesting, ability but he's not a guy that you're looking at as like a foundational. Guy so Like DARIUS A cuff could maybe be that kind Of they seem pretty stoked.
00:39:44
Speaker 2: Stoke that kind of means sense tells me a. Cuff BUT i mean we'll, see we'll say in a minute, here, YEAH i and not dissimilar To woggler. Credit you, Know demon is a guy who does feel like he could sort of play along inside another lead guard doesn't necessarily need to Be he was drafted as a point, guard but he's six to six and sort of feels a little bit more like a second side secondary creator than a true on ball you, know my strategy type engine. Type SO i think the the fit there would would be. FINE i think the fit THERE i, MEAN i mean just in general would be fine with what meant any of these guards, Actually but.
00:40:18
Speaker 1: All, right let's see what we. Got McHale Brown junior. Interesting he was a guy THAT I i.
00:40:27
Speaker 2: Liked in my. Scout it's just so hard to.
00:40:30
Speaker 1: Tell just to be one hundred percent transparent with, you, guys it's so hard to tell when you're scouting college guards because so much depends on their the system that they're playing, in how much space they have to operate, in like some of these teams that have like a bunch of post up talent on the floor that can kind of clog up. Spacing But michial McHale is he wasn't my favorite. Guard but does that feel like an overdraft for you.
00:40:55
Speaker 2: Maybe a little. Bit i'm a fan of, his BUT i think THAT i, THINK i think maybe, slightly maybe.
00:41:02
Speaker 1: Slightly the jump shooting numbers were a little tricky with him last. Year he was thirty three percent on catch and shoot, threes but he was thirty six percent off the, dribble so more comfortable off the. Dribble very good at the rim though he was sixty two percent at the. Rim didn't get there a, ton but, again so much of that has to do with the college. System four times a game and he shot sixty two percent. There, yeah he was very efficient shot, creator was very good out OF iso and at a pick and.
00:41:28
Speaker 2: Roll last, year he was probably my least favorite of the guards in this. Group BUT i do think he you, know we're sort of like splitting hairs a little, bit BUT i do think he Has hey has a little bit higher a true upside compared To, Brandon burry's And. Woggler, ACTUALLY i THINK i think if you're talking about the, highest the true, truth if these guys are going to reach the absolute ceiling of their, POTENTIAL i think It's he's probably second To acuf in terms of. CEILING i think he he you, know he shows some shots as a potential three level. Score he's an interesting. Player AND i think if you're if you're The nets in a similar van that we're talking About, ACUFF i think it does make sense to be shooting for. Upside they don't have a ton to sort of grasp. Onto they have no player who you would say is untouchable in any shape or form at this, point so you might as well go for a guy that you think can be sort of a true foundational.
00:42:18
Speaker 1: Piece, yeah he's got good, size the. QUICKNESS i wouldn't call it a lightning quick first, step but he's pretty, twitchy changes direction on the move pretty. Well pretty nasty little left, handed left handed hesitation, dribble but, man that's a that's a. Dude The nets just continue to be kind of like an, interesting, weird.
00:42:38
Speaker 2: Kind of a wildcard the draft the last couple of. Years i'm surprised by. This i'm surprised by.
00:42:44
Speaker 1: This, okay so a cuff's going To, sacramento then it's gotta be. In they're, like we got, it we got.
00:42:53
Speaker 2: Them, YEAH i mean the fist comes from from The. Brooklyn they were stoked about. That, SO i, MEAN i guess every every every time they ever show video in the top, ten and they're always like cheering and fist pumping and high fiving and. Whatnot But i'm kind of, Surprised like it's it's sort of, like did you you didn't think he was gonna be there that.
00:43:09
Speaker 1: They, yeah exactly what exactly.
00:43:13
Speaker 2: The clippers were Gonna we're gonna take.
00:43:14
Speaker 1: Him, oh let's get a question from the.
00:43:18
Speaker 2: Chat we we're. Waiting we got a couple of. CHATS a lot of, people you, included are very intrigued About Yoxall. Lendenborg where Is Yoxall lendeborg gonna go and what teams would be good fits For Yoxell.
00:43:31
Speaker 1: Lindeborg, Okay so as we look at the rest of the draft, order, Here sacramento deep at. Power excuse, Me sacramento needs a lead. Guard they're gonna take a lead. Guard, ATLANTA uh already has a bunch Of ford, Talent so like, that it doesn't make sense for them with The Jalen Johnson jonathan minga team to get a guy Like. Yoxall same goes For, dallas like, unless like you're Viewing cooper flag is a three and you plan on TRADING.
00:43:57
Speaker 2: Pj.
00:43:57
Speaker 1: WASHINGTON i don't Think yoxall goes at number, NINE, Uh milwaukee at number. Ten it gets a little bit more interesting when you look, at you, know some of the talent that they brought in from The yannis trade and they sent Out Bobby portis And. Yannis so like Maybe yoxel, there BUT i Think milwaukee might be thinking more upside given the situation that they're, In So yoxon might fall To Golden.
00:44:21
Speaker 2: STATE i mean that would be a home run For Golden.
00:44:23
Speaker 1: STATE i think it would be a home run For Golden state because that's a that gives you a Legitimate draymond at the five look with some. Side, YEAH i think that he can be really useful in that. System he just. Does he's another guy who's like good at everything right.
00:44:38
Speaker 2: Right it, does and it. DOES i mean with his, age it certainly feels like he makes more sense for a team Like Golden state Or Oklahoma city Than.
00:44:45
Speaker 1: Milwaukee, yeah so Like sacramento goes Guard, Atlanta atlanta's probably gonna go lead guard as. Well the thing the thing that's interesting With atlanta if you look at their team construct they have shiftiness set guard Uh. Nikkile Alexander walker's turned into more of like a high volume three point. Shooter he's like like he's playing a little bit more Like Klay thompson than he is Like Shay. Gillis alexander like his Cousin yea and C. J McCollum is a, like very much a shifty kind of. Guard SO i wonder If atlanta is Our Kingston flemings team because they need to beat someone off the dribble. Team that's a cuff number. Seven there you. Go this is The this is the Most Sacramento kings thing, Ever, like Extremely. Sacramento he's gonna get the ball a, ton he's gonna put up a ton of. Numbers they're not at all equipped to defend with him on the floor as a. TEAM I I i just LIKE I i this is the Most Sacramento kings thing ever because, frankly like they are set, up they're not set up in a way to win With darius a, cuff and and that's what kind of freaks me out for.
00:46:01
Speaker 2: Them it's definitely gonna be Give darius a cup the keys and let him just run around and do kind of whatever he wants right, away which sometimes feels hurtful to. Prospect sometimes he feels. Helpful you, know it, Worked it worked For Tree, young so like a team was picking The hawks around the clock, now so it's not like it's it's death sentence to just sort of get the keys right away and kind of play weird basketball and just see what. Sticks it's if you got the, talent you got the. Town SO i mean they don't have a. LOT i MEAN i assume they're Trading, sabonis so it's gonna be basically just a, cuffball which will And minimunna be fun because he is very fun and very.
00:46:35
Speaker 1: Good are they gonna trade simonas?
00:46:37
Speaker 2: Though, YEAH i guess maybe.
00:46:39
Speaker 1: Not my thing is Like sabonis makes so much fucking money and it's hard to find a team that makes a ton of sense for. Him and, like, frankly If i'm a, CUFF i like to play With sabonis as a pick and roll.
00:46:49
Speaker 2: Partner.
00:46:49
Speaker 1: Yeah did you see the report that the that they might end up buying out To Marta rosen or waving.
00:46:55
Speaker 2: Him.
00:46:56
Speaker 1: YEAH i think it's because his deal is not fully guaranteed next.
00:47:04
Speaker 2: Year oh, Interesting.
00:47:07
Speaker 1: But but, yeah LIKE i, mean it's A Malik Monk Darius acuff. Show they're, In, uh they're In sacramento.
00:47:13
Speaker 2: To guys who love to get get the, ball get.
00:47:16
Speaker 1: Shatza so so So, yeah IF i look at our remaining players, Here Kingston, Flemings Braiden Burry's Yaxa londenborg are the main three guys still on the board at this part of the. DRAFT i Think Braiden burry's is an interesting option in the sense like do you think he could? Play he could Define braiden could definitely play in a winning context right. Away so that's really the trick. Here do you do you feel the need for dribble. Penetration if, so you Go Kingston. Flemings if you feel the need to be like we want a third guard who's going to play, alongside you, know like staggered with Nkhel and AND.
00:48:04
Speaker 2: Cj.
00:48:04
Speaker 1: McCollum Braiden burry's is a great. Option he's good defensive, player good size for the, position, knockdown catch and shoot, guy can play off in advantage played in just like a really good system In, Arizona like that team was just that team just played dead serious basketball on both ends of the. Floor AND i really Enjoyed Burry's and one of the THINGS i really liked About burry's is like he had some pretty bad slumps and the dude just stayed aggressive and got out of, him like he didn't lose his, Confidence like he was able to dig out of those, holes WHICH i thought was impressive for just his. Mentality, YEP i think it's between those. Two there's no Chance yoxville goes.
00:48:36
Speaker 2: HERE i would, Agree AND i Think Brandon burry's if he doesn't go, here it would be a perfect fit next To Cooper flag In. DALLAS i think he would be just a Perfect Dallas. Maverick that's really. Interesting, okay that's really interesting Because i'm a big fan of his and it feels like he is really good at a lot of things and he can maybe and when you are going to be running a lot of offense Through Cooper, flags you don't necessarily need like he's super super super skilled on ball pick point guard type you'd obviously. Do you wouldn't have needed A darius A cuff for example Of, dallas WHERE i Think Brandon burry would be, awesome awesome For, dallas.
00:49:15
Speaker 1: You Keep kyrie in that, INSTANCE i would, think.
00:49:18
Speaker 2: SURE i think he. CAN i Think Brandon BURRY'S i Mean. KYRIE i Think Brandon burgs would be your starting two.
00:49:21
Speaker 1: Guard Kyrie, Bryden, COOPER P. J. Lively it's like and then very center. Position you've Gotten Ajie marshall coming off the, Bench Caleb. Martin Max christie is really good. Too that would be my one thing With burry's is he Redundant With Max, Christy.
00:49:42
Speaker 2: I'm not stressing about. That If I'm, DALLAS i Like Max, christy but Like i'm this is a top, ten top ten. Pick.
00:49:48
Speaker 1: Yeah and the other thing too is like LIKE i Like Kingston, flemings BUT i.
00:49:54
Speaker 2: He is a.
00:49:57
Speaker 1: He is a small guard That i'm not like changing the trajectory of my franchise for.
00:50:04
Speaker 2: Agreed, YEAH i think HE'S i think he's a, cool interesting player that he means super super quick off the dribble and, uh he's a high effort. Defender it'll be interesting to see what kind of it does feel like defense is his second best trait behind his off the dribble, speed and it's. Interesting it'll be interesting to see how impactful he can be at that as a as a sort of small. Player not that he wouldn't be the first guy to be a good defender as a small. Player you, know we're huge fans Of Gary, payton the, second who is a very, small very good.
00:50:33
Speaker 1: Defender Gary payton was an apex, athlete though.
00:50:36
Speaker 2: It's certainly possible And Kingston flemings is a very good, athlete but it'll Be i'm like not sure IF i really believe in the jump, shot and so it'll be he's he of this group of guards if you, like expand it all the way from you, Know, woggler mckel, Brown, Acuff Burry's. Flemings flemmings is probably my least favorite of this, group but he is a really interesting player who if it all sort of lines upright for and it, does and to plind his, CREDIT i will say the reports around his mental and his mentality and HIS iq very very, high like a plus is across the, board AND i think you get a lot of that a lot of benefit also from being in That houston, system similar to The arizona. System it feels like you're playing really, small really serious, basketball and you're getting very serious coaching right. Away SO i think that definitely works in the.
00:51:21
Speaker 1: Favor one thing with the jump, shot eighty five percent on free, throws and when he was unguarded catch and shoot from three he was fifty six. Percent, Okay so those are strong indicators that it's more like he gets his gathered disrupted from like from taking shots off the dribble or when he's rushed or contested and, frankly not that surprising for a guy who's. Small if he's, not frankly not that surprising for a guy that's. Small that's a really good. Point so, like, yeah like there's a certain amount of the jump, shooting there's good indicators that he'll be able to piece some of that. Together he's not going to be the kind of guy that's like consistently knocking down shots over the, top but he should be able to beat, coverages which is a good kind of like a complimentary trait to his ability.
00:52:05
Speaker 2: To get to the.
00:52:07
Speaker 1: Basket but, yeah that's gonna be a really interesting kind of pivot point on the draft, Here Like, atlanta what direction do they? Go what direction Does dallas? Go who the heck Is milwaukee in a take at number? Ten that is a very very interesting That milwaukee at number ten is very very.
00:52:28
Speaker 2: Interesting it feels like they could go any possible, Route like you could see some of these guys who've been rising recently In Nate Amen OR i, meant you, Know Maris, JOHNSON i feel like you go to. Him it feels like they could go a lot of DIFFERENT i could see them Drafting, Mara like they could get real weird with, it which would, also you, know theoretically slot some of these more ready now guys to the more ready now teams In Golden state And Oklahoma.
00:52:50
Speaker 1: City, amen would be an interesting option For. Milwaukee, yeah considering they don't really have anything to gain in the short. Term all, right let's see What atlanta takes.
00:52:58
Speaker 2: Here, yeah it would basically be, Here Kyle kuzma Replacement.
00:53:09
Speaker 1: Kingston. Flemings so they went with drible penetration and. Defense very, interesting very very interesting. THERE i like, AGAIN i like the natural compliment alongside more refined skill, guards AND cj And nikil are both such good catch and shoot. Players nikiel was like legitimately a problem with his inability to kind of break down The knicks defense in that first round. Series he got no.
00:53:35
Speaker 2: Space he was unable to create space in any.
00:53:37
Speaker 1: Form, yeah and it kind of fits the overall team culture of. SPEED i don't hate.
00:53:43
Speaker 2: IT i don't hate it. EITHER i don't.
00:53:45
Speaker 1: Know so now we Know bury's is available For, DALLAS.
00:53:50
Speaker 2: I would assume that's the. PICK i would assume that's the.
00:53:52
Speaker 1: Pick that's really that's really really interesting, though because the alternative would be you Take yaxel and and then you TRADE.
00:54:00
Speaker 2: Pj, washington which isn't a bad option. EITHER i wouldn't LIKE i wouldn't hate that option. Either it does feel like Maybe i'm overthinking the age thing At, yoxyl but it does feel like if you're not plugging him into a team that's ready to be like actually competitive right, now kind of what's the point he's like twenty four years old. Already not that that's, like could that that that? Old but it, certainly, absolutely very clearly Makes he makes more sense for a team that's trying to be in the playoffs and trying to win the playoff series next, season as opposed to a team Like, dallas who's you, know would be happy if they're in the. Playoffs BUT i think they're more like, we you, know we got a long runway.
00:54:38
Speaker 1: Here, YEAH I AND i also think That cooper could is like a three to four. Hybrid it'll be meaning like you could almost go the other direction and be, Like, okay we're going to have lineups where we Play bury's And Max christy at the two three, right and we're going with a lot of spacing Like Kyrie Bury's Kyrie Burry's Christy cooper And lively is a very interesting rangey kind of four out one in spacing. Lineup that is an INTERESTING i mean.
00:55:15
Speaker 2: There's a well where that's a five outline up offensive league. Too lively sort of shown the ability to shoot a jump.
00:55:19
Speaker 1: Channel, Yeah, Lively. Lively it's so he's such a tantalizing player because he can defend in multiple. Coverages you can run, drop you can run high, drop and he can. Switch but it's just so it's, like will you stay healthy and will you show the ability to shoot in the long.
00:55:33
Speaker 2: Run no huge, SURPRISE i suppose is mckel brown the biggest. SURPRISE i think.
00:55:41
Speaker 1: Mickail brown's your easily your biggest. Surprise let's get a question from the.
00:55:47
Speaker 2: Chat, yes let me see, here let me see. Here we had not a question as, much but a super chat from the Homie. Kaitlyn, kaylyn congrats again on The. Knicks he, said what, boys hope your summer is going as well as mine with a trophy Emoji jason glad that hell stuff is all. GOOD i need you at full health glazing my knicks next.
00:56:06
Speaker 1: Year Thanks, KALEN i appreciate you. Man, yeah it's been a weird, week BUT i do feel Like i'm slowly climbing out of. It it feels good to be working. AGAIN i had taken a little bit of a break to handle all my, shit AND i, like we had recorded four episodes Of hoops tonight On wednesday that aired On, Wednesday, Thursday, friday And, monday SO i wasn't working during that, time and it just felt good, to you, know to do The herd yesterday and to do our show today and just kind of have some semblance of. Normalcy we are not going to be staying on for The knicks pick. TODAY i think we're going to stop after Fourteen charlotte Because i'm really curious to see If charlotte Takes coopete because that's WHO i would like to. Take so we won't be going through the whole first round, today but we're gonna have a reaction show On thursday where we kind of like hit all of the other major stories from the. Draft we'll talk about who The lakers end up, taking we'll talk about The nicks end up. Taking, obviously the tail end of the first, round teams Like boston And DENVER i think are going to be interesting picks, Here so we will hit more of the draft when we get To thursday, morning but we'll be going through pick number fourteen.
00:57:07
Speaker 2: Today we just got a really interesting tweet From Sham's he, said have a feeling New Dallas maveris Coach Dusty may will be bringing A wolverine up at number.
00:57:16
Speaker 1: Nine they're gonna Take. Yaxel. Wow, okay So Dusty may did end up getting them to take A michigan.
00:57:23
Speaker 2: Player that's. Wild?
00:57:28
Speaker 1: Why? YEP i think you're. Right that's that's, yeah that's That's sean saying it's going to Be.
00:57:34
Speaker 2: AXEL i mean it could it could. BE i mean it could be any of These michigan.
00:57:38
Speaker 1: GUYS i suppose more As, johnson but then you already have two. Centers.
00:57:42
Speaker 2: YEAH i don't really think any of These michigan guys are really the best possible fit for. Them but you, KNOW. Pj washington does feel like a very a, guy who's very, trainable guy who a lot of teams would be interested.
00:57:53
Speaker 1: In so it could be as simple As Dusty may goes, up goes to THE gm and Goes yaxle's, are, dude we gotta Take?
00:57:58
Speaker 2: Yaxle, yeah for, SURE i, mean if this is you brought In dustin May to to be the, guy you, know if the rightfullet for a long time In.
00:58:06
Speaker 1: Dallas so there's a Chance burry's is available For Golden.
00:58:10
Speaker 2: State If burr's is available For Golden, state that would talk about a home. RUN i, mean that would be a home. RUN i can't imagine he falls that. Far what he just needed any one more?
00:58:22
Speaker 1: Pick and Like milwaukee they've got like you're what A. J green is is kind of like that big physical do everything pretty well?
00:58:31
Speaker 2: Guard all, right here we, go let's see this Is this is so Fascinating.
00:58:42
Speaker 1: Morris. Johnson, Wow Wow. JOHNSON i love How sean's like teased it but liked it. Away like do you think he's under direction FROM espn to not tweet out the picks TO.
00:58:55
Speaker 2: I mean that's the first that's the first time he's tweeted during the. Draft SO i think he was able to sort of like get around the rules of THE espn rules by not actually giving the pickaway but sort of giving as close as you can to the. Pickaway that's so, funny, job what an interesting what a fun draft. RISE i feel like it's all happened in the last week and a. Half, wow that is really. Fascinating that is very Much Cooper flag is our start, forward, right.
00:59:25
Speaker 1: So they're gonna play more as at the, four THEN i would assume it's just going massive they.
00:59:31
Speaker 2: STILL i, mean when Is Daniel gaffer getting? Traded just the Question i've been asking for twenty four for two years. Now but you Have, Lively, Gafford Moris, JOHNSON. Pj, washington And Cooper flag on your.
00:59:43
Speaker 1: Rostaurant that is really really fascinating because like to, Me mores is a four or five, hybrid whereas Like yoxtall is a true. Four mores was thirty four percent on catch and shoot threes last, year but he was forty four percent when he was on but only twenty three, attempts didn't take a ton of.
01:00:02
Speaker 2: Them.
01:00:03
Speaker 1: WOW i am mcked by this seventy nine percent on free, throws which is obviously an encouraging trait. THERE i, THOUGHT i THOUGHT i was really impressed by more as in the. TOURNAMENT i thought he was. ACTIVE i thought he played with the high. MOTOR i thought he uh like showed good feel for the game on both ends of the. FLOOR i think he's a really good basketball.
01:00:22
Speaker 2: Player so now The Golden State, WARRIORS i, mean maybe they want someone, else but they at least have the option of getting Either bury's Or Yaxa.
01:00:30
Speaker 1: Linipoorn they're going to get one of those. Two that's what they.
01:00:33
Speaker 2: Want maybe they go somewhere. Different they absolutely could go somewhere. Different those would be The those are certainly the top two guys on the consensus board for, them at at. Least let's put it this.
01:00:41
Speaker 1: WAY i was saying last, week, like, Yeah bury's Or yaxtall would be the, best but there's very little chance That i'd hear of those guys are, Available and now you are certainly going to be able to get one of. Them, yeah and that decision is going to be made for you BECAUSE i would Assume yaxtall Or burry's is going to.
01:00:57
Speaker 2: Go, NOW i would assume there's All The bucks could certainly go wild. Card here they are.
01:01:02
Speaker 1: The bucks Take yoxl well, a, MAN i don't know If i'm taking yox if on THE i Think i'm Taking. Berry's If I'M i Think i'm Taking berries.
01:01:09
Speaker 2: Too but they could also just go somewhere reel off the board and take someone like i'ment or you, KNOW i could see them going getting a little funky with, it considering they have they're basically blank.
01:01:19
Speaker 1: Slating this is super. Interesting, YEAH i think if i'm If i'm Wow Morris johnson at number, nine this Is.
01:01:28
Speaker 2: I'm shocked by. This and if, if if The bucks go wildcard and The warriors have a decision Between berries And, YOXLEL i would assume It's bury's for two, reasons one higher upside, player but also if you are still if there's still a world where you can trade For Trey Murphy, junior a much more tantalizing trade prospect for The pelicans THAN.
01:01:48
Speaker 1: Yaxcellnf that's an interesting. Point that's an interesting point in that trade could end up getting, done.
01:01:58
Speaker 2: Or maybe The warriors are on the falling with The pelicans right now and they're, like If burry's is, available we will trade You Tremurph. Junior like that's certainly a. Possibility this is that they're Playing.
01:02:06
Speaker 1: Joxill would make so much more sense For milwaukee if they had taken The celtics.
01:02:10
Speaker 2: Package, absolutely, man THAT i, mean that's officially the biggest shock of the first.
01:02:18
Speaker 1: Round Even, yeah more as at number nine is really fascinating for a hybrid four to five on a team that has two fives already and that flag AND. Pj, Washington, yeah AND Pj washington and hybrid three.
01:02:32
Speaker 2: Four it's hilarious that we, were you, know not that long ago, saying, man they got too many buys in the front. COURT i wonder what they're gonna do With Anthony davis and all these. Guys they Treat Anthony davis sort of unclogged that logjam slightly and then just drafted another four or five.
01:02:46
Speaker 1: Hybrid oh my, gosh, man that is super. Fascinating. Yeah, so and, AGAIN i don't know Why milwaukee would Take, yaxel Because yaxell to me is a win now prospect that he He yoxell to me is what he is at this.
01:03:02
Speaker 2: Point, agreed THAT'S i mean with most twenty. FOUR i, mean he'll get he'll get a little, better but you're not going upside With yoxall, man it's gotta Be burry's Fro, milwaukee.
01:03:13
Speaker 1: Right it's gotta Be. BURY'S i would be really surprised if it's Not. Bury's all, right let's get a question from the chat while we're waiting.
01:03:19
Speaker 3: Here, Okay, okay, okay the rumors are they're Trading, gafferg they Trade.
01:03:30
Speaker 2: Lively. Yeah do you like the The Trey murphy And Golden. State we've had a couple questions about.
01:03:34
Speaker 1: THAT i, thought you, Know trey was interesting because there were times WHEN i was watching him last year And i'm, like, man he's really showcasing the ability to do more off the, bounce but it didn't show in the. Numbers he was not an efficient shot creator like in a larger sample like per possession. Basis and that is always a little tricky BECAUSE i wouldn't exactly call The pelicans the most like conducive environment for scoring in terms of, spacing Like Herb jones was like banged up and didn't shoot the ball. Well Obviously Zion williamson doesn't space the. Floor they're kind of a disaster at the five. Spot so, LIKE i want to cut him a little bit of slack. THERE i am a believer In Trey. MURPHY i just View trey as a guy that like if he's on the floor Alongside Steph curry And Draymond green and they Signed lebron to the mid level, EXCEPTION i like love, it you know, WHAT i, mean but, LIKE i also don't think he's the guy that's going to lead the new era Of warriors. Basketball AND i also don't think he's the guy that's GOING i also don't think he's the guy that, like, oh he's going to be able to generate the offense at a super high level When steph's.
01:04:42
Speaker 2: Off the, Floor, Okay, yeah and that makes it a little.
01:04:44
Speaker 1: Tricky, Yeah LIKE i think if you GOT i think if you Got Trey murphy and you Sign, lebron that's a really interesting he all of a sudden, team.
01:04:57
Speaker 2: Especially Because murphy is, sneaky very, tall, yeah oh, yeah very, long has very long. Arms so if you get you have if you Have Trey, Murphy Lebron, james And Draymond green on the, floor you are all of a sudden Very you're not named on the, floor on the, roster you're all of a sudden extremely versatile at the front.
01:05:14
Speaker 1: Court, Yeah and like we always have liked the idea of a really good shooter that's a counterbalance To Steph lebron playing with multiple high level catch and shoot. Talents The Draymond green piece with The warriors is always a little bit. Weird BUT i also think he's kind of tradable at this. Point all, right let's see what we got at number.
01:05:31
Speaker 2: Ten oh, man oh, Man, burry's it's gonna Be. Burri's it's gotta Be. Berry's right, there it Is.
01:05:39
Speaker 1: Burry's, OKAY i like. IT i Like Aj green a lot. Too BUT i also, think as we talked about, EARLIER i think having three really, good playable guards makes a ton of. Sense And, Rolins, burry's And green are three guards that can all, dribble, pass, shoot and. Defend AND i think that's a strong foundation for The MILWAUKEE i don't think any of these dudes Are we'll see you With rollins in the long. Run but like The bucks went from having probably the worst defensive backcourt in THE nba a couple of years ago With Gary Trenton dame to like now they have like a, legitimate like, big, physical two way. Backcourt that's A i think that's a real nice foundation for them moving.
01:06:19
Speaker 2: Forward it's funny With burris too going there specifically BECAUSE i saw a couple of PLACES i forget which draft gout it. WAS i read a couple that Had Ryan rollands as the con Forbidden, berrys WHICH i think IS i think is kind of fun and. Accurate and also now it's on it that they're on in the same exact.
01:06:33
Speaker 1: BACKCOURT i just Think burry's is the obvious direction they're, Considering like he's the best combination of like potential upside but also like immediate. Utility, yeah, so, Uh, yaxel it's gotta be. Right here's what's weird with The axel he Plays lebron's. Position are you out of The lebron race if you TAKE.
01:07:04
Speaker 2: I don't think The warriors are out of The lebron race no matter what happens this, Summer but that is. FUNNY I i don't think you're in a terrible. SPOT i, MEAN i THINK i think You're you're absolutely able to talk yourself Into Lebron Yaxl draymond front court of a closing lineup and being, like, Yeah draymond is just not the. Same he's still very, good still very, useful but not the Same draymond that he has, been you know in past and certainly not as impactful as a as a rebounder as he has been in the past. Year so you definitely need more and and, frankly even when The warriors were in their, prime they're their best groups were with a little bit more size in the small for and powerful position than they have. Met, yeah SO i THINK i think being able to have a bigger small for power, forward if That's Lebron james And Jaxcell londenborg next To Draymond, green is probably better for For Draymond green to be.
01:07:53
Speaker 1: Successful, YEAH i. AGREE i, think, MAN i think you take him no matter, what because Also lebron is a long, shot right And yoxhall is a perfect Fitting Golden state in the sense, that, like there wasn't really a guy in this part of the draft that was a long term upside pick except for like super super rixie, picks like a risky, picks like a meant right and at that, point and like it wasn't like there was A Caleb wilson where it's, like, oh this guy could be our foundational piece moving forward. Potentially so you're basically looking, at do we have a player that accomplishes two goals in the short, term can play Alongside Steph curry and help them, win but, also like let's say two years from, Now steph retires And yoxall's got two years left on his rookie deal and you don't really see him as a long term. Fit he's twenty six years old at this. POINT i think he's very, Tradable so as a guy that could like you could send as a like a in a star trade or just in terms of you, know taking a chance on a more high, Up i'd pick elsewhere in the.
01:09:01
Speaker 2: League, yeah if IT'S i would assume as yaxle. HERE i ALSO i also again not that you're drafting for this, reason but you definitely do not want to be gift Wrapping jackxceleninburg to The Oklahoma City, thunder but.
01:09:12
Speaker 1: That you are going to have to look's like a beat.
01:09:14
Speaker 2: To get out of The, west which is there maybe if it's not, realistic but it's their goal certainly to get out of The. West so you don't really want to gift wrap them for. Him but if it's Not, yaxcelendenborg if they if they do go an alternative route, here who do you? THINK i mean they were mocked file on a. LOT i Like LeBaron file on a. Lot but who who is another? Option if it's not going to Be. Eaccelendinborg you THINK.
01:09:37
Speaker 1: I don't LIKE i don't like any of these guys for, Them like the, centers you're you're passing On steinbackamara, AGAIN i just don't. THINK i don't Think Golden state takes the center because they have two playable centers right, now maybe three if they can Get porzingis to come back on a. DISCOUNT i don't think they take a mint BECAUSE i think That's jonathan kaminga two point Zero, god it's like, obvious very different. Player BUT i just, mean, LIKE i don't think he's going to be able to play for them right. Away And swayin is kind of an, interesting Like Golden state type of, player where like you wonder if he can be a guy that can play Alongside steph off of the advantages he. Creates BUT i feel like that's an overdraft taking him at. Eleven.
01:10:19
Speaker 2: Right there were some rumors about them potentially trading.
01:10:21
Speaker 1: Back, yeah and that's on the table. Here definitely got to say we'll keep an eye on the the Sham serrania twitter. Page, MAN i wonder if they even conceptualized that that he could fall to him, here okay, now AND i Like, pilon BUT i think that's an overdraft over the Oxyle in the short.
01:10:40
Speaker 2: Term, yeah, yeah they're showing they got the warrim. Shot no no high fives and claps, Yet, yeah no high fives and cape delay, presumably but there are no no high fives, yet so we'll. Uh you Got joe lakeb in there making. Calls it looks, like, yeah he's uh get some last minute mister upside as he Loved Jonathan, Kmingo so it would be interesting if they go.
01:11:06
Speaker 1: Down, yeah And yaxell's not Upside, no but like, again that dude's not on the board right, now.
01:11:12
Speaker 2: RIGHT i just, yeah it's just not on the. BOARD i think all the upside, guys.
01:11:17
Speaker 1: Let's get a question Over.
01:11:17
Speaker 2: Wayne there's a lot Of warriors should should not overthink the Lebron Yaxell jaxel double double fit. SITUATE i. AGREE i agree with that we got a best who'd like For, charlotte who's sort of about the back end OF i think they're fourteen IF i remember, CORRECTLY i really like Co opete for For.
01:11:42
Speaker 1: CHARLOTTE i could see them like if a if Like amara is still on the board because Like Musid diabat doesn't bring a ton of physicality to the. Position, uh and like obviously can be like a guy who can let them play out of the post a little bit as a switch. Beater so MAR i think If marra drops to, fourteen it'd be worth. Consideration BUT i mean they Have Kyl brenner, too so LIKE i think they're THE i really Like coopede for, THEM i really.
01:12:10
Speaker 2: DO i Like coepete a. LOT i didn't watch them Have arizona in the regular, season BUT i watched them in the. Tournament i've watched some tape in the after and he's. Awesome guy's just a.
01:12:17
Speaker 1: Dog when things fell apart For arizona as the tournament, progressed he was their most reliable guy because he just was an absolute load to deal with driving to the back as a. Truck and he definitely has some jump shooting, limitations WHICH i think are worth mentioning in this. Case BUT i think on a team Like charlotte that is such a strong jump shooting, team off of, HIM i think there's a lot of like utility. There LIKE i JUST i imagine him running a lot of action with their.
01:12:46
Speaker 2: Guards, YEAH i mean HE'S i think he's a he's a basketball. Player he's a guy who can even play play the sport kind of no matter where he.
01:12:54
Speaker 1: Is he was five for eight on unguarded catch and shoot threes and sixty two percent on free, throws which is a big scary.
01:13:01
Speaker 2: Marker. Yeah, yeah the jumper doesn't look super, reliable BUT i, agree AND i think he's Just he's just a guy who can do a lot of things. Well and if if you got, to if you got a place that you're, missing having a sort of counterbalanced superpower is certainly. Helpful and he is just being able to just be an absolute truck and be able to theoretically he becomes like a switch, beater and he can get, downhill especially to your point of view if you're, running if you're able to run some some inverted stuff with him as a ball handler once he gets, DOWNHILL i, mean he's just so hard to. Stop if you can get y on ball action with the smaller guys screening for, HIM i think that's kind of stuff theoretically can at least help counteract and balance out the lack of Shooting lary's picks in we're waiting the Oxel.
01:13:49
Speaker 1: Ndenborg there you, go all, right the rout of The lebron sweepstakes now And i'm just. KIDDING i agree about the idea of not overthinking The lebron. Fit Alongside, YAXL i think a couple of. Things one like like yox is probably not gonna go play thirty five minutes a night right, away you, Know like that's how it is with these young. PLAYERS i think, that, UH i think that there's an advantage to having depth at the. Position, well, like let's take this a step. Further, GISANTOS i, think is a. Four, yeah so he's kind of g to be, Honest.
01:14:24
Speaker 2: Yeah he.
01:14:25
Speaker 1: Is he's a lot LIKE i think he's actually a lot Like ganto's in that specific. SENSE i think he's got a little bit more athleticism in the open, floor a little bit more juice off the. Bounce BUT i, LIKE i think he is a great. Player so there we're dealing with a little bit of a glut in The warriors front, court.
01:14:44
Speaker 2: Which is something you have not been able to.
01:14:45
Speaker 1: Say, yeah like you've Got, Horford, Draymond yaxel And ghee and you're trying to make a pitch for A lebron. Deal, yeah That's. Steph that's only. Interesting BUT i also think Like gisantos is not a really favorable. Contract he could be included in A Trey murphy. DEAL i also don't think it's off the, table like you, said For yaxil to be included in a Trade murphy. Deal, yeah and we have seen dudes get drafted on draft night and get traded in the weeks.
01:15:16
Speaker 2: Following we have ABSOLUTELY i THINK i think this IS i, mean she's just a great pick for, them regardless of the slight log game in the front. Court it's the first time in a while THAT i feel like The warriors fans have been able to, say, like, man WE i actually love that that pick that. Made they had a lot of picks that they're, like, uh, maybe BUT i don't. Know this feels like a, real really solid pick at.
01:15:37
Speaker 1: ELEVEN i think he's the obvious guy you have to take at this spot in the draft BECAUSE i, mean we're about to talk okay, see and it's kind of hard to figure out what they're going to do. Now the thing was okay, see that's. Weird Is chet theoretically is a guy who could play the, five although a lot of people view him as a four because of his lack of. Physicality Tamas orber is a very, interesting, like, uh like he ended up having THE acl, there but he's a guy that is another kind of four or five. Hybrid they don't really have like a legit beast, center you, know in house other Than Isaiah. Hartenstein and maybe they just View Isaiah hartenstein as their, solution just re upping with. Him, yeah But i'll BE i wonder If okse ends up taking a five.
01:16:18
Speaker 2: Here i'm sure they would have Loved Maris johnson if he, had if he had fallen at this.
01:16:21
Speaker 1: Spot he kind of feels, like oh my, god Thank, god Thank, god thank God yoxall and more like to your, point Like Golden state can't pass On yoxle and let yoxtell go to Ok, see, right it's gonna be So. Is it's probably gonna be Maor, steinbeck, right probably probably because they can't take another dude who can't shoot like swayin.
01:16:40
Speaker 2: Right, NO i just don't, know like, What, YEAH i guess IT'S i, Guess, MARA i guess you kind of need a third sort of center. Option i'm just sort of like he just doesn't feel very thundering to. Me he doesn't feel like he can he's doing what playing the way The thunder want to.
01:16:56
Speaker 1: Play, YEAH i don't love the mar fit With Okay see, either BUT i THINK i think that's probably who they're gonna.
01:17:03
Speaker 2: Take, YEAH i think you're probably right.
01:17:08
Speaker 1: Man and then in this, case after, That miami's back on the. Clock Well, milwaukee excuse, Me milwaukee's back on the. CLOCK i wonder If milwaukee ends up taking a, center.
01:17:20
Speaker 2: They can take a. CENTER i still think they're a good. Man destination is sort of like they got their sort of higher floor guy In berry's might as well take a big swim with the, Guy, like, amen this IS i mean talk about it is a dream fit for The. Warriors it's also a dreamfit for Yax lenenborg being able To yaxlenenborg and being able to transfer To michigan and win a national. Championship and now you could draft to The Golden State warriors and play side staff and hopefully in high leverage basketball. Games like what a what an, awesome awesome journey for Yaxlenden. Borg the dude's, crying it's he's just so. Happy it's awesome to see.
01:17:51
Speaker 1: HIM i View yoxall is like if the jump shot can come around to being more, reliable and He i'll pull up the. Numbers numbers they. WERE i feel like they were. Decent they were. Decent it's WHAT i. Mean the reason WHY i say that is LIKE i kind of view him as like a, better a much better version Of Ruy hachimura in the sense that he's this, big physical power. Forward But ruy sucked at read and react. Basketball yoxle's good at, it great at, it And ruy's bad. Rebounder yoxle's good at, it and those are the two kind of foundational. Differences the difference is is like you leave Ru hachimura, open that shit's going in every. Time like that's that's the primary. Difference yaxlel was thirty eight percent overall and catch and shoot threes twenty nine percent when he was, guarded forty five percent when he was wide.
01:18:35
Speaker 2: Open got.
01:18:36
Speaker 1: It we have eighty three percent from the free throw, line so really strong foundational shooting. Traits there have.
01:18:43
Speaker 2: Some warrioror Some thunder stuff in the. Chat we have The homie will he, said if if we draft, Ament i'm. Done, Uh and then we have The uno asking why did The thunder not trade? Up which is an interesting question definitely something we thought was on the table.
01:18:56
Speaker 1: Tonight it's a combination of. Things it could be teams not wanting to do, business, okay see because how good they. Are it could be the teams above them liking the guys that they had available to them at those spots in the. Draft and again we're in We're the drop off for me is After yoxul you get into like you're getting into bigs that are somewhat slow. Footed you're getting into wings and guards that are more flawed than the guys that were above them in the. Draft so like IT'S i could see the guys in that top eleven just frankly not wanting to give up their.
01:19:27
Speaker 2: Position, well this is going to be an interesting. ONE i mean the next, two the next as we close, it the lottery here with the thunder says the, heat and it's gonna say the heat on the broadcast as. Well but as the bucks and then The hornets and then the bulls sort of at, fifteen which is probably where we'll wrap. Up all very interesting, teams all very either you, know the thunder and The hornets are like we want we're ready to. Win obviously the thunder to, win but the hornets as well whereas The bucks and The bulls are sort of in full, on sort of reconstruct. Mode it is going to be very interesting to see his last few picks go here for.
01:20:02
Speaker 1: Us, yeah these last three picks are super interesting to. Me you have a team that right now is second in championship obs just picking twelve in the, draft so who they take is going to be really. Fascinating you Have milwaukee as they start their rebuild Post. Giannis, uh and they're kind of in a chunk of the draft that's very center, heavy and they have two centers In kellaware and uh, right uh god him blinking on his. Name all of this a Sudden miles turner on the. Team But charlotte is the One i'm super super interested in BECAUSE i Think charlotte is like the obvious team that like is poised for a leap next season and their pick here could be very. Transformational let's see, here Dimra, okay.
01:20:43
Speaker 2: Very.
01:20:43
Speaker 1: INTERESTING i MEAN i don't so He's this is what what makes this kind of fascinating is if they if they take the team option On, hartenstein Mar is out of the. Rotation if they Extend Hartenstein mars out of the, rotation, right, like no chance he plays if they're. Healthy LIKE i would even argue that on day One Jay will is ahead of him in the. Rotation oh.
01:21:19
Speaker 2: Definitely so.
01:21:23
Speaker 1: This is this is. Interesting and he's.
01:21:25
Speaker 2: A slightly not, old he's an old, prospect but he is he's you, know he played like three years in. COLLEGE i want to say he.
01:21:31
Speaker 1: Played he is.
01:21:31
Speaker 2: Older he played AT ucla a couple of seasons before. Transferred so he's not he's not you, know he's not nineteen eighteen nineteen with, law not not, again not twenty, one not. Old it's not Yax, lenenborg for, example but he's he's not twenty nineteen.
01:21:43
Speaker 1: Either he'll turn twenty two in the final couple weeks of the regular season next.
01:21:48
Speaker 2: Year.
01:21:50
Speaker 1: Uh AND i like mar but Like, Mara marv's got a little post. Game he really good feel for the game, guy which of course meshes with, okay see really, well pretty good touch IF i remember, Correctly i'm pulling up the numbers for you. Guys he uh did not shoot well on free throws fifty six, percent but he had forty percent on hooks on pretty high. Volume that's decent. Touch seventy two percent on layups seventy seven percent at the rim, overall didn't he only took Seventy he only took seventeen catch and shoot jump shots all, year eleven from three he was twenty seven percent. There did shoot pretty well from mid range, though he's seven for eleven on mid range jump, shots pretty low. Volume, again this IS i understand okay see Taking mara here because he's just probably the best player. Available like that's, very very simply the. Case but like this is probably the best case scenario for the rest of the league because that De mara just does not Impact okayse's title chances next.
01:22:48
Speaker 2: Year, yeah it doesn't at, ALL i do, think and they're highlighting on the broadcast now as well that his passing ability is a pretty underrated WHICH i think they do a lot of With. Hardenstein not, again not THAT i don't think either us think it's going to be a direct swap and sort of, immediately but if you're thinking long term future in terms of what the thunder like out of their centers being able to defend the biggest players on the floor and be able to be a high post Passing fulkrim Like hartenstein's, doing and have the sort of that short role short range touch he checks. Somehow Isiah hartenstein's style boxes for?
01:23:20
Speaker 1: Sure, YEAH i JUST i think this is the best case scenario for the rest of the league because if Oka see for whatever reason doesn't pick Up hartenstein's team option to save money and they're Like mara's are starting five the thunder or lesser basketball, dotors and that's that's helpful for the.
01:23:38
Speaker 2: League if they Keep.
01:23:40
Speaker 1: Isaiah, Hartenstein mara's not in the rotation except for random regular season nights when chet Or hartenstein are, out and even then he, again like we, said he's probably Behind Jay. Will so, LIKE i think this is probably the best case scenario for the rest of the league as far as one of the top tier contenders not getting like a transformational. TALENT i want to to ask, you, uh because we're not going to be around for number twenty, tonight who's your favorite player For San.
01:24:06
Speaker 2: Antonio it's a good, question and we got a couple of people asking that in the chat as. Well they could go so many different. ROUTES i, mean if CO O pete's available for, THEM i LIKE CoA pete for them as like a bully. Option they didn't REALLY i don't really have any sort of bully style. PLAYERS i, mean That's Dylan. HARPER i guess Is Keldon, Johnson, Yeah Kelton, JOHNSON i, KNOW i mean he's he would basically be a Great Kelvin.
01:24:28
Speaker 1: Johnson, YE a bigger version of. Him.
01:24:30
Speaker 2: YEAH i like CoA pete for. THEM i don't, know it's. TOUGH i, MEAN i Think Joshua jefferson is just very. GOOD i think Josh jefferson's a guy like you can't, shoot, obviously but he's just very. Good it's hard to. Think it's hard to imagine them in drafting a guard with their current guard. Situation but then, again it does feel Like Darren fox is not going to be on the roster past like twenty twenty, Eight so maybe maybe you do draft a, guard in which CASE i Like Christian. ANDERSON i like The texas tech. GUY i THINK i Like Alan graves a. Lot, Actually Alan Alan graves is another guy WHO i think is sort of could fill that sort of power forward role for.
01:25:01
Speaker 1: THEM i have not scouted him yet this.
01:25:03
Speaker 2: Year he's, fun and there was a tape going around of just his how good his hands. Are he's making these crazy catches on these horrible, feeds like the lower Level Santa clara guards because like short Role, kennedy he's, like get his crazy underrated, trade by the way underrated. Trade i'm like he feels like he just feels like one of those. Guys he's, like oh, right this, dude he's just a. Hooper you can kind of do a lot of.
01:25:23
Speaker 1: Things, well that was My Like Jordan goodwin was the first guy WHERE i was like when he was WHEN i was written for him on The lakers and, like, oh this dude just has magnet, hands which is just a huge. Value ADD i Like bennett starts For San antonio BECAUSE i really like for them to have just a, legitimate like uh like like chaos causing. Shooter Joshua jefferson is a guy That i'd also like For. CHARLOTTE i just think it's a little bit of an overdraft up at, fourteen but LIKE i like THE i like the idea of complimentary traits and the. Like even though he's not the bullyball player that Co O pete, is he's just kind of like a big physical ball handling player THAT i think would have the ability to break defenses down that are more, physical that are causing problems for some of their, guards like we saw in the uh the play in.
01:26:11
Speaker 2: Game for, SURE i Like. Starts that's a good. Call i'm A i'm A startz. Fan not only is he a lights out, shooter he has real serious pick and roll chops and which ran a ton of them and just he just ran a bunch of. Them he's also an iron. Man he basically played every minute of every game for his entire college, career which is not necessarily what he would be doing in Tan, antonio but it's just a cool thing about. Him but the pick and roll stuff feels relevant in a in a post deer In fox world where you're looking for who can come in when one of or if both Of Dylan harpern Staff On castle on the, bench who can help generate just good offense for us in the world Where Victory, bamba you, know it sort of remains to be seen what what his offensive, initiator you, know ceiling is looks like and beyond his current his current. Form SO i do Like stearts for. Them that's a good. Call.
01:27:06
Speaker 1: Yeah the only because like WHAT i would like With sturtz is the idea of him being able to run ball screens With wemby and actually pull the big up to the level in a way that could kind of open up things for him on the. Roll starts shot extremely well off the. Catch he was forty nine percent on catch and shoot threes last, year but he was only thirty one percent off the dribble and specifically thirty two percent off the dribble on threes in pick and, roll which again like one of the THINGS i noticed BECAUSE i REMEMBER i remember watching this with Like Dalton connect where it was, like, oh, LIKE i think he's gonna be able to Get Anthony davis open on, rolls and it's, like, actually what you end up seeing in THE nba is like NO nba team actually comes up to the level on you until you really demonstrate the ability to beat. Them and there are a lot of like perceived good shooters in THE. Nba that's he dropped, coverage, yeah because teams are, like, yeah, yeah you're a, shooter but let's see you make a bunch of these like kind of tougher. Shots and so that would be kind of like the pivot point For starts is like can he actually hit enough to where teams actually react to him as a shooter like off of off ball screens three for eight from three that's not like like. It there's a pretty handoffs twenty thirty, Five like there's a pretty big drop off for him from like spot up situations to Like i'm actually coming off of an action and uh like beating a coverage off the. Move and but, YEAH i Like starts is a GUY i like for San. Antonium, again a copete dropped t'd be interesting. Too but two more picks, Tonight like we've got a couple more minutes, Here let's, uh let's take another, question.
01:28:41
Speaker 2: Let's do. It what do we got? Here someone just had A wemby stopper A. Daymara is that a reaction to losing to this burds drafting a seven three?
01:28:49
Speaker 1: DAYS i Think wenby would cause big problems for a Day. MARK i think the, big really upright centers are gonna always struggle. WITH i think the centers that are going to Give wenby issues are The Moriics johnson, types like the six nine six', ten physical. Pretty, athletic laterally, you Know even hartenstein kind of fits into.
01:29:06
Speaker 2: THAT role a question On The adae, mara front who do you think is more likely to be on the roster in three years at Dam Or. Thomas sorber.
01:29:16
Speaker 1: That's interesting it's so hard to Tell with sorber because we haven't seen him a play IN THE nba i a lot, OF it. I think i think that's kind of the other interesting thing WITH this okac piece, is like now you technically have five dudes who can play the center if you're Factoring. In, sorber right here comes the. Heat pick let's.
01:29:35
Speaker 2: See and for, the record on my graphic on, This show i'm putting. THE bucks i don't care what the deviator rules.
01:29:40
Speaker 1: Are, Ammens okay so they went with a Mint At so milwaukee goes for the. Upside pick that, makes sense makes, total sense that makes, perfect sense get picked under.
01:29:54
Speaker 2: The, Circumstances yeah i'm not like the biggest super fan, of MOMENT but i mean definitely makes sense.
01:29:59
Speaker 1: For, them YEAH it's i the upside forwards are always just so difficult. To evaluate and the jump shot it just the jump shot was bad. Last year that always. Concerns me the kind of like the one thing with the jump shot that you're looking at with ament that's encouraging is the. Free throws but it didn't show up on open like he was twenty one for sixty one on unguarded catch and shoot threes, last year and that always is like just a little freaky.
01:30:26
Speaker 2: To me.
01:30:29
Speaker 1: But he's got, Like that he's got like some clear ball skill that is that is fascinating for.
01:30:35
Speaker 2: His, position yes and THAT'S what i was. Gonna say that feels a little different from the guy that we, Mentioned Earlier jonathan Kaminga is kaminga is a better sort of, downhill, athlete certainly but it does Feel like ahmed has a much more natural feel for the Basketball Than jonathan. Kaminga does even if the shooting numbers don't sort of translit, right away it feels like He has kaminga sometimes when you watch him like handle the basketball both dribbling, and catching and we loads up, his shot, you're like. He doesn't and he's a guy guy who picked the basketball kind. Of late, you know he doesn't feel like he's a natural feel for just like controlling.
01:31:10
Speaker 1: The, basketball yeah like like fluidity like ye.
01:31:13
Speaker 2: Electric athlete, No question but ament feels like he has a little bit, more fluidity a little more natural sort of basketball feel to me than a Guy like.
01:31:22
Speaker 1: Kuminga does it's A Little jalen johnson a.
01:31:26
Speaker 3: Little.
01:31:26
Speaker 1: Bit yeah the one thing that freaks me out There Is jalen johnson was like kind of a high assistant turnover guy And a mint was a one to one assistant, turnover ratio which kind of freaks me out a. Little bit but he was high volume, in ASSISTS which i would give him some credit. For there but this is the obvious Pick for milwaukee at. This spot it's an.
01:31:47
Speaker 2: Upside guy as we are wait the last pick the guys, next pick Which. Is charlotte we got a question the chat who if you if you got a guess? Right now who is the starting center For The Los angeles Lakers On? Opening night.
01:32:06
Speaker 1: It's so hard to get a feel. FOR this i had, to, guess man this is such a. Great question there's a lot of these like lower level guys because like when you look at like the bi this Idea that luca wants like a, foundational, center right one of the Things that i've looked at this offseason is like unless It's, like gobert WHICH again i don't think is happening your best like especially now That like naseerite is effectively you're Starting For walker kessler is really the only foundational CENTER that i see on the. BOARD here i Don't Think mitchell robinson is like a starting like. FOUNDATIONAL center i Don't Think robert williams is like a starting foundational center with his. Health history claxton's basically off, the BOARD and i was kind of off of. Him anyway, you know we'll see if they end up drafting somebody at, twenty FIVE but, i, Don't like i'm not a huge fan of the Centers like quaintance in his. Knee injury it's less about that to me than the fact that Like a quaintance, to me is an excellent. Defensive PROSPECT but i don't think he's like, your stereotypical like big vertical spacing window type, of player Like Like derek, lively was, for example so Kell a ware, SIMILARLY like i don't think any of THE guys i mentioned Other Than walker kessler would Start Over deandreydon and that's what specifically. Concerns, ME yeah i.
01:33:45
Speaker 2: Think, THE unfortunately i think For, THE lakers i think the most likely outcome as someone who was on their roster, last year Whether It's jackson Hayes. OR deandreiden, i do and someone just threw this out in. THE chat i do Wonder If daniel gaffard is more available for trade now that they just drafted More. As johnson very possible curious if There's A daniel, gafford trade that WOULD be, i mean obviously great uh Chemistry with lukadancich wine that already from a, lot STANDPOINT so i think that. Would be if, THAT'S gettable i would BEG and i like.
01:34:12
Speaker 1: ME too I like gafford More. Than ATON but i also Don't think gafford is like exactly like this massive needle, mover either so. It's, TRICKY yeah, I mean i don't think he's to the point of the.
01:34:23
Speaker 2: WORD foundational i don't think, he's, like you're this is our Guy With luka dancic for the rest of for the next five. Years GUY but i DO think i think he's actually quite a quite a big upgrade personally, FOR.
01:34:34
Speaker 1: Me i agree. With you what he is is He's He's jackson hayes with, more rimm deterrence and just overall about better like flexibility, because, like again you're gonna Be paying austin a lot of money and you're getting a guy for less than, twenty million who's a starting caliber Version Of. Jackson hayes you like Him and jackson together as a one, two punch you might be able To convince ayton to drop his player option based on the fact that he's out of. The, rotation, yeah.
01:35:09
Speaker 2: Yeah, YOU know, i LIKE and. I didn't. I didn't i looked up. HIS contracts i wasn't exactly sure where it, was at and it's just three, more years all under twenty million dollars. A YEAR so, i mean that's a pretty good number for.
01:35:21
Speaker 1: A guy that's a pretty good that's a pretty good number for. A guy, like again like when you're talking starting centers IN, the nba they tend to like track up towards like twenty five. THIRTY million I think gafford's like your text like he's your textbook like guy who. Can start but like in an, ideal universe he's not your like your go to five at the end of a big. Playoff game, but again when you look at, the board there's just not a lot of. Great options it's not really a situation where you're, you're, like, oh like we got to go get. This guy it's not like it's, not like, you know how like all the teams that need a three Or Like trey murphy's, Our, guy like there's not really a guy like that at the center position, right now And the lakers can't even afford a Guy Like. Trey, murphy anyway.
01:36:01
Speaker 2: That guy was kind of. A question but he's gonna Be a utah. Jass.
01:36:05
Speaker 1: Member yeah to answer, THE question i.
01:36:09
Speaker 2: THINK it.
01:36:13
Speaker 1: I think it's most likely one of the guys on, the ROSTER like i, for instance like Let's say gafford cost, of first would you rather pay a First for gafford or just play at and?
01:36:24
Speaker 2: Play eight?
01:36:24
Speaker 1: And again you KNOW what? I mean i.
01:36:25
Speaker 2: Don't know we have a trade, to announce oh by as part of deal to be. Finalized later, woh oh they're just announcing That the Nate the amen trade that He's.
01:36:38
Speaker 1: A Thanks, Adam silver.
01:36:41
Speaker 2: Thanks buddy okay with.
01:36:42
Speaker 1: The, foe okay let's get. This one let's pick and we'll react to it and then we'll call it. A.
01:36:45
Speaker 2: Night Wow, Honna STEINBACH what i am surprised by. That? ONE what i don't, hate it but.
01:37:03
Speaker 1: It's sort of so this is like your textbook like kind of does everything well type of center from from from the brief bit of Research that i've done, on HIM but I just i think.
01:37:14
Speaker 2: It's, REDUNDANT yeah i was gonna say it feels kind of like he kind of Feels Like caulk runner.
01:37:18
Speaker 1: To, me yeah he's he's kind of in that caliber of like just does. Everything well, rebounds well can run basic. Drop coverages he was like forty percent on hooks. Last year showed a little bit of ability to play out of, the post but he was under a point per possession on a pretty large sample of, post ups like. There was he's not a DUDE that i think is particularly great at anything at the. Center spot so that's a really really interesting pick.
01:37:43
Speaker 2: For, sure yeah and like he projects to be a shooter at, three point a guy who can stretch the floor a, little bit but he certainly Doesn't have we always we talk a lot about having, a superpower and even guys who are dropped at this point the draft later they might have a lot of, more flaws but oftentimes they have a superpower and those ARE the i find the guys to be a LITTLE more i like to target a little bit more And doesn't AND maybe i need to do a, better SCOUT but i don't Feel like steinbach has really anything that he does super. Incredibly well and then like be an offensive rebounder and he's not.
01:38:13
Speaker 1: Like and that's something that Literally kuk Brenner and diabata are both great at, right.
01:38:17
Speaker 2: Right and he's not even like the offensive rebounder in. The class he's just like it's just his. Best skill it's not like it's really dramatic how he's this dominant. Offensive rebounder he just he's a pretty good.
01:38:26
Speaker 1: Offensive, rebounder WELL this i wanted to stick Around for charlotte because that to me was the most interesting kind of like mid, round pick and they ended up taking probably the least interesting option under the circumstances of my closing, thoughts tonight really not a whole lot to say that we went shock at the top of. The draft we saw basically like team needs at positions end Up pushing. Yaxel back the cutoff ended up working nicely SO that okac didn't end up getting anybody that dramatically changed their. TITLE odds i Think The golden state having is a really interesting kind of glut at the, front court which is interesting, to consider not even just in the short Term, without lebron but in the short Term, With lebron like there's a.
01:39:11
Speaker 2: Lot to just.
01:39:12
Speaker 1: Consider There With golden state and like how their front court rotation shakes out. This year miami or, Excuse me milwaukee ends up going Upside with ament. At thirteen that was Interesting and charlott ends up drafting. Another center really. Really strange you kind of picked there a lot of a lot of interesting spots for. Our guards sacramento does The most sacramento, Thing. Ever burry's Burry's in milwaukee creates a really interesting backcourt. For Them kingston flemings is a dribble penetration Guy alongside atlanta kind of like a lot of stuff that. Made sense And then, I'd Say michael brown And, and steinbacker you're two kind of like bizarre picks in that.
01:39:49
Speaker 2: Top, fourteen, Yep AGREED and i got my h h name big. MEN wrong i was Thinking Of. Henry vsar steinbeck is a good is a Great rebound he was like the best rebounder in. The country but still it does feel a bit redundant with.
01:40:03
Speaker 1: But that's what that's Literally what Calkbrender and diabaate mashed teams on the offensive glass. All year and it's, just again it's just kind of. Like redundant, and maybe, who knows maybe this ends up being a situation where they end up trading one of those other centers as part of a deal to try to get like like maybe THEY'RE The pj, washington team, you know something along. Those lines but well. WE'LL see, i Mean calk rerender's on his rookie deal for, A while diabate still has another year on. His, deal like you've got a center rotation of like a pretty solid center rotation that's making five million less than five million. Next year, it's crazy and you just took a. Third one so any last last thoughts before we get out of. Here, tonight no, it's.
01:40:46
Speaker 2: Fun man we'll Be back thursday with a MORE Full nba draft recap. Style episode, so yep we are done, for tonight done, for tomorrow but we Will have.
