Speaker 1: Welcome to a Trap Nurse podcast side All right, welcome to another Trap Nurse side quest. We are joined here about Spex Thompson, creator of Legacy of the View comic book series. What's going on? What's use fix? Not much? Man? Just you know, no dollar? Yeah, man, glad to finally get you in here. Man, We've been talking a lot about your comic book and like everything going on with it and how you getting the starter? Like I love the artwork you got in the first of all, dude, Like I really liked the artwork and the depictions that you got on page bro looks really dope. How long How long have you been working on the comic book series? I want to say, since who has a night Team? I think that's when I did my first one. Really yeah yeah, So like I never got experience of the cars or anything like that, So it was it was straight up like just I put a book out. Then I just got a grind from the internet. So like Trap, guess I'm still weight behind the ears with the conventions and stuff like that. Believe me, we understand. I feel bad. We just hit our first one ship was Wild Speaks. Where you where do you get your inspiration for your art. Uh, well my artist, he's from Nigeria. He does the artwork. Um I draw as well, but you know I'm not as a as five kids and Puss I got two kids. I don't have nears enough time to even try. But like he does, uh wear some style of comics you know if you know that is. But from like when I first met him until now, he's been like tailor his style or from my book in general, his style to like a hybrid between like manga and like uh like Western comics. So it's a it's a good little blend. So it looked like American, but he got the speed lines and as certain moves and actions of a manga. So going into the storyline, so can you's flad the storyline like love to give us a little sneak peek on this side of like what you wrote there in the couple of book. Yeah. So so basically it's it's about a teenage um black teenage kid named Ash Johnson. He's an aspiring musical engineer and uh he has a power to create nothingness. You know. Um the drawback to his power, you know, he hasn't know how things worked, so like he can He can spawn a back you know, that's easy, simple, But he can't spawn a car because he hasn't know how that engine works and how the will and acts are working, all that good stuff. But he can make it appear where you probably won't go or probably blow up or something like that. But what makes him special he's a reluctant hero. He doesn't want to be a you know, a superhero. He just has a power. But he's the only one in his world that can kill the how who wants to take the human race over. He's as as a body body power supply, you know, for they you know, own the ferious and the needs and stuff like that. Some matrix type ship no on some like like some semio types they take type. Yeah, they take you folks over. So like you you chilling, but you're sitting in this coming work here. You got do just chilling in one of the how comes and like take them over. Now that that's his body and they can then they can like max out people's like pete potential. Uh so you couldn't like stay slightly. Yeah, so you could be like a little scrawny dude, you know, but like they're getting the hold you and then you could be super buff. You might end up being like the whole you know, dependon though what your peak is. Run up, did you have any I mean growing up like, uh, like my first thing, Um, I remember my commicooks. My sister's friend used to work at a comboy shop and she brought me these comments over. The one I remember the most is uh you Injustice? You know the o g one I had that. I had a little side story with Gambit and a bishop think like children the Adam or something like that. That was pretty dope. Uh in like Green Lantern and Uh, basically doing three combos really inspired me to make the view like how do you operate? You know? He started off with the staff when I was like, uh, when I first made him like high school like the mimic Gamut and he like a trench coach. Then like has powers like are similar like Green Lantern. He can just make things, you know, out of thought. Then just like the kid young kid heroes stuff like Young Justice. So it's a it's a good plaint in all three. So you know you're coming. What were the main I guess inspirations that that inspired you. I guess like story aren'ts like that just resonated with you, that made you, that made you know, inspired and kind of probably leaked into your work year for you. Uh, just elements of my own life, you know. You know, I was in the music industry, so I decided to make him musical engineer. Most people know about the rapper or the artists and the producer, but not many people know about the guy behind the scenes, you know, the engineer who actually of course a song and make it sounds good. You know, I play a lot of parts behind the scenes the music industry, doing marketing, different stuff like that. So I wanted to show people that that's that side of it, uh as well. Uh just you know, having a black teenager or a superhero. No, I got two daughters. You know, it wasn't read too many last superheroes I can show them and I was about so I chose to make them black and just make them from Georgia, you know the same thing, Like it's not that many Georgian superheroes like or anything that take place in compus in Georgia. So that's what my storyline got. Another subject, So you come from a world of like rap and music production. What's been the biggest difference for you with that scene change. Um, definitely a whole different culture. You know. It's like just thinking about the day, it's like Cobra Kai, like I'll come from this world, like you know, the rappers and and people play basketball's are cool, but in the common world, really the nerd rule rule, Like that's really how it is, and like it's crazy because it's basically on something like I support you, I support uh you support me, I support you type of thing, or uh, we we all buy this common goal here together and we support you. Like it's kind of like a community thing, but it's like it's different from anything else. Actually have fans so overcoming that trying to get my foot in, you know, in in the combat world, you know, and getting accepted by them so they can support me. And on top of that, the money, like this is a spencer of like actually getting money to pay my artists to make my book the quality y'all see and stuff like that. Because I could go achieve a route, but it still won't it won't benefit me, so I had to just do like music industry, you know, like you go get the best beat. I want to go get a good quality artist and make a project look good so I can compete with the DC to Marvel and stuff like that. Speaking of music, since you're in the music into the music industry and stuff like that, can you give us five of your top five round five of your favorite artists right now? Top five artists? What you mean? I j Um Blue, Dreaming Lean, where's the fucking go to me? Like? Like I was a three six Mafia fans and when he went so low, he's just holding the level. Then Uh, where's Khalifa? I like him? Uh? And then like you got you got to you know, tr Uh take it back? I say, Tupac the Weekend. Nice, Okay, that was a cur that one came My left field came left Field. Didn't see that would come. That's his first okays as a George Nigga. I feel like I need to ask the almighty question Gucci, Jeezy and man, what you're talking about? Like what you what? You what? Your straight music? Not the other ship. See in high school, you know, I bumped like Jeezy though, but being grown like Gucci, like Gucci hit different, like he's just he's a whole different level with the Gucci one did for me. Yeah, but see that new jeezy stuff. He's just I don't know, man, he just ever since he came to it's weird. Yeah, it's weird with with clone Gucci now, it just don't know. He got a couple you know, hits sitting there. But it's like the first day was lit. The whole album was straight. But but it ain't throwing bitches out to call Gucci because artists though helping him though the uh the new Tants, some teen and ship. Yeah. But then he was on a lot of hits too. Bro. He was on what's that song with with Race Trimmer, Oh black Beetles, right, yeah, with the Megs that was a hit, Like, yeah, he got hit, just just it ain't three got a k with me and you gotta stayed with me, you know, I'm playing with me. Niggers don't remember World one, three D and now this ship Yeah three CDs. Yeah, I'll just on the last night. And matter of fact, that's when I first heard you through Oh I'll take you onto the back, Like he had a song called Twitter song that was hot. That's how I heard about Yeah. It was like that's he just sounded just like uh like you. He sugned just like little Wayne on that first next tape that was the beginning. We all saw how that went. So what about let's get into anime because you're an anime watcher, right, what's your top five animal? That's I agree that bleached that's a good one. I'll listen. I listen to your show. But a common guy killed sleep on the comic Kid it's all right, I don't know, but it's my top five. I mean, there's a lot of boobes in that one. Dragon Ball. I gotta have a top the original dragon Ball now just in general, Okay, okay, the whole story favorite just some legacy. It got to be in their side. But what's wrong on Comedy got killed though? Like, what's wrong with that? That's just no, it's just two out there for me, it's just too much for me. It's just it's just just too much for me. Yeah, you mean, Tony, it's just too much for me. I just I can't deal with it. Yeah, saying not too much, too much more one more speaks, you need one more? Oh, Attack, I just got into Attack on Titan. That is a really good anime. Yeah, it's good anime. Feen every week for Attack on Tonight, Right, yeah it's tomorrow. Yeah, all right. You from Georgia, so you're a good old Southern but like Ristmus, give us you give us your your go to soul food meal that you love for your grandmother, your mother somebody. Oh well, I can eat um sides. Man. I like some babe beans, uh, some corn breads and lama beans. You know, I say, man, a fried porch shot. I want to turn down a fried porch shop. We do eat pork chops pretty pretty on the daily around and I got some either like fried pork shop or or some brills your dry up or barbecue South to Commo barbecuelbec Okay, okay, all right, we've come to an end to a great interview with Specs Thompson. Um, let's just just plug a little bit one more time, plug your coming booking plug where everybody can find you, and plug your socials, socials and everything Kickstarter woman first first for you do that. All right? So I'm on my kick starting for my fourth issue of Legacy the View, as well as my spin off series Boots. This is a manga.
