ABOUT THIS EPISODE
You know what you want to change. You’ve read the books, listened to the podcasts and made the plans, but taking action still feels hard. So what’s getting in the way?
In this episode of The True Form Podcast, I sit down with behavioural coach and Let’s Get Human founder Corbin Bruckshaw to explore the gap between knowing what to do and actually doing it.
We talk about values, identity, self-sabotage and the pressure to chase goals that might not be our own. Corbin also opens up about how his fear of getting things wrong held him back, despite spending years learning about the very things he wanted to help others with.
One of my favourite parts of this conversation is the shift from asking what we want to looking at how we’re actually living. We explore space, time, energy and money as starting points for that reflection, then bring it back to practical examples of getting started in the gym, in business and in everyday life.

- The self-improvement trap: When learning more becomes a way of delaying action.
- Fear and confidence: Corbin’s experience of waiting to feel ready.
- Habits and identity: Starting small and following through on manageable commitments.
- Mentorship and comparison: Learning from others without expecting your day one to look like their year ten.

00:00:00.239 --> 00:00:02.319
People go, well, Corbin, it should be important to me.
00:00:02.319 --> 00:00:03.680
It's supposed to be important to me.
00:00:03.680 --> 00:00:04.879
It needs to be important to me.
00:00:04.879 --> 00:00:06.000
According to who?
00:00:06.559 --> 00:00:08.560
Next podcast, next book, next talk.
00:00:08.560 --> 00:00:12.640
Just keep going through the circle without actually breaking out of the circle and taking action.
00:00:12.800 --> 00:00:15.839
And it does not matter how small you start.
00:00:15.839 --> 00:00:17.199
It doesn't matter at all.
00:00:17.440 --> 00:00:20.079
How can we get them to lean towards excitement and take action?
00:00:20.320 --> 00:00:27.679
Jack, this one hits home for me so and I'm honestly about to get emotional with this because as simple as that question is, it's very meaningful.
00:00:27.679 --> 00:00:35.200
This is a trap in the personal development industry, by the way, where people think that they need more information, they need another talk, another seminar.
00:00:35.200 --> 00:00:38.079
I'm telling you right now, no, you don't.
00:00:38.560 --> 00:00:40.399
What is up, everybody?
00:00:40.399 --> 00:00:43.280
Welcome back to the True Form Podcast.

00:01:08.560 --> 00:01:15.439
It really does help this podcast reach more people, which helps them find their true form and live a life that is true to them.
00:01:15.439 --> 00:01:16.000
100%.
00:01:16.000 --> 00:01:22.959
And that's where I wanted to start because I think like your skill set is very unique and authentic.
00:01:22.959 --> 00:01:28.079
And I wanted to know how you developed those skills and where how you got to where you are now.
00:01:28.879 --> 00:01:30.480
And what a great question.
00:01:30.480 --> 00:01:34.239
And I'm so ha I'm so happy that that you cared to ask that.
00:01:34.239 --> 00:01:37.359
So um my name's Corbin Bruckshaw.
00:01:37.359 --> 00:01:39.920
I founded the company Let's Get Human.
00:01:39.920 --> 00:01:51.040
And the whole point of my business and the coaching is to help people expand human potential and awareness and live in alignment with what's really valuable to them, right?
00:01:51.040 --> 00:01:53.120
And everybody, everybody wants that.
00:01:53.120 --> 00:01:54.799
Everybody goes, what's my purpose?
00:01:54.799 --> 00:01:55.680
What's my destiny?
00:01:55.680 --> 00:01:57.280
What's what's my why?
00:01:57.280 --> 00:01:58.640
Well, you're living it.
00:01:58.640 --> 00:02:00.079
You're living it every day.
00:02:00.079 --> 00:02:06.319
Sometimes we just don't realize it, or maybe it's not the why that you think you should be living, and that's a whole nother topic of conversation.
00:02:06.319 --> 00:02:08.240
So let's back up a little bit.
00:02:08.240 --> 00:02:19.599
Um, I was born born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri, and at the ripe age of about seven or eight, my mom got diagnosed with stage three breast cancer.
00:02:19.599 --> 00:02:25.199
And so had had a very big life event happen really early.
00:02:25.199 --> 00:02:27.919
And so I'm just a little boy, man, right?
00:02:27.919 --> 00:02:29.919
I'm just running around doing my thing.
00:02:29.919 --> 00:02:33.840
And, you know, my parents ended up separating around the same time.
00:02:33.840 --> 00:02:35.840
So that was a double whammy.
00:02:35.840 --> 00:02:43.919
Um, and all I remember was my mom had the most positive attitude ever, and we were gonna make it through it.
00:02:43.919 --> 00:02:47.199
Didn't know how we were gonna make it make it through it, but we knew we were.
00:02:47.199 --> 00:02:50.400
And there was one night that her and I were hanging out.
00:02:50.400 --> 00:02:57.039
She had just shaved her head because she was losing her hair due to the chemotherapy, and she's like, you know what?
00:02:57.039 --> 00:02:58.240
Screw it.
00:02:58.240 --> 00:03:03.199
You know, I'm not I'm not gonna be one of these people that's, you know, half baked.
00:03:03.199 --> 00:03:08.800
So she she was courageous enough to shave her head and we accepted it, and we decided to move through it as a family.
00:03:08.800 --> 00:03:12.000
And, you know, by the grace of God, she's still here and she's thriving.
00:03:12.000 --> 00:03:18.560
But the reason this is relevant is that night we sat down and we watched The Secret together.
00:03:18.560 --> 00:03:33.840
And that was my first ever exposure to this world of thoughts become things, of mindset, of creating destiny, not just accepting what you know, the cards you've been given, but playing the hand like it's the one that you wanted.
00:03:33.840 --> 00:03:38.719
And all I remembered from that, Jack, was thoughts become things.
00:03:38.719 --> 00:03:42.159
That was the only thing that I remembered as a seven-year-old boy.
00:03:42.560 --> 00:03:43.520
A seven, okay.
00:03:43.759 --> 00:03:44.960
So, yeah, so seven.
00:03:44.960 --> 00:03:47.919
So we moved down to Dallas, Texas.
00:03:47.919 --> 00:03:50.000
We've been here for a while now.
00:03:50.000 --> 00:03:54.400
And I man, I was never really like the popular kid.
00:03:54.400 --> 00:03:56.879
I was an outsider because I was from the Midwest.
00:03:56.879 --> 00:04:01.280
And down here in Texas, man, if you're not from Texas, we don't really want you, right?
00:04:01.280 --> 00:04:04.240
Now, obviously that's changed a little bit.
00:04:04.240 --> 00:04:08.319
Uh, Texas has has grown and and its outreach has grown as well.
00:04:08.319 --> 00:04:11.280
But back in the day, it's like, man, who's this guy?
00:04:11.280 --> 00:04:11.520
Right?
00:04:11.520 --> 00:04:14.719
It would be just like if you moved uh from out of state from anywhere else.
00:04:14.719 --> 00:04:17.199
Like, man, we we we know each other.
00:04:17.199 --> 00:04:24.000
We went to elementary school together, then middle school, then high school, and and I'm just an outsider trying to wiggle my way in.
00:04:24.000 --> 00:04:34.240
And ri so so it was the the first event was my mom having stage three breast cancer, and that opened up this sphere of conscious thinking to me.
00:04:34.240 --> 00:04:34.560
Okay.
00:04:34.560 --> 00:04:41.759
The second thing was I was not popular at all, and I had no friends.
00:04:41.759 --> 00:04:43.839
And I'm like, well, this sucks, right?
00:04:43.839 --> 00:04:46.000
So how do I get friends?
00:04:46.000 --> 00:04:51.199
Well, I I I saw an ad of a guy that was like, you know what?
00:04:51.199 --> 00:04:53.279
You should start to read books.
00:04:53.279 --> 00:04:55.759
And this was at like 14, 15, right?
00:04:55.759 --> 00:04:56.800
So still really young.
00:04:56.800 --> 00:04:57.839
And I'm like, you know what?
00:04:57.839 --> 00:05:00.319
I should start start to read books.
00:05:00.319 --> 00:05:01.120
Why not?
00:05:01.120 --> 00:05:07.279
So, very first book, one of the very first books that I ever picked up was How to Win Friends and Influence People.
00:05:07.279 --> 00:05:12.160
And man, the rest is absolutely history.
00:05:12.160 --> 00:05:26.560
Like, picked up how to win friends and influence people, that led to Tony Robbins books, that led to body language books, psychology books, finance books, health and wellness books, negotiation books, money books.
00:05:26.560 --> 00:05:31.920
And I'm and I'm about 300 books deep on this topic at this point.
00:05:31.920 --> 00:05:35.360
So that that is that's where it started.
00:05:35.360 --> 00:05:39.600
And then I go, okay, I can only get so much knowledge out of books.
00:05:39.600 --> 00:05:40.879
What's the next step here?
00:05:40.879 --> 00:05:43.439
Well, then I started getting into the seminar world.
00:05:43.439 --> 00:05:54.000
And one of the first seminars that I had ever attended was a seminar with Rod Harrison, who was one of Tony Robbins' right hand guys for like a decade.
00:05:54.000 --> 00:05:54.480
Right.
00:05:54.480 --> 00:05:59.439
So I walk into this thing bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, you know, I'm still a teenager.
00:05:59.439 --> 00:06:02.959
And he's like, Okay, like, hi, welcome, man.
00:06:02.959 --> 00:06:04.000
Like, how are you?
00:06:04.000 --> 00:06:06.720
So that was another moment.
00:06:06.720 --> 00:06:12.800
There's all of these are moments, maybe not necessarily in chronological order, but as I'm remembering them.
00:06:12.800 --> 00:06:18.319
And as he taught Jack, I was absolutely obsessed.
00:06:18.319 --> 00:06:19.839
I'm like, this is so cool.
00:06:19.839 --> 00:06:22.639
I'm learning about the human personality archetypes.
00:06:22.639 --> 00:06:26.959
I'm learning about motivation factors, I'm learning about introversion and extroversion.
00:06:26.959 --> 00:06:30.079
I'm learning why some people win and some people think about winning.
00:06:30.079 --> 00:06:31.839
I'm learning all of this stuff.
00:06:31.839 --> 00:06:36.240
And then the the that was one of the formal education things that I did.
00:06:36.240 --> 00:06:42.160
And that turned into almost a year-long learning through that, through the institutions at that time.
00:06:42.160 --> 00:06:54.639
And the most defining moment that I had that told me that this is what I wanted to commit my life to was I watched Tony Robbins' I Am Not Your Guru on Netflix when it came out.
00:06:54.639 --> 00:06:58.399
And man, I was freaking obsessed.
00:06:58.399 --> 00:07:01.920
I'm like, I don't know what this is called.
00:07:01.920 --> 00:07:09.439
I don't know what this is that Tony's doing, but I have to figure it out because this is exactly what I want to do with my life.
00:07:09.439 --> 00:07:12.879
And that was at 16, 17 years old.
00:07:12.879 --> 00:07:18.000
So I've had this inspired vision for for a long time now.
00:07:18.000 --> 00:07:20.319
And I've I never gave up, right?
00:07:20.319 --> 00:07:22.160
Like people, how how do you do it, man?
00:07:22.160 --> 00:07:29.600
You just you find out what you absolutely love to do, what you're sent on this earth to do, and then you freaking go for it.
00:07:31.040 --> 00:07:34.639
I'm actually very jealous that you've picked that up at 15, 16.
00:07:34.639 --> 00:07:41.360
I was only about 30 when I started reading those books and understanding it and going, oh wow, this is different.
00:07:41.360 --> 00:07:43.040
That's that's amazing.
00:07:43.199 --> 00:07:51.360
So well, that is uh that's the that's the benefits of what I perceived to have be disadvantageous at the time, right?
00:07:51.360 --> 00:07:58.480
Nobody liked me, nobody wanted me around, I didn't get invited out to anything, I wasn't cool, I wasn't popular, leave us the hell alone.
00:07:58.480 --> 00:08:01.839
All right, well, I guess I better learn a little bit about people then, right?
00:08:01.839 --> 00:08:10.720
Because unless I want that to be the rest of my life experience, which I didn't, then it was advantageous to me to be the nerd that stayed home and studied what made people tick.
00:08:10.720 --> 00:08:23.439
And now, you know, that that's just gone absolutely amazing, and I'm so unbelievably grateful for all of the support and the friends and the family and the everything that I've had to get to this point because nobody does it alone.
00:08:23.439 --> 00:08:25.360
Nobody does this alone.
00:08:25.360 --> 00:08:25.759
Right.
00:08:25.759 --> 00:08:30.639
And I think that's that's one of my core factors is I've had a remarkable support group.
00:08:30.639 --> 00:08:34.960
Uh have the best family ever, and I've found the right mentors.
00:08:34.960 --> 00:08:37.919
You can't learn this stuff in school.
00:08:37.919 --> 00:08:38.799
You just can't.
00:08:38.799 --> 00:08:47.600
Like you, you don't, you can maybe learn a little bit of it, Jack, but this is this is a curated Corbin Brookshaw degree, right?
00:08:47.600 --> 00:08:55.679
I've I've got the degree that I chose to have based off of the pieces of the puzzle that I chose to put together for the specific skill sets that I wanted.
00:08:55.679 --> 00:08:58.639
So saw the Tony Robbins thing.
00:08:58.639 --> 00:09:01.360
I did the uh the Rod Harrison stuff for a while.
00:09:01.360 --> 00:09:06.399
I did go to uh Erickson Coaching International, and that's I I I think it's called ICF.
00:09:06.399 --> 00:09:12.320
It's been a while since I've done it, but that's a that's an accredited, basically life coaching school to learn a bunch of skills.
00:09:12.320 --> 00:09:26.720
Um I went and studied with one of the best hypnotists, you know, in North America and learned all about the subconscious mind and integrative hypnosis and NLP and submodalities and you know how to access the unconscious.
00:09:26.720 --> 00:09:35.440
And then my one of the main influencers in my world specifically that has moved the needle for me the most was Dr.
00:09:35.440 --> 00:09:38.480
John Di Martini and the Di Martini Institute.
00:09:38.480 --> 00:09:47.039
That absolutely expanded my own awareness and my skill sets and my ability to actually help clients break through like never before.
00:09:47.039 --> 00:09:54.720
And that's primarily the Di Martini method, is primarily what my coaching program perceptual design is based off of.
00:09:55.440 --> 00:10:00.399
Can you I've heard the name before, but I just cannot remember for the life of me what it's all about.
00:10:00.720 --> 00:10:01.360
Certainly.
00:10:01.360 --> 00:10:02.399
So Dr.
00:10:02.399 --> 00:10:08.559
John is a polymath, he's been the leading human behavioral specialist for 50 plus years.
00:10:08.559 --> 00:10:11.840
He was in the secret, he's been in all sorts of different movies.
00:10:11.840 --> 00:10:18.799
But the Di Martini method specifically focuses in on perceptions and how you can change your perception.
00:10:18.799 --> 00:10:23.679
You might not be able to change the past, but you can change the story you have of it, right?
00:10:23.679 --> 00:10:40.799
So, and and I learned a tremendous amount of value from them, and I owe them a tremendous gratitude for teaching me about the single most important factor in human behavior, which is values, and then learning how to dissolve subconscious baggage, which is running the show and holding us back.
00:10:40.799 --> 00:10:53.919
Because no matter how hard you try consciously, if the subconscious is out of alignment, you're going to run yourself in circles and you're going to do what we all like to do is called self-sabotage.
00:10:53.919 --> 00:10:59.120
But realistically, self-sabotage isn't really what we think it is, right?
00:10:59.120 --> 00:11:03.200
Because you don't sabotage yourself when you do things that are intrinsically important to you.
00:11:03.200 --> 00:11:05.279
They actually seem to work out quite well.
00:11:05.279 --> 00:11:13.519
But whenever you're doing things that are not actually necessarily higher on your values, that's when we start to have quote unquote self-sabotage.
00:11:13.519 --> 00:11:20.559
But is it actually self-sabotage, or do we just not really actually care about the thing that we're supposed to or ought to or need to care about?
00:11:20.559 --> 00:11:26.799
So we figure out ways to procrastinate, hesitate, and frustrate it to where it just, you know, doesn't work, right?
00:11:26.799 --> 00:11:29.200
So I I have a bit of an unorthodox perspective.
00:11:30.399 --> 00:11:32.080
Let let's double click on that.
00:11:32.080 --> 00:11:40.080
I about 10 episodes ago, I re- recorded the 300th episode and it was lessons learnt from over three hundred episodes interviewing people like you.
00:11:40.080 --> 00:11:42.320
And one of the lessons was exactly that.
00:11:42.320 --> 00:11:54.080
If you don't feel like you have the energy or you're putting in half effort into something, it's a good indication that you don't actually want to achieve or it's not for you what you're trying to do.
00:11:54.080 --> 00:12:03.679
But uh the big thing is trying to get people aware of that because a lot of people are just doing these things thinking that they have to because of external forces or external pressures.
00:12:03.679 --> 00:12:12.559
So how do we get people a bit more aware of what they should actually be doing and what they want to do, not what everybody outside them thinks they should be doing?
00:12:12.960 --> 00:12:13.440
Yes.
00:12:13.440 --> 00:12:15.519
Wonderful question.
00:12:15.519 --> 00:12:22.000
So every human being lives and operates by a unique set of values.
00:12:22.000 --> 00:12:25.919
What's most to least important to them at any given moment at any given time?
00:12:25.919 --> 00:12:28.399
And these are not all equal to each other.
00:12:28.399 --> 00:12:36.399
It's called a hierarchy of values because it lives in the subconscious and you have a highest value, and then you do have lower values.
00:12:36.399 --> 00:12:38.159
They just keep going, going, going, going, right?
00:12:38.159 --> 00:12:45.200
So there's no such thing, Jack, is a lowest value, but there is such a thing as a highest value, and we it's called the telos, right?
00:12:45.200 --> 00:12:47.039
The purpose of life, the meaning in life.
00:12:47.039 --> 00:12:56.000
So when you look at this value structure, you're you are demonstrating with your life what is most important to you.
00:12:56.000 --> 00:13:01.440
Nobody has, I guarantee you, Jack, nobody has to remind you to do your podcast, right?
00:13:01.440 --> 00:13:05.519
Nobody has to remind you to do what's most intrinsically important to you.
00:13:05.519 --> 00:13:09.039
And no one has to remind a child to play their video games.
00:13:09.039 --> 00:13:13.440
No one has to remind a child to go outside and and and hang out with their buddies, right?
00:13:13.440 --> 00:13:18.799
So we all intrinsically move on things that are highest on our values.
00:13:18.799 --> 00:13:25.279
So when someone comes to me and man, they've just been struggling and they don't, and they just don't know why they can't stay motivated.
00:13:25.279 --> 00:13:28.000
And I'm talking about the psychological aspect of it right now.
00:13:28.000 --> 00:13:31.519
We can dip into a little bit of the neurological aspect too.
00:13:31.519 --> 00:13:59.039
But most people, and me included, and I'm sure you at some time, we we all oscillate between outer authorities injected values into our life that we should live by, ought to live by, need to live by, all those things versus the values that are intrinsically meaningful to me, to you, and to the listeners that we automatically, autonomously, independently move on without the need of any external motivation.
00:13:59.039 --> 00:14:08.000
External motivation is a symptom that you are living in accordance to lower values because you do not need motivation when you're living in accordance to your highest values.
00:14:08.000 --> 00:14:20.080
You're already disciplined, reliable, and focused in your highest values, and you automatically, unconsciously operate out of frustration, procrastination, and hesitation in your lowest values.
00:14:20.080 --> 00:14:22.399
So it's it's a human design.
00:14:22.399 --> 00:14:31.279
Hesitation, procrastination, and frustration is designed to wake you up and make you realize you're moving in a way that's not actually important to you.
00:14:31.279 --> 00:14:36.000
So when people come to me and they're like, man, I'm just so I just procrastinate.
00:14:36.000 --> 00:14:38.960
That that's not a that's not a flaw, Jack.
00:14:38.960 --> 00:14:40.559
It's designed that way.
00:14:40.559 --> 00:14:45.840
So what specifically are you doing and what and you and and how are you perceiving it?
00:14:45.840 --> 00:14:49.120
And when you and now here's the thing, these can be changed, right?
00:14:49.120 --> 00:14:56.240
So you can change something and link it to your higher values to make the probability of you intrinsically doing it go up.
00:14:56.240 --> 00:14:58.480
But that that's a further conversation.
00:14:58.480 --> 00:15:05.840
So higher values, this is where your identity, your knowledge, and your purpose live around.
00:15:05.840 --> 00:15:15.519
And the fastest way to fill the most amount of voids is to increase the high, go to the highest value and live in accordance with that highest value.
00:15:15.519 --> 00:15:20.080
And this is also the way to feel the most fulfillment and purpose out of life.
00:15:20.080 --> 00:15:25.840
Because when you are living in accordance to your highest values, your space and time horizons expand.
00:15:25.840 --> 00:15:30.399
You're not worried about today, right now, we gotta have make it happen right now.
00:15:30.399 --> 00:15:38.799
You allow yourself to actually see and give yourself the time to accomplish what you actually want to accomplish.
00:15:38.799 --> 00:15:50.080
When you live in accordance to your highest values, the blood, glucose, and oxygen go up into the forebrain, the medial prefrontal cortex, and this is called the executive center in neurology.
00:15:50.080 --> 00:16:00.799
This is where planning happens, this is where strategic thought happens, this is where you can kind of see the future a little bit and visualize out before you start making those decisions.
00:16:00.799 --> 00:16:08.720
When you live in accordance with lower values, the blood glucose and oxygen goes into the subcortical region of the brain called the amygdala.
00:16:08.720 --> 00:16:11.039
This is the fear center of the brain.
00:16:11.039 --> 00:16:14.159
This is the immediate gratification center of the brain.
00:16:14.159 --> 00:16:27.759
This is the side of the brain that assigns valency and only wants one side of a two-sided world, only wants good, not bad, only wants pleasure, not pain, only wants happiness, not sadness, only wants this, not that.
00:16:27.759 --> 00:16:34.159
And that's when you have polarized perceptions, and that's when you start to have a one, a one-sided world.
00:16:34.159 --> 00:16:37.840
And the problem with that is nothing is ever one-sided.
00:16:37.840 --> 00:16:45.279
There's always advantages and disadvantages, and there's always disadvantages and advantages to everything and everyone, no matter what.
00:16:45.279 --> 00:16:54.399
So when you move up into that higher level of thinking, that that medial prefrontal cortex, you allow yourself to start to see both sides of an event.
00:16:54.399 --> 00:16:59.600
So, from a values perspective, we're healthier autonomically.
00:16:59.600 --> 00:17:05.359
Our our nervous system is more in balance whenever we're living in accordance to our highest values.
00:17:05.359 --> 00:17:14.559
We give ourselves permission to actually go achieve what we want to set out to achieve within a reasonable time frame and we don't beat ourselves up when it doesn't go right.
00:17:14.559 --> 00:17:18.480
We we go, okay, we know that there's support and challenge equally.
00:17:18.480 --> 00:17:23.279
And by the way, sorry if I'm rambling, that's how you know you've got a real goal.
00:17:23.279 --> 00:17:39.440
When you we uh when you got a real goal, you have a real time frame for it that you can write down and you can actually see yourself committing to that and doing, and you're willing to embrace support and challenge equally to the same degree.
00:17:39.440 --> 00:17:44.319
You're willing to embrace the hero and the villain equally to the same degree.
00:17:44.319 --> 00:17:50.480
And you know that you're you're not blind and you're not trying to go into it going, okay, I know nothing bad's gonna happen.
00:17:50.480 --> 00:17:52.240
I know no challenges are gonna come up.
00:17:52.240 --> 00:17:55.599
I know that I, you know, I think I can, I think I can, I think I can.
00:17:55.599 --> 00:17:58.960
No, you go, I know that I'm going somewhere I've never been.
00:17:58.960 --> 00:18:05.200
I know that there's going to be boundaries and that there's going to be things that I have to do, think, be, and do to have that.
00:18:05.200 --> 00:18:12.240
And I'm going to sit down and preemptively strategize out those things because it's only a challenge if you haven't prepared for it.
00:18:12.240 --> 00:18:12.640
Right.
00:18:12.640 --> 00:18:18.880
It's all it's only, it's only a block, it's only a wall if you didn't expect it to come.
00:18:18.880 --> 00:18:37.200
If you expected it to be there and you strategized around it to the best of your ability, now you have the support, you actively mitigated the risks, you have a timeline, there's different neuromechanisms in the brain that are going to help you move forward, and you're probably going to increase the likeness of actually achieving what you set out to achieve.
00:18:39.599 --> 00:18:41.519
There's a lot in there we need to unpack.
00:18:41.519 --> 00:18:50.960
If you care about your health, wellness, and you want to live a long, healthy, happy life, then you're eventually gonna come across red light therapy.
00:18:50.960 --> 00:18:55.519
It is a massive trend at the moment, and there is a lot of information out there.
00:18:55.519 --> 00:19:05.599
And before you go taking some YouTuber, podcaster, or influencer's advice on whether it actually works or if it's gonna benefit you, there are three things you need to know.
00:19:05.599 --> 00:19:09.039
First, you need to do your own research.
00:19:09.039 --> 00:19:27.359
But before you start Googling red light therapy and whatever you're trying to use it for, whether it's recovery, pain reduction, beauty, or fat loss, make sure you use the word photobiomodulation because that's what's actually happening when you're using the red light therapy on your skin or close to.
00:19:27.359 --> 00:19:32.480
Second is all about the specs of the device that you are looking at.
00:19:32.480 --> 00:19:37.839
Make sure the wavelength of the red light therapy device matches what you are using it for.
00:19:37.839 --> 00:19:43.519
As you've just seen in your research, the wavelengths affect your body in different ways.
00:19:43.519 --> 00:19:48.640
So if you're using it for beauty, it's gonna be a different wavelength for muscle recovery or fat loss.
00:19:48.640 --> 00:19:54.240
Also, while we're on specs, double check the distance that the red light therapy device goes from your body.
00:19:54.240 --> 00:19:59.279
Some devices have a set distance from the body part that it needs to sit at.
00:19:59.279 --> 00:20:05.680
And if it's too far away, you're just basically holding a red light near your body and you're not gonna get any of the benefits.
00:20:05.680 --> 00:20:14.960
But as you've seen in the research you've just done, most of the researchers use a device that will actually sit on the skin because you can't stuff that up.
00:20:14.960 --> 00:20:23.839
And third, like anything to do with your overall health, wellness, and longevity, consistency is the key to you getting results.
00:20:23.839 --> 00:20:31.119
So make sure that you have consistent exposure to your red light therapy device so it maximizes your results.
00:20:31.119 --> 00:20:35.039
And that is why I'm such a big fan of the Lumiflex products.
00:20:35.039 --> 00:20:36.480
They tick all the boxes.
00:20:36.480 --> 00:20:41.839
It is very easy to be consistent with your red light therapy when you have one of these products.
00:20:41.839 --> 00:20:54.640
Unlike other devices that still work, but when you when it's a big panel and you have to spend 20 minutes in the morning, 20 minutes in the evening sitting in front of them, it's there's a lot of resistance there and it takes up a lot of time.
00:20:54.640 --> 00:20:59.200
These little silicon panels go with me everywhere.
00:20:59.200 --> 00:21:02.400
They go on me everywhere, and there's no excuse not to do it.
00:21:02.400 --> 00:21:07.359
When I'm sitting here working, I can be getting red light therapy device when I'm in the gym with clients.
00:21:07.359 --> 00:21:08.720
I've got it on me somewhere.
00:21:08.720 --> 00:21:12.240
So I'm always getting some sort of red light therapy throughout the day.
00:21:12.240 --> 00:21:19.279
And I know the specs on these Lumiflex products are what they say they are because they are FDA cleared.
00:21:19.279 --> 00:21:24.960
And you don't need to go out and buy a bunch of different red light therapy devices that have different wavelengths.
00:21:24.960 --> 00:21:32.960
All the Lumiflex products have a wide range of wavelengths that you can control with your phone.
00:21:32.960 --> 00:21:41.599
So no matter what I'm trying to do, I can use my phone to set the wavelength, set the duration, and make sure that I'm getting the most out of this device.
00:21:41.599 --> 00:21:50.319
So after you have done all your research on red light therapy and the devices, I'd strongly recommend you check out the Lumaflex products.
00:21:50.319 --> 00:21:56.640
And when you're ready to purchase, use the code TrueForm at checkout and you'll get 10% off.
00:21:56.640 --> 00:21:59.839
Again, that is true form at checkout to get 10% off.
00:21:59.839 --> 00:22:02.319
Oh, there's a lot in there we need to unpack.
00:22:02.319 --> 00:22:06.160
I was I was smiling and nodding, agreeing as you went along.
00:22:06.160 --> 00:22:12.160
At the start of this year, I ha I had a lot of health issues going on, and my blood pressure was just through the roof.
00:22:12.160 --> 00:22:16.160
And like going to the doctor, getting all these different tests done, and I could not figure out why.
00:22:16.160 --> 00:22:24.480
But at the start of the year, I just what you were saying just resonated with me so much because it was I I had all these things in my head.
00:22:24.480 --> 00:22:37.519
I was trying to achieve all these things, do all these things, and I had so much pre external pressure on trying to achieve these things, like numbers on the podcast, like business, personal training, everything was just building up, building up, building up.
00:22:37.519 --> 00:22:42.319
There's all these external pressures, and that was sort of, I think, was was raising the blood pressure.
00:22:42.319 --> 00:22:52.400
And when I stopped, reset, and like you said, just didn't force anything and just went through and just started doing the things I wanted to do.
00:22:52.400 --> 00:23:00.880
My blood pressure dropped, everything got better, I dropped body fat, I was looking better, feeling better, my body felt the best it's ever felt and I was almost forty.
00:23:00.880 --> 00:23:07.680
So it was amazing how just a mind shift can change the body as well, not just the body changing the external.
00:23:07.680 --> 00:23:08.000
Yes.
00:23:08.000 --> 00:23:12.880
And sort of that's I want to sort of break that down for a lot of people as well.
00:23:12.880 --> 00:23:14.400
Like everything you just said.
00:23:14.400 --> 00:23:20.480
A lot of people listening are probably just starting out their health, wellness, mindset, identity journey.
00:23:20.480 --> 00:23:28.799
So let's just say they want to start working on themselves, they're motivated to get started, they want to start exercising, working on their mindset.
00:23:28.799 --> 00:23:35.359
What should they be thinking about when they're stepping into that new identity identity that they want to start achieving?
00:23:36.720 --> 00:23:42.640
The most powerful force in human nature is to stay consistent with the identity we hold of ourselves.
00:23:44.480 --> 00:23:45.920
Let me break that down a little bit.
00:23:46.160 --> 00:23:48.720
Because this feeds directly into values.
00:23:48.720 --> 00:23:51.519
And we see this often around the New Year's, right?
00:23:51.519 --> 00:24:01.440
People have their exciting new goals that they want to do, they have a temporary value system in place, they're excited for 30, 60, 90 days, and then it falls off because it was never truly meaningful to them.
00:24:01.440 --> 00:24:02.799
It's what sounded good.
00:24:02.799 --> 00:24:12.960
Now, when it comes to values and kind of what you said about like, man, I was doing the things that kind of stressed me out, my blood pressure was high, all of those different things.
00:24:12.960 --> 00:24:15.440
Again, we're designed that way, right?
00:24:15.440 --> 00:24:22.880
We're designed to have autonomic dysregulation when we're living outside of our own truest, highest values, right?
00:24:22.880 --> 00:24:26.880
So there's only two stressors in human nature, Jack.
00:24:26.880 --> 00:24:27.599
Only two.
00:24:27.599 --> 00:24:30.559
And there's a lot of things that fall under this, but there's only two.
00:24:30.559 --> 00:24:38.799
The perception of loss of that which you wish to gain, or the perception of gain of that which you wish to avoid.
00:24:38.799 --> 00:24:41.759
Can you just repeat that?
00:24:41.759 --> 00:24:49.920
The perception of loss of that which you seek, or the perception of gain of that which you wish to avoid.
00:24:53.359 --> 00:24:54.640
Let's get into that.
00:24:54.960 --> 00:25:02.960
So the perception uh the perception of loss, and by the way, right, the uh most people live in the illusion of loss and gain.
00:25:02.960 --> 00:25:12.240
The master lives in the reality of transformation, where there's never anything lost or gained, it's just transforming and changing form, and that's that's a universal law.
00:25:12.240 --> 00:25:16.720
It's what one of the laws is called uh one the one to the many, right?
00:25:16.880 --> 00:25:20.799
So um ask me your question again.
00:25:22.319 --> 00:25:28.079
Just somebody, I guess, realizing that let's go back to that new Z New Year's Eve example.
00:25:28.079 --> 00:25:43.440
Somebody's excited to get started, they've they've got some motivation, they want to start building these new habits, transform, like start understanding their values, become something else, or achieve a body weight or what business, whatever it is.
00:25:43.440 --> 00:25:45.599
But what should they be thinking about along the way?
00:25:45.599 --> 00:25:57.519
So you said value, so maybe we could tie in how to how can that person understand what's actually value to them and keep it going rather than getting two weeks in and going, oh, that didn't work.
00:25:58.240 --> 00:26:00.799
So and and and and we can unpack that a lot.
00:26:00.799 --> 00:26:05.200
I'll I'll answer your question, then I've got a little bit of a of an example to give too.
00:26:05.200 --> 00:26:20.480
So human beings will always do what we believe will give us the most advantage over disadvantage at any given point in time in accordance to our highest values.
00:26:20.480 --> 00:26:30.480
With that being said, the advantage to disadvantage metric can be completely unconscious, and most of the time is.
00:26:30.480 --> 00:26:48.640
So if you are if your values are set, right, and the first step in this to answer your question is to bring the subconscious values to the conscious awareness and go, okay, and so there's a series of questions that I take my clients through in my consultations.
00:26:48.640 --> 00:26:51.680
I'll share a couple of them with you right now for sake of time.
00:26:51.680 --> 00:26:56.880
Um, but one of them, it's space, time, energy, and money are the first four.
00:26:56.880 --> 00:27:03.279
So in the study of proximics, we fill our space, Jack, with what's most important to us, right?
00:27:03.279 --> 00:27:09.200
So uh we we keep things that are important to us six inches to a foot away from us at all times.
00:27:09.200 --> 00:27:09.599
Right.
00:27:09.599 --> 00:27:14.559
Now, the caveat to this is if you tell me, well, you know, I have a lamp on my desk and I never interact with it, okay.
00:27:14.559 --> 00:27:17.519
Well, that duh, that's not, that's just an inanimate object, right?
00:27:17.519 --> 00:27:24.160
It's not, it's not meaningful to you unless you interact with it, then maybe it might mean something to you, but that's that's not what we're talking about here.
00:27:24.160 --> 00:27:30.480
I'm talking about your phone, your keys, your wallet, your laptop, and what do they represent to you?
00:27:30.480 --> 00:27:33.519
What do you do with them most of the time, right?
00:27:33.519 --> 00:27:37.200
How do you, what do you use your vehicle for most of the time?
00:27:37.200 --> 00:27:39.359
Who do you text most of the time?
00:27:39.359 --> 00:27:42.880
If I looked at your emails, who are you emailing most of the time?
00:27:42.880 --> 00:27:44.960
Because that's showing me what's valuable to you.
00:27:44.960 --> 00:27:46.240
So that's space, right?
00:27:46.240 --> 00:27:47.519
The study of proximics.
00:27:47.519 --> 00:27:53.920
We like to keep people that are meaningful to us close and we like people that we don't like at all as far away as possible, right?
00:27:53.920 --> 00:27:57.279
So you can stay away from me if you don't support my values.
00:27:57.279 --> 00:27:59.359
Um, secondly, is time.
00:27:59.359 --> 00:28:09.920
We intrinsically make time for what is important to us, and we intentionally don't make time for things that are not.
00:28:09.920 --> 00:28:13.759
And this is one thing that I that I really want to drive home for people.
00:28:13.759 --> 00:28:20.799
If you're making time for it intrinsically, that's a really big indicator that it's actually important to you.
00:28:20.799 --> 00:28:25.200
If no one's having to tell you to do it, you just automatically make time to do that, right?
00:28:25.200 --> 00:28:33.359
So you invest your time and you spend your time where it's most important to you and you take time away from things that are not.
00:28:33.359 --> 00:28:37.359
And now here's the thing: people go, well, Corbin, it should be important to me.
00:28:37.359 --> 00:28:40.160
It's supposed to be important to me, it needs to be important to me.
00:28:40.400 --> 00:28:41.680
According to who?
00:28:41.680 --> 00:28:45.759
According to who.
00:28:45.759 --> 00:28:48.000
Right?
00:28:48.160 --> 00:28:53.359
And now we can all universally agree that health and well-being is is a super important thing.
00:28:53.359 --> 00:29:00.640
However, if you're not intrinsically inspired to do it, let's look under the hood and see what advantages you're getting out of that, Jack.
00:29:00.640 --> 00:29:07.599
Because nobody will ever be able to convince me that there's not advantages to to something that you say you need to be doing, but you're not.
00:29:07.599 --> 00:29:08.000
Right.
00:29:08.000 --> 00:29:18.240
And if you're if you're not doing it, that's because there's more advantages right now, somewhere in your subconscious mind, to not do it than there is to do it.
00:29:18.240 --> 00:29:23.440
And the moment that you begin to perceive more advantages to doing it, you'll do it.
00:29:23.440 --> 00:29:28.559
Like this is this is a very, it's it's simple, but it's not easy, right?
00:29:28.559 --> 00:29:42.559
It's a simple concept to grasp our heads around, but this is where someone has to be willing to do the work and go, okay, we have to be willing to get extremely honest with ourselves and go, man, it's not important to me, but I need it to be important to me.
00:29:42.559 --> 00:29:43.839
Okay, I can work with that.
00:29:43.839 --> 00:29:48.319
So let's look at your current values hierarchy and see how that's being fulfilled, right?
00:29:48.319 --> 00:29:52.160
Because everybody's got one and you're intrinsically doing things to fulfill it.
00:29:52.160 --> 00:29:54.799
So space-time, that leads us into energy.
00:29:54.799 --> 00:30:03.440
When you're doing something that's most fulfilling to you, your energy levels go up and you have more energy after doing it than before doing it.
00:30:03.440 --> 00:30:18.480
And if you have less energy after doing it, or you feel like your energy is being sucked out of you, it's simply not important to you and it's not higher on your values because energy, you have basically unlimited sources of energy for things that are important to you, right?
00:30:18.480 --> 00:30:23.680
I can sit here and study human behavior, Jack, uninterrupted for hours.
00:30:23.680 --> 00:30:24.720
I love it.
00:30:24.720 --> 00:30:25.759
I love it.
00:30:25.759 --> 00:30:28.640
And so, where's your energy going?
00:30:28.640 --> 00:30:33.200
And what gives you more energy after you're done doing it than what you had before?
00:30:33.200 --> 00:30:35.440
And then fourth is money.
00:30:35.440 --> 00:30:37.599
Where do you spend your money at?
00:30:37.599 --> 00:30:44.720
We spend our money and invest our money in direct proportion to our hierarchy of values.
00:30:44.720 --> 00:30:46.960
So this is a really interesting one, right?
00:30:46.960 --> 00:30:50.640
Because most people say they want to be financially free.
00:30:50.640 --> 00:30:54.160
And at a conscious level, maybe they do.
00:30:54.160 --> 00:30:56.960
But what does financial freedom actually mean to them?
00:30:56.960 --> 00:31:01.680
Does it mean cars and boats and houses and travel and luxury items?
00:31:01.680 --> 00:31:04.240
Or does it mean I want to learn to invest?
00:31:04.240 --> 00:31:12.960
I want to learn to preserve my wealth, I want to learn how to make more money so I can steward it into the right places to grow my income, grow my net worth.
00:31:12.960 --> 00:31:19.200
If you ask a room of hundreds of people, almost every hand will go up that they want to be financially free.
00:31:19.200 --> 00:31:26.160
However, how many people in that room are actually financially free, at least in America, not that many, right?
00:31:26.160 --> 00:31:41.839
So when we look at that hierarchy of values, you're spending your money in accordance to what you actually value, and whether that's consumable depreciating assets or whether that's actual investments that are gonna grow over time into something of value.
00:31:41.839 --> 00:31:53.119
But you can look at someone's values hierarchy and tell with pretty high degree of certainty whether this individual is ever actually gonna achieve financial freedom or not.
00:31:53.119 --> 00:31:56.799
Because if it's not on their values, they might start investing, Jack.
00:31:56.799 --> 00:32:03.119
They might start allocating funds, they might start doing that, but it's not gonna last because it's not inherently valuable to them.
00:32:03.119 --> 00:32:07.839
So to the fitness question, back to the fitness question.
00:32:07.839 --> 00:32:16.960
Linking our fitness goals to our highest values is a phenomenal way to increase the probability that we're actually gonna stick it through.
00:32:16.960 --> 00:32:20.960
And now I want to open up another can of worms here with you, real quick.
00:32:20.960 --> 00:32:28.319
I know that we've only got so much time, but there's also three ways out that this is outside of the values conversation.
00:32:28.319 --> 00:32:34.000
There's also three ways that human beings change and how identity changes.
00:32:34.000 --> 00:32:40.720
Those three ways are conditioning, significant emotional events, and environment.
00:32:40.720 --> 00:32:46.240
So the values can be shifted that way too, right?
00:32:46.240 --> 00:32:53.599
We can condition through questions new neural pathways to increase and decrease values for individuals.
00:32:53.599 --> 00:32:56.799
That can be conditioned, and that's part of what we do at Let's Get Human.
00:32:56.799 --> 00:33:04.880
The other part of this is when you have had a significant emotional event, that can shift your priorities, right?
00:33:04.880 --> 00:33:05.759
We all know that.
00:33:05.759 --> 00:33:13.759
If you've had something positive like a child come into your life, that's a phenomenal thing that immediately shifts most people's priorities.
00:33:13.759 --> 00:33:19.839
If you've had something bad like a car crash, that can be something that shifts your priorities and your values.
00:33:19.839 --> 00:33:21.359
If you've had a health scare.
00:33:21.359 --> 00:33:28.400
So those are three common things throughout life that can shift identity, shift values, and make your priorities different.
00:33:28.400 --> 00:33:44.960
But if you want to do this consciously, that's where the work comes into going, okay, we know what our values hierarchy is, we know what our value structure is, and now we're gonna go to work to do the to to consciously shift these around to make sure that we're actually achieving our goals, our dreams, and our aspirations.
00:33:47.519 --> 00:33:54.240
Like I said before, I've recorded just over 300 episodes now, and no one's really put it like that, finding your values.
00:33:54.240 --> 00:33:56.880
And I appreciate how you just explained that.
00:33:56.880 --> 00:33:58.640
And I think people are just gonna skip over that.
00:33:58.640 --> 00:34:10.079
So I'm gonna timestamp that for everybody listening and watching to go back and listen to that again because what you just did, you just took your environment like you said, your space, time, money energy.
00:34:10.079 --> 00:34:14.000
Energy, but you stopped and looked at it to find your values.
00:34:14.000 --> 00:34:29.119
Where most people, like you said, will just sit down and go, Oh, I want to be financially free, I want this, this, and this, and they just again they're just thinking about things that they want, not actually taking the time to s to stop, look around their actual life and figure out what their values are now.
00:34:29.119 --> 00:34:35.760
So that that's uh that's a great I I'm gonna do that for myself and I'm gonna start getting it my clients to do it.
00:34:35.760 --> 00:34:45.519
Because as you were talking, I was coming up with a couple of scenarios where like what you're saying and what people do just don't add up.
00:34:45.519 --> 00:34:45.840
Yes.
00:34:45.840 --> 00:35:04.559
And people know that I'm a personal trainer, and when I'm walking past a massage chair, they'll start justifying why they're in the massage chair instead of the gym to me.
00:35:04.559 --> 00:35:07.920
And like they're not my clients, but they just start doing it.
00:35:07.920 --> 00:35:16.719
And I know that that's them trying to justify why they're sitting down, getting a massage rather than exercising to themselves, and I try to explain that to them.
00:35:16.719 --> 00:35:25.440
So like not all the time people will like people like to tell themselves stories that this is better for me than the actual thing that is better for them.
00:35:25.440 --> 00:35:34.800
And I think what you just explained is a good way of trying to catch that because it's way more beneficial going into the gym and exercising than sitting in a massage chair for 60 minutes.
00:35:34.800 --> 00:35:35.679
We all know that.
00:35:35.679 --> 00:35:43.599
But again, it's the story we tell ourselves that the massage chair is health and fitness, so I'm gonna sit there for 60 minutes and do that.
00:35:45.360 --> 00:35:53.360
And at that moment, in that exact moment of time, there's more advantage than disadvantage to sitting in the massage chair than there is to go get a workout in.
00:35:53.360 --> 00:35:55.360
And and their perception, right?
00:35:55.360 --> 00:36:01.519
All of this is perception, and that and that's what I want to lead to into the next kind of segment of our conversation.
00:36:01.519 --> 00:36:09.039
So your your hierarchy of values determines how you perceive, how you decide, and how you act within the world.
00:36:09.039 --> 00:36:20.559
So, what that means, if a single mom or just a mom goes into a shopping mall, she's going to perceive that mall through the lens of being a mother.
00:36:20.559 --> 00:36:32.639
She's gonna see backpacks, she's gonna see children's books, she's gonna see toys, she's gonna see all sorts of things that help her fulfill her highest value of being a mom and the kiddos, right?
00:36:32.639 --> 00:36:40.880
If a businessman walks into the exact same mall, they're not going to even remotely perceive the same things.
00:36:40.880 --> 00:36:43.519
They're going to perceive laptops, right?
00:36:43.519 --> 00:36:50.000
They're gonna perceive business books, they're gonna perceive whatever's there that's going to help them fulfill their mission.
00:36:50.000 --> 00:37:01.679
And this is where the conscious and the subconscious split, Jack, because we're all we all have the same five senses, and we're all bringing in the same information all the time.
00:37:01.679 --> 00:37:07.440
But what determines what goes subconscious versus conscious is your values hierarchy.
00:37:07.440 --> 00:37:11.920
So you actually have an area in the brain called the pulvanar nuclei in the thalamus.
00:37:11.920 --> 00:37:18.239
It's a filtering mechanism in the brain that determines what comes to conscious awareness and stays subconscious.
00:37:18.239 --> 00:37:23.360
So when you're walking in, this is not only psychological, this is very neurological as well.
00:37:23.360 --> 00:37:30.000
So I walk in, I perceive the things that are going to help me fulfill what I'm valuing at that time, and I walk out, right?
00:37:30.000 --> 00:37:36.719
And all of the other other other information, it's still there, but it's not consciously accessible right now.
00:37:39.360 --> 00:37:48.480
And I think the issue that a lot of people get frustrated is because they're seeing it through their perception and they just assume everybody else is seeing it through their perception.
00:37:48.480 --> 00:37:51.760
Like you said, we're all different, we have all influenced in different ways.
00:37:51.840 --> 00:37:54.320
So we see the world as we are, not as it is, right?
00:37:54.320 --> 00:37:57.119
That's that's the difference between reality and actuality.
00:37:57.119 --> 00:38:15.440
Reality is the is the subconsciously biased perception that I have from my own stories, my own experiences, my own beliefs, and my my own upbringing that I have, you know, basically put a filter on reality versus actuality is just simply what's really there, right?
00:38:15.440 --> 00:38:22.880
And that that filters into the Di Martini method that I've been formerly trained in and is just absolutely phenomenal and life-changing.
00:38:22.880 --> 00:38:30.880
So I'm not asking people when they come to me to make something, to make something positive that wasn't positive.
00:38:30.880 --> 00:38:41.119
I'm simply asking them to take accountability and look at the other side of the event because everything is only an event until we assign meaning to it.
00:38:41.119 --> 00:38:43.440
And that's what the amygdala does.
00:38:43.440 --> 00:38:51.119
Information comes in, something happens, past and past previous experiences influence how we think and feel about today.
00:38:51.119 --> 00:38:54.559
We label things and we make associations in the brain.
00:38:54.559 --> 00:39:05.440
We you know, tuck them away as good, bad, right or wrong, you know, negative or positive, and then we move in accordance to the subconscious associations, not necessarily the conscious awareness.
00:39:05.440 --> 00:39:21.199
So that's what the Di Martini method allows in my in my program that I take people through is sitting down and going, okay, what specific trait, action or inaction am I displaying or demonstrating that I like or despise the most?
00:39:21.199 --> 00:39:22.880
That's where we start, right?
00:39:22.880 --> 00:39:25.199
So I'm not interested in the story, Jack.
00:39:25.199 --> 00:39:28.960
There's a lot of people that are interested in the narratives and the beliefs and the story.
00:39:28.960 --> 00:39:51.360
I'm interested in actually helping people break free from their subconscious baggage so they can live in alignment with their life, align their values with what's actually meaningful to them, get rid of the subconscious crap that they're carrying around for however many years, months, days, and explode out of it so that they can see the benefits to what they thought was disadvantageous and go for it.
00:39:51.360 --> 00:39:55.440
Give them pers give themselves permission to live life to the fullest.
00:39:56.800 --> 00:39:57.840
Again, love that.
00:39:57.840 --> 00:40:07.199
A lot of people spend a lot of time thinking about the past and thinking about the future, like where they've been and where they want to go, but they don't take the time to sit and where they are now and what they're actually doing now.
00:40:07.199 --> 00:40:09.119
So again, super powerful.
00:40:09.119 --> 00:40:11.199
And I think that'll go into my next question.
00:40:11.199 --> 00:40:16.719
At the start, you talked about you learnt how some people win and some people think about winning.
00:40:16.960 --> 00:40:17.360
Yes.
00:40:17.599 --> 00:40:19.519
Can you dive into that a little bit more?
00:40:20.159 --> 00:40:27.280
And that's been one of the things that has driven me for the past 10 years to become phenomenal in this field.
00:40:27.280 --> 00:40:32.639
Is why do some of us walk our talk and some of us limp through life?
00:40:32.639 --> 00:40:40.159
And that comes down directly to living in accordance with what you value the most, right?
00:40:40.159 --> 00:40:53.840
So we we have we have terms like, you know, and and I'm not a clinician, I'm not a doctor, I'm not a therapist, I'm just a guy that knows a little something about something, but we have terms like ADHD and attention deficit disorder and all of these things.
00:40:53.840 --> 00:40:59.119
Well, what about attention or what about retention order, right?
00:40:59.119 --> 00:41:08.239
What about going in and having the ability to retain something to a degree that you're so freaking good at it and you know it like the back of your hand?
00:41:08.239 --> 00:41:18.960
Well, that's what happens when you're fulfilling your highest values is you your retention goes up, your inspiration goes up, your your willingness to learn it goes up because it's actually meaningful to you.
00:41:18.960 --> 00:41:25.440
So how do we actually make progress or at least increase the probability of making progress?
00:41:25.440 --> 00:41:36.880
The very first thing is to go through the values assessment and understand what's really the driving force underneath every perception, perception, decision, and action you're making, because that's what's driving everything.
00:41:36.880 --> 00:41:43.519
And if I if we don't have that, none of the other stuff really matters because I we don't know the blueprint that we're operating out of, right?
00:41:43.519 --> 00:41:49.039
Like we I'm not here to tell anybody, Jack, what they should do or ought to do or need to do or could do or might do.
00:41:49.039 --> 00:42:06.719
I'm here to discover what's intrinsically meaningful to them, what their telos is, what their inspiration is, what they aspire to be, and what they intend to do, and then help them align the action steps to actually doing that so that they increase the probability of achievement.
00:42:06.719 --> 00:42:12.320
So when no one has to remind you to do something, you're gonna rock and roll and you're gonna wake up every day.
00:42:12.320 --> 00:42:22.719
And now most people, most people highly underestimate what they can do in a certain amount of time and they try to crunch all of it into a super small amount of time.
00:42:22.719 --> 00:42:32.480
They give themselves no strategy, they don't, they, they don't have the they don't have the belief, they don't have the capability, they don't have the strategy, and they're sure as hell not gonna get the result, right?
00:42:32.480 --> 00:42:35.599
So I can be here and I love positive thinking, right?
00:42:35.599 --> 00:42:38.480
I I I absolutely love positive thinking and positive self-talk.
00:42:38.480 --> 00:42:39.519
It's necessary.
00:42:39.519 --> 00:42:47.199
But saying I think I can, I think I can, I think I can, I think I can, it's not gonna move the needle if you don't feel if you don't have the capabilities.
00:42:47.199 --> 00:42:54.320
And if you don't, if you have the belief and the capability, but you don't have a strategy, it's gonna be really hard to land where you want to go.
00:42:54.320 --> 00:42:59.280
If you have the belief and you have the strategy, but you don't have the capability, you're gonna be in limbo.
00:42:59.280 --> 00:43:04.400
If you have the capability and the strategy, but you don't have the belief, you're gonna self-sabotage, right?
00:43:04.400 --> 00:43:15.280
So you you need you need all four of those things in order to actually increase the level of achievement to getting to the the probability of getting what you want.
00:43:15.280 --> 00:43:24.400
And if you do have all four of those things and then you're still not achieving it, then either the belief is wrong or the strategy is flawed, right?
00:43:24.400 --> 00:43:25.519
It's one of the two.
00:43:25.519 --> 00:43:34.239
And and that's and that's where most people fall, and that's where most people fall is they go, okay, I had the strategy.
00:43:34.239 --> 00:43:41.920
It's I'm sure everybody's heard, you know, you can give the two two people the same business plan, one of them will go make a million dollars and the other one will go broke.
00:43:41.920 --> 00:43:44.239
Well, the belief wasn't there, right?
00:43:44.239 --> 00:43:49.039
So if I if I don't believe, Jack, that I can do it, I'm not even gonna try.
00:43:49.039 --> 00:43:49.840
Why would I?
00:43:49.840 --> 00:43:51.360
I don't believe I can, right?
00:43:51.360 --> 00:43:59.760
But if I do believe I can do it, the very first step in this is to believe you can do it and align your values with and discover what your values are.
00:43:59.760 --> 00:44:04.079
Values are and then begin to align them with the life that you say you want to have.
00:44:04.079 --> 00:44:07.679
And now here's the thing values can change over time, and that's great.
00:44:07.679 --> 00:44:25.119
That's why it's good to reassess your values every 90 days or so because life happens, things happen, situations change, and you want to have that conscious awareness of where your values are at today so that you can make sure that you're living in alignment with that because your health is exponentially better.
00:44:25.119 --> 00:44:37.920
Your physical health and your mental health are exponentially better when you are waking up inspired and in a jovial mood and you're happy and you can see a future that's compelling enough to you to want to move forward.
00:44:39.599 --> 00:44:41.440
100% agree with that.
00:44:42.639 --> 00:44:44.159
Am I answering your questions?
00:44:44.159 --> 00:44:47.360
I I know I'm I know I'm talking a lot, but am I answering the questions?
00:44:47.840 --> 00:44:51.519
And it's going into like into my next question.
00:44:51.519 --> 00:44:58.239
I think it might sort of double up, but I think it's going to tie into what you just answered as well, really well.
00:44:58.239 --> 00:45:10.559
One of the things I've noticed with you is yes, you went to all these talks, you read all the books, you've probably listened to all the podcasts, you took all the inform this information in, but you also took action.
00:45:10.559 --> 00:45:18.719
And I think that's what a lot of people are missing, that execution of taking action on on the information they're absorbing.
00:45:18.719 --> 00:45:28.639
Like The Secret was a great movie, but I think it sort of stuffed a lot of people up because they thought that they could just sit there and think and absorb more and absorb more and eventually it'll just happen.
00:45:28.639 --> 00:45:30.719
But they also need to take action.
00:45:30.719 --> 00:45:50.880
So I I was just trying to figure out how maybe I'll ask you, do you know like why you actually took action rather than just sitting there absorbing and what can people take away from that so they don't get caught in the trap of just next podcast, next book, next talk, just keep going through the circle without actually breaking out of the circle and taking action.
00:45:51.599 --> 00:45:54.320
Jack, this one hits home for me so hard.
00:45:54.320 --> 00:46:02.320
Um, and I'm and I'm honestly about to get emotional with this because it I I've I've as simple as that question is, it's very meaningful.
00:46:02.320 --> 00:46:06.239
Um I've been doing this since I was 17.
00:46:06.239 --> 00:46:22.639
And and I have I made the commitment to myself that until I knew that I knew that I knew what I was talking about, I was not gonna be a talking head.
00:46:22.639 --> 00:46:23.119
Right?
00:46:23.119 --> 00:46:34.880
I was not gonna take stages, I was not gonna be on panels, I was not, I wasn't gonna do it because there's so many people out there that read a book or take a weekend class and think that they freaking know it all.
00:46:34.880 --> 00:46:40.159
And next thing you know, they're on stage spewing a bunch of crap, and then you're like, what are you talking about?
00:46:40.159 --> 00:46:45.199
That that no, that that's not that's not how it works even remotely.
00:46:45.199 --> 00:47:03.199
And so what inspired me, I've been taking action because this has inherently been important to me for a long time, but I was fearful personally that I would get out there and that I would misinform someone.
00:47:03.199 --> 00:47:06.800
And that held me back, Jack, for years.
00:47:06.800 --> 00:47:10.639
And now that was my form of self-sabotage, right?
00:47:10.639 --> 00:47:19.599
Going, okay, I I I know all these things, I'm educated, I've I've spent my you know, a thousand hours on this topic, I've read 300 books, but what if I get it wrong?
00:47:19.599 --> 00:47:24.079
Man, newsflash, I'm gonna, I'm gonna, right?
00:47:24.079 --> 00:47:28.320
I'm gonna give people the absolute best information that I have.
00:47:28.320 --> 00:47:32.480
I'm gonna deliver to the absolute highest quality that I can deliver to.
00:47:32.480 --> 00:47:39.760
And when I find out that there's a better way or there's a different way that that could help someone achieve their results, I will be the first one to tell you.
00:47:39.760 --> 00:47:53.199
But what finally inspired me to take action was getting to the point in my knowledge enough and in my experience enough where I intrinsically knew what I was doing.
00:47:53.199 --> 00:47:55.199
It gave me the confidence, right?
00:47:55.199 --> 00:47:57.679
So, and it took me, it took me a long time to get there.
00:47:57.679 --> 00:48:03.599
And to be completely honest, I probably went way overboard in the amount of education that I have.
00:48:03.599 --> 00:48:13.840
But now that I've done that and I did it that way, now the credibility factor is there and the ability to actually move in confidence and competence, right?
00:48:13.840 --> 00:48:16.079
Confidence comes from competence.
00:48:16.079 --> 00:48:22.000
Confidence comes from knowing what the hell you're doing and doing it really, really, really well over and over and over and over and over.
00:48:22.000 --> 00:48:28.800
So that's what inspired me was going, okay, I finally got to the crux of knowing enough.
00:48:28.800 --> 00:48:37.199
And this is a trap in the personal development industry, by the way, where people think that that they need more information, they need more, another talk, another seminar.
00:48:37.199 --> 00:48:39.920
I'm telling you right now, no, you don't.
00:48:39.920 --> 00:48:47.679
You need to take what you got, you need to run with it and go serve people with it to the highest capacity that you have available to you right now.
00:48:47.679 --> 00:48:51.039
And when you are ready for more, more will be presented to you.
00:48:51.039 --> 00:48:58.559
But if there's if there's anything that I wish I did different, Jack, it's that I got out there and started doing this sooner.
00:48:58.559 --> 00:49:05.360
Because I'm sitting here freaking 10 feet tall and ready to rock, but it could this this could have been way sooner.
00:49:05.360 --> 00:49:10.800
But I had my own biases against my own self that told me, Corbin, you're not ready.
00:49:10.800 --> 00:49:13.440
Corbin, that's that that might not be right.
00:49:13.440 --> 00:49:16.719
That might not be the latest neuroscience, that might not be this.
00:49:16.719 --> 00:49:18.880
And to be honest, you're probably right.
00:49:18.880 --> 00:49:24.719
Maybe it's not, but it's what I know, and it's what I know to be true, and that's the gift that I'm gonna share to the world.
00:49:24.719 --> 00:49:34.559
And when I get, when I get better, more updated information, I'll be the first one to know it, and I'll be the first one to say, hey man, that was that was great back then, but the more updated stuff is now, right?
00:49:34.559 --> 00:49:47.760
And that that's that's what I would encourage people with is if they're if they're scared, that is a self-sabotage mechanism that is sitting there and it's going, oh man, you know, what are we gonna do?
00:49:47.760 --> 00:49:48.800
But guess what, Jack?
00:49:48.800 --> 00:49:51.280
Anything worth doing is gonna scare the hell out of you.
00:49:51.280 --> 00:49:56.079
If it ain't scary, like you, you don't, it's not forcing you to grow, right?
00:49:56.079 --> 00:50:00.559
If something doesn't scare you, at least initially, it's not forcing you to grow.
00:50:00.559 --> 00:50:03.119
So what how is that fear serving you?
00:50:03.119 --> 00:50:06.079
Is that fear telling you to go get more competent?
00:50:06.079 --> 00:50:10.719
Is that fear telling you to go, you know, what's that fear guiding you to?
00:50:10.719 --> 00:50:17.039
Because fear is not meant to hold us back, it's meant to guide us in intuitively into something that we need to go do.
00:50:17.039 --> 00:50:19.119
So that's why I'm here now, right?
00:50:19.119 --> 00:50:24.079
I went, okay, I held me back for right or for wrong, for better or for worse.
00:50:24.079 --> 00:50:39.840
But man, I can tell you, we can sure help people break through and we can sure help people have one hell of an aligned life if they're willing to do the work, and we can come to the table with absolute certainty that what we're doing is is a phenomenal strategy to help people live in alignment.
00:50:41.599 --> 00:50:42.320
Uh 100%.
00:50:42.320 --> 00:50:43.119
I'll have to be asked.
00:50:43.119 --> 00:50:44.639
Yeah, yeah.
00:50:44.639 --> 00:50:56.639
I had a guest on a couple of weeks ago, and we'll have a discussion, and she was explaining how uh fear, anxiety, whatever you want to call it, is very similar to excitement, but we always get it mixed up.
00:50:56.639 --> 00:51:05.920
And we always lean towards fear or anxiety because it's just our safety mechanism instead of leaning into that excitement and chasing whatever it is.
00:51:05.920 --> 00:51:08.000
So a hundred percent agree.
00:51:08.480 --> 00:51:09.440
I love it, man.
00:51:09.440 --> 00:51:10.400
I love it.
00:51:10.800 --> 00:51:11.199
All right.
00:51:11.199 --> 00:51:15.360
I know we haven't got long, so bet I've got a long list of things I want to talk about.
00:51:15.599 --> 00:51:16.719
Yeah, have you got the time, man?
00:51:16.719 --> 00:51:17.840
I I'm all yours.
00:51:17.840 --> 00:51:18.960
We can keep rocking.
00:51:18.960 --> 00:51:28.239
I I Jack, you're giving you're giving me the opportunity to share my heart and share my mind and what I've been committed to for a lot of years, and I really appreciate that.
00:51:28.239 --> 00:51:44.079
So I I hope that the val that the listeners are getting a tremendous value out of this, and I'm very excited for those for those select few that are ready to take action and want to see something different in 2027 and want to live more in alignment.
00:51:44.079 --> 00:51:49.440
I'm so excited for your for your listeners to reach out and for us to have a a healthy conversation.
00:51:49.760 --> 00:51:50.159
100%.
00:51:50.159 --> 00:51:56.880
And let's dive into that uh taking action, initiating that excitement into something.
00:51:56.880 --> 00:52:01.679
Because I like I said, I think that's a l a place where a lot of people struggle because they do get scared.
00:52:01.679 --> 00:52:03.760
They have a bit of anxiety about starting.
00:52:03.760 --> 00:52:08.400
I'm just obviously I'm per like I'm a personal trainer, so I'm just gonna use health and fitness as an example.
00:52:08.400 --> 00:52:22.320
They get excited, they get all their clothes out for the morning and they got their water bottle, their gym bag packed, they get dressed and then they don't go because that fear or anxiety of going to the gym just stops them.
00:52:22.320 --> 00:52:34.800
So in that moment of wanting to take action, but they're leaning more towards the fear or the anxiety anxiety instead of that excitement, how can we get them to sort of lean towards excitement and take action?
00:52:37.679 --> 00:52:39.599
What are they doing it for?
00:52:39.599 --> 00:52:44.000
Why why are why right?
00:52:44.000 --> 00:52:45.519
Why are we here?
00:52:46.239 --> 00:52:51.039
Because if the why is big enough, the how figures itself out.
00:52:51.039 --> 00:53:00.320
So if someone wants to lose 10 pounds, give me a give me 200 reasons why.
00:53:00.320 --> 00:53:05.039
And I guarantee you it ain't gonna be a heavy door anymore, Jack.
00:53:05.039 --> 00:53:17.280
If you if you can come up with benefit after benefit after benefit after benefit after benefit after benefit after benefit, we begin to rewire the brain, right?
00:53:17.280 --> 00:53:23.119
We begin to go, okay, I begin to see that there's that there's advantage to doing this.
00:53:23.119 --> 00:53:26.320
And man, sometimes things are just uncomfortable, right?
00:53:26.320 --> 00:53:31.119
Like there's there, this is all of the work side to this that we can do, Jack.
00:53:31.119 --> 00:53:39.360
Like well, you you can sit down with me and spend a couple hours with me and have breakthroughs and and rewire the rewire the neurons and all of that.
00:53:39.360 --> 00:53:46.880
And sometimes you just gotta go, okay, sometimes things just suck and you do them anyway, right?
00:53:46.880 --> 00:53:52.559
I've been there, you've been there, and working out probably will never be fun, right?
00:53:52.559 --> 00:53:55.920
Get it get losing the weight will probably never be fun.
00:53:55.920 --> 00:53:59.440
But let's take a look at it and go, okay, what's the benefit?
00:53:59.440 --> 00:54:00.480
What's the benefit here?
00:54:00.480 --> 00:54:01.920
Because there's a ton of them.
00:54:01.920 --> 00:54:06.400
Um, and I and and you know, they deserve it.
00:54:06.400 --> 00:54:08.000
They deserve it.
00:54:08.000 --> 00:54:19.920
People deserve to feel happy, people deserve to feel healthy, people deserve to be abundant, people's families deserve to have them abundant, people's uh people freaking deserve it, man.
00:54:19.920 --> 00:54:21.440
And that's the biggest thing.
00:54:21.440 --> 00:54:25.119
And and that was one thing that that I worked on with myself too.
00:54:25.119 --> 00:54:32.960
I'm like, I deserve to be in the articles, in the publications, on the stages, coaching people.
00:54:32.960 --> 00:54:34.719
I I deserve this.
00:54:34.719 --> 00:54:39.280
And so that positive self-talk, it's important.
00:54:39.280 --> 00:54:48.880
It's really important because uh we know it sucks, but man, it all uh the new the new scientific evidence, it only takes 66 days to form the new habit.
00:54:48.880 --> 00:54:53.280
You get up and and you only you only have to do simple things, right?
00:54:53.280 --> 00:55:05.760
So, like let's let's move out of the out of the values conversation, kind of more into some tactical stuff for people to actually do be do and have what they want today, not and see how we can move the needle.
00:55:05.760 --> 00:55:14.159
So if I want to begin to change a habit, let's just say my room's messy, okay?
00:55:14.159 --> 00:55:23.119
Well, there's there's going to be an underhaul of things that I have to do to get my room clean as a whistle.
00:55:23.119 --> 00:55:27.440
And this, these might sound silly, but I promise you they work.
00:55:27.440 --> 00:55:31.760
So maybe what I do is tell myself I'm gonna pick up a sock.
00:55:31.760 --> 00:55:32.719
And I do it.
00:55:32.719 --> 00:55:35.760
And Jack, that's all I did, but I did it.
00:55:35.760 --> 00:55:36.800
And guess what?
00:55:36.800 --> 00:55:38.480
I got a hit of dopamine.
00:55:38.480 --> 00:55:39.280
Okay.
00:55:39.280 --> 00:55:43.039
I proved myself that I was gonna do what I said I was gonna do.
00:55:43.039 --> 00:55:44.239
Boom.
00:55:44.239 --> 00:55:45.039
Moving on.
00:55:45.039 --> 00:55:45.920
Next day.
00:55:45.920 --> 00:55:49.119
Okay, maybe I can pick up the pants and the shirt next.
00:55:49.119 --> 00:55:50.239
I did it.
00:55:50.239 --> 00:55:56.239
I proved myself that I was gonna do it, and I got the dopamine hit again from doing it, from from moving towards the goal.
00:55:56.239 --> 00:55:59.519
Next thing you know, your entire room's clean.
00:56:00.800 --> 00:56:01.199
Right?
00:56:01.199 --> 00:56:05.119
So, in terms of the working out, let's let's go back to that.
00:56:05.360 --> 00:56:08.159
I I put my workout clothes on.
00:56:08.159 --> 00:56:09.760
Good job.
00:56:09.760 --> 00:56:15.920
Like, this might sound so elementary to people and be like, man, what is this Corbin guy talking about?
00:56:15.920 --> 00:56:29.199
But it's true because you're starting to create a new identity of the person that does what they say they're gonna do, the person that does make money, the person that does work out, the person that does have what they say they want.
00:56:29.199 --> 00:56:32.480
And it does not matter how small you start.
00:56:32.480 --> 00:56:33.920
It doesn't matter at all.
00:56:33.920 --> 00:56:36.719
What matters is that you habituate it.
00:56:36.719 --> 00:56:40.000
So I put on my workout clothes and I drove to the gym.
00:56:40.000 --> 00:56:44.320
And let's just be honest, if you drive all the way to the gym, you're probably gonna get out.
00:56:44.320 --> 00:56:49.840
So you got out at the gym, and man, you hit a good 10-minute workout.
00:56:49.840 --> 00:56:50.719
Great.
00:56:50.719 --> 00:56:52.639
You did what you said you were gonna do.
00:56:52.639 --> 00:56:59.840
The dopaminergic system is being activated, and you're starting to prove to not only the world, but also yourself that you're gonna do it.
00:56:59.840 --> 00:57:05.840
Next thing you know, you increased it by another two minutes, another five minutes, another seven minutes, and now you work out.
00:57:05.840 --> 00:57:06.559
Ta-da.
00:57:06.559 --> 00:57:08.079
Right?
00:57:08.079 --> 00:57:28.239
So most people are trying to undertake this big ass goal that they are not ready for, they don't have the identity for, and they have no strategy in place to achieve it, versus going, okay, let's start as simple and as elementary as possible.
00:57:28.239 --> 00:57:36.800
And I'm gonna do one thing every single day to build up my belief in myself and to build up the confidence that I'm actually gonna do it.
00:57:36.800 --> 00:57:40.639
And then once I do that enough, now it's habituated.
00:57:40.639 --> 00:57:42.960
So now you just go.
00:57:42.960 --> 00:57:44.159
Ta-da.
00:57:45.760 --> 00:57:49.199
And I'm I I'm glad you put it like that, and I 100% agree.
00:57:49.199 --> 00:57:57.840
I I've got a few I know a few people at the gyms, like sometimes when they're building that habit, they'd literally get to the gym, walk in, look around, and turn around and go out.
00:57:57.840 --> 00:57:59.440
But when I said, like, what are you doing?
00:57:59.440 --> 00:58:02.320
It's like I'm just building that habit of just going to the gym.
00:58:02.320 --> 00:58:02.719
Yes.
00:58:02.719 --> 00:58:09.440
Once you build that habit, eventually you just start doing stuff, and then now they spend a couple of hours there exercising and doing what they need to.
00:58:09.440 --> 00:58:10.159
Yes.
00:58:10.159 --> 00:58:17.199
I think it's a big trap, again, that personal development trap of just social media probably has a big role to play in this as well.
00:58:17.199 --> 00:58:40.320
Like people are too scared of starting because they think they need to start up here with the biggest goals, the biggest achievements, uh absolutely smashing everything, but it really starts down here with small little steps, doing the easy stuff that just snowballs like like we're saying at the start before we hit record, but you've been doing this for ten years, and those that little bit, little bit, little bit is now that big snowball of just what you're doing now.
00:58:40.320 --> 00:58:47.039
But it takes ten years to build it, where people just think that they need to start at that ten-year point on day one.
00:58:47.519 --> 00:58:51.039
There's there's something called the licensing effect.
00:58:51.039 --> 00:58:56.719
And what the licensing effect is, is if I give so we all have an equilibrium, right?
00:58:56.719 --> 00:59:00.079
We all we all have a a place where we sit.
00:59:00.079 --> 00:59:18.000
And if I give myself permission, if I go do something, Jack, that I'm proud of, I will automatically, unconsciously give myself permission to do something that I'm ashamed of to bring myself back into equilibrium.
00:59:18.000 --> 00:59:29.679
And if I go do something that I'm ashamed of, I'll go unconsciously, automatically give myself permission to do something that I'm proud of to bring myself back into equilibrium.
00:59:29.679 --> 00:59:44.800
So when it comes to fitness and mindset, if someone goes and crushes an hour and a half workout with you, and man, they drank their protein and they did their thing, well, don't be surprised if they go be gluttonous the next day.
00:59:44.800 --> 00:59:52.719
Don't be surprised if they go drink a little too much or if they give themselves permission, they earned their day off, right?
00:59:52.719 --> 01:00:10.079
Because that that's the licensing effect completely at play where that's where do it making someone, you know, ha having someone shoot all the way up here, it's like, okay, if that's not their identity, then they're gonna do something to self-sabotage it because that is how the human operating system works.
01:00:10.079 --> 01:00:18.320
So now if we if we stay, if we stay in equilibrium, then that licensing effect doesn't necessarily need to kick in.
01:00:18.320 --> 01:00:24.880
Like if if I if I'm not over here feeling puffed up and proud, I don't have to be humbled.
01:00:24.880 --> 01:00:29.440
I don't have to do something to make me feel more shame to be back in equilibrium.
01:00:29.440 --> 01:00:33.760
If I am just simply, I set out to do what I wanted to do and I achieved it.
01:00:33.760 --> 01:00:38.960
See, this is where I don't really look as success and failure in the in the bubbles that most people look at.
01:00:38.960 --> 01:00:43.599
I look at the mission, I look at the vision, and I look at what I need to do to achieve that.
01:00:43.599 --> 01:00:47.199
Because mission does not have success or fail.
01:00:47.199 --> 01:00:54.719
Or well, I mean, there's yes, you can succeed or fail with a mission, but it does not have pride or shame associated to it, right?
01:00:54.719 --> 01:00:58.559
Success and failure have pride and shame associated.
01:00:58.559 --> 01:01:04.239
Those are two counterbalancing states of being that have to equalize each other out.
01:01:04.239 --> 01:01:11.039
So if I just stay on mission and I take the pride and the shame out of it, now I'm just moving in accordance to my values.
01:01:11.039 --> 01:01:21.199
The licensing effect doesn't necessarily have to slap me upside the head, and I get to achieve what I want, how I wanted to do it, that's in accordance with my values, and I still feel good about it.
01:01:24.719 --> 01:01:26.400
Two different directions I want to go with that.
01:01:26.400 --> 01:01:31.119
I'm gonna go with my personal get a little bit more out of this for myself.
01:01:31.119 --> 01:01:39.679
So when you're say talking about equilibrium, I I come from a health and fitness sporting performance background.
01:01:39.679 --> 01:01:43.280
So it's alm always like you're chasing that performance goal.
01:01:43.280 --> 01:01:47.119
You've got to push, work hard, achieve, achieve, achieve.
01:01:47.119 --> 01:01:55.280
And recently I've started realizing, like you said, if you just come down, instead of like doing absolutely nothing on the other end, you you hit that equilibrium.
01:01:55.280 --> 01:02:07.599
But in business, in life, try trying to find that purpose of why I'm doing this, I find it very hard sometimes when I hit that equilibrium, I just haven't got that drive to move forwards.
01:02:07.599 --> 01:02:10.719
And I know but when I get there, things are great.
01:02:10.719 --> 01:02:14.880
I achieve more, I make more, I help more people, uh it's absolutely amazing.
01:02:14.880 --> 01:02:29.119
But I also drop out of it because I haven't got that pull to pull me forwards and I haven't got that performance side of things that obviously, you know, as I'm talking about this, it's that like previous thing where I need to be working hard and perform to actually achieve.
01:02:29.119 --> 01:02:37.599
And I know that's not true, but I lose that, I guess I don't want to call it ego, but that something that drives me forwards to achieve something.
01:02:37.599 --> 01:02:39.599
And you could use a health and fitness goal as well.
01:02:39.599 --> 01:02:40.639
I see this all the time.
01:02:40.639 --> 01:03:01.440
So people come in and they're excited and they want to see those numbers going down on the scales, numbers going up in the lifts, but if I just get them to maintain and slowly, progressively overload, it's very hard to keep them entertained because the progress is so slow, but it is so good, and they get way better results in that equilibrium where they're not going too hard or not too soft.
01:03:02.000 --> 01:03:24.159
I don't know if that was a question in there or just a ramble, but so yeah, so so in terms of motivation, um again, like somebody somebody might hit that goal, and that goal will feel good, but is that now their new set point, or are they gonna drop back down to where their current identity is, right?
01:03:24.159 --> 01:03:27.599
And that that's a whole nother topic of conversation that we could get into.
01:03:27.599 --> 01:03:32.880
But um that that is a very good point.
01:03:32.880 --> 01:03:34.960
And this is the thing about dopamine.
01:03:34.960 --> 01:03:42.079
People think that the dopamine is that that the dopamine reward is the achievement.
01:03:42.079 --> 01:03:46.079
What you what you get that hippo that hit of dopamine when you achieve it.
01:03:46.079 --> 01:03:54.000
Dopamine, the dopaminergic system is what moves you forward towards a meaningful goal.
01:03:54.000 --> 01:04:02.719
That's what the dopamine dopaminergic system actually does is moves you towards something that's meaningful, right?
01:04:02.719 --> 01:04:17.519
So, and again, like if if you talk about social media or scrolling, that's why those things rob us of our dopaminergic, you know, systems, because you automatically get a hit without having to have done anything.
01:04:17.519 --> 01:04:26.559
So you're training your neurochemical system in an advantageous way to where it's like, okay, why am I not motivated now?
01:04:26.559 --> 01:04:32.639
Well, man, you can only get so much instant hits of dopamine until the dopaminergic system's out of order.
01:04:32.639 --> 01:04:33.920
And now you're like, what the hell?
01:04:33.920 --> 01:04:36.079
Why do I not, why do I not want anything?
01:04:36.079 --> 01:04:44.400
It's like, well, again, let's come back to our values and see what you actually value and see how to get you back in alignment with that to something that you're willing to put in the work long term.
01:04:44.400 --> 01:04:56.559
Because if somebody's if somebody's going for the number, then we need to assess the values deeper and go, okay, the the the number is a representation of the why, Jack.
01:04:56.559 --> 01:04:57.760
It's not the why.
01:04:57.760 --> 01:05:00.719
The money is a representation of the why.
01:05:00.719 --> 01:05:02.000
It's not the why.
01:05:02.000 --> 01:05:05.840
The boat is the representation of the thing, it's not the thing.
01:05:05.840 --> 01:05:21.679
So what we're what what I'm very good at doing, and what you're clearly very good at doing, is going underneath the surface, and it's the seven layers of the onion being peeled back times a thousand, right?
01:05:21.679 --> 01:05:26.880
So what's the core of the human motivating driving factors here?
01:05:26.880 --> 01:05:32.239
And again, if somebody's say they're in alignment with their values and they're still not doing it, okay.
01:05:32.239 --> 01:05:40.639
Well, there's a subconscious reason now that we need to go deep down inside into the subconscious mind and see what's really holding you back.
01:05:40.639 --> 01:05:48.639
Because man, it it'd blow your mind how how the brain and the mind actually works and how and how people sabotage themselves.
01:05:48.639 --> 01:05:58.559
Like for instance, in in business, let's say you're having a phenomenal month, but you just don't know how to break past $50,000 a month, right?
01:05:58.559 --> 01:06:06.880
You've ran the ads, you have the funnels, the VSLs, you got you got everything, but you can't crack over 50 consistently.
01:06:06.880 --> 01:06:15.840
Maybe, and this is purely hypothetical, but it does, but it but it does it makes sense and it could be true for somebody.
01:06:15.840 --> 01:06:50.800
If someone that you admire a family member, your mommy dad never made over a certain amount of money and you have hit that threshold that you're super proud of, but you've never seen them make that money and you respect them and you admire them, somewhere in your subconscious mind, there might be a reason not to go over fifty thousand dollars a month that has absolutely nothing to do with the business at all.
01:06:54.480 --> 01:06:58.800
So that being said, that's where the work comes into play, right?
01:06:58.960 --> 01:07:11.360
So you might unconsciously perceive that you making more money would be a jab to your family, a jab to your parents that that this would never consciously make sense, Jack.
01:07:11.360 --> 01:07:15.840
This doesn't make sense at a conscious level, but subconsciously that's how people sabotage themselves.
01:07:15.840 --> 01:07:30.880
Well that would be dishonorable to out-earn my parents nobody ever told you that nobody ever consciously said hey I don't want you to make more than that but there's a there's a a factor there that you're throttling yourself.
01:07:30.880 --> 01:07:43.280
It has nothing to do with the business and when you see the advantages consciously to your family of you making more money, ta human mind's a lovely funny thing.
01:07:43.679 --> 01:07:44.800
Oh and I love it.
01:07:44.800 --> 01:07:45.360
It's so good.
01:07:45.360 --> 01:07:53.039
I love what I do because I get to see all sides and experience everything he's saying with not just myself but other people as well.
01:07:54.960 --> 01:08:02.559
Well and when your clients are in alignment with their values then that that's going to make your job substantially easier.
01:08:02.559 --> 01:08:14.400
Because you're not going to have to prick and improd and motivate people they're going to be intrinsically inspired to wake up and do it and your job is is to coach and teach and keep them and keep them going you know?
01:08:14.719 --> 01:08:18.319
Yeah 100% and I always say that like I'm just here to guide you.
01:08:18.319 --> 01:08:19.920
I'm not here to do all that for you.
01:08:19.920 --> 01:08:28.960
You need to find that and that's that's the hard part and a lot of people aren't willing to put in the hard work but those that are work with me and they get great results and I'm sure it's the same with you.
01:08:29.520 --> 01:08:35.760
And that's the thing man is is I I want people to know you don't need fixed.
01:08:35.760 --> 01:08:37.439
You're not broken.
01:08:37.439 --> 01:09:07.279
You are simply operating out of a value system and you're operating out of an unconscious blueprint that is running the show and you will continue to do the same things that you've always done until you go into the subconscious mind, you dissolve the subconscious baggage and you're living intentionally moving towards your destiny versus being a master you can either be a victim of history or a master of destiny.
01:09:10.800 --> 01:09:20.960
100% and that's the thing like everybody's you know they think they're broken but everybody has that your experiences your the way you see things like that is your power.
01:09:20.960 --> 01:09:24.079
It's not your it's not the thing that's broken in you.
01:09:24.079 --> 01:09:26.800
It's the power that you have over everybody else.
01:09:26.800 --> 01:09:31.520
And yeah like you said when people start realizing that they can do amazing things.
01:09:32.159 --> 01:09:36.880
At a human level things appear to be missing at a soul level nothing is missing.
01:09:36.880 --> 01:09:38.159
And Dr.
01:09:38.159 --> 01:09:57.119
John likes to say there's nothing that your there's nothing that your mortal body can go through that your immortal soul can't learn to love that we'll see how we go for time but there's two more topics dive into I'm just trying to decide which one.
01:09:58.560 --> 01:10:16.239
You've spoken about trying to find mentors and finding the right mentors which is very hard and I think you know you gotta do a bit of work in that because if you take on the right wrong mentor, not saying they're the wrong like they're a bad person or there's anything wrong with them, but they just might be wrong for you.
01:10:16.239 --> 01:10:27.279
It's very hard but I think it's very important like using the gym for analogy like we're just talking about people can't really visualize them doing it until they see other people doing it.
01:10:27.279 --> 01:10:42.880
Like whether it's money, exercising I since moving to Melbourne here in Australi here in Australia, I've surrounded myself with people that are doing amazing things and earning a lot more money that I thought was impossible to make but I'm seeing it and I'm friends with them and being around them.
01:10:42.880 --> 01:10:45.359
So I'm like oh you can't actually make that much money.
01:10:45.359 --> 01:10:46.720
And it's the same for the gym.
01:10:46.720 --> 01:10:52.239
If you go to the gym and you've never done a push up before or you've never seen somebody do a push up you're going to think it's impossible.
01:10:52.239 --> 01:10:55.520
You go to the gym you see people doing push-ups you're like oh wow that is possible.
01:10:55.520 --> 01:11:03.039
Yeah so so finding that environment where people are doing what you want to do and getting the right mentors is very important.
01:11:03.039 --> 01:11:14.560
So can you just maybe just go back to your story and your experiences in finding those moments where you're like oh yeah this is where I need to be this is where I can learn and what you got from it.
01:11:14.960 --> 01:11:34.880
Yeah yeah oh my gosh thank you so much for asking that um man you you you don't you don't start at the top and that's P that's the biggest thing Jack I didn't I didn't start with seminars that were thousands of dollars to invest and I had to travel and stay in hotels and lock in for 12 hours.
01:11:34.880 --> 01:11:36.560
I I didn't start there.
01:11:36.560 --> 01:12:08.560
I started with books right the the the greatest some of the greatest mentors are hanging out in Barnes and Noble for $30 right so so that that's my that depending on where someone's at their their you know social connections their financial acuity all those different things um but I I networked my face off I knew that I was going to have to meet a thousand talkers to meet the one person that could actually teach me something of value.
01:12:08.560 --> 01:12:19.760
Everybody teaches you lessons throughout life that's not the point I'm trying to make the point I'm trying to make is you sometimes you have to sift you have to kiss some frogs to get to the one that you know can actually move the needle for you.
01:12:19.760 --> 01:12:49.840
And and I did my research I researched the hell out of people and and I had to number one going back to the to the uh Tony Robbins thing I didn't know what it was so the first thing that I had to do was find out what the hell it was called right that's the first thing that I had to do is this integrative hypnosis is this neurolinguistic programming is this emotive journeying is this cognitive behavioral thing what what what is it even called right like how how do I how do I get there?
01:12:49.840 --> 01:12:55.600
Because if I don't if I don't know where I'm at and I don't know where I want to go I'm never going to get there.
01:12:55.600 --> 01:13:20.159
So being dead honest with where I'm starting at today and then moving forward to where I actually want to go and why and then the universe will get out your way man like you if you I have a saying that God meets me halfway and I genuinely believe that if I put in my time my effort my work all of that I genuinely believe that God will meet me halfway and I have not been proven wrong yet.
01:13:20.159 --> 01:13:32.000
So in terms of mentorship in terms of all that start where you start where you're at go as far as you can see and when you get where you are you're gonna be able to see further guaranteed.
01:13:33.199 --> 01:13:35.039
What about like reaching out to those people?
01:13:35.039 --> 01:13:47.600
I had a young person approach me the other day and wanting to start some sort of film and I guess visual company but she just didn't know where to start in reaching out to people.
01:13:47.600 --> 01:13:57.840
What what advice have you got for you know the younger people like I I I think the best example is the book you said at start, like How to win friends and influence people.
01:13:57.840 --> 01:14:13.119
That's a great book to start how to learn how to actually just talk to people and it might be a bit of a cover that sort of turns people off but it's just about being a nice person and talking to people and seeing how you can help them and how they can help you but without forcing it?
01:14:13.119 --> 01:14:16.000
That's the best way I can explain it.
01:14:16.000 --> 01:14:29.199
Um so what what was the what was the question how should people yeah how should you think about networking and reaching out to people that you want to be your mentors or help you in some certain way to achieve what you want to achieve?
01:14:29.600 --> 01:14:37.600
When it comes to mentorship what value are you able to provide to them?
01:14:37.600 --> 01:14:38.319
Right?
01:14:38.319 --> 01:14:50.159
So man, especially for younger people I have found that that people are very very very willing to help but they also are being asked by a million and one people to be mentored.
01:14:50.159 --> 01:14:57.039
So the thing that I did right Jack is I got as far as I could possibly see on my own.
01:14:57.039 --> 01:15:05.279
I picked up the books I did the seminars I put my money where my where my I I did as much as humanly possible.
01:15:05.279 --> 01:15:22.239
So when I was going to seek mentorship it was not a handout this is hey I've done everything in my power to do every I I've gotten Corbin as far as I can get Corbin and I'm now at a point here and sometimes mentorship's gonna cost you money.
01:15:22.239 --> 01:16:07.279
Sometimes mentorships there there's all sorts of different things that you can do but I was okay with either doing fair trade fair equitable exchange or I was okay with figuring out how to pay the thousands of dollars it costs right so that like that that those are your two options is figure out figure out how to be valuable and then go go pitch that value something truly valuable to that person care enough about them to do research on their values their business their life their family and provide something that's actually valuable to them and you'll be very surprised people are actually very much open and willing to help those that have already helped themselves but nobody wants to help someone that just wants it to be done for them.
01:16:07.279 --> 01:16:09.439
That that nobody wants to help that person.
01:16:09.680 --> 01:16:15.279
So I think that's the best advice yeah 100% well it's what worked for me.
01:16:15.439 --> 01:16:28.399
Like you know and and man I I I was young and and was able to crack into some of the right rooms but like and be bold man don't be afraid to go for what you want because the absolute worst thing that can happen Jack is they say no.
01:16:28.640 --> 01:16:29.600
Yeah that's what I said.
01:16:29.600 --> 01:16:31.039
Like what's the worst that can happen?
01:16:31.279 --> 01:16:36.319
Right they told me no but the absolute best thing that could happen is you make a lifelong friend.
01:16:36.319 --> 01:16:46.079
You learn something you never knew you have your own values expanded you have your own mind expanded you get to do things you would have never gotten to do before and you get to grow as a person.
01:16:46.079 --> 01:16:53.760
And that's the biggest thing man is is that if if I was talking to somebody it's worth going up and saying hi.
01:16:53.760 --> 01:17:06.319
Go and and this is one of my tricks to networking too show up show up because you never know who you'll meet or what it'll turn into or what'll happen.
01:17:06.319 --> 01:17:24.640
But if you don't show up God does not have the space to move and you don't have anything to go do right like it's it's it's my job to take action on the plan and it's God's job to move the pieces of the chessboard in the way that needs to be moved for the right things to happen.
01:17:24.640 --> 01:17:33.279
So when the right people align the right things align the right opportunities align that's when luck happens and then all of a sudden you're a lucky person.
01:17:33.279 --> 01:17:58.399
Well I mean yeah I guess or you just came prepared you knew your shit and you showed up 2026 people don't show up anymore they they they don't show up for themselves they don't show up at work people people go through life on auto and it's like man you can freaking win at this thing easier now than ever and like you said just put in that hard work.
01:17:58.479 --> 01:18:10.880
Like if you put in that hard work and turn up and have a conversation with that person they're gonna want to have that conversation back because you know about them you know their interests you know what they want to talk about where if you just turn up and say hey how's it going?
01:18:10.880 --> 01:18:12.640
And like where do you go from there?
01:18:12.640 --> 01:18:21.119
Obviously if you do good conversation it you can make it roll but putting in the work and actually understanding what you need to be talking about, no one does that.
01:18:21.119 --> 01:18:24.560
And if you can do that you stand out way more than everybody else.
01:18:24.880 --> 01:18:38.000
Yes and and also too um and I know that we got to wrap up here soon but anything that you perceive that someone else has you have it too in your own form.
01:18:38.000 --> 01:18:42.560
And that's why intimidation goes away when you own when you own traits.
01:18:42.560 --> 01:18:45.680
There's over 4,000 traits in human behavior.
01:18:45.680 --> 01:18:55.119
Every single one of us has every single one of them we display and demonstrate them differently based off of our own values but if the trait wasn't beneficial it would go extinct.
01:18:55.119 --> 01:19:12.640
So those traits are there for a reason and they are brought to the surface when in accordance to your values but you know Jack I've never I've never perceived well I'm not gonna say never that's not accurate I don't perceive people as better than me or worse than me.
01:19:12.640 --> 01:19:24.399
They might be richer they might be poorer they might be more famous they might be less famous but at the end of the day they're a human being with a hierarchy of values and their life is demonstrating those values just like mine is.
01:19:24.399 --> 01:19:30.479
And so where do I have that same thing being demonstrated in my own form?
01:19:30.479 --> 01:19:30.880
Right?
01:19:30.880 --> 01:19:33.920
Because you might be intimidated by someone's knowledge.
01:19:33.920 --> 01:19:38.079
Man Jack has an incredible knowledge of health and fitness and life.
01:19:38.079 --> 01:19:50.720
Jack I guarantee you every single person in your audience has the same level of knowledge that you have and the same level experience that you have in their own form and their own values in their own life.
01:19:50.720 --> 01:19:54.079
Everybody's got a PhD in their own life story.
01:19:54.079 --> 01:20:05.520
So and so they're comparing their values to yours versus honoring the form that they're expressing it in and owning it and going, man, I sure know a lot about this particular topic.
01:20:05.520 --> 01:20:08.399
I sure know a lot about that particular thing.
01:20:08.399 --> 01:20:14.000
So we're just we're just biased and we're we're making someone else's form better or worse than ours.
01:20:14.000 --> 01:20:15.279
It's not better or worse.
01:20:15.279 --> 01:20:18.560
It's just a different expression of their own unique values.
01:20:19.119 --> 01:20:22.960
A hundred percent and you've got to go into each conversation like that.
01:20:22.960 --> 01:20:29.039
That's why I love like the podcast doing what I'm doing because I get to talk to and experience so many different people.
01:20:29.039 --> 01:20:42.720
And if you just go into that conversation and want to understand that person on a deeper level and what they know like you said everybody knows things about they you might have the same knowledge but how they view that knowledge is completely different as well.
01:20:42.880 --> 01:21:23.199
So absolutely yeah all right man thank you so much for a wonderful conversation um if you're if your audience has felt compelled by my story my journey or the the services that can be provided and they're ready for a break through to the next level they can visit let'sgethuman.com that's let's with a uh S at the end let's gethuman.com apply to work with me it's through the perceptual design pot spot on my website and make sure that you mention Jack that's very important that you mentioned that you came from Jack's show and um as long as I feel like we're in alignment and I can actually help help them move the needle then I would be delighted to to work with your audience.
