ABOUT THIS EPISODE
If an elections office uses your tax dollars to “remind people to vote,” should it be allowed to choose which racial or ethnic groups see the message. We walk through the breaking news out of Harris County as the Texas Attorney General files a lawsuit over alleged racially discriminatory voter outreach ads using Meta targeting tools, and we explain why even the appearance of government-run election engineering can poison trust in the whole system.
From there, we shift to Washington for a clear, practical breakdown of the US Supreme Court declining to pause the Texas DOJ agreement that ends “administrative closure,” a Biden-era rule that let immigration judges suspend certain deportation proceedings. We translate the legal jargon, explain who tried to intervene, and lay out why this fight matters for immigration enforcement, agency authority, and how far courts can go in shaping policy outcomes.
Then we bring it back to Houston: Harris County is smashing midterm early voting records, and we talk about what high turnout does and does not tell you. Charles Blain joins me for the weekly local recap, including Galveston County’s 287G cooperation, ethics and spending questions around county leadership, the broken ankle monitor program, and even the rise of beehive agriculture exemptions that can reshape property tax bills. We also cover a Texas noncitizen voting conviction, an interview with commissioner candidate Richard Vega on flood mitigation funding, and new comptroller orders aimed at tightening how state money is awarded.

00:00:04.799 --> 00:00:11.039
From deep in the heart of Texas, it's Houston's God-loving patriot and the voice of reason.
00:00:11.359 --> 00:00:15.359
This is the Lone Star Conservative, Michael Wilson.
00:00:32.960 --> 00:00:34.560
Welcome back, ladies and gentlemen.
00:00:34.640 --> 00:00:41.759
I'm your host, Michael Wilson, and you're listening to the Lone Star Conservative right here on Patriot Talk 920.
00:00:42.479 --> 00:00:46.960
First of all, it's very good to be with you this fine Friday morning.
00:00:47.200 --> 00:00:52.479
And here we are, the end of another week, and realistically, the end of another month.
00:00:52.719 --> 00:00:55.840
Of course, technically the month doesn't end until tomorrow.
00:00:56.320 --> 00:01:01.200
But, you know, at this point, it's this is the last, this is the last show of the month.
00:01:01.359 --> 00:01:02.399
Actually, that's not even true.
00:01:02.479 --> 00:01:06.239
I am doing a live broadcast tomorrow from 11 to 12, which I want to tease in just a minute.
00:01:06.480 --> 00:01:07.519
So really that's not even true.
00:01:07.599 --> 00:01:13.200
It's not the last show of the month or the last day of the month, but we are right here at the end of the month, regardless.
00:01:13.439 --> 00:01:18.959
So obviously it'll be in November, probably the start of the Monday show, uh, which will be exciting.
00:01:19.120 --> 00:01:21.040
It'll also be it'll be exciting for a couple reasons.
00:01:21.200 --> 00:01:30.319
One, and this is gonna be super controversial, and I am well aware of the controversiality of what I'm about to say.
00:01:30.879 --> 00:01:35.200
Some people are gonna agree with it, some people are gonna agree with it and go, of course, isn't everyone do that?
00:01:35.280 --> 00:01:40.159
And if you've never been outside your little bubble, you might not realize how controversial this is.
00:01:40.799 --> 00:01:46.879
But November 1st is Christmas decorating day in my house.
00:01:47.120 --> 00:01:50.400
In my house, November 1st, that's when it is.
00:01:50.879 --> 00:01:52.879
That's when the Christmas tree goes up.
00:01:53.120 --> 00:01:56.319
That's when that's when the Christmas lights go up.
00:01:56.480 --> 00:02:06.480
That's when all of the little snow globes and snowflakes and any anything Christmas and I got a lot, trust me.
00:02:06.560 --> 00:02:09.680
I got I got candy canes, I got signs.
00:02:09.919 --> 00:02:14.080
I if if it exists, I probably bought it years ago at Hobby Lobby.
00:02:14.159 --> 00:02:19.199
Okay, I got all the decorations, and November 1st is the day.
00:02:19.520 --> 00:02:21.520
And I go to church in the afternoon.
00:02:21.680 --> 00:02:28.719
That's not because I'm some weird denomination, uh, it's just because we we actually rent our church from a different church.
00:02:28.879 --> 00:02:32.960
And so they have church in the morning, and then we are able to do ours in the afternoon.
00:02:33.039 --> 00:02:38.240
Uh so probably that morning and then after church, yeah, I'll be decorating.
00:02:38.319 --> 00:02:40.159
Uh that certainly does not count as work.
00:02:40.319 --> 00:02:42.240
I I'm a hundred percent sure of that.
00:02:42.400 --> 00:02:45.439
So I'm not working on the Lord's Day.
00:02:45.680 --> 00:02:47.919
But regardless, uh, it'll be a good time.
00:02:48.159 --> 00:02:49.919
So we'll that that's coming up.
00:02:50.000 --> 00:02:50.960
I'm very excited about that.
00:02:51.120 --> 00:02:57.759
The other thing that's coming up that I'm very excited about is the cool front, which we'll talk about here at the bottom of the hour.
00:02:58.159 --> 00:03:00.319
Uh that is coming next week.
00:03:00.560 --> 00:03:15.439
And the the more I look at the weather reports and the meteorologists, so on and so forth, um it does become fairly apparent that they're pretty much all in agreement that a cold front is coming.
00:03:15.759 --> 00:03:22.800
The exact timing, how much rain comes with it, all of those things are still a little bit up in the air.
00:03:23.039 --> 00:03:37.520
But what I will say is it you'll certainly, let me put it this way, if you have not yet looked at the cool front itself, uh, you've not heard the reporting on the show, to tease it, I'll tell you, you will certainly notice the difference in temperature.
00:03:37.759 --> 00:03:41.120
But regardless, we do have lots of stories to get into as well.
00:03:41.280 --> 00:03:46.879
Real quickly, because I mentioned the 11 to 12 show tomorrow, I think it's important to tell you what that's about.
00:03:47.120 --> 00:03:53.120
If you are interested, and by the way, even if you're not interested in purchasing, I I will say this is actually pretty cool.
00:03:53.280 --> 00:03:59.759
Um, the Houston Gun College Association, and I've been there a couple times, puts on a really cool show.
00:04:00.000 --> 00:04:09.439
And they have, I mean, if if you want to know anything about history in regards to guns, that is the place to be.
00:04:09.680 --> 00:04:22.720
There are things that you will find in there, and it actually makes me really happy because there are things you will find in there, people you will find in there that can answer questions that you still probably most likely can't find on Google.
00:04:23.040 --> 00:04:27.759
You know, you try to look up ChatGPT, you go, man, you take a picture, you're going, what is this?
00:04:27.839 --> 00:04:29.199
Uh that looks to be this.
00:04:29.360 --> 00:04:30.319
Probably wrong.
00:04:30.480 --> 00:04:38.000
You take it in there, you've got guys that have entire bookshelves dedicated to just one firearm company and it's history.
00:04:38.240 --> 00:04:43.680
And so, you know, it it's it's it's certainly a very cool show.
00:04:43.839 --> 00:04:46.959
Even if you just want to learn about history, it is a cool place to go.
00:04:47.040 --> 00:04:49.120
It's worth getting in and checking it out.
00:04:49.279 --> 00:04:51.199
Plus, Patriot 920 will be there.
00:04:51.360 --> 00:04:56.959
I'll be doing a live broadcast at the Using Gun Clutch Association show tomorrow from 11 to noon.
00:04:57.040 --> 00:04:58.800
Uh, it'll be a really good time.
00:04:59.040 --> 00:05:01.439
But that's going on today, tomorrow and Sunday.
00:05:01.519 --> 00:05:05.519
Uh, today from 12 to 5, tomorrow from 9 to 5, Sunday from 9 to 3.
00:05:05.600 --> 00:05:13.439
Uh, and it's a$15, one-day pass, or if you want to go a couple days, uh, you can get the$20 pass and it'll get you in all three days.
00:05:13.680 --> 00:05:17.759
But that is at the Marriott Houston West Chase, right there in Houston.
00:05:17.839 --> 00:05:21.120
Uh, they also have a$10 raffle coming up, so be aware of all of that.
00:05:21.199 --> 00:05:22.240
We'd love to see you out there.
00:05:22.319 --> 00:05:28.720
Uh again, I'll be there tomorrow doing a live broadcast, but the Patreon and Tony Booth will be out there all weekend, and so we'd love to see you.
00:05:28.959 --> 00:05:33.360
It's a very, very exciting time, and so I'm very, very excited about that as well.
00:05:33.519 --> 00:05:34.959
Uh, we got a text in.
00:05:35.120 --> 00:05:48.399
It says, I do a lot of retail visits in October, and in October, stores place Halloween displays simultaneously with Christmas displays because they know, they know, and watch what they do come November 1st.
00:05:48.639 --> 00:05:50.639
The stores have it right in this case.
00:05:50.800 --> 00:05:55.120
I'm not usually a big mega corporation supporter, but in this case, they're correct.
00:05:55.360 --> 00:05:58.480
Come November 1st, one of two things will happen.
00:05:58.720 --> 00:06:01.680
Either you'll notice the Halloween decorations are just gone.
00:06:01.920 --> 00:06:04.240
In some cases, they don't want to lose all their money.
00:06:04.399 --> 00:06:10.480
Sometimes things don't, you know, I don't want to say they don't last a year, but you know, these days with how they make stuff, they don't.
00:06:10.720 --> 00:06:19.600
Sometimes they'll sell a lot of stuff on huge discounts come November 1st, but for the most part, you'll notice like if you go to Costco, yeah, I mean, it's just Christmas starting.
00:06:19.759 --> 00:06:24.000
Really, it probably already is, but starting especially November 1st, it's just Christmas decor.
00:06:24.319 --> 00:06:25.360
That's what it is.
00:06:25.519 --> 00:06:27.199
Uh, that's because that's what people are doing.
00:06:27.279 --> 00:06:28.079
Come November 1st.
00:06:28.160 --> 00:06:29.439
It's time for Christmas decorating.
00:06:29.600 --> 00:06:32.560
And and and I know, I know the hold off.
00:06:32.800 --> 00:06:34.720
I know what it is, and I'm gonna address it here.
00:06:34.959 --> 00:06:36.720
It's that there's Thanksgiving.
00:06:36.959 --> 00:06:41.360
And Thanksgiving, as I'm well aware, often gets let fall by the wayside.
00:06:41.519 --> 00:06:42.959
People kind of forget about it.
00:06:43.199 --> 00:06:44.399
It's not, you know.
00:06:44.959 --> 00:06:48.800
But that's not that's not a result of Christmas decorating, ladies and gentlemen.
00:06:48.959 --> 00:06:51.120
That's a result of other issues.
00:06:51.439 --> 00:06:59.759
What we do in our home, this is my recommendation, actually, is you decorate for Christmas, November 1st, and then come Thanksgiving, you take a day break.
00:06:59.839 --> 00:07:04.399
You don't have to turn the lights off for Christmas, but you do dedicate that day to Thanksgiving.
00:07:04.639 --> 00:07:10.000
Um, and and of course, we'll do kind of a show on what dedicating that day to Thanksgiving actually looks like.
00:07:10.079 --> 00:07:11.360
We do that every year.
00:07:11.600 --> 00:07:12.959
And we'll go into that.
00:07:13.120 --> 00:07:18.639
But yes, you should absolutely celebrate Thanksgiving, but that does not require that you wait till after Thanksgiving to put up your Christmas decorations.
00:07:18.720 --> 00:07:21.600
I start the Christmas season as early as it's tenable to start.
00:07:21.759 --> 00:07:29.519
And it just so happens that November 1st often falls right around either our first or into the cold front season.
00:07:29.680 --> 00:07:32.240
And so the cold front is coming just a couple days after that.
00:07:32.399 --> 00:07:33.759
Christmas decor will be up.
00:07:34.319 --> 00:07:42.399
And really, it Christmas is and probably always will be my favorite holiday for good reason.
00:07:42.720 --> 00:07:44.480
And it's just so jolly.
00:07:44.639 --> 00:07:45.199
It really is.
00:07:45.279 --> 00:07:46.639
It really is a jolly season.
00:07:46.720 --> 00:07:51.439
And even just putting up the Christmas decorations, the house just feels jollier.
00:07:51.600 --> 00:07:53.040
And so I highly recommend it.
00:07:53.120 --> 00:07:57.120
It's really good for you uh to just have the Christmas stuff up as soon as possible.
00:07:57.279 --> 00:08:01.120
If you do it in October, it's still, you know, so in a lot of cases, it's still warm.
00:08:01.360 --> 00:08:02.720
People are celebrating other stuff.
00:08:02.800 --> 00:08:03.680
It just doesn't, you know.
00:08:03.839 --> 00:08:09.600
But if you start November 1st, you can justify the Christmas music, you can justify the Christmas decorations.
00:08:09.759 --> 00:08:10.879
Highly recommend.
00:08:11.199 --> 00:08:15.199
But I do want to start off a story for our political talk show.
00:08:15.279 --> 00:08:18.160
Uh, and that is what's going on here in Harris County.
00:08:18.319 --> 00:08:24.959
Now you might remember we had Hunter Bernie on from Texas Scorecard on Wednesday.
00:08:25.040 --> 00:08:31.600
Uh, he was talking about um a potentially racially targeted set of advertisements.
00:08:32.159 --> 00:08:52.080
Um and you might remember that we were actually talking with Hunter Bernie about a man, a researcher named Parker Thayer, who was looking into these advertisements on Meta and was finding that they appeared to be, right, at the time, they appeared to be racially targeted.
00:08:52.320 --> 00:09:04.559
Because all of the targeted uh filters they put on, which aren't exclusionary, it just kind of pushes it that way, were uh foreign countries and of foreign things, right?
00:09:04.879 --> 00:09:07.440
Afro, beat, Africa, India.
00:09:07.600 --> 00:09:11.600
They were clearly pushing it towards non-white folks.
00:09:11.919 --> 00:09:13.519
That's what it appeared like.
00:09:13.759 --> 00:09:17.919
And so we got a major update in what's going on there that you're gonna want to hear.
00:09:18.080 --> 00:09:26.000
The office of the attorney general has now filed a lawsuit against the Harris County clerk for running racially discriminatory advertisements.
00:09:26.159 --> 00:09:37.919
The announcement from the Office of Attorney General accuses the clerk's office of using Meta's ad tools to intentionally target its get-out-the-vote style ads to certain racial and ethnic groups while avoiding targeting other demographics.
00:09:38.240 --> 00:09:48.720
Back on Monday, the Harris County's elections department was accused of using Meta's detailed targeting function to target a non-white Spanish-speaking audience in its early voting reminder ads.
00:09:48.879 --> 00:09:55.120
Nonwhite demographics have been shown to consistently affiliate with the Democrat Party over the Republican Party, with the opposite being true, of course, of white demographics.
00:09:55.279 --> 00:09:58.559
You know, white folks typically vote Republicans, just on average, just statistically.
00:09:58.799 --> 00:10:04.720
And so investigative researcher Parker Thayer wrote in a post on X quote, this is an official government office.
00:10:04.960 --> 00:10:10.720
Race shouldn't even be a consideration for them, and definitely not for their remember to vote ads.
00:10:10.879 --> 00:10:17.279
This seems like a clear attempt to try and boost turnout against among the demographic most favorable to people like Talerico.
00:10:17.679 --> 00:10:21.600
And so the Office of Attorney General at least would seem to sort of agree with that assessment.
00:10:21.919 --> 00:10:30.320
According to the Office of Attorney General, they said that by classifying based upon race when advertising to provide Harris County voters with election information, the County Clerk's office exceeded its authority.
00:10:30.480 --> 00:10:38.320
It engaged in racially discriminatory advertising in an attempt to increase voter turnout among particular races and ethnicities, but not others.
00:10:38.559 --> 00:10:49.840
They also noted the Harris County Clerk's office spent an estimated forty-three thousand four hundred and twenty-nine dollars in the past thirty days on one set of advertisements that is set to be shown preferentially to certain populations.
00:10:59.039 --> 00:11:04.559
She said essentially this is a government entity engaging in election engineering, they should target everyone or no one.
00:11:05.120 --> 00:11:11.919
And by the way, before there's any complaints of some sort of discrimination or conflict of interest, I think is the biggest concern.
00:11:12.000 --> 00:11:13.519
Well, Ken Paxton's running against Talarico.
00:11:13.679 --> 00:11:20.720
So if you're saying that this would, you know, get out the vote for Talarico voters, well, Ken Paxton's suing it, of course he is.
00:11:20.879 --> 00:11:25.200
Well, here's the thing: they clarified that because Attorney General Ken Paxton is the current Republican nominee for U.S.
00:11:25.200 --> 00:11:27.120
Senate, he's recused himself from the lawsuit.
00:11:27.279 --> 00:11:30.559
It's his office, but he's not even participating in the lawsuit itself.
00:11:30.799 --> 00:11:51.519
And so the the Attorney General's office announcement reads, quote, this state brings the this ultra virus suit, which is a suit filed against a government official in their official capacity to ensure that all Texans have an equal opportunity to be informed of and participate in the electoral process regardless of race or demographics.
00:11:51.840 --> 00:11:57.919
Now I want to be very clear because the Harris County clerk does not work for the Republican Party.
00:11:58.080 --> 00:11:59.840
They also don't work for the Democrat Party.
00:12:00.000 --> 00:12:06.559
They they don't work for James Salarico or whatever political coalition it has momentum or cultural influence.
00:12:06.879 --> 00:12:11.279
They don't even, you know, they're not even in support of a technical binary system, though that's what we really have.
00:12:11.440 --> 00:12:13.679
They're not even supposed to not support independence.
00:12:13.919 --> 00:12:18.240
And so that office exists to serve every single citizen of Harris County.
00:12:18.480 --> 00:12:29.919
And when you're given public money, when you're entrusted with that, you you you don't get to treat it like your own personal political campaign fund for whatever targeted advertising you particularly want.
00:12:30.080 --> 00:12:32.000
That that's not your job, right?
00:12:32.159 --> 00:12:35.200
And again, this is alleged discriminatory conduct.
00:12:35.279 --> 00:12:38.000
The courts will have to determine whether the law was actually violated.
00:12:38.240 --> 00:12:52.879
But what bothers me about this sort of underlying principle in this particular case is the government has absolutely zero business deciding which racial groups are more deserving of its attention when it comes to exercising their constitutional rights and exercising their privileges to vote.
00:12:53.120 --> 00:12:53.600
Zero.
00:12:53.840 --> 00:12:54.879
Absolutely zero.
00:12:55.279 --> 00:13:00.639
And again, this isn't just about whether you're, you know, black, Spanish, Asian, so on and so forth, or whether you're white.
00:13:00.799 --> 00:13:10.960
The government ought to treat you as a citizen, not some sort of demographic category in someone's political spreadsheet that they want to advertise to, that they say, well, those are the people that we want to get out and vote.
00:13:11.200 --> 00:13:24.399
And again, I find this obsession with the government consistently doing things like this, like when you had the political gerrymandering situation in Texas earlier, and you had the Democrats coming out saying, well, this appears to be racially targeted.
00:13:24.559 --> 00:13:26.240
And we said, Why does it appear that way?
00:13:26.399 --> 00:13:27.679
We've not looked at the races at all.
00:13:27.759 --> 00:13:29.840
We don't even know what the racial demographics are when we made these maps.
00:13:29.919 --> 00:13:32.240
We only made this based on political districts.
00:13:32.480 --> 00:13:43.679
I mean, we've, again, spent decades, decades now having to deal with encroaching DEI, racial inequality, um, and all these sorts of things.
00:13:43.840 --> 00:13:47.840
And then they don't want to apply any sort of standard at all to what they do, right?
00:13:48.559 --> 00:13:54.159
Equality in the law shouldn't apply when it's politically convenient for whatever party it is.
00:13:54.320 --> 00:13:58.559
Um and again, this this is a a very important Christian principle.
00:13:58.720 --> 00:14:08.399
Um and I've gotten into impartiality a little bit before, but you know, when we hear, and this is not just one verse, this is both in the old and new testament.
00:14:08.480 --> 00:14:16.159
You know, you know, you look at it and you say this is a lasting principle even after Christ, you we know that we're not supposed to do injustice in our judgment.
00:14:16.240 --> 00:14:20.960
Uh, we're not supposed to be partial to the poor or to the person of mighty or to the rich.
00:14:21.200 --> 00:14:23.279
And in righteousness, when we judge, that's how we're supposed to judge.
00:14:23.360 --> 00:14:25.440
It's not supposed to be based on any of those other factors.
00:14:25.679 --> 00:14:34.480
It doesn't say show partiality when it achieves some sort of political objective you want, or favor one group because they've been disadvantaged historically, according to your claims at least.
00:14:34.720 --> 00:14:46.159
And it certainly doesn't say that you are supposed to treat one group differently from a civil magistrate perspective, a government perspective, because you want those people to vote.
00:14:46.399 --> 00:14:50.799
Again, the principle is that you're impartial in that sort of justice, in that sort of judgment.
00:14:50.960 --> 00:14:55.919
And so it's not supposed to change depending on who's administering it, who's benefiting from it.
00:14:56.159 --> 00:14:59.840
Those things are sinful examples of partiality.
00:15:00.480 --> 00:15:10.240
We've increasingly accepted the idea that every single institution, and this is now true, uh, is is involved in advancing some political or ideological election, right?
00:15:10.480 --> 00:15:12.639
Some i uh ideological agenda.
00:15:13.519 --> 00:15:18.559
But there are responsibilities that demand a higher level of public trust.
00:15:18.960 --> 00:15:23.039
And administering an election is absolutely one of those things.
00:15:23.200 --> 00:15:33.679
Because if citizens believe that the people that are running their elections are also trying to influence who wins and by extension, who loses those very elections, now you've got an enormous problem.
00:15:33.840 --> 00:15:36.879
Now you've got an incredibly bad situation.
00:15:37.440 --> 00:15:47.840
Because even if nobody changes a single ballot, if even if every vote is counted perfectly, public confidence depends on more than just that sort of mechanical process.
00:15:48.080 --> 00:15:55.600
It's not just were the votes counted fairly, you know, were their ballot drops, were their mules and harvesters and so on and so forth.
00:15:55.679 --> 00:16:04.799
Uh, it actually depends on the belief that the officials that are administering those elections aren't using their offices to favor particular political outcomes.
00:16:04.960 --> 00:16:07.919
That's and that's exactly what this appears to be, right?
00:16:08.240 --> 00:16:17.200
A Republican County Clerk also shouldn't be using, and I would be consistent about this, public money to selectively encourage conservative voter turnout.
00:16:17.360 --> 00:16:17.519
Right?
00:16:17.679 --> 00:16:18.720
I would condemn that behavior.
00:16:18.799 --> 00:16:20.000
I'd say, you you can't do that.
00:16:20.159 --> 00:16:22.720
The same as Southern Democrat does it, I'm not trying to be inconsistent here.
00:16:22.799 --> 00:16:23.840
I would say the same thing.
00:16:24.080 --> 00:16:25.840
Public officials are not above the law.
00:16:26.000 --> 00:16:36.000
They're not entitled to exercise authority however they want to, simply because they would argue their intentions are good and they believe in the principles of whatever political party they happen to be supporting.
00:16:36.159 --> 00:16:40.480
They're entrusted with power and they are then to be held accountable for however they use it.
00:16:40.799 --> 00:16:52.000
And and government is supposed to be an instrument of justice, not this sort of machine that it's become where it's it's all about how can I influence things, how can I have a say in the election, how can I change voter turnout.
00:16:52.399 --> 00:17:06.160
And if the allegations in the lawsuit ultimately are substantiated in the courts, if they if they come out, the courts say, Yeah, this is exactly what happened, and they agree with the Office of International General and they go after the Harris County clerk, then the Harris County officials should be held accountable.
00:17:06.319 --> 00:17:07.599
That that's what should happen.
00:17:07.759 --> 00:17:13.759
Not even because the NeroCrats might have benefited from it, but because they influenced the Democrats to benefit from it.
00:17:14.000 --> 00:17:22.160
Because the government belongs to the people, and the officials of those people have an obligation to administer the law impartially.
00:17:22.240 --> 00:17:25.680
And this is an example of what we would call sinful partiality.
00:17:25.920 --> 00:17:31.680
Now, I want to be very clear, just as a side note, as we wrap up here, not all partiality is sinful.
00:17:31.759 --> 00:17:45.039
Um that's, I think, been another thing that the the left is so is so comically ironic sometimes, because on top of exercising this sort of partiality, which is sinful, then they say, well, any sort of partiality is sinful, right?
00:17:45.119 --> 00:17:52.160
I would argue and say, well, we should be cautious which countries we even allow to participate in immigration.
00:17:52.319 --> 00:17:57.039
That I wouldn't select from Muslim countries and Hindu countries and Buddhist countries.
00:17:57.200 --> 00:18:05.440
I would select from countries that have historically been Christian, uh, that culturally align with our ideals, that ideologically align with us for the most part.
00:18:05.839 --> 00:18:06.960
That would be my standard.
00:18:07.119 --> 00:18:20.000
I'd say, why wouldn't we automatically just select countries for immigration from people that are largely going to and you can't prove that they'll assimilate, but they're far more likely to assimilate.
00:18:20.079 --> 00:18:21.680
That's what a good government would do.
00:18:21.839 --> 00:18:25.440
You would select from people that you think are likely to assimilate into the country.
00:18:25.599 --> 00:18:34.799
When you look at the tenets of Islam and of Hinduism and of Buddhism, they don't ideologically align with the principles of a Christian nation like the United States of America.
00:18:34.960 --> 00:18:36.640
And so you wouldn't select from them.
00:18:36.799 --> 00:18:39.680
Well, that would be partiality, and where are you choosing to get people from?
00:18:39.839 --> 00:18:41.440
That wouldn't be sinful partiality.
00:18:41.519 --> 00:18:42.960
That would be under the rule of government.
00:18:43.200 --> 00:18:47.759
In similar fashion, I'll even break this down further so you can see a very clear-cut example of this.
00:18:47.920 --> 00:18:54.480
Um, and it's one that's been used historically, I think, to to be very clear about this particular situation of partiality.
00:18:55.599 --> 00:19:02.559
For those who are married, do you love your spouse more than you love other people or differently than you love other people?
00:19:02.799 --> 00:19:08.799
And if you're a man, do you love your wife more or differently than you love other women?
00:19:09.039 --> 00:19:15.200
And women that are listening, do you love your husband more or differently than you love other men?
00:19:15.359 --> 00:19:17.279
Well, obviously the answer is yes.
00:19:17.440 --> 00:19:23.519
Well, you are showing a level in that regard of partiality to your husband or to your wife.
00:19:24.319 --> 00:19:25.839
Obviously, that's expected.
00:19:25.920 --> 00:19:31.599
That's a level of discrimination, it's a level of partiality, but it's not sinful partiality because we're called to engage in it.
00:19:31.759 --> 00:19:32.880
It's a good thing.
00:19:33.119 --> 00:19:35.359
And so not all partiality is sinful, right?
00:19:35.519 --> 00:19:38.559
You have a special partiality for your children over the children of others.
00:19:38.720 --> 00:19:47.920
You're supposed to have a good partiality towards your own countrymen when you offer jobs, when you when you offer benefits, right?
00:19:48.000 --> 00:19:52.000
You're supposed to be offering them primarily with taxpayer money to your own people.
00:19:52.640 --> 00:20:03.279
This is why I I've long held that the charities that I want to support are largely ones that do a lot of operations here in the States, because there are a lot of problems here in America that I want fixed.
00:20:03.359 --> 00:20:04.799
And these are the people that I prefer.
00:20:04.880 --> 00:20:05.839
These are my countrymen.
00:20:05.920 --> 00:20:07.680
I I want to see these issues fixed first.
00:20:07.920 --> 00:20:10.559
Once that's done with, I'm happy to help other countries.
00:20:10.640 --> 00:20:15.440
But our first and primary obligation should be to our own people, our own countrymen, our own friends and family.
00:20:16.480 --> 00:20:21.279
God says a man who does not leave an inheritance for his children is worse than an unbeliever.
00:20:21.440 --> 00:20:25.440
So we recognize there are cases of partiality that are acceptable, and there are ones that are not.
00:20:25.599 --> 00:20:38.079
And I hate to say it, but racially targeting groups for the purpose of elections from the local county government is not an example of good partiality.
00:20:38.240 --> 00:20:45.920
It is a very clear example of that sort of sinful partiality, especially when the intent is so obviously to turn out Democrat votes.
00:20:46.000 --> 00:20:46.160
Right?
00:20:46.240 --> 00:20:51.519
They may not have put Democrat in there, but it is painfully obvious that by targeting racial groups, that's what they're doing.
00:20:51.680 --> 00:20:56.720
And I know they can make the argument, well, these people are disadvantaged and they're less likely to vote.
00:20:57.200 --> 00:20:59.680
Okay, that's their that but that's their privilege.
00:20:59.759 --> 00:21:01.279
They get to decide whether or not they want to vote.
00:21:01.440 --> 00:21:08.640
You don't get to particularly target people that don't turn out to vote who just so happen, I mean, they just happen to vote Democrat.
00:21:08.799 --> 00:21:11.519
It's painfully obvious what they're doing.
00:21:11.680 --> 00:21:17.359
And I know these are unsubstantiated allegations as of yet, uh, even though they're now coming from the Office of Attorney General.
00:21:17.519 --> 00:21:19.680
But we'll have to see how it plays out in the courts.
00:21:19.920 --> 00:21:23.200
With that being said, when we get back from the break, the U.S.
00:21:23.359 --> 00:21:34.799
Supreme Court has now declined to pause Texas and Trump's administration's agreement on deportation proceedings, which blocks a binary rule that allowed immigration judges to suspend deportation proceedings.
00:21:34.960 --> 00:21:39.920
We'll talk more about the details of that background and where it goes from here when we get back from the break.

00:26:35.839 --> 00:26:48.880
Supreme Court Justice turned on a request to pause an agreement between Texas and the Department of Justice that removed a Biden-era rule, which would have allowed and continued to allow immigration judges to suspend some deportation proceedings.
00:26:49.119 --> 00:26:54.240
The court turned down the request in a brief, unsigned order with no noted dissents.
00:26:54.799 --> 00:27:06.079
Baltimore, Maryland, New Haven, Connecticut, Columbus, Ohio, and Central Legal de la Raza Legal Services Group for Immigrants, had demanded the emergency pause after other courts declined to halt the order.
00:27:06.240 --> 00:27:08.000
The positive temporarily blocked U.S.
00:27:08.000 --> 00:27:12.000
District Judge Rito Connor's consent judgment that abolished administrative closure.
00:27:12.240 --> 00:27:26.559
The office, the Executive Office for Immigration Review, adopted the administrative closure rule back in 2024 authorizing immigration judges to indefinitely suspend certain deportation proceedings, such as when a crime victim or witness was seeking another form of immigration relief.
00:27:26.960 --> 00:27:34.400
Back in June, Texas argued in federal court that the EOIR does not have the power to adopt the administrative closure rule.
00:27:34.559 --> 00:27:36.799
The Justice Department joined Texas' efforts.
00:27:36.880 --> 00:27:42.960
With both parties in agreement, no one in the case was arguing to keep the rule in place, and so just by nature, the rule fell out.
00:27:43.119 --> 00:27:48.720
Judge O'Connor of the Northern District of Texas found the rule unlawful and entered a consent judgment, vacating it.
00:27:48.799 --> 00:27:54.640
The three cities and Central Legal de la Raza attempted to join the case to appeal the consent judgment.
00:27:54.799 --> 00:27:58.000
However, O'Connor determined that the challengers did not have anything to sue.
00:27:58.079 --> 00:28:03.039
He rejected the city's arguments that eliminating the rule would cost them money because their taxpayers are likely to be deported.
00:28:03.359 --> 00:28:05.680
That that was a wild claim, by the way.
00:28:05.839 --> 00:28:06.480
After the U.S.
00:28:06.559 --> 00:28:13.519
Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit declined to pause the consent judgment, the challengers requested the Supreme Court to pause the order back on October 9th.
00:28:13.759 --> 00:28:18.160
The application went to Justice Samuel Alito, who handles emergency matters from the Fifth Circuit.
00:28:18.400 --> 00:28:22.240
An order submitted just over the past couple days has now denied the request.
00:28:22.400 --> 00:28:28.160
The challenger's appeal remains pending before the Fifth Circuit, but the rule remained vacated while the appeal moves forward.
00:28:28.400 --> 00:28:34.640
In other words, saying that judges don't have the authority to pause deportation proceedings for these particular reasons.
00:28:34.799 --> 00:28:36.000
That's not within their scope.
00:28:36.240 --> 00:28:37.759
Texas knows it's not within their scope.
00:28:37.920 --> 00:28:40.160
The federal government knows it's not within their scope.
00:28:40.960 --> 00:28:43.279
And now everybody else does too.
00:28:43.519 --> 00:28:51.200
That that's the real kind of quintessential version of events here is that we have certain authorities as a state and as a nation.
00:28:51.519 --> 00:28:57.759
And you don't get to have political activists in the roles of judges who come in and tell you, no, we don't want you to do that.
00:28:57.839 --> 00:28:58.319
Don't yeah.
00:28:58.480 --> 00:29:00.079
You can't I know that guy is here illegally.
00:29:00.160 --> 00:29:01.359
I know he's broken the law.
00:29:01.599 --> 00:29:03.200
I know that he's not allowed to stay.
00:29:03.359 --> 00:29:07.200
I know that that violates every standard by which a country can judge anything.
00:29:07.599 --> 00:29:10.079
Uh but we're judges and we get to do that.
00:29:10.240 --> 00:29:19.759
And so judges historically had a lot of authority, especially under the Biden administration, that said, Oh, you know, uh yeah, I guess I guess we can stop them.
00:29:19.920 --> 00:29:23.359
We're gonna stop them from these sort of these specific deportation proceedings.
00:29:23.519 --> 00:29:25.759
Uh and it's just it's just heinous what was happening.
00:29:25.920 --> 00:29:26.559
We all know that.
00:29:26.640 --> 00:29:27.359
We're all aware of it.
00:29:27.440 --> 00:29:32.559
And so it was exciting when both the Trump administration's DOJ and the Texas reached this sort of agreement.
00:29:32.960 --> 00:29:37.920
And now it seems like yet again you have the court saying, We're we're not gonna we're not gonna pause it.
00:29:38.000 --> 00:29:39.599
There's not gonna be an injunction here.
00:29:39.759 --> 00:29:42.960
Let it play out in the courts, we'll see how the appeal actually goes.
00:29:43.039 --> 00:29:45.359
But no, we're not giving you some sort of emergency pause.
00:29:45.440 --> 00:29:46.319
It's not worth that.
00:29:46.559 --> 00:29:48.640
For now, Texas and the DOJ have agreed.
00:29:48.720 --> 00:29:57.119
This is how it's gonna go until the court determines that for whatever reason it seems to be in violation of federal law, state law, you know, in in violation of the the U.S.
00:29:57.200 --> 00:29:59.119
Constitution, which by the way, none of this is.
00:29:59.200 --> 00:30:01.440
It's up to the federal government to do that.
00:30:01.680 --> 00:30:08.160
And so we'll see, we'll see kind of where it goes from there when it actually moves through the full Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.
00:30:08.319 --> 00:30:15.680
Knowing the Fifth Circuit, I'm gonna go out on a limb and just guess that more than likely they're not gonna rule in favor of these Lib cities.
00:30:15.839 --> 00:30:18.799
Um, but nevertheless, we do have a couple texts in uh that we got.
00:30:18.960 --> 00:30:25.920
One says Harris County election clerk Tanisha Hudsmith was voted on to a Democrat election group board earlier this year.
00:30:26.000 --> 00:30:27.680
I'll have to search back to find the reference.
00:30:27.920 --> 00:30:30.880
There is no such thing as non-partisanship.
00:30:30.960 --> 00:30:32.400
And I've said that for a long time.
00:30:32.559 --> 00:30:46.319
You know, there's races they say are nonpartisan, but you can look at the history of how people have voted and what they voted in and what they've been appointed to and elected to and who they're endorsed by, and you can get a pretty good idea of what they actually believe.
00:30:46.559 --> 00:30:51.440
And regardless of what position they're in, those beliefs are going to spill out.
00:30:51.759 --> 00:30:53.440
That's just the way that humans are.
00:30:53.599 --> 00:30:55.359
I I hate to say it, but it is impossible.
00:30:55.440 --> 00:30:59.680
It's why whenever I hear somebody say unbiased, I don't even like that word really.
00:30:59.759 --> 00:31:02.160
I I like im you know impartiality.
00:31:02.480 --> 00:31:06.640
But the the term of non-bias is literally impossible.
00:31:07.359 --> 00:31:12.000
In order to be truly non-biased, you would have to have no beliefs.
00:31:12.480 --> 00:31:25.680
Because humans, the way that we are, when you have a belief, that belief influences the things the everything else that you think, everything else that you operate under, all the ways that you function, all of those things are a result of your beliefs.
00:31:25.920 --> 00:31:27.599
And so you're you're exactly correct.
00:31:27.680 --> 00:31:29.759
There's no really such thing as nonpartisanship.
00:31:29.839 --> 00:31:33.519
It's actually not possible to have that truly, even in nonpartisan races.
00:31:33.680 --> 00:31:38.319
Hence why, if you've not already voted, first of all, today is the day, go vote today.
00:31:38.480 --> 00:31:43.680
Today is the last day of early voting before you get to the actual election day on November the 3rd.
00:31:43.920 --> 00:31:45.759
So if you've not already voted, make sure you vote.
00:31:45.839 --> 00:31:50.240
But vote all the way down the ballot for Republicans, and that includes the races that say nonpartisan.
00:31:50.400 --> 00:31:56.960
Do your research beforehand because I promise you, probably one of them has Republican endorsement, one of them probably has a Democrat endorsement, and there's reasons for that.
00:31:57.039 --> 00:32:00.079
Uh, and vote for the Republican candidate in a nonpartisan race.
00:32:00.240 --> 00:32:02.079
We also got another text in.
00:32:02.240 --> 00:32:13.119
It says, Dem Commissioner's court Rodney Ellis just sent me a slick brochure at taxpayer expense pointing citizens to go vote to the to go to the Harris votes and get to the polls.
00:32:13.359 --> 00:32:19.599
Yeah, and and and again, it's not that I have an issue with get out the vote reminders, but again, how are our taxpayer dollars being spent?
00:32:19.759 --> 00:32:22.319
Are they worthy uses of those taxpayer dollars?
00:32:22.480 --> 00:32:24.160
Are they allowed use of those taxpayer dollars?
00:32:24.240 --> 00:32:28.640
And a good example of this to kind of contrast that a little bit is Leslie Brionis.
00:32:28.799 --> 00:32:29.839
What's going on there?
00:32:30.000 --> 00:32:35.440
Well, there's the tax uh Texas Ethics Commission complaint and investigation currently ongoing.
00:32:35.519 --> 00:32:50.559
Um that'll be rectified sometime in, I believe, uh early December is when they have their scheduled meeting to actually have her up there and to go over all the claims against her and all of the evidence uh and all the stuff that the investigations produce to see if she needs to be held accountable for them.
00:32:50.720 --> 00:33:02.799
But again, she's spending millions of dollars, I mean unbelievable amounts of money on what appear to be political advertisements under the guise of, no, no, no, no, I'm just I'm just informing the taxpayers.
00:33:02.960 --> 00:33:08.079
No, no, no, I'm using this because the taxpayers need to know our projects and how we're doing and we're keeping them informed and updated.
00:33:08.240 --> 00:33:15.759
We actually had Barbara Denson who filed that campaign on the show last year or last week, pardon me, and last year was the f there was no complaint yet.
00:33:16.000 --> 00:33:26.799
Last week, who was highlighting exactly these sorts of problems where you're spending taxpayer money on things that have no use being taxpayer funded, and they appear to be targeted at people to to vote for particular candidates.
00:33:26.960 --> 00:33:35.039
It's it's exactly the same problem, just done differently as what's going on in Harris County with the clerk's office right now in their their lawsuit from the Office of Attorney General.
00:33:35.200 --> 00:33:36.880
Same thing that may be going on with Rodney Ellis.
00:33:36.960 --> 00:33:38.160
I've not seen enough of that case.
00:33:38.319 --> 00:33:50.319
Uh, but again, this is what you expect from these sorts of government entities, these sorts of individuals who are so incredibly biased that they're at at that point, they're just clearly violating the law.
00:33:50.640 --> 00:33:55.680
And so we'll keep you guys updated on all those stories as they come out and as details can continue to get filed.
00:33:55.839 --> 00:34:05.279
But uh when we get back from the break, we're actually gonna jump over to Harris County just to talk about our early voting records, because we've now broken early voting records for a midterm election.
00:34:05.359 --> 00:34:07.200
We knew that actually on day one.
00:34:07.279 --> 00:34:11.440
We already knew we'd broken early voting records for day one of a midterm.
00:34:11.840 --> 00:34:15.440
But we've gotten more updates uh since that point.
00:34:15.679 --> 00:34:19.119
And I'll I'll let you guys know what it is when we get back from the break.
00:34:19.280 --> 00:34:27.840
If you as well would like to text in, if you have any thoughts, whether it's on the county clerk or it's on these racial targeted ads, or it's on James Dallarico, uh, or it's on what's going on from the U.S.
00:34:27.920 --> 00:34:39.199
Supreme Court, whatever it may be, you are always welcome to text in with your thoughts, your questions, your concerns, your disagreements, or things that you want to hear more about here on the show, especially on Fridays, uh, because the show's a lot more open-ended.
00:34:39.280 --> 00:34:45.199
I have plenty of stories to go over, but it's a lot more open for people to text in and to make sure that we actually address those things.
00:34:45.440 --> 00:34:51.920
If you would like to text in, the number, as always, is 713-779-5978.

00:39:21.519 --> 00:39:30.880
We have a text and it says, Um, I would like to look at the story about the University of Houston Student Government Association hosting Democratic candidates on a get out the vote.
00:39:31.039 --> 00:39:42.239
And I I'll go ahead and address it very quickly here, but if you want more details on that story, uh if you look up the Lone Star Conservative podcast, it's on Spotify, Apple, wherever you get your podcast, you can go check it out.
00:39:42.480 --> 00:39:44.880
Yesterday's show uploaded as a podcast.
00:39:45.039 --> 00:39:46.000
I actually addressed it.
00:39:46.079 --> 00:39:51.199
We had Jonathan Sines on for the first part of the podcast, and then I went into what was going on at U of H.
00:39:51.440 --> 00:40:00.639
So if you'd like to see more details about what went on at U of H, uh they hosted Gina Hina Hosa, they hosted Bernie Sanders, uh it was absolutely bizarre.
00:40:00.800 --> 00:40:01.760
And we went over that.
00:40:01.840 --> 00:40:03.679
They uh we went over their apology.
00:40:04.079 --> 00:40:06.000
It was the U of H Student Government Association.
00:40:06.079 --> 00:40:10.800
They went over their, their, their, you know, they said, Oh, we've taken corrective action, we went over the lack of transparency there.
00:40:10.880 --> 00:40:12.159
Um there's a lot of details about that.
00:40:12.239 --> 00:40:15.280
But sum it up to say that yes, it was absolutely awful.
00:40:15.440 --> 00:40:18.159
Their quote-unquote corrective action totally lacks transparency.
00:40:18.320 --> 00:40:20.239
There's no real accountability at all.
00:40:20.480 --> 00:40:29.920
And another thing that they've done has has helped the damage they've potentially done, which is incentivizing students to go vote for Democrat candidates.
00:40:30.159 --> 00:40:31.679
That's obviously been a partisan issue.
00:40:31.760 --> 00:40:45.760
And I I said there may need to be some sort of state investigation into that misbehavior because, again, it's caused, could cause catastrophic election results, especially when a lot of these elections end up being so close here at the county level to incentivize young voters to get out for Democrat candidates.
00:40:45.920 --> 00:40:50.159
Uh but again, you can go check out yesterday's show on the Lone Star Conservative.
00:40:50.400 --> 00:40:55.840
I think it's at the top right now, and uh I did a full, I did a full segment on that particular story.
00:40:55.920 --> 00:40:58.400
But I appreciate the text in regardless.
00:40:58.480 --> 00:41:01.360
Uh we also get another text in it says 9 20 a.m.
00:41:01.599 --> 00:41:02.559
preaches to the choir.
00:41:02.719 --> 00:41:06.719
How can the live app be pushed out to get more listeners since listening on terrestrial AM radio is spotty?
00:41:06.880 --> 00:41:13.679
I thought about City Democrats and Independent Registered Voters, an SMS message simply saying they talked about you today on 920 a.m., including a link to listen live.
00:41:13.840 --> 00:41:15.199
It's a very funny idea.
00:41:15.440 --> 00:41:20.639
And yeah, I I I do think um that for the most part, our lineup is is I don't want to say it's moderate.
00:41:20.719 --> 00:41:21.920
It's not at all.
00:41:22.079 --> 00:41:23.840
Uh it's very conservative.
00:41:24.400 --> 00:41:31.679
But one thing that I do appreciate a lot of our hosts, uh, and I hope to include myself in that, is that we're not like vicious against Democrats.
00:41:31.920 --> 00:41:37.119
That yes, I'm vicious against the politicians, I'm vicious against liars and against hypocrites.
00:41:37.199 --> 00:41:42.079
Um, but I think for the most part, I've done my darndest to communicate in a way that is clear and effective and loving.
00:41:42.320 --> 00:41:43.679
And that I say, hey, here's why.
00:41:43.840 --> 00:41:48.639
I don't just say, oh man, I start calling names and throwing names out and being rude.
00:41:48.800 --> 00:41:54.639
I do my best to present this fairly and in a matter of love, uh, but to to present the truth.
00:41:54.800 --> 00:41:57.920
And so I do think that there could there could be independence, especially.
00:41:58.159 --> 00:42:07.519
Democrats, they don't want to hear anything they disagree with, but independents especially, I think there's a lot of opportunity for them to hear these sorts of things because maybe they might draw different conclusions than they would have drawn without it.
00:42:07.679 --> 00:42:09.519
Um I I hope to provide that.
00:42:10.159 --> 00:42:12.480
Uh again, appreciate all the text in from everybody.
00:42:12.639 --> 00:42:13.519
We really appreciate them.
00:42:13.599 --> 00:42:14.800
Now, I really quickly want to get to this.
00:42:14.880 --> 00:42:18.400
Harris County has set a new record for early voting in a midterm election.
00:42:18.480 --> 00:42:22.800
And they're still today, to push that number even higher, with closed battles for those of the U.S.
00:42:22.800 --> 00:42:29.280
Senate and the Governor's House, more than 862,000 people had voted before the polls opened yesterday morning.
00:42:29.440 --> 00:42:37.920
The previous record for a non-presidential election was 2018, when 855,711 people cast ballots during the entire early voting period.
00:42:38.079 --> 00:42:42.400
And so Harris County Clerk Tanisha Hudsm said Harris County voters are making history.
00:42:42.719 --> 00:43:00.559
Uh, she predicted that one million voters will have cast a ballot in the time uh by the time that early voting ends today, which would put the county just short of the nearly 1.2 million people who voted in the 2024 presidential election, races that typically draw far more voters than in midterm elections, usually by several hundred thousand.
00:43:00.719 --> 00:43:08.960
The original Meg Weekly Community Center in Cyprus has become the most popular voting location in the region with more than twenty-nine thousand ballots cast through the first ten days of voting.
00:43:09.199 --> 00:43:14.639
The Metropolitan Multiservice Center is the second busiest vote center with just over 28,000 ballots cast so far.
00:43:15.119 --> 00:43:18.239
And so, again, turnout's not an indicator of which candidate will win.
00:43:18.400 --> 00:43:23.360
There's no way for us to know uh how votes, how voters are sort of casting their ballots.
00:43:23.519 --> 00:43:34.239
I mean, you can look and they've had released some data as to how did the people vote in the primary, how they voted in other elections, where do they typically, so on and so forth, how do they typically register?
00:43:34.400 --> 00:43:36.719
So all all of these sorts of things we don't have.
00:43:36.880 --> 00:43:40.320
Party registration here, you can get a pretty good idea, pretty good general feel.
00:43:40.559 --> 00:43:46.079
And the data so far still in that with the data we have puts it fairly neck and neck.
00:43:46.239 --> 00:43:47.760
And so we just don't know.
00:43:47.920 --> 00:43:50.559
We're not gonna know until we start counting ballots on election day.
00:43:50.639 --> 00:43:54.800
And so if you've not already voted, don't think that it's too late or it doesn't matter.
00:43:55.039 --> 00:43:57.519
Things appear very close across the board.
00:43:57.760 --> 00:44:09.840
Your vote actually does matter, and the votes that Those you might be able to take with you, friends, family members, people in your neighborhood that you're friends with, taking those people with you, getting them to vote, can have genuine impacts on the outcome of these elections.
00:44:09.920 --> 00:44:12.719
And so we'd greatly encourage you to do that if you've not done so already.
00:44:12.960 --> 00:44:18.800
With that being said, when we get back from the break, we're going to wrap up the first hour of the show with our weather report.

We talk to a lot of people who will literally come up and say, I hate shopping for Medicare plans so much.
00:45:42.639 --> 00:45:44.239
And I'll say, What happened?
00:45:44.400 --> 00:45:47.760
And they'll say, My gosh, my phone won't stop ringing.
00:45:47.920 --> 00:45:49.920
I've got people showing up at my door.
00:45:50.079 --> 00:45:51.920
My mailbox is full of garbage.
00:45:52.159 --> 00:45:53.440
It's just so unpleasant.
00:45:53.599 --> 00:45:55.519
And I'm like, I get it, and I'm sorry.
00:45:55.840 --> 00:45:56.639
But you know what?
00:45:56.800 --> 00:46:01.840
Don't let that keep you for demanding the best out of the plans that you have.
00:46:02.159 --> 00:46:03.440
These are available to you.
00:46:03.599 --> 00:46:04.719
You earned these.
00:46:05.199 --> 00:46:15.440
So do not allow those practices to discourage you from reaching out to somebody who can help you understand what your options are and change each year when it's appropriate to do so.
00:46:15.599 --> 00:46:17.840
Did you know that these plans they change kind of a lot?
00:46:18.000 --> 00:46:24.639
So if you've been in a plan for a long time, there's a good chance that thing has degraded a lot since you put it in place.
00:46:24.719 --> 00:46:33.280
Not a guarantee, but you got to get it reviewed so you know because you deserve to be in a plan that is on the cutting edge of whatever your needs happen to be.

Hi, this is Harold Guy.
00:48:03.679 --> 00:48:04.800

00:48:18.159 --> 00:48:22.800
Texas Outdoor News is brought to you by Ford Trucks and your best in Texas Ford dealers.
00:48:22.960 --> 00:48:26.719
The state's number one outdoor radio show, Texas Outdoor News.
00:48:26.800 --> 00:48:30.880
Saturday mornings the 6th on Patriot Talk 920.
00:49:22.159 --> 00:49:26.159
And so, and that's assuming very, very low success, which you might have higher.
00:49:26.400 --> 00:49:28.719
And so, yes, there are certainly ways you can get involved.
00:49:28.800 --> 00:49:30.480
We appreciate the work that our listeners are doing.
00:49:30.719 --> 00:49:34.719
We get texts like this all the time that we have listeners who are doing things, who are out in the community.
00:49:34.800 --> 00:49:37.920
That's what we've always tried to build here on Patriot Talk 920.
00:49:38.000 --> 00:49:38.960
It was always our goal coming in.
00:49:39.039 --> 00:49:39.599
We don't want to expand.
00:49:39.679 --> 00:49:41.519
We're not looking to go to other cities and other states.
00:49:41.679 --> 00:49:43.360
We always wanted to be here for Houston.
00:49:43.519 --> 00:49:50.800
That's why we were here on the show report on local news, statewide news, keep you guys informed on everything going on around Houston, the greater Houston area, and of course across the state of Texas.
00:49:51.519 --> 00:49:52.480
Let's get into our weather report.
00:49:52.559 --> 00:49:53.679
We appreciate your text in.
00:49:53.840 --> 00:50:02.000
The good news is that much of Texas is seeing rain today as some of the moisture from tropical storm, ex-Hurricane Vance moves into west and central Texas.
00:50:02.239 --> 00:50:05.440
The bad news is that we here in Houston are not seeing a ton of rain.
00:50:05.840 --> 00:50:06.880
We will have our chances.
00:50:07.039 --> 00:50:12.800
Look for the potential for some of this rain to try to reform over the Houston area late today, probably after about five o'clock or so.
00:50:12.880 --> 00:50:18.159
Uh we could have a few hours of moderate rain this evening before things gradually subside later overnight.
00:50:18.320 --> 00:50:24.320
Um again, I don't think the entire area is gonna see rain this evening, but there is a chance that a chunk of the area does, especially south of Houston.
00:50:24.559 --> 00:50:27.760
So keep that in mind uh for tomorrow.
00:50:28.000 --> 00:50:29.039
This is the big question.
00:50:29.119 --> 00:50:30.960
Uh there is a ton of stuff happening this weekend.
00:50:31.119 --> 00:50:33.039
Not the least of which, of course, is Halloween.
00:50:33.199 --> 00:50:36.480
Uh but the daytime crowd, we do still expect scattered showers.
00:50:36.559 --> 00:50:40.159
Um perhaps just a third of the area is gonna see passing downpours throughout the day.
00:50:40.320 --> 00:50:43.840
The best chances for rain tomorrow will be in the very early morning, and again, after 3 to 4 p.m.
00:50:44.159 --> 00:50:48.480
means in some neighborhoods, you know, trigger-treating might be a sort of game time decision.
00:50:48.559 --> 00:50:50.559
You kind of wait, kind of keep an eye on the sky.
00:50:50.880 --> 00:50:55.360
Um the rain should end, hopefully just offer up a bit of a delay, but do be aware of the conditions before you head out.
00:50:56.079 --> 00:50:59.039
Um these are not expected to be overly crazy scattered downpours.
00:50:59.199 --> 00:51:02.800
There is still the potential for some lightning, so just just be aware of that.
00:51:02.960 --> 00:51:05.360
Um for Sunday, conditions should markedly improve.
00:51:05.440 --> 00:51:07.920
We'll still have some cloud cover around, but we should see at least some sun.
00:51:08.079 --> 00:51:11.760
Highs will depend on that sun, a lot of it, and we do mid-80s, only a little bit of it.
00:51:11.840 --> 00:51:13.920
We do upper 70s to around 80 degrees.
00:51:14.079 --> 00:51:19.199
Uh similar to Sunday is Monday, should be a little bit more humid, whereas dew points will be in the 60s on Sunday.
00:51:19.280 --> 00:51:21.599
We may see them rise up into the 70s by Monday.
00:51:21.840 --> 00:51:24.320
This will be out ahead of a developing storm system to our west.
00:51:24.480 --> 00:51:29.920
Winds begin to pick up off the Gulf of America Monday night with gusts up to 20 miles per hour or so.
00:51:30.079 --> 00:51:34.960
There's a developing storm on Tuesday going to drag a front into the Houston area, either in the morning or early afternoon.
00:51:35.119 --> 00:51:36.400
With it will be a line of thunderstorms.
00:51:36.480 --> 00:51:43.199
Again, I don't want to overpromise and you know get you built up, but it does seem like we'll get a burst of locally heavy rain as that front passes through.
00:51:43.840 --> 00:51:47.360
We'll probably be back in the 70s Tuesday morning, creeping up to the 80s again.
00:51:47.440 --> 00:51:52.320
But behind the front, we'll fall into the 60s and possibly into the 50s by Wednesday morning.
00:51:52.480 --> 00:51:55.119
And it looks like a calmer rest of the week after that.
00:51:55.280 --> 00:52:00.079
High pressure will build back, uh temperatures in the 70s and 50s by night.
00:52:00.159 --> 00:52:02.400
And so that should be absolutely beautiful.
00:52:02.639 --> 00:52:05.840
With that being said, we'll have Charles Blaine coming on for the weekly local recap.
00:52:05.920 --> 00:52:08.719
We do every Friday at the second hour, at the top of the second hour when we get back from the break.
00:52:08.800 --> 00:52:11.679
Text in 713-779-5978.
00:52:11.760 --> 00:52:12.719
I'm your host, Michael Wilson.
00:52:12.800 --> 00:52:15.760
I'll be right back with Charles Blaine at the top of the next hour.
00:52:15.920 --> 00:52:17.280
Don't go anywhere.
00:52:28.159 --> 00:52:34.480
From deep in the heart of Texas, it's Houston's God-loving patriot and the voice of reason.
00:52:34.719 --> 00:52:38.719
This is the Lone Star Conservative, Michael Wilson.
00:52:54.800 --> 00:52:56.320
Welcome back, ladies and gentlemen.
00:52:56.400 --> 00:53:01.360
I'm your host, Michael Wilson, and you're listening to the Lone Star Conservative here on Patriot 920.
00:53:01.519 --> 00:53:05.440
Joining me now is our very good friend, Charles Blaine, coming on.
00:53:05.519 --> 00:53:11.679
I always want to say from Urban Reform from localinsights.ai coming on for the weekly local recap.
00:53:11.760 --> 00:53:13.039
Welcome to the show, Charles.
00:53:13.440 --> 00:53:14.239
Thank you for having me.
00:53:14.400 --> 00:53:17.039
Don't feel bad because I feel saying urban reform every time I talk about it.
00:53:17.920 --> 00:53:20.480
I don't know why it is, but your name feels like an urban reform kind of name.
00:53:20.559 --> 00:53:21.039
You know what I'm saying?
00:53:21.119 --> 00:53:25.119
Like you say Charles Blaine, it feels like urban reform is just the title, like a Sir Charles.
00:53:25.599 --> 00:53:27.760
I might just need to change it again, change it back to that.
00:53:27.920 --> 00:53:30.320
I mean, it did it's like kind of associated with me at this point.
00:53:30.400 --> 00:53:31.199
So yeah, I agree.
00:53:31.360 --> 00:53:35.119
Yeah, like it's still local insights.ai, but it's it's called urban reform.
00:53:35.280 --> 00:53:36.800
We're gonna go back to the name.
00:53:38.159 --> 00:53:39.119
We'll get it back.
00:53:39.280 --> 00:53:40.320
Um, lots going on.
00:53:40.480 --> 00:53:42.639
First of all, Halloween is tomorrow.
00:53:42.800 --> 00:53:47.119
Um, and of course, early voting ends today, and election day is November 3rd.
00:53:47.199 --> 00:53:52.559
And quintessentially, with election day, we also have an upcoming cool front, which I'm sure we'll all be very excited about.
00:53:52.719 --> 00:53:56.639
It's gonna bring our highs down into the 70s and our lows back down into the 50s again.
00:53:56.880 --> 00:53:59.760
So that'll all be happening with the next week.
00:53:59.920 --> 00:54:04.719
The only way I can get any better is if they also announced that James Taller Rico did not win when we get that cool front.
00:54:04.960 --> 00:54:10.000
That's because I mean I mean, I guess if you get a you can win some, you lose some and get a cool front in James Taller Rico.
00:54:10.159 --> 00:54:12.079
It is what it is, but man, goodness gracious.
00:54:12.239 --> 00:54:26.000
Now, speaking of, I want to first talk about what's going on down in Galvison County to kind of contrast this because we talked before about what's going on in Houston, how they almost lost hundreds of millions of dollars in grant funding because they were like, we hate ICE all of a sudden, and all that all that stuff.
00:54:26.159 --> 00:54:32.000
Um, I want to contrast that because Galveston County is not only cooperating, but I think they've taken it a step further.
00:54:32.159 --> 00:54:35.519
Can you walk us through some of the new updates coming out of Galveston County Commissioner's court?
00:54:35.920 --> 00:54:48.000
Yeah, so whereas Harris County is kind of backing away from even uttering the words ICE or trying to uh, you know, uh have any sort of association with them, Galveston County is doing the complete opposite, which I think you hope your county officials do.
00:54:48.079 --> 00:54:50.239
Um and so they have a couple different things.
00:54:50.400 --> 00:55:09.280
It's a three and a half million dollar, which I guess you call it investment into this partnership with IES 2.3 for the sheriff,$50,000 for different constables precinct, and the federal money that they're getting is going to support the 287G program, which is the thing that has kind of been always at the crux of Harris County's issue, where they didn't want to be a good thing.
00:55:09.440 --> 00:55:10.400
Yeah, I know absolutely.
00:55:10.559 --> 00:55:31.920
And here's the thing that I want to remind everybody of uh that I think needs to be absolutely clear, and that is that when you look at Gavison County, first of all, they obviously are I don't want to say red, but compared to Harris County and what's going on in Houston, um, it is painfully obvious how different those counties are uh when it comes to at least bare minimum the leadership, right?
00:55:32.000 --> 00:55:42.480
Because obviously uh there are some people in in Houston that are more conservative, and same in Gowson County, but when you look at the leadership, it's it's painfully obvious that Gavison County has a significantly more conservative leadership.
00:55:42.719 --> 00:55:56.239
And so I just want to make it painfully obvious to everybody that's listening when you look at what's going on in Gavison County, this is an example of how you can actively benefit, you know, your your county by doing these sorts of programs.
00:55:56.400 --> 00:55:58.400
Because again, Charles, this is federal funding, right?
00:55:59.119 --> 00:56:00.559
Yeah, this is federal funding.
00:56:00.639 --> 00:56:06.880
Um, this is coming from that through that 287G contract that they have that makes cities eligible for this federal funding.
00:56:07.039 --> 00:56:08.320
And so it's really great to see.
00:56:08.400 --> 00:56:18.800
I mean, it's it's like I said, night and day, but um, if you look at what happens in Harris County and even in Houston with the Alejandro Salinas Orients a couple months ago and what's happening in Galveston, they should be very proud of their local government.
00:56:19.039 --> 00:56:19.840
Absolutely.
00:56:20.000 --> 00:56:25.039
Um now, speaking of being proud of your local county government, um, what if we're not, right?
00:56:25.199 --> 00:56:28.559
What if we turn to Harris County and we talk about one in particular?
00:56:28.719 --> 00:56:31.440
What if we talk about, I don't know, Leslie Brionis?
00:56:33.679 --> 00:56:34.159
What's going on?
00:56:34.880 --> 00:56:49.920
We've gotten updates because Barbara Denson, who you know, uh came on the show last week because uh Leslie Brionis was being accused by her uh of violating Texas Texas ethics law uh and to the point where the Texas Ethics Commission actually did pick that up and it's gonna have a trial for it.
00:56:50.079 --> 00:56:57.440
Um and so that was already going on because of potentially sending out mailers that look like political ads as opposed to what a taxpayer dollar is supposed to be spent on.
00:56:57.599 --> 00:56:58.800
What's going on now?
00:56:59.599 --> 00:57:05.440
Yeah, so Leslie Brionis, um, and that's still you know kind of going to be going on for a while because there's more information to be had about that.
00:57:05.599 --> 00:57:13.280
But there's this I'm calling it kind of like a bribe package, if you will, but there's this um big package for infrastructure project.
00:57:13.360 --> 00:57:21.760
And uh it wouldn't seem kind of suspicious otherwise, but this entire election season she's been getting hit on the fact that she did not spend a lot of money on roads and bridges and things like that.
00:57:21.920 --> 00:57:28.320
And so here she is a week before the election, bringing forth this$80 million package,$15 million is coming from her office.
00:57:28.480 --> 00:57:36.320
The other$2-ish is coming from uh private companies that she's encouraged to donate to this and to uh and to spend money on these infrastructure projects.
00:57:36.400 --> 00:57:44.960
But these are same county contractors who also donate to her campaign, and it's just kind of like a big cycle ultimately to encourage people to vote for her so everybody can stay paid.
00:57:45.199 --> 00:57:45.360
Right.
00:57:45.440 --> 00:57:48.239
And it it seems, look, I get it, right?
00:57:48.320 --> 00:57:55.199
It's tough when you talk about ethics violations because a lot of this, arguably, it shouldn't, but it does in many cases come down to intent.
00:57:55.360 --> 00:58:07.119
And so that's how that's why we have it fully outlawed, you know, that potential contractors can donate to campaigns, because, well, is that really a conflict of interest, or do you have enough integrity that they just happen to be the same big companies that also want to get involved politically?
00:58:07.199 --> 00:58:08.320
Uh, and they're allowed to do that.
00:58:08.400 --> 00:58:09.840
And so there's those big questions.
00:58:10.079 --> 00:58:19.119
This seems like one of those cases where I get it, it's a case-by-case basis, but somebody needs to, somebody in authority position needs to look at how painfully clear this is.
00:58:19.199 --> 00:58:25.199
Um, because this feels uh, I think wrong is maybe the best way to sum it up.
00:58:25.519 --> 00:58:27.199
I mean, yeah, there's no other way to put it.
00:58:27.280 --> 00:58:44.079
And you know, this is one of the things that's always been a critic uh criticism of county government as a whole, is that you have all these contractors who kind of sit around waiting for different things like this, whether it's an election or even like a birthday fundraiser so that they can kind of pump money in and then get returns on it when they come in for these infrastructure projects.
00:58:44.159 --> 00:58:48.000
And if you look at the campaign finances, they're largely the ones who are funding the campaigns.
00:58:48.159 --> 00:58:54.559
Um and I think there's an argument on both sides of this, but yeah, this is definitely one of those things that people should be paying attention to.
00:58:54.800 --> 00:58:55.119
Absolutely.
00:58:55.199 --> 00:59:04.159
Now, I also want to get into what's going on here in Harris County being sued for, I don't want to call it electioneering, but that's that's not my words.
00:59:04.239 --> 00:59:09.119
That's uh Christy Wellbourne, president of Advancing Integrity, who said that this looked like election engineering.
00:59:09.360 --> 00:59:17.440
Can you walk us through what's going on with Harris County right now when it comes to the way they're pitching out election ads, get out the vote ads?
00:59:18.159 --> 00:59:33.679
Yeah, so uh Harris County was found targeting specific groups, and I guess you could say leaving out other groups when they were putting out the information and then paying for Facebook ads and other social media ads to target people so that they know where to vote, when to vote, and all that kind of stuff.
00:59:33.840 --> 00:59:46.400
And so the the lawsuits from the AG's office against Clark Station Hutspith and her communications director, um, and it's saying that they're using taxpayer funds to fund Facebook, Instagram, voter information ads that are deliberately by race or ethnicity.
00:59:46.480 --> 00:59:56.559
And a lot of them are when you look at kind of the breakdown, and then you and I were talking about some before, they really are like directly targeting uh particularly black and I think to a lesser extent Hispanic, but largely black people.
00:59:56.800 --> 01:00:07.920
And uh the state cites an estimated$43,000 over 30 days spent doing this, and uh they're suing over it and hoping to stop it and saying it's uh Tanisha's saying it's lawful and not partisan.
01:00:08.000 --> 01:00:08.960
Um so we'll see.
01:00:09.039 --> 01:00:10.159
They deactivated it though.
01:00:10.239 --> 01:00:14.079
So if it was lawful and not partisan, I would fight and I'd say I'm gonna keep it up.
01:00:14.159 --> 01:00:17.039
You know, deactivating is kind of an admission here, so we'll see.
01:00:18.159 --> 01:00:20.880
In the court of public opinion alone, that's always a bad idea.
01:00:21.039 --> 01:00:28.480
Um, it's why I I applauded Bo French because he was having comments about how UC has a lot of Indian immigrants, and this is an example of how bad it's gotten.
01:00:28.639 --> 01:00:31.760
And John Cornyn called him out, everybody called him out, and he refused.
01:00:31.840 --> 01:00:33.280
Like, I'm not gonna delete my post because I believe it.
01:00:33.360 --> 01:00:34.320
I'm not gonna apologize for this.
01:00:34.400 --> 01:00:36.159
Like I that would make me a coward, and I'm not one.
01:00:36.239 --> 01:00:37.840
So it's staying up, even if you disagree with me.
01:00:37.920 --> 01:00:38.800
And I was like, there you go.
01:00:38.880 --> 01:00:41.039
That's that's how you handle this, if you're right.
01:00:41.199 --> 01:00:45.519
Um and so if you didn't do that, if you're gonna put your yeah, exactly.
01:00:45.599 --> 01:01:01.519
If you're gonna put yourself out there and whether it's say a statement or whether it's do something like this, you're like, you should think through the whole thing and then like recognize that you're gonna own it, but then you need to stick with it because when you backtrack or back off it, you're either admitting that you were wrong, you're admitting that you're doing something wrong or inappropriate.
01:01:01.599 --> 01:01:04.239
So, like, I I I don't see why they often do that.
01:01:04.320 --> 01:01:06.400
Um, but yeah, this one's gonna be an interesting one.
01:01:06.480 --> 01:01:16.960
Obviously, it's not gonna be settled uh to the final extent by Tuesday, but um, it might have some set some precedent for how they move forward when they use these uh targeted social media ads and things like that during election.
01:01:17.199 --> 01:01:21.920
And it's absolutely wild because I don't want to say it's one-sided, but it it largely is.
01:01:22.159 --> 01:01:39.679
You know, if you add up all the stuff just in the Harris County region, so Harris County itself is being sued uh through the clerk's office for these these electioneering uh you know advertisements, potential, um, where they, by the way, the targeted things were like Afrobeat, other countries, the only language they had listed as a potential language to advertise was Spanish.
01:01:39.840 --> 01:01:41.119
They were targeting Spanish voters.
01:01:41.199 --> 01:01:42.079
There was no English.
01:01:42.559 --> 01:01:46.559
Um it was very obviously targeting specific ethnic groups.
01:01:46.800 --> 01:01:57.760
And then you look at Leslie Brionis, who again is being accused of not just bribery, but is being accused of this particular sort of hey, here's me sending out advertising taxpayer dollars that benefit my campaign.
01:01:58.079 --> 01:02:05.519
And then you have U of H, uh, which their student government association is in trouble because they hosted an event called Get Out the Vote with Gina Hina Hosha.
01:02:06.079 --> 01:02:08.159
And they had another one with Bernie Sanders.
01:02:08.320 --> 01:02:11.119
And U of H has come out and been like, well, we we've taken corrective action.
01:02:11.199 --> 01:02:13.119
We're so sorry for the mix-up, we've deleted the post.
01:02:13.280 --> 01:02:19.760
It's like, yeah, but you invited thousands of college students to hear from a Democrat candidate as an official tax or subsidized university.
01:02:19.840 --> 01:02:25.760
And that's three very clear examples benefiting Democrats in a single area in a single month.
01:02:26.639 --> 01:02:27.199
Yeah, yeah.
01:02:27.280 --> 01:02:27.920
I mean, you're right.
01:02:28.079 --> 01:02:30.960
Like it's and that's the thing, it's you're you're right, it's very clear.
01:02:31.039 --> 01:02:35.440
And the things that conservatives often get in quote unquote in trouble about or have to backtrack on.
01:02:35.519 --> 01:02:47.920
Like I re I remember a couple months ago where they were talking about doing uh different Charlie Kirk statues, and then it was gonna be privately funded and they were gonna do it themselves and put them in various locations, and they were getting attacked because one wanted to do it on a college campus or this or that.
01:02:48.000 --> 01:02:55.280
But yet you can use funds to fund these left-wing and democratic causes left and right um from college campuses and any other public institution.
01:02:55.440 --> 01:02:58.719
But yet you start using something with private funds on the conservative side and you're just shot down.
01:02:58.960 --> 01:03:11.760
No, and I hope that the OAG and the courts uh are able to push this through with the Harris County because uh, as far as U of H is going, at least right now, U of H literally put on a statement where the most they said they did was they quote, took corrective action and deleted the posts.
01:03:11.920 --> 01:03:17.280
And that seems to be the end of it, despite the fact that they may have influenced, again, hundreds or thousands of students to turn out for Democrats.
01:03:17.440 --> 01:03:19.360
It's corrective action that we don't even know what it is.
01:03:19.440 --> 01:03:23.840
And so hopefully we have a case here where there's some justice uh given for these violations.
01:03:24.000 --> 01:03:25.760
Now, I do want to jump over.
01:03:25.920 --> 01:03:27.599
Can you kind of walk us through the details?
01:03:27.679 --> 01:03:33.519
Uh, maybe some background would be helpful here on the Harris County Ankle Monitor Program, because that's been broken for a while.
01:03:33.599 --> 01:03:38.000
Uh Lee Gilly, of course, is the recent high-profile escapee of that program.
01:03:38.159 --> 01:03:39.519
Can you walk us through what's going on with those?
01:03:39.599 --> 01:03:42.719
Because I know we were supposed to get new funding and implement it.
01:03:42.800 --> 01:03:47.679
And there was recently, I think this week, actually, they kind of did a press conference of sorts where they talked about it.
01:03:48.079 --> 01:03:51.599
Yeah, so the ankle monitor program, your listeners might remember.
01:03:51.679 --> 01:03:55.280
Um, it has been broken for, I think we're going on now two years.
01:03:55.440 --> 01:04:04.239
And so with the big thing that they might remember is when we had the 24-7, it's supposed to be 24-7 ankle monitoring and always monitors, they take it off, they're alerted, but that's none of that is true.
01:04:04.320 --> 01:04:05.039
None of that happens.
01:04:05.280 --> 01:04:13.920
And so there was a 24-7 um blackout or rollout backed by uh one and a half million dollars from commissioners court to pursue fixing this issue.
01:04:14.000 --> 01:04:15.519
They're still understaffed and all these other things.
01:04:15.599 --> 01:04:20.559
But the big issue that I was referring to before was when um there was a weekend where they just kind of went dark.
01:04:20.639 --> 01:04:30.639
The entire system went dark and they were unable to keep track of anyone who had an ankle monitor, and then it didn't come out for maybe a week or two after that, where they kind of came out instead, kind of like through an audit report thing.
01:04:30.880 --> 01:04:31.679
This is what happened.
01:04:31.760 --> 01:04:41.360
And for a weekend, I think there's tens of maybe tens of thousands might be a stretch, but it's not far from about 10,000 of uh individuals with ankle monitors where it's kind of unmonitored.
01:04:41.440 --> 01:04:45.280
And even today you're still seeing issues with them cutting them off and removing them and not being caught.
01:04:45.840 --> 01:04:46.559
No, absolutely.
01:04:46.639 --> 01:04:55.440
And and one thing that I want to highlight is again, it's not just that this is a problem that exists, it's also that it has legitimate ramifications that we can we can literally witness.
01:04:55.519 --> 01:05:07.920
Um, for instance, when you look at Lee Gilly, uh, who is alleged to have murdered his pregnant wife, who it was 60 hours after he cut his ankle monitor, he was already in Canada on his way to Italy by the time they found out he was even gone, supposedly.
01:05:08.559 --> 01:05:14.239
And by the time they did it, now now he's still, by the way, not back in Houston because Italy said you can't give him the death penalty because we don't believe in that.
01:05:14.320 --> 01:05:17.679
We won't extradite until you say you won't do that, despite him murdering his pregnant wife.
01:05:17.840 --> 01:05:21.679
So we, of course, bent over backwards and said, fine, I guess we won't pursue justice.
01:05:21.760 --> 01:05:22.880
We won't pursue the death penalty.
01:05:23.039 --> 01:05:24.400
They said, No, no, no, still not enough.
01:05:24.480 --> 01:05:29.920
We actually don't want you to even do capital murder charges either, because those charges could result in life in prison without parole.
01:05:30.079 --> 01:05:30.800
And we don't believe in that either.
01:05:30.960 --> 01:05:34.000
You have to give him the parole opportunity, so it needs to need to be murdered, not capital murder.
01:05:34.159 --> 01:05:40.239
And we're waiting still months later for Italy to send him back because of the program.
01:05:41.440 --> 01:05:47.039
I mean, it's mind blowing to think in the it's mind blowing to think in general, but it's also mind blowing to think that this is like a Harris County issue.
01:05:47.119 --> 01:05:49.119
Why is it always Harris County that we're dealing with something?
01:05:49.679 --> 01:05:51.440
Here we are in like this international scandal.
01:05:51.679 --> 01:05:59.760
But it is interesting, and with that, with that, um with him removing his, I remember when they first came out and said it that they said that they were not monitoring over the weekend and that.
01:06:00.079 --> 01:06:07.360
This isn't something that they didn't know would fill a gap because they couldn't fill enough positions to have people there and they didn't have enough overtime left in the budget to do it.
01:06:07.440 --> 01:06:15.840
And I mean it's just kind of crazy to think that these systems that we have in place that are supposed to be kind of operating in the background without us having to think about them are actually not.
01:06:15.920 --> 01:06:17.920
And we probably should be thinking about them more than we are.
01:06:18.159 --> 01:06:25.840
Again, you also had a Harris County defendant this month who was released on a$10,000,$100,000 bond filed following a sexual assault charge.
01:06:25.920 --> 01:06:30.079
Uh he removed his GPS monitor and then didn't appear for his trial on October 16th.
01:06:30.239 --> 01:06:31.599
He apparently had traveled to the U.S.
01:06:31.679 --> 01:06:32.320
Mexico border.
01:06:32.400 --> 01:06:35.920
He was an illegal immigrant and they apprehended him in South Texas.
01:06:36.000 --> 01:06:36.719
Uh, thank goodness.
01:06:36.800 --> 01:06:39.440
Because he if he managed to Mexico, just no way you're getting him.
01:06:39.519 --> 01:06:54.960
And so again, and and the lady on the bus that was shot uh back, I believe it back in January, maybe, maybe late last year, she was shot by a guy uh who was out on bond who had taken his ankle monitor off, and that's how she died uh from this guy in this gang-related shooting as a bystander.
01:06:55.119 --> 01:07:04.639
And so again, we have legitimate ramifications we can see with our own eyes, just in the last little bit of time, where we can see why why are we even going after this program?
01:07:04.719 --> 01:07:06.159
Why do we not have better bond conditions?
01:07:06.239 --> 01:07:08.400
I couldn't tell you, but clearly something needs to be done.
01:07:08.480 --> 01:07:12.159
Now, speaking of something that needs to be done, can you walk us through B exemptions?
01:07:13.679 --> 01:07:15.519
Yeah, uh you broke up on that last one.
01:07:15.599 --> 01:07:15.920
What was it?
01:07:16.800 --> 01:07:17.280
B exemptions.
01:07:17.360 --> 01:07:18.320
I want to hear about B exemptions.
01:07:18.480 --> 01:07:19.119
Oh, D exemptions.
01:07:19.280 --> 01:07:19.920
Yes, yes, yes.
01:07:20.000 --> 01:07:22.159
So this is an interesting one that I've been uh working on.
01:07:22.239 --> 01:07:28.400
So, you know, you gave me an opportunity on your show to talk about the homestead exemptions for a number of weeks that we kind of rambled on about those.
01:07:28.480 --> 01:07:31.039
And so the next thing that we were looking at are these B exemptions.
01:07:31.119 --> 01:07:36.159
Now, these aren't illegal, they're not improper, it's just a very interesting thing that's happening here in Harris County.
01:07:36.320 --> 01:07:47.199
And what it is is that people are uh realizing that they can have beehives on their property and take advantage of a very generous agriculture exemption um on a very small piece of property, and so you don't have to have much.
01:07:47.360 --> 01:07:55.119
And so right now you think you have a minimum of five acres um that you can keep bees on, keep hives on, but that's also not being necessarily enforced.
01:07:55.199 --> 01:07:58.320
But there are a lot of properties that are significantly decreasing.
01:07:58.400 --> 01:08:21.359
I'm talking about from like millions to less than tens of thousands because the numbers of different things of hives that they have um are reduced at that value on their property because of these and other agriculture exemptions as well, but the bee exemptions in particular have skyrocketed in Harris County, and there's about um 500 alleged uh beehive keepers across Harris County who are benefiting from the exemptions.
01:08:21.520 --> 01:08:25.199
And so, in theory, these they should be producing things and we should be buying them.
01:08:25.279 --> 01:08:29.279
But I don't know that there's about 500 that I see on the regular selling homemade bee products.
01:08:29.520 --> 01:08:29.680
Right.
01:08:29.760 --> 01:08:32.720
That that's again the thing where it's like, where's the legal line on this?
01:08:32.880 --> 01:08:34.079
How do we enforce it?
01:08:34.239 --> 01:08:43.119
And especially when you're talking about something as as controversial as property taxes, because you're getting into property taxes going up and people not paying their fair share and people getting out of it, especially when we're talking all about the homestead exemption problem.
01:08:43.199 --> 01:08:48.880
It's like, well, where do we go from here when these sorts of things are happening and it's obviously benefiting this particular group of people?
01:08:49.039 --> 01:08:54.800
Now, to wrap up, Charles, real quickly here, I just want to highlight for you, so our listeners can get your response to it.
01:08:54.880 --> 01:09:05.439
Uh, the record for a non-presidential election was 2018 here in Harris County, when 855,711 people cast ballots during the entire early voting period.
01:09:05.680 --> 01:09:09.119
This early voting for 2026 is now the record.
01:09:09.279 --> 01:09:13.039
As of Thursday morning, when the polls opened, we were at 862,000.
01:09:13.119 --> 01:09:19.279
So before the last two days will be counted, we had already broken the early voting record for Harris County.
01:09:19.439 --> 01:09:24.079
The only other the last record was 2024 for a presidential election, which was 1.2 million.
01:09:24.159 --> 01:09:29.520
And you have Tanisha Hudsmith who said that we may have over a million people by the end of early voting this year.
01:09:29.920 --> 01:09:32.319
That is uh it's I mean, it's truly mind-blowing.
01:09:32.399 --> 01:09:37.920
And like I think it's it's concerning because what is driving people out to vote, we don't necessarily know that yet.
01:09:38.079 --> 01:09:40.800
They could say one thing, they could say another, but we just don't know.
01:09:40.960 --> 01:09:48.800
And so to see this many people who have, and a lot of them with without you know, sense of prior voting histories, um, that we can kind of just guess or determine where they're gonna fall at.
01:09:48.880 --> 01:09:51.119
It's uh it's gonna be interesting on Tuesday.
01:09:51.199 --> 01:09:54.640
And so I I I just hope for the best, as as as I always do.
01:09:54.720 --> 01:09:55.279
I hope for the best.
01:09:55.520 --> 01:10:01.920
I was gonna say, during the weekly local recap next Friday, hopefully, hopefully the way that you can bring up updates is very good.
01:10:02.000 --> 01:10:07.279
Um, I'll have covered elections some, but hopefully on Friday we can really say, hey, look how good we did.
01:10:07.359 --> 01:10:09.119
I'm I'm really optimistic there.
01:10:09.199 --> 01:10:16.560
Uh with that being said, when you're not here on the show on Fridays, where can people find all the stuff that you're putting out, all the information that you've got available for people?
01:10:17.279 --> 01:10:21.840
They can just check us out at localinsights.ai or local insights all across social media.
01:10:21.920 --> 01:10:23.840
Those are all our platform names the same.
01:10:23.920 --> 01:10:28.560
And uh, we're posting a lot of interesting stuff there and should have a video up about the beehives this morning, actually.
01:10:28.640 --> 01:10:29.520
So check it out.
01:10:29.680 --> 01:10:30.000
Excellent.
01:10:30.079 --> 01:10:36.800
Well, Charles, as always, we appreciate you coming on the show, giving us your time, and for all the work that you do behind the show as well.
01:10:37.359 --> 01:10:38.079
Thank you so much.
01:10:38.239 --> 01:10:39.359
Looking forward to talking to you next week.
01:10:39.520 --> 01:10:39.760
Absolutely.
01:10:39.920 --> 01:10:40.800
That being said, we get back.
01:10:40.880 --> 01:10:44.000

We'll talk all about the details of this guy.

His name is Call Winder Singh Ben Gura.
01:10:49.439 --> 01:10:50.800

01:15:21.520 --> 01:15:23.039
Welcome back, ladies and gentlemen.
01:15:23.119 --> 01:15:35.279
I'm your host, Michael Wilson, and you're listening to the Lone Star Conservative, a federal jury, convicted a non-citizen living legally in the United States of illegally registering and voting in a federal election in Tarrant County, Texas.
01:15:35.600 --> 01:15:42.239
Indian National Colwinder Singh Ben Gura was found guilty of voting by an alien in a federal election and making a false claim of U.S.
01:15:42.319 --> 01:15:44.479
citizenship in order to register to vote.
01:15:44.640 --> 01:15:45.520
He's not a U.S.
01:15:45.600 --> 01:15:49.920
citizen, and as far as anybody is aware, he never even applied for citizenship.
01:15:50.159 --> 01:15:58.800
According to evidence presented at trial, Ben Gura became a lawful appropriate resident back in June of 2022 and applied for a driver's license through the Texas Department of Public Safety back in 2024.
01:15:59.039 --> 01:16:06.800
The motor voter provision of the National Voter Registration Act requires DPS to offer driver's license to applicants an option to simultaneously register to vote.
01:16:06.960 --> 01:16:11.439
So in his application, Ben Gura checked boxes stating that he was a U.S.
01:16:11.520 --> 01:16:12.960
citizen and wanted to register to vote.
01:16:13.039 --> 01:16:18.720
Based on that application, he was registered to vote in Tarrant County, Texas, although the form appears to have originally been routed to Dallas County.
01:16:18.880 --> 01:16:24.159
On November 5th, 2024, Ben Gura voted in person at the East Library and Recreation Center in Arlington.
01:16:24.239 --> 01:16:27.520
The general election ballot included both federal and, of course, state elections.
01:16:27.680 --> 01:16:33.119
The voting record indicates that Ben Gura showed acceptable photo ID, presumably his driver's license, which is all you have to show.
01:16:33.359 --> 01:16:38.159
Law firm residents receive Texas driver's license that look identical to license issued to citizens.
01:16:38.560 --> 01:16:43.039
Uh attorney Ryan Raybold said, Voting in our national elections is reserved for U.S.
01:16:43.119 --> 01:16:43.439
citizens.
01:16:43.520 --> 01:16:44.560
This should not be unclear.
01:16:44.720 --> 01:16:51.600
Every unlawful vote undermines the voices of eligible citizens, and this office will hold accountable anyone who undermines our elections.
01:16:51.840 --> 01:16:58.239
This verdict reflects the jury's careful consideration of the evidence and our commitment to protecting the integrity of the electoral process in North Texas.
01:16:58.479 --> 01:17:08.239
He faces up to five years in federal prison and a fine of up to$250,000 for making false statements of citizenship and up to one year in prison and a fine of$100,000 for voting by an alien.
01:17:08.560 --> 01:17:13.920
He could also be subject to deportation after serving his term of imprisonment.
01:17:14.079 --> 01:17:17.920
And by the way, sentencing is set for February 11th of next year.
01:17:18.159 --> 01:17:23.840
And again, for everyone saying that illegals can't vote, that also means people who are here legally that should not be able to vote.
01:17:23.920 --> 01:17:25.199
That's included when we say that.
01:17:25.359 --> 01:17:27.039
People who shouldn't be able to vote that are voting.
01:17:27.199 --> 01:17:28.640
We've had numerous cases like that.
01:17:28.800 --> 01:17:37.119
We had last month we had uh we had a Mexican national in September, we had seven foreign nationals arrested on unlawful voting charges.
01:17:37.439 --> 01:17:44.319
Uh, you also had uh a UK a citizen of the UK living in Houston, admitting to illegally voting in the 2024 election.
01:17:44.399 --> 01:17:51.439
You also had another UK citizen who was lawfully residing in Cady pleaded guilty to in August to illegally voting in the 2020 election.
01:17:51.680 --> 01:18:00.720
And so Texas Secretary of State Robert Howden has referred 117 cases of potential non-citizen voting to the Texas Attorney General's office back on September 15th.
01:18:00.880 --> 01:18:03.039
And so there's obviously a massive problem going on here.
01:18:03.119 --> 01:18:07.279
So for all the leftists that have told you, no, no, no, that's not happening, it's impossible, there's no way to do it.
01:18:07.600 --> 01:18:08.800
Clearly it's not impossible.
01:18:08.960 --> 01:18:10.000
Clearly it's happening.
01:18:10.159 --> 01:18:13.680
And I do want to say, for the sake of the record, I want to be very clear about this.
01:18:14.960 --> 01:18:32.479
For this particular, for all of these individuals, whether they're here illegally or they were lawful residents, if you take advantage of the system which is supposed to benefit the citizens, and you take advantage by coming here, staying here, and then breaking our laws, that should automatically subject you to deportation.
01:18:33.039 --> 01:18:34.960
It should be a one-strike and you're out sort of scenario.
01:18:35.039 --> 01:18:36.000
You don't get three strikes.
01:18:36.399 --> 01:18:41.600
If you're here, you are here as a privilege, not a God-given right, like those who are born on U.S.
01:18:41.680 --> 01:18:42.000
soil.
01:18:42.319 --> 01:18:50.159
Like those of us who are actually Americans, you were given a privilege to come here and to stay here among the people and to live in the greatest country on earth.
01:18:50.399 --> 01:18:51.199
That is a privilege.
01:18:51.439 --> 01:18:54.960
And that privilege can be revoked at any time for a good reason.
01:18:55.439 --> 01:19:12.800
And you breaking the laws, especially laws like voting, these are quintessential to our rights as Americans, uh, to our ability to exercise our voices and to elect our representatives to represent us in office, if you do that, it shouldn't even be subject to it should be automatic deportation if you're convicted.
01:19:13.039 --> 01:19:20.000
That that should be the response is that if you come in as a privilege and you violate our laws, you leave.
01:19:20.319 --> 01:19:21.039
It's it's that simple.
01:19:21.119 --> 01:19:22.960
One strike and you're out, you are given a privilege.
01:19:23.039 --> 01:19:24.960
Or if you give your kids a privilege, it's the same thing.
01:19:25.039 --> 01:19:28.479
If you give your children privilege and they break the rules, you take that particular privilege away.
01:19:28.560 --> 01:19:33.520
If I say, hey, I bought you a bicycle every day when you're done writing it, I want you to put it in the garage and make sure that it's clean.
01:19:34.159 --> 01:19:39.359
And I find it sitting on the driveway, laid down behind my car, the bike is gone, at least for a time.
01:19:40.479 --> 01:19:43.520
The same thing should certainly be true of those that come in our country.
01:19:43.680 --> 01:19:49.520
That being said, we're gonna have Richard Vega coming on the show in the next segment with an interview that you will not want to miss.

Joining us now, a very exciting guest.
01:24:22.159 --> 01:24:27.600
We have Richard Vega coming on, of course, running for Precinct 2 Harris County Commissioner against Adrian Garcia.
01:24:27.760 --> 01:24:29.119
Welcome to the show, Richard.
01:24:29.840 --> 01:24:30.880
Hey, thanks, Michael.
01:24:30.960 --> 01:24:32.000
Thanks so much, man.
01:24:32.239 --> 01:24:32.800
Absolutely not.
01:24:33.039 --> 01:24:37.520
I want to, without without holding off, I want to get into this because I think this is incredibly important for our listeners to hear.
01:24:37.760 --> 01:24:42.239
Can you kind of walk us through, and you can put some background with this so we understand what we're actually talking about?
01:24:42.399 --> 01:24:53.279
Can you walk us through some of these projects, this funding, line items that got removed from the last commissioner's court meeting, and what's going on with the negligence in our commissioner's court when it comes to utilizing the funding that we were literally given?
01:24:54.319 --> 01:24:55.520
Yeah, absolutely.
01:24:55.680 --> 01:25:04.479
So my opponent uh at commissioner's court decided to pull last commissioner's court uh the on the agenda line item 93.
01:25:04.560 --> 01:25:06.800
That's very important, line item 93.
01:25:07.039 --> 01:25:16.079
Uh because the flood control district director was to give an update on what was going on with our flood mitigation project and our disaster relief project.
01:25:16.479 --> 01:25:30.479
But in that presentation, uh, that director was going to be able to testify on why we have lost$113 million to go to our infrastructure.
01:25:30.720 --> 01:25:41.840
Um, and what happened in that project was that there's there's letters of correspondence between the land commissioner, the GL, and the county commissioners.
01:25:43.119 --> 01:26:03.439
And in the letter from the land commissioners, he has been completely committed and complete information required what did that mean?
01:26:03.680 --> 01:26:08.640
What he has made because we've already been in place in final extension.
01:26:12.640 --> 01:26:34.319
He had to pull$113 million of money, of the rent money that we're to receive off of the um the money that we were getting from our uh our uh we had the fund, and it was like a matching fund, and he was getting pulled to go to a different county.
01:26:34.560 --> 01:26:50.640
And so what we discovered was is we got both letters, and then also um there was correspondence between Adrian's number two person, but but Adrian did not take the leadership role, he didn't even address the situation.
01:26:50.880 --> 01:26:53.520
What he tried to do on commissioner's court was hide it.
01:26:53.600 --> 01:27:02.800
He pulled the line item so the fed for the so the flood control district uh director couldn't testify, so the media couldn't get a hold of it.
01:27:03.039 --> 01:27:03.199
Right.
01:27:03.279 --> 01:27:16.479
And I want to uh one thing that kind of meant was mentioned in passing that I do want to clarify, because again, this actually makes it even worse, is this was not that they had a couple of months to really quickly figure this out, get projects underway and get them finished, like like in the snap of a finger.
01:27:16.720 --> 01:27:19.119
They were given multiple extensions.
01:27:19.199 --> 01:27:27.199
You mentioned the final extension, which would lead me to believe that it wasn't a little short, you only had a second to decide you had one commissioner's court meeting and you ran out of time.
01:27:27.359 --> 01:27:31.840
This sounds like, and I don't want to you know put words in anybody's mouth, but it sounds like negligence to me.
01:27:32.880 --> 01:27:33.920
A hundred percent.
01:27:34.079 --> 01:27:46.640
So all of these emails and correspondence between the land commissioner's office and the flood control office was all fit to Adrian Garcia's office.
01:27:47.119 --> 01:27:53.279
It's the fact that they just keep on looking over this and not and not uh and not even addressing it.
01:27:53.680 --> 01:28:47.520
In fact, uh the land commissioner even wrote also in her letter, she said because So she just turned around and denied them and said, No, you guys have had too many opportunities.
01:28:47.680 --> 01:28:49.119
You don't know what you're doing.
01:28:49.279 --> 01:28:50.640
I'm taking the money.
01:28:50.880 --> 01:28:51.119
Right.
01:28:51.199 --> 01:28:52.960
And again, I've said this before, right?
01:28:53.119 --> 01:28:54.000
People make mistakes.
01:28:54.159 --> 01:28:56.399
Uh, that doesn't justify when they do, but they do.
01:28:56.640 --> 01:29:02.640
And, you know, there's a lot of respect that I have for people who've made mistakes, and then they come out, they announce their mistakes publicly, and they say, I'm very sorry.
01:29:02.720 --> 01:29:06.560
Let me explain my my rationale here, not as an excuse, but as an explanation.
01:29:06.640 --> 01:29:11.600
Um, and I'll also give you a detailed reason why I'll make sure this doesn't happen again.
01:29:11.760 --> 01:29:13.359
I have a lot of respect for those sorts of people.
01:29:13.439 --> 01:29:20.800
Who I don't have respect for are people that cover them up, that pretend they didn't happen, and that do anything in their power to pretend as though nothing went wrong.
01:29:20.880 --> 01:29:30.079
Uh, and we see this from a lot of local government all the time, where they just I either they remove line items or they don't talk about it, or there's a charge and they just kind of skirt past it.
01:29:30.239 --> 01:29:37.279
And this is another example of where we have obvious incompetence, and there might be a level of some sort of respect if that was addressed publicly.
01:29:37.359 --> 01:29:38.880
And they said, here's why that happened.
01:29:39.039 --> 01:29:42.159
I understand how frustrating this is, but we're not even getting that.
01:29:43.760 --> 01:29:45.119
No, we're not even getting that.
01:29:45.279 --> 01:29:55.680
What we got was political theater to where he pulled my opponent, pulled the line item in commissioner's court, so the media couldn't get a hold of it.
01:29:55.920 --> 01:29:56.079
Right.
01:29:56.159 --> 01:30:02.159
And again, I think this highlights the importance because a lot of people, of course, uh either have already early voted, if they have not, they need to go do that.
01:30:02.239 --> 01:30:05.279
Uh, that's an important thing that I want to keep highlighting here through the rest of the show today.
01:30:05.439 --> 01:30:14.159
You need, if you have not already gone, to go out to vote either today, if you can't make it out today, you of course also have election day, that's Tuesday, November the third, uh, to get out and vote.
01:30:14.319 --> 01:30:18.079
But this particular story, again, highlights the importance of a lot of these local races.
01:30:18.239 --> 01:30:20.479
Because I know that the big races on everybody's agenda.
01:30:20.560 --> 01:30:33.920
Yeah, you have the governor's race, you have the Senate race, you've got the the Railroad Commission, you've got the attorney general, you've got the lieutenant governor, but you have a lot of these races that have less participation because there's fewer people that can vote in them, right?
01:30:34.239 --> 01:30:38.319
Not as many people can vote in a Harris County election as opposed to a statewide race.
01:30:38.560 --> 01:30:43.199
And because it's further down the ballot, less people are going to go that far or know who these people are.
01:30:43.279 --> 01:31:00.319
And so this is a phenomenal opportunity, and Richard, you can correct me if I'm wrong, but this is a phenomenal opportunity to change the leadership so that stuff like this, where we have these massive budget deficits, where we're raising property taxes to historic highs, uh, while throwing away hundreds of millions of dollars for our flood infrastructure so that we can start fixing those sorts of problems.
01:31:01.520 --> 01:31:03.920
Absolutely, you're 100% right.
01:31:04.239 --> 01:31:05.760
And so I think it's very important.
01:31:05.920 --> 01:31:14.640
Richard, as always, want to thank you so much for coming on the show, for joining us, for giving us these details so that people can make informed decisions when they go to the polls.
01:31:15.600 --> 01:31:17.760
Oh man, thank you so much for having me on.
01:31:17.840 --> 01:31:21.760
Let's continue to educate the voters and get people to the polls.
01:31:21.920 --> 01:31:24.079
Republicans are behind right now.
01:31:24.239 --> 01:31:28.479
We need to get our conservative uh folks out and vote.
01:31:28.640 --> 01:31:30.640
Today's the last day of early voting.
01:31:30.800 --> 01:31:32.479
We gotta get you out to the polls.
01:31:32.640 --> 01:31:33.119
7 p.m.
01:31:33.279 --> 01:31:33.840
they close.
01:31:34.000 --> 01:31:35.039
Get to the polls.
01:31:35.279 --> 01:31:35.680
Excellent.
01:31:35.760 --> 01:31:40.079
Well, Richard, thanks so much for coming on and uh Godspeed to you in your election, my friend.
01:31:40.479 --> 01:31:41.199
God bless you.
01:31:41.279 --> 01:31:41.600
Thank you.
01:31:41.760 --> 01:31:42.079
Of course.
01:31:42.159 --> 01:31:45.199
With that being said, before we go to the break, let's real quickly also talk about another thing going on.
01:31:45.279 --> 01:31:53.199
And again, this highlights the importance of these local races uh because that directly contributes to your quality of life on a day-to-day basis as a reminder.
01:31:53.279 --> 01:32:02.399
Uh, because again, yes, it's important that we have good senators in office, it's important that we have a great governor, it's important that we have as much as possible a good comptroller, a good railroad commissioner, a good uh attorney general.
01:32:02.560 --> 01:32:04.079
We've been very blessed with those things.
01:32:04.239 --> 01:32:09.119
But I want to remind everybody how crucial it is that you have good local elected representatives.
01:32:09.279 --> 01:32:12.720
Because the reality is that when it comes to flood control, we have hurricanes here.
01:32:12.800 --> 01:32:14.079
I don't know if you guys noticed.
01:32:14.800 --> 01:32:22.159
Um you you have to understand that your day-to-day life is heavily impacted by these local races.
01:32:22.239 --> 01:32:37.039
Whether that's your property taxes being collected by the local county, whether that is the the projects that are going through, where the spending is going, what budget deficit you're in, how much debt your county's taking on that you, not them, you will then be accountable for.
01:32:37.199 --> 01:32:43.039
All of those things are direct repercussions of who gets elected to these local positions.
01:32:43.199 --> 01:32:45.520
But I do want to know about the controller's race as well.
01:32:45.760 --> 01:32:55.920
Controller Don Huff Hines issued an executive order barring entities with financial participation by certain convicted human trafficking offenders from receiving contracts or grants administered by his office.
01:32:56.079 --> 01:33:09.359
The order requires contractors and grant recipients to certify that no person with financial participation in their organization has been convicted within the preceding five years of an offense related to the direct support or promotion of human trafficking.
01:33:09.600 --> 01:33:12.880
And again, you might be thinking to yourself, why did this not happen before?
01:33:13.039 --> 01:33:13.920
Why is this happening now?
01:33:14.079 --> 01:33:15.199
Well, I'll tell you why.
01:33:15.439 --> 01:33:18.560
Because again, we didn't have good leadership in these positions.
01:33:18.880 --> 01:33:25.520
We had people that were kind of just idling by, doing the bare minimum, if even that, uh, to the point where things just weren't getting done.
01:33:25.680 --> 01:33:32.159
And let's be honest, Don Uffines has been doing an excellent job just in the few months that he's been in the office.
01:33:32.399 --> 01:33:36.960
Another important reason to get out and vote and vote all the way down the ballot for every Republican on that ballot.
01:33:37.039 --> 01:33:48.640
According to the controller's office, Texas Government Code Section 252 2155.0061 already prohibits state agencies from accepting bids or awarding contracts involving financial participation by individual with those convictions.
01:33:48.800 --> 01:33:53.199
However, that prohibition only extends to contracts, not to grants.
01:33:53.359 --> 01:33:58.720
And so Hubbine's order applies the eligibility certification to both contracts and grants administered by his agency.
01:33:58.880 --> 01:34:06.319
He said human trafficking is pure evil, and Texas will not allow a single dollar of public money to flow to anyone connected to it.
01:34:06.399 --> 01:34:08.640
The government's first duty is to defend the innocent.
01:34:08.800 --> 01:34:18.880
No agency, no nonprofit, no contractor should ever benefit from state funding if the organization is financial participation from someone convicted of such a horrific crime.
01:34:19.119 --> 01:34:29.520
Under the order, contractors and grantees must also acknowledge that the controller's office may withhold payment or immediately terminate an agreement without further obligation if their certification is inaccurate.
01:34:29.680 --> 01:34:33.840
The requirements will be incorporated into all relevant future solicitations and agreements.
01:34:34.079 --> 01:34:42.399
He said Texas, Texans should never have to worry about their tax dollars supporting criminals engaged in the exploitation of women, children, or any vulnerable person.
01:34:42.560 --> 01:34:46.159
And again, this is not a one-off where you finally have a comptroller doing one good thing.
01:34:46.319 --> 01:34:50.079
Uh back on October 13th, it barred the use of comptroller grant money for flock cameras.
01:34:50.319 --> 01:34:54.560
On October 15th, there was an order prohibiting taxpayer funding for discriminatory DEI initiatives.
01:34:54.720 --> 01:35:01.119
You also had an October 21st order barring businesses requiring COVID-19 vaccine passports from receiving comptroller contracts and grants.
01:35:01.279 --> 01:35:05.600
And his office has said that additional contract and grant requirements will be announced in the coming weeks.
01:35:05.760 --> 01:35:10.720
We actually got to talk to Don Hoffein's last year, uh back when the primary was kind of ramping up.
01:35:10.880 --> 01:35:13.920
And I distinctly remember, by the way, an excellent candidate.
01:35:14.079 --> 01:35:19.199
He came on the show and was telling us there is so much waste, fraud, and abuse.
01:35:19.359 --> 01:35:27.600
And my goal getting in there, running all the budgets, making sure all the money is flowing to where it's supposed to go, my number one job is to make sure that people are being represented well.
01:35:28.079 --> 01:35:31.359
And a lot of that is stuff that is easily fixable when you get in.
01:35:31.439 --> 01:35:34.239
It's it's orders, it's making sure that stuff is being operated.
01:35:34.319 --> 01:35:42.640
He said there's so many inefficiencies, so much wasteful spending on things that the taxpayers have never consented to, would never consent to if it were put on their ballot.
01:35:42.800 --> 01:35:46.880
And by extension, these are things that nobody wants and nobody should be getting.
01:35:47.039 --> 01:36:03.840
And so his promise to me on the show and to all of our listeners a year ago was when I get in, if I win my election, when I get in, I'm gonna go out and I'm gonna find all that waste, all that fraud, all that abuse, all of those things that are directly benefiting the wrong people instead of the taxpayers, and we're gonna root them out.
01:36:04.000 --> 01:36:13.039
And so far, despite the fact that he had not won his election yet, but has been put in the position, all I've seen is evidence that that promise is true, uh, that everything that he was campaigning on is actually accurate.
01:36:13.199 --> 01:36:17.359
It's all the more reason to vote for Don Huffein's for Comptroller.
01:36:17.439 --> 01:36:19.840
Um if you have not already gone out and voted, again, you can do that today.
01:36:19.920 --> 01:36:21.279
Today's the last day of early voting.
01:36:21.359 --> 01:36:22.800
Uh, so get out if you can today.
01:36:22.960 --> 01:36:30.960
If not today, make sure that you go on Tuesday, November 3rd, that is election day, so that we can win these races.
01:36:31.199 --> 01:36:34.880
With that being said, this is the last break before we wrap up the show.
01:36:35.039 --> 01:36:41.920
As always, if you would like to text in, the number is 713-779-5978.
01:36:42.399 --> 01:36:52.079
In the last segment, Lord willing, uh, we'll be going over a search warrant which has detailed the Harris County investigation into the ICE agent for the crash that injured a Houston immigrant.
01:36:52.319 --> 01:36:54.239
We'll talk all about the details of that when we get back again.
01:36:54.399 --> 01:36:54.800
You can text in.
01:36:54.880 --> 01:37:02.159
This is your final chance during the show this week, during the show uh today, and potentially this month, though we'll have a live broadcast tomorrow, which we'll talk about in the last segment.
01:37:02.239 --> 01:37:06.079
But text in 713-779-KYST.
01:37:06.159 --> 01:37:07.359
I'm your host, Michael Wilson.
01:37:07.439 --> 01:37:11.760
You're listening to the Lone Star Conservative, and Lord will be right back to wrap up the show after this final break.
01:37:11.840 --> 01:37:13.039

The Medicare Minute with Justin White is brought to you by Senior Health Services.
01:38:04.159 --> 01:38:10.399
We talk to a lot of people who will literally come up and say, I hate shopping for Medicare plans so much.
01:38:10.640 --> 01:38:12.239
And I'll say, What's happened?
01:38:12.399 --> 01:38:15.680
And they'll say, My gosh, my phone won't stop ringing.
01:38:15.840 --> 01:38:19.920
I've got people showing up at my door, my mailbox is full of garbage.
01:38:20.079 --> 01:38:21.359
It's just so unpleasant.
01:38:21.520 --> 01:38:23.520
And I'm like, I get it, and I'm sorry.
01:38:23.760 --> 01:38:24.560
But you know what?
01:38:24.720 --> 01:38:29.840
Don't let that keep you for demanding the best out of the plans that you have.
01:38:30.079 --> 01:38:31.439
These are available to you.
01:38:31.600 --> 01:38:32.800
You earned these.
01:38:33.119 --> 01:38:43.439
So do not allow those practices to discourage you from reaching out to somebody who can help you understand what your options are and change each year when it's appropriate to do so.
01:38:43.600 --> 01:38:45.840
Did you know that these plans they change kind of a lot?
01:38:45.920 --> 01:38:52.560
So if you've been in a plan for a long time, there's a good chance that thing is degraded a lot since you put it in place.
01:38:52.720 --> 01:39:01.199
Not a guarantee, but you got to get it reviewed so you know because you deserve to be in a plan that is on the cutting edge of whatever your needs happen to be.
01:39:01.439 --> 01:39:05.680
So pick up the phone, call a trusted agent, or call senior health services.

Saturday mornings at 6 on Patriot Talk 920.
01:41:13.920 --> 01:41:15.520
Welcome back, ladies and gentlemen.
01:41:15.600 --> 01:41:21.119
I'm your host, Michael Wilson, and you're listening to the Lone Star Conservative here on Patriot Talk 920.
01:41:21.199 --> 01:41:31.520
A search warrant aimed at obtaining evidence following the October 10th crash, in which an ICE agent hit a Houston immigrant with this SUV during a chase, has revealed the range of charges Harris County prosecutors could pursue with a grand jury in the case.
01:41:31.680 --> 01:41:47.199
Prosecutors could seek aggravated assault, which District Attorney Sean Tyr allegedly already said that he thought the Northwest Houston incident amounted to, or a misdemeanor offense of reckless driving against the ICE agent who struck 48-year-old Miguel Para Hernandez as he fled on foot, according to investigators' October 15th sworn affidavit.
01:41:47.359 --> 01:41:50.159
Misdemeanor cases typically don't even go before a grand jury.
01:41:50.319 --> 01:41:59.199
Tier has openly discussed aspects of the Harris County Sheriff's Office investigation, detailed in the search warrant during an array of media interviews, even saying the agent ran Para Hernandez down and hit him.
01:41:59.359 --> 01:42:08.640
The document is the first publicly available court record outlining what actually happened as well as what steps authorities have taken during the past three weeks to investigate the crash.
01:42:09.439 --> 01:42:20.239
Now, one thing I want to say is even when they start pursuing these charges, which they haven't even started yet, so this is all just hearsay, even when they do, as I always highlight, these are allegations, right?
01:42:20.319 --> 01:42:21.840
And we should not make determinations based on them.
01:42:21.920 --> 01:42:35.920
If you're convicted, I will hold, as I always have, a level of consistency in saying if there are if there is wrongdoing, if there are cases where somebody has broken the law, where they've violated the law or they've violated policy, there should be accountability for that.
01:42:36.239 --> 01:42:41.680
And we have to be very clear as conservatives that we're not showing that simple partiality.
01:42:41.920 --> 01:42:42.960
Do we all like ICE?
01:42:43.119 --> 01:42:43.439
Yes.
01:42:43.600 --> 01:42:45.199
Do we all support ICE operations?
01:42:45.439 --> 01:42:46.159
Absolutely.
01:42:46.319 --> 01:42:53.920
But we have to be cautious that we're not just like the left, or there's this sort of tribalism that doesn't allow us to pursue justice when it's people we like.
01:42:54.159 --> 01:43:05.119
No matter who it is, whether it's a political candidate, somebody who's been elected to office, whether it's a law enforcement agent at any level of law enforcement, any agency, there should be accountability when crimes are committed.
01:43:05.199 --> 01:43:15.760
And we should have the comprehensive constitution, the comprehensive consistency to say if there's wrongdoing, there must be accountability for the thing there was wrongdoing for.
01:43:16.720 --> 01:43:19.520
And by the way, that applies to you too, Democrats.
01:43:19.840 --> 01:43:32.479
So when Leslie Brionis is allegedly violating campaign law, when when U of H is inviting Democrat candidates to their events to basically endorse them and to get the vote out for them.
01:43:32.720 --> 01:43:39.600
And when you have cases where Harris County is targeting biracial demographics, there also needs to be accountability for that, too.
01:43:39.840 --> 01:43:40.960
That'll do it for the show today.
01:43:41.039 --> 01:43:44.079
I want to thank everyone for texting in, tuning in, and being a part of the show.
01:43:44.159 --> 01:43:45.600
We of course appreciate each and every one of you.
01:43:45.680 --> 01:43:48.640
As we wrap up, I just want to tease a couple things, let you know what's going on this weekend.
01:43:48.800 --> 01:43:52.560
Tum today, tomorrow, and Sunday will be the Houston Gun Collector Association show.
01:43:52.640 --> 01:43:57.600
Uh that'll be today from 12 to 5, tomorrow from 9 to 5, and again Sunday from 9 to 3.
01:43:57.680 --> 01:44:01.279
It's a$15, one-day pass or$20 for all three days.
01:44:01.439 --> 01:44:09.199
I'll be out there tomorrow doing a live broadcast from 11 to noon that you can either tune into or come out and see it live in person.
01:44:09.600 --> 01:44:14.800
And uh, by the way, our booth will be there all weekend, so you can check by the Patriot 920 booth.
01:44:15.199 --> 01:44:20.800
On top of that, I also want to highlight I will be on Newsmax twice over the next couple of days.
01:44:20.960 --> 01:44:24.319
I'm gonna be on tomorrow and Sunday on Newsmax programming.
01:44:24.399 --> 01:44:25.600
It'll be very exciting.
01:44:25.760 --> 01:44:31.359
I'll be going on live on Wake Up America weekend on Sunday at 6 in the morning.
01:44:31.439 --> 01:44:36.159
And then I'll also be going on live tomorrow morning as well.
01:44:36.399 --> 01:44:37.119
Can't wait for that.
01:44:37.199 --> 01:44:39.760
That'll be tomorrow at 9.10 a.m.
01:44:40.319 --> 01:44:41.680
So again, that's 9 10 a.m.
01:44:41.840 --> 01:44:43.359
tomorrow and 6 a.m.
01:44:43.520 --> 01:44:44.079
on Sunday.
01:44:44.159 --> 01:44:49.920
If you'd like to tune in to my appearances on Newsmax, we're going over midterm elections, all the stuff going on down here in Texas, everything you need to know.
01:44:50.079 --> 01:44:53.439
With that being said, enjoy your Halloween, enjoy your weekend.
01:44:53.520 --> 01:44:58.399
Lord will be here tomorrow, 11 to noon, and then again, starting Monday for the regular show.
01:44:58.640 --> 01:45:01.840
Enjoy your weekend, ladies and gentlemen, and God speed.
