00:00:29.359 --> 00:00:30.160
Hi, Dr.
00:00:30.399 --> 00:00:31.039
Marcy.
00:00:31.359 --> 00:00:31.920
Hi, Dr.
00:00:32.000 --> 00:00:32.399
Jody.
00:00:32.560 --> 00:00:33.359
How are you today?
00:00:33.600 --> 00:00:34.079
I'm good.
00:00:34.240 --> 00:00:36.000
I'm so excited to be doing this with you.
00:00:36.240 --> 00:00:36.799
Let's do it.
00:00:36.880 --> 00:00:39.039
Yeah, let's turn up the notch.
00:00:39.439 --> 00:00:47.439
So a few years back when staffless practice was growing, we had this amazing client, and her name was Dr.
00:00:47.600 --> 00:00:48.240
Marcy.
00:00:48.479 --> 00:00:50.880
And she was a mogul, to say the least.
00:00:51.119 --> 00:00:55.600
And she would also became someone who I just liked.
00:00:55.759 --> 00:00:58.880
We just had a really nice rapport and banter.
00:00:59.280 --> 00:01:06.719
And um when she came to the point in the program where she was like good, she was like kind of floating along.
00:01:06.799 --> 00:01:11.920
And she I said to her, hey, what would you think about coaching on our team?
00:01:12.159 --> 00:01:18.640
Like being because she's so successful with her creative ways in practice.
00:01:18.879 --> 00:01:23.120
Um, and she immediately said, Yeah, let's definitely let's explore that.
00:01:23.359 --> 00:01:25.599
And here we are a few years later.
00:01:25.920 --> 00:01:27.920
And um, Dr.
00:01:28.159 --> 00:01:29.920
Marcy, please just introduce yourself.
00:01:30.000 --> 00:01:31.040
Where are you?
00:01:31.200 --> 00:01:32.879
Uh, what do you do?
00:01:32.959 --> 00:01:35.920
Uh, what's your role on the staffless practice team?
00:01:36.000 --> 00:01:37.280
Give us the lowdown.
00:01:37.599 --> 00:01:38.959
Well, first off, thank you, Dr.
00:01:39.040 --> 00:01:39.359
Jodi.
00:01:39.599 --> 00:01:42.079
You're making me blush with all those lovely compliments.
00:01:42.239 --> 00:01:48.400
And I'm really, really honored to be part of the staffless uh team here as one of the accountability coaches.
00:01:48.480 --> 00:01:52.640
Um, I am a chiropractor, like many of you that are watching and listening today.
00:01:52.799 --> 00:02:04.799
Um, I started just me, myself, and I, and I built my practice to um two physical locations and four satellite locations, and so um you can do it too.
00:02:04.959 --> 00:02:09.680
It just takes some time and uh patience and commitment and perseverance.
00:02:09.840 --> 00:02:12.080
I think patience.
00:02:12.240 --> 00:02:14.719
Yeah, and yeah, and patience.
00:02:14.800 --> 00:02:23.840
And it takes time, it takes effort, and uh, you know, we have some amazing support here to help you get down the road.
00:02:24.000 --> 00:02:38.560
And I mean, I came to staffless practice well into my career, and there were still things that I was still learning, um, and I could do better um as being part of the staffless team now, but even as a client uh some three years ago.
00:02:38.719 --> 00:02:41.520
So definitely some some everyone can learn.
00:02:41.680 --> 00:02:57.439
Doesn't matter what stage in your career you are at, uh, whether you're brand new, we have something to offer you to build a successful uh systematic approach to your practice that can be really seamless and as we as our name states, staffless if you so choose.
00:02:57.599 --> 00:03:09.120
Or you can have, like myself, uh multidisciplinary, uh multiple location uh clinics that uh we can help you amplify where you're at and where you want to go.
00:03:09.439 --> 00:03:10.479
Yeah, you know, Dr.
00:03:10.639 --> 00:03:14.560
Marcia is one of the clients who I've actually worked with her team.
00:03:14.800 --> 00:03:26.159
At one point, we had a study pod going where we were meeting with her team every week, doing a deep dive on each person's accountability piece on the team.
00:03:26.479 --> 00:03:31.120
And a lot of people assume that staffless practice means no staff.
00:03:31.360 --> 00:03:45.919
And I'm constantly course correcting staffless practice is actually less staff showing up to do what isn't their best lean or in their with their with the great greatest joy and appreciation for what their talent is.
00:03:46.159 --> 00:03:58.159
So can you speak a little bit to how success shows up on it for your team in practice, uh, as far as practice growth, as far as uh practice systems?
00:03:58.400 --> 00:04:02.319
How do you keep things successful on your side of the computer?
00:04:02.960 --> 00:04:10.080
Well, I think I mean think there's an evolution uh to each and every single person who is part of a team.
00:04:10.319 --> 00:04:33.920
They may come and start as one role, a chiropractor or a physiotherapist, and then you realize that they have other talents that you didn't even realize, whether they're an incredible writer and they could do your blog writing, or that they do research in the background, or are doing um teaching at the local colleges.
00:04:34.079 --> 00:04:38.319
These people are filled with a massive amount of information and talent.
00:04:38.560 --> 00:04:55.120
Even on the front desk, somebody who you maybe hired as a receptionist, all of a sudden you realize, oh my goodness, you have a skill set in Excel and um analytics and Canva, all these things can be a huge advantage.
00:04:55.279 --> 00:05:08.160
And I think it that's where, like the word I used earlier is the evolution of every person and really kind of allowing people to express what their talents are, giving them the bandwidth to do it.
00:05:08.240 --> 00:05:10.959
That was something I had to learn a little bit.
00:05:11.120 --> 00:05:16.560
That was hard to let go of the reins and allow people to do good work.
00:05:16.800 --> 00:05:18.639
So that's something I would pass on.
00:05:19.120 --> 00:05:24.879
So can you talk to the solo practice owner who doesn't have staff?
00:05:25.120 --> 00:05:27.040
How do they wear all of the hats?
00:05:27.279 --> 00:05:28.720
Can you speak to that?
00:05:30.079 --> 00:05:45.279
Um, yeah, I I mean I think since you were you know, we're talking 20 plus years in practice, so but I I think back to the very beginning, and I was I was doing everything.
00:05:45.600 --> 00:05:53.680
And maybe to the detriment, uh not maybe, without a doubt, to the detriment of my practice at the time.
00:05:53.839 --> 00:06:01.519
And then I came to realize that this the amount of money that I need to invest is I had to change my thinking.
00:06:01.680 --> 00:06:20.480
It wasn't about spending, it was about investing in people um who are better at things than myself, an accountant, for an example, a bookkeeper, um, and somebody at the front desk to actually receive and accept the exchange of finances.
00:06:20.879 --> 00:06:42.480
I think that is a huge thing, whether it be somebody virtual, whether it be somebody sitting in a conventional desk, um, you know, allowing people to do that work for you, especially if your your joy and your um purpose is really to be a physiotherapist, a chiropractor, a dentist, an optometer.
00:06:42.800 --> 00:06:45.279
How do you know when you're at that point, Marcy?
00:06:45.439 --> 00:06:50.879
Like, how do you, you know, I'm making a big decision right now about a role on our team.
00:06:51.040 --> 00:07:02.319
Like, I could not do it and probably stay stagnant, where I could lean in, invest a lot of money, a lot of time, and a lot of trust.
00:07:02.560 --> 00:07:08.160
How do you know when it's the right time to branch out and bring somebody else onto your team?
00:07:08.639 --> 00:07:22.879
I think the time is when you can be yourself earning um a higher per hour um amount than allowing someone else to do that.
00:07:22.959 --> 00:07:32.959
And if it's wasting your time or if you're spinning your wheels in doing something that you don't like to do, you try to do it and you don't like it and you're not good at it.
00:07:33.120 --> 00:07:39.759
I think it's also coming to you know, the idea that you don't like doing that, you're not good at it.
00:07:39.839 --> 00:07:44.399
That's okay to recognize that and say they're better at that than me.
00:07:46.879 --> 00:07:54.639
We'll often have conversations and you'll be like, Yeah, I'm interviewing for another associate today and maybe three other front desk people.
00:07:54.800 --> 00:08:04.240
And you're so um, you're so on track when it comes to what you need to invest in the practice to get back from it.
00:08:04.399 --> 00:08:13.040
Can you speak a little bit about what you do with our clients as far as stats are concerned, marketing plan planning is concerned?
00:08:13.279 --> 00:08:19.519
Yeah, stats have been something for me very early on in my practice that were critical.
00:08:19.839 --> 00:08:21.040
That's the best word I could use.
00:08:21.120 --> 00:08:52.080
And that's that's why things like um using if you're using a software program, that you can get the stats necessary so that even if you can't, keeping track yourself, and that that at the beginning, I literally was using a Excel spreadsheet, a Google Doc or a Google Sheet, and counting the number of new patients, the number of patient visits, the pre-books, the the dollars per hour, because you can't make decisions unless you know what your numbers are, right?
00:08:52.320 --> 00:08:54.320
Whether you're going to bring on a new associate.
00:08:54.480 --> 00:08:57.600
Have you personally reached your capacity?
00:08:57.759 --> 00:09:11.600
If you only choose to work X number of hours in a week, and you know that you physically can only see four, six, eight, twelve, whatever patients in an hour have you reached an 80% capacity or greater?
00:09:11.840 --> 00:09:18.320
You can't see there's just enough, not enough time in a day for you to see more people and lets you add more time.
00:09:18.480 --> 00:09:29.440
That's when the new associate, but you mentioned about like constantly recruiting Jody, and I'm not always hiring, I'm always looking for great talent, right?
00:09:29.919 --> 00:09:32.080
Is there ever a time that you're not?
00:09:32.480 --> 00:09:44.080
No, never because the you guys you see how that's like a it's a it's an understanding or a way of being in business, you're constantly looking.
00:09:44.320 --> 00:09:46.559
It's I'll use an example, Jody, though.
00:09:46.960 --> 00:09:53.120
My one I have one associate who is wonderful and has been incredible.
00:09:53.440 --> 00:10:01.759
And God, I'm so gracious and grateful that she came into my life, but I was not looking for an associate at that moment.
00:10:02.000 --> 00:10:10.080
Her resume, her personality were just so in line with who I was that I was like, I can't pass up on this candidate.
00:10:10.639 --> 00:10:17.679
Um, and so here we are 15 years later, and we've been, you know, colleagues for 15 years.
00:10:17.840 --> 00:10:22.639
Uh that's why together and she's incredible.
00:10:22.879 --> 00:10:37.679
I love the, you know, I don't think it's very common in our profession as chiropractors to have such a business-oriented mindset on running the business of the practice.
00:10:37.919 --> 00:10:39.200
Where did that come from?
00:10:39.360 --> 00:10:40.559
How did you learn that?
00:10:40.799 --> 00:10:43.679

00:11:08.000 --> 00:11:10.000
Now back to the show.
00:11:10.720 --> 00:11:19.279
You know, Jody, I don't think I really, I think I've been just innately gifted as an entrepreneur from a very young age.
00:11:19.440 --> 00:11:36.240
And and um yeah, I just took my my science and blended my, I guess, my innate talent of business into what I passionately love to do uh when it comes to chiropractic, you know, healing the body from above down inside out.
00:11:36.399 --> 00:11:47.039
I just, you know, it's always something for me that was like, I just knew like this is an incredible thing that we have, but how do I also take that business and blend it together?
00:11:47.200 --> 00:11:49.039
It's just naturally sort of happened.
00:11:49.120 --> 00:11:54.399
There was no, I don't have an MBA, you know, uh it just came naturally.
00:11:54.559 --> 00:12:02.000
And I've don't get me wrong, I've had some fall on my face moments and some hurdles to overcome.
00:12:02.240 --> 00:12:06.000
And that is where most of my learning has happened.
00:12:06.240 --> 00:12:23.200
That's where structure and policies and maybe some of the things that I can share with our our um our clients about what I have learned over the many years of you know building a practice or multiple practices.
00:12:23.600 --> 00:12:25.120
What is a good location?
00:12:25.200 --> 00:12:26.320
What is good space?
00:12:26.480 --> 00:12:30.639
What is how to hire, how to fire, all those things.
00:12:30.879 --> 00:12:32.000
It's so important.
00:12:32.639 --> 00:12:42.720
Um last summer, Marcy and I spent a couple days together taking big sheets of paper and just writing all the ideas on the wall.
00:12:42.879 --> 00:12:47.200
And what is something, what does something like that do for you?
00:12:47.360 --> 00:13:05.120
Like to do a deep dive on the business because part of what Marcy does on our team is she works with our clients to explore ideas in marketing, to put together marketing plans and then to hold our clients accountable for seeing it come to life.
00:13:05.360 --> 00:13:12.080
What does it do to have, what does it do for you to have that brainstorming, to have that accountability?
00:13:12.240 --> 00:13:14.320
How does it support your practice?
00:13:14.799 --> 00:13:21.120
I think this is a great question, and it is a great time of year to be asking that question.
00:13:21.360 --> 00:13:30.480
We're coming off of the summer months, we're refreshed, we're renewed, we don't feel exhausted from day-to-day operations, and we feel inspired.
00:13:30.559 --> 00:13:43.200
And there is that moment in a lot of our practices and styles where it's that transition and return to school, and there's a pause for a very short time in our upcoming um statistics.
00:13:43.360 --> 00:13:47.200
And this is the moment that I love to brainstorm the most.
00:13:47.360 --> 00:13:50.159
It's even better than new year, if you ask me.
00:13:50.399 --> 00:13:56.000
September or end of August, early September are the best time of years for planning.
00:13:56.240 --> 00:14:04.799
Because let's face it, we're gonna hit the ground running come end of September to the end of the year, and we're not gonna have time to think about it.
00:14:04.879 --> 00:14:11.679
So this is a great time to start planning and to have to have it written.
00:14:11.840 --> 00:14:15.039
You know, someone once said to me, if it's not written, it's not true.
00:14:15.360 --> 00:14:16.000
Right.
00:14:16.559 --> 00:14:24.720
And I really think that that's true, whether it's in communication with others, whether it's in your own marketing strategy, to have it written down.
00:14:25.120 --> 00:14:34.399
There is more likely opportunity for it to be successful as well, versus just an idea or a thought in your head about something.
00:14:34.559 --> 00:14:36.159
I want to do this, I want to do that.
00:14:36.320 --> 00:14:39.759
No, this is what I'm gonna do, this is how I'm going to do it.
00:14:40.000 --> 00:14:42.720
Um, yeah, clarity.
00:14:43.200 --> 00:14:44.000
Clarity.
00:14:44.240 --> 00:14:53.039
And we we just had our level 10 meeting and talked about rocks, and we're implementing the EOS system for staffless practice.
00:14:53.200 --> 00:14:54.480
It's so complicated.
00:14:54.720 --> 00:14:58.480
It's so it's it is, but it's not.
00:14:58.639 --> 00:15:07.840
It's like it can be it can be as simple as a rock, but it's also like, how do I choose like the one thing I want to focus on over the next?
00:15:08.080 --> 00:15:16.559
So can you talk a little bit about how we organize our RISE program, how we organize practice growth, the different components?
00:15:17.039 --> 00:15:17.360
Yeah.
00:15:17.440 --> 00:15:21.519
So in our RISE program, it's three simple components stats.
00:15:21.679 --> 00:15:30.080
And from our stats, we then build on our marketing plan, which includes your inside and outside habits and celebrations.
00:15:30.240 --> 00:15:56.080
And then from there, you know, we help you build all of the clarity on all those other small nuances and help you kind of and make you accountable, but also help you kind of flesh out your from your own brain what is meaningful to you at this particular time in practice, because every practice is unique uh and sees different types of people.
00:15:56.159 --> 00:16:08.480
And we want it to be authentic to your practice when we help you, whether it's in our glitter program or if you're doing your own, you know, marketing, uh, you know, it should be really authentic.
00:16:08.559 --> 00:16:12.879
It shouldn't feel like it's just pasted photos, right?
00:16:13.679 --> 00:16:19.120
You know, but again, systematically, blogs are easy to get done.
00:16:19.279 --> 00:16:23.600
Uh newsletters are able to be created in a systematic fashion.
00:16:23.679 --> 00:16:31.360
Again, with the support of Staffless Practice and our Glitter program, um, there are so many things that are just so easy.
00:16:31.519 --> 00:16:37.919
We just need your we need your thoughts or the the practitioner's thoughts or the the lead docs ideas about things.
00:16:38.480 --> 00:16:42.720
What do you want specifically for your practice and how do we make that happen?
00:16:42.879 --> 00:16:51.919
And I think that we're constantly we're constantly pivoting on what's needed because things are changing so fast.
00:16:52.240 --> 00:17:10.400
We I went and met with our coaches, um, my coaches, and the the head of the community was up on stage and said, raise your hand if this time last year you were offering an AI-based solution for your clients.
00:17:10.559 --> 00:17:14.720
And maybe three people out of 500 people raised their hand.
00:17:14.799 --> 00:17:21.200
And he said, Raise your hand if you're offering an AI-based solution today.
00:17:21.519 --> 00:17:23.599
Everybody in the room's hand went up.
00:17:23.759 --> 00:17:29.599
So we things are changing in private practice as fast as we're talking about it.
00:17:29.839 --> 00:17:41.200
And I feel like we've got a really good pulse of what's happening and what our clients need, and we're able to hold the flexibility to constantly be pivoting.
00:17:41.359 --> 00:17:42.000
So, Dr.
00:17:42.160 --> 00:17:52.880
Marcy, thank you for being the person who sits on the seat on our team to help carry the torch forward for practice growth expansion stats.
00:17:53.039 --> 00:17:56.160
Is there anything else you want to say to our community members?
00:17:56.480 --> 00:18:02.960
No, I just would love to have a conversation with anyone who wants some inspiration or needs some direction.
00:18:03.200 --> 00:18:06.559
Um, that, you know, the sky's the limit, right?
00:18:06.960 --> 00:18:12.960
Whether you're new or you're in succession planning, um, you know, we're here to support you.
00:18:13.119 --> 00:18:15.359
I can give you some guidance.
00:18:15.599 --> 00:18:18.240
Um, but yeah, I would love to meet any of them.
00:18:18.559 --> 00:18:19.119
