Speaker 1: Hello and welcome to The Update. I'm Michelle Stevenson. Well, the Coalition has outlined plans to save $ 31 billion from the federal budget to help fund its proposed income tax cuts. The opposition says it would slash climate and housing bureaucracy, wind back government subsidies and restrict access to the NDIS to Australian citizens. Liberal leader Angus Taylor says the savings would help put more money back into the pockets of Aussie households. We know... that it is absolutely critical at this time to control spending and ensure the economy grows faster than spending in order to bring down inflation and interest rates. While Angus Taylor has also demanded to know how many more businesses must close before Labor scraps its changes to the tax and negative gearing, Anthony Albanese, though, has defended the government's approach, saying small businesses were consulted over the measures. We lifted the definitions. from the previous two to 10 million that made an enormous difference as well as a result of the consultation that we committed to. In the past 18 months, local brands Q, Veronica Bain, Betts, Wittner and Jeans West have all gone under. Australia's second largest supplier of fresh produce has admitted to cartel conduct while supplying fresh veggies to Aldi. The consumer watchdog is seeking a penalty of $ 12 million against Perfection Fresh for alleged price fixing. And a convicted murderer has lost his fight for the right to eat Vegemite in prison. He argued the ban in Victorian jails breached his human rights because eating Vegemite was part of his Aussie culture. But the Supreme Court has rejected his case. Sport and Entertainment are next. Sport and the Bledisloe Cup series will return to the MCG next year under a new deal between Rugby Australia and the Victorian Government. The last time the Wallabies and All Blacks played at the iconic venue was in 2023. And the AFL has announced next year's Gather Round fixture. All 18 clubs to play in South Australia in the second week of April. Entertainment News Now and Drake has been roasted online over his birthday outfit. They're up a copying it from fans after he was spotted wearing an oversized shawl and leather pants to his 40th celebrations. Formula One champ Lewis Hamilton has opened up about his romance with Kim Kardashian, revealing he's brought her four children a puppy. The seven-time world champion says he loves spending time with the kids and gifted them the golden retriever named Halo earlier this year. And Harry Styles is giving fans something new to look forward to, announcing music video for his song Coming Up Roses. The superstar has teased the release on social media.
