ABOUT THIS EPISODE
Rob O'Donnell wonders why the Lackawanna County CTC is even looking at closing its Practical Nursing Program when we are looking at a shortage of tens of thousands of nurses? He brings in instructors Bri and Lucia to discuss the matter.
The proposed closure would stop new admissions-including 40 students already accepted for December-and close the program after currently enrolled students finish, with graduation anticipated in June 2027. Incoming students have already invested in required clearances, physicals, blood work, and vaccinations. They are now facing the possibility of losing their place in the program just weeks before they expected to begin.
The nursing program director and faculty allegedly learned of the meetings concerning this proposal only around 3 p.m. on October 26 for a decision being made today at 7pm. There is a meeting tonight that affects the medical care of the region that should be attended by as many as possible.
