Speaker 1: Hey, it's Mark Simone. Welcome to the bonus segment of the podcast. This is an extra show just for you podcast listeners out there. So, The View. It's still on the air. They're all 100 years old now on The View. It's like an old age home with a bunch of clucking hens. The View. All of a sudden, Joy Behar says she wants to have Donald Trump back on The View. Huh. Now, you remember in the old days of The View, in the heyday, back in the Barbara Walters running it to days of The View, they would have all sorts of people on, conservatives, liberals. They would have Donald Trump on. He was a regular guest. They would have Ann Coulter on. She was a regular guest. Bill O'Reilly was a regular guest. So they'd fight with him and debate, but it was all friendly and in good spirit. But then all that changed. It became the most biased left-wing show ever. never, ever any conservative guest of any kind, no Republicans were ever allowed on. Well, over at ABC, they're getting a little nervous now because the Trump administration has come after ABC a couple of times. They caught them lying about stuff. Remember that George Stephanopoulos lies about Trump and ABC had to settle that for 15 million. So a few of those things. Then the FCC has been threatening their licenses. If They're going to be so one-sided and slanted. You know, ABC owns television stations. That's a big part of their business. They're owning 10 TV stations in major cities. And they could threaten the FCC license. So word went around to a lot of these shows, you know, you better try to be a little more balanced. You better try to have an occasional conservative on. So that could be one of the reasons. Joy Behar says... I want Donald Trump on. I want him to take the heat. You know, Trump is not long for this world. He seems ill. He does not seem like he's well, Behar added. Well, first of all, he's just fine. He was in like 600 cities in three days this week. He's flying all over. He's fine. I hate to say it because she's an old friend, but Joy Behar is having tremendous health problems, in fact. We told you the story the other day. There are people at The View urging her to retire because apparently she's her balance, a few other things. She's taken a couple of bad falls and they lead her around backstage. And, you know, you can't do that in front of the audience when she comes out. They're worried about her taking a very serious fall. So she's actually much older than Trump. So I don't know what she's up to. I don't know what they're up to here. And she says, I want him to come here and take the heat. Well, he's taking a lot bigger heat than that. In fact, he lights up when you come after him. It could also be, she knows, knowing him, he'll take the challenge. It doesn't need to be on The View. It's not a big show. There's not a big audience there. But he knows it'll go viral. She knows it'll go viral. It might help get them more ratings. It'll help bring some attention to The View. So that might be why she's doing it. Hey, you know, Gavin Newsom, he was married to Kimberly Guilfoyle. That's right. This Kimberly Guilfoyle has had quite a history. She was almost married to Donald Trump Jr. She was married to Gavin Newsom way back when he was the mayor of San Francisco. She was actually the first lady of San Francisco. But, you know, Kimberly Guilfoyle was fired as the ambassador to Greece and They finally asked Newsome about it. He said, I don't know enough about it. I haven't talked to her in a long time. I wish her the best. I don't have much, honestly, much more to say. It's unfortunate, but I don't know anything about it. Well, okay. At least he's being a little gracious about it. Hey, for people that buy stuff online or for shoppers, you know, a lot of people, uh, women, believe it or not, women do this all the time. You know, uh, I don't know how you buy certain things on Amazon clothing. I mean, like shoes, how do you know they're going to fit? Uh, even if you bought, uh, you know, certain things, a scarf, obviously you don't have to worry, but certain kinds of clothes, how do you know it'll fit? Women do this all the time. They don't mind. They'll order shoes. They'll return them. They'll order another size that don't fit. It'll return. They keep returning, return goes on all the time. And these companies like Amazon, boy, they make it really easy to return. You just put it back in the box. You don't even have to send it. You can just take it over to, uh, a whole food where they have an Amazon counter where they got these Amazon centers. There's a million places. You could just take the box and they'll send it back. But, uh, some of these companies are cracking down on this. Now they're going to, they're all of a sudden now there's a fee to return. Uh, there's a couple of them that are putting, um, um, a little charge there. There's a processing fee to return. Uh, turns out returns are costing an average of 27% of, uh, Some of these products, according to a study, so the days of carefree, order three sizes, return two of them. They're starting to put, more and more companies will do this too. They're starting to put fees and charges on them. Speaking of Gavin Newsom, he's been just terrible as governor of California. Most of the California left-wing voters, too dumb to notice, but a study came out showing he added $ 14 billion in taxes just the last few years. $ 14 billion in taxes. One state, just one state, California. Now, this comes as Californians already pay the nation's highest gasoline tax, highest sales tax rate, highest personal income tax rate. $ 14 billion on top of that. Hey, there was a touching story this week. You know, they always name the high school after an ex-president. It was Thomas Jefferson High School. There's once in a while, once in a while, big celebrity. There's a Jack Benny High School in his hometown. There's a Tony Bennett High School in Queens. But this high school, they named it after Marilyn Hampton. Oh, actually, it's an elementary school. But the school is named for Marilyn Hampton. Who was Marilyn Hampton? She was the custodian at the school. For 39 years, she was the custodian. They had a little event where everybody was gathered, and they announced they were going to name the school after her. Well, she broke down and cried. She was the custodian who was going to retire, and the school district board, she was so beloved, and she was such a friend and mentor and helped the students. She was so close to all the students that she was not a teacher. She was just the custodian, never a teacher. But she was kind of, they said she was like an educator at heart, helped a lot of students, and they wanted to just show their gratitude. They're naming the high school after her. When she heard, she broke down and cried. She would help some of the students, got them school supplies, helped them study. So it's a touching story. Very, very nice thing to do. Hey, Barack and Michelle Obama, what a lovely couple, huh? They're celebrating their 34th anniversary this week. Remember the world, those divorce rumors flying around every which way. But it's their 34th anniversary. They were seen gushing over each other in a little photo op. They shared a photo of them embracing on Instagram with the former President Obama lovingly gazing at Michelle as she rested a hand on his arm. Probably squeezing it like crazy to get a smile out of him. And then he wrote, happy anniversary, Michelle Obama. I'm still the luckiest guy in the world to be with you. You make up your own joke there. Sorry. Barack and Michelle Obama previously faced divorce speculation after Barack attended the Jimmy Carter funeral without her. Remember, he also attended the Donald Trump inauguration. Without her, all right, so they're pretending to be happy. All right, we'll buy that for now. Hey, Chris Rock, he's like Bill Maher. I assume he's a liberal, but sometimes he can be real common sense and speak out. He said the woke movement has gone way too far. It is ruthless. He said it is the Salem witch trials all over again. You know, he said Salem witch hunts. I'm sure the first three witches they caught were actually witches, but the rest weren't. And he said, that's what this woke cancel culture, all this crap is. It's infiltrated everything. It's infiltrated our universities. These professors are the most left-wing kooks. Now, here's a student in New Jersey. He likes Trump. He has a Trump 2020 flag in his bedroom wall. So they were doing some kind of Zoom call where the students were Zooming. In the background, you could see he had a Trump flag on the wall. Well, the woke New Jersey professor went nuts, called the student a racist for having a Trump thing on his bedroom wall. First of all, it's his bedroom. He's entitled to put up anything he wants. None of the teacher's business. But the teacher went after him, demanding the student take it off the wall, brought the entire class to a halt. yelled and screamed it was offensive and this student was obviously a racist. Now, I don't know why the hell this teacher isn't fired immediately, but the student, luckily, is going to file a complaint in New Jersey Supreme Court. Yeah, he should. He should go after this teacher. It's absolutely awful. You're allowed to be on... I mean, that's the whole idea of American politics. You get involved, you put a banner up, you make a donation, you work on a campaign. The kid is now demanding damages for educational harm, emotional distress and humiliation. Hopefully the court rules in his favor. They said he wasn't able to graduate. He was forced to drop the course because of this animus from this awful, awful, awful bigoted teacher. His attorney argued the case speaks volumes to how Academic institutions meant to foster debate and meaningful discussion have become censors and bigots discriminating against one side. It's just an awful, awful story. There's some good rulings somewhere. Court cases now have caused New York State. State of New York had a ban on any Native American logo. You know, you can't be the Cleveland Indians or the Washington Redskins anymore. I don't know why. The Cleveland Indians. What is bad about that? It's now, what is it called? The Cleveland Guardians? I don't know what the hell that is. They sound like an insurance company. But New York is now dropping the ban. There was a ban. You were not allowed to have a Native American logo. So they've dropped the ban, which means Massapequa. It's a big victory for them. They were called the Massapequa Chiefs. And they had an Indian sort of a logo. Excuse me, Native American logo. And what's offensive about that? The Massapequa Chiefs. I mean, they're using it as a compliment. If they're calling the team that, they feel it's a compliment. So the border regions, I guess they're going to allow Massapequa to have the logo back. Well, that's very good news. Hey, there's steakhouses opening all over New York. You know, supposedly everybody's eating healthy, no more red meat, all of this stuff. Steakhouses opening all over the place. Look at this. There's a million new ones. Here's 15 about to open. Major, major steakhouses. There's a new one. Palladino's in Grand Central. Danielle has opened a new steakhouse. Delmonico's, that's a big steakhouse downtown. They're coming to Midtown, opening another one. Also coming Jack D's, Maple and Ash. These are big steakhouses from Chicago. A couple of big ones from Las Vegas are coming here. Jose Andres, that famous Spanish chef, very annoying guy, very left-wing kook too, is bringing one. So that's coming. Actually, he has a restaurant in Nomad, and he's converting it to a steakhouse. So big, big trend. And there's still all the great ones, Del Frisco and Mastro's and The Palm and all those great steakhouses all over New York. Hey, we're out of time, but this has been the bonus segment of the podcast just for you podcast listeners. We always appreciate you listening. Thanks for listening. And I'll see you next week, 9 to noon, live on the radio or the podcast. Have a great weekend. Mark Simone here. Thanks for listening.
