Jay Magpantay: I became the #2 closer on a team of over 200 sales reps. I've helped closers go from 1.5K months to 16.5K months. I helped a friend install a process that closes paid in fulls on the first call and yet for most of my adult life I couldn't build a single thing for myself... My name is Jay, 41 years old, Filipino-American, born in the Philippines, raised in the US, now living in beautiful Medellin, Colombia. Also feeling a little snotty today. joined the Navy at 18 years old. I became an early promote sailor, did my 6 years and got my associates, my bachelor's and my MBA. Then I landed a job at a defense contractor and in my 3rd month there... I built a department that ended up saving the company multi-millions of dollars. And that's kind of always been the thing for me... When you put me in someone else's environment in another team You give me a problem to solve and I solve it pretty much single time. The Navy, the defense and aerospace companies didn't really matter where I was or what I was doing... If it was someone else's mission, another that I'm part of, I'd show up and do my part. And then I got into sales and it was the same thing. I'd be one of the top reps anywhere I worked. that helpful teammate, the one everyone could depend on to get things done, to help everyone out. And somewhere along the way I realized that... I was really good at building other people's success, but every time I started to build something of my own, it was a different story. an apparel printing after the Navy. Failed. ⁓ I started a agency. Failed. started a jujitsu brand and that one's technically still alive. I'll get back to that one one day. But here's the thing... It wasn't for lack of effort or lack of knowledge. I mean, I have an MBA. I understand how businesses work. But knowing and are two different things, especially when it's your name outside of the storefront. at one point I realized that I my whole entire career making other visions work, and I had to show for it on my own. I mean, I'm 41 years old. I'm just now starting my family here in Medellin. I also have parents back home in San Diego who are tired. They've worked their whole entire lives and I want to take care of them "someday" right now. I'm sitting here with over a decade in sales experience, over $14 million in deals closed and a consistent track record of results when I sell for other people. Yet I'm trying to figure out why I keep in my own way when I try to build something for me. And it makes you feel a little cringe a little bit like... Who am I to be out here teaching anybody when I haven't fully cracked the code for business just yet? And I sat with that question for a really long time. one day I just asked myself a question that kind pissed me off. Honestly, I like, why is it that when I plug into someone else's team or another company, I immediately become one of the top performers helps everyone else. it's my own thing, just feels harder. It's the same brain, it's the same work ethic, same knowledge and skill set, but what's actually different? And the answer wasn't something I was super comfortable to accept because when I'd work or close for someone else, didn't have to rely on motivation. There were systems everywhere. There's already a product. There's a marketing team. There's a fulfillment team. Basically, I would walk into a system and inside of that system, I would excel. But when it came time for my own business, I'd start from scratch without any systems at all. There's no cadence, no operating rhythm, no processes, just me trying to perform every single day. And performance is fragile because some days you're sharp and some days you're not. But systems... Systems don't care how you feel. Systems outlast performance. And was the shift for me. That was the moment I stopped trying to perform my way to success And started building systems that made performance easier. So why am I making content for closers now specifically? Well, because I am one. I know what it's like to be elite one month and then feel like you're starting from zero the very ⁓ I know what it's like depend on motivation, on lead flow, on the marketing team, or on how you feel that day. And the truth is most closers aren't missing any skill. They're just missing the systems. Systems before the call, during the after the call. And I spent years being the most reliable person in every room I walked into and I finally asked myself, "Why can't I be that for me?" And the answer was systems. And now that I have them. I don't need to depend on how sharp I am because I don't need to rely on feeling or performance. I just run the system. So if you're a closer, tired of that same feeling of the feast or famine months tired of the stress wondering whether you're good enough for the call or if you're tired of depending on the motivation to show up and perform, this channel might be for you. There's no hype, no gimmicks, just systems that make good closers even more dangerous. And if you want to start with the Pre-Call System I use before every call, at the core of that is a Primer I'd send to prospects immediately when they'd book with me. It gets hype and ready to buy on the call, and you can get a copy of mine by opting in at jumpifylabs.com/stack You can use that as a template for your offer and if you have a decent understanding of the prospects you sell to, should be able to get this done and ready for your next call in about, let's say, 20 to 30 minutes. So it at jumpifylabs.com/stack and I'll see you in the next video.
