00:00:00
Speaker 1: This is the Almost Famous Podcast with iHeartRadio. Hi, everybody.
00:00:05
Speaker 2: This is Trista and Deanna. We are here for the most dramatic dance floor ever recap of Dancing with the Stars last night. And I am still hooked.
00:00:16
Speaker 1: What about you? I am.
00:00:20
Speaker 3: What?
00:00:21
Speaker 1: Oh, I'm like, wait. I'm like, no, you're not. I know. Let me give you my quick synopsis. Yeah. This is crazy.
00:00:29
Speaker 3: Typically, as a viewer, this is where I kind of start to fall off shows by like episode three or four because I get a little bored. Now, I will say that the dancing is better and I was really glad to see some higher scores.
00:00:41
Speaker 1: Trista, I was like, finally, okay, give these people what they deserve.
00:00:44
Speaker 3: Yeah.
00:00:45
Speaker 1: But I also just realized how much I am not.
00:00:50
Speaker 3: a judge on Dancing with the Stars because every time I thought that someone.
00:00:54
Speaker 1: Did terrible, they were like, you were amazing. And I was like, clearly I have no idea what I'm doing.
00:00:58
Speaker 3: So it's a good thing I sit on this side of the camera and not on that side because clearly I am lost.
00:01:04
Speaker 1: I'm lost. Yeah. No.
00:01:06
Speaker 2: That takes years and years and years and years of dance experience. So We're not going to consider ourselves judges. We're just going to watch for the fun of it, you know? Absolutely.
00:01:17
Speaker 1: I love it. I love it. And I love that we get to see each other every morning after. Me too.
00:01:23
Speaker 2: Me too.
00:01:23
Speaker 3: You know what is so funny is I can pick out really great dancing. Like, that's easy to see. It's the ones who I think are, like, treading water. And I know we'll get there. But some, you know, Tyler's dancing, you know, some of the other dancers where I'm kind of like, ah.
00:01:38
Speaker 2: Guillermo.
00:01:39
Speaker 1: You know, I'm like, I don't know. I don't know. But I can pick out really good dancing. Right.
00:01:43
Speaker 2: Of course.
00:01:44
Speaker 1: And it's not necessarily all about the dancing either.
00:01:46
Speaker 2: Yes, it's dancing with the stars, but I feel like it's also getting to know the stars and seeing how they can challenge themselves and that they're all like us, that we can relate to them because if they have a challenge like this, like how do they deal with it?
00:02:04
Speaker 1: And how do they deal with.
00:02:06
Speaker 2: Dancing intimately with someone that they just met, you know, and like that kind of stuff. Like I love also watching the development of their story as well. Not just, not just the dancing, even though I love the dancing. So this week it was Yacht Rock, which I love. But they did a Yacht Rock week. Like, how cute is that?
00:02:29
Speaker 1: Have you ever seen a Yacht Rock band?
00:02:31
Speaker 3: Like in person?
00:02:32
Speaker 1: I have not. No. It's so fun.
00:02:33
Speaker 2: Have you?
00:02:34
Speaker 1: It's so fun. Oh my gosh.
00:02:35
Speaker 3: I love live music. I do not enjoy to go to concerts, but I really love live music. You don't like concerts?
00:02:41
Speaker 1: I know, I don't.
00:02:42
Speaker 3: And I'm really thankful the kids are not like, oh my God, Bob, let's go see Sabrina Carpenter. It's like my worst nightmare to go to a packed stadium and watch a concert.
00:02:50
Speaker 1: But wait, wait, who's your favorite artist? I can't. Like all the time.
00:02:55
Speaker 3: I am really terrible at favorites. I can't pick a favorite food. I can't pick a favorite song.
00:02:59
Speaker 1: But there is this song that I'm really into.
00:03:02
Speaker 2: No, no, it's not about songs. It's about the person. So I just went to Garth Brooks. Do you like Garth Brooks?
00:03:10
Speaker 1: Trista. I am from Georgia. I literally was just going to say that. Okay.
00:03:15
Speaker 2: So I just went to his concert in Denver and it was the best concert I'd ever been to because he's so invested in his people. He's so freaking talented and you know all the songs. You would like a concert like that.
00:03:30
Speaker 1: Yeah. It's not that I don't like it.
00:03:32
Speaker 3: I think it's the You know, when you get into that big venue, I get into a lot of anxiety, like all the people, how am I going to get out?
00:03:38
Speaker 1: What's the escape route? You know what I mean? And I'm not spending, you know, a lot of money.
00:03:45
Speaker 3: I am very careful what I spend thousands of dollars on. And to sit front row, which is what I would actually enjoy, that's.
00:03:53
Speaker 1: Where I would like to be.
00:03:54
Speaker 3: But I'm only paying for the $ 300 tickets, which are in the nosebleed section.
00:03:58
Speaker 1: And I don't want to do that. I don't want to do that. I get it. And I'm spoiled. I'm spoiled.
00:04:03
Speaker 3: Right.
00:04:04
Speaker 1: We are spoiled, especially being with iHeart, I feel like.
00:04:07
Speaker 3: But the yacht rock bands are so fun. I would much prefer like dive bars or like when I'm traveling with my pilots, a lot of times we'll just like pop into a bar and listen to live music.
00:04:20
Speaker 1: Now that's my jam. Totally. That I love. I love it. You need to go move to Nashville. Not that you're going to... I lived there for five years. I did live there for five years. I lived the best five years of my life. Yes. So good. All right.
00:04:35
Speaker 2: So we have Yacht Rock, and they made a brand new record last week.
00:04:41
Speaker 1: This is huge.
00:04:43
Speaker 2: These are huge numbers for television today. I think one of the stars said... Actually, it was Tyler. He said it was the the best television show in America. And I was like, that's amazing. Like Julian was like, Oh, um, but I think with their numbers, they're, they're kicking butt this year, which is really cool.
00:05:04
Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah. Um, okay.
00:05:06
Speaker 2: So we started off the, well, actually I have to start not even getting into the dancers yet, but we had some familiar faces, um, especially in Bachelor Nation, in the ballroom, including Hannah Brown, who, ah, she just looks so gorgeous, as per usual. And Rachel, and I've already always said her name wrong, Kirkconnell or Kirkconnell?
00:05:29
Speaker 1: I think it's Kirkconnell. Okay, thank you. Kirkconnell.
00:05:32
Speaker 2: And she's from Matt James' season, of course. She looks stunning. She's beautiful.
00:05:36
Speaker 3: Stunning.
00:05:39
Speaker 2: And I love that she did a little shout-out on the Dancing with the Stars Instagram page with, Tyler's fiance and she was like I'm his BFF and I was like that's really cute.
00:05:49
Speaker 3: I think that's what they both got the best end of that breakup from Matt James as they got each other their friendship together like that's pretty.
00:05:56
Speaker 2: Cool totally yeah love that love seeing that says a lot too so we yeah Uh-huh. We don't need to go there because I'm sure we would talk forever about it. Okay. So we started off the show with Amber, Glenn, and Pasha. And as I've said in past episodes for this podcast, there are people on the internet who are like, she's going to win. She's the figure skater. She's got the skills, the talent. She can dance. She's got musicality, all of those things. And up till last night, I wasn't really sold. Like, yes, I felt like she had everything as the foundation and maybe we would see it at some point.
00:06:41
Speaker 1: Last night, she showed it to us in spades. Like she came out Amazing.
00:06:49
Speaker 2: I was blown away by this performance. Her feet looked gorgeous. Like I've told you, like pointed, like I feel like with figure skaters or skaters, they're used to their feet being flat and not having to worry about their feet. I felt like she was very intentional about her foot placement and her foot, um, movement and she was gorgeous. We do have to point out that as Heather pointed out to us last night in our group text, the singer didn't start singing this song until like eight counts late. And for someone who's competing, I mean, obviously she's competed with music prior, you know, in her career. So she's used to music. But gosh, you throw in, you're on a live show. You have all these eyeballs looking at you. You only have like two minutes to do your dance. And I'm sure she's nervous, even though she didn't look nervous. And the song, it doesn't sound like how you have rehearsed it for the entire past week.
00:07:56
Speaker 1: It would have thrown me off. Completely.
00:07:59
Speaker 2: And it didn't throw them off at all. Like when Heather pointed that out, I was like, I did not notice at all because they didn't, they didn't allow us to notice. They weren't worried about it, so I wasn't worried about it. She blew me away last night.
00:08:16
Speaker 1: Yeah. You know what?
00:08:16
Speaker 3: Last night was the first night that I thought she did not look like an ice skater.
00:08:20
Speaker 1: Exactly.
00:08:21
Speaker 3: The dancing is phenomenal. I think that that is like, she is a pro. She is so good.
00:08:27
Speaker 1: I'm not getting that attachment to her. And Whatever. These people become my friends in my own mind, Trista.
00:08:33
Speaker 3: I get very attached to people on shows that I get invested in.
00:08:38
Speaker 1: And I don't feel an attachment to her. You know what I mean?
00:08:43
Speaker 3: And maybe it's because I have some nostalgia with some of the other people who are on the show. They have a great connection, her and her pro. And the dancing is phenomenal. I'm not getting that connection as a viewer in the audience. Yeah.
00:08:57
Speaker 2: I feel like it's coming. I feel like we'll get there. Um, but I do, I do hear that. And I wasn't feeling that either. I also have that with another pro that I'll talk about later, but, um, I will say she got the first eights of the season.
00:09:11
Speaker 1: She got all eights.
00:09:12
Speaker 2: I think she was the high score last night. Um, and I thought she deserved it. The choreography was beautiful. Their connection was beautiful. I loved this routine.
00:09:23
Speaker 1: I loved it too.
00:09:24
Speaker 3: And you heard Derek Hough. He was like, the ice queen does it again. Like I love, now we're just getting, we're getting more of the show.
00:09:31
Speaker 1: Like that I will give to you. I like that.
00:09:34
Speaker 3: We're getting more personality and more time from the judges. The dancers, we're seeing more. I love that we're getting better scores. I love that because there were some dances from episode one and two that I just thought they needed better scores. So I'm just happy to see more of like, I guess a competition.
00:09:49
Speaker 1: Yeah. I thought, I It was just beautiful.
00:09:53
Speaker 2: And I feel like also what I love to see is people taking the notes of the judges and actually work on the things that they're telling them to work on. And I felt like you could tell that she's growing.
00:10:06
Speaker 1: She's listening. She's growing. And I love the progression of a dancer on this show. She's phenomenal. Phenomenal.
00:10:12
Speaker 3: She got a 24 out of 30, and she was great, great, great. So someone that I am... emotionally connected to was our next group.
00:10:23
Speaker 1: And that was Julia Stiles and Ezra. I just like, I can't help it.
00:10:28
Speaker 3: I want her to go so far because I just have that connection from like the 2000s, like watching her on the big screen. And I, what I love, what I am loving about this show is that we are getting to see the people that we watch as actors and actresses. We get to, we get to see them in a different light. And I love that Julia Stiles pointed that out that like, Yeah.
00:10:50
Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah.
00:11:09
Speaker 2: So I actually have a very different opinion of her dance. I didn't watch like her movies. I don't know that I've ever seen.
00:11:19
Speaker 3: What?
00:11:19
Speaker 1: We have to have a sleepover. We have to have a sleepover.
00:11:23
Speaker 3: When she's in that dance movie and she's all like, she's so like white, but she's like trying to be thug and she's not.
00:11:29
Speaker 1: Like it's, I love it. Yeah, I haven't seen it. Trista, I'm like so shocked right now.
00:11:36
Speaker 2: So I'm really bad at watching like really popular movies when they first come out. And then I watch them like centuries later, or not centuries.
00:11:45
Speaker 1: Decades later. You are not from the 1930s, Trista. I feel like I am. Stop it.
00:11:55
Speaker 3: You are young and beautiful and like a spry chicken.
00:11:58
Speaker 1: Yeah. Thank you.
00:12:00
Speaker 2: So I'm not as connected to her.
00:12:03
Speaker 1: Okay. Right.
00:12:05
Speaker 2: And, and for me, it's more about the connection with Ezra, which she has so much of, they have a beautiful connection and I love Ezra. From the dancing perspective, I just felt like last night it was very rushed. I felt like there was so much pushed into the routine that she was like kind of getting messed up thinking about all the moves. Like it wasn't smooth. It was not my favorite dance. It just didn't shine for me because I felt like I could feel her in her head.
00:12:41
Speaker 1: You know what I mean? Wow, that's so interesting because... here we are, right? We've watched the same show, but we have two polar opposite. Totally.
00:12:49
Speaker 3: So like for me, because I see, and I knew her from when I, you know, from shows when I was younger and I see the connection between her and Ezra, like that sells for me.
00:12:58
Speaker 1: I'm like, oh yeah, I could get on board with her. I'm team Julia. You know what I mean? Yeah.
00:13:03
Speaker 2: Yeah. No, I, well, yeah, I, it wasn't my favorite and actually she got Two sixes and one seven. So she got her first seven. So she was excited about that. But you remember in the very beginning when we first started this podcast, I said, I feel like sometimes they give certain people certain scores because they want to keep them around longer.
00:13:24
Speaker 1: I don't know.
00:13:25
Speaker 2: This is just my opinion. I don't know that this is truthful. And I don't know legally if they're allowed to even do that. But I feel like the judges want her on longer or the powers that be want her on longer because of her popularity. So they're giving her a little bone. Like, here you go.
00:13:46
Speaker 1: It wasn't the best dance, but we're going to give you a seven. Do you know what I mean? Fine by me.
00:13:50
Speaker 3: Clearly it's working because the numbers were good and I like her and I'm glad she's staying. So yeah, you know, I'm not sure either. I believe that that's a legal thing. I'm not sure that they can do that because there's money involved, like they're getting paid to be there. So I think that the The rules and the guidelines are very strict when it comes to that.
00:14:06
Speaker 1: Yeah.
00:14:07
Speaker 3: But you could be right. But either way, I'm okay with it. I am glad that she's there. I love to see the personality in her and the connection. And I love to see her connecting with the fans. I told you that's what I need as a viewer from the show.
00:14:19
Speaker 1: Yeah, totally.
00:14:20
Speaker 3: And again, I don't dance.
00:14:22
Speaker 1: Like you, Trista. So I was like, oh, it was good. It was good, right? She got a 19 out of 30. Totally. The judges had really good things to say about her. Yeah, they did. Yeah.
00:14:32
Speaker 2: And that's my wonder. You know, they want to keep her around. And mind you, I didn't want her to go last night. So I'm glad that she's around.
00:14:42
Speaker 1: But I will. It just wasn't my favorite dance. It was good. It wasn't, like, great compared to some of these great dances that we're seeing. You know what I mean? Sure. I'll give you that.
00:15:06
Speaker 2: Okay, so Guillermo is next with Whitney. And I know he's not your favorite necessarily, but I just love how he is like, he's funny and he just makes fun of himself. And I love somebody who can play with like the fact that they're maybe not the best dancer and and poke fun at themselves like i i just i love i love that about him i loved the dance i thought it was hysterical at the end when she rips open his shirt and he's like i'm here for um dancing for the for the people yes so.
00:15:49
Speaker 1: Yeah. Cute. Like I really, yes. It's not that I don't like him, right?
00:15:54
Speaker 3: I do.
00:15:54
Speaker 1: He's a fun aspect of the show.
00:15:56
Speaker 3: I do not think he's going to go all the way, but he gives a good comedic relief to the show. He does not come on there and act like he's the best dancer in the world. But I will tell you a couple of things that I noticed. And just from you mentioning it early on, I did see Whitney talking him through the dance and I didn't like that. It was distracting for me. And I imagine, right, as an instructor, she probably has to do that. She's just trying to get him through the end of the dance. But I just like, as a viewer, I saw it and I was kind of like, ah.
00:16:28
Speaker 1: But she wasn't the only one.
00:16:29
Speaker 3: I saw a couple of other people do it last night. And it's just, it's not something that I ever noticed before. But I will say- he has improved.
00:16:39
Speaker 1: And that I love, right? From the very first dance that he did. And again, he is straight up like, I am not a dancer. This is so fun. Thank you for having me. He's got a big grateful heart, which you know I love.
00:16:49
Speaker 3: And he has improved. His dancing improved last night. I mean, he got a 15 out of 30. That's a really great score for him.
00:16:56
Speaker 1: Yeah. All fives. Yeah. I thought it was great.
00:16:59
Speaker 2: And I love that he was pumping up the crowd afterwards and like, you know, getting away from Alfonso and just like, let's go. And then he said, we're keeping it cute. I was like, that's going to be a meme somewhere or something. We're keeping it cute. We're keeping it cute.
00:17:15
Speaker 1: I love it.
00:17:16
Speaker 2: We do have to reverse a little bit and talk about In the Skybox with Julianne, how they're doing these mocktails. And I feel like sometimes... Sometimes it's just not needed. It's not necessary. They're trying to fill all these moments and you know, make back some money with the advertising and whatever for this company or for the mocktails or whatever. And I, I'm just like, do we really need mocktails? Like they want to be like. throwing their arms up in the air when they get a good score.
00:17:46
Speaker 1: Well, did you.
00:17:47
Speaker 3: Notice a couple of times with the mocktails, like the pro next to them took it so that they could hold a microphone and talk at the same time?
00:17:54
Speaker 1: It was just weird.
00:17:55
Speaker 2: I just don't know that it fits in there. I love a cocktail or a mocktail. I'm all about it. I just don't know that that was the place. I feel like there's the show, the after show with Robert Irwin. I don't know if they're doing it. I feel like they did it the first week. But that's a place for it. Like, they could put it into there, but I just don't know that it's the right spot for it.
00:18:19
Speaker 3: Yeah.
00:18:19
Speaker 1: A weird little addition that I just didn't need. Yeah, exactly. Okay, so Tatiana and Jan were up next, and.
00:18:29
Speaker 3: She has come so far. I don't even know the right saying. She has come miles in just a few weeks.
00:18:35
Speaker 2: I feel like the right saying is what Derek said, that it was her breakthrough moment. It was totally her breakthrough.
00:18:40
Speaker 1: Yeah, it was gorgeous. Gorgeous.
00:18:43
Speaker 2: And what I have been talking about since the beginning, too, is actresses and actors have a leg up when they have to act within their number. And she was great at it. That gave so much more depth to the routine. It wasn't just dancing. It was like a story.
00:19:04
Speaker 1: You know what I mean?
00:19:05
Speaker 3: I loved her little shimmy over, um, over when she walks over his face or a little shimmy over.
00:19:10
Speaker 1: I don't even know what to call it, Trista. I'm such a, you know what I mean?
00:19:13
Speaker 3: I don't even know what to call that. But like when he's like on the ground and she kind of shimmies over her face, like I saw so much personality there and like, just like, a freaking queen.
00:19:22
Speaker 1: You know what I mean?
00:19:23
Speaker 3: Like the first couple of weeks you could tell she was so nervous and so scared. And I feel like, like she came alive in that dance. Like she was like, owned it, owned her personality, owned the dance, got out there, freaking killed it. And then when they did that little thing, she shimmied over him with her pants.
00:19:37
Speaker 1: I was like, she cute girl, go ahead.
00:19:39
Speaker 3: Yes.
00:19:40
Speaker 2: And why there's two Hall and Oates songs so far. Is there another Hall and Oates song? Because two out of 10 or however many, dances we have, that seems like a lot. Why couldn't they pick another recording artist? I'm trying to go through all of them. Yeah, I think there's two of them. I love Hall & Oates, I will say, but it was just interesting to me that there's multiple of their songs.
00:20:07
Speaker 1: Okay, so she did the quick step. The quick step is hard.
00:20:09
Speaker 2: I've never done the quick step, but from what the pros say every single season on this show, the quick step is really hard, and I felt.
00:20:17
Speaker 1: Like it was a beautiful dance. Yeah, I mean, I can do the Roger Rabbit, so maybe I can quick step. You can do anything you put your mind to. Exactly, Trista.
00:20:28
Speaker 3: Thank you for encouraging all of my crazy thoughts that pass through my mind on a daily basis. She did so great. She got a 21 out of 30. Again, I told you, I'm so glad to see some higher scores. I'm so glad to see it be a competition now. And it was well-deserved.
00:20:49
Speaker 1: Well-deserved.
00:20:50
Speaker 3: I always thought, is Carrie Ann, does she play that part where she has to be the nitpicker?
00:20:55
Speaker 2: Yeah. Oh, she is.
00:20:56
Speaker 1: She is.
00:20:57
Speaker 2: But Derek does too. Bruno obviously is just like, I love him.
00:21:01
Speaker 1: I love him.
00:21:02
Speaker 3: I want to sit next to him. I want to like go to dinner with him. I want him to tell me I'm so great and like encourage me. I like, I just want to like bring him home with me.
00:21:10
Speaker 2: Totally.
00:21:12
Speaker 1: Yes.
00:21:12
Speaker 2: Carrie Ann can be, she's also kind of the supporter or the uplifter or whatever you want to call it. And Derek, since he's been in the ballroom recently, And I think it's maybe two or three seasons that he's been a regular judge. He is very much about technique. And he kind of took a little bit of Len Goodman's role in that Len always wanted there to be the content of the particular dance that they were doing. That he wants content of that dance. He doesn't want it to be like a freestyle with just a little bit of content. He wants that actual dance to be shown and then have a little bit of fun.
00:21:51
Speaker 1: Okay. Included in it. Yeah, it makes sense.
00:21:53
Speaker 3: I just was kind of like, Carrie Ann, give her her moment when she's like, she may have seen, and even she wasn't even confident that she saw the misstep.
00:22:00
Speaker 1: She was like, I think I saw it. But like, you know, like, just let her have her moment.
00:22:05
Speaker 3: Totally.
00:22:05
Speaker 1: Just let her have her moment. 21 out of 30, let her just rise above, girl. Yeah.
00:22:09
Speaker 3: Yeah.
00:22:10
Speaker 1: I agree.
00:22:10
Speaker 2: So they announced the People's Sexiest, sorry, the People's Sexiest Dancing with the Stars pros. And- I have to say I was a little shocked. I mean, I feel like all of them, they put the pictures up there.
00:22:24
Speaker 1: Holy abs. Did you see that picture of Pasha? Whoa.
00:22:29
Speaker 3: If Dancing with the Stars has taught me anything, Trista, it's that I want a set of abs.
00:22:35
Speaker 1: Like if it's, okay, I need to be a dancer now.
00:22:38
Speaker 3: Like that's my next go in this lifetime is that I need to be a dancer so that I can have a set of abs like that.
00:22:44
Speaker 1: Seriously. Those abs.
00:22:47
Speaker 2: I was like, and he's married to Danny, who is like a brick house too, like completely ripped.
00:22:55
Speaker 1: So I have to tell you, I was on a trip once in Cabo and they were there.
00:22:59
Speaker 3: With their family. I was staying at some nice resort. I was there on a trip for work and they were staying there. And although I didn't watch Dancing with the Stars, I know who they are. Like I see their stuff falling in my feed and you just know who they are from Dancing with the Stars. And I saw them and they were so unbothered, just them. And no one messed with them and they were able to live a normal life. And I was just like, that's cool. Like I like when that happens. Stars, they're just like us.
00:23:23
Speaker 1: Oh, great.
00:23:23
Speaker 2: Exactly.
00:23:23
Speaker 1: Exactly. You can go vote for.
00:23:29
Speaker 2: Your favorite Sexiest Dancing with the Stars pro on people.com if you want to go check it out.
00:23:35
Speaker 1: So it's Val, Pasha, Ezra, and Alan, right? Who would you pick, Trista?
00:23:41
Speaker 2: You know, the abs really got me, but I will say Val is one of my favorite all-time pros.
00:23:50
Speaker 1: Like, he just.
00:23:53
Speaker 2: also comes to dance competitions and teaches, um, my daughter, like my daughter's in the class with hundreds of other girls, you know, but, um, he, we were at this one dance competition. So this is like just a personal, you know, connection, which is why I love him. And I would vote for him. He was in the little restaurant and we came in and it was, it was a thing to get the girls Shirley temples. And so we came in to get a couple of Shirley temples with her and her friend. And I said hi, introduced myself, and said, you know, we're kind of part of the same family. We might have met before that. But anyway, he ended up buying the girls their Shirley Temples and just talked to us for a while. And so he'll always like— Okay, so I love that.
00:24:36
Speaker 1: I love that when people are like normal people. You know what I mean? I love that. I'm so glad that you shared that story.
00:24:43
Speaker 3: I love when people can be on top of the world but still have enough— humble parts of them to be normal people.
00:24:52
Speaker 1: I love that.
00:24:53
Speaker 2: And like these girls like so look up to him and Jenna, you know, like they idolize them almost. And so the fact that he was like, oh, I've got them for you. They were just in heaven. So if you make my daughter happy, you have my heart for the rest of forever.
00:25:11
Speaker 3: Direct line to my heart. Direct line to my heart. If you would like to win me over, love my children.
00:25:16
Speaker 1: Like, come on. Oh, I love that. That's so great.
00:25:18
Speaker 3: I would also vote for Val because, you know, he's very good looking and a great dancer, obviously.
00:25:23
Speaker 1: And abs, right? I'm in the market for some of those.
00:25:26
Speaker 3: But I think that he has a great personality, Trista. And I think that really shines through both on and off the dance floor. Like, I think he is full-blown entertainer.
00:25:38
Speaker 1: Yep.
00:25:39
Speaker 3: Agreed.
00:25:40
Speaker 1: Love it. Okay, so next is his lovely wife, Jenna, with Harry. And.
00:25:47
Speaker 1: He got all eights, too, because it was excellent. Excellent.
00:25:50
Speaker 2: Like, he looked like a pro out there. I will say, oh, it was the third Hall & Oates song. So there was another Hall & Oates song on this dance.
00:25:59
Speaker 3: Wonder if they bought the rights. We'll need our producer, Heather, to look into that. Like, did they buy the rights for those songs? And that's why they got to perform so many of them.
00:26:07
Speaker 1: They always do. But I think maybe they got a deal, because if they bought three, they got three for one. Three for one. Buy one, get two free, Trista. They save a lot. Come on. Oh, you're so funny. Oh my gosh.
00:26:24
Speaker 2: Okay, so with Harry and Jenna, I thought it was incredible. I loved the costumes, but I will say, and you're probably going to laugh at me about this, I was so distracted because her hair didn't move an iota. Like, it did not move. It was, like, plastered to her head. And I'm like, does she have a wig on? And it is just, like, a solid hair wig.
00:26:50
Speaker 1: Like, do you know what I mean? I didn't notice it at all.
00:26:53
Speaker 2: I'm sure.
00:26:54
Speaker 1: Now that you're saying that, right?
00:26:56
Speaker 2: Because.
00:26:57
Speaker 3: They were jiving, so there's a lot of bouncing going on.
00:27:00
Speaker 2: Yeah.
00:27:01
Speaker 1: Yeah, you're right.
00:27:02
Speaker 3: Her hair didn't move, but maybe that's the whole point. They didn't want her hair flipping around.
00:27:05
Speaker 1: I'm unsure. I don't know. I didn't notice it when I was watching it.
00:27:09
Speaker 2: It just distracted me. I was like, I just want to see a little hair movement. Not that it's part of the choreography or anything. I just was like waiting, like watching her hair, waiting for it to move.
00:27:24
Speaker 1: Just a little bit.
00:27:25
Speaker 3: Oh, my God. You're so funny.
00:27:25
Speaker 1: Isn't it so funny?
00:27:27
Speaker 3: It is really interesting, the things as viewers that we pick out that like these pros and these dancers, they're probably not, they don't think twice about this stuff. But it's like the normal people stuff that we think about. Like, why is her hair not moving? She's got so much Aquanet, you know? Yeah.
00:27:42
Speaker 2: Exactly it just takes you out of the moment you know what I mean so I feel like it regardless I'm probably one of maybe zero people or maybe a few people who even noticed it but it just it just drew like took me out of the dance just you know momentarily I came right back because it really was such a good jive like so much content and really it was like he was a professional I felt like.
00:28:12
Speaker 1: He's phenomenal. Yeah.
00:28:13
Speaker 3: I concur with everything that you say. And they got a 24 out of 30, which is, there I go again. I'm really happy to see a very high score, Trista. Give them what they deserve. And I love that they... And maybe they're just trying to pump up Grey's Anatomy, but I do love that they are noting like, hey, dude, you're filming a show right now. I I told you, I underestimate everyone's career until I actually have to do it. And I'm like, oh my gosh, okay, so he just gets up.
00:28:39
Speaker 1: There and reads a few lines. No, no, no, no, no.
00:28:41
Speaker 3: He is like working two very demanding jobs right now being on set. And the little pieces that I know, and you know this too, Trista, I love getting to be myself and getting paid to be myself. And I'm very extroverted, introverted. And it's a lot. I am exhausted when I come home from hosting an event or being my face out there and having to smile and be friendly and kind and all of those things.
00:29:13
Speaker 1: I can't imagine.
00:29:14
Speaker 3: I wonder when he comes home, does he just plop on the couch and he's like, I need to eat a cookie and watch something and not speak to anyone?
00:29:22
Speaker 1: I'm sure.
00:29:22
Speaker 2: I am the same way. And I'm sure it's just a personality thing.
00:29:27
Speaker 1: But there is....
00:29:29
Speaker 2: There's so much adrenaline that happens when you're on one of these shows. Not only is the adrenaline pump like right before you go on stage and really the whole week, like rehearsing and building it up in your mind and worrying about being out there on on live television and having to do your best but then you know, afterwards, just the excitement of the scores. Cause he got, got really great scores. He got the, um, he tied with Amber for the top of the leaderboard. So like all of that adrenaline is so up, up, up, up, up the entire night. So I can't imagine like Ryan, when he would come home from work, a lot of adrenaline too.
00:30:11
Speaker 1: He wouldn't be able to sleep until he calmed down. You need a moment to decompress. Yeah, totally. So I'm sure.
00:30:18
Speaker 2: I would assume that every single one of the celebs, the pros are used to it because this is their job. This is what they've been training for for years and years and years and years. But the celebs, not necessarily. So I can't imagine that every single one of them goes home and is like, I.
00:30:35
Speaker 1: Just have to veg. Whatever that veg looks like, I'm sure they're veg. Ice my calves. Ice my knees. We're old ladies. We're old ladies.
00:30:45
Speaker 3: And I already think knees are weird anyway. I think they're the worst part of a body. I don't even want to wear shorts because I think knees are so weird.
00:30:52
Speaker 1: But you know what I mean? Ice your knees because we're old.
00:30:56
Speaker 3: Yeah.
00:30:56
Speaker 1: Your whole body, truly.
00:30:58
Speaker 2: Get in an ice bath or a hot tub or whatever because they've got to be so sore. When you're dancing like this, you are activating muscles that you never even thought existed.
00:31:10
Speaker 1: So I think.
00:31:11
Speaker 2: They're probably all feeling it. Unfortunately, this is kind of the time when injuries happen. And so I'm wondering if there's going to be an injury on this season because they just work so hard and constant that they rarely have the time for breaks.
00:31:32
Speaker 1: So that's when your body breaks down.
00:31:34
Speaker 3: Yeah, I wouldn't be walking, Trista. So more power to all of these people. No kidding.
00:31:40
Speaker 1: No kidding. Yeah.
00:31:52
Speaker 2: Okay, so next is Taylor and Brit, and they had a lot of critiques of them. And it was interesting because I feel like this is where the critique, criticism kind of comes in for me is if you compare them, Julia and Brit, to Taylor Julia's dance in my mind was very similar to Taylor's like I felt like it wasn't um I don't know it wasn't the greatest it it just didn't like pull me in like I said but they gave her a lot of really good critiques and they gave him a lot of not so great critiques and so I that's where my confusion comes in like why wouldn't you say the same to Julia do you know what I'm saying um.
00:32:41
Speaker 1: I hear you, but I don't know that I feel the same.
00:32:43
Speaker 3: Yeah.
00:32:44
Speaker 2: Okay.
00:32:44
Speaker 3: I don't know that their dances were comparable. And again, I am, I am no professional dancer here, but when it came to Taylor, I was kind of like, every bit of it was a little dry for me.
00:32:58
Speaker 1: Yeah.
00:32:58
Speaker 2: Yeah. You know?
00:33:00
Speaker 3: Whereas she can still perform and smile and she's got, you know, she hits the points and sort of stuff. Whereas like when he got out there, it was like, if he didn't have a pro, he would have just been like spinning.
00:33:12
Speaker 1: Circles in the center of the dance floor.
00:33:14
Speaker 3: You know, it was kind of missing on all parts for me, the connection with the audience, the viewership, the connection with the camera.
00:33:22
Speaker 1: You know what I mean? The lack of enjoyment. On his face? I know. It feels like he just wasn't having a lot of fun. Like he's being forced to be there. There's no enthusiasm.
00:33:33
Speaker 2: Yeah, there wasn't enthusiasm for being there. And I felt like him and Britt have a good connection, but it was like, almost like.
00:33:42
Speaker 1: They're just friends. They're happy to be together.
00:33:44
Speaker 2: But all the other couples I feel like are very enthusiastic about being there.
00:33:49
Speaker 1: I actually don't think that they have a great connection. I didn't see it. Oh, you don't?
00:33:53
Speaker 3: When they were giving him his scores, like a lot of the pros and their celebrity, you see like the hugging, great job, the encouragement, all of that stuff. And that was lacking between the two of them. I don't think they hate each other by any means. So I don't know if it's like, I don't know if that's just, he's so dedicated to his wife and his children. He's not going to give off that vibe. He's, you know, and she's a beautiful woman.
00:34:17
Speaker 1: You know what I mean? Um, I'm not sure.
00:34:20
Speaker 3: Obviously is I'm not there and I'm, I'm no professional by any means, but it is not giving what some of the other partners in, in the show are giving, you know, like there is not a whole lot of engagement between the two of them when they are doing the interviews with Juliana, um, you know, I'm just not seeing it.
00:34:39
Speaker 1: I'm just not seeing it. It was more like a professional thing. Yeah. Like they're, yeah, totally.
00:34:43
Speaker 3: Like I could have just fist bumped each other and I thought that was more appropriate than them being like, great job.
00:34:47
Speaker 1: You're awesome. Thank you. You know?
00:34:49
Speaker 3: Yeah.
00:34:50
Speaker 1: So yeah.
00:34:51
Speaker 3: Yeah.
00:34:51
Speaker 2: Yep.
00:34:52
Speaker 1: True.
00:34:52
Speaker 3: Yeah. Well, they only got an 18 out of 30. So I thought that.
00:34:55
Speaker 1: Was very fitting.
00:34:57
Speaker 2: He wasn't the lowest on the leaderboard. He was, well, he was tied for third to last.
00:35:05
Speaker 3: Yeah.
00:35:05
Speaker 1: Yeah. I even thought that score was kind of generous, Trista.
00:35:09
Speaker 3: Yeah. Right.
00:35:11
Speaker 1: You know, and I hate doing that.
00:35:12
Speaker 3: I hate, I hate saying that, but I think if we're looking at a competition show, I thought that score was generous. Yeah.
00:35:18
Speaker 1: That's all.
00:35:18
Speaker 3: And I, you know, and coming from someone in episode one, I was, I was rooting for my Hanson brother. Like I was like, okay, bring them back. Let them have a new album. Let this be their comeback.
00:35:27
Speaker 1: You know what I mean?
00:35:27
Speaker 3: Like I was rooting for him and, and, and it's just not, um, portraying across the television.
00:35:33
Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying? Yeah.
00:35:34
Speaker 3: So I know that we texted back and forth last night. And for those listening, we usually do this. There's a group chat between our producer, Heather, and Trista and I, and we go off on the show. You know what I mean? Just noting things and talking about things that happened. Maura has so surprised me. And I need to say it here so that our listeners hear me. I genuinely did not have high expectations for her. And Maura, am I saying it right? Maura.
00:36:02
Speaker 2: Maura.
00:36:03
Speaker 1: And Mark. were so good last night. I expect it from Mark.
00:36:09
Speaker 3: Again, I know who he is, but she is so stunning on the dance floor with her.
00:36:15
Speaker 1: Stunning.
00:36:16
Speaker 3: This is going to sound weird, and I don't know if it's the right way to say it, but her limbs, her arms, and her legs move so gracefully like a dancer. And now it's Did she have the ability before she came into the ballroom?
00:36:30
Speaker 1: I don't think so. Or is this all, like, props to Mark? Like, he's just that good.
00:36:33
Speaker 2: No, this is Mark. This is Mark's teaching. He has been able to draw out a dancer. You know, like, she said, she's like, I have no— dance ability. He has drawn out those lines because there are a lot of people on the show who I said it last week have like pancake hands.
00:36:52
Speaker 1: Yeah.
00:36:53
Speaker 2: And that cuts like your hands do not look pretty with pancake hands unless you're like a cheerleader and you're like doing like, you know, like hard staccato movements. In ballroom, you definitely need to like focus on your hands. I remember, I think I told you this. I remember in one of our dances, the Roomba that I did Louie was like, stick your pinky up. And it's very precise. Like your hands need to be in a certain placement. Because it goes against everything that we are.
00:37:20
Speaker 3: You know, when you watch the old like English and they're like drinking with their, and it was like a way that you made fun. Like I have said this to you before, like everything that they have to check off the list mentally before they start. Okay, smile, be this, be animated, watch your fingers, do your pinky, point your toes, like, you know, and remember a dance that they just learned.
00:37:39
Speaker 2: Yes. And not, and being not a dancer and that this is the, the contradiction of Taylor and Mara.
00:37:48
Speaker 1: Like Mara is so excited to be there.
00:37:51
Speaker 2: She has such an enthusiasm for this show and she's so happy to be there. And she's so happy to be doing it with Mark. Like the fact that That's what I'm talking about. I love to see enthusiasm. Yes, you can be bummed out that maybe you just didn't perform the best. I totally understand that. But it was never there with Taylor. And with Mara, it is so there. She is so elegant out there in this dance and was so passionate in the tango.
00:38:22
Speaker 3: That is a great comparison, Trista. We just went from Taylor... To her. It is a great comparison because as a viewer, when you are watching it on the screen, you're giving off two totally different vibes.
00:38:34
Speaker 1: Totally. She like bleeds it. You know what I mean? Totally.
00:38:38
Speaker 3: I feel it when she is dancing. I feel her joy and her excitement and I feel the connection between her and Mark. And that was lacking with Taylor and his partner. That is a prime example of what we're talking about here.
00:38:51
Speaker 1: Yeah, I totally agree.
00:38:52
Speaker 2: And I do want to point out in her dances, she is so good about finding the camera, about playing up the camera, like with a little bit of acting thrown in there and just having so much fun. I do have to say, I thought she deserved way more than one eight. Like she should have gotten at least.
00:39:12
Speaker 1: One more eight.
00:39:13
Speaker 2: And- And then I would have been a little more happy, but I thought her dance, like she is a stunner. I called it last night and I've called it before on our text thread.
00:39:24
Speaker 1: I see her in the final. That's so awesome. Yeah. I don't know that I saw it before, but I saw it last night. I saw it last night.
00:39:30
Speaker 3: And honestly, with her accent, I could just sit around and listen to her talk all day long. Like there, sometimes I, I hate to say this, but sometimes the, whatever the pre footage is of them when they're practicing, sometimes I'm kind of like, I don't know. I don't really, you know, but I always watch theirs because I, She has such a playful, fun personality. And even though she is saying like, this is hard, I'm trying so hard, I don't want to disappoint Mark, you know, all of those things.
00:40:00
Speaker 1: I just love that she is so carefree. And then I just like to hear her talk.
00:40:04
Speaker 3: All of her little like, all of her things. I just like to hear her speak. And she's, yeah, she's beautiful. 22 out of 30, I thought was very fitting. But yeah, maybe she could have gotten a better score. But I like to see her each week improving.
00:40:20
Speaker 1: And yeah, I think that she has a place in the final, Trista. I think you could be right. I hope so. I hope so. Because I really love watching her on the dance floor. Yeah.
00:40:30
Speaker 2: Okay. Sierra and Brandon, that hair was amazing. I was like, yes, she should get high scores just for the hair.
00:40:39
Speaker 1: She is so gorgeous.
00:40:40
Speaker 3: I don't know if you watched the VMAs this week, but I watched the pre-shows and she was walking the carpet.
00:40:46
Speaker 1: And she wore this really smoke. I mean, she is She's gorgeous. She's gorgeous.
00:40:51
Speaker 3: She was wearing this really smoking hot brown outfit, like burying her whole body. But it was giving very Tyra Banks from like 20 years ago. Yeah.
00:41:00
Speaker 1: Yeah, totally. I loved the vibe of this dance.
00:41:04
Speaker 2: I didn't think it was the greatest dance. She seemed very wobbly. And like she didn't stick her movements. There was just a lot of, it just wasn't clean enough for me.
00:41:15
Speaker 1: But she's clearly gorgeous. extremely smoking hot. So yeah. Yeah.
00:41:21
Speaker 3: She got an 18 out of 30. I'm not sure that, you know, what do I know about, about scoring, but yeah.
00:41:29
Speaker 1: I thought she did good.
00:41:30
Speaker 2: Yeah.
00:41:30
Speaker 1: I thought she did good. I thought she did good. So yeah, I didn't quite get the whole like persona thing.
00:41:36
Speaker 3: I know they tried to tell us that and give us the backstory, but I think it was lacking for me.
00:41:43
Speaker 2: I think it just had to do with like the whole, like the outfit and like how she was at the beginning of the dance, like kind of on the top of the stage when they were clinking glasses.
00:41:56
Speaker 3: Well, she explains that when she was in Summer House, they did a 70s party.
00:42:00
Speaker 2: Yeah.
00:42:01
Speaker 3: And that's where this like persona was born, right? So then they tried to parlay it into this and in her dance. And I guess it was a whole backstory that I just didn't need.
00:42:12
Speaker 1: I just didn't need it. Yeah. Like, yeah.
00:42:14
Speaker 3: Cool.
00:42:14
Speaker 1: You have gold teeth in.
00:42:15
Speaker 3: Cool.
00:42:16
Speaker 1: Like you looked great. You danced well.
00:42:18
Speaker 3: Right.
00:42:18
Speaker 1: But like, I didn't need, I didn't need the persona. Right.
00:42:21
Speaker 3: But then they even, when she's being interviewed, they ask her about it. She's like, just look at the teeth.
00:42:25
Speaker 1: And I'm like, well, I don't. Okay. You know, like, it's like, it's up there with me with the mocktails. I didn't need it. Totally. Right. Didn't need it.
00:42:34
Speaker 2: Yeah.
00:42:34
Speaker 1: I agree. Okay, Jackson and Emma.
00:42:48
Speaker 2: He did Easy Lover by Philip Bailey and Phil Collins.
00:42:53
Speaker 1: I mean, hello. Phil Collins is just an icon. So....
00:42:59
Speaker 2: Carrie Ann said she loved the intensity. Derek said there were some really good moments. He wants to see him more bold. I felt like I wrote down in my notes because I actually ended up taking notes last night. I'm like, I need to remember. And you know my memory.
00:43:14
Speaker 1: It sucks.
00:43:14
Speaker 2: So Carrie Ann said he wasn't syncing with the music. Totally agree with that. His musicality, like he doesn't hit the.
00:43:23
Speaker 1: the beat.
00:43:24
Speaker 2: He, he is not hitting everything on the beat. She said he was above the beat, which I totally agree with. I need, that's just a very basic part of dancing, especially on this show. Like in the very beginning when Giada was like, I, she couldn't find the beat. I was like, Oh, this does not bode well for her because in, in dance, you have to have rhythm and, and be able to pick up the beat. And I just feel like he's not landing on the beat. So hopefully that's something he can work on next week. But I, yeah, it wasn't, it wasn't my favorite. It kind of fell flat too, because I was, I was watching and being like, oh no, he missed it again.
00:44:03
Speaker 1: Oh no, he missed it. Do you know, do you know what I mean? Like it kept distracting me. Yeah.
00:44:07
Speaker 3: And I think that, you know, when he's on the baseball field, it's just a different thing that he's doing.
00:44:13
Speaker 1: Right, and he's performing to a massive crowd.
00:44:15
Speaker 3: He's trying to do this dance. So I love that he's giving it a shot, and I love that we're seeing a different side of him. But I am guessing, Trista, that in the next couple of weeks, we're going to see that it just doesn't line up.
00:44:29
Speaker 2: Yep.
00:44:30
Speaker 1: It doesn't line up.
00:44:31
Speaker 2: I will say, I will give them this. I always see Emma giving, like, the verbal cues or the counts or whatever, like you said with Whitney and Guillermo this time, she does that all the time, almost every season. And usually she has like lower level dancers. She was, she was not doing it last night. So I, and I, now I'm looking for it, like actually watching her to see if she is doing it, which is not a good thing to be doing when I'm trying to take in the whole dance, you know? but they did not do it last night. So I'm like, okay, at least she's not having to give him verbal cues and he's getting the dance, you know?
00:45:16
Speaker 1: So I don't know. I really was happy about that. That's improvement to me. Yeah.
00:45:21
Speaker 2: Yeah.
00:45:22
Speaker 1: Well, it's all right. It was missed.
00:45:24
Speaker 3: Connor and Riley, these two little cutie pies. I mean, they're just, I just want to like send them to like the diner down the street and have them share a milkshake. Like they are just adorable cuties. Young, innocent, sweet.
00:45:37
Speaker 1: You know what I mean?
00:45:39
Speaker 3: I also didn't love his dance. He got a 20 out of 30. And he's the one for me where I'm kind of like, ah, I don't know. Did he really deserve that?
00:45:49
Speaker 1: I don't think so either. Yeah. I thought it was a very generous score.
00:45:54
Speaker 2: Yeah, very generous. That's also where I'm like, really?
00:45:57
Speaker 1: Did he deserve that? Are we keeping him around? Yeah. The mullet, love the mullet. And I do love their partnership.
00:46:06
Speaker 2: I feel like all of us are shipping them together, right? I really wish that they do go out on a date. It doesn't matter if you go for a milkshake, but I love that visual. Yeah. Yeah, I think they're really cute. I don't necessarily see him going very far, but I think he'll be around for at least a couple more weeks.
00:46:28
Speaker 3: You know what I also, just real quick before we move on to Jenna Dewan, is like the judges' feedback didn't match that great score.
00:46:37
Speaker 1: Yeah, right. You know what I mean?
00:46:38
Speaker 3: Like they had several critiques for him. It wasn't really terrible, but it just didn't match that generous of a score.
00:46:47
Speaker 2: Yeah.
00:46:48
Speaker 3: Yeah.
00:46:49
Speaker 1: So it was fine. 20 out of 30.
00:46:50
Speaker 3: I mean, that was excellent, right? We'll see him dance another week, which is super exciting. My big hit for the night, which is no surprise, Trista, was Jenna Dewan and Val. She was like a sweet little love kitten out there dancing her little face off.
00:47:07
Speaker 1: It is no surprise. She is... phenomenal. She's phenomenal. She looked beautiful. Her hair was great.
00:47:15
Speaker 3: I loved the little, I don't know what they are, little rhinestones that were on her eyes. Like when she was doing her, after her dance, her little interview backstage, I was just staring at her.
00:47:23
Speaker 1: Like she's just beautiful to look at.
00:47:26
Speaker 2: She is gorgeous and she's an incredible dancer. Two things that I know. She is, she is a dancer. Like she, she could definitely be in the final.
00:47:38
Speaker 1: Yeah.
00:47:39
Speaker 2: But the thing about this show is you need to feel connected to the people who are on it and in order to vote for them, which is what we're seeing with Taylor. I don't think people were connecting to him. So that's, you know, why what happens happens or what happened happens with her in their package. And I don't know if you watched it because you said sometimes you'll zone out. Val specifically said to her in the package at the rehearsal, like, your dancing is amazing, but we need to know who Jenna is. Yeah. And again, she said, I'm here because I love to dance. I get that. I understand that. And it doesn't need to be your why, why you're doing the show. But we want more Jenna. We want more of the like, bring us into your story. Bring us into... behind the scenes, push open the curtain and let us see inside.
00:48:33
Speaker 1: And I feel like we're... Yeah, is that what you're asking for? Yes, yes. I need that.
00:48:37
Speaker 2: Like, I need that with her. As I've said, I looked up to her. She was one of the people in... As Janet Jackson's backup dancer, like, I wanted to be her. And.
00:48:49
Speaker 2: I'm not connecting to her, even though she's an amazing dancer. She could very well be in the final, but she needs to be more vulnerable and let us in. Yeah. Yeah.
00:49:00
Speaker 3: No, I agree.
00:49:01
Speaker 1: I agree. I'm caught up in how beautiful she looks out there. You know what I mean? And she does. She looks great. Right? Bruno said it was a sizzling tropical treat.
00:49:11
Speaker 3: Yes. I was like.
00:49:12
Speaker 1: I want to be a sizzling tropical treat. I mean, who doesn't?
00:49:16
Speaker 2: I will say someone said this. I can't remember which judge. but they do want, I want to see her slow down. And it's not her fault that she's had all fast pieces, but I would like to see the elegant side of her come out. I want to see her in a waltz or a foxtrot next. And I hope that she'll get one of those dances.
00:49:34
Speaker 1: Yeah.
00:49:34
Speaker 3: So I think it was Derek. I think he said he wants to see her slow down. And he also made the comment he wants to see her hair up. Yes, right. Because there is a lot of like, she's got these fast dances. So there's a lot of hair whipping around and she has that. She is very good at acting and she puts on that very sultry vibe. Is that the word I'm looking for? She's very sexy. She's very sexy. And the hair is sexy when she's whipping it around and she's making faces at the camera. And she's, you know, yeah, I think he was really right on point when he said he'd like to see her slow down and he wants to see her hair up. So we'll probably get that next week, don't you think?
00:50:10
Speaker 1: I would hope. Yeah. Okay. Well, she did great. She got a 21 out of 30, Trista. That was a good score, right? Great score.
00:50:17
Speaker 2: She was at the top of the leaderboard. I think that it was... Oh, here we go. I took a picture of it. Amber and Harry were at the top, and then Mara was next. Oh, and then Ezra, Jenna, and Tatiana were tied for one, two, three, four, fourth, essentially.
00:50:34
Speaker 1: So she wasn't at the very top, but she got a good score. Yeah, she got a good score. Let's move on to my boyfriend. Yep. I'm going to say this in the most loving way. I was wondering what was going to come out of your mouth today. Tyler, I'm your biggest fan. Do not hold this against me.
00:50:54
Speaker 3: I'm so glad that you're there and I get to see you move around on the dance floor and you've got your fiance there and your ex-girlfriend and me.
00:51:04
Speaker 1: So like you have so much going for you. Yeah.
00:51:09
Speaker 2: Oh, man.
00:51:10
Speaker 3: Man, Trista, he looks like the giant, the Jolly Green Giant moving around on the dance floor.
00:51:19
Speaker 1: And that's to be expected, right? He's a big boy. I mean, what is he like?
00:51:23
Speaker 3: He's mine and our producer's Heather's, our dream. He's like 6'4 or something like that. We like him tall. But he looks it on the dance floor.
00:51:32
Speaker 1: He does not.
00:51:34
Speaker 3: And I don't know if it's just how big he is. He cannot move, like, fluidly, like, gracefully. And, you know, also that he's a man, right?
00:51:43
Speaker 1: The hands, right? The pancake hands, yeah.
00:51:45
Speaker 3: But even when he was— I was watching his feet. Even when he's doing his feet, it is very much like a great one, two.
00:51:51
Speaker 1: Yeah. One, two. It is not like a fluid one, two at all.
00:51:56
Speaker 2: Which is another example of why the dance that you get assigned and they get assigned dances— is so important because he's so much better at the slow movements when he can be in frame and even in the like kind of like power position and leading instead of trying to like attack fast moves like those aren't that's not his vibe so i'm glad he's gonna be around another week me too.
00:52:22
Speaker 1: You know I'm glad, Trista.
00:52:24
Speaker 3: I mean, you know I'm very happy about this. I was like scared for my boy last night that he was, you know, that he was on the chopping block. So I'm very glad that we all get to look at Tyler Cameron another week. You know what? He very much looks like he's constantly counting in his head.
00:52:40
Speaker 2: He is. I'm sure he is. I don't think he deserved the five. He got a five and two sixes. So he ended up with the 17 out of 30. But I was very scared that he was going to be sent home last night.
00:52:51
Speaker 1: Yeah.
00:52:52
Speaker 2: Okay, so moving on, because we've got to get going. Ezra and Dani, again, they're my favorite. They're my favorite this season. He constantly shows us that it does not matter what you've been given at birth.
00:53:08
Speaker 1: It's what you do with it.
00:53:09
Speaker 2: And he is just so amazing, so easy to love.
00:53:15
Speaker 1: I love their partnership. I think they're like the enthusiastically.
00:53:22
Speaker 2: Brother-sister duo. They love each other so much, and they have so much fun together. And he is so enjoying the show and is so enthusiastic, and he's so freaking good. I honestly call him to win the entire season.
00:53:37
Speaker 1: What? Yes.
00:53:40
Speaker 2: I feel like he's my favorite.
00:53:43
Speaker 1: Okay.
00:53:44
Speaker 3: So, okay, everyone. Trista just called it. You think that he'll be it.
00:53:50
Speaker 1: I do. I think he will be it. I don't know. I hope he's it.
00:53:54
Speaker 2: I feel like he's giving everything that we need him to give. He's such a fan favorite. At least he's mine. And I have a feeling that he's a lot of people too. He's also doing a really good job of social media. And I think in today's day and age, that is so important to winning this show. Like Julia was saying that she was off of like social media this week. And I think it affected her. I think you have to keep up with the fans and Ezra and Danny are doing a great job of that.
00:54:24
Speaker 1: Okay, you've heard it here, people. Trista is calling it.
00:54:27
Speaker 3: I'm not ready to call my winner yet, Trista, because I don't like to be wrong.
00:54:31
Speaker 1: I'm like, I don't care. I just want him to win. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong. There you have it, folks.
00:54:37
Speaker 3: Trista is calling Ezra to win the Mirrorball trophy at the end of this.
00:54:43
Speaker 1: Okay. All right.
00:54:45
Speaker 2: Okay, so we got to close out, but we unfortunately had to say goodbye.
00:54:50
Speaker 1: There were three in the lower....
00:54:53
Speaker 2: Oh my God, I cannot speak today. There were three in the bottom three. We had Guillermo, we had Jackson, and we had Taylor, and Taylor ended up going home. I have to point out really quickly, I don't know if you were watching, but when they announced Taylor was the one that would be going home, Britt multiple times to Taylor said, I'm so sorry.
00:55:18
Speaker 1: I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry.
00:55:20
Speaker 2: And I was like, why are you apologizing? She was taking so much of that, internalizing it.
00:55:29
Speaker 1: It was like she was just being responsible for it. It was all her fault. I know. I don't think it was her fault, truly.
00:55:35
Speaker 3: So I'm wondering if there is something that we didn't see as viewers, because also at the end, when they talk to them or whatever, and then as they're signing off the show, when all of the other dancers come out, I'm not sure if you caught this.
00:55:48
Speaker 1: I caught it right away.
00:55:49
Speaker 3: Jenna is the first one who comes up to her and she looks completely bug-eyed, shocked, but you see her and I could not figure out what she was saying, but she is whispering something to her.
00:56:01
Speaker 1: And I don't know what she said. I'd love to know. I'd love to know what she said. If we need to go back and.
00:56:07
Speaker 3: Replay that, I tried to see if I could figure it out, but there's something going on there that I don't think we know about.
00:56:13
Speaker 2: I agree. They were hugging for a really long time. There's a group of people around them, and Jenna would not let go because they were having a personal conversation.
00:56:24
Speaker 3: But even there, Trista, you saw the connection with her, with everyone else, not with the two of them. When they're sent home and the two of them, I mean, you see them hug, obviously. But even when they interview them, he's not like, listen, she's the greatest partner. She did a fantastic job. I'm so grateful, blah, blah, blah. She says it about him that she is grateful.
00:56:43
Speaker 1: Yeah. So I don't know if it's just a miss. I don't know. I feel like there's more that we don't know about. And maybe we'll never know, but that's okay because I'm going to keep watching. I won't be able to sleep at night. All right, everyone.
00:56:59
Speaker 2: Thanks for listening to the most dramatic dance floor ever. Hopefully you'll continue to tune in wherever you listen to podcasts at Almost Famous Podcast. Deanna, love our time together. Thanks for listening, everybody.
00:57:12
Speaker 3: Bye. Thank you.
00:56:59
